INTRODUCTION 
•Duetorapidtechnologicalinnovationsandhikeinworldpopulation, highqualityandreliableelectricalpowerdemandhassignificantlyincreasedrecentlywhichisroughlyestimatedtodoublebynextdecade. 
•Thisheavyburdenonthepresenttraditionalpowersystemsleadstomanypowerqualityproblems;voltageinconstancy,poorreliability, frequencyfluctuations,causedontransmissionanddistributionlines. 
•Morethan90%ofalltheproblemsinpowersystemsareconsequenttovoltagesagsandswells.
Toovercomethesehurdles,widerangeofpowerelectronicsdevicesemergedandmodifiedtoimprovetheirperformance. 
•SecondgenerationpowerElectronicsdevicesundertheumbrellaofFlexibleAlternatingCurrentTransmissionSystem(FACTS)andCustomPower(CP)arethebestoptionwhenitcomestovoltagestability,reactivepowercompensation,powerfactorcorrectionandharmonicslevelreduction. 
•Amongthesedevices,D-STATCOMandDVRhaveshownanexceptionalperformanceduetotheirfastresponseandreal-timecontrolability.

CONCLUSION 
•AnelectromagnetictransientmodelofembeddedDistributionStaticCompensator(D-STATCOM)andthatofDynamicVoltageRestorer(DVRs)hasbeenpresentedusingPSCAD/ETDMCsoftwaretotesttheefficacyofthesedevicesinassuagingvoltagedipsandswells. 
•Thedevicespresentedhaveshowngreatperformanceinalleviatingthedisturbances.ItcanbededucedfromtheresultsobtainedthatDVRclearsthevoltageinstabilityandrestoressystemvoltagemuchbetterthanD-STATCOM. 
•Additionalbenefitderivablefromtheseschemesistheabsenceoffiltercomponentasthereactanceofthecouplingtransformersservethatpurpose. .
