4. Objectives :
A water level indicator is used to show the level of
water in an over head tank, this keep the user
informed about the water level at all the time and
avoids the situation of water running out when it is
most needed. Indicator circuit also has alarm feature.
It not indicate amounts of water present in overhead
tank but also gives an alarm when the tank is full.

7. HOW IT WORKS ?
When water in the tank touches the probe A & both a
small current flows from A to B through water and to
the base of transistor T1 via a 220 Ohm resistor . As a
result the transistor conducts causing the led 1 glow .
When water touches sensor c ,led2 glow and indicates
that the tank is half filled. Finally when the water
touches sensor D led 3 glows and indicates the tank is
completely filled .
When water touches the buzzer wire buzzer will start
and indicate that water is over flowing .

10. description :
This is a description of water level indicator with alarm
The circuit is based on 4 transistor switches. Each transistor is switched on to
drive the corresponding LED , when its base is supplied with current through
the water through the electrode probes.
One electrode probe is with 9V AC is placed at the bottom of tank. Next probes
are placed step by step above the bottom probe. When water is rising the base
of each transistor gets electrical connection to 9V AC through water and the
corresponding probe. Which in turn makes the transistors conduct to glow
LED and indicate the level of water. The ends of probes are connected to
corresponding points in the circuit as shown in circuit diagram.Insulated
Aluminum wires with end insulation removed will do for the probe. Arrange
the probes in order on a PVC pipe according to the depth and immerse it in the
tank.AC voltage is use to prevent electrolysis at the probes. So this setup will
last really long. I guarantee at least a 2 years of maintenance free operation.
That’s what I got and is still going.
11. APPLICATION :
IT is as use as leveller in storage tank , boilers to
indicate level of water inside .
Easily indicate when water level is full in tank with
beep sound .
It can be used to measure any liquid which are
electricity sensitive .
No extra sensor need . wire can be used as sensor .
Low cost .
To save water .
