Bob Marley Biography Essay
Crafting an essay on the life and legacy of Bob Marley is no simple task. The challenge lies not
just in narrating the chronological events of his biography but in capturing the essence of a
cultural icon, a musical revolutionary, and a symbol of resistance. Bob Marley's life is a rich
tapestry woven with threads of reggae music, Rastafarian spirituality, political activism, and
personal struggles.
To encapsulate the complexities of his journey, one must delve deep into the cultural and
historical context of Jamaica, the birthplace of reggae, and explore Marley's profound influence
on the genre. Additionally, addressing the impact of his Rastafarian beliefs, which intertwined
with his music and lifestyle, adds layers of depth to the narrative.
Moreover, the essay should navigate through the socio-political landscape of Jamaica during
Marley's time, reflecting on his commitment to social justice and his tireless efforts to bring about
change through his music. His experiences with poverty, discrimination, and the volatile political
climate of the era are crucial components that demand meticulous attention.
Balancing the portrayal of Marley as a musical genius and a cultural icon with the realities of his
personal life, including his health struggles and family dynamics, adds a nuanced dimension to
the biography. Conveying the emotions embedded in his lyrics and the impact of his music on a
global scale requires a delicate touch.
In conclusion, writing a comprehensive essay on Bob Marley's biography involves navigating
through the intricate interplay of music, culture, politics, and personal life. It demands a deep
understanding of the context in which he lived and created his iconic music. To capture the
essence of such a multifaceted personality requires thorough research, careful analysis, and a
nuanced approach to storytelling.

The New Symbolic Consumers For Fashion Brands
5. Discussion The study has followed several sets of key previous research findings
and contributed to the new symbolic consumers model as explained in the following
seven arguments. First, Baudrillard (1993, 1994, 1998) theory, symbolic
consumption, as a focal notion of the study, is found to be a good foundation to
understand consumers purchasing decisions for fashion brands. The findings show
that consumers choose brands which have relevance or desired symbolic value for
them. Not only Baudrillard, the findings are also in line with the studies of Dittmar
(1992, 1994, 2004, 2008), Elliott Wattanasuwan (1998a) and Wattanasuwan (2003,
2005) regarding how consumers use fashion products; symbolic consumption is used
to represent actual self identity, and also to create ideal self identity. Furthermore,
Baudrillard s sign system can be applied to explicate the process of the signification
of fashion brands. The sign system leads to a new model of symbolic consumers,
which is used to illustrate the interrelationship between all consumer influences.
Baudrillard proposed that consumers from different backgrounds interpret fashion
symbolism differently. The findings revealed that fashion brands marketing elements
are translated based on respondents experience. The findings also support Grubb and
Grathwohl s (1967) model stating that the signification of fashion goods is generated
by the symbolic exchange transactions of groups. Hence, internal and external
influences
Can Contemporary Organisations Learn Anything Useful
from...
W ith regarding to the rapid pace of technological innovation, the contemporary
organizations prefer to use the more mature theory then the new issued study. I don t
think Stace and Dunphy s situational approach can satisfy all the condition on the
whole organization change; however, it should be something useful for the
contemporary organizations.
There are four types of change are defined by Dunphy and Stace (1993): type1:
F ine tuning; type2: Incremental Adjustment; type3: Modular transformation; type4:
Corporate transformation.
F ine tuning changes are characterized by small changes to an organization s strategy,

Modular transformation is change identified by major shifts of one or several
departments or divisions. In contrast to incremental adjustment this change can be
radical (RUNE TODNEM, 2005, pp 377). Although the new technology companies
are developed and applied rapidly, realign departments or divisions is often used in
the current traditional companies. It proved this type of change is also useful for the
contemporary organizational.
Corporate transformation is corporation wide, characterized by radical shifts in
business strategy, and revolutionary changes throughout the whole organization
(Alannah E. Rafferty, Roland H. Simons, 2006, pp 329). TQM change thus requires
corporate transformation since it impacts on mission and core values, affects the
power distribution in the organization, impacts on structures, systems and procedures,
affects interaction patterns and communication networks, and requires
transformational leadership to implement (Morris Abraham, John Crawford, Tom
F isher, 1999, pp 113).
Dunphy and Stace s (1993) research with 13 service sector organizations in Australia,
which had gone through large scale change indicates that for transformational change,
a directive/coercive style of leadership is likely to be most successful.
Whereas, for incremental adjustment or fine tuning, a consultative/collaborative

The Smoke Signals Forgiveness Essay
The Smoke Signals Forgiveness
Smoke Signals, written by Sherman Alexie and directed by Chris Eyre, begins on
July 4, 1976 on the Coeur d Alene Reservation. Arnold Joseph (Gary Farmer),
drunk while celebrating the independence , lit off a firework and set the Builds the
Fire residence on fire, killing the parents of Thomas Builds the Fire. Many people
were already asleep in the house when the fire started, so no one saw Arnold s
mistake, which he kept a secret from the whole reservation. Both Thomas Builds the
Fire (Evan Adams) and VictorJoseph (Adam Beach), Arnold s son, were saved from
the burning house. Arnold ran to catch Thomas in his arms after Thomas was thrown
from a window.
Victor and Thomas grew up together. After the... Show more content on

One day, Arlene received a call from Arnold s neighbor in Phoenix, Suzy Song
(Irene Bedard), saying that Arnold had died and that someone should probably
come down to Phoenix to take care of the death. This meant that Victor had to take
a bus to Phoenix to get Arnold s possessions and drive his truck back to the
reservation. There was just one problem, Victor didn t have the money for a bus
pass, but Thomas did. The catch was, if Thomas gave Victor some money to go to
Phoenix, Thomas got to come along too. Victor had no other choice but to accept the
offer. And the journey begins.
Victor and Thomas had never been off the reservation before. They experienced
what it s really like to be a Native American in the real world. On the bus ride there,
two white men took their seats and made rude comments about them being Native
Americans. They received a lot of stares and uncomfortable looks from people as
well. The bus ride to Phoenix was hard for Victor because he had to deal with
Thomas talking the whole time. Victor especially didn t like it when Thomas brought
up his father in conversation.
In Phoenix, Thomas and Victor walked many miles through the desert to get to
Arnold s old trailer. Suzy Song lived in a trailer there as well. They met Suzy right
away, and she was very helpful. She and Thomas told stories to each
Edifices to the Gods and Social Perception of A Nation
Edifices to the Gods and Social Perception of A Nation
Extraordinary constructions of monuments seem to have been the staple for the
ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilization yet their purposes proved somewhat
different. For the Sumerian civilization, the construction of the ancient monuments
served a multiple purpose as social, economic and religious centers and in the latter
half of the third millennium B.C.E. the Ur based civilization focused on building
schemes for their administrative, economic and agricultural benefits. In contrast, the
Egyptian civilization during the peak of the Fourth Dynasty s power during the
reign of the first three rulers of the dynasty: Cheops, Khufu and Menkuare] focused
on building projects aimed at edifying the political and religious power of the
civilization (Wake 29). Indeed, one needs only consider the fact that while the
pyramids of Egypt served as funereal complexes for their rulers the ziggurats of
ancient Mesopotamia served as cultural museums and offices for their people.
The period between 2112 B.C.E. and 2004 B.C.E. were the peak in Sumerian
civilization s development and were stereotyped by the construction of public
monuments such as the sanctuary complex for Nanna between 2112 B.C.E. and 2047
B.C.E. While historians note that the monument edified Ur Nammu, the dynastic
patriarch of the Ur based civilization, the monument served as a palatial complex,
store room for grain and wines, and a temple complex housing the

Social Norm In Moby Dick
All men live enveloped in whale lines. All are born with halters round their necks; but
it is only when caught in the swift, sudden turn of death, that mortals realize the
silent, subtle, ever present perils of life. (Melville, 1851) The creation of Moby Dick
was a significant turning point for American literature. Melville s application of
intense symbolism, challenging themes, and extraordinary allusions contrast with
that of typical American writings of that time. In fact, many Americans rejected the
novel due to the fact Moby Dick explicates realism that many Americans neglected to
comprehend in the 19th century; many Americans were not aware the immoral social
norms they practiced. In this way, Melville utilized Moby Dick as an allegory... Show

Additionally, Melville addressed allusions to Greek Mythology including the three
Fates who conducted the strings of life and destiny. In Moby Dick, the crew seized
destiny into their own hands; however, in the end, life and death were augured by
the harpoon ropes. Ahab stooped to clear it; he did clear it; but the flying turn caught
him round the neck, and voicelessly as Turkish mutes bowstring their victim, he was
shot out of the boat, ere the crew knew he was gone. Next instant, the heavy eye
splice in the rope s final end flew out of the stark empty tub, knocked down an
oarsman, and smiting the sea, disappeared in its depths. (Melville, 1851) Despite the
attempt of the crew, they were not the deciders of fate. On the other hand, this was
similar to Americans at the time. Americans used God to justify their iniquities
including treatment of races and expansion. As stated previously, America s justified
the Manifest Destiny as God s word; thus, generating a strong sense of nationalism.
Americans concluded God constructed them as the superior nation, and many
Americans grew audacious. In fact, many felt America should only be for Americans,
not foreign immigrants. Some went as far as violence to voice their opinion, similar
to Ahabd s revenge against the whale. At the same time, Americans also removed
Native Americans and enslaved African Americans. Needless to say,
Anne Sexton The Bells
Anne Sexton was a troubled woman. She often felt neglected by her parents;
unloved even, so much so that she attempted suicide. Before she succeeded in 1974,
Sexton used hundreds of poems to confess her feelings. One such poem is The Bells
, a seemingly simple memory of a trip to the circus. However, poetrycan never be
looked at through one lens. Instead, one must look deeper to understand the message
the poet is attempting to convey. And so, through a different a lens, this memory
becomes a story of an incredibly complex father daughter relationship. Before
analyzing the meaning, a reader must first notice the style of the poem itself. Anne
Sexton, being a part of the confessionalism period, writes in first person. This deepens
the suspicion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this being only the first line, diction is already important. Sexton
specifically chose the word scabbed, as scabs cover wounds. Perhaps a scab is
covering the wounded father daughter relationship. Line 5 furthers this idea, as
Sexton writes Father, do you remember? . This line is key in understanding the
father daughter relationship, as it has many meanings. For one, Sexton purposely
chose Father, rather than Dad or Daddy. Father is more formal; it shows the
distance between father and daughter. Sexton also asks this question because she
wants to make sure this memory means as much to him as it does to her. The idea
is furthered by lines 9 10, as they read ...and how the bells/ trembled for the flying
man. The reader must pay close attention to the bells, as it is the title. Sexton uses
this metaphor to symbolize the negative feelings to her father. The bells tremble, as
Sexton would have, because she is scared. This idea is contradicted, however, by the
end of stanza one. Sexton depicts a typical father daughter relationship; a child
laughing on his shoulders. She depicts a relationship she wishes she

A Comparison Between Macbeth And The Bible
There are multiple connections between Macbeth and the Bible, the strongest of
which are seen in the two books from the Bible, Genesis and 1 Samuel. Macbeth
takes the characters of Adam and Eve from Genesis, and uses them as a basis for the
two main characters of Macbeth , Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Just as Eve tempts
Adam to go against the direct instruction of God, Lady Macbethconvinces Macbeth
to murder the king, Lady Macbeth and Eve are both seen as the temptress to
Macbeth and Adam, and they are punished equally in both stories, either by death, or
expulsion from their home with God. 1 Samuel demonstrates the origins of the
Divine Right of Kings: that no one was able to go against the King, for he was God s
appointed one. Macbeth takes it further and demonstrates what happens to the one
who does kill the King, that they bring upon themselves only misery, and eventually
death. Macbeth and the Bible have numerous resemblances to each other, indicating
how Shakespeare used his Biblical knowledge, which was common in the Elizabethan
era, to influence his plays.
There is a strong connection between story lines of Macbeth and Genesis chapter
three. They both have a man and a woman, who are associated with prominent
individuals, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are associated with King Duncan, and Adam
and Eve and in the Garden of Eden with God. They hear of a way, or prophecy which
could raise them to a higher position, either King, or equal to God. In both instances,
they

are to В·Lengthen and straighten the penis by correcting dorsal bend and chordee.
В·Create functionality and cosmetically acceptable external genitalia with as few

The Significant Roles Of Citizen Journalism And The Role...
When it comes to journalism, citizen journalism is not any different from what
democracy is when it comes to politics and civic life. It allows for the active
participation of the citizens in news gathering and reporting. The advancements that
have taken place in the field of technology have enabled people to gain an
opportunity to become producers of content that they used to be consumers of in the
past through the mainstream media. Today, everyone has an opportunity to become a
citizen journalist (Allan and Einar 76). There is an array of social media platforms
and accounts whose key role is to disseminate information to the public, especially in
cases where individuals may feel that conventional journalismwould want to shield
the public from some information. Citizen journalists employ an extensive range of
methods in the generation and dissemination of information. Much of these are
driven by the advancements that have taken place in the field of technology and the
forms of communication available to the public. These include the internet, the
mobile phone, and the different camera gadgets which can all be employed in the
gathering and sharing of information (DeMers, 89). One of the significant roles that
citizen journalism could play in the society would be to fill the gap that is often left
by traditional media as they try to play their role as the protector of public interest.
The internet provides the technical means, while the citizens play the active
Counter Painkillers
The Dangers of Over The Counter Painkillers When one has a headache or is in
pain, he or she takes a pill or two and then that s it, the pain is gone, and everything
is fine, right? Not necessarily. A lot of adults do not follow or know the
recommended dosage for OTC (Over The Counter) pain medications. This is a
serious issue because overdosing on these painkillers can have very detrimental
affects on the body. According to a pharmacist of the Nonprescription Drugs
Advisory Committee at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 50% of patients do
not take the amount of medicine they are directed (Engle). The number of
accidental adult overdose on OTC pain medication, such as TYLENOLВ®,
MucinexВ®, and NyquilВ®, has sharply risen in recent years with a 27% increase
in the amount of overdoses from the period of 2005 2010 alone (Gerth... Show more

However, when misused they can damage the body. More drugs in the last two years
have been changed from prescription only medication to over the counter medication
than in the last decade (Blenkinsopp). The major reason for this is because most OTC
medications contain acetaminophen, which is a pain and fever reducer. It is
currently the most common medicine for pain relief in the United States (Greenlaw).
The problem with acetaminophen is that it can severely damage your liver tissue and
skin. It damages the Glutathione Pathway, which is necessary for detoxification. This
pathway is strongest antioxidant protector in the liver. Acetaminophen breaks down
this pathway and in turn decreases the protection from toxins over time. It also
accounts for about 460 deaths, 56,000 emergency room visits, and 2,6000
hospitalizations every year due to acute liver failure (University of Texas Medical
Center). Acetaminophen in the correct amount can be advantageous, but one must
understand the recommended proper dosage and frequency that the medication
should be
Workplace Violence In The Workplace
INTRODUCTION:
Violence in the workplace has become a major safety and health issue. Workplace
violence is not limited to homicide. This type of violence includes behaviors and
circumstances that threaten an employee s physical safety; such as: verbal threats,
sexual or physical harassment, coercion, behavior changes, intimidation, stalking,
telephone/email harassment, and history of aggression. Workplace violence
incidents have tripled in the last decade, and it is now the fastest growing category
of murder in the United States. It is also the second leading cause of death for
women in the workplace (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016). The United States
Department of Justice declared the workplace as one of the most dangerous places to

Additionally, Mr. Staver states that other identifiers are dramatic and unreasonable
demands occur when the individual is constantly impatient and expects an immediate
response to the task, and or project (Staver, 2012). Also, Staver stressed the
importance of recognizing personal insults and threats and notifying management of
said gestures so that the organization maybe on alert and preventive measure can be
implemented (Staver, 2012). There are other identifiers of potential workplace
violence such as: an individual who have difficulty getting along with others, making
inappropriate remarks, always upset about everything and everyone. Also, there are
individual who the company and employee have no clue about because the
perpetrator is an outsider, not an employee of the organization. In this incidence, it is
quite difficult to identify the potential threat. Therefore, the organization must have a
program in place to handle offsite threats that may invade the company and cause
violence and/or harm to its employees. The program(s) designed within that particular
organization will better assist that company in the scope of recognizing and avoid
potential workplace violence occurrences.

Dr Jekyll And Hyde Duality
Everyone has an inner Hyde. The id part of our personality pushes us to indulge
without compunction. This idea is imminent in the novel The Strange Case of
Jekyll and Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson. In this novel, Dr. Henry Jekyll
struggles with his addiction to a drug that allows him to satisfy his id while
maintaining a moral code. We see him struggle with the duality of his persona that
the drug grants him. That is, when Jekyll wishes to do bad things without guilt, he
turns into Edward Hyde. Because it is human nature to want the satisfaction of our
id, we often times give into our inner Hyde. I have given into my inner Hyde when
I ate a tub of ice cream before anyone in my family set eyes on it. The whole reason

Aspects Of Contract And Business Law

Gonzales Tutor: Daniel Pratt http://businesslawfaculty.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09
/contract law part i offer unqualified.html TASK 1: P1: Identify the legal criteria for
offer and acceptance in a valid contract. What is a contract? A contract can either
be written implied or spoken agreement between two or more people legally
binding. Once contract has been the offeror will have to keeps promises provided in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Search Engine
Marketing...
You have a beautiful website up and running, and now you need to get it in front of
people who are interested in what you have to offer. The two big ways of doing this
are search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO). They both
have some advantages and disadvantages.
Defining our terms is typically a good place to start. Some see SEO as being one
element within SEM, which can include other elements such as paid search
marketing. Lately, many see a clearer distinction between the two. Search engine
optimization is the process of optimizing all the elements on your website and
between your website and other sites in order to increase its rank in what s known as
the organic search results. When discussing search engine marketing, digital
marketing professionals are typically referring to the process of engaging in paid
advertising on the search engines.
Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization is basically any action you do to your website that gets
the search engines to consider it to be a relevant search result to display when
someone types in a search term in Google, Bing or any other search engine. These
actions, therefore, include optimizing the meta data and content of your website for
these keywords. Google also highly regards factors such as fast webpage loading
speeds, mobile friendly websites and the time a visitor spends on your website. This
last factor is why content marketing is important. Many of the latest Google algorithm

The Alamo Battle Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to discuss an alternate ending to one of the greatest
battles in Texas history, the battle of the Alamo. This paper will show how using
Intellectual standards and critical seasoning can be used to conduct battle analysis as
well as develop and alternate outcome to a historical battle. The turning point in the
fight for Texasindependence from Mexico was the fight at the Alamo again Santa
Ana. If Santa Ana would not have won that decisive victory over the Texas militia at
the Alamo, the fight for Independence from Mexico would have possibly taken
longer to rally the troops. Before the siege at the Alamo, Santa Ana used his

That instant when the Alamo fell, intertwined Santa Ana s fate with the Alamo.
(LSJunction, 1999)
What if Santa Ana did not strategically place forces around the Alamo and
reinforcements had come to aid the Alamo? The Alamo was never intended to be a
defensive position by any means, but was meant to be a mission. The Mission San
Antonio De Valero, established in the early 18th century, was situated along the
San Antonio River. By 1800, the missionaries were displaced and their land was
seized for military purposes. Occupying soldiers called the Mission turned garrison
El Alamo after the cottonwood trees surrounding it. Eventually the mission was
officially renamed The Alamo. First Spanish soldiers, then Mexican soldiers
occupied The Alamo. With only 200 Texan soldiers defending the Alamo, Santa
Ana lost 600 soldiers during the 13 day siege of the Alamo. Reinforcements would
have turned the tide in favor of the Texans. William B. Travis wrote a letter to the
people of Texas and all Americans. I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the
Mexicans under Santa Anna I have sustained a continual Bombardment cannonade
for 24 hours have not lost a man. The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion,

hundreds of years ago. Today, hospices offer comfort to people as they near the end
of life s journey.
Hospice is a special way of caring for people with terminal illnesses and their
families. It is a multidisciplinary health care program that is responsible for palliative
and supportive care with consideration of the patient s and families wishes. Hospice
focuses on care, not cure.
Hospice care is important because it provides many benefits that aren t possible in a
traditional acute or long term health care setting. Within ... Show more content on

Special Requirements:
Staff needs to be oriented in the special situations that arise in dealing with a patient
in their own home. Respect for the patient and their surroundings is of utmost
importance. Being empathetic to even the smallest of concerns is the mark of a well
trained care giver. There must be an emphasis on maintaining a quality of life that the
patient as well as the family feel comfortable with.
Since the patient is treated by such a wide variety of workers, there are weekly case
management meetings which are mandated by Medicare, but often also influenced by
hospital policy to ensure quality of care. It is at this time that information is shared
by all who have had contact with the patient and any concerns are addressed. This
helps for the staff to work out their feelings as well because in hospice care where
you may treat a patient for a year or more, bonds begin to form.
Reports, Statistics, and Records:
I would like to spend a bit of time on this subject in consideration of the nature of our
program. As director of the hospice program, one duty that would fall on you is the
compilation of statistics, the submitting of reports, and the overseeing of the legal
medical record.
Since hospice keeps it s own legal medical record on their patients, their relationship
with the medical record department is very limited. If a hospice patient checks in to
the hospital, there must be a release of information from hospice to the hospital
An Analysis Of My Life
I grew up in an eccentric corner house. Its walls were a faded shade of pink, its
yard occupied by rocks where the rest of the neighborhood had a plot of plush grass.
Our lawn was instead adorned by a date palm tree and a cement donkey statue. But it
was the tall, spindly weeds that invaded the concrete and crept out from between
cracks in the sidewalk that always grabbed the household s attention.
It seemed as though my mother spent day after day hunched over, trying to eradicate
the pesky invaders but always to no avail. Although it would appear for a brief
moment after treatment that they had finally been suppressed, those weeds would
always inevitably pop back up with what seemed to be a vigor that only gained
momentum each time they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am stubborn to a fault, painfully humble, and fiercely independent, which makes it
a challenge just to ask for help when I cannot provide for myself. Getting on track
with further education required help (and lots of it), as my single mother was left
financially ruined after a long chain of spousal toxicity.
But one day during class, I was notified to stop by the counselor s office
immediately. As I climbed the carpeted stairs up to the second floor of the office
complex, I remember the gnawing feeling of not knowing what to expect.
When I entered the room, the counselor and I quickly got through the necessary
salutations before she sat me down and asked, Where do you want to go to high
school? . Caught off guard, I gave the only honest response I had to offer: I don t
know. I was surrounded by affluent classmates who did not have to worry about
finances as a determining factor in which school they were going to attend, and I
did not have that peace of mind. I did, however, have an attitude of hard work, self
discipline, and perseverance which fueled my record of academic success. For the
longest time, that steady dedication I supplied seemed to go unnoticed. But I was
never happier to be wrong. The counselor bluntly told me that I could go wherever I
wanted. I could choose any school within reason, and I wouldn t have to worry about
tuition or other expenses related to receiving a proper education. So I weighed
The Great Depression In Ron Howard s Film Cinderella
Man
The economic turmoil of the Great Depression is an unparalleled crisis in the
history of the modern United States. While recessions of the 1980s and 2000s were
each debilitating in their own regard, they pale in comparison to the monstrosity of
the 1930s. It is during this period of strife when director Ron Howard sets his 2005
movie Cinderella Man. In the film, James J. Braddock is a former boxing star on
the rise amidst the opulence of the Roaring Twenties and serves as a paragon of the
American Dream. However, the cruel reality of 1929 took all of this away from
Braddock, his wife, and his three children, leaving them to struggle in order to make
ends. Indeed, the Depression did not discriminate when it struck, and James and his
wife Mae... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The director s mixture of constant adversity with the sanguine nature of the
Braddocks reveals the values of perseverance and family present during the
Depression. Utilizing settings in squalor, adding details tangential to the main plot,
such as sending children away, and portraying personal relationships in the context
of economic despair creates a vivid representation of not only the business
downturn, but also the social strain manifested from the situation. From an acting
standpoint, Russell Crowe shines with his stellar performance of James J.
Braddock. Crowe s array of emotion evokes sympathy from the audience while
concomitantly demonstrating the pride felt by many during this period. By being
an independent breadwinner full of rectitude, Crowe asserted the feelings of many
men during these years regarding the need for a stolid, constant point of stability.
RenГ©e Zellweger, for her part as Mae, is able to extract the emotive side of
James, rounding out the picture of a cohesive family unit. Zellweger s use of grit
fulfills the impactful role of women at a time when they were often overlooked in
stature. Together, Crowe and Zellweger knit together a complete picture of daily life
during the Great Depression and, in doing so, provide an exceptional
Factors That Regulate The Chemical Reactions That Affect...
Abstract Enzymes are catalysts that regulate the chemical reactions that occur in a
cell. By lowering the activation energy, they can increase the rate of reactions.
Enzyme amylases such as Bacillus Licheniformis and Aspergillus Oryzae split
starch polymers into smaller subunits called monomers. The lab displayed how
divergent temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase and reveal the
optimal temperature for the fungal and bacteria amylase. To set up the experiment,
eight test tubes are necessary. Four of the test tubes will be labeled for the bacteria
and the remaining four will be labeled fungi. Each test tube will be labeled for a
specific temperature (0вЃ°, 25вЃ°, 55вЃ°, 85вЃ° Celsius) and another 4 for the starch
solution. Two spot plates are required which will be used to record and analyze
each reaction every two minutes by adding iodine to the well of the spot plate. After
gathering the information you will need to determine what color represents the
greatest reaction can be determined by the color (Black Yellow). It is important to
collect and compare every group s data in order to obtain accurate results. After going
over all the results, one can conclude that the best temperature for the reaction to
occur in this solution is at 55вЃ° Celsius which would be the enzyme s optimal level.
Knowing what temperature works best for enzymes allows for a faster and more
efficient use of these reactions. Without enzymes, the reactions would be too slow to
keep the cells
Malaysian National Art Gallery
MALAYSIA NATIONAL ART GALLERY National Art Gallery was designed by a
Dutch architect in 1932 and was Kuala Lumpur last major colonial hotel. Today,
the hotel has been converted into a pyramid shaped block art gallery showcasing
the work of Malaysian artists located between Jalan Tunk Razak and Lake

Malay art with long ridge roof concept adapted from traditional Malays house and a
very unusual modern structure, built with a combination of glass, metal and slate.
National Art Gallery aims to display to the world some of the local artwork, hosts
seminars, workshops and competitions in the local and international arena to promote
the appreciation of the arts by the younger generation. Each building has its own

Backyard Blues Analysis
In Trethewey s Native Guard, graves symbolize the futility of mankind s efforts to
conceal its evils and of failure to combat the racist system put in place by white
America. For years, Trethewey s mother fought to protect her daughter from the
hatred and prejudice in America. Her protest against the hatred of America was
snuffed out by abusive partners and by the nascent racism of America. In the poem
Graveyard Blues, she describes the atmosphere of the graveyard as blues y and
dreary. She wander[s] now among the names of the dead: My mother s name, stone

Essay On Officer Candidate School
Does the military just go to war? The answer is no. People think that the military flies
planes, sails boats, and shoots guns. Not many college students know much about the
military, but when people think of the military, they may think of the different
military branches or war. In reality, the military has a few different branches and
many career options. In the military, officers are known as the higher ranked
officials and leaders of the military. In order to become an officer, one must attend a
service academy or military college, complete Officer Candidate School, or take part

Officer Candidate School can last 9 to 17 weeks. The courses given at OCS include
military subjects, physical training, and leadership. This rigorous program takes
candidates through an intense training through courses such as the combat course
which consist of a 12 mile hike in full combat gear and a 3.5 mile combat simulation
course, an endurance course and obstacle course to test their physical abilities and
breaking points. Officers need stamina and confidence to lead Marines in physically
demanding situations. Along with the hours of classroom time studying history,
traditions, operations and organization, the candidates are expected to complete
multiple courses with passing grades to become Officers in the military.
Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is the most common way to become an
officer. This type of training is offered for the Marine Corps, Navy, Army, and Air
Force. Reserve Officer Training Corps is offered in many colleges and universities in
the United States. Reserve Officer Training Corps prepares young adults to become
officers in the military. Attending this program during the four years of college, a
student is commissioned as an officer upon graduation in their given career
British Women Writers During The Romantic Period
British Women Writers during the Romantic period Like the minority writer, the
female writer exists within an inescapable condition of identity which distances her
from the mainstream of the culture and forces her either to stress her separation from
the masculine literary tradition or to pursue her resemblance to it. (Lynn Sukenick,
Miller: 1985, 356.) Women s roles in society today has changed radically since the
Romantic period. Women during the Romantic Period were looked down upon
economically, socially, and politically. Women were labelled as the Cult of the True
Womanhood, which was an ideology that degraded women to only serve as a family s
moral guidance at home, and labeled women as less superior to men. Women were
not entitled to attend school, obtain a degree, own any property, or substance
essential elements that all men were allow performing. Having deprived her of this
first right of a citizen, the elective Franchise, thereby leaving her without
representation in the halls of legislation, he has oppressed her on all sides.
(Declaration of Sediments.) Because of these limitations and standards that women
had to follow, women fought industriously for their education, rights, and freedom.
Men their rights and nothing more; Women their rights and nothing less. (Susan B

knowledge in how to dance, sing, paint, sew, and basic understandings of modern
languages; nevertheless,
Analysis Of Ghost In The Shell
The term cyborg was first created when researchers attempted to alter the human
body for space travel (Corbett, 2009). It is short for cybernetic organism, that is, a
being with both organic and biomechatronic components. The film Ghost in the
Shell (1995) is an example of speculative fiction and takes place in a futuristic
Hong Kong inspired cityscape, where cyborgs and prosthetic bodies are not
unusual. Oshii Masamune s animated science fiction film is set in 2029, when
people can customise their bodies, replay memories and move from shell to shell.
Susan Napier describes the film as an exploration of the possibilities of transcending
individual and corporeal identity (Napier, 2001, as cited in Ashby, 2008, 2.4).
It is common practice to own a cyberbrain; an artificially augmented brain that allows
connection to the internet and other networks. Public security agency Section 9 is
searching for a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master . The hacker is able
to alter the memories of individuals with cyberbrains, leaving the Section 9
investigator, Motoko, wondering if her memories and feelings are real. It is later
revealed that the hacker is a secret project created by Section 6.
So, what is the definition of a human in a society where the mind can be copied and
the body replaced? When humans live in artificial bodies and artificially intelligent
androids learn to feel, are they any different? Oshii uses the trans human as a theme to
speculatively explore the

After several incidents, the school guard is told to watch Eric and Dylan. This day

and the two suicides of Dylan and Eric. The most commonly asked question is
quot;could anyone have stopped this senseless, horrific catastrophe? quot; Some
say the police could have taken action when the Browns sent the print out. Other
say it was movies (like the Matrix ) having the Black trenchcoats and killing of
people. The list of blame even goes as far as music. (That s ridiculous, because I

Allowing College Students To Have Guns On Campus
Mass college shootings are becoming more and more common each day, happening
all over the country. This is an issue that requires a solution. Some people believe
that allowing college students to have guns on campus will help solve the issue.
Numerous states have already started passing bills that allow guns on campuses,
and many more are trying. The Editorial Board at The Arizona Republic are
fighting against these laws, as seen in their editorial Our View: Time to allow guns
on campus? No. . The authors use various points in hopes of bringing awareness to
this issue and to persuade the reader that allowing college students to have guns
will not solve any issues, but will only bring upon more. When taking a stance on a
controversial topic, it is important to be aware of all sides of the argument, and this
article is effective in acknowledging these opinions. The authors of the article

Towards the end of the article the authors use an anecdotal fallacy, and compare
college shootings to a situation that happened in Arizona. Arizona s personal
experience with mass murder also shows the dangers of relying on armed civilians

against having guns on campus (Our View). This argument is not strong, and is
more of a shot at the citizens in Arizona rather than a point for their side. A few lines
later, the articles attack an opinion that people of the other side may have It is
fallacious to think that simply having more guns at the scene of a massacre will result

The Major Causes Of The Crusades
In 1065 Jerusalem was taken by the Turks, who came from the kingdom of ancient
Persia. When the Seljuk Turks took control of Jerusalem, thirty thousand Christians
were massacred and the remaining Christians were mistreated. Christians were
forbidden from making pilgrimages to the Holy City. The Turks then threatened to
invade the Byzantine Empireand take Constantinople. Byzantine Emperor Alexius I
made a special appeal to Urban II for help. The idea that Europe could be united
under one common enemy, and awakened the desire to save the Holy Land and
Jerusalem from the Turks, and the hope for acquiring new territory in the East were
all causes of the Crusades. A significant cause for the Crusades was Pope Urban II s
call to fight the Seljuk Turks and defend Constantinople in order to unite Europe.
Pope Urban II explained to his people that Alexius of the Byzantine Empire needed
help in defending Constantinople from the Seljuk Turks and asked for all of the
true Christians to join in the fight. The Pope used this as an opportunity to unite
Europe. Catholic forces were fighting with each other all over Europe and the Pope
came up with an idea to get all that war out of Europe and send it somewhere else,
Jerusalem ; fighting together as one big army. He promised that all of those who
wanted to volunteer would be repented of their sins. Feudal lords, knights and
peasants were convinced by Pope Urban II s speech that it was their duty as
Christians to fight in the
Analysis Of The Film The Wild County
The Wild County is a modern Spaghetti Western film set to be released on March
2018. I will be the director of the film, and will mainly take care of the visual aspect
of the film. The film s visual element takes inspiration from one of Sergio Leone s
prominent film Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). The first scene I will direct in
the film is Scene IV. The spotting for the film will occur on November 24th, 2016.
The first spotting session will mainly focus on arranging the musicwith the footage
taken for Scene IV. The meeting will be attended by the film composer Richard
Marley along with our three music editors Cindy Nicholson, Brandon Howard, and
Susan Baxter.
The plot of the film is about Bruce West, a young cowboy who travels to Cape
Town, Lousiana in order to seek redemption for the death of his family back in
Mississippi. Bruce West s family are murdered by the evil Samuel Johnson and his
crew called the Red Bandits. The Red Bandits plan to infiltrate Cape Town by
robbing the town of it s fortune and kidnapping mayor Smith as hostage. In order to
stop the Red Bandits, Bruce West creates a group called The Rebellion to fight
against the Red Bandits and save Cape Town from chaos.
Scene IV will have no source music, meaning no music will be heard by both the
audience and the characters. Moreover, there will be no dialogue between characters
as this is a silent film. The only sound in the scene will be the non diegetic music
created by the film composer Richard
Saying Farewell To A Faithful Pal Analysis
People and animals are supposed to be together. (My Story, Temple Grandin).
Animals and people have always been together. They would not be the same without
one another. I agree with this quote because people and animals really do need each
other. Animals can teach us. Animals can protect us. Animals can change our lives.
In the story Saying Farewell to a Faithful Pal by John Grogan, John expresses how
much he learned from his dog, Marley. Marley taught me about living each day with
unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart.
(Saying Farewell to a Faithful Pal, John Grogan.) Grogan is showing how much
more happiness was brought into his life by his dog. He also says, He taught me to
appreciate the simple things in the same story. His dog, Marley, taught him about
being thankful for even the smallest things, like a walk in the woods, a fresh
snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. .
An article from Better Homes and Gardens also shows how animals can be great
teachers. One of the paragraphs specifically focuses on how animals teach us.
Companion animals are natural teachers. They help people of all ages learn about

Analysis Of The StreetAndAngela s Ashes
Imagine: A young boy scavenges for food to provide for his impoverished family
which was composed of his ill mother and starving siblings or a homeless, single
mom desperatley seeking for shelter. These synopses from Angela s Ashes by Frank
McCourt and The Street by Ann Petry share a common theme: perseverance through
hardships. In Angela s Ashes, a memoir by Frank McCourt, he stells about the
harships he endured through his childhood, such as, struggling to assist his family in
the midst of poverty by stealing food to provide for them. Futhermore, in The Street,
a novel by Ann Petry, tells the story of young Lutie Johnson, a homeless single mom
who is seeking shelter for herself and her children. In these two excerpts, the authors
use the characters, settings, and events to develop the theme, which I ve identified as
perseverance through hardships. In McCourt s memoir, Angela s Ashes , he uses the
characters, settings, and events to develop the theme. In the quote, We don t laugh
long, there is no more breadand we re hungry, the four of us (McCourt 1). In this
quote, it is explaining how McCourt and his siblings constantly struggle with
hunger due to poverty. This quote assists in developing the theme by adding in the
starvation of the McCourt family which intensifies the theme of perseverance
through hardhips. An example of events developing the theme is exemplified
through the quote, I can t shove all that under my jersey. Oh, God. Should I take
the whole box? The people passing by pay me no attention. I might as well take the
whole box. My mother would say you might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. I
life the box and try to look like a messenger boy making a delivery and no one says
a word (McCourt 2). This quote tells the reader the lengths McCourt was willing to
go to in order to provide for his family. This develops the theme by showing how
McCourt perservered through difficult times in his childhood. You can look in
people s windows and see how cozy it is in their kitchens with fires glowing or ranges
black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and saucers on the tables
with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs and

Moving Beekeeping
How would our life change so much if the bee dies out?
With this question, I will discuss why the bees are important for humanity.
Furthermore, I want to illustrate a life without the bee and what are the reasons why
bees are dying so quickly. In connection with the bees, one sees much curiosities in
the world; the shortage of bees in America has made some of their own benefit and a
new branch of the economy has been created the moving beekeeping . Bee peas are

farmer to the next the bees are brought to pollute all sorts of plants. For the small
livestock are the great hardships, but the moving beekeeping deserves good money. It

Industrialization In New York City
One major problem found with industrialization is the development of political
machines. A political machine is a group that controls politics for financial gain.
One major political machine was located in New York City in the Tammany Hall
building led by Boss Tweed. William L. Riordan wrote about George Washington
Plunkitt who worked under Boss Tweed. He would use insider knowledge to make
a profit. Plunkitt would find out the city was going to build a jail, so he would buy
the land for the jail at a low rate then sell it to the city at a high rate. This would
create a profit to give back to Boss Tweed. Plunkitt would also help families that had
their houses burnt down to get them to agree to anything he said. This allows for the

Abuse of Prescription Drugs on College Campuses Essay
Abuse of Drugs on College Campuses
Today on college campuses, it is not possible to make it through college without
knowing someone who has at least tried a prescription drug or recreational drug for
either party uses, to help them study and keep up in school, or simply to help them
get by day to day. Maybe you have tried them yourself? College students all across the
nation are abusing substances such as Adderall, Vicodin, Oxycontin, marijuana,
cocaine, heroin, etc. Those students who drink alcohol are more likely to use
prescription drugs for non medical uses than non drinkers.

I have personally seen this happen with a friend who recently broke his leg. This
particular person has no more pain from the injury, but continues to take the
Vicodin for recreational purposes and sometimes drinks alcohol while taking
them. When mixing alcohol and Vicodin it causes an enhanced sedated feeling and
/or respiratory depression making the effects life threatening. In addition to
Vicodin, the pain killer Oxycontin is also widely abused. It is used to treat severe
pain that is expected to last a prolonged amount of time. Oxycontin has many
similar side effects of Vicodin along with sweating, itching, loss of appetite, and
severe weakness. It works by blocking the brain from receiving pain messages. The
reason Oxycontin is so dangerous is because it is highly addictive and is a central
nervous system depressant. It is believed that a younger healthier college student is
more likely to become addicted to the drug rather than an older adult taking it for
pain reasons. This is because taking Oxycontin to get high has a completely different
effect on the body ( Oxycontin ). Like most drugs, Oxycontin can be abused in many
different forms. It can be taken orally, crushed up and snorted, or dissolved and
injected. By crushing it up or injecting it, it causes an instant feeling of euphoria
when it enters the body. Oxycontin is often called poor man s heroin due to the fact
that they both have comparable effects. When the user is exposed to constant

Conceptual Framework And Literature Review
CHAPTER TWO
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK AND LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Literature Review
The aim of this literature review is to examine the complexities of the theoretical
discussion on the concepts and empirical research works on urban development,
peripheral development and metropolitan expansion in order to find a theoretical
place within the broader concept of urban growth effect on infrastructural
development of peripheral settlements. In an attempt to strike a balance between the
growth of cities and the attendant effects on the infrastructural facilities of peripheral
settlements, a reconciliation of various growth concepts of urban development need
to be forged, the relationship of these concepts was brought to the fore with the
literature review of the studies of urban physical growth showing that urbanisation
and city growth have received much attention in the literature on urban studies
(Ayogu 2003) but not many have had any of those study showing the economic,
social, and environmental effects of infrastructural facilities development on the
peripheral settlements. The literature review consists basically a thorough desk based
research of available materials linked to the subject in libraries and on the Internet.
The more recent literature is examined basically from the 1990s for the development
of the theoretical and conceptual discussions. Major scientific journals concerning
urban expansion and growth, peripheral development, metropolitan development and
The Television Show Duck Dynasty
We wanted to know how the television show Duck Dynasty became such a big part
of popular culture especially in the field of merchandising. We looked through web
articles about how the Robertson s family created an empire, what visual
merchandising is and its effects on Duck Dynasty merchandising, the politics they
have encountered so far, and the stereotypes they have revised and created. We
found that visual merchandising is one of the reasons the Robertson is so
successful, and that politics don t faze them; for they follow the Lord in all things.
We also found that the stereotype of the country boy has turned to redneck and that
beards is no longer just a symbol of masculinity but one of success thanks to the
Robertson family and ZZ Top. Based on the findings we are able to say that none of
these stereotypes are changing any time soon, or that the Duck Dynasty television
show and its merchandising are going to stop making huge profits for a very long
time in the future.
A Merchandising Empire: Duck Dynasty
In the last decade there has been a major change in popular culture concerning the
south and the subculture of rednecks. The cause of this change is none other than the
reality television show Duck Dynasty. This show has not only taken television by
storm, but also merchandising industries. Why and how Duck Dynasty has taken
over popular culture? To answer both questions we are going to look at four different
areas; subcultures supported by the show, how the
Lucy Pevensie s Influence Tactics And Charisma
Influence Tactics and Charisma
Two other factors played a huge role in Lucy s leadership: the way she influenced
others and the way they perceived her as a person. The influence tactics she uses
reflect her power type and the type of relationship between her and those she is
trying to influence. For most of the film, Lucy uses inspirational appeals with her
siblings to keep their spirits up and keep them focused on the tasks of rescuing
Edmund and saving Narnia. Inspirational appeals rely on emotional connection
(Hughes, Ginnett, Curphy, 2015, p. 69), which Lucy has established well in all of
her relationships. Personal appeals also have a large part in this, since this involves

How Did Jackie Robinson Life Change
faced turning points, Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced
life changing experiences that changed both their lives and their country. Jackie
Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the World
Series and Major League Baseball during a time of segregation in America. These
life changing events challenged him because he had to face racially tense crowds
and endured threats from teammates, opponents, and bigoted fans. In paragraph
three, Robinson states, There were threats against me and my family and even out
and out attempts at physical harm to me. This quote explains that Jackie Robinson
was facing racist people who were threatening him. Despite the racism he faced,
Robinson learned to have pride in his accomplishments and appreciate the support
courage, and love shown by his supporters. In paragraph eleven, Robinson states, I
don t think i ll ever forget the small, shrill voice of a tiny white kid who, in the
midst of a racially tense atmosphere during an early game in a Dixie town, cried out
Attaboy Jackie . This quote explains how Robinson had pride in himself after a tiny
white kid motivated him by encouraging him that he was a really good baseball
player. Robinson responded to the life changing events by not giving up when he was
getting hate and racism. In paragraph three, it states, Within the club, Mr. Rickey had
put down rebellion that by letting my teammates know that anyone who didn t want

Brexit Literature Review
Literature review: In September 2017 Thomas Sampson from The London School of
Economics and Political Science wrote a Literature on Brexit. The title of the
literature was Brexit: The Economics of International Disintegration. In this literature
review I will briefly summarise the literature wrote by Thomas Sampson.
Brexit is a term commonly known as Britain exiting from European Union
membership. The historic referendum on the UK and EU membership held on June
23, 2016. Although majority of Londoner wanted to stay with EU, 52 percent voters
voted to support the leave campaign to leave European Union. Since World War two
the world saw a rising trend of economic development and globalization in Europe.
Brexit has ended this trend. Since United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, every country has different currency and different legislation. They
follow different set of rules and the value of currency differs from one country to
another. According to EU s rule and regulations member states don t pay extra tax
because they are a part of single access market. But for example another country
outside of EU needs to pay tax and there is cost involved when the products or
goods cross borders. Since Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein are not European
Union s member states they pay higher tax to enter in European Union area
moreover they are entitled to follow their rules and regulation and their own tariffs.
If UK decides to not to be a part of EEA or single access market they will be subject
to trade barriers. As a result Britain will loss vast amount of profit which they made
when they were part of EU.
Due to Brexit London Stock Exchange crashed and it saw trillions of pounds wiped
off from UK s share market. The share market became volatile. The investors of UK
s share market decided to move their funds to other European share market in
Germany and Ireland and France. As a result pound lost its exchange value for the

Discourse Organization on Asian Fashion Blogs
Chapter 1
Discourse Organization of Asian Fashion Blogs
Introduction
Background of the study
Blogging has emerged as one of the most popular forms of online discourse. The
ease and lack of expense in setting blogs has raised intriguing possibilities for
language learning in social media. The unique nature of its architecture and its low
cost have not only affected how different bloggers can publish and distribute their
work to a wider audience but also how they see themselves as writers. According to
Blood (2002), blogs have been used in various ways: as online journals, a means of
designing hypertexts, and more radically, to create what calls the first native form of
discourse on the internet. She argues that blogging best reflects ... Show more content

To enrich further the structure of each blog, genre analysis will also be considered.
This may identify if fashion blogging belongs in a specific genre by studying how
the ESL and EFL bloggers use the language when writing.
The focus of this study is on the discourse organization of Asian fashion blogs.
Considering their writing style, comparing the blogs of these particular Asian
countries that are categorized into two groups will be done throughout the study.
Statement of the problem
This study aims to answer the following questions: 1. What are the structures of a
fashion blog? 2. What are the similarities and the differences between the fashion
blogs of ESL and EFL writers?
Significance of the study
College students of English Language Related Programs
Knowing that blog can also be studied as it is a part of our social world, this study
can still be given more attention by giving further enrichment by the future
researchers. They can provide new findings supported by different related literatures.
As the traditional way of analysing language data from academic institutions, this
paper will thoroughly investigate the language used in fashion blogs. This will
further explore the online discourse by plunging into the grounds of computer
mediated communication (CMC).

Career Cover Letter
Careers are hard to come by and getting the right one is harder. Although you would
want to collect the correct job, and have a perfect resume, it needs to be done right.
A Career is an occupation during a time in a human s life, careers are needed to
collect payment. To survive, a career or job is needed. Some people decide to not
get jobs, but it leads to ruin in their lifestyle. The only way to make a living is to
earn money, by working hard, in your career . in this paper i will be talking about
Non traditional Jobs, job applications and Resume/ cover letters. This is going to go
over what these topics are, how they relate to to careers.
NonTraditional Jobs are stereotypical type of jobs, they are separated into two types
of categories. They have the Male jobs and the female jobs, but they are separated in
a stereotypical manner. Male jobs range around the more masculine jobs, and hard
duty. As for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep it professional, and do not seem desperate, and you want them to think that you
have other options as well, you are going to want to make them think that they want
you. Maybe actually want you in the job, But you do not want to make the cover letter
really unnecessarily long. At the top of your cover letter what you want to add is
a big header, The biggest words on your cover letter should be your name. Under
your name you would want to add your address, The city you live in along with
your state and zip code, Your telephone number, and your email. Then you would
want to add a space in between and add the date, and then add the recipient name,
title, the company you re sending it to, the address, the city, state, and zip code of
the company as well. Then you would start writing, you want to seem nice and
sweet, but at the same time not too sweet. You want to act like a human and not a
child begging for a lollipop. Keep it cool, and
I Am My Am Mike
I am Mike. I am 15 years old and my parents just got divorced. My father didn t
want to claim me and my mom didn t want to take on the work of taking care of me
by herself. So my parents went to court and they got divorced. My mom moved to
California and my dad moved to New York. My grandparents claimed me and took
me to their home in England. Since I moved to the UK, I had to go to a new
school. My grandparents, Larry and Michelle, told me that I would go to an
academy 30 minutes away when there was one that was only five minutes away. I
felt a little vexed that I was forced to go to a school that was farther away when
there was one so close. But I followed their orders. Since I moved to my
grandparents house in September, school just started. My grandparents told me to
pack my luggage with clothes. I asked why and Larry said, The school you are
going to is a boarding school. When I heard him say this, I was shocked. I wasn t
expecting to live at my school that was only 30 minutes away from my
grandparents house. But again I didn t argue because I didn t know what they
would do and I didn t want to know. Therefore, I packed my belongings as I thought
about the boarding school. I had many thoughts like what if my grandparents don t
want to take care of me and they just wanted me to stay at school, and why does
their house look so ugly. The bedroom I was in had pictures of old people and the
bed sheets had blood stains on them... After I looked at the blood stains I became
Symbolism In Pat Conroy s The Water Is Wide
Pat Conroy s memoir, The Water is Wide, is about his life on Daufuskie Island,
also known as Yamacraw Island in the book. Conroy spent a year teaching on the
island in a little two room schoolhouse. The Yamacrawans were rural African
American people that by leaving on the island had basically no knowledge of
anything beyond the island. Conroy tells of all the troubles he faced while
teaching on the island and all the struggles he faced with outside forces. Conroy
uses the setting, the title of his book, symbolism, and different themes to express
what the year he spent teaching there was like. The setting of the novel is the
south, on an island just off the coast of South Carolina. The island is connected to
the mainland of South Carolina by a river, and the only way to get on or off the
island is by boat. Conroy uses the setting of this book to reveal just how cut off the
Yamacrawans are from the real world , and how much this has affected the
students he is working with. Conroy states that The twentieth century has basically
ignored the presence of Yamacraw (Conroy 3), . The students have no idea what
kind of world they are living in, All around the room sat human beings of various
sizes and hues who were not aware that a world surrounded them, a world they
would be forced to enter, and enter soon (Conroy 37) , and this worries Conroy. The
title of the book is also an important part of the story. Pat Conroychose this title in
reflection of the river between the
Marble Racing to Find a Liqid s Viscosity
Race Your Marbles to Discover a Liquid s Viscosity
Which Liquid Has the Highest Viscosity?
In this project we will determine the viscosities of 5 separate liquids. The liquids we
will test are corn syrup, honey, vegetable oil, milk, and water. We will find their
viscosities by dropping a marble into each of these liquids and measuring the time it
takes for it to reach the bottom. Before we conduct the experiment, we must first
understand what viscosity is. Viscosity is the quantity that describes a fluid s
resistance to flow .1 It is essentially fluid friction and transforms kinetic energy of
motion into heat energy, just as friction ( the force between surfaces in contact that
resists their relative tangential motion ) does between ... Show more content on

This equation is not a law of nature, but a reasonable first approximation. Liquids
such as water and some gases fit this criterion and are called Newtonian fluids.
Water is an example of a Newtonian fluid because, no matter how fast it is stirred
or mixed, it still exemplifies properties of a fluid. When stirring or mixing a non
Newtonian fluid a hole is left behind. It may also become thinner and more
viscous. Jean Louis Marie Poiseuille was interested in the flow of human blood and
formulated Poiseuille s Law. He made a series of tubes to test uniform viscous
liquids in. These successfully modeled the blood flow in capillaries and veins,
flow through a drinking straw, air flow in lung alveoli, or through a needle. The
equation he used was: [pic] where: О”P is the pressure drop L is the length of pipe
Ој is the dynamic viscosity Q is the volumetric flow rate r is the radius ПЂ is pi
In order to form a hypothesis of which fluid has the highest viscosity, we must also
have knowledge of each fluid we will test. Corn syrup is glucose syrup that is made
from cornstarch. The viscosity and sweetness of it depends on the amount of
hydrolysis it undergoes. It is most commonly used as a thickener, a sweetener, and in
maintaining a food s freshness. Honey
The Importance Of Being Earnest By Wilde
The Importance of Being Earnest , is utilised by Wilde to draw attention to the
superficiality of the social facades predominantly maintained by the upper classes,
through the physical depiction of Jack and Algernon s aliases. Wilde further
exemplifies his discontent with widespread social conventions at the time by
satirising the arrogance of the aristocracy with a constant underlying
representation of the lower classes as a more humble and less pretentious social
division. Moreover, the playwright embeds heavy hypocrisy and explores the
general understanding of what it means to be earnest in order to mimic and
highlight the flaws of Victorian society at the time. In Act 1, Jack is discovered to
have been using the false identity of Ernest Worthing while in town in order to
escape his responsibilities in the country, while Algernon is revealed to be using a
fictional character of his own to escape arduous social obligations. The two
protagonists must use these aliases to enable them to defy the typical social
expectations of the late nineteenth century. Wilde employs this substantial element of
the play to epitomise his view that the breadth of social requirements can become
overbearing; the simple fact that Jack and Algernon feel the need lie extensively to
gain a sense of social satisfaction indicates the great depth of societal constrictions
placed upon the upper class. This becomes apparent when Algernon attempts to make
use of his fabricated relative in order
Why We Can t Have Nice Things
In one beautiful, fluid arc, the pie slid off the table. Time slowed down for a
moment as the pie drifted lazily through the air, individual flecks of whipped cream
flying gently behind it like streamers on a maypole in the wind. It finished the circle
and landed perfectly flat on the carpet, a trail of key limecarnage dripping the few
feet from the table to the landing point. There was a full beat of silence, and then
the chaos really set in. FITZ! Are you kidding me, Tom, I didn t even touch it, you

In reality, though, I had made friends mercifully early on in my freshman year. The

Demand analysis
From 1994 to 1997, the number of infants born in US is around 10 million (birth to
30months). A baby, on average, uses five diapers per day for 30 months, for a total of
4500 diapers. At an average retail price in the range of 18 to 27 cents per diapers,
each baby represents about 1012.5 dollars in retail sales. The retail dollar value of
the US disposable diapers market was estimated to be 3.39 billion dollars in 1997.
The retail dollar value of the training pants and young pants market was estimated to
be 595 million dollars in 1997.
Distribution channels
Disposable diapers and training pants are distributed principally through grocery
stores, drugstores and mass merchants. Grocery stores accounted for
approximately 2 billion dollars in diapers and training pants retail sale in 1997.
Grocery store distribution of diapers and training pants has been decreasing as a
percentage of total retail sales since 1994. Grocery Stores accounted for 51.2% of
retail sales in 1997, compared with 60% in 1994.
Mass merchants and drugstores recorded diaper and training pants retail sales of
about 1.9 billion dollars in 1997. Mass merchants have increased their share of
total diaper and training pants retail sales from 30% in 1994 to 39.4% in 1997. The
drugstore share of diaper and training pants retail sales has declined from 10% in
1994 to 9.2% in 1997.

Food Culture in Vietnam and America
When we discuss about the differences between Vietnamese and America culture, we
can think of many things such as History, Style of Music, Arts, Religion, Language,
etc. And, I will tell you some differences and similarities in eating culture of the two
countries. Even though they both have things in common such as family s dinner, tea
and coffee for morning, three meals a day or small snacks between main meals. But,
the food cultures of two countries are different in many ways including kinds of

The basic food in Vietnam is dry; the meals usually come with rice, vegetables,
eggs, and small amounts of meat and fish. Although similar to Chinese cooking,
Vietnamese cooking uses little fat or oil for frying. Fish sauce is a main spice in
almost every Vietnamese dish. In addition, they drink a large amount of hot green tea
and coffee without adding sugar, milk, or lemon. As same as Vietnamese, in America
they have three meals a day with some snacking on fruits and
Physician Assisted Suicides
Imagine suffering day to day with consistent hospital visits, numerous medications,
and unbearable pain for the next six months of your life, then being told that dying
peacefully is not a granted privilege. Then imagine not being able to die in a
controlled and dignified process like you prefer to. How would that affect the way
you feel about deathand the rest of your life you have left? Millions of people
suffering from terminal illnesses consider physician assisted suicide, but their wishes
are rejected due to state and government beliefs. In fact, only five states out of fifty
have a law permitting citizens the right to participate in physician assisted suicide.
That leaves just only 10% of the United States entitling critically ill patients to die
with nobility. However, many citizens are commencing to lean toward physician
assisted suicides once they ascertain they hold a terminal illness.... Show more content

With self interest, patients inquire a legal doctor about their privilege of a controlled
death by oral medication. Physician Assisted Suicides allow a competent adult
resident of the state to obtain a prescription from a physician for a lethal dose of
medication, for the purpose of causing death through self administration (Ganzini 77).
Aid in dying is a term commonly used for physician assisted suicide. In other words,
Physician Assisted Suicides permit terminal patients and physicians to work together
to accommodate a licit planned death. Furthermore, with the permission of AID, a
physician writes a prescription for the life ending medication for a terminally ill,

Coal As A Social Issue
The social issue that was chose for my lesson was centered on the use of coal. Coal
is an ever growing problem around the world, and students need to become more
aware of the negative effects that coal causes because many people are losing sight
of the cause and effect between our coal use and our environment. The topic is
interesting because even though most individuals have a drive to decrease their
carbon footprint and are making necessary changes to use natural resources are
energy sources, the United States of American is still very dependent on coal. It is
important for students to become more aware of their energy uses and know the
impacts that come along with energy consumptions. Students may not realize the

  • 1. Bob Marley Biography Essay Crafting an essay on the life and legacy of Bob Marley is no simple task. The challenge lies not just in narrating the chronological events of his biography but in capturing the essence of a cultural icon, a musical revolutionary, and a symbol of resistance. Bob Marley's life is a rich tapestry woven with threads of reggae music, Rastafarian spirituality, political activism, and personal struggles. To encapsulate the complexities of his journey, one must delve deep into the cultural and historical context of Jamaica, the birthplace of reggae, and explore Marley's profound influence on the genre. Additionally, addressing the impact of his Rastafarian beliefs, which intertwined with his music and lifestyle, adds layers of depth to the narrative. Moreover, the essay should navigate through the socio-political landscape of Jamaica during Marley's time, reflecting on his commitment to social justice and his tireless efforts to bring about change through his music. His experiences with poverty, discrimination, and the volatile political climate of the era are crucial components that demand meticulous attention. Balancing the portrayal of Marley as a musical genius and a cultural icon with the realities of his personal life, including his health struggles and family dynamics, adds a nuanced dimension to the biography. Conveying the emotions embedded in his lyrics and the impact of his music on a global scale requires a delicate touch. • 2. The New Symbolic Consumers For Fashion Brands 5. Discussion The study has followed several sets of key previous research findings and contributed to the new symbolic consumers model as explained in the following seven arguments. First, Baudrillard (1993, 1994, 1998) theory, symbolic consumption, as a focal notion of the study, is found to be a good foundation to understand consumers purchasing decisions for fashion brands. The findings show that consumers choose brands which have relevance or desired symbolic value for them. Not only Baudrillard, the findings are also in line with the studies of Dittmar (1992, 1994, 2004, 2008), Elliott Wattanasuwan (1998a) and Wattanasuwan (2003, 2005) regarding how consumers use fashion products; symbolic consumption is used to represent actual self identity, and also to create ideal self identity. Furthermore, Baudrillard s sign system can be applied to explicate the process of the signification of fashion brands. The sign system leads to a new model of symbolic consumers, which is used to illustrate the interrelationship between all consumer influences. Baudrillard proposed that consumers from different backgrounds interpret fashion symbolism differently. The findings revealed that fashion brands marketing elements are translated based on respondents experience. The findings also support Grubb and Grathwohl s (1967) model stating that the signification of fashion goods is generated by the symbolic exchange transactions of groups. Hence, internal and external influences
  • 3. Can Contemporary Organisations Learn Anything Useful from... W ith regarding to the rapid pace of technological innovation, the contemporary organizations prefer to use the more mature theory then the new issued study. I don t think Stace and Dunphy s situational approach can satisfy all the condition on the whole organization change; however, it should be something useful for the contemporary organizations. There are four types of change are defined by Dunphy and Stace (1993): type1: F ine tuning; type2: Incremental Adjustment; type3: Modular transformation; type4: Corporate transformation. F ine tuning changes are characterized by small changes to an organization s strategy, structure, people, or processes, Dunphy and Stace suggest(1993) that these changes are typically manifested at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modular transformation is change identified by major shifts of one or several departments or divisions. In contrast to incremental adjustment this change can be radical (RUNE TODNEM, 2005, pp 377). Although the new technology companies are developed and applied rapidly, realign departments or divisions is often used in the current traditional companies. It proved this type of change is also useful for the contemporary organizational. Corporate transformation is corporation wide, characterized by radical shifts in business strategy, and revolutionary changes throughout the whole organization (Alannah E. Rafferty, Roland H. Simons, 2006, pp 329). TQM change thus requires corporate transformation since it impacts on mission and core values, affects the power distribution in the organization, impacts on structures, systems and procedures, affects interaction patterns and communication networks, and requires transformational leadership to implement (Morris Abraham, John Crawford, Tom F isher, 1999, pp 113). Dunphy and Stace s (1993) research with 13 service sector organizations in Australia, which had gone through large scale change indicates that for transformational change, a directive/coercive style of leadership is likely to be most successful. Whereas, for incremental adjustment or fine tuning, a consultative/collaborative type

  • 7. The Smoke Signals Forgiveness Essay The Smoke Signals Forgiveness Smoke Signals, written by Sherman Alexie and directed by Chris Eyre, begins on July 4, 1976 on the Coeur d Alene Reservation. Arnold Joseph (Gary Farmer), drunk while celebrating the independence , lit off a firework and set the Builds the Fire residence on fire, killing the parents of Thomas Builds the Fire. Many people were already asleep in the house when the fire started, so no one saw Arnold s mistake, which he kept a secret from the whole reservation. Both Thomas Builds the Fire (Evan Adams) and VictorJoseph (Adam Beach), Arnold s son, were saved from the burning house. Arnold ran to catch Thomas in his arms after Thomas was thrown from a window. Victor and Thomas grew up together. After the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One day, Arlene received a call from Arnold s neighbor in Phoenix, Suzy Song (Irene Bedard), saying that Arnold had died and that someone should probably come down to Phoenix to take care of the death. This meant that Victor had to take a bus to Phoenix to get Arnold s possessions and drive his truck back to the reservation. There was just one problem, Victor didn t have the money for a bus pass, but Thomas did. The catch was, if Thomas gave Victor some money to go to Phoenix, Thomas got to come along too. Victor had no other choice but to accept the offer. And the journey begins. Victor and Thomas had never been off the reservation before. They experienced what it s really like to be a Native American in the real world. On the bus ride there, two white men took their seats and made rude comments about them being Native Americans. They received a lot of stares and uncomfortable looks from people as well. The bus ride to Phoenix was hard for Victor because he had to deal with Thomas talking the whole time. Victor especially didn t like it when Thomas brought up his father in conversation. In Phoenix, Thomas and Victor walked many miles through the desert to get to Arnold s old trailer. Suzy Song lived in a trailer there as well. They met Suzy right away, and she was very helpful. She and Thomas told stories to each
  • 8. Edifices to the Gods and Social Perception of A Nation Edifices to the Gods and Social Perception of A Nation Extraordinary constructions of monuments seem to have been the staple for the ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilization yet their purposes proved somewhat different. For the Sumerian civilization, the construction of the ancient monuments served a multiple purpose as social, economic and religious centers and in the latter half of the third millennium B.C.E. the Ur based civilization focused on building schemes for their administrative, economic and agricultural benefits. In contrast, the Egyptian civilization during the peak of the Fourth Dynasty s power during the reign of the first three rulers of the dynasty: Cheops, Khufu and Menkuare] focused on building projects aimed at edifying the political and religious power of the civilization (Wake 29). Indeed, one needs only consider the fact that while the pyramids of Egypt served as funereal complexes for their rulers the ziggurats of ancient Mesopotamia served as cultural museums and offices for their people. The period between 2112 B.C.E. and 2004 B.C.E. were the peak in Sumerian civilization s development and were stereotyped by the construction of public monuments such as the sanctuary complex for Nanna between 2112 B.C.E. and 2047 B.C.E. While historians note that the monument edified Ur Nammu, the dynastic patriarch of the Ur based civilization, the monument served as a palatial complex, store room for grain and wines, and a temple complex housing the

  • 10. Social Norm In Moby Dick All men live enveloped in whale lines. All are born with halters round their necks; but it is only when caught in the swift, sudden turn of death, that mortals realize the silent, subtle, ever present perils of life. (Melville, 1851) The creation of Moby Dick was a significant turning point for American literature. Melville s application of intense symbolism, challenging themes, and extraordinary allusions contrast with that of typical American writings of that time. In fact, many Americans rejected the novel due to the fact Moby Dick explicates realism that many Americans neglected to comprehend in the 19th century; many Americans were not aware the immoral social norms they practiced. In this way, Melville utilized Moby Dick as an allegory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, Melville addressed allusions to Greek Mythology including the three Fates who conducted the strings of life and destiny. In Moby Dick, the crew seized destiny into their own hands; however, in the end, life and death were augured by the harpoon ropes. Ahab stooped to clear it; he did clear it; but the flying turn caught him round the neck, and voicelessly as Turkish mutes bowstring their victim, he was shot out of the boat, ere the crew knew he was gone. Next instant, the heavy eye splice in the rope s final end flew out of the stark empty tub, knocked down an oarsman, and smiting the sea, disappeared in its depths. (Melville, 1851) Despite the attempt of the crew, they were not the deciders of fate. On the other hand, this was similar to Americans at the time. Americans used God to justify their iniquities including treatment of races and expansion. As stated previously, America s justified the Manifest Destiny as God s word; thus, generating a strong sense of nationalism. Americans concluded God constructed them as the superior nation, and many Americans grew audacious. In fact, many felt America should only be for Americans, not foreign immigrants. Some went as far as violence to voice their opinion, similar to Ahabd s revenge against the whale. At the same time, Americans also removed Native Americans and enslaved African Americans. Needless to say,
  • 11. Anne Sexton The Bells Anne Sexton was a troubled woman. She often felt neglected by her parents; unloved even, so much so that she attempted suicide. Before she succeeded in 1974, Sexton used hundreds of poems to confess her feelings. One such poem is The Bells , a seemingly simple memory of a trip to the circus. However, poetrycan never be looked at through one lens. Instead, one must look deeper to understand the message the poet is attempting to convey. And so, through a different a lens, this memory becomes a story of an incredibly complex father daughter relationship. Before analyzing the meaning, a reader must first notice the style of the poem itself. Anne Sexton, being a part of the confessionalism period, writes in first person. This deepens the suspicion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite this being only the first line, diction is already important. Sexton specifically chose the word scabbed, as scabs cover wounds. Perhaps a scab is covering the wounded father daughter relationship. Line 5 furthers this idea, as Sexton writes Father, do you remember? . This line is key in understanding the father daughter relationship, as it has many meanings. For one, Sexton purposely chose Father, rather than Dad or Daddy. Father is more formal; it shows the distance between father and daughter. Sexton also asks this question because she wants to make sure this memory means as much to him as it does to her. The idea is furthered by lines 9 10, as they read ...and how the bells/ trembled for the flying man. The reader must pay close attention to the bells, as it is the title. Sexton uses this metaphor to symbolize the negative feelings to her father. The bells tremble, as Sexton would have, because she is scared. This idea is contradicted, however, by the end of stanza one. Sexton depicts a typical father daughter relationship; a child laughing on his shoulders. She depicts a relationship she wishes she

  • 13. A Comparison Between Macbeth And The Bible There are multiple connections between Macbeth and the Bible, the strongest of which are seen in the two books from the Bible, Genesis and 1 Samuel. Macbeth takes the characters of Adam and Eve from Genesis, and uses them as a basis for the two main characters of Macbeth , Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Just as Eve tempts Adam to go against the direct instruction of God, Lady Macbethconvinces Macbeth to murder the king, Lady Macbeth and Eve are both seen as the temptress to Macbeth and Adam, and they are punished equally in both stories, either by death, or expulsion from their home with God. 1 Samuel demonstrates the origins of the Divine Right of Kings: that no one was able to go against the King, for he was God s appointed one. Macbeth takes it further and demonstrates what happens to the one who does kill the King, that they bring upon themselves only misery, and eventually death. Macbeth and the Bible have numerous resemblances to each other, indicating how Shakespeare used his Biblical knowledge, which was common in the Elizabethan era, to influence his plays. There is a strong connection between story lines of Macbeth and Genesis chapter three. They both have a man and a woman, who are associated with prominent individuals, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are associated with King Duncan, and Adam and Eve and in the Garden of Eden with God. They hear of a way, or prophecy which could raise them to a higher position, either King, or equal to God. In both instances, they

  • 15. The Significant Roles Of Citizen Journalism And The Role... When it comes to journalism, citizen journalism is not any different from what democracy is when it comes to politics and civic life. It allows for the active participation of the citizens in news gathering and reporting. The advancements that have taken place in the field of technology have enabled people to gain an opportunity to become producers of content that they used to be consumers of in the past through the mainstream media. Today, everyone has an opportunity to become a citizen journalist (Allan and Einar 76). There is an array of social media platforms and accounts whose key role is to disseminate information to the public, especially in cases where individuals may feel that conventional journalismwould want to shield the public from some information. Citizen journalists employ an extensive range of methods in the generation and dissemination of information. Much of these are driven by the advancements that have taken place in the field of technology and the forms of communication available to the public. These include the internet, the mobile phone, and the different camera gadgets which can all be employed in the gathering and sharing of information (DeMers, 89). One of the significant roles that citizen journalism could play in the society would be to fill the gap that is often left by traditional media as they try to play their role as the protector of public interest. The internet provides the technical means, while the citizens play the active
  • 16. Counter Painkillers The Dangers of Over The Counter Painkillers When one has a headache or is in pain, he or she takes a pill or two and then that s it, the pain is gone, and everything is fine, right? Not necessarily. A lot of adults do not follow or know the recommended dosage for OTC (Over The Counter) pain medications. This is a serious issue because overdosing on these painkillers can have very detrimental affects on the body. According to a pharmacist of the Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 50% of patients do not take the amount of medicine they are directed (Engle). The number of accidental adult overdose on OTC pain medication, such as TYLENOLВ®, MucinexВ®, and NyquilВ®, has sharply risen in recent years with a 27% increase in the amount of overdoses from the period of 2005 2010 alone (Gerth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, when misused they can damage the body. More drugs in the last two years have been changed from prescription only medication to over the counter medication than in the last decade (Blenkinsopp). The major reason for this is because most OTC medications contain acetaminophen, which is a pain and fever reducer. It is currently the most common medicine for pain relief in the United States (Greenlaw). The problem with acetaminophen is that it can severely damage your liver tissue and skin. You have a beautiful website up and running, and now you need to get it in front of people who are interested in what you have to offer. The two big ways of doing this are search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO). They both have some advantages and disadvantages. Defining our terms is typically a good place to start. Some see SEO as being one element within SEM, which can include other elements such as paid search marketing. Lately, many see a clearer distinction between the two. Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing all the elements on your website and between your website and other sites in order to increase its rank in what s known as the organic search results. When discussing search engine marketing, digital marketing professionals are typically referring to the process of engaging in paid advertising on the search engines. Search Engine Optimization Search engine optimization is basically any action you do to your website that gets the search engines to consider it to be a relevant search result to display when someone types in a search term in Google, Bing or any other search engine. These actions, therefore, include optimizing the meta data and content of your website for these keywords. As I climbed the carpeted stairs up to the second floor of the office complex, I remember the gnawing feeling of not knowing what to expect. When I entered the room, the counselor and I quickly got through the necessary salutations before she sat me down and asked, Where do you want to go to high school? . By lowering the activation energy, they can increase the rate of reactions. Enzyme amylases such as Bacillus Licheniformis and Aspergillus Oryzae split starch polymers into smaller subunits called monomers. The lab displayed how divergent temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase and reveal the optimal temperature for the fungal and bacteria amylase. To set up the experiment, eight test tubes are necessary. Four of the test tubes will be labeled for the bacteria and the remaining four will be labeled fungi. Each test tube will be labeled for a specific temperature (0вЃ°, 25вЃ°, 55вЃ°, 85вЃ° Celsius) and another 4 for the starch solution. Two spot plates are required which will be used to record and analyze each reaction every two minutes by adding iodine to the well of the spot plate. After gathering the information you will need to determine what color represents the greatest reaction can be determined by the color (Black Yellow). It is important to collect and compare every group s data in order to obtain accurate results. After going over all the results, one can conclude that the best temperature for the reaction to occur in this solution is at 55вЃ° Celsius which would be the enzyme s optimal level. Knowing what temperature works best for enzymes allows for a faster and more efficient use of these reactions. Without enzymes, the reactions would be too slow to keep the cells

British Women Writers During The Romantic Period British Women Writers during the Romantic period Like the minority writer, the female writer exists within an inescapable condition of identity which distances her from the mainstream of the culture and forces her either to stress her separation from the masculine literary tradition or to pursue her resemblance to it. These synopses from Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt and The Street by Ann Petry share a common theme: perseverance through hardships. In Angela s Ashes, a memoir by Frank McCourt, he stells about the harships he endured through his childhood, such as, struggling to assist his family in the midst of poverty by stealing food to provide for them. Futhermore, in The Street, a novel by Ann Petry, tells the story of young Lutie Johnson, a homeless single mom who is seeking shelter for herself and her children. In these two excerpts, the authors use the characters, settings, and events to develop the theme, which I ve identified as perseverance through hardships. In McCourt s memoir, Angela s Ashes , he uses the characters, settings, and events to develop the theme. In the quote, We don t laugh long, there is no more breadand we re hungry, the four of us (McCourt 1). In this quote, it is explaining how McCourt and his siblings constantly struggle with hunger due to poverty. This quote assists in developing the theme by adding in the starvation of the McCourt family which intensifies the theme of perseverance through hardhips. An example of events developing the theme is exemplified through the quote, I can t shove all that under my jersey. Oh, God. Should I take the whole box? The people passing by pay me no attention. I might as well take the whole box. My mother would say you might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. I life the box and try to look like a messenger boy making a delivery and no one says a word (McCourt 2). This quote tells the reader the lengths McCourt was willing to go to in order to provide for his family. This develops the theme by showing how McCourt perservered through difficult times in his childhood. A political machine is a group that controls politics for financial gain. One major political machine was located in New York City in the Tammany Hall building led by Boss Tweed. William L. Riordan wrote about George Washington Plunkitt who worked under Boss Tweed. He would use insider knowledge to make a profit. Plunkitt would find out the city was going to build a jail, so he would buy the land for the jail at a low rate then sell it to the city at a high rate. This would create a profit to give back to Boss Tweed. Plunkitt would also help families that had their houses burnt down to get them to agree to anything he said. This allows for the political

College students all across the nation are abusing substances such as Adderall, Vicodin, Oxycontin, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, etc. Those students who drink alcohol are more likely to use prescription drugs for non medical uses than non drinkers. This particular person has no more pain from the injury, but continues to take the Vicodin for recreational purposes and sometimes drinks alcohol while taking them. When mixing alcohol and Vicodin it causes an enhanced sedated feeling and /or respiratory depression making the effects life threatening. In addition to Vicodin, the pain killer Oxycontin is also widely abused. It is used to treat severe pain that is expected to last a prolonged amount of time. Oxycontin has many similar side effects of Vicodin along with sweating, itching, loss of appetite, and severe weakness. It works by blocking the brain from receiving pain messages. The reason Oxycontin is so dangerous is because it is highly addictive and is a central nervous system depressant. It is believed that a younger healthier college student is more likely to become addicted to the drug rather than an older adult taking it for pain reasons. This is because taking Oxycontin to get high has a completely different effect on the body ( Oxycontin ). Like most drugs, Oxycontin can be abused in many different forms. It can be taken orally, crushed up and snorted, or dissolved and injected. By crushing it up or injecting it, it causes an instant feeling of euphoria when it enters the body. Oxycontin is often called poor man s heroin due to the fact that they both have comparable effects. When the user is exposed to constant amounts of

We looked through web articles about how the Robertson s family created an empire, what visual merchandising is and its effects on Duck Dynasty merchandising, the politics they have encountered so far, and the stereotypes they have revised and created. We found that visual merchandising is one of the reasons the Robertson is so successful, and that politics don t faze them; for they follow the Lord in all things. We also found that the stereotype of the country boy has turned to redneck and that beards is no longer just a symbol of masculinity but one of success thanks to the Robertson family and ZZ Top. Based on the findings we are able to say that none of these stereotypes are changing any time soon, or that the Duck Dynasty television show and its merchandising are going to stop making huge profits for a very long time in the future. • 50. Symbolism In Pat Conroy s The Water Is Wide Pat Conroy s memoir, The Water is Wide, is about his life on Daufuskie Island, also known as Yamacraw Island in the book. Conroy spent a year teaching on the island in a little two room schoolhouse. The Yamacrawans were rural African American people that by leaving on the island had basically no knowledge of anything beyond the island. Conroy tells of all the troubles he faced while teaching on the island and all the struggles he faced with outside forces. Conroy uses the setting, the title of his book, symbolism, and different themes to express what the year he spent teaching there was like. The setting of the novel is the south, on an island just off the coast of South Carolina. The island is connected to the mainland of South Carolina by a river, and the only way to get on or off the island is by boat. Conroy uses the setting of this book to reveal just how cut off the Yamacrawans are from the real world , and how much this has affected the students he is working with. Conroy states that The twentieth century has basically ignored the presence of Yamacraw (Conroy 3), . The students have no idea what kind of world they are living in, All around the room sat human beings of various sizes and hues who were not aware that a world surrounded them, a world they would be forced to enter, and enter soon (Conroy 37) , and this worries Conroy. The title of the book is also an important part of the story. Pat Conroychose this title in reflection of the river between the

Before we conduct the experiment, we must first understand what viscosity is. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This equation is not a law of nature, but a reasonable first approximation. Liquids such as water and some gases fit this criterion and are called Newtonian fluids. Water is an example of a Newtonian fluid because, no matter how fast it is stirred or mixed, it still exemplifies properties of a fluid. When stirring or mixing a non Newtonian fluid a hole is left behind. It may also become thinner and more viscous. Jean Louis Marie Poiseuille was interested in the flow of human blood and formulated Poiseuille s Law. He made a series of tubes to test uniform viscous liquids in. These successfully modeled the blood flow in capillaries and veins, flow through a drinking straw, air flow in lung alveoli, or through a needle. The equation he used was: [pic] where: О”P is the pressure drop L is the length of pipe Ој is the dynamic viscosity Q is the volumetric flow rate r is the radius ПЂ is pi In order to form a hypothesis of which fluid has the highest viscosity, we must also have knowledge of each fluid we will test. • 52. The Importance Of Being Earnest By Wilde The Importance of Being Earnest , is utilised by Wilde to draw attention to the superficiality of the social facades predominantly maintained by the upper classes, through the physical depiction of Jack and Algernon s aliases. Wilde further exemplifies his discontent with widespread social conventions at the time by satirising the arrogance of the aristocracy with a constant underlying representation of the lower classes as a more humble and less pretentious social division. Moreover, the playwright embeds heavy hypocrisy and explores the general understanding of what it means to be earnest in order to mimic and highlight the flaws of Victorian society at the time. In Act 1, Jack is discovered to have been using the false identity of Ernest Worthing while in town in order to escape his responsibilities in the country, while Algernon is revealed to be using a fictional character of his own to escape arduous social obligations. The two protagonists must use these aliases to enable them to defy the typical social expectations of the late nineteenth century. Wilde employs this substantial element of the play to epitomise his view that the breadth of social requirements can become overbearing; the simple fact that Jack and Algernon feel the need lie extensively to gain a sense of social satisfaction indicates the great depth of societal constrictions placed upon the upper class. This becomes apparent when Algernon attempts to make use of his fabricated relative in order
