William Gibson s The Miracle Worker
In the book The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, Gibson utilizes diverse dramatic technique, props
and finger spelling in order to represent the internal and external conflicts between Helen Keller, and
Annie Sullivan throughout the play. Annie, the miracle worker who used to be blind has an external
conflict with Helen, who is blind, deaf, and partly mute. However, throughout the act, the relationship
starts to build and develops to a happy ending. Annie, who lost her loving brother Jimmie, suffers
from flashbacks which she cannot easily overcome the tragic memories. However, throughout the
book, Annie starts to overcome the bad memories by the interaction with Helen. In act 1, the external
conflict between Helen and Annie is significantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Annie! Annie, don t let them take me Annie!...But this voice is real, in the present, and Annie comes
up out of her horror, clearing her head with a final shake (22). This depicts Annie s painful memories
about her dead brother Jimmie on the past. It is inferable that Jimmie was taken from some stranger
and this was a very horrible event for Annie since the bad memory even comes out in her dream.
Addition to that it is also inferable that Annie regrets herself for not saving her brother no matter how
bad her condition was also. The memory of the tragic past remains to be her inner conflict. I crawled
in her like a drowned rat, I thought I died when Jimmie died, that I d Never again come alive. (20).
This quote is another example of Annie s tragic memory of the moment when Jimmie died but she got
to continue with her living. For Annie, this memory of her loving brother dead will be never be
forgotten in her life. This inner conflict which Annie will carry through her whole life leads her to be
more perseverance and caring characteristics when educating Helen to communicate. In act 2, Annie
continues with her inner conflict of flashback of her brother Jimmie, but she now gets stronger to
overcome the past experience. You said we ll be together, forever and ever and ever...Goodbye
Annie...Annie. It hurts, to be dead. Forever. (68 69). This creates an inner

Turner Assembly Group Case
At first sight, the Turner Assembly Group seems to be a well designed network and system with good
security. This company assembles electronic circuit boards and the diagrams and assembly
instructions are sent from customers via a VPN connection (Davis, Schiller Wheeler, 2011).
Customers are given one time usernames and passwords for each job and they expire at completion of
the work (Davis, Schiller Wheeler, 2011). The Turner Assembly Group requires a database audit, due
to their use on one of their application servers using Microsoft SQL Server and the Access databases
used in the organization (HR employee database, contracts database, and inventory database) that are
housed on their NAS Network attached storage (Davis, Schiller ... Show more content on

However, there are issues noted that might well be indicators of quite severe security problems and
should be items with high visibility during any audit. First off, the two computers in the break area
Kiosk for employee Internet access bring up the possibility of shared accounts. The prohibition of
sharing passwords is a basic and standard internal control around the globe (Bunn, n.d.). The principal
purpose is to safeguard other employees from inappropriate suspicion in the event that an account is
used for inappropriate purposes (Bunn, n.d.). Next, having wireless Access Points on ALL their
networks is a very troubling and even more troubling due to their legal requirement to ensure HIPAA
compliance of the personal health records of their employees. HIPPA compliant systems are required
to have vigorous tracking and reporting of all inconsistencies, errors, and breaches as they occur. The
regulations require swift notification if a patient s information is compromised (Ciarlone, 2014). Also,
the DMZ and internal LAN use Windows Server 2008 and is END OF LIFE for most versions as of
4/9/2013 (Microsoft Support Lifecycle, n.d.). Without a Microsoft direct support contract, you will no
longer receive security updates that can help protect servers from harmful viruses, spyware, and other
malicious software that can steal information (Microsoft Support Lifecycle, n.d.). The very fact that

Chinese Cultural Issues
Cultural Issues/Differences China has a very old and complex culture. Traditions vary between towns,
cities and country areas.
Chinese culture developed in isolation from the world which means it is very different, and
interesting. The Chinese are not very religious, and have blended different religions over time. In
business, the Chinese value relationships. In architecture, symmetry and width are strong eg
Forbidden city. Chinese food is very important, and local recipes are now found all over the world.
Cultural activities, like the Temple Fair and the Lantern Festival (Chinese New Year) are special times
for locals.
Customs Tipping is NOT part of the Chinese culture, haggling is normal. Beijing though which has
many tourists and has become somewhat used to tipping. Greeting each other in China is by bowing or
nodding. When addressing people use their title and surname. Acknowledge the oldest person first. In
China you should avoid physical contact, and especially avoid touching a woman in public. Public
displays of affection are frowned on. Dress in most settings in China people are expected to dress
modestly, not showing too much bare skin. Public toilets often just a hole in the floor = No privacy!.
There is usually a fee to pay, and you will need your own toilet paper. McDonalds does have western
style toilets.
Social Issues Like any country, there are social issues and problems faced by people. Some of the

N The History Of The United States, The Anti-Federalists
n the history of the United States, the Anti federalists were the individuals who opposed the
implementation of a central federal government which would seek to oversee different operations in
the country along with the ratification of the constitution. Instead, they advocated that power ought to
remain within the hands of the local and state governments. Conversely, the Federalists advocated for
a stronger government that would oversee the operations of all states. They also wanted the ratification
of the existing constitution in order to help the government in managing its debts along with the
tensions that were developing in particular states. The Federalist movement was formed by Alexander
Hamilton, and it functioned as the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also provided a stronger image of America in relation to other countries in the world. The proposed
constitution also proposed the establishment of a united army, which would function to protect
America from external attacks (Schultz 126). The Anti Federalists strongly opposed the
implementation of the constitution as it relinquished some of their powers, and made them answerable
to the federal government. However, they later on supported its ratification after the Bill of Rights was
included (Schultz 126). The Bill of Rights was of great importance to them as it guaranteed that their
liberties and freedoms were still preserved despite the constitutional change. Another difference
relates to the economic differences between the supporters of both sides. The Federalists were
supported by big business interests that operated within and out of the American borders. They
considered the implementation of the constitution as a suitable step towards the government being
able to regulate the country s economy. As a result, they would be able to benefit significantly. On the
other hand, the Anti Federalist union was chiefly dominated by small rural communities and farmers,
who believed that the local government had more to offer with regards to their profits and the
establishment of a market for their goods (Schultz 127). To these farmers, the state government was

Hopi Butterfly Dance Research Paper
Taylor Burt MUNM 3213 006 Dr. Jennifer Peck 6 November 2014 The Hopi Butterfly Dance The
Hopi tribe is found in the Southwest region of the United States in Arizona, where they trace their
ancestry back 2,000 years; however, tribal legends suggest that the Hopi tribe migrated to Arizona
from the south, which is present day South America, Central America, and Mexico. The Hopi is
considered one of the oldest living cultures by historical documentation (Hopi Tribe). The Hopi
Butterfly Dance, or Bulitikibi as the Hopi call it, is a two day ceremony usually performed in the late
summer that falls into the social dance category. The dance is a celebration of the end of the harvest
season and thankfulness for a good crop. The Butterfly Dance is sponsored by a family and held
specifically for the young people of the tribe (Lomahaftewa). Important aspects of the dance include
the public performance, with no sacred altars or secret rites associated, and the fact that the dance is
social in nature and open to spectators (Fewkers). When a family decides that they would like to
sponsor a Butterfly Dance, ceremonial preparations begin in order to arrange for the dance to take
place. The village crier announces that a Butterfly Dance will take place in the coming weeks, and the

anthropologists believe the butterfly previously played an even larger role in the culture than it does
among the present day tribe (Fewkes). It is said that the Butterfly Dance was introduced to the Hopi

Disney s Television History
In 1948, box office revenues dropped 43 percent from their all time high in 1946. Similarly, in 1947
90 million people would visit the theater weekly but it dropped to 40 million a week in 1957. These
changes were due to the invention of the television. By 1960, there were over 60 million TV sets in
homes across the United States. Disney was the first to make a deal with the American Broadcast
Company to air their TV shows weekly. By 19556, studio movies found their way onto TV screens
across America. But the studios had to find a way to make people go to the theater again. The first idea
was to make the screens bigger and the sound better. Studios would increase their width to height ratio

Since box office numbers were so low, studios would start to defy the PCA s production codes and
release uncensored movies. In 1956, due to a large measure of success in a few mature movies, the
MPAA president Eric Johnston changed the code for the first time in twenty years. This change was
minor and only allowed the limited use of the words hell and damn. When the PCA started to lose
control over the film industries productions the MPAA hired Valenti to fix the box office problems and
modernize the PCA. In 1966, six films were released with the new MPAA code that stated that the
films were for Mature Audiences. The MGM submitted Blow up to the PCA and was declined a seal.
MGM then released the movie through Premier Films, which was a subsidiary of MGM. The movie
was a success and the MPAA president Valenti changed the code to a new age based rating system.
The invention of the TV and its widely known success lead to many changes to the film industry. It led
to the creation of Disneyland, movies on televisions, a few changes in the PCA s production codes,
and different movie genres. Box office numbers would rise with the gambles that the studios took to
create mature

Florida State University SWOT Analysis
Assessing Culture Higher education institutions must continually change to adapt to environmental
trends, and the SWOT analysis can help administrators to plan and act quickly to stop potential
problems (Pucciarelli Kaplan, 2016). The SWOT analysis is based on strengths, weakness,
opportunities, and threats of the internal and external environment (Addams Allred, 2013). By
conducting a SWOT analysis, the institution can design strategies and policies for the institution
(Verboncu Condurache, 2016). SWOT analysis provides information that is effective and efficient at
the time for the institution and identifies areas for improvement (Verboncu Condurache, 2016). This

There have been complaints about how long it takes the financial aid department to process the
paperwork and about questions not being answered. Several dormitories need to be upgraded. General
advising is unproductive. Faculty are used to advise students, and some faculty have been
misinforming students. More advisors are needed to advise the students. There is not enough parking
on campus. There is no room for the university to expand on campus.
Opportunities
Since more people are looking for a mid career change and life long learning, there is growth potential
in this area. Online education is becoming more popular and meets the needs of individuals, so there is
growth potential in this area. The entrepreneurship school is expanding its courses to all programs in
the university. Partnerships with businesses will increase and provide students with more internship
opportunities. Individuals in different fields will be mentors to students. The University could increase
enrollment numbers by accepting more out of state students.

The Nazi Party Of Germany
The Nazi Party of Germany aimed to create a racially pure society between the years 1933 through to
1945. This society, or Volksgemeinschaft, was to contain Hitler s ideological view on what a pure
person, or Aryan should be. It also involved the exclusion of anyone who did not fit this mould. The
Nazi party was extremely successful in achieving their highly aimed goal. Through the Nazi s control
over youth groups and in children s education, the Nazi Party and Hitler were able to reach this goal in
the years 1933 to 1939, and this continued through World War Two till the end of 1945. The Nazi
Party convinced children about their ideologies and by doing so paved a path for the new generation to
be followers of the Third Reich. Not everyone supported the Nazi regime, but overall it was accepted
by society, and the youth groups helped the Nazi party form their ideal society leading up to and
during the war. When Hitler became Chancellor and passed the Enabling Act in 1933, it allowed the
Nazi Party to have control over Germany. The controlling of the education system allowed the Nazi s
to implement their beliefs and ideas in subjects. The Hitler Youth organisations were a way for the
Nazi party to groom future supporters and members of the Nazi party. This included future SS
members and the future perfect Aryan Nazi family. The policies they implemented in the schools and
youth groups were what ultimately helped the Nazi party be successful in forming their idealistic

Anti Catholic Beliefs In America
From being the main religion of the entire Roman Empire to its followers being exiled in the early
Puritan settlements, Catholicism and those who follow it are considered a minority in the American
society. The Puritan religion was the first religious group in the colonies to be actively anti Catholic.
America gained religious tolerance after the American Revolution, but state laws varied on the
practice of religion. The Puritan belief system stayed prevalent throughout the centuries, influencing
anti Catholic groups. Anti Catholic sentiment arises in pop culture because of the misinterpretation in
the Church s doctrine in that it never changes while our society does.

Despite the age of these systems, the Catholic Church continues to operate close to them, similar to
when they were adopted. The misunderstanding and prejudice towards these systems cause many
people to adopt anti Catholic beliefs for contemporary issues in America. The democratic political
system in America clashes with the hierarchical lineage that the Catholic Church possesses. The
problem arises when anti Catholics claim that Catholics are un American because they follow a
hierarchy, rather than the American system of democracy. The democratic system allows the people to
vote for their leader to govern them, however, the Catholic leader, the Pope, is not chosen by the
people of the Catholic Church. Un American criticism continues with the debates and movements on
Sexism and Feminism. As women s roles are changed, the Catholic Church is keeping true to its
origins by keeping the governing body, the priesthood, bishops, Cardinals, and the Pope, a completely
male role. The Church is criticized by many as being sexist and by that, un American, for not allowing
ordination for women. Many Americans / view the church s ban on women s ordination largely in
terms of democratic principles, or rights and representation (Martin). Anti Catholics throw up these
accusations of sexism without contemplating the true role of women in the Catholic Church. Pope
Francis said in an interview Look, in the Church women are more important than men, because the
church is a woman / The Church is the bride of Jesus Christ. And the Madonna is more important that
popes and bishops and priests (Ruiz). This governing structure, as well as other beliefs of the Catholic
Church, seem confusing or silly to post enlightenment ideas. As human philosophy has developed
after the Enlightenment, the Church has kept the doctrine the same. This has not caused the anti
Catholic community to criticize

Emergent literacy represents a shift in thinking about young children s reading. It stresses the
relationship between the preschool and beginning reading phases, among concerns and issues of early
childhood educators and those of reading teachers, and between the home and school environment
(Teale, 1995). Marie Clay (1977) first used the term emergent literacy. In the mid 1980s emergent
literacy theory gained importance as a way to explain the beginning of children s reading skills.
Emergent literacy replaced the term reading readiness through the 1980s 1990s. Emergent literacy is
based upon the notion that children learn literacy skills through print. Teale and Sulzby (1991)
proposed that emergent literacy be recognized as a new model for conceptualizing young children s
written language development. Teale and Sulzby defined emergent literacy as the reading and writing
concepts, behaviors, and dispositions that precede and develop into conventional literacy (Teale, 1995,
p.107).
By the mid 1980s emergent reading/literacy became accepted among researchers, early educators, and
reading teachers. Emergent literacy appeared as an ERIC descriptor and was recognized as a
justifiable area of work in the conventions of the National Association for the Education of the Young
Children, the National Reading Conference, the International Reading

Attend Spelman College As One Of Many Decisions
Choosing to attend Spelman College as one of many decisions I have to make as a student was an easy
task. Ever since I can remember, one of my biggest aspirations was to be accepted to and attend
Spelman College. Through the years, Spelman women in my life have demonstrated their commitment
to uplifting children, families and the community. Considering that Spelman is a liberal arts college
that provides an intimate and nurturing environment, I have no doubt that it will provide the tools I
need to be successful. Because I have identified several tools given to me and that I am aware of my
purpose, I can now set goals. My most immediate short term goals as a college student include:
becoming proficient at balancing my time well, soaking up the information that I am being taught,
making great grades, serving my community, traveling and studying abroad, and attaining internships
and scholarships. Currently I am enrolled in 8 classes, and/or pursuing 19 hours of credit as a first year
semester student. I also am apart of two extracurricular activities on campus. I often times find myself
frustrated that I did not interpret the wise words of Dr. Burnett, The choices that you make course by
course, semester by semester determine what your final outcome will be. as words of urgency and
direction. I am not sure why I felt that I needed to be superwoman and put all of those things on my
plate. However as a result of my aspirations for the superwoman complex, I have

Australia Trade and Immigration Background As Joycelyn has mentioned Australia s having greater

Australian workers out of job. For decades, high prohibitive tariffs blocked the imports of Asian

Construction Of The Natural Environment
. INTRODUCTION: Nigeria like other developing countries is undergoing rapid growth accompanied
by rapid development pressure with high demand for Housing and Infrastructure as a result of
population growth. In 2000 the United Nation food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) found that the
role of population dynamics in local setting may vary from decisive to negligible and that
deforestation can result from a combination of population pressure and stagnation of economy, social
and technological condition . The present administration of Niger State Government embarked on
mass constructions projects in order to reduce the alarming demands of housing. This leads to the
obliteration of the natural environment Forests are being destroyed for several reasons, among which
are the continued urbanization of the world and thus the need for construction of roads and buildings.
The need for fuel and timber for construction is another major factor leading to deforestation (Domries
and Salati, 1991). However, over half of the worlds tropical rainforest have already been destroyed,
and they are continuing to be destroyed today (Dowroes 1991). Moreover, the nature of construction
in Nigeria has visibly affected the environment. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in Nigeria is

William Walton s Influence On The Music Of A Musical...
William Walton (March 29, 1902 March 8, 1983) never had any students, and due to his highly
perfectionist and obsessive nature, he left behind a relatively small body of work. Furthermore, his
composition style changed very little over the course of his career, remaining, at times, rhythmically
quirky, but for the most part, lyrically Romantic a style that was considered very old fashioned in a
musical scene dominated by the more avant garde Benjamin Britten. Particularly after World War II,
twentieth century audiences weren t interested in the music of the past of an age that hadn t yet
experienced the depth of devastation and loss that they had.
In spite of his lack of widespread popularity, Walton was not unsuccessful, as a number of his works
have entered the canon of commonly performed classical music. For example, his Viola Concerto,
written in 1929, in spite of being rejected by its intended recipient, was taken under the wing of and
premiered by composer and violist Paul Hindemith to rousing and lasting success. That piece, in
Walton s preferred Romantic style, harkens back to influences of Edward Elgar (1857 1934),
particularly his Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (1919). Today, the Walton Viola Concerto is a
staple, if not THE staple, of the viola repertoire.
Additionally, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, Walton was commissioned to write the
coronation march, Orb and Sceptre, and a choral setting of Te Deum for the event. The Te Deum

launching a new product, i.e. a strong Christmas gift range, and improving customer services,
operating profits from the division boosted to 17% to ₤11.7 million (Geary, 2005). This is a recent
event in the innovation strategies of Body Shop. Schumpeter (1939), as cited in Mintrom, Schneider
and Teske (1995), asserts that an entrepreneur functions to innovate, which means devising new
production function out of the existing factors of production. In simpler terms, an entrepreneur is one
who introduces a new product or a product that deviates from the ordinary. Such is the basic idea or
definition of an entrepreneur from which its modern definitions have developed. Apart from the
above, there is something about the packaging of the Body Shop products. Roddick started with small
bottles since that was what she was complaining on. According to Kassaye and

Victory Of Judith
The victory of Judith tells the story of the defeat of Holofernes by Judith. It takes place in the small
Jewish town of Bethulia, which had been surrounded by the Assyrians. Taking into consideration the
fact that the Israelites were outnumbered and running out of water, Uzziah, the village chief, made the
decision to surrender in 5 days time. Judith, a very beautiful widow, said that God was going to save
them by her hand. She dressed herself with her best gowns and jewelry, bathed in perfume, and set out
to where Holofernes was stationed. As she reached the his soldiers, she was questioned as to why she
had come, her reply was I am fleeing from them as they will soon be your prey. I am on my way to see
Holofernes to give him trustworthy information. As she was shown the Commander s tent, Holofernes
was captured by her beauty. On the fourth day, a feast was prepared, with Judith as the main ... Show

However, Judith exhibits a remarkable contradiction. In a battle between good and evil, between a
woman and a man, it is expected for the men to be the hero. However, the ending to his story proves
the woman to be the savior. Unlike many other battles, no war, nor training was needed to win. Judith
used seduction and femininity as a strategy to wile her enemy. Although, when she got back to
Bethulia, she affirmed My face seduced him, only to his own undoing; he committed no sin with me
to shame or disgrace me. It is certain that this women can be seen as a devious seductress. Judith
purposely garnished herself to be irresistible, as a way to tempt Holofernes, as she knew his desires.
Previous to the banquet Holofernes said to his soldiers in a conversation We shall be disgraced if we
let a woman like his go without seducing her. Surely enough, this behavior way irregular for a woman,
whom was expected to be pure and solely devoted to God and her

Essay A Historical Biography of Alexander the Great
A Historical Biography of Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great lived before Christ, but he was driven by a vision of global unity as modern as
today. Alexander is seen in many roles in our culture. The most famous of these is being a great
general and conqueror of the world. During his short life, Alexander conquered the known world and
helped spread the culture of the Greeks. Much of what he accomplished must be viewed in the
circumstances of his time and his upbringing. Without these we may not have had the spread of Greek
culture or even heard of the man called Alexander. I will discuss how Alexander was able to
accomplish all of this in such a short time and the events and strategies that helped him along the way.

This was making of one of the finest military machines ever seen to that day and even later. The
system that Philip used in ruling the Greek states helped unify them, and eliminate the notion of being
a conquered people. He granted freedom and autonomy to all parties in each state; but, at the same
time, established bureaucracies that were stable and loyal to him. This idea of not destroying the
conquered people but placing them in charge, is seen consistently later on in Alexander s Empire.
After this was done, he declared war on Persia with the support of a unified Greece. After all this,
before he could start his march on Persia, he was assassinated. Philip by conquest and the organization
of rule, helped Alexander inherit a united Greece and Macedonia. This enabled him to be able to
conquer other lands and not waste time and effort fighting Greek states. His father, through reform,
also developed the finest army of the age. These inheritances paved the way for Alexander s success.
Alexander s family life was, at the least, dysfunctional.
His father, Philip and his mother, Olympias were not a happy couple. When Philip left Olympias to
marry Cleopatra, the family was split and embittered. Some think that Olympia even had a role in
Philip s murder. Alexander clearly owed some of his characteristics to both his parents. Like his father,
he was a shrewd and practical politician. But, he also was attached to believing in oracles, cults, and
omens, which

State Mass Killings in Indonesia 1965 to 1966 Essay
State Mass Killings in Indonesia 1965 to 1966 In order to develop a general framework with which to
understand collective political violence, I examine state mass killings in Indonesia 1965 66. While
acknowledging the importance of historical/cultural factors, I identify elements within the
sociopolitical sphere that influence actors of collective political violence at national, local, and event
specific levels. Elements discussed are elite interests, justification for violence, formal organizations,
and mobilization factors. Finally, I suggest future preventative policy measures. Introduction Violence

tool used by various actors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this framework, I determine the relative importance of historical/cultural factors, elite interests,
justifications for violence, organization and individual perceptions. Finally, I present questions for
future research and preventative policy options. Common explanations of political violence in
Indonesia focus on local culture, the legacies of colonialism, and the social conflicts through which
violence manifests. Often, observers describe such events as spontaneous and uncontrollable. One
obtains the impression that riots are explosions of latent tensions and mass killings, unstoppable
runaway trains. However such explanations are at best incomplete and significantly obscure important
variables. Mass collective violence is rarely spontaneous. Elite interests, formal organizations and
actors at various levels interact to create violent 1 outcomes. I consider such interactions surrounding
the state mass killings in Indonesia 1965 66. The Frames of Violent Forms Defined generally as the
use of physical force or coercion, used with the intention of bringing harm to others (and their material
goods), which is linked to a struggle for power , political violence make take on numerous forms.
Such forms are characterized by varying elements of intensity, destructiveness, and duration. It is not

Aristotle Virtuous
According to Aristotle virtue is achieving excellence of the soul. (1) For man to become virtuous they
must build habits that model virtuous behavior. Aristotle believed that moral virtue forms through
habit and no one is born virtuous. Under this premise virtue is both learned and practiced through our
behaviors. When one acts in a moral and virtuous way they become more virtuous, the opposite is true
also that if one acts in a non virtuous way they will learn to become less virtuous. To be virtuous you
also must maintain a balance which is called the mean. Aristotle further states that you cannot merely
define virtue in terms of characteristics, you must also specify the kind of characteristic, and that this
virtue renders good the thing itself of which it is the excellence, and performs its function well at the
same time.(2) To live in the mean is to be virtuous. The mean is making choices that are the right
amount of virtue, or the correct balance of choices. To act either in excess or a lack of virtue is a vice.
It is the ability of choosing to act in the mean or middle that is considered virtuous. This can easily
been in examples, if a wealthy man had the resources to help others and give some of his money he
could be a virtuous man if he did so while acting in the mean. If the same man did not give to charities

When one find themselves in a situation of loss or heavy sadness it could move into despair. It is
normal to feel some despair with loss, so the mean would be so grieve then return to a more normal
state of feeling in a reasonable time. This would make this vice actually virtuous. The opposite would
cause it to continue as a vice. If someone fell into despair and never recovered from it and let it
consume their life this would be a vice. Another vice of despair would be if someone had a despairing
situation and did not react to it at all, or shunned the loss all together this would also be a

Speed Painting Essay
Keywords: speed painting, how to speedpaint, speed drawing, speed paint
SPEED PAINTING
What is speed painting?
Speed painting is art that is carried out in a set period of time, where the clock determines how much
time an artist has. This can be anything from minutes to a couple of hours. After the time is up, an
artist can no longer make any additional changes to the work. Speed painting can be helpful for
beginner artists to learn painting techniques, and for experienced artists to practice their skills without
over thinking their work.
Speed painting is often carried out by digital artists, who learn to work quickly and efficiently, but do
not require the drying time that is required by wet painters. Artists in the film industry, who create
storyboards and often rely on creating multiple concepts rather than a single polished idea, often use

They are often forgotten by artists, but are fun to use, easy to create, and are a great option to think of
when designing or speed drawing. On days when your work takes on an abstract element, you can
play with custom shapes, using a brush for layering, copying, repeating and transforming them into
art.
Focus on colour and texture
Experiment by filling a canvas with colour, and adding texture. Instead of trying to paint something
specific, use a large brush to simply apply colour to the canvas. This playful and experimental
technique will help you to see what emerges, without going into a detailed painting. Keeping brushes
large means you won t be able to go into too much detail. You can have fun with texture or
transparency, allowing a new vision to emerge.

The Marriage Process in Turkish Culture
The Marriage Process In Turkish Culture
The United States is a country, founded on freedom, immersed with immigrants hoping to secure their
independence and reconstruct their lives. The United States, unlike many other countries, is made up
entirely of different cultures and ethnic groups. This country is home to many middle eastern citizens,
with a great majority of Turkish Americans. According to the Embassy of the United States, there are
currently 500,000 Americans with Turkic descent (TMPFA). The existence of Turkish families in the
country is a positive one as their talent, creativity and hard work strengthens our nation. The struggle
of these people to adjust to American society can be demanding, but many Turkish people choose to
carry on their family traditions. The aim of this paper is to analyze the partner selection, engagement
process and wedding ceremonies of Turkish couples within the United States.
The partner selection in Turkish culture customarily requires acceptance by both families, along with
incorporation of traditional gender roles and courtship. Family acceptance of the unmarried couples is
of high importance to Turkish culture. It is expected that a prospective single marry within their social
class and religion. Marriage within the same social class is necessary because of the separation seen in
Turkey. Turkey is very unlike the United States in the sense that there is a very large social gap
between the rich and poor, with a very small middle

The Importance Of The Necessary And Proper Clause
The Necessary and Proper Clause is part of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. Americans love
the Constitution but little do they actually know about its powers. Powers, established in statements,
which come along with bills from the House of Representatives, are tried by the Necessary and Proper
Clause and determined Constitutional or unconstitutional.
The Necessary and Proper Clause and its role in modern federal law, along with the questions that
come from applying the clause.
The Constitutional is centered around power and where that power comes from. The enumerated
powers established in Article 1, Section 8 have also given Congress the power to carry out laws in
order to follow previously established powers. Governments stretch and bend problems in such a way
that they will fit under the enumerated powers of the Constitution. All the enumerated powers have a
list of adjunct statute not stated in the strict interpretation of the power. The Necessary and Proper
Clause authorizes Congress to pass laws and the adoption of theses laws prompt questions. Examples
of questions would be: How strong must the means end connection between the primary policy and
the secondary rule be? or What are the side effects of this law and how does it impact society? Laws
passed under the clause are placed under judicial review which determines if it applies under the
Constitution.
The main points made in the book The Origins of the Necessary and Proper Clause by Gary Lawson,

Make in India: the road ahead for India s Development Saga or is it just another rhetoric?
Abstract:
Make in India campaign is an initiative that attracts the industrialists to make India a manufacturing
hub that helps to create jobs. India ranks 142nd in the ease of doing business and it is becoming
increasingly difficult for both Indian and foreign businessmen to start a business in India. The
infrastructure in India is not good enough to attract investors. There is a lack of proper connectivity
between the cities in India. The other bottleneck are taxation, Government policies, labor laws, ease of
obtaining licenses and land acquisition. India must also compete with its neighbor China as both the
nations are seen as growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, India has always been an agricultural nation. The major share of GDP is from this sector
till the early 1950s and 60s. Down the line, its share began to decline and service sector started to
emerge. Today service sector players a prominent role in the economy of India. On the other hand,
Industrial sector has been growing right from the beginning but the growth is minimal when compared
to service sector. The Following graph depicts the percentage share of Individual Sectors in the
country. Figure 1: Shares of Agriculture, Industry and Services in India
As observed clearly from the above graph, the growth of Indian Manufacturing Sector has been
minimal. This can be attributed to the myriad factors that hinder the Indian Industrial sector. On a
closer introspection, there are major reasons in the country which holds back the Indian Economy.
Firstly, India lacks the optimum prerequisite for the growth of Industrial Sector i.e Infrastructure. India
is lagging in terms of infrastructure and more private players and public private partnership should be
encouraged to bring about the change. One such example is Jamshedpur built by TATA. It shows that
the problems are able to overcome with proper policy changes.
Secondly, power poses the next hindrance for the Industrial Sector. The issues related to power should
be resolved as early as possible in the near future. Lack of power is a big hurdle to the running of
industries. Many

Afghanistan Argumentative Essay
The United States didn t think there was anything imperative about Afghanistan as a country, but their
location was perfect and had great surrounding areas. Afghanistan was a significant setting simply
because of the ports and sea lines that were along the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf but other than
that there wasn t much importance. The United States still ended up playing a role in the Afghan
Soviet war. They ended up being an aid for the rebels of Afghanistan. This specific group of people,
also known as the Mujahideen, were mountain tribesmen that were led by their Islamic leaders. At the
current time, the United States initial strategy was to prevent excessive Soviet influence (Galster). The

Political Parties And The Democratic Party Essay
Introduction:
Originally political parties were seen as skeptical by our Founding Fathers and therefore opposed.
However, today our government has political parties. Political parties attempt to gain control of the
government and influence its decisions. The two most influential parties in American government are
the Republican and Democratic Party. These two parties have very contrasting beliefs which they
present in their platforms. Democrats believe in the need for intervention by government in the form
of more and bigger programs and agree that there must be fairness in government regulations and
freedom of expression. Republicans however, have more conservative values and cultivate the
importance of family and the efforts made by individuals. They, unlike the Democratic Party, prefer to
keep the power out of the hands of the government. Political parties business and actions affect every
American. Especially when the political party is governing and practicing its beliefs. The structure of
marriage, education, taxes, and defense spending are all topics that influence the daily lives of
American individuals. That is why is it is important to know where each political party stands.
Marriage and Family:
Republicans describe marriage as the union of one man and one woman and their regulations revolve
around these ideals. They state that children s emotional and physical health is stronger when they are
raised in a household with two parents. To Republicans, natural

John Dos Passos Essay
John Dos Passos
Almost every one writer can say that they are influenced by their childhood and past. Memories flood
back to them as they encounter a similar experience or similar situation in their earlier years. No doubt
a significant factor in their writing, the past from a specific writer s life usually adds more depth and
complexity to their works. Because these previous experiences are from the author s actual life, the
scenes and subjects related to the theme are more accurate and realistic, and may even be more
appealing to read. These past voices may appear either consciously through the author s works, or
sometimes unconsciously, guided maybe by some early childhood memory. Well, whatever the case,

childhood in Tidewater Virginia. He began attending Choate School where his first published writings
were articles for the Choate School News. Upon completing Choate School at the age of fifteen, he
entered Harvard University in 1912. At Harvard, he continued his journalism by joining the Harvard

this time at Harvard, the spirit of idealism swept the country. Dos Passos was stirred by ideas of

vague idealism. He later graduated in June of 1916.
Out of college now, Dos Passos choose to volunteer for ambulance duty overseas but his father

fascination for him all his life, to study architecture. With the death of his father lather in

During his tour of duty as an ambulance driver, he collaborated with a friend, Robert Hillyer, on

Themes In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech
Do you know what it s like to feel abandoned? In the book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech there
are a lot of themes like independency, family and many others. The ones that I like the most that I feel
are the best and most represented are, motherhood and abandonment. I feel like in the book Sal is the
most affected by these themes. On the start of the book Sal and her father moved to Euclid, Ohio after
her mother s death. After that event Sal went through a lot of mixed feelings, she was feeling envious
and guilty because she thought her mother wasn t happy with her so she was envy that she wanted
another child, and when her mother lost the baby she felt guilty thinking it was her fault. She was also
angry at her father because she thought he was the one who drove her mother away. And she was also
feeling like she was abandoned because her mother left , and when the accident happened she felt sad
because she never said goodbye to her mother and there was also a lot more of change, changes she
never wanted to happen. Before Sal s mother left her she had a lot of mixed feelings, but after she did
she felt even more feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

but inside she was really sad and abandoned. That is why most of the book is Sal and her grandparents

that Sal could have the closure she needed, to move on. She was also feeling like there was way too

The Term s Use Of Obscene In The English-Speaking World
The word s use is considered obscene in social contexts, but is common in some informal and familiar

came to be used to describe (often in an extremely angry, hostile or belligerent manner) unpleasant
circumstances or people in an intentionally offensive way, such as in the term motherfucker, one of its
more common usages in some parts of the English speaking world. In the modern English speaking
world, the word fuck is often considered highly offensive. Most English speaking countries censor it

  • 2. William Gibson s The Miracle Worker In the book The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, Gibson utilizes diverse dramatic technique, props and finger spelling in order to represent the internal and external conflicts between Helen Keller, and Annie Sullivan throughout the play. Annie, the miracle worker who used to be blind has an external conflict with Helen, who is blind, deaf, and partly mute. However, throughout the act, the relationship starts to build and develops to a happy ending. Annie, who lost her loving brother Jimmie, suffers from flashbacks which she cannot easily overcome the tragic memories. However, throughout the book, Annie starts to overcome the bad memories by the interaction with Helen. In act 1, the external conflict between Helen and Annie is significantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Annie! Annie, don t let them take me Annie!...But this voice is real, in the present, and Annie comes up out of her horror, clearing her head with a final shake (22). This depicts Annie s painful memories about her dead brother Jimmie on the past. It is inferable that Jimmie was taken from some stranger and this was a very horrible event for Annie since the bad memory even comes out in her dream. Addition to that it is also inferable that Annie regrets herself for not saving her brother no matter how bad her condition was also. The memory of the tragic past remains to be her inner conflict. I crawled in her like a drowned rat, I thought I died when Jimmie died, that I d Never again come alive. (20). This quote is another example of Annie s tragic memory of the moment when Jimmie died but she got to continue with her living. For Annie, this memory of her loving brother dead will be never be forgotten in her life. This inner conflict which Annie will carry through her whole life leads her to be more perseverance and caring characteristics when educating Helen to communicate. In act 2, Annie continues with her inner conflict of flashback of her brother Jimmie, but she now gets stronger to overcome the past experience. You said we ll be together, forever and ever and ever...Goodbye Annie...Annie. It hurts, to be dead. Forever. (68 69). This creates an inner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This company assembles electronic circuit boards and the diagrams and assembly instructions are sent from customers via a VPN connection (Davis, Schiller Wheeler, 2011). Customers are given one time usernames and passwords for each job and they expire at completion of the work (Davis, Schiller Wheeler, 2011). The Turner Assembly Group requires a database audit, due to their use on one of their application servers using Microsoft SQL Server and the Access databases used in the organization (HR employee database, contracts database, and inventory database) that are housed on their NAS Network attached storage (Davis, Schiller ... First off, the two computers in the break area Kiosk for employee Internet access bring up the possibility of shared accounts. The prohibition of sharing passwords is a basic and standard internal control around the globe (Bunn, n.d.). The principal purpose is to safeguard other employees from inappropriate suspicion in the event that an account is used for inappropriate purposes (Bunn, n.d.). Next, having wireless Access Points on ALL their networks is a very troubling and even more troubling due to their legal requirement to ensure HIPAA compliance of the personal health records of their employees. HIPPA compliant systems are required to have vigorous tracking and reporting of all inconsistencies, errors, and breaches as they occur. The regulations require swift notification if a patient s information is compromised (Ciarlone, 2014). Also, the DMZ and internal LAN use Windows Server 2008 and is END OF LIFE for most versions as of 4/9/2013 (Microsoft Support Lifecycle, n.d.). Without a Microsoft direct support contract, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect servers from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal information (Microsoft Support Lifecycle, n.d.). N The History Of The United States, The Anti-Federalists n the history of the United States, the Anti federalists were the individuals who opposed the implementation of a central federal government which would seek to oversee different operations in the country along with the ratification of the constitution. Instead, they advocated that power ought to remain within the hands of the local and state governments. Conversely, the Federalists advocated for a stronger government that would oversee the operations of all states. It also provided a stronger image of America in relation to other countries in the world. The proposed constitution also proposed the establishment of a united army, which would function to protect America from external attacks (Schultz 126). The Anti Federalists strongly opposed the implementation of the constitution as it relinquished some of their powers, and made them answerable to the federal government. However, they later on supported its ratification after the Bill of Rights was included (Schultz 126). The Bill of Rights was of great importance to them as it guaranteed that their liberties and freedoms were still preserved despite the constitutional change. Another difference relates to the economic differences between the supporters of both sides. The Federalists were supported by big business interests that operated within and out of the American borders. They considered the implementation of the constitution as a suitable step towards the government being able to regulate the country s economy. As a result, they would be able to benefit significantly. On the other hand, the Anti Federalist union was chiefly dominated by small rural communities and farmers, who believed that the local government had more to offer with regards to their profits and the establishment of a market for their goods (Schultz 127). Hopi Butterfly Dance Research Paper Taylor Burt MUNM 3213 006 Dr. Jennifer Peck 6 November 2014 The Hopi Butterfly Dance The Hopi tribe is found in the Southwest region of the United States in Arizona, where they trace their ancestry back 2,000 years; however, tribal legends suggest that the Hopi tribe migrated to Arizona from the south, which is present day South America, Central America, and Mexico. The Hopi is considered one of the oldest living cultures by historical documentation (Hopi Tribe). The Hopi Butterfly Dance, or Bulitikibi as the Hopi call it, is a two day ceremony usually performed in the late summer that falls into the social dance category. The dance is a celebration of the end of the harvest season and thankfulness for a good crop. The Butterfly Dance is sponsored by a family and held specifically for the young people of the tribe (Lomahaftewa). Important aspects of the dance include the public performance, with no sacred altars or secret rites associated, and the fact that the dance is social in nature and open to spectators (Fewkers). • 7. Disney s Television History In 1948, box office revenues dropped 43 percent from their all time high in 1946. Similarly, in 1947 90 million people would visit the theater weekly but it dropped to 40 million a week in 1957. These changes were due to the invention of the television. By 1960, there were over 60 million TV sets in homes across the United States. Disney was the first to make a deal with the American Broadcast Company to air their TV shows weekly. By 19556, studio movies found their way onto TV screens across America. But the studios had to find a way to make people go to the theater again. The first idea was to make the screens bigger and the sound better. Studios would increase their width to height ratio from 1.33:1 to 1.85:1 for flat prints and ... In 1956, due to a large measure of success in a few mature movies, the MPAA president Eric Johnston changed the code for the first time in twenty years. This change was minor and only allowed the limited use of the words hell and damn. When the PCA started to lose control over the film industries productions the MPAA hired Valenti to fix the box office problems and modernize the PCA. In 1966, six films were released with the new MPAA code that stated that the films were for Mature Audiences. The MGM submitted Blow up to the PCA and was declined a seal. MGM then released the movie through Premier Films, which was a subsidiary of MGM. The movie was a success and the MPAA president Valenti changed the code to a new age based rating system. The invention of the TV and its widely known success lead to many changes to the film industry. • 9. The Nazi Party Of Germany The Nazi Party of Germany aimed to create a racially pure society between the years 1933 through to 1945. This society, or Volksgemeinschaft, was to contain Hitler s ideological view on what a pure person, or Aryan should be. It also involved the exclusion of anyone who did not fit this mould. The Nazi party was extremely successful in achieving their highly aimed goal. Through the Nazi s control over youth groups and in children s education, the Nazi Party and Hitler were able to reach this goal in the years 1933 to 1939, and this continued through World War Two till the end of 1945. The Nazi Party convinced children about their ideologies and by doing so paved a path for the new generation to be followers of the Third Reich. Not everyone supported the Nazi regime, but overall it was accepted by society, and the youth groups helped the Nazi party form their ideal society leading up to and during the war. When Hitler became Chancellor and passed the Enabling Act in 1933, it allowed the Nazi Party to have control over Germany. The controlling of the education system allowed the Nazi s to implement their beliefs and ideas in subjects. The problem arises when anti Catholics claim that Catholics are un American because they follow a hierarchy, rather than the American system of democracy. The democratic system allows the people to vote for their leader to govern them, however, the Catholic leader, the Pope, is not chosen by the people of the Catholic Church. Un American criticism continues with the debates and movements on Sexism and Feminism. As women s roles are changed, the Catholic Church is keeping true to its origins by keeping the governing body, the priesthood, bishops, Cardinals, and the Pope, a completely male role. The Church is criticized by many as being sexist and by that, un American, for not allowing ordination for women. Many Americans / view the church s ban on women s ordination largely in terms of democratic principles, or rights and representation (Martin). Anti Catholics throw up these accusations of sexism without contemplating the true role of women in the Catholic Church. Pope Francis said in an interview Look, in the Church women are more important than men, because the church is a woman / The Church is the bride of Jesus Christ. And the Madonna is more important that popes and bishops and priests (Ruiz). This governing structure, as well as other beliefs of the Catholic Church, seem confusing or silly to post enlightenment ideas. As human philosophy has developed after the Enlightenment, the Church has kept the doctrine the same. This has not caused the anti Catholic community to criticize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

William Walton (March 29, 1902 March 8, 1983) never had any students, and due to his highly perfectionist and obsessive nature, he left behind a relatively small body of work. Furthermore, his composition style changed very little over the course of his career, remaining, at times, rhythmically quirky, but for the most part, lyrically Romantic a style that was considered very old fashioned in a musical scene dominated by the more avant garde Benjamin Britten. Particularly after World War II, twentieth century audiences weren t interested in the music of the past of an age that hadn t yet experienced the depth of devastation and loss that they had. In spite of his lack of widespread popularity, Walton was not unsuccessful, as a number of his works have entered the canon of commonly performed classical music. For example, his Viola Concerto, written in 1929, in spite of being rejected by its intended recipient, was taken under the wing of and premiered by composer and violist Paul Hindemith to rousing and lasting success. That piece, in Walton s preferred Romantic style, harkens back to influences of Edward Elgar (1857 1934), particularly his Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (1919). Today, the Walton Viola Concerto is a staple, if not THE staple, of the viola repertoire. Additionally, when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, Walton was commissioned to write the coronation march, Orb and Sceptre, and a choral setting of Te Deum for the event. The Te Deum ... During his short life, Alexander conquered the known world and helped spread the culture of the Greeks. Much of what he accomplished must be viewed in the circumstances of his time and his upbringing. This was making of one of the finest military machines ever seen to that day and even later. The system that Philip used in ruling the Greek states helped unify them, and eliminate the notion of being a conquered people. He granted freedom and autonomy to all parties in each state; but, at the same time, established bureaucracies that were stable and loyal to him. This idea of not destroying the conquered people but placing them in charge, is seen consistently later on in Alexander s Empire. After this was done, he declared war on Persia with the support of a unified Greece. After all this, before he could start his march on Persia, he was assassinated. Philip by conquest and the organization of rule, helped Alexander inherit a united Greece and Macedonia. This enabled him to be able to conquer other lands and not waste time and effort fighting Greek states. His father, through reform, also developed the finest army of the age. • 26. Aristotle Virtuous According to Aristotle virtue is achieving excellence of the soul. (1) For man to become virtuous they must build habits that model virtuous behavior. Aristotle believed that moral virtue forms through habit and no one is born virtuous. Under this premise virtue is both learned and practiced through our behaviors. When one acts in a moral and virtuous way they become more virtuous, the opposite is true also that if one acts in a non virtuous way they will learn to become less virtuous. To be virtuous you also must maintain a balance which is called the mean. Aristotle further states that you cannot merely define virtue in terms of characteristics, you must also specify the kind of characteristic, and that this virtue renders good the thing itself of which it is the excellence, and performs its function well at the same time.(2) To live in the mean is to be virtuous. The mean is making choices that are the right amount of virtue, or the correct balance of choices. To act either in excess or a lack of virtue is a vice. It is the ability of choosing to act in the mean or middle that is considered virtuous. • 34. Themes In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech Do you know what it s like to feel abandoned? In the book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech there are a lot of themes like independency, family and many others. The ones that I like the most that I feel are the best and most represented are, motherhood and abandonment. I feel like in the book Sal is the most affected by these themes. On the start of the book Sal and her father moved to Euclid, Ohio after her mother s death. After that event Sal went through a lot of mixed feelings, she was feeling envious and guilty because she thought her mother wasn t happy with her so she was envy that she wanted another child, and when her mother lost the baby she felt guilty thinking it was her fault. She was also angry at her father because she thought he was the one who drove her mother away. And she was also feeling like she was abandoned because her mother left , and when the accident happened she felt sad because she never said goodbye to her mother and there was also a lot more of change, changes she never wanted to happen. Before Sal s mother left her she had a lot of mixed feelings, but after she did she felt even more feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is why most of the book is Sal and her grandparents traveling from Ohio to Idaho (where her mother was buried) just so Sal can say goodbye to her. And that Sal could have the closure she needed, to move on. She was also feeling like there was way too much changes going on, like the move to Euclid, her and her father living without her mother for good, and also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the modern English speaking world, the word fuck is often considered highly offensive. Most English speaking countries censor it on television and radio.
