New Sound Equipment During The Film Industry
Once the Vitaphone staked its claim in the film industry the research and application of new sound
equipment began to grow rapidly. First moving to even louder speakers for the audience to enjoy the
music even more. Then moving to stereo speakers having different sounds coming from different
speakers. Then moving to surround sound where the audience is engulfed in music and sound effects
from all around them. Finally to our current technology of IMAX sound adding even more speakers
and pushing sound to the point of shaking the seats in the theaters. One of the most important
contributions that the talkies provided was the technique of sound mixing. Going back to the rituals of
the Sumerians and through Greek and Roman period through classical and romantic opera the
instrumentalist would either have to play soft or not at all when there was singing or talking because
the instruments would drown out the voices. Now with sound mixing that is not the case. They can
always raise the voice and lower the instrumental music from machines instead of the singers trying to
sing over the orchestra. A perfect example of this explanation was given by one of the greatest film
music composers of his time Bernard Herrmann, For by separately recording music and sound and
voice, we are able to mix them together at the proper volume. The speaking voice and the music can
achieve a perfect balance. That is the greatest contribution of the genuine sound film . Without this
invention the

Information Security Management And Maintenance
ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which
had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced the
likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the attack.
These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security management
and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of being addressed,
based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears that it was still in
many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there had been more time
available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues regarding the OPM
and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues show a lack of
Information Security management and maintenance. This is made clear in an article by ABC News
that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the inspector general
s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM chief angry over hack,
2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented by the OPM, and the
appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the recommendations as well as
implement and maintain. Accountability should be put in place for the OPM management and the

Essay on Social Effects of the Berlin Wall
Outline
THESIS: From research and historical analysts, we can conclude that in many cases the people of
Germany have been effected socially and economically by the building and construction of the Berlin
Wall.
I. Background A. Beginning construction B. Closing borders C. Pre Berlin Wall II. History A. Cold
War B. World War II C. Economy III. Post Berlin Wall effects A. Economic examples B. Political

In the last fifty years the German Democratic Republic has been a nonstop changing country. In
Germany, the terms East and West do not just represent geographically regions. It runs much deeper
than that, and there is still a large gap in the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number of trained professionals in particular threatened the economy of East Germany. The Wall
changed this. It did stop the flow of people West, but imprisoned the ones living in the west.
Since World War II, about half a million people cross the border separating different parts of Belin
daily. East Berliners could attend movie theaters showing Western films, and many had jobs in the
strong economy of West Berlin. With the thriving economy, many shopped in the well stocked stores
in West Berlin. Items like jeans, fashionable dresses, and seamless panty hoses which were
unavailable in East Berlin shops were reaidly available in West Berlin shops. In addition, East
Berliners and other East Germans could simply take a subway car to flee to West Berlin and on to
West Germany.
Even today Germans are seeing the effects of the wall. To Frank Schulz, a 35 year old Berlin postman
is a prime example of the effects. Six days a week, Schulz sets off to deliver 100 kilos of mail heaped
into leather bags on his bright yellow Post Office bicycle in a Berlin neighborhood called Kopenik.
Despite the arduous labor, Schulz is paid about $2,400 a year less than most other German mailmen.
Schulz is an Ossi, the German slang for an easterner, and even though the Berlin Wall came down a
decade ago, Germans from the eastern part of the country still

The Social Security Act Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt
After getting my first part time, minimum wage job and working for several months, I was given what
is called a W 2 form. A W 2 form broke down my entire income including the income that never even
touched my hand and showed how much of it was withheld for taxes. Social Security was the largest
hunk missing, but I knew that although it pained me to see so much gone I would get it back one day.
However, that money removed went straight into the pockets of recipients, not a trust fund I would
eventually draw from, and the future of the Social Security program (and its ability to pay me back)
was in jeopardy.
After its passage on August 14, 1935, Franklin Delano Roosevelt regarded the Social Security Act as a
cornerstone in a structure which is being built but is by no means completed but whose purpose is to
take care of human needs and at the same time provide for the United States an economic structure of
vastly greater soundness. The very opposite of soundness, however, was achieved. Today, looming
deficits and abuse of the program have left it the focus of many debates. At their conclusion, the
discussions generally only point toward making it more difficult to receive the money you put in,
back, and raising taxes drastically on those still working to provide benefits for the disproportionate
amount of retirees. Its problems are vast, but a permanent solution has yet to be decided. Far less
discussed, however, is if the program itself is worth saving. Because of

The Primary Functions Of Commercial Banks
Commercial banks are institutions that conduct business for profit motive by accepting public deposits
for various investment purposes.
The functions of commercial banks are broadly classified into primary functions and secondary
functions as discussed below:
1.1.6.1 Primary Functions
The primary functions of commercial banks include the following:
(i) Accepting Deposits
Implies that commercial banks are mainly dependent on public deposits.
There are two types of deposits:
(1) Demand Deposits
Refer to those kind of deposits that can be easily withdrawn by individuals without any prior notice to
the bank. In other words, the owners of these deposits are allowed to withdraw money anytime by
simply writing a cheque. These deposits are the part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Banks pay higher interest on time deposits. These deposits can be withdrawn only after a specific time
period is completed by providing a written notice to the bank. Based on this, commercial banks offer
individuals the following accounts for depositing their money:
a. Current accounts those accounts that are mainly meant for businesses and other public and private
organisations. Current accounts are cheque operated accounts that are not for savings purposes as no
interest is paid on deposits in these accounts.
b. Savings accounts refer to accounts that promote savings among individuals while allowing them to
use their funds when required. Apart from this, individuals get interests on deposits in savings
accounts.
c. Fixed deposit accounts refer to accounts in which deposits are made for a fixed period. The deposits
in these accounts can be withdrawn before the expiry of the period, only at the cost of early
withdrawal charges. The profits are higher, if the period of deposits is longer.
(ii) Advancing Loans
Refers to one of the important functions of commercial banks. The public deposits are used by
commercial banks for the purpose of granting loans to individuals and businesses. Commercial banks

Michael Moore´s Bowling For Columbine Essay
Michael Moore´s Bowling For Columbine
Bowling For Columbine is a well directed documentary that informs people about gun violence in
America. Michael Moore is successful in showing that America has been going through many gun
tragedies; and portrays the sense that America s problems are out of control. He conveys this through
informative facts, images, and comparisons.
Throughout the film Michael Moore throws many cold facts on the screen that makes it obvious that
the strong nation of America is unruly. One of the facts that stand out the most is the number of deaths
caused by guns in America per year. In comparison to the other countries, America has an outstanding
of 11,127 gun related deaths a year. This is ten times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A perfect example is that just before Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold shot up the school, America was
dropping bombs on Kosovo. In addition, it was the most bombs dropped in that war. If the father, the
almighty American government cannot keep its composure, why does it expect its children the citizens
to be able to keep theirs? The development of an image of what the nation of America truly looks like.
Michael Moore tries to prove his point by showing images that are very intense. The most intense
image in my mind is the picture of a deformed child who has experienced the wrath of Timothy
McVeigh and Terry Nichols after bombing the federal government building in Oklahoma City. It can
be concluded that Timothy and Terry did not have the intention of hurting children; rather they were
after the federal government. This is the problem in our society; Timothy and Terry were willing to
sacrifice the souls of young children for their own cause, portraying a lot about their wild violent
minds. Moreover the picture of the destroyed building in which 168 people died, shows so much
recklessness. The fact that two men were able to organize a mass destruction portrays the
undisciplined mindset that they are in at the time of the crime, such acts of violence lays the ground
work for the film showing how America is basically repeating the past. Now that an image of America
is finally developed, Moore goes on to look at how America compares to

Hitler s Ideas Of Extermination
What do you think of when someone says extermination? you think of killing, murder, execution, and
slaughter. Well so did Adolf Hitler, he had the idea of exterminating the whole world of Jewish people
once and for all starting with Europe. He is in the top 13 deadliest dictators in history. Hitler killed
Jews in ways that each death was worse than the last. He held mass shootings, medical experiments,
and extermination centers. Hitler put them in gas chambers, overworked them and starved them,
eventually leading to disease. Out of nine million Jews Hitler killed six million in Europe alone and
victimized millions more. Can you imagine being told to stand in a line like ducks, just waiting to be

Health And Drug Administration Of The Health Care Setting
Work Place Distractions Lead to Deadly Outcomes Effective Ways to Reduce Medication Errors in the
Health Care Setting Lincoln University Suzanne Norman Ybarra One of the greatest fears of any nurse
is harming or killing a patient by making a critical medication error. The U.S. Food and Drug
Administration reports that a person dies accidently every day from a medication error and
approximately 1.3 million sustain an injury from medication errors (U.S. Food and Drug

In an effort to reduce the occurrence of medication errors, JHACO has thoroughly investigated and
implemented new safety standards of care. JHACO implemented a new standard referred to as the 10
Rights of Drug Administration. 1. The Right Drug, 2. Right Patient, 3. Right Dose, 4. Right Route, 5.
Right Time and Frequency, 6. Right Documentation, 7. Right History and Assessment, 8. Drug
approach and Right to Refuse, 9. Right Drug to Drug Interaction and Evaluation, and 10. Right
Education and Information. Failure to follow the 10 Rights of Medication Administration can result in
a patient s injury or death (Potter, Perry, Hall, Stockert, 2013). Further research in safety has proven
that reviewing the physicians order three times significantly reduced transcribing errors or entering the
order incorrectly into the electronic medical record. Training new nurses and experienced nurses to
review every order three times has shown beneficial in patient safety and has reduced medication
errors. Nurses and medical staff involved in medication administration are encouraged to have a
buddy system, where there are two nurses or trained staff members who double check all medication
calculations and assist with verifying high risk medication dosages. When there is a discrepancy
concerning any medication administration, a Stop, Think and Call policy is implemented and the
medication is held until proper documentation and verification have been obtained.

In-School Suspension
The first thing parents complain about is the due process when it comes to student discipline. Parents
complain about the consequences are too strict when it comes down to removing students out of the
classroom or the school. Due Process, a course of formal proceedings (as judicial proceedings) carried
out regularly, fairly, and in accordance with established rules and principles, (Merriam Webster
Dictionary Online, n.d.). Due process is a civil right under the United States Constitution afforded to
all. When students face disciplinary consequences, students are guaranteed due process. Students
attending public schools, must be given the opportunity for due process, in regard to restriction or
interruption of their education, due to discipline issues and reasons, (Washington Superintendent of
Public Instruction, 2014). Students that attend public schools in the state of Georgia are afforded
similar provisions (Georgia Department of Education, n.d.).

First-Wave Communism Vs. Second-Wave Feminism
Although the first two waves of feminism in the United States, the first from 1848 to the 1920s and
the second from the 1960s to the 1980s, had similar causes, the other influences in society and politics
at the time gave the two women s movements different motives, leading to different effects and
accomplishments from each wave. Simply put, first wave feminism and second wave feminism have
similar causes but differ based on their motives and effects. According to several sources, including

Reliability And Accuracy Of Polls
This essay is looking in depth at the reliability and accuracy of polls in the media.
Polls in the media
Abstract
The aim of this analytical essay was to investigate the reliability and accuracy of polls in the media.
The report includes both the strengths and weakness of the three selected polls, two of which were
conducted over the internet and the remaining over the telephone. This investigation is aimed to look
in depth at the methods of survey and the variables within it that may or may not have sufficiently
controlled or not. After the research that had been done, it was evident that there were many faults in
the survey system.
Introduction
Polls are a casting of votes that are supplied to a targeted audience, these audiences range from 18 to
50 years although this can vary depending on the subject of the questionnaire. A poll is a specific
question supplied to the public in order to gain an average opinion on the matter. The participants can
then choose one of the multiple answers that are predefined. A survey is similar to a poll in some ways
such as the series of questions provided to civilians to answer, the only discrepancy between the two is
that there is a wider range of question types.
There many different types of polls such as a push poll, opinion poll, benchmark poll, brushfire poll
entrance polls and exit polls. A push is a seemingly unbiased survey that is conducted over the
telephone by supporters of a specific political candidate. They then try to

Adoption is the process by which people take a child who was not born to them and raise them as a

What makes adopting a kid that easy? Are people really sure they want to give their kid up for
adoption, or adopt a kid? The adoption process should be changed extremely, fitting the lives of the
people that need the adoption program the most and fitting the lives of the kids that need homes and
families.
Parents place their children up for adoption for many reasons. Some parents feel that they cannot care
for the child. A parent that is not married may not want to care for a child being a single parent. Other
couples have many reasons for wanting to adopt a child. Adoption gives couples who have not given
birth to children, an opportunity to raise a family (Fanshel).
Lisa, a small town cowgirl, was 15 and pregnant. It was far past the abortion state, so adoption went
through her mind very often, since she knew she couldn t handle the baby. She thought about raising
the baby, but with absolutely no support from her parents or family members. Without the help, she
knew she could not raise the baby, especially if she planned to complete high school and then go on to
college. To Lisa, adoption seemed like the most logical and available option, but she was still scared in
making her decision. In this situation, the child of the mother would be better off, and be able to live a
better life, rather than if it would have been raised by a mother who could not possibly raise a baby.
This is when adoption can be used, but for

Free College Essays-The Notorious Metallica
The Notorious Metallica The band Metallica was officially formed on the 15th of October in 1981 by

The band came straight from Los Angeles California. The current members include James Hetfield,

Megadeth), Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, Rob McGovney, and Lloyd Grant. All but three of the
members were born in California (Metworld). The other three were from Jamaica (Grant), Michigan

Comprehensive Curriculum Paper
Part 1: Introduction to the Comprehensive Curriculum Project The purpose of the Comprehensive
Curriculum Project (CCP) is to analyze the myriad of issues that have arisen over the last few years
revolving around curricula and its use in the classroom, school, and district. With the 2010 state
adoption of the Common Core, educators experienced many different transitional issues and
developmental issues revolving around the curricula. In order to develop a deeper understanding of
these issues it is important to conduct interviews, look at the Teacher Working Conditions survey, and
to analyze local organizational models that might affect the transition to the new standards. Ralph
Tyler (1957) describes curriculum as . . . all the learning experiences planned and directed by the
school to attain its educational goals (Glatthorn, 2011, p.3). Going by this definition, one can regard
curricula as encompassing what is taught in the classroom, as well as ... Show more content on

Being able to develop a culture of collaboration and high student achievement requires rigorous
curriculum development at the school and district levels. Curriculum and instruction work together to
enhance student learning. Curriculum revolves around what is taught in school and instruction centers
around how something is taught. (Sorenson, 2011, p. 32 35) To be more specific instruction can be
defined as, the strategies, techniques, materials, media, and place where the curriculum is
implemented in schools. If instruction, or the how, of a teacher does not match up to the curriculum, or
the what, then student achievement will suffer. Vertically and horizontally aligning curriculum with
the instruction that is happening within the classroom and school will in the end lead to greater student
achievement which will be reflected on student assessments. (Sorenson, 2011, p.

Pure Water Test Lab Report
In this lab, the seeds in the pH of seven, pure water, grew the most out of both trials, just as predicted.
In trial one, the radish seeds in pure water grew gradually over the period of six days, reaching the
germination of 23 of the 25 seeds. However, all of the seeds in the other Petri dishes showed no
growth over this course of time. Trial two mimicked about the same data, with 21 of the 25 seeds
germinating in pure water and no growth in the other Petri dishes. The water in the Petri dishes that
contained baking soda turned yellow and green in both trials, yet still showed no growth. At the end of
the six days, the seeds in the Petri dish with a pH of seven began to turn green as the roots grew
longer, resembling successful germination. Overall, these findings illustrate that seeds grow best in a

Essay about The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA)
The Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) was formed in 1969. The Official IRA declared a cease
fire in the summer of 1972, and subsequently the term IRA began being used for the organization that
developed from the Provisional IRA. Organized into small, tightly knit cells under the leadership of
the Army Council the IRA has remained largely unchanged. It is difficult to know the exact number of
IRA members because of the political and economic persecution that comes with publicly endorsing
the IRA. It is estimated that there are several hundred members, plus several thousand sympathizers,
but the IRA s strength may have been affected by operatives leaving the organization to join hard line
splinter groups.

Secretary of State for Northern Ireland announced her finding that the cease fire was being observed,
allowing Sinn Fein, the political party closely identified with the IRA, entry into negotiations on
Northern Ireland s political future. The July 20 cease fire ended a 17 month terrorism campaign and
led to the opening of inclusive political talks in September. Following the cease fire there was a
marked decrease of sectarian violence but not a total cessation. Police believe that paramilitary groups
in Northern Ireland were responsible for 22 deaths, 251 shootings, and 78 bombings during 1997

We explain how multiples are calculated and discuss the different variations that can be employed. We
discuss the differences between equity and enterprise multiples, show how target or fair multiples can
be derived from underlying value drivers, and discuss the ways multiples can be used in valuation. For
each multiple, we show its calculation and derivation from underlying DCF fundamentals, discuss its
strengths and weaknesses, and suggest appropriate use.

What Is a Multiple?
A valuation multiple is simply an expression of market value relative to a key statistic that is assumed
to relate to that value. To be useful, that statistic whether earnings, cash flow or some other measure
must bear a logical relationship to the market value observed; to be seen, in fact, as the driver of that
market value.
Two basic types: enterprise
There are two basic types of multiple enterprise value and equity:
and equity multiples s s
Enterprise multiples e xpress the value of an entire enterprise the value of all claims on a business
relative to a statistic that relates to the entire enterprise, such as sales or EBIT.
Equity multiples, by contrast, express the value of shareholders claims on the assets and cash flow of
the business. An equity multiple therefore expresses the value of this claim relative

Persuasive Essay Against Gun Violence
GUN VIOLENCE IN THE US
Against The Violence of Guns
In today s society, so many people have hidden guns in their homes, whether it s for protection or for
hunting or any reason and some of these people turn up in the news because their children somehow
got to their gun. News all over the United States cover cases where bullied children or misunderstood
children walk into a school with loaded guns and knowing exactly how to operate them and have the
heart to kill many of their classmates. Often the case, the parents of these young children had no idea
these children even knew where their guns were. In other cases, it is very easy to find a place where
you can purchase a gun without state permit nor prior registration, facilitating the purchase of these
guns. All over the world, guns are as simple to find as gum, and keeping one around your home is as
safe as it is dangerous because it isn t about who has a gun, its about what they can do with it.
Although everyone s reason for owning guns is for safety only, there are different methods of
protection that are safer than having a gun that can cause more damage than safety, and also many
reasons not to own one at all.
Throughout US History, there has been many amendments put in place that have put peoples lives in
danger. The 2nd amendment talks about how people have the right to keep a gun in their house for a

A Driver s License For Undocumented Immigrants
Secondly, by getting a driver s license, undocumented drivers will contribute to the State Revenue
through taxes and related market by expanding the insurance auto sales, the driving schools market.
The majority of undocumented people came in the U.S. unknown well as the land of free and full of
opportunity to find a better life and future for themselves and their families. So, having a driver s
license will allow them to get more jobs and be more productive members in our economy as a driving

illegally with tremendous benefits. Edmund Kozak, political reporter for lifezette.com in an article on
April 8, 2016 States to Illegal Aliens Welcome argued that unfortunately, many States have decided to
go into the business of encouraging illegal immigration. Some 605,000 of the roughly 1.4 million
driver s license issue in California last year went to illegal aliens. Kozak said that the cost of the
processing of the new applicants is estimated at $ 141 million over three years. This cost will be
supported by the legal citizens of California because the State did not require those undocumented to
pay taxes. Undoubtedly, these allegations might be dictated by the stereotypes which are used against
undocumented immigrants, and unfortunately, many people are blinded by the single story about these
hardworking people. If legal citizens paid for the fees related to driving licenses, why would it be
different for undocumented drivers? If undocumented people accepted to work and pay federal taxes
without the same benefits as other legal workers, why would they not pay for their driving license? In
States that issue permits to undocumented aliens, the policy has largely self funded; i.e., fees collected
from applicants pay for the costs of issuing the permit explained in the Boston Editorial Immigration
has Nothing to do with Driving Skills. Based on that, it is clear that the license would not be funded
by the State but by the applicants themselves.

Great Wall Of China Research Paper
What is a wall? According to dictionary.com a wall is any of various permanent upright constructions
having a length much greater than the thickness and presenting a continuous surface except where
pierced by doors, windows, etc.: used for shelter, protection, or privacy, or to subdivide interior space,
to support floors, roofs, or the like, to retain earth, to fence in an area, etc. A wall can be so much more
though. It can be a symbol of great power and might or it can be a show of technological advancement
and innovation. The main purpose of a wall, however, is usually protection. There are the walls that
help keep our houses safe from the outside conditions or the walls that give us privacy from our loved
ones. Nowadays we don t need huge walls to block off countries or invaders because we have had
technological advancements in other areas. However, even though it can symbolize a lot a wall is

Constantine I Outline
Constantine I, a.k.a. Constantine the Great, was a Byzantine (or Eastern Roman) emperor who is
widely credited for the conversion of the empire to Christianity. Born on February 27 in c. 280 C.E. in
what is now called Serbia, he was originally named Flavius Valerius Constantinus after his father, a
renowned army officer. [ Constantine I ] His death was on May 22, 337 C.E. in Ancyrona, Bithynia (in

Maximian. From there, the young Constantine was raised under emperor Diocletian in the East. [

position on the Bosporus Strait was easy to defend not only itself but parts of the eastern and
Danubian frontiers. [ Heritage ] With this change in location and that of system of ruling, Constantine
I established a period of unity and peace for Rome. However, though he ruled until his death, the

Anti War Movement Essay
Anti War Movement
During the year of 1965 the Vietnam War made an impact of negativity on the United States. Anti war
protests began to roar and break out in December of 1969 when the government held a draft lottery
where they would pull drafting cards to send men over to Vietnam to fight. Because so many
Americans were against the war it caused protesters to burn their drafting cards. While the vietnam

Unfortunately in the following year of 1974 Nixon resigned his years in office due to the charges he

the November congressional elections, the democrats brought victory to the new congress. The issue
then was that the majority of the new members used their power to defund the pledge we made to

Power Of Women In The Canterbury Tales
Many medieval texts seem to focus on depicting men and their adventures fighting evil, they
nonetheless have quite a bit to say about women exerting power in these texts. The 2 medieval works
that portrays women exerting power is, The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s tale prologue and The
Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and tale , both written by Geoffrey Chaucer.
The women in these texts portray their power through sexuality. This is one of the abilities that women
can offer to have maximum power. Women are usually shown as an impotent object that can only bare
children and are expected to be mothers. Women typically are not seen as warriors or heroes, because
of the antifeminist views by men back in the medieval texts. The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s
prologue by Chaucer is about a woman who exercises power and authority through her instrument of
sexuality towards her husbands. This woman has utter control over her men, which proves the
statement that women do exert power over men in these medieval passages. The second passage
called, The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

how she behaves. Is she believes that what the scoundrel said is a lie, then she has no excuse to behave
the way she does to her husbands, except the fact that her husbands are henpecked. The wife also has
an entertaining side of her, which is seemingly positive. The woman already has five husbands that

Breaking The Prairie Symbol
A Symbol of the Pioneer Glory: Breaking the Prairie
The pioneer and all his train are now arrived safely in the realm of Romance. His prairie schooner
drawn by oxen, his log cabin...his prairie of a thousand variable charms...his founding of
government... all these, because they are long past and we are proud of the courage and hardihood of
our fathers...and a little proud of ourselves for having descended from them all these transmuted to the
very stuff of fable, the very texture of myth. The glory of Lincoln is not unconnected with the pioneer

This can be explained particularly in the case of the Morrill Act signed by the former president himself
in 1862, which established the donation of public lands to various states in order to establish
universities with three land grant ideals: higher education that is accessible to all, the obligations of
universities to teach liberal arts and practical subjects, and to share knowledge far beyond the campus
borders. Iowa was the first state to accept the Act, making Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm
the nation s first land grant institution. Until today, Iowa State still remains true to the land grant
missions, and continues to strive for excellence as a national leader of modern land grant institutions.
Speaking of which, I realize the first land grant ideal: Open higher education to all regardless of race,
gender and background is closely associated with one of the greatest achievements of Lincoln the
issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation that led to the abolishment of slavery in the United States.
If it were not for Lincoln s contributions, the ideal might have not been made possible. Furthermore,

Woman were largely responsible for cooking, cleaning, sewing and raising the children as well as
assisting with the farm crops and animals. In cities, many women who lacked higher education joined
the workforce by becoming domestic servants and maids. African American and unmarried immigrant
women often used this path to employment. In 1900, a quarter of women who worked outside the
home worked in industry, with almost half working in the garment industry. The growth of business
demanded workers to fill in the expanding clerical, stenograph and office work. To meet this demand,
more women sought further education to train for these jobs. Women in the middle and upper classes
created and joined groups dedicated to promoting culture and education. Due to their efforts, the
number of women s colleges increased and many of the new college graduates joined and aided the
various reform movements. These reform movements were focused on increasing safety in the
workplace and at home. The National Association of Colored Women was created to help African
Americans by providing family based support opportunities such as nurseries, reading rooms and

A Role of Ethics and Social Responsibilities in Management.
Ethics can be defined as a process of evaluating actions according to moral principal of

The Role Of Christ s Body And The Relics Of Bodies Essay
Bodies, living and dead, play an immense role in Christianity. The body and the relics of bodies are
actually able to become places where one can have direct contact with God, but only if there are
sanctified (Nachaj, Lecture 12). There are many examples of ways to sanctification including but not
limited to, celibacy, poverty, martyrdom, preaching and spreading the gospel, leading communities
through teachings, and performing miracles (Nachaj, Lecture 12). Many of these important practices
and ways of living are discussed in the following paper including the importance of Jesus Christ (in
his living and dead form), martyrs such an Julian of Norwich, shrines, relics, and monks and nuns. In
most cases provided, it is explained how to body is a sin like possession that Christians are constantly
trying to strive away from but this is proved wrong through way of looking at God s creations.
By far, one of the most prominent bodies to playa role in Christian teaching and practice would be that
of Jesus the Christ s body; in physical and spiritual form. Jesus was seen as being both human, in the
flesh, and God, in the spirit (Nachaj, Lecture 12). For Christians, Jesus is seen in direct relation of God
as either sharing a father son relationship with him, or as actually being the bodied version of God
himself. Christianity s central doctrines the incarnation, the crucifixion, the resurrection and its
essential rituals baptism and communion are all theological assertions in

The Puzzle Of 15 Puzzle
N Puzzle is a sliding puzzle that consists of a frame of numbered square tiles in random order with one
tile missing. The N Puzzle is known in finite versions such as the 8 puzzle (a 3x3 board) and the 15
puzzle (a 4x4 board), and with various names like sliding block , tile puzzle , etc. [1][2]
The 15 puzzle is a sliding square puzzle commonly attributed to Sam Loyd. However, research by
Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had
nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle
began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. Loyd first
claimed in 1891 that he invented the puzzle, and he continued until his death a 20 year campaign to
falsely take credit for the puzzle. The actual inventor was Noyes Chapman, the Postmaster of
Canastota, New York, and he applied for a patent in March 1880. [4]
The N Puzzle is a board game for a single player. It consists of (N^2 1) numbered squared tiles in
random order, and one blank space ( a missing tile ). The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the tiles
in order by making sliding moves that use the empty space, using the fewest moves. Moves of the
puzzle are made by sliding an adjacent tile into the empty space. Only tiles that are horizontally or
vertically adjacent to the blank space (not diagonally adjacent) may be moved. [2]

The Growing Problem of Food Intolerance
Food intolerance has been a growing problem. Symptoms can vary anywhere from nausea, skin
rashes, anemia, depressions to nutritional deficiencies as well as thyroid disease, kidney failure and
cancer. This research paper explores information regarding food intolerance looking specifically at the
role of gluten on the immune system and how an elimination diet plays a role.
Gluten is a protein found in most cereal grains and is consumed in greater quantities than any other
form of protein. It has been estimated that 6% to 7% of the U.S population have been diagnosed to be
gluten sensitive, bringing that number to almost 20 million people. Intolerance to gluten relates to
gastrointestinal problems which include diarrhea, bloating and might result in consumption. Other
body systems that are affected are the central and peripheral nervous systems, the integumentary
system and the endocrine system. Berstad et al at Oslo s Lovisenberg Diaconale Hospital studied 84
participants who have been referred to gastroenterologists for digestive problems which the patients
think are caused by sensitivities to certain kinds of foods. The results of the study showed that all by

The Lifeblood On Any Online Business Is Traffic And...
The lifeblood on any online business is traffic and visibility. To get the most traffic, merchants create
affiliate programs, literally a virtual sales team to help promote their site and products. Anyone can
sign up to be an affiliate to most affiliate programs. You promote their products, they do all the
customer service, shipping, and refunds of the product. You promote, and when the merchant makes a
sale from a customer that you referred, you make a commission.
The merchant may choose to pay a flat fee or a percentage of the product s price. Let s say you re
promoting a $149 product, and the merchant pays you a 50% commission. For every sale you refer,
you earn a $74.50 commission. To track the people that you refer to the site, you re given an affiliate
link. These are links that are coded with identifiable information so that the merchant knows that the
customer came from your link and you are credited with the sale. Some merchants pay as high as 75%
commission.
Affiliate marketing is probably the easiest way to start an online business. You don t need to have a
website, products, a customer service or shipping department. You simply send traffic to the merchant
s website, and earn commissions. While it is easy to get started in affiliate marketing, you still need to
learn, understand and implement some basic business concepts to be successful.
Some of the things you will need to learn are:

Comparison between the range of emotions felt by the speaker in Sister Maude and Brothers .
In Both Sister Maude and Brother a range of language devices are used in order to portray the

Both poems use structural elements in order to portray a certain effect on the reader and to make them
feel certain emotions just based on the way the poems are structured. In Sister Maude the enjambment

Guilt is a theme that occurs in both poems as the individual feels remorseful for what they ve done. In
Sister Maude the guilt is quite an obvious one; the guilt of Maude killing her sisters lover out of
jealousy. The hatred of Maude s sister is emphasised particularly in the last two stanzas and most
effectively in the last line; Bide you with death and sin. Even at the end of the poem Maudes sister has
not forgiven her and has no future plans of doing so due to the full stop appearance at the end. This
really cuts off the poem and the relationship between Maude and her sister as a sister relationship is
thought to be a loving and caring one which completely juxtaposes the entirety of the poem. The guilt
in Brothers is an obvious one

Synthetic Hormone Synthesis
When a drug company representative (we call them drug dealers ) came to my office selling some
prescription drugs, I asked him, Do you carry bioidentical hormones? He said, Nope. I asked why. He
answered, Doc, don t you know that according to American laws, natural substances cannot be
patented? No patent, no money. No other treatment has ignited as many debates and controversy as
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). Official medicine proponents including the
FDA, International Menopause Society, American Medical Association, Endocrine Society, Mayo
Clinic, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists have stated that Bioidentical
Hormones carry the same risks as synthetic hormones, and that there is no ... Show more content on

Recently, two branches of government research tried to decide if Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was
associated with the exotic XMRV virus. One group (Harvey Alter, FDA and National Institutes of
Health) found that there was a link. Another group (William Switzer, CDC), found the contrary 17. If
scientists who are using the same methods and tests on the same virus cannot come to the same
conclusion, how could they be so unanimous in a more complicated subject like Bioidentical
Hormones? As for the FDA s decision that the risks of Bioidenticals are the same as those for
synthetic hormones, what are these opinions based on? Did the FDA test Bioidentical Hormones? Not
that I m aware of. They assumed that Bioidenticals work the same as synthetic hormones, which we
know might be in fact harmful. It s like assuming that a one dollar bill has the same value as a hundred
dollar bill, because they re the same size. On the other hand, proponents of Bioidentical Hormone
Replacement Therapy are saying that these hormones are safe and have almost no side effects. Two
French studies published in 2008 suggest that Bioidenticals are safer than conventional HRT.
According to Dr. Kent Holtorf s literature review bioidential hormones appears to be safer and more
potent then synthetic therefore physicians may opt for biodenticals for now unless new data is
available from new studies.

Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia Convention Summary
In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention , he states , I have but one lamp by which my
feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience (Henry 3). Henry gave this speech on March 23,
1775 at Richmond, Virginia. He recognized that the relationship between the 13 colonies and Great
Britain was turning sour. Henry has previous experiences with Britain have lead him to believing that
a war is the best decision. Patrick Henry stood before the colonists of Virginia, and gave them a
compelling speech of why their relations with England has to change. Patrick Henry gave a homely
called Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he utilized persuasive tone and allusion to relay
his views of Great Britain to the colonists of Virginia.
Henry s persuasive tone advises his fellow colonists to rebel against England in order to gain their
freedom. In the opening of his speech, he claims, No man thinks more highly than I do of the
patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House
(Henry 1). Henry treats his fellow congressmen with respect in order to gain credibility and trust, in
order to be more persuasive to the audience. Patrick Henry s approach is peaceful, as he is avoiding
aggressiveness. Which, gains the trust and respect of his peers. This persuades the colonists to take
Henry seriously, because and gives them the sense that he is not belittling them. He makes a point of
this by saying, As well as

The Miss En Scene Of National And International Fisheries
Now that we have deconstructed the basic premises and their place in the miss en scène of national
and international fisheries, let us move to a more detailed analysis of the text s subpoints examining
the chapters for any underlying perspectives or evidence that significantly contribute to the arguments
overall persuasiveness. The analysis that follows intends to capture each critical argument unfolding
and developing itself, giving the reader a means to then discuss the contributions in regard to the
circulation of wider discourse. Chapters 2 4: International regulation, political economy of regulation,
and regulatory capture. We have already considered much of chapter 2 when regarding CPRs, the
most important definition given by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Environmental economics provides an appropriate set of analytical tools to understand CPRs even
though most regulation draws largely on the logics of population biology (Barkin p. 37). The
discussion continues to recognise scientific based secretariat rule proposals being undermined by
states final decision making power, and how sovereign representatives avoid advice in favour of free
rider benefits.
The central argument of chapter 3 is a tension in the approaches to resource management; biologist (or
anthropocentric view) are put premium on the value of ecosystems and biodiversity sustainability
perspective while the econocentric view is focused on maximising present value of fishery resources
without regard for the unmonetised ecological utility. In a sense, multilateral cooperation finds a
midpoint between these differing worldviews, but the former analysis of CPR enjoys privilege among
stakeholders because it is more comfortably aligned with their interests or perhaps until it is too late in
which case ecological value has finally attained equal or greater economic status than the present
value of fisheries. Applying these understandings to the overall argument that micro regulation alone
is insufficient, by considering the theoretical perspectives and various co author studies as evidence,
one finds

Graphical User Interfaces
Modern society heavily depends on the abilities of computers, Information Technology, and
information processing. As such, since access to information occurs mainly through digital means and
media, the way information is arranged and presented on the screen is crucial. Because of this need for
fast access and easy arrangement arose, in the early 1980s, companies started to work on various
graphical user interfaces (or GUI for short). Most dictionaries define a GUI as a way of arranging
information on a computer screen that is easy to understand and use because it uses icons, menus and
a mouse rather than only text. Introducing such software allowed a human computer interaction on a
visual plane, and took computing to an entirely new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Graphical User Interfaces became a standard for giving commands and retrieving information,
computers were controlled through the means of a text based interface. This meant that a person had to
enter text commands in order to communicate with the computer, which meant that one had to know
various commands that could be entered and specific, technologic jargon that for a normal person , not
prominent in the art of computing was simply hard, or even impossible to comprehend and memorize.
On top of that, the data was displayed on the screen was usually presented in form of a column of text,
employing the aforementioned jargon and syntax of computer language . As a consequence, computers
were rather reserved for enthusiasts and professionals than general public, which at that time didn t
find them useful or attractive.
When a user interface that focused on presenting information in a graphical way appeared, a
revolution took place. Suddenly, a common person even one, that has never dealt with such a device
before could approach a computer, and be actually able to perform operations on it, using a pointer
device instead of typing complicated commands on a keyboard. If he wanted to move a file from one
place to another, he wouldn t have to type COPY followed with a string of letters and symbols, but
simply grab the file with the arrow, drag it across the screen, and drop it where he wanted. Such action

Vladimir Ivanovich Putin Research Paper
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born on October 7th, 1952, in Leningrad (which is now St.
Petersburg), Russia. He was the youngest out of three children to late parents Vladimir Spiridonovich
Putin and Maria Ivanovna Putina. He started school in September 1, 1960, and was one of the only
kids in his class of 45, who was not yet a member of the Young Pioneers organization. During his time
at the local grammar school, Putin developed an interest in sports, and focused more on that than his
learning. In 1970, Putin became a student at Leningrad University, majoring in law. After graduating
in 1975, he had his mind set on becoming an intelligence officer for the KGB. He started training at
the KGB school in Okhta, Leningrad. From there he began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Due to Russia s constitutional terms Putin could not run a third term at the time, but he managed to
hold a primary position to help influence his protégé Dmitry Medvedev who succeeded him in
presidency. In 2012, Vladimir Putin was re elected to his third term as president. Protests and
allegations were made for electoral fraud. Delaying his inauguration till May 7, 2012. In December of
that year, Putin put a ban on the U.S. adoption of Russian children, aiming to make it easier for
Russians to adopt native children. This adoption ban however turned into national controversy, leaving
almost 50 children who were in the final phases of adoption with U.S. citizens at the time, into legal
limbo. Putin from there put further strain on the relations with the U.S. and Russia the following year
when he granted asylum to Edward Snowden, who was a wanted man by the U.S. for leaking
classified information from the National Security Agency. In response, current president at the time
Barack Obama canceled a meeting he had planned with Putin that

David Foster Wallace, Jessica Mittford s Essay
Being considerate toward everybody and everything is the ideal goal that everybody hopes to achieve.
Though the idea of being considerate is different depending on the person so reaching that point in the
world is impossible to achieve since there is no baseline for that, we have many competing ideas as to
what that could be. Some people see being considerate as being thoughtful of other people but others
will see it as a deeper meaning with being courteous toward all living things on Earth and their
belongings. There are so many different ways to be considerate and the readings of David Foster
Wallace, Jessica Mittford, and Caitlin Doughty all have underlying messages of how people need to be
more aware of what they are doing. Each piece ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is after he just gets done about talking about his own thoughts on the lobsters and how it is alright
if people keep eating it. Now if he is fine with people eating lobsters and wants to keep eating animals
on his own time why does he spend time writing this entire essay? This essay is filled with so many
sensory details that the reader can feel such as the noise of the scuttling against the boiling pot with
the lobster in it. He does this on purpose to bring to light something you may not think about or brush
off as nothing is actually going against your morals. Wallace poses an interesting question in the
conclusion of his essay by saying, Do you think much about the (possible) moral status and (probable)
suffering of the animals involved? If you do, what ethical convictions have you worked out that permit
you not just to eat but to savor and enjoy flesh based viands (510). This is his whole purpose of
writing this essay since this question alone brings you back through his entire essay and all the
insignificant details he talked about and made you realize how significant they are in the amount of
harm you may be bringing to the animal. This whole idea of awareness and making sure your actions
line up with your morales is echoed in the writings of Jessica Mittford in her story The American Way
of Death Revisited. Mittford opens the eyes of the reader to see what American s see as a

Boeing
History
(Encyclopedia Britannica) Boeing can trace its origins all the way back to 1916. American timber
merchant William E. Boeing founded the Aero Products Company after he and U.S. Navy officer
Conrad Westervelt develop a single engine seaplane. The seaplane was called the B W Seaplane. In
1917 the company was renamed Boeing Airplane Company. Also in 1917 Boeing would go on to
produce seaplanes for the US Navy. Also in 1917 Boeing would go on to produce seaplanes for the US
Navy. Thus starting a long and lucrative relationship between Boeing and the U.S. Armed Forces.
From the 1920s to the 1930s Boeing produced a vast array of aircraft for the U.S. Military. This

This allowed a pilot who trained in one aircraft to virtually be able to fly the other thus reducing crew
training cost and increasing productivity for the airlines. As the years passed technology increased.
Traditionally when Boeing designed an airplane they would have to build a mock up. With the
advancement of the computer, the need to build mock ups were no more. The 777 was developed fully
on computers. In 1991 Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and General Dynamics teamed up to build a new
stealth fighter for the United States military. The aircraft would later be called the F 22 Raptor. In
1995 Boeing joined Ukrainian, Russian, and Norway, to form Sea Launch. It was a commercial launch
services that sent satellites into orbit. In 2008 Boeing began taking orders for its new 787 Dreamliner.
With fuel costs on the rise in the late 2000s, many airlines saw the 787 as a way to upgrade their fleet.
The 787 was faced with several production problems. Some of which included the failure of a crucial
fuselage section. Consequently, the 787 was not delivered until 2011. On January 2013 the Federal
Aviation Administration issued an airworthiness directive forcing all 787 to be grounded. Until the

  • 2. New Sound Equipment During The Film Industry Once the Vitaphone staked its claim in the film industry the research and application of new sound equipment began to grow rapidly. First moving to even louder speakers for the audience to enjoy the music even more. Then moving to stereo speakers having different sounds coming from different speakers. Then moving to surround sound where the audience is engulfed in music and sound effects from all around them. Finally to our current technology of IMAX sound adding even more speakers and pushing sound to the point of shaking the seats in the theaters. One of the most important contributions that the talkies provided was the technique of sound mixing. Going back to the rituals of the Sumerians and through Greek and Roman period through classical and romantic opera the instrumentalist would either have to play soft or not at all when there was singing or talking because the instruments would drown out the voices. Now with sound mixing that is not the case. They can always raise the voice and lower the instrumental music from machines instead of the singers trying to sing over the orchestra. A perfect example of this explanation was given by one of the greatest film music composers of his time Bernard Herrmann, For by separately recording music and sound and voice, we are able to mix them together at the proper volume. The speaking voice and the music can achieve a perfect balance. That is the greatest contribution of the genuine sound film . Without this invention the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Information Security Management And Maintenance ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced the likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the attack. These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security management and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of being addressed, based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears that it was still in many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there had been more time available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues regarding the OPM and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues show a lack of Information Security management and maintenance. This is made clear in an article by ABC News that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the inspector general s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM chief angry over hack, 2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented by the OPM, and the appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the recommendations as well as implement and maintain. Accountability should be put in place for the OPM management and the security and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Social Effects of the Berlin Wall Outline THESIS: From research and historical analysts, we can conclude that in many cases the people of Germany have been effected socially and economically by the building and construction of the Berlin Wall. The number of trained professionals in particular threatened the economy of East Germany. The Wall changed this. It did stop the flow of people West, but imprisoned the ones living in the west. Since World War II, about half a million people cross the border separating different parts of Belin daily. East Berliners could attend movie theaters showing Western films, and many had jobs in the strong economy of West Berlin. With the thriving economy, many shopped in the well stocked stores in West Berlin. Items like jeans, fashionable dresses, and seamless panty hoses which were unavailable in East Berlin shops were reaidly available in West Berlin shops. In addition, East Berliners and other East Germans could simply take a subway car to flee to West Berlin and on to West Germany. Even today Germans are seeing the effects of the wall. To Frank Schulz, a 35 year old Berlin postman is a prime example of the effects. Six days a week, Schulz sets off to deliver 100 kilos of mail heaped into leather bags on his bright yellow Post Office bicycle in a Berlin neighborhood called Kopenik. Despite the arduous labor, Schulz is paid about $2,400 a year less than most other German mailmen. Schulz is an Ossi, the German slang for an easterner, and even though the Berlin Wall came down a decade ago, Germans from the eastern part of the country still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Social Security Act Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt After getting my first part time, minimum wage job and working for several months, I was given what is called a W 2 form. A W 2 form broke down my entire income including the income that never even touched my hand and showed how much of it was withheld for taxes. Social Security was the largest hunk missing, but I knew that although it pained me to see so much gone I would get it back one day. However, that money removed went straight into the pockets of recipients, not a trust fund I would eventually draw from, and the future of the Social Security program (and its ability to pay me back) was in jeopardy. After its passage on August 14, 1935, Franklin Delano Roosevelt regarded the Social Security Act as a cornerstone in a structure which is being built but is by no means completed but whose purpose is to take care of human needs and at the same time provide for the United States an economic structure of vastly greater soundness. The very opposite of soundness, however, was achieved. Today, looming deficits and abuse of the program have left it the focus of many debates. At their conclusion, the discussions generally only point toward making it more difficult to receive the money you put in, back, and raising taxes drastically on those still working to provide benefits for the disproportionate amount of retirees. Its problems are vast, but a permanent solution has yet to be decided. Far less discussed, however, is if the program itself is worth saving. Because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Michael Moore´s Bowling For Columbine Essay Michael Moore´s Bowling For Columbine Bowling For Columbine is a well directed documentary that informs people about gun violence in America. Michael Moore is successful in showing that America has been going through many gun tragedies; and portrays the sense that America s problems are out of control. He conveys this through informative facts, images, and comparisons. Throughout the film Michael Moore throws many cold facts on the screen that makes it obvious that the strong nation of America is unruly. One of the facts that stand out the most is the number of deaths caused by guns in America per year. In comparison to the other countries, America has an outstanding of 11,127 gun related deaths a year. This is ten times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the father, the almighty American government cannot keep its composure, why does it expect its children the citizens to be able to keep theirs? The development of an image of what the nation of America truly looks like. Michael Moore tries to prove his point by showing images that are very intense. The most intense image in my mind is the picture of a deformed child who has experienced the wrath of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols after bombing the federal government building in Oklahoma City. It can be concluded that Timothy and Terry did not have the intention of hurting children; rather they were after the federal government. This is the problem in our society; Timothy and Terry were willing to sacrifice the souls of young children for their own cause, portraying a lot about their wild violent minds. Moreover the picture of the destroyed building in which 168 people died, shows so much recklessness. The fact that two men were able to organize a mass destruction portrays the undisciplined mindset that they are in at the time of the crime, such acts of violence lays the ground work for the film showing how America is basically repeating the past. Now that an image of America is finally developed, Moore goes on to look at how America compares to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Polls in the media Abstract The aim of this analytical essay was to investigate the reliability and accuracy of polls in the media. The report includes both the strengths and weakness of the three selected polls, two of which were conducted over the internet and the remaining over the telephone. This investigation is aimed to look in depth at the methods of survey and the variables within it that may or may not have sufficiently controlled or not. After the research that had been done, it was evident that there were many faults in the survey system. A poll is a specific question supplied to the public in order to gain an average opinion on the matter. The participants can then choose one of the multiple answers that are predefined. A survey is similar to a poll in some ways such as the series of questions provided to civilians to answer, the only discrepancy between the two is that there is a wider range of question types. The adoption process should be changed extremely, fitting the lives of the people that need the adoption program the most and fitting the lives of the kids that need homes and families. Parents place their children up for adoption for many reasons. Some parents feel that they cannot care for the child. A parent that is not married may not want to care for a child being a single parent. Other couples have many reasons for wanting to adopt a child. Adoption gives couples who have not given birth to children, an opportunity to raise a family (Fanshel). Lisa, a small town cowgirl, was 15 and pregnant. • 16. Comprehensive Curriculum Paper Part 1: Introduction to the Comprehensive Curriculum Project The purpose of the Comprehensive Curriculum Project (CCP) is to analyze the myriad of issues that have arisen over the last few years revolving around curricula and its use in the classroom, school, and district. With the 2010 state adoption of the Common Core, educators experienced many different transitional issues and developmental issues revolving around the curricula. In order to develop a deeper understanding of these issues it is important to conduct interviews, look at the Teacher Working Conditions survey, and to analyze local organizational models that might affect the transition to the new standards. Ralph Tyler (1957) describes curriculum as . . . all the learning experiences planned and directed by the school to attain its educational goals (Glatthorn, 2011, p.3). In trial one, the radish seeds in pure water grew gradually over the period of six days, reaching the germination of 23 of the 25 seeds. However, all of the seeds in the other Petri dishes showed no growth over this course of time. Trial two mimicked about the same data, with 21 of the 25 seeds germinating in pure water and no growth in the other Petri dishes. The water in the Petri dishes that contained baking soda turned yellow and green in both trials, yet still showed no growth. At the end of the six days, the seeds in the Petri dish with a pH of seven began to turn green as the roots grew longer, resembling successful germination. The Official IRA declared a cease fire in the summer of 1972, and subsequently the term IRA began being used for the organization that developed from the Provisional IRA. Organized into small, tightly knit cells under the leadership of the Army Council the IRA has remained largely unchanged. It is difficult to know the exact number of IRA members because of the political and economic persecution that comes with publicly endorsing the IRA. News all over the United States cover cases where bullied children or misunderstood children walk into a school with loaded guns and knowing exactly how to operate them and have the heart to kill many of their classmates. Although everyone s reason for owning guns is for safety only, there are different methods of protection that are safer than having a gun that can cause more damage than safety, and also many reasons not to own one at all. Throughout US History, there has been many amendments put in place that have put peoples lives in danger. Edmund Kozak, political reporter for lifezette.com in an article on April 8, 2016 States to Illegal Aliens Welcome argued that unfortunately, many States have decided to go into the business of encouraging illegal immigration. Some 605,000 of the roughly 1.4 million driver s license issue in California last year went to illegal aliens. Kozak said that the cost of the processing of the new applicants is estimated at $ 141 million over three years. This cost will be supported by the legal citizens of California because the State did not require those undocumented to pay taxes. Undoubtedly, these allegations might be dictated by the stereotypes which are used against undocumented immigrants, and unfortunately, many people are blinded by the single story about these hardworking people. If legal citizens paid for the fees related to driving licenses, why would it be different for undocumented drivers? If undocumented people accepted to work and pay federal taxes without the same benefits as other legal workers, why would they not pay for their driving license? In States that issue permits to undocumented aliens, the policy has largely self funded; i.e., fees collected from applicants pay for the costs of issuing the permit explained in the Boston Editorial Immigration has Nothing to do with Driving Skills. The 2 medieval works that portrays women exerting power is, The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s tale prologue and The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and tale , both written by Geoffrey Chaucer. However, research by Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. My sister and I went straight up to our room, there were two twin sized beds, and a closet. We unloaded and went to bed at 1 in the morning. The next day everyone woke up around the same time, my mom searched up the weather up, it was going to be a hot one, we knew it was going to be a beach day. We packed snacks, put our bathing suits on, and walked to the beach. Right away my cousins and I went to find shells, starfish, and sand dollars, I found a lot of shells, sand dollars, and my goal was to find a starfish, and I did. • 39. The Growing Problem of Food Intolerance Food intolerance has been a growing problem. Symptoms can vary anywhere from nausea, skin rashes, anemia, depressions to nutritional deficiencies as well as thyroid disease, kidney failure and cancer. This research paper explores information regarding food intolerance looking specifically at the role of gluten on the immune system and how an elimination diet plays a role. Gluten is a protein found in most cereal grains and is consumed in greater quantities than any other form of protein. It has been estimated that 6% to 7% of the U.S population have been diagnosed to be gluten sensitive, bringing that number to almost 20 million people. Intolerance to gluten relates to gastrointestinal problems which include diarrhea, bloating and might result in consumption. Other body systems that are affected are the central and peripheral nervous systems, the integumentary system and the endocrine system. Berstad et al at Oslo s Lovisenberg Diaconale Hospital studied 84 participants who have been referred to gastroenterologists for digestive problems which the patients think are caused by sensitivities to certain kinds of foods. The results of the study showed that all by one participant was qualified for irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, 85% had symptoms indicating chronic fatigue syndrome and 74% showed symptoms of fibromyalgia. In children, the neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD, autism spectrum disorders, have been on the increase since 1980 and with an average of 4.3:1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Lifeblood On Any Online Business Is Traffic And... The lifeblood on any online business is traffic and visibility. To get the most traffic, merchants create affiliate programs, literally a virtual sales team to help promote their site and products. Anyone can sign up to be an affiliate to most affiliate programs. You promote their products, they do all the customer service, shipping, and refunds of the product. You promote, and when the merchant makes a sale from a customer that you referred, you make a commission. The merchant may choose to pay a flat fee or a percentage of the product s price. Let s say you re promoting a $149 product, and the merchant pays you a 50% commission. For every sale you refer, you earn a $74.50 commission. To track the people that you refer to the site, you re given an affiliate link. These are links that are coded with identifiable information so that the merchant knows that the customer came from your link and you are credited with the sale. Some merchants pay as high as 75% commission. Affiliate marketing is probably the easiest way to start an online business. You don t need to have a website, products, a customer service or shipping department. You simply send traffic to the merchant s website, and earn commissions. While it is easy to get started in affiliate marketing, you still need to learn, understand and implement some basic business concepts to be successful. Some of the things you will need to learn are: 1. Choosing the products that are best aligned to your chosen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay about Brothers and Sister Maude Comparison Brothers and Sister Maude comparison Matthew Davis Comparison between the range of emotions felt by the speaker in Sister Maude and Brothers . In Both Sister Maude and Brother a range of language devices are used in order to portray the different emotions and the varied relationships the poem focus on. Both poems use structural elements in order to portray a certain effect on the reader and to make them feel certain emotions just based on the way the poems are structured. In Sister Maude the enjambment between each of the lines emphasises the jealousy of Maude herself and the continuation of the jealousy she undergoes for her sisters lover. The Rhyme scheme could also symbolise the continuation of the poem as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However Brother has a much more simpler meaning towards the reader as it is the emotion felt by the younger brother as his older brother has left him while the younger brother went back to get some bus fare. The brother cowardly says to his younger brother you should go and ask mum for the bus fare as the brother does not want to confront him. The older brother thinks he is old enough and mature enough to take his younger brother out and be trusted; this turns out to be a complete juxtaposition to the reality and juxtaposition to the title as true brother are not ones that leave you for a joke . Guilt is a theme that occurs in both poems as the individual feels remorseful for what they ve done. In Sister Maude the guilt is quite an obvious one; the guilt of Maude killing her sisters lover out of jealousy. The hatred of Maude s sister is emphasised particularly in the last two stanzas and most effectively in the last line; Bide you with death and sin. Even at the end of the poem Maudes sister has not forgiven her and has no future plans of doing so due to the full stop appearance at the end. This really cuts off the poem and the relationship between Maude and her sister as a sister relationship is thought to be a loving and caring one which completely juxtaposes the entirety of the poem. The guilt in Brothers is an obvious one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If scientists who are using the same methods and tests on the same virus cannot come to the same conclusion, how could they be so unanimous in a more complicated subject like Bioidentical Hormones? As for the FDA s decision that the risks of Bioidenticals are the same as those for synthetic hormones, what are these opinions based on? Did the FDA test Bioidentical Hormones? Not that I m aware of. They assumed that Bioidenticals work the same as synthetic hormones, which we know might be in fact harmful. It s like assuming that a one dollar bill has the same value as a hundred dollar bill, because they re the same size. On the other hand, proponents of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy are saying that these hormones are safe and have almost no side effects. Two French studies published in 2008 suggest that Bioidenticals are safer than conventional HRT. According to Dr. Kent Holtorf s literature review bioidential hormones appears to be safer and more potent then synthetic therefore physicians may opt for biodenticals for now unless new data is available from new studies. ... As such, since access to information occurs mainly through digital means and media, the way information is arranged and presented on the screen is crucial. Because of this need for fast access and easy arrangement arose, in the early 1980s, companies started to work on various graphical user interfaces (or GUI for short). Most dictionaries define a GUI as a way of arranging information on a computer screen that is easy to understand and use because it uses icons, menus and a mouse rather than only text.
