INTRODUCTION:
 A water level indicator is used to show the level of water
in an over head tank, this keep the user informed about the
water level at all the time and avoids the situation of water
running out when it is most needed.
 Indicator circuit also has alarm feature.
 It not only indicate amounts of water present in overhead
tank but also gives an alarm when the tank is full.
WHY WE NEED IT ?
 OVER FLOW PROBLEMS .
 TO PREVENT WASTAGE OF ENERGY .
 To PREVANT WASTAGE OF WATER .
 ATTENTION
 OBSERVATION.
CIRCUIT COMPONENTS
 PCB BOARD { 1 PCS }
 L.E.D OF DIFFERENT COLOR { 3 PCS }
 RESISTENCE ( 220 ohm ) {6 pcs }
 TRANSISTOR (BC548 NPN) {4 PCS }
 BUZZER {1 PCS }
 BATTERY ( 6 V ) {1 PSC }
 CONNECTING WIRE
COMPONENTS:-
a. LED (Light-emitting Diode) :-
A light-emitting diode (LED) is an electronic light source. LEDs are used as
indicator lamps in many kinds of electronics and increasingly for lighting. LEDs work by
the effect of electroluminescence . The LED was introduced as a practical electronic
component in 1962.
b. TRANSISTOR(BC548):-
A transistor is a semiconductor device commonly used to amplify or switch
electronic signals. A transistor is made of a solid piece of a semiconductor material, with
at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit
c. RESISTANCE :-
The electrical resistance of an object is a measure of its opposition to the
passage of a steady electric current. An object of uniform cross section will have a
resistance proportional to its length and inversely proportional to its cross- sectional
area, and proportional to the resistivity of the material
d. BUZZER:-
It is an electronic device used to give alarm sound as it is
programmed.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
HOW IT WORKS ?
 When water in the tank touches the probe A & both a
small current flows from A to B through water and to the
base of transistor T1 via a 220 Ohm resistor . As a result
the transistor conducts causing the led 1 glow .
 When water touches sensor c ,led2 glow and indicates
that the tank is half filled. Finally when the water touches
sensor D led 3 glows and indicates the tank is completely
filled .
 When touches the buzzer wire buzzer will start and
indicate that water is over flowing .
PROGRAM TO INDICATE WATER LEVEL
USING PLC:
DIAGRAM SHOWING WATER FILLING:
WATER LEVEL INDICATOR CIRCUIT
FEATURES :
 Easy installation.
 Low maintenance.
 Compact elegant design.
 Save electricity and water.
 Fully automatic.
 Saves man power.
 Consume very little energy.
 Ideal for continuous operation.
 Show clear indication of water levels.
APPLICATION :
 It is as use as leveller in storage tank, boilers to indicate
level of water inside.
 Easily indicate when water level is full in tank with beep
sound.
 It can be used to measure any liquid which are electricity
sensitive.
 No extra sensor need.
 Wire can be used as sensor.
 Low cost.
 To save water.
CONCLUSION
Water scarcity is one of the major problems facing
major cities of the world and wastage during
transmission has been identified as a major culprit;
this is one of the motivations for this research, to
deploy computing techniques in creating a barrier to
wastage in order to not only provide more financial
gains and energy saving, but also help the
environment and water cycle which in turn ensures
that we save water for our future.
