This document presents the results of a study to develop a beneficiation process for a low-grade magnetite ore from Belagal Range, Bellary district, Karnataka, India to produce a concentrate assaying at least 65% Fe. The feed ore contained 35.19% Fe, 42.7% SiO2, and fine grained magnetite interlocked with quartz. Beneficiation tests investigated the effects of grind size and different separation techniques including magnetic separation, gravity separation using shaking tables, and their combinations. The optimal process developed was grinding to 150 mesh followed by shaking table concentration, producing a concentrate assaying 66.73% Fe, 49.5% Fe distribution at 26.6% yield,
