Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley’s...
Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Horror and science fiction tend to present radically opposite interpretations of what may look like
comparable situations. (Kawin, 1981.) Bruce Kawin helps the reader to understand how a story in the
genre of science fiction could be adapted, or bastardized if you like, into a horror. This is similar to the
film adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein
(1935) portrayed characters and events differently than Shelley would have desired. Her novel had
many deeper implications than the movie portrayed.
James Whale and the many adapters/screenwriters involved in both films leeched onto the inhumanity

Pretorius, or upon facing the rejection of a bride created specially for him. Whale makes it clear that
nothing could love or care for this monster. The character of the monster is made to fit the horror
genre.
Part of the dehumanization of Frankenstein s monster is probably resultant of the loss of framing from
Shelley s novel. Bride of Frankenstein tries to establish framing through Shelley telling the story but
never concludes it. This unsuccessful frame adds only to the history surrounding Frankenstein. The
novel is framed through the letters of Walton. The reader then experiences Victor Frankenstein s
viewpoint followed by an insightful narrative from the monster in the middle of the novel. The
monster has learned English and has free, independent thought. He tells of his experiences after being
created by Victor Frankenstein, and relates his process of learning about his language, surroundings
and human emotion. This narrative provides a significant view of the psychology of human
development, relates the problems of creating life using technology, and substantiates the Monster s
actions. The science fiction genre is necessary to the story as it allows a connection to the monster and
to many of the deeper meanings of the story. When the story becomes a horror, a distance is created
between the audience and the monster that undermines the monster s very important contribution to
the story.

Using A Computer Generated Random Number Table
To prevent bias and confounding in treatment assignment, randomization was completed. 10 (5 men, 5
women) participants (see Table 1) were each evaluated in person at the Howard University Speech and
Hearing Clinic. Each of which provided written informed consent for participation. Through the use of
a computer generated random number table, each participant was assigned their method of treatment,
either via face to face or telepractice at another local university speech and hearing clinic. Each
participant was 18 years or older and had been previously diagnosed with Primary Muscle Tension
Dysphonia (PMTD) by an otolaryngologist. Participants who presented with head and neck cancer,
organic lesions, spasmodic dysphonia or other neurological disorders, oropharyngeal dysphagia,
respiratory disorders including asthma, or mild MTD were excluded from the study. Also, excluded,
were any participants who previously utilized pharmacological treatment or received other voice

Explain The Function Of The Lymphatic System
Question 1
1. Describe the function of the lymphatic system and explain how its structure enables it to carry out
its duties. Include what is lymph and how does it get into the lymphatic system, what happens to it
along the way (and what structures are involved) and what happens to it when the lymph system is
through with it...
The lymphatic system is composed of one way, low pressure vessels, with blind ended capillaries that
are remarkably permeable. The lymphatic endothelial capillary walls are anchored by collagen
filaments, and have overlapping, flap like mini valves that open when interstitial pressure is higher
than inside the lymphatic capillary. The valves allow entry to not only fluid, but to larger particles as
well; this includes proteins, pathogens, and cancer cells. The mini valves are forced shut when
pressure inside the capillaries is greater than the interstitial pressure. The vessels are equipped with
multiple valves (in the lumen) to prevent the backflow of lymph once it is milked towards the
subclavian duct, mainly by the squeezing action of the skeletal muscles, and the pressure from
respiratory inspiration.
The lymphatic system s role is to absorb fluid that is leaked from the blood capillaries and return it
back into the systemic circulation via the left and right subclavian ducts, ensuring adequate blood
volume. Additionally, it transports chyle, a fatty lymph absorbed in the small intestine through
lacteals, also returning it to systemic

Similarities Between Lady Of The Dog And The Lady With The...
Certain people are unfaithful and feel there is nothing wrong with cheating on your significant other.
One example of two unfaithful people is in the short story The Lady with the Pet Dog by Anton
Chekhov. In this story Anna Sergeyevna and Dmitri Gurov have an affair together. Another similar
example is in The Lady with the Pet Dog by Joyce Carol Oates. In her story Anna meets a man on the
beach and they have an affair together. Both stories contain affairs and how each person deals with the
situation. The two stories have different relationships between the husbands and wives, they both have
the theme of fate, and different female character traits. Anton Chekhov s story is better than Joyce
Carol Oates . Anton Chekhov s version of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anna uses him to get away from her past and have a better future. Chekhov s story is better because
the affair between Anna and Dmitri is more justified than the affair in Oates story. Both stories have
the theme of fate in them, and the characters use fate as a reason for their affairs. In Chekhov s story
Anna says, It s a good thing I am leaving, she said to Gurov. It s the hand of Fate (218 Chekhov).
Anna and Dmitri use fate as an excuse for their affair. They claim it is fate that brought them together
and now it is fate that will draw them apart. Then later on, the two believe, ...it seemed to them that
Fate itself had meant them for one another... (224 Chekhov). Both Anna and Dmitri believe fate is the
cause of their relationship. The two believe they are forced to be apart because of their arranged
marriages, but fate has brought them back together. Dmitri and Anna believe their relationship is in the
hands of fate. Then in Oates story, Anna uses Fate to justify why she shouldn t have an affair. She
thinks, This is fate, she thought, to be here and not there, to be one person and not another, a certain
man s wife and not the wife of another man (230 Oates). Anna feels guilty about having the affair, and
believes fate is the reason she must remain with her husband. She is convinced if fate had wanted her
to be with another man other than her husband, she would be with the other man. In the end, she
changes her mind and says, This man, whom

The Generation Of The United States
The Generation
1) Ellis sees the founding of the United States as phenomenal because the U.S. brought together
people of all different factions and beliefs in order to overthrow the reigning regime. He also believes
it is phenomenal because the United States was able to survive and become a nation that was brought
up upon an argument between state and federal sovereignty. In addition, to fight in the revolution and
win against Britain s best army and navy, the U.S. had to carve its own path with unprecedented steps.
Dues to the challenges the republic faced and overcame, the founding of the United States is truly
phenomenal in Ellis s eyes.
2) When Ellis writes about the need to see farsighted when looking at the founding of our country, ...

Those who saw nearsighted felt that America had no sense of national unity, and nothing to bring them
together except for the common wish to separate from Britain.
4) Combining the opposite perspectives that Ellis writes about on the founding of our country, the
central paradox of the revolutionary era is created. This paradox is that despite the massive advantages
America had provided by geographic isolation and bountiful natural resources, the points used to
justify the separation from England are the same reasons that overwhelmed the government leaders
who would oversee the new population and unify the 13 sovereign states.
5) Critics of the Constitutional Convention highlight many of the same faults in the convention. One
of these criticisms is that the convention was only to revise the Articles of Confederation not to
replace them. In addition, the meetings of the Convention were held in secrecy and the matters
discussed stayed private from majority of the average citizens. The reason behind this was because the
fifty five delegates were a group of elites that were hardly a good representation of the population as a
whole. Another criticism was that the southern delegates abused these meetings by using them to
obtain assurances that slavery would not be abolished in the south.
6) The first major liability of the United States was that no one had ever established a

Advocacy Competences of School Counselors
Advocacy is one of the major roles for professional school counselors. The concept of advocacy is the
tradition of professional counselors, but the role of advocacy in school counseling was not valued until
the recent times. The purpose of this paper is to give a reflection about the article on school counseling
in order to show and describe the advocacy competencies of school counselors. The article was written
by Jerry Trusty and Duane Brown. The article was set to provide a structure that helps to
conceptualize advocacy in order to develop advocacy competencies. School counselors have a key
role in advocating for academic success for each student in the school. The advocacy makes the
counselors have a leadership role in encouraging and promoting school reforms. The advocacy efforts
of school counselors aim to eliminate obstacles preventing the development of students and to create
chances for all students to learn. It also aims to ensure students have access to the school curriculum
that fits their needs. School counselors collaborate with other people within and outside the school to
assist students meet their learning needs. In addition, advocacy promotes positive and systematic
change in schools (Trusty Brown, 2005). The advocacy competencies according to Trusty and Brown
s article were designed from literature reviews, personal experiences as school counselors. They
categorized them into three groups, that is, counselor s dispositions, knowledge and skills.

The Police And Criminal Evidence Act
In this essay I will be describing some key legislation that has been put in place to protect citizens
rights within society.
Legal Rights
The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (1984)
The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) lays out the rights of suspects and the powers of the
police. The act is split up into 8 sections, together the act covers: stop and search, arrest, detention,
investigation, identification and interviewing detainees.
The fist section is code A; this states a police officer s powers to search a person or vehicle before
making an arrest, stating where and how this should be completed. If the police suspects that someone
has committed a crime they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The length of time in which a suspect is detained should be kept to a minimum, meaning the search
should be carried out quickly, also whilst trying to minimise embarrassment. An officer should treat
the person being searched, with respect, using their powers fairly and not showing discrimination.
The next section is code B; this covers the power to search premises, seize and retain items found on
premises and people. An officer might have a search warrant, issued by a justice of the peace, granting
powers of entry, search and seizure; this could be to search for stolen property, evidence of serious
crimes, drugs and weapons. The police also have the powers to search a property without a warrant in
order to make an arrest or after an arrest. However entry, search and seizure should be justified before
being carried out as the Human Rights Act 1998 state the right to privacy and respect for personal
property and there might be another way to meet the objectives of the search which aren t as intrusive.
The Powers to search and seize must be used respectfully, fairly and without unlawful discrimination.
This code links with code A, as if a person isn t arrested but is searched whilst conducting the search
of the property, it must be carried out following code A.

Essay on Cycles of Violence in The Battler
Cycles of Violence in The Battler
Ernest Hemingway s The Battler provides a continued account of Nick Adams dangerous and violent
life. Previous stories compiled in The Short Stories edition of Hemingway s work documents some of
the tribulations of Nick Adams, one of Hemingway s protagonists. Apparently, Nick has been plagued
by moments of sheer humility, terror, and immutable violence. In the Hemingway short story Indian
Camp, Nick is a young boy who witnesses a dreadfully difficult birth by a Native American woman,
enduring all the while the hubris of his surgeon father, who is contestibly insensitive to Nick s
innocence. Once the birth has ended, the husband of the woman is found with a freshly slit throat,

His state of affairs does not improve, however. Nick happens upon a camp of tow men, one of whom

d you get that shiner? (p. 130) Not a typical response, but Nick is about to learn he is not in a set of
typical circumstances. Ad Francis face is described queerly formed and mutilated...putty in color, with
a sunken nose, slitted eyes and with only one ear. (p. 131) Clearly, the implication is that Ad Francis
has seen some beatings in his day. This is confirmed by the man himself: They all bust their hands on
me...they couldn t hurt me. (p. 132) The extreme physical toll taken by Ad has affected him mentally.
Listen, he tells Nick, I m not quite right. (p. 132) Like Nick, Ad is a man who has encountered
violence and humiliation all of his life. Countless blows have found their mark on his now deformed
face. In a way, Ad is a physical representation of Nick s fortitude and perserverance, a fellow sufferer
whose pain has surfaced in a more tangible way, who takes immediate notice of things like black eyes.
Soon after Nick s introduction to Ad, another man approaches the fire. Nick is introduced to Bugs as
Ad s pal...he s crazy too. (p. 133) Physically, Bugs is a stark contrast to Ad s figure: tall, black, low
voiced and calm. Bugs begins to cook a dinner of ham and eggs over the campfire that the

Laimer V. Latimer Case Summary
FACTS:
In 1994 Mr. Latimer was found guilty of second degree murder of his daughter Tracy Latimer, a 12
year old girl who had a severe form of cerebral palsy. On a leave to appeal from the Superior Court of
Canada (SCC), Mr. Latimer s imposition of mandatory minimum sentence for second degree murder
constitutes cruel and unusual punishment in this case, so the accused should receive a constitutional
exemption from minimum sentences under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. During the
second trial, the defence counsel asked the trial judge for a ruling, in advance of his closing
submissions, on whether the jury could consider a defence of necessity. Whether the jury should have
been allowed to consider a defence of necessity. The trial judge told counsel that he would rule on
necessity after the closing submissions, and later ruled that the defence was not available. Whether the
timing of trial judge s ruling as to the availability of the defence rendered accused s trial unfair.

Shakespeare Cross Dressing
3) Throughout the semester, one thing that was noticeable throughout Shakespeare s plays was the
cross dressing of women. The cross dressing of women occurred in Cymbeline, The Two Gentleman
of Verona, and The Merchant of Venice. Shakespeare appeared to be ahead of his time in knowing
what we know now. Through showcasing women, successfully disguising as men Shakespeare proves
that gender is nothing more than a performance. During this era, women were not allowed to play
women parts in the Shakespeare plays. However, this did not stop Shakespeare from having women
parts in his plays. Having men perform feminine parts in the plays did not stop people from attending
the Shakespeare plays as well. What resonates in all three of these plays is that the women

Shakespeare proves through these actions that gender is nothing, but a performance. These men have
been men all their lives, but these women are better at being men than they are. Also, Shakespeare is
hinting back on the narrative that people are not always, what they appear to be. In Shakespeare, the
male characters take the women dressed up as men at face value. They never question the identity of
the women pretending to be men. Here Shakespeare is debunking the subservient role of the women in
society. All three of these women appear to be strong women who go after the things that they want.
He was well ahead of his time showcasing that gender is just a performance. Also, the male characters
in Shakespeare are always heavenly flawed, but the female characters appear to have little to no flaws.
Although he has the women, characters transform back into their subservient roles he delivers his
message. The viewing audience at the time probably was not ready for women of that stature yet.
However, he proves a point that gender is just a performance and no sex is better than the other

Phytonutrients (Lycopene)
Abstract
Phytonutrients are manufactured in pants where they are in turn utilized by humans to avoid various
health issues. The production of these chemicals is often prevalent among plants such as vegetables
and fruits. Phytonutrients may be classified into Terpenoids, Alkaloids and Phenolic depending on the
chemical structure, phytonutrients are categories into different classes which include; Resveratrol,
Epicatechin, Lycopene, and Lutein. Lycopene may be referred to as a bright red, fat soluble
phytonutrient that is often found in tomatoes and other fruits with red pigmentation. Lycopene is also
fundamental to the growth and development of plants as it plays an essential role in the biosynthesis of
various types of carotenoids. The chemical compound does this by interrupting any signals that are
likely to prolong or promote the generation of cancerous tumors. Lycopene can limit or slow down the
growth of prostate and breast cancer. This paper is aimed at highlighting the benefits of Lycopene to
both plants as well as humans in general.
Introduction
Also referred to as phytochemicals, phytonutrients include a range of chemicals, usually produced by
plants that are believed to have health benefits for both plant and animal species. Plants often utilize
these phytonutrients to promote their health in their growth and development. Some of the benefits
that plants are likely to derive from such chemicals include

Critical Analysis Of Eric Schlosser s Your Trusted Friends
Oftentimes, writers of argumentative essays will explicitly state their claim, establishing a position on
a topic in a clear and concise manner. In doing so, writers arguments are essentially more effective in
representing the chosen subject matter. In Your Trusted Friends , investigative journalist Eric
Schlosser writes that Walt Disney and Ray Kroc perfected the art of selling to children, however, this
writing is laced with numerous, hidden, implications. Schlosser s work subconsciously suggests that
companies like Disney and McDonald s prey on children in order to gain profit. This, therefore, makes
his argument weak overall, since instead of blatantly expressing his opinion, he leaves his audience to
guess about the overall purpose of the piece.
Throughout the writing, Schlosser provides historical and statistical information about both the
businessmen, Disney and Kroc, and their individual companies. In the third paragraph, he writes about
the shared experiences between the men, from growing up in the same hometown to serving in in the
same World War I ambulance corps (Schlosser 184). He then lists examples of how the men s failures
in their humble beginnings eventually led to success. Schlosser writes that the men, for example,
focused more on strengthening their marketing strategies and standing in as authority figures instead
of wasting time on attempts to add new dishes to the McDonald s menu or trying to write and animate
Disney cartoons (Schlosser 184). In

Group Voting Behavior Analysis
Group Voting Behavior The two major parties in the United States political system, Democratic and

of the American people s political ideology in society. Absolutely, every single person in the United
States have their own choices for those problems. Therefore, each party has its special groups that
support for their policies, and it also shows the people s expectation on each party. In race and

1 Peter Struggles
As we go through struggles and trials in our life, the theology of 1 Peter portrays the greatness of
going through these trials. One of the worst things that could ever happen to you is to be thrown into
exile, where you lose everything that you are familiar with and everything that you have ever known.
We see many people going through the hardest of struggles with being thrown into exile realize that
God is there and caring for them. God allows struggles in our life for us not to lose faith, but to
persevere through trials and become closer with him. 1 Peter shows us that we do not have to be
bummed when going through struggles in our life. The book of 1 Peter talks about God s children
being thrown into exile. This may be because of the people sinning. Being thrown into exile is one of
the worst things that could happen, because you become homeless and everything that you have
previously known about your life is going to change. I can t even fully grasp the depth of how difficult
going through an exile may be.
Going through an exile would make it really hard to be joyful, but what many people may not realize

a private housing community for those who are registered, as well as their loved ones. When
registering for the SHRA, superhumans will not be compelled into revealing

German Americans After Ww2
After the end of World War I many German Americans Living in the United States changed their way
of living. They would change the way they would speak, look and in some cases the way they would
act. This change started appearing not only at the end of the war, but also throughout World War I.
Some would go even as far as changing names to an American spelling while others would even
change the name of their business (Wüstenbecker, 2014).
German Society in the U.S.

would live their life in order to seem more patriotic, they would go even as far as changing their name,
stopping the use of their native language outside of home. They removed any trace of heritage and

Ralph Waldo Emerson s The Poet
What nature does and how nature works is not an interpretive science. There can only be one truth,
one right answer. In The Poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson claims that while the majority of the population
can sense the truth in nature, only poets can convert their into words without gross misinterpretation.
The truth lies where the air is music and poets are faithful listeners who are nearly fluent in the
language of truth. Emerson asserts that it is unjust to miswrite a poem, For nature is as truly beautiful
as it is good... and must as much appear. If there is only one right answer about the processes of
nature, then one religion, at most, could accurately interpret the world s creation and God s, or the
gods , intentions for nature and the human race. Either there s a heaven, a state of blissful nothingness,
a process of reincarnation, or maybe no religion to date has correctly guessed what happens to us after
death. William Blake discusses the significance of the similarities among people despite religions ...

Then he specifically claims that God is present in every heathen, turk or jew. As members of the

Moreover, his inclusion of heathens demonstrates his love for all people, Christian or pagan. Through
his use of the words our and all Blake makes it clear that, in his eyes, God loves every man woman
and child. Finally, Blake employs an imperfect rhyme scheme, rhyming only two lines in each
quatrain. The poem would not be as powerful if Blake had forced a rhyme. This poem, like nature, is
beautiful despite its imperfections, which can thus be extended to humans. Blake s direct
interpretation of nature s truth is that people are not perfect, but God still loves and is a part of every

Brothers Grimm s Cinderella, By The Brothers Grimm
Brothers Grimm s fairy tale Cinderella is a story of a young girl s life under her harsh stepmother. The
young girl s mother passes away, and her rich father remarries a woman with two daughters. They
mistreat the young girl so much that she always looked so dusty and dirty that people called her
Cinderella (Grimm 117). One day, the father gets his daughters what they want: beautiful dresses,
pearls and jewels for his stepdaughters, and a branch from the hazel tree for Cinderella. Cinderella
plants the hazel spring on her mother s grave, where it grows into a beautiful tree after her tears fall on
it. A little white bird would fly to it and toss the girl what she wanted. One day a festival is announced,

While Shavit s argument about learning a lesson is true, the lesson Shavit offers is complicated by
close reading of the tale. Instead of adult reliance and obedience being fully celebrated, there are times
in the story where it is punished, and other times wherein independence is celebrated. After all,
Cinderella is able to achieve her happy ending because she chooses when and who she listens to. She
listens to her mother and up until a certain point, to her stepmother. She does not blindly rely on adult
figures, and is independent enough to pursue what she wants, bringing up the notion of independence
being allowed as long as there is desire. In contrast, her stepsisters blindly follow their mother, going
as fall as mutilating themselves, yet only receive further punishment as their eyes are pecked out. This
then depicts the relationship between adult and child in Cinderella : although reliance and obedience is
important, a child must not blindly follow adult figures and should learn to be independent when to do
either, on the other hand, is something not clearly defined in the tale. The relationship between adult
and child is not so clear cut, as the notions of good, evil and desire complicate how a child should act.
The ambiguity between when to obey and rely on adults, and when to make your own choices
indicates that at times, the child has to make complex decisions. This is important to consider as it
paints how child readers view their own relationships with adults, possibly even empowering them as
it reveals that the child does not simply have to obey, but is allowed to have a choice in that

Respiratory Chains
All living cells that are able to divide and receive the parental genetic material, are depending on
permanent delivery of energy which is stored in reusable forms. Being separated from the outside
environment, within this cells, endo and exothermal reactions are present, allowing them to provide
their own vital processes and to synthetize their own components (Lodish et al., 2000). Photosynthesis
and respiration, the most important energetic processes occurring in the cellular membranes, are
transforming one form of energy into another. Photosystems are able to transform the energy of
photons into chemical energy which is stored in molecules like ATP or NADPH. Furthermore, the
chemical energy of reduced compounds by oxidation processes is transformed, by the respiratory
chains, also into molecules like ATP (Lodish et al., 2000, Hohmann Marriott et al., 2011). ... Show

The direction of electrons through the respiratory chain is driven by the redox potential of each of the
elements the measure of affinity to electrons which moves from the negative redox potential to the
positive redox potential (Lenaz et al., 2010). Respiratory chains are mainly composed of large multi
subunit protein complexes containing several cofactors. The biogenesis of respiratory chain is a highly
ordered and sophisticated process. This process includes: translation, protein insertion into the
membrane cofactor insertion and the assembly of the subunits into multi subunit protein complexes.
Any defect in one of this steps can terminate the biogenesis and can result in severe impairments of
respiratory chains, which is why these processes are very important for all living organisms (Diaz et

Introduction
File systems is a method of sorting data structure in the operating systems and means to keep track of
the virtual data in the operating systems without a file system information stored would be a large
body of data with no way of knowing where a piece of data is stored begins and ends. File systems is
also referred to as partition or disk which is uses files or the type the file systems. A file system on a
disk or partition is a way to organize, navigate, hierarchical data can be accessed, stored and retrieved
in a form of folders or files. When files system is referred to as a partition it means that the hierarchy
of directories also known as the directory tree. It is used to organize files on a computer system, the
hierarchy of directories is locked on a single partition or disk it can also be spread over multiple disks
even disks on a different computer at a different location.
When a file system is referred to as type of file system it is the way the stored data are organized on
computer disk for example a file or folder that is that is stored on a hard disk or a partition on the hard
disk. It is generally a piece of code in the kernel module which maintenance the logical data structures

Person Centred Care
According to Bob Price, a nurse academic writing for the Nursing Standard in
2006, the term person centred care is used...to indicate a strong interest in the
patient s own experience of health, illness, injury or need. It infers that the nurse
works with the person s definition of the situation, as well as that presented through a
medical or other diagnosis . (pg. 49 56)
The notion of person centeredness has become well recognized within healthcare
and especially within Nursing (Binnie Tichen 1999, McCormack 2001,2003).
Person Centeredness is also ingrained in many policy initiatives within the UK (eg.
The National Service Framework for Older People, Department of Health 2001).

However it is suggested that
nurse patient communication is slightly different; nurse patient communication also
involves the transfer of feelings, recognizing these feelings and letting the patient
know that their feelings have be recognized (Sheppard 1993).
Communication both verbal and non verbal can have an effect on clients and the
relationship which they form with their nurse. Communication can either facilitate
the development of a relationship or create barriers (Stuart and Laraia, 2001). There
are many different forms of communication which nurses can use to help implement
person centred care such as verbal communication, non verbal communication,
attending behaviour and empathetic behaviour; Within this essay I will explore some
of these methods of communication, the effect they will have on a patient and person
centred care and ways in which a nurse could implement these methods in a clinical
setting.
Verbal communication is essential when dealing with a patient; studies revealed
that many patients feel reassured when nurses use a personal approach whilst
communicating and also feel that it is important for nurses to talk to patients as
individuals. In order to promote care which is person centred nurses must also
refrain from making any assumptions about the patients care or needs (McCabe

Free Trade Is The Policy Of Unrestricted Purchasing And...
Free trade is the policy of unrestricted purchasing and selling of goods between nations without the
imposition of barriers, such as tariffs and quotas. For example, if an American company wanted to
import a good to Canada, they would be able to do so free of import taxes. This is as a result of
NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, which allows free trade between Canada, the
United States, and Mexico. This is done in order to promote international trade between the different
zones. The theory of free trade is that, without the increase in transport cost that comes from tariffs,
imported goods are less expensive. This means, for a country such as the United States of America,
that consumer prices should drop while exports should increase, since the price to export has lessened
considerably. The most common counter to this idea, however, is the fact that there are some nations,
such as China, that lack the worker protections that are in place in the United States. This means that
manufacturing costs are far cheaper in some foreign nations. As a result, American workers, being
unable to compete with the low wages being paid to workers in other countries, are forced into
unemployment by outsourcing. This, in theory, leads to a weakened middle class whose purchasing
power is severely diminished. This has come to the forefront of recent politics, given the positions of
various presidential candidates on this important issue. Some, such as Bernie Sanders and Donald

Abstract
Writing has always been regarded as playing a prominent role in learning a second language. The
purpose of this research was to investigate the difficulties and challenges facing students in writing
and spelling, the factors causing these difficulties and how to overcome these challenges.
A total of 30 female students from three different female secondary schools in the Al Kharj city
participated in the study, and 6 teachers teaching the English language for secondary levels with
different teaching experiences. Questionnaires were used to gather information from the participants.
The overall results demonstrated the students negative views towards writing. The findings revealed
that students have problems in writing, especially in language use (grammar). The major findings
demonstrated students awareness of the importance of writing and their needs to develop the skill of
writing. The study suggests some practical methods in order to cope with writing difficulties.

Chinese and Japanese economies both make up large areas of the worlds economy; however, there are
many differences in these countries with respect to economic development and current economic state.
Analysis of Japans and Chinas economic development requires the observation of historical

economies holds many similarities and differences. Both Japan and China experienced growth in the
1400 s, driving for a more advanced societies, with improved economic policies. However, in Japan

Conversely, Japan s economic growth was not significant in the early 1900 s, due to their push

Chaucer s Parody To Courtly Love Essay example
Chaucer s Parody To Courtly Love
After the Knight tells his story, the Miller insists very rudely to tell his tale. Chaucer uses the aspect of
courtly love which is found in the Knights tale and makes a parody of it; He uses the Miller?s
character to mock the Knights idea of courtly love.
Miller describes the heroine of his story Alison, as a wife of an older man and also an infidel. She?s
compared to a ?wezele? sly and cunning. The description of Alison clearly indicates that she is very
different from an innocent girl from courtly love stories instead she?s well aware of her husbands
jealousy and wears elaborate cloths to show off her beauty.

Miller firstly describes Nicholas as a young scholar who stays as a paying guest with the carpenter,
?And al above ther lay a gay sautrie,?he mad a nightes melodie?
Nicholas is described to have a decorated room, he is a lively man and depends on his friends as he
cant afford to pay all of his rent.
Chaucer continuously uses the word ?hende? when ever he refers to
Nicholas this word would usually mean gentle but as we see that
Nicholas is not described to be courteous or gracious the word is ironically used to suggest that he is
sly and opportunist. Again there is no sign of a hero from courtly love romances.
Nicholas openly expresses his lust to Alison ?love me al atones, or I wol dyen?. Again reflecting back
to the Knights tale in which the lovers stay calm and modestly await the time till when they can get
their love. But here Miller completely mocks that idea of the Knight and so makes a parody out of it.
Alison who at first refuses to kiss
Nicholas then within seconds agrees to sleeping with him, Nicholas very easily persuades Alison ?
spak so faire, and profred him so faste,? Chaucer shows how the miller parody?s this with the courtly
love tale of the Knight as Emily in the Knights tale is extremely innocent about matters of love.
The second lover that the Miller introduces is Absolon who is suppose to be a parish clerk but has
extraordinary talents. He takes more care of his appearance

to their advantage other attractive entertainment started being built in that section, like The Casino

attracted everyone to go out of Manhattan. Throughout the years they have managed to build 39
official Broadway Theatres. They also offer Off Broadway shows which are shows that take place in

The World Is Changing And The Environment

The world is changing and the environment we are living in is becoming very competitive by the day.
Considering the work environment of this changing world, both the employees and employers at the
workplace are facing a lot of risk issues, regarding this rapid change in the economy and society
followed by the overpowering competition. In order to sustain in the business market and meet the
consumer demands, the organizations and the employers are required to come up with new methods
and unbeatable prices of products. Moreover due to the emergence of globalisation, these
organizations are bound to apply cost cutting approach (lower wage approach), which influences the
shifts in workforce composition, labour utilization and labour demand. (Rani, 2000) This shift leads to
what can be defined as labour flexibility . According to Standing (1999), the term can be defined as a
rise in new technologies, development of more complex labour control structures, participation of
labours throughout the world with the help of globalisation.
The more complex definitions and theories of labour flexibility will be discussed later in this essay. I

management and how globalization plays a vital role in the emergence of the former two concepts. In

As described it was the movement of 2 million African American out of the Southern United States to
the Midwest, Northeast, and West from 1910 to 1930. They migrated to escape racism and seek
employment opportunities in industrial cities.
When the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863 less than eight percent of the African
American population lived in the northeastern or Midwestern U.S. As described, Between 1910 and
1930, the African American population grew by about 40% in Northern states, mostly in the major
cities. Cities such as Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Cleveland had some of the biggest increases in
the early part of the century. Because changes were concentrated in cities, urban tensions rose as
African Americans and new or recent European immigrants, both groups chiefly from rural societies,
competed for jobs and housing with the white ethnic working class. Tensions were often most severe
between ethnic Irish, defending their positions, and recent immigrants and blacks.
African Americans moved as individuals or small family groups. There was no government assistance,
but often northern industries, such as the railroads, meatpacking and stockyards, recruited people. The
primary factor for migration was the racial climate and widespread violence of lynching in the South.
In the North, they could find better schools and adult men could vote (joined by women after 1920).

Jean Jacques Rousseau Research Paper
Jean Jacques Rousseau and Karl Marx were both well renowned philosophers who have contributed
vastly to society through their works, their philosophical thinking, and their revolutionary like mind

critical towards the contemporary society. The contemporary society or one could say the modern
society, in existence to the time being and the social features it connects thorough, contains human
interconnection, evolution of ways of life, and anthropological and ecological transformation. Both

Rousseau believed that man was born good, but it is society that corrupts him. In a state of nature,
there is no war, people are isolated, desires are minimal, and people lived for themselves. It is when
people are hurled into society where the corruption begins. For Rousseau, he saw that society s
negative influence of men centers on the transformation of self love, which we wish to preserve, that
when combined with reason creates a fear that allows men to take pleasure in the pain and weakness
of others. Evil, greed, and selfishness emerges as human society begans to develop. And as society
grows stronger, these ailments grow stronger with. In Discourse on the Arts and Sciences, Rousseau
states that the arts and sciences had not been beneficial to man kind because they are not human needs,
but rather the result of pride and vanity. And these technological opportunities lead to further
corruption and in a way makes the government more powerful at the expense of freedom. Also, due to
advances in science and technology the people who had a talent in this field grew with and those who
did not have that talent were left behind, thus causing inequality. And with all of this came
dependency. Those who have talent to create them were dependent by those who bought and sold

A Communicative Approach to Language Teaching
Communicative Approach to Language Teaching
Objective
The objective of this study is to examine the general context of the communicative approach in
language teaching and describe the key features of a communicatively innovative approach with a
focus on form and to describe in detail four central elements of an innovative and progressive
approach to second language teaching. This work will additionally discuss the challenges found in
relation to the application of these two elements.
Introduction
The work of Ellis (2000) reports, that Second Language Acquisition (SLA) ...is a sub discipline of
linguistics , stated to be a very young field of study. According to Ellis it is agreed upon by many
researchers in the field that ...the late sixties marked the onset of an intense period of empirical and
theoretical interest in how second languages are acquired. (2000) The work of O Laoire (nd) reports
that in recent years there has been a great deal of focus on learning the Irish language within the
context of immersion bilingual programs and that these type studies have emphasized the value added
cognitive dimension of studying Irish within an immersion education context with findings that are
consonant with bilingual programs elsewhere. (nd, p.1) However, it is reported as well that a serious
challenge is present for the learner of Irish due to ...the distribution of Irish speaking networks. (O

Mixed Measurement Approach
As such, many companies, like Woolsworths, prefer to use a mixed measurement approach as there is
flexibility to use more than a single measurement approach for different situations. Considering the
different informational needs of report users, certain measurements may not be suitable to present
information in a useful way (Dvořáková, 2009). For example, when there is a need for Woolsworth to
predict the cash flows of an operation in a going concern business, cost accounting or historical costs
measurement would be most appropriate, since cash flows should not deviate that much from previous
years. However, when attempting to value prospective investments, fair value measurement would be
more appropriate because it is based on current prices, and is therefore more accurate, which will help
us make an informed decision on the future prospects of the investment.
Having said that, a mixed measurement approach presents its own set of problems. Firstly, it can lead
to an additivity problem where there is an aggregation of data that is measured by different
approaches. Also, it undermines the comparability of financial

Analysis Of Edwin Robinson s Poem, Richard Cory
Authors often use fictional stories to explain situations in the real world. As a result, citizens are able
to better understand the problems of society, and they are more likely to fix them. This is evident in
Edwin Robinson s poem, Richard Cory. Due to the author s use of literary devices and details in this
piece of literature, he portrays Richard Cory as a successful man. By the end of the poem, he becomes
depressed and commits suicide. This expresses the idea that looks, money, and intelligence might
seem to create happiness, but these things do not always allow individuals to enjoy life.
Initially, Robinson uses literary elements and descriptions to portray Richard Cory as a perfect
individual. For instance, the author describes the main character as richer than a king (Robinson 9).
Due to the low probability of an upper class American obtaining as much wealth as the ruler of an
entire country, this statement can be considered a hyperbole. Although this is not a true statement, it
aids readers in understanding the immense wealth that Cory has developed throughout his life. In
addition to wealth, Robinson uses various allusions and descriptions to explain Cory s physique. The
main character is said to be not only clean favored and imperially slim, but also a gentleman from sole
to crown (Robinson 3). This indicates that he is not only handsome, but also well respected. Lastly, the
author describes Cory s personality through examples of dialogue. For instance,

Child Sexual Abuse (ASA)
Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and Adolescent Sexual Abuse (ASA) basically encompasses the
involvement of a child in sexual behaviors or activities that the child is neither physically nor mentally
prepared to initiate or to get involved into. It includes all the cases of victims who lack the capacity to
consent, as well as the legal standards specific to each country. Of the different forms of child abuse,
CSA and ASA is linked to severe injury. Numerous empirical studies have established a relationship
among CSA, ASA and psychological injuries such as Major Depressive Disorder, Dysthymia,
Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Phobic Disorders, which may become manifest in the short term or
become chronic. In order to assess the effects of child and adolescent ... Show more content on

This meta analysis necessitates, certain limitations that should be fetched in our conscience when
elucidating the data. The ground truth of the primary studies for the classification of abuse generally
rests on self reports of a retrospective nature, that relies on individual memory capabilities, and are
related to false positives or false alarms. Victims self reports of sexual abuse may bias the results
towards concealing them (false negatives), in particular for males. Primary studies assume that injury
to mental health is ramifying to abuse, without gauging other possible causes (cause effect
relationship). The effect of the variables under analysis in primary studies was not completely isolated
as in many studies victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, and other categories appear under
the same umbrella. And as some studies had no control group, the normative population was taken as
the contrast group, or it was not equivalent to the experimental one with the subsequent potential for
distortion in the calculated effect sizes. Alternatively, the results of the meta analysis were subject to
little variability, that is, Ns 400 and a large k were highly generalizable (entirely for the female
population, and for males with the exception of the diagnosis of a disorder and the general measure of
anxiety for the male population), whereas 93 studies with no significant results would be required to
annul the evidence supporting the claim that CSA and ASA leads to mental health injuries. Further
research is required to determine which moderators inhibit the generalization of the effects in the
general measure of anxiety in the male population and in the diagnosis of depression and

Gambling Addiction
Introduction Gambling can stimulate the brain s reward system much like drugs or alcohol can,
leading to addiction (Compulsive, 2016). That is when gambling goes from a fun, harmless pastime to
an unhealthy obsession with serious consequences. Whether you bet on horses, buy lottery tickets,
play poker, or pull the arm on the One Armed Bandits in a casino, at the track, or online if your
gambling becomes a problem, it can strain your relationships, interfere with work, and lead to
financial disaster. It can cause you to do things you never thought you would do like stealing money,
not paying your bills, and pawning everything you own to get more money. All so you can keep
gambling or pay your debts. Gambling addiction also called Compulsive gambling is the
uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on your life. Gambling means that you re
willing to risk something you value in the hope of getting something of even greater value
(Compulsive, 2016).
Individual Impact
When a person is a compulsive gambler or an addict, the effects are devastating. Many addicts will
use credit cards , loans, or even tap our their retirement fund to pay for their addiction. The result
places them in debt to the point of losing homes, jobs, vehicles, and even filing bankruptcy. If they
become to attached to the gambling they can forget to care for themselves causing poor physical and
emotional health. It can also cause additional addictions to drugs, smoking, or alcohol

Comparing Storm And The Story Of An Hour
Imagine reading a short story so weird, so filled with horror and eeriness, that the short story becomes
a little too creepy, so much that a reader might have to reread a sentence to make sure they read it
correctly. Did that character really just die? Is that animal really that scary? Is that house interacting
with the characters? A lot of times, nineteenth century author, Kate Chopin does just that to his
readers. Chopin uses many different elements of a short story to give his readers an idea of themes
such as death, and obsession. She illustrates this in two of his short stories, The Storm and The Story
of an Hour. Chopin uses symbols such as the tempest in The storm to emphasize his theme of
obsession; She similarly does this in her story The Story of an hour, by using symbols such as the Heat
Trouble and the open window, to emphasize his theme of mortality. ... Show more content on

There is situational irony in the way that we expect that such a tempestuous (no pun intended) session
of lovemaking, which is presented very explicitly but also in a way that suggests that Calixta and
Alcee are somehow meant for each other actually benefits their respective marriages. Note how their
union is presented:
Her firm, elastic flesh that was knowing for the first time its birthright, was like a creamy lily that the
sun invites to contribute its breath and perfume to the undying life of the world. Phrases such as
Calixta knowing her birthright whilst having extra marital sex with Alcee suggest that she will be
unable to return to her husband after this. However, after the storm of passion that has been unleashed,
the air appears to have been cleared, and both Calixta and Alcee are shown to return even happier than
before to their respective

Tarrega The Black Death Analysis
In the text The Black Death and its Consequences for the Jewish Community in Tarrega, the authors
note that the discovery of communal burial sites in Tarrega (ca. 2007) now provides archeological
evidence for the documentary records of the mass murder of Jews in July, 1348. Long before the
discovery of the six communal grave sites, testimonies such as that of Hayyim Galipapa (1310 1380)
have provided textual records for the mass killing of Jews during the spread of the plague. The authors
argue that a consequence of the plague epidemic was the increase attacks on social minorities, Jews in
particular stood out as a powerful minority group which many of these attacks focused around. As
such, the Jewish community suffered disproportionately

Analysis Of The Nike Air Force 1s From The MOMA
According to Oxford dictionary, art is defined as the expression or application of human creative skill
and imagination, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
Every item of clothing ever made had to have gone through a brainstorming, designing, or drafting
process that requires creativity and imagination. Although not all items of clothing are appreciated
primarily for their beauty or emotional power, the way one styles clothing can evoke emotion. People
have been using the clothes they wear and how they style their clothing to express their individuality,
personal mood, personality, and/or emotions. The Nike Air Force 1s from the MOMA exhibit are a

  • 2. Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley’s... Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Horror and science fiction tend to present radically opposite interpretations of what may look like comparable situations. (Kawin, 1981.) Bruce Kawin helps the reader to understand how a story in the genre of science fiction could be adapted, or bastardized if you like, into a horror. This is similar to the film adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) portrayed characters and events differently than Shelley would have desired. Her novel had many deeper implications than the movie portrayed. James Whale and the many adapters/screenwriters involved in both films leeched onto the inhumanity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pretorius, or upon facing the rejection of a bride created specially for him. Whale makes it clear that nothing could love or care for this monster. The character of the monster is made to fit the horror genre. Part of the dehumanization of Frankenstein s monster is probably resultant of the loss of framing from Shelley s novel. Bride of Frankenstein tries to establish framing through Shelley telling the story but never concludes it. This unsuccessful frame adds only to the history surrounding Frankenstein. The novel is framed through the letters of Walton. The reader then experiences Victor Frankenstein s viewpoint followed by an insightful narrative from the monster in the middle of the novel. The monster has learned English and has free, independent thought. He tells of his experiences after being created by Victor Frankenstein, and relates his process of learning about his language, surroundings and human emotion. This narrative provides a significant view of the psychology of human development, relates the problems of creating life using technology, and substantiates the Monster s actions. The science fiction genre is necessary to the story as it allows a connection to the monster and to many of the deeper meanings of the story. When the story becomes a horror, a distance is created between the audience and the monster that undermines the monster s very important contribution to the story. Although other aspects ... Each of which provided written informed consent for participation. Through the use of a computer generated random number table, each participant was assigned their method of treatment, either via face to face or telepractice at another local university speech and hearing clinic. • 4. Explain The Function Of The Lymphatic System Question 1 1. Describe the function of the lymphatic system and explain how its structure enables it to carry out its duties. Include what is lymph and how does it get into the lymphatic system, what happens to it along the way (and what structures are involved) and what happens to it when the lymph system is through with it... The lymphatic system is composed of one way, low pressure vessels, with blind ended capillaries that are remarkably permeable. The lymphatic endothelial capillary walls are anchored by collagen filaments, and have overlapping, flap like mini valves that open when interstitial pressure is higher than inside the lymphatic capillary. The valves allow entry to not only fluid, but to larger particles as well; this includes proteins, pathogens, and cancer cells. The mini valves are forced shut when pressure inside the capillaries is greater than the interstitial pressure. The vessels are equipped with multiple valves (in the lumen) to prevent the backflow of lymph once it is milked towards the subclavian duct, mainly by the squeezing action of the skeletal muscles, and the pressure from respiratory inspiration. The lymphatic system s role is to absorb fluid that is leaked from the blood capillaries and return it back into the systemic circulation via the left and right subclavian ducts, ensuring adequate blood volume. Additionally, it transports chyle, a fatty lymph absorbed in the small intestine through lacteals, also returning it to systemic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of two unfaithful people is in the short story The Lady with the Pet Dog by Anton Chekhov. In this story Anna Sergeyevna and Dmitri Gurov have an affair together. Another similar example is in The Lady with the Pet Dog by Joyce Carol Oates. In her story Anna meets a man on the beach and they have an affair together. Chekhov s story is better because the affair between Anna and Dmitri is more justified than the affair in Oates story. Both stories have the theme of fate in them, and the characters use fate as a reason for their affairs. In Chekhov s story Anna says, It s a good thing I am leaving, she said to Gurov. It s the hand of Fate (218 Chekhov). Anna and Dmitri use fate as an excuse for their affair. They claim it is fate that brought them together and now it is fate that will draw them apart. Then later on, the two believe, ...it seemed to them that Fate itself had meant them for one another... (224 Chekhov). Both Anna and Dmitri believe fate is the cause of their relationship. The two believe they are forced to be apart because of their arranged marriages, but fate has brought them back together. Dmitri and Anna believe their relationship is in the hands of fate. Then in Oates story, Anna uses Fate to justify why she shouldn t have an affair. She thinks, This is fate, she thought, to be here and not there, to be one person and not another, a certain man s wife and not the wife of another man (230 Oates). Anna feels guilty about having the affair, and believes fate is the reason she must remain with her husband. The Generation Of The United States The Generation 1) Ellis sees the founding of the United States as phenomenal because the U.S. brought together people of all different factions and beliefs in order to overthrow the reigning regime. In addition, to fight in the revolution and win against Britain s best army and navy, the U.S. had to carve its own path with unprecedented steps. This paradox is that despite the massive advantages America had provided by geographic isolation and bountiful natural resources, the points used to justify the separation from England are the same reasons that overwhelmed the government leaders who would oversee the new population and unify the 13 sovereign states. 5) Critics of the Constitutional Convention highlight many of the same faults in the convention. One of these criticisms is that the convention was only to revise the Articles of Confederation not to replace them. In addition, the meetings of the Convention were held in secrecy and the matters discussed stayed private from majority of the average citizens. The reason behind this was because the fifty five delegates were a group of elites that were hardly a good representation of the population as a whole. Another criticism was that the southern delegates abused these meetings by using them to obtain assurances that slavery would not be abolished in the south. 6) The first major liability of the United States was that no one had ever established a ... The advocacy makes the counselors have a leadership role in encouraging and promoting school reforms. The advocacy efforts of school counselors aim to eliminate obstacles preventing the development of students and to create chances for all students to learn. It also aims to ensure students have access to the school curriculum that fits their needs. School counselors collaborate with other people within and outside the school to assist students meet their learning needs. In addition, advocacy promotes positive and systematic change in schools (Trusty Brown, 2005). An officer might have a search warrant, issued by a justice of the peace, granting powers of entry, search and seizure; this could be to search for stolen property, evidence of serious crimes, drugs and weapons. The police also have the powers to search a property without a warrant in order to make an arrest or after an arrest. Critical Analysis Of Eric Schlosser s Your Trusted Friends Oftentimes, writers of argumentative essays will explicitly state their claim, establishing a position on a topic in a clear and concise manner. In doing so, writers arguments are essentially more effective in representing the chosen subject matter. In Your Trusted Friends , investigative journalist Eric Schlosser writes that Walt Disney and Ray Kroc perfected the art of selling to children, however, this writing is laced with numerous, hidden, implications. Schlosser s work subconsciously suggests that companies like Disney and McDonald s prey on children in order to gain profit. This, therefore, makes his argument weak overall, since instead of blatantly expressing his opinion, he leaves his audience to guess about the overall purpose of the piece. Throughout the writing, Schlosser provides historical and statistical information about both the businessmen, Disney and Kroc, and their individual companies. In the third paragraph, he writes about the shared experiences between the men, from growing up in the same hometown to serving in in the same World War I ambulance corps (Schlosser 184). He then lists examples of how the men s failures in their humble beginnings eventually led to success. While Shavit s argument about learning a lesson is true, the lesson Shavit offers is complicated by close reading of the tale. Instead of adult reliance and obedience being fully celebrated, there are times in the story where it is punished, and other times wherein independence is celebrated. After all, Cinderella is able to achieve her happy ending because she chooses when and who she listens to. She listens to her mother and up until a certain point, to her stepmother. She does not blindly rely on adult figures, and is independent enough to pursue what she wants, bringing up the notion of independence being allowed as long as there is desire. In contrast, her stepsisters blindly follow their mother, going as fall as mutilating themselves, yet only receive further punishment as their eyes are pecked out. This then depicts the relationship between adult and child in Cinderella : although reliance and obedience is important, a child must not blindly follow adult figures and should learn to be independent when to do either, on the other hand, is something not clearly defined in the tale. The relationship between adult and child is not so clear cut, as the notions of good, evil and desire complicate how a child should act. The ambiguity between when to obey and rely on adults, and when to make your own choices indicates that at times, the child has to make complex decisions. Person Centred Care According to Bob Price, a nurse academic writing for the Nursing Standard in 2006, the term person centred care is used...to indicate a strong interest in the patient s own experience of health, illness, injury or need. It infers that the nurse works with the person s definition of the situation, as well as that presented through a medical or other diagnosis . (pg. 49 56) The notion of person centeredness has become well recognized within healthcare and especially within Nursing (Binnie Tichen 1999, McCormack 2001,2003). Communication can either facilitate the development of a relationship or create barriers (Stuart and Laraia, 2001). • 29. Free Trade Is The Policy Of Unrestricted Purchasing And... Free trade is the policy of unrestricted purchasing and selling of goods between nations without the imposition of barriers, such as tariffs and quotas. For example, if an American company wanted to import a good to Canada, they would be able to do so free of import taxes. This is as a result of NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, which allows free trade between Canada, the United States, and Mexico. This is done in order to promote international trade between the different zones. The theory of free trade is that, without the increase in transport cost that comes from tariffs, imported goods are less expensive. This means, for a country such as the United States of America, that consumer prices should drop while exports should increase, since the price to export has lessened considerably. The most common counter to this idea, however, is the fact that there are some nations, such as China, that lack the worker protections that are in place in the United States. This means that manufacturing costs are far cheaper in some foreign nations. As a result, American workers, being unable to compete with the low wages being paid to workers in other countries, are forced into unemployment by outsourcing. This, in theory, leads to a weakened middle class whose purchasing power is severely diminished. This has come to the forefront of recent politics, given the positions of various presidential candidates on this important issue. Some, such as Bernie Sanders and Donald ... Miller describes the heroine of his story Alison, as a wife of an older man and also an infidel. She?s compared to a ?wezele? sly and cunning. The description of Alison clearly indicates that she is very different from an innocent girl from courtly love stories instead she?s well aware of her husbands jealousy and wears elaborate cloths to show off her beauty. ?Of col blak silk, withinne and eek withoute? Chaucer continuously uses the word ?hende? when ever he refers to Nicholas this word would usually mean gentle but as we see that Nicholas is not described to be courteous or gracious the word is ironically used to suggest that he is sly and opportunist. Again there is no sign of a hero from courtly love romances. Nicholas openly expresses his lust to Alison ?love me al atones, or I wol dyen?. Again reflecting back to the Knights tale in which the lovers stay calm and modestly await the time till when they can get their love. Alison who at first refuses to kiss Nicholas then within seconds agrees to sleeping with him, Nicholas very easily persuades Alison ? spak so faire, and profred him so faste,? Chaucer shows how the miller parody?s this with the courtly love tale of the Knight as Emily in the Knights tale is extremely innocent about matters of love. As a result, citizens are able to better understand the problems of society, and they are more likely to fix them. This is evident in Edwin Robinson s poem, Richard Cory. Due to the author s use of literary devices and details in this piece of literature, he portrays Richard Cory as a successful man. By the end of the poem, he becomes depressed and commits suicide. This expresses the idea that looks, money, and intelligence might seem to create happiness, but these things do not always allow individuals to enjoy life. Initially, Robinson uses literary elements and descriptions to portray Richard Cory as a perfect individual. For instance, the author describes the main character as richer than a king (Robinson 9). Due to the low probability of an upper class American obtaining as much wealth as the ruler of an entire country, this statement can be considered a hyperbole. Although this is not a true statement, it aids readers in understanding the immense wealth that Cory has developed throughout his life. In addition to wealth, Robinson uses various allusions and descriptions to explain Cory s physique. The main character is said to be not only clean favored and imperially slim, but also a gentleman from sole to crown (Robinson 3). This indicates that he is not only handsome, but also well respected. Lastly, the author describes Cory s personality through examples of dialogue. For instance, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Victims self reports of sexual abuse may bias the results towards concealing them (false negatives), in particular for males. Primary studies assume that injury to mental health is ramifying to abuse, without gauging other possible causes (cause effect relationship). The effect of the variables under analysis in primary studies was not completely isolated as in many studies victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, and other categories appear under the same umbrella.
