The Changing Role Of Flappers In The 1920 s
The 1920s, out with the old and in with the new. The Roaring Twenties was the decade of change and
prosperity where women wanted to be acknowledged for how they looked and dressed. Young women
also became more independent. This is how the famous term of a flapper came to be. Flappers are
young women and teenagers who dressed and acted differently with controversial behavior.
Flappers brought a dramatic change to society that made women realize how they should be treated. In
the past, women had to be submissive all the time and not voice their opinions. Back in the early
centuries, women were involved in domestic violence and their husbands and boyfriends would
control how they looked and acted. After World War I, many young men who fought did not return
home. This left women to explore the world and try new things. They realized that life was too short
to do anything but have fun. (The Rise of the Flapper). The 1920s was finally the breakthrough of
change women had been waiting for for centuries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality
to men, increased dramatically. They want to be treated equally as men are. Bruce Blivens, an
observer of flappers from the 1920s, stated, Women have highly resolved that they are just as good as
men, and intend to be treated so...they don t intend to be debarred from any profession or occupation
which they choose to enter (The Flapper, Feminism and Flappers). This statement means that women
want to be treated as good as men without the boundaries of gender

Hunters In The Snow Character Analysis
The Struggle for Power in Hunters in the Snow In Tobias Wolff s Hunters in the Snow , the plot
illustrates a struggle for power between the three main characters. Throughout the story, the balance of
power shifts between characters from Kenny leading to Tub and Frank sharing power over Kenny. The
narrator conveys this struggle for power in the use of conflict, motivation, and suspense. The narrator
describes conflicts between the characters that show how the characters are fighting for power. One of
the conflicts is when Kenny picks on Tub over his weight. They stop to eat and Kenny notices Tub
eating one hard boiled egg asks him about his diet and then says All I can say is, it s the first diet I
ever heard of where you gained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frank tells Tub that This so called fifteen year old has more in her little finger than most of us have in
our entire bodies when talking about his babysitter (89). Frank s affair consumes his thinking and
makes him follow whoever has the power in hopes that they will justify his actions. Another example
of a character s motivations that show the struggle for power are Kenny s motivations. Kenny is
satirical and uncompassionate towards his friends because he believes it is the only way for him to be
in control. Kenny constantly makes fun of Tub and Frank for their sensitivities and plays them against
one another. Kenny is power hungry and will fight to stay on top. The narrator uses suspense to show
the shifting power struggle between the characters. One example is the scene where Kenny shoots the
dog. Kenny starts shooting random things and saying that he hates them including a dog then he
turned to Tub and said I hate you (84). The suspense highlights how this scene is a turning point in the
struggle for power in which Kenny becomes the lowest member. Another example of suspense
showing the power struggle is when Tub tried to catch up to Kenny and Frank. Tub is left behind and
starts to panic building suspense. This scene highlights the power struggle by showing Tub trying to
catch up to the two people on top of the power struggle. Another example of suspense in the story is
the beginning scene when Tub is almost run

What Temporal Analysis of Contribution Pattern says about...
In this section, we state and justify the choices we made in the study, its influence and also discuss the
future scope of this work. In this paper, we present a case study on one real world, large, popular and
open source project namely Google Chromium Project. Google Chromium has reportedly observed an
increase in popularityfootnote{http://statcounter.com} (with respect to other similar projects) from
2009 to 2012 that is the duration of the study. This increase in popularity is also evident from the
increase in issue count reported for the project. The insights present in the study brings out the trends
in popular project, however due to limited space availability we do not bring out the contrast by
comparison with projects that heads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus one may argue that it is the contribution pattern of core participants and not all contributors that
matters for the project. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals
where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in
FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in
project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing
popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and
slowly dies out.
In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving
the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three
months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation
even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of
participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision
makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and
objective manner.
Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of
project by examining contributor participation patterns. We present study on trends of participation,
however inclusion of factors

How Pentecostalism Is One Of The Major Denomination Of...
utumn Petrolina Hayes, Andrew Anthropology 130 22 February 2016 Pentecostalism Pentecostalism
is one of the major denominations of Protestant Christianity that originated from the Holiness Revival
of the 19th century. The Pentecostal Movement began in Topeka, Kansas at Bethel Bible College,
established by Charles Parham who taught that speaking in tongues was a spiritual gift that
demonstrated as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit, a distinct type of baptism experienced in
chapter two of the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost. On January 1st of 1901, Agnes Ozman, a
student at Bethel Bible School, was the first person to speak in tongues after being baptized with The
Holy Spirit. This marks the beginning of the Pentecostal Revival. In 1905, Parham began preaching in
Houston, Texas where he began a smaller bible school. According to Kevin Sack, a journalist for The
New York Times, an African American pastor named William Seymour would attend Parham s
services though he was made to sit outside the room and listen through a cracked door. Parham s
teachings of baptism with the Holy Spirit enveloped Seymour, who took this new theology to Los
Angeles in 1906 where he temporarily pastored a small African American Holiness Church. The
church rejected Seymour s claims on tongues as proof of baptism with The Holy Spirit. The pastor of
the church, Julia Hitchins, was outraged by Seymour s sermon and kicked him out of the church.
Seymour moved in with a friend of his,

The Mobile Telecommunications Industry
The mobile telecommunications industry in Ireland has always been a competitive and rapidly
changing industry. It has changed considerably from it s initial birth with only one competitor, to it s
liberalisation in 1998, all the way through to the introduction of MVNO s in the 2000 s. Mobile
penetration has increased from 42 % in 2000 (Telecommunications and Internet Federation, 2005) to
almost 97% of Irish adults owning a mobile phone now in 2013. (Irishexaminer.com, 2013) In order to
fully understand the rapid development of this industry and the future of it, we must first look at its
history in 1998. The Telecommunications Industry in Ireland in 1998 was a duopoly, meaning that
there were only two service providers in the market. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the mobile network market was much more concentrated than the supplier market, thus limiting
supplier power. Despite both companies offering similar services, the threat of substitution within this
industry was low. Prices for the two companies were similar, with both standing at 20p per min from
7am to 3pm on weekdays and all day on weekends (Independent.ie, 1998).The buyers propensity to
substitute was further lowered by high switching costs. They were unwilling to consider the substitute
as the benefit they would receive from switching companies would not outweigh the costs, they now
therefore had a stronger incentive to remain with their current provider (cite). Competiitive rivalry
within the industry was high. The two firms actively competed with each other in order to gain market
share. The service lacked differentiation between the two yet high switching costs prevented them
from stealing each others market base. They competed with each other in order to gain more coverage
in rural areas and thus increase market share. They also engaged in price competition, with Esat
Digifone trying to catch up with the longer established Eircell, particularly around Christmas period.
With the launch of the pre paid service in 1998, Esat digifone aimed to provide lower peak rates than
Eircell and differentiated themselves by allowing customers receive incoming call for 6 months even
if they had run out of credit and not topped up (Independent.ie, 1998) . Capital costs

the code of conduct of Salvation Army, there are many strengths that promote the honesty and
integrity of the business. However, there are some weaknesses that as an employee, the Board of

Violations can be treated the same whether the employee violated the code, or if an employee is aware
of a violation and does not inform the company. Disciplinary action if defined as termination, without
notice or payment in lieu of such notice...may also result in civil and/or criminal proceedings being
initiated. (Code of Conduct, 2013, p. 5) Both violations, and the result of committing a violation, seem
vague in relation to the operations of the business and what instances result in a violation.
Clarification of disciplinary action such as probation, suspension, demotion, reduction in pay could be
examples depending upon the company policy that could be added to the Code of Conduct.
Additionally, justification should be added of how serious is a violation or, more importantly what are
the effects of a violation? Not only is a violation a personal consequence, but the consequences for the
company should also be included within the code such as the company s image to the community,
customers and other stakeholders. The Code of Conduct should ultimately relate back to the good of
the company as well as the risks that could include the business. Fraud, unethical or improper
behavior is strongly discouraged throughout the Code of Conduct, and very well should be. In fact, the
Code of Conduct lists nine items in which the any employee should not do. Most people do not
respond well to a list of what not to do.

Fear Of The Invisible Man
The people of Iping scattered as the invisible man s infinite rain of terror engulfed them in anxiety. A
storm began and trembled as he penetrated into the village. Doors clattered shut, as the people
quivered in their homes. The obscure man s voice sounded like nails while he spoke, This village is
under me, the terror! No one in the small village of Iping was safe... no one. The Invisible Man, by
Herbert George Wells, combines innovated science with the morals of a human being. The invisible
man, who is named Griffith, was so fascinated by science that he turned himself invisible. At first,
Griffith enjoys the convenience of his new found power, but then discovers the consequences that
come with invisibility. On a quest to restore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses different formats of symbols to portray the danger that the power of invisibility and
the man possess. First, the invisible cat on pages 108 and 109, is a minor character in the novel, but
portrays a much larger picture. While Griffith was testing his invisibility potion, he decided to test it
on his neighbor s cat. The cat gradually became invisible, except with its emerald green eyes. The
invisible man threw it out onto the street and it became a ruckus for all of the community. The
invisible cat represents the first time that invisibility is revealed. At first, the cat did not know what to
expect from the invisibility, like Griffith. Then the community didn t know how to react, like the
village of Iping. The invisible cat was a stepping stone in the climax of Griffith turning invisible and
his impact on Iping. Next, when Griffith was forced out by his landlord to leave his apartment, he set
his apartment on fire. At first the fire started out compact, like Griffith when he became invisible.
Over time, the fire gained strength until it roared like a lion and destroyed other apartments until it
engulfed the entire building. This portrayed Griffith and his insidious actions toward the community.
At first the invisible only affected himself. Then his actions began to turn devious and grow, much like
the fire. Finally, the last symbol the author uses to depict a

Relationships In The Turn Of The Twentieth Century
Once upon a time ... you know the story, were the prince goes to great lengths to rescue the princess
from the witch or the dragon, maybe even some curse, they fall in love and live happily ever after. If
only relationships were that simple, and not that sexist, how happy we all would be. However, for
those of us that live outside the world of fairy tales, we know how unrealistic this is. In taking the time
to look at real relationships, we see that they have many complexes; multiple facets that make the
relationship begin, continue and even end. Some would argue that relationships are not intricate at all,
but in reality, we have lost the value and meaning behind them and so we make them more difficult.
That the issue with relationships is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was important that they taught them young, to shrink themselves, they need to learn that they were
less then men, in this man s world, and to recognize that they had a role to play. For many women this
was an issue, they couldn t enter the workforce for certain jobs (if at all), they couldn t live alone, but
most importantly it affected their relationships and marriages the most. Marriage something that they
were taught to strive for, something that was so romanticized even it was tainted. Women in the 20th
century, unlike modern women were not viewed as equals in a relationship, and a clear indication of
that that is seen in the literature of that time. In analyzing the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper
(Charlotte Perkins Gilman), we see just how unequal women were in relationships. As the wife , of
John (interesting that she does not even have her own name) she suffers from depression and depends
on him. However, instead of treating her like a sick wife John treats her more like a child, such as
when she as when she tries to talk about her condition and he tells her, bless her little heart (532). Here
we see John, the husband of the narrator, talking down to his wife. This is because he is a man he feels
superior over her. Women were not equal within the relationship and were often times treated as
children. We also she this equality as John will not allow his wife to decide were to sleep. Although it
would have been in her best interest to get out of the room that was filled with the yellow wallpaper ,
as a man he believes that he knows what is best even when his wife tells him how she feels because
they are not equal he does not view her opinions or feels as being important. Although it is often said
that women should be more traditional , such as those from centuries before, it is clear to see why

Debt Relief for African Countries
Over the past few decades Africa s overall economic performance has been in decline especially in the
1980s. There has been little prospect for the future of most of these developing countries, however
during recent years there has been a degree of optimism considering the development performance of
the economy as well as providing a better long term future. The crisis emerged in 1982 with their debt
rising above $140 billion to over $270 billion in 1990 (World Bank, 2013). There has been stagnation
regarding the growth of their economies but despite periods of success Africa has been unable to
unleash its full potential. In order to fully understand the effects of the debt crisis further examination
into the background and causes of the crisis is needed, with attention to specific countries. The effect
of the debt on the development of the region has to be discussed in detail in order to understand the
difficulties most of these countries face with repaying their debts and promoting continuous economic
growth. By highlighting the degree of optimism which has been evident in recent years for developing
countries to progress, we can argue that there is a future for most of these countries when they look
past the obstacle that debt presents. Especially in the 21st century where Africa is seen as one of the
leading economies. This raises the possibility that despite huge overall debt stocks, that Africa may
rise on the world economic platform and over take a few of the world s

launching their neem oil hair care products under the brand name Mira Neem.
Is Markt at risk and liable to NeemMiracle with respect to Trade Mark infringement, passing off,

No Trade Mark infringement for two reasons;
a) The mark or get up being used by Markt only similar in colour and not necessarily name, the word
neem may be argued to be descriptive. and
b) NeemMiracle has not registered the trademark in either Australia or New Zealand.
There may be a case for passing off under common law and/or misleading and deceptive conduct
under S 18 ACL . An action in passing off deals only with misrepresentation, for an action in passing
off to be successful we can refer to the classical trinity . In the Jiff Lemon Case Lord Oliver set out
three tests for an action in passing off to be met. The classical trinity has been used as a touchstone for
passing off.
It can be argued that the getup of the Mira Neem product(s) is adopting a similar style or mark to
NeemMiracle with respect to choice of colour, font and naming of the product; further argued that the
confusing labelling of the product without any disclaimer may misrepresent the Mira Neem product as
part of the products currently produced and marketed by NeemMiracle.

The Secretary Chant By Marge Piercy
Poems are a unique piece of literature that generally include a strong form of emotion. When writing
poems, the author will do certain things to make their poem more powerful such as word choice and
word placement, punctuation, character choice, and what point of view the poem is being told from.
The author does this so that they can better connect their audience to the poem and make them relate
more to the characters present in the poem. One thing that can make poems powerful is when an
author includes divisions, conflicts, and multiple forces within the self, or in other words, within a
character. Including this in a poem emphasizes what the characters are feeling personally and allows
the reader to see through the character s eyes. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While reading the poem, the woman doing this can be thought of as her having such a low self esteem
that she feels worthless and the only things that can explain how she feels are office objects. The line
my head is a badly organized file gives the idea that the woman s life is a jumbled mess which can be
a reason that leads to her low self esteem. After reading the poem, it is discovered that the women s
conflict in herself is that she isn t recognized enough for all the stuff that she does, and that the reason
she is comparing herself to office objects is because she feels like a machine, doing the same thing
every day, and never getting a break. The line my head is a badly organized file can be relooked at as
the woman always doing work and that a lot of things are always on her mind and she doesn t know

but does not give her name, which incorporates stereotypes because her individuality is taken away,
and she does not know who she is anymore. The woman wants recognition for all the work that she
does, but she does not get it, and is seen by everyone else as a machine, which lowers her self esteem
even more. The poem being in first person helps the reader to understand the woman better because
they get exactly how the woman is feeling and not another view saying how she

Case Study Directing Operating Room Affairs
Directing operating room affairs is complicated even in the best case scenarios. However, patient use
of opiods can make assessments and choices more challenging. Intravenous drug users are often
diagnosed with endocarditis, an expensive considtion to treat. How often are you seeing addicts with
this serious heart condition in your facility, and how are you handling it? In many facilities, the patient
receives various treatments, including a replacement heart valve and extensive antibiotics. The aspect
of patient care that has not been included in the past is addiction services. Once the infection is cured
and the valve replaced, the patients are discharged, often hitting the streets hard in search of their drug

Smiggle Marketing Approach and Analysis

Customer Value is the performance characteristics, features and attributes, and any other aspects of
goods and which customers are willing to give up resources (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg and Coulter,
2012). This broad definition highlights the fact that there are multiple aspects that contribute to create
a sense of value within the customer.
The first and clearly most important aspect of customer value is functional value (Smith and Colgate,
2007); that the product has fulfilled the expectations of the customer in terms of performance,
completing the task that it promised on purchase. While seemingly obvious it is important that
Smiggle maintain its quality control to ensure that customers continue to remain satisfied with the
performance of the product if the marketing is to succeed.

Commitment to Nutrition
Kelloggnutrition.com states that the Kellogg Company was founded with a philosophy that
encouraged people to improve their health (kellognutrition.com, 2006). Kellogg was the first company
to put nutrition labels, recipes, and product information on the back and sides of their cereal boxes in
the 1930s. The company wants their consumers to be well informed of what is in their products so that
they can decide for themselves if it s right for their families. According to msnbc.com, Kellogg has
also taken a step further from choosing to stop advertising to young children by also deciding to
increase the nutritional value of the snacks and cereals that are targeted at children. The company is
showing that they have genuine concern for children and are taking steps to make their products

Persuasive Speech About Plastic Surgery
Why has society become so obsessed with being perfect? What s wrong with laugh lines near your
mouth, crow s feet by your eyes, and cellulite on your legs? Growing up in today s society puts a lot of
pressure on young men and women to look their best all of the time. People fear the changes that
naturally take place in the aging process and take drastic measures to alter their appearance. The
dangers of getting certain procedures such as botox and collagen injections, implants, and rhinoplasty
are extremely dangerous ways to hold on to a youthful look. The patients who get plastic surgery

Rhinoplasty, another name for a nose job, has been described as the most difficult of all facial plastic
surgical procedures. As with all surgical procedures there are risks and benefits. When deciding
whether to have the surgery, the patient along with their surgeon needs to weigh the benefits of
rhinoplasty versus the risks and complications. Usually the person who is getting the surgery only
thinks of the benefits the nose job will bring them, which is usually just a confidence booster. The
serious risks that people take when they get rhinoplasty are difficulty breathing, nose swelling and
discoloration, nasal septal perforation (a hole in the nasal septum), and probably the most important
risk the shallow patient is probably thinking: the unsatisfactory nasal appearance. In an episode of
Botched, a famous television show solely based off of plastic surgeries, a patient wanted her seventh

combating natural resource degradation for centuries. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau published a
compilation of lectures, Walden, that would become the standard by which all subsequent nature

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels
Cameron Aiello
Professor Lund
Final Paper
14 May 2017
Throughout all of Jonathan Swift s writings there are many commonalities. One in particular that
stands out is the use of satire throughout both Gulliver s Travels , which tells the story of a series of
voyages of Lemuel Gulliver s published in 1726, and A Modest Proposal , where Swift uses the idea
of cannibalism to captivate his audience as well as focus on society s problems. Throughout Swift s
life, politics and religion had a huge impact on him and more importantly, his writing. Many of the
satires that Swift uses in his works have to do with politics and the changing ways of the Catholic
church in the 1800 s.

Swift is using this quotation to show that he cares about the poor and struggling people and he really
wants to help them. This is also a different type of writing from Swift, who usually is always
criticizing someone rather than showing empathy for them. But since Swift disagrees with the English
so much, he chooses to write about it and make those with wealth and power look evil and selfish.
Swift who chose not to make it known he was writing this satire, continues to bash England on page
509 by saying, I fortunately fell upon this proposal; which, as it is wholly new, so it hath something
solid and real, of no expence, and little trouble, full in our own power; and whereby we can incur no
danger in disobliging England: for this kind of commodity will not bear exportation; the flesh being of
too tender a consistence, to admit a long continuance in salt; although, perhaps, I could name a
country, which would be glad to eat up our whole nation without it . Here, once again Swift shows that
England has no problem with the Irish starving and not being able to survive or make money as long
as the rich and powerful are facing no hardships. Also by using the words eat up he is going back to
the idea of cannibalism, not by the poor but by the wealthy who are taking what is left of the the other
nations to become more powerful and to gain more

Cave Paintings Essay
Creating art is one of the single defining factors that set humans apart from animal species. Through
art, humans are able to express their innermost ideas and feelings, without having the difficulty of
trying to find the correct words to accurately describe their thought processes. Works of art can help us
to understand the people who have come before us. This is evidenced by the knowledge humans have
discovered of prehistoric men and their symbolic cave paintings. The expression, style, and meaning
vary and archaeologists put in much effort to uncover these works. The first evidence of cave art
appeared in Western Europe (Berenguer 67). Early cave paintings were characteristic of Western art.

It is often found to be extremely animalistic. The animals most commonly depicted are horses, deer,
reindeer, bison, ipex, aurochs, woolly rhinoceroses, and mammoths. Sometimes lions and bears are
also created, but rarely fish or birds. Humans were also commonly represented (Berenguer 73).
Prehistoric men also created abstract designs that have proven hard to identify. They are referred to as
signs and a special nomenclature has been developed to better understand their meaning. Tectiforms
are generally quadrangular shapes, with crossing vertical lines inside forming a trellis or mesh design.
Tectiforms often appear near naturalistic figures of animals. Scutiforms have been thought to represent
the female vulva. They are formed by red patches, often in the form of a comma or a key. Other types
of signs are penniforms, ramiforms, and claviforms. The exact meanings of most of these signs remain
unknown (Berenguer 82). The French scholar Leroi Gourhan formed a theory regarding the
animalistic and abstract art representations. He believed all depictions revolved around the law of sex,
noting that the philosophy of the prehistoric men concentrated all explanations on sex and sexual
relations. Cave art depictions of animals are divided into male and female. The male animals are
horses, she goats, and deer. Bison, bovidae, and mammoths are female. The signs are also divided into
gender categories. Triangles, rectangles, ramiforms, tectiforms, and scutiforms are

How Is Shakespeare Used Today
Shakespeare is a name in theatre and history that is very well known all around for his playwrights
and sonnets. A sonnet is a 14line poem that rhymes in an iambic pentameter pattern. The sonnets
usually include two final lines at the end that summarize the whole poem, a couplet. Shakespeare s
first sonnet was published in 1609; the language is quite different from now, but his sonnets and plays

The Rise Of The Roman Revolution
Ancient Rome is filled with stories of sabotage, betrayal, and revenge. These events are the direct
result of a conspiracy that sparks political debate even today. One of the more controversial events
occurred a relatively short time before Caesar s rule and when of the Roman Republic when Senators
were brutal in their methods of winning elections. The Roman election of 63 B.C.E. had become the
foundation for the conspiracy against a Roman senator Cicero by another Roman senator popularly
known as Catiline. Ultimately, Catiline s plan had been unveiled and despite trying to incite a

against Catiline.
The elections of 63 B.C. would further Catiline s plot to overthrow the Roman Government. His
intentions were made clear when he spoke to his friends. When he met with them, he spoke of their
liberty and power in government. Such is the case when he mentions, for fine a few great ones have
got the power into their hands, they have had always Kings and Tetrarchs and Tributaries; Nations and
Provinces have paid them a private revenue: all we have fellows, noble and ignoble, have been a

administration had run in the true channel, we ought to have been a terror . This shows Catiline s far
reaching political aspirations and keen interest in running for public offices of the republic. We notice
that Catiline continues on his destructive path mentioning that should the government be on the
correct path, they would be a force to be reckoned with. Catiline s friends who were likely also
Senators as well helped him in his efforts to push the conspiracy forward which would ultimately

Cosmia Analysis
Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an
orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of
grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song
invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological
aspects.
The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to
note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a
section to another.
Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the
music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song,
as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is
somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece,
dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus
gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section
A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the
verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement
which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in

In the Spanish colonies the encomienda system setup slavery in the form of labor to the natives. In the
Spanish colonies, the natives were set under the encomienda system where the natives were used as
slaves for their protection, in return for their labor. The natives were also forced to undergo a
conversion in religion under this system. The Spanish soldiers believed natives were only fit to be
tortured and killed. If the natives did not convert, the Spanish would torture and kill natives. Similar to
the Spanish colonies encomienda system, the New England colonies had indentured servitude. During
the early settlements colonists were mostly friendly with the natives. Soon, in the colonies of Virginia
and Maryland, chattel slavery and indentured servitude amongst the natives were vast. The English
believed the natives were property and compared to animals. In indentured servitude the natives were
granted freedom by the English in return for their work, just how to the Spanish granted protection for

exhaustively or in depth. This analysis has been developed at length in other writings4 and is also
embodied in the National Plan for Good Living, 2009 20135. In this occasion, it is more pertinent to
posit a philosophical political analysis of one of the flagship initiatives that Ecuador has presented to
the world and that is a symbolic example of the dispute of the logic of capitalist development : the
Yasuní ITT6 Initiative. This project consists of keeping the oil underground (not drilling for it) in one
of the most mega diverse areas of the world, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In that sense it is a

presents anti capitalism from a purely theoretical perspective, regardless of the political viability of

restoration between the two countries fails. Supporters of the decision might claim the decision to
restore ties was a calculated risk. Restoring diplomatic ties between both the United States and Cuba
will ultimately benefit them economically, create business and investments on both sides create a
bigger tourist population which will also help boost the economy. Without the United States, Cuba s
economy will only get worse from here and it would be profitable for both countries to lift the
restrictions and sanctions. The fact remains that most of Cuba is still considered a third world country
and only time will tell how this reunion will play

I Was Sick At An Alley, After The Funeral Essay
I was sick in an alley, after the funeral. It was the last time I wore black, and I was making a mess of
it. After sitting in the damp for a few hours I crawled out of that hellhole to what I thought was the
nearest bar, and ordered two neat whiskeys one for me and the duke, just like we used to after the
particularly stupid missions. A bowl of soup was put out in front of me, as it slowly dawned upon me
that the bar I walked into was a diner, and the tender a waitress. Her eyes were a hazy hazel blue,
sparkly grand from the last of the ludes in my system, and she smiled some pity to me. I went to the
bathroom, cleaned myself up, and had the most goddammned delicious chicken noodle of my life. I
put my last twenty on the counter, conjured up a smile, went on my way and that s how I started
seeing Nadine Penny. It s amazing how obtuse I can be sometimes, as I went back to the next day, and
the next. I kept ordering coffee, chatting her up, getting the story down and trying to tell what I could
of mine. I felt compelled to be there I liked being around her, she was funny, quirky, fresh air from the
usual choke and gloom and violence of mage s life. It was hard for me to come to terms with the fact
that as I spent time with her, it was more than liking her company than I liking her. She was different
from Danny, who s sometimes so in my head it s like talking to myself. We ve always been flat mates,
roommates, and sometimes bedmates out of loneliness. But he was

The Red Flags And Audit Risk Factors
Introduction
The first part identifies and analyses key red flags from the case. The section continues with ethical
issues, which are further explained by the fraud triangle framework and continues with independency
issues. Part 2 introduces alternative courses of action by Martirossian and continues with an analysis
of his role. The section concludes with a personal choice of favorable alternatives.
Finally, the last section concludes the main aspects.
Part 1
1.1 Red Flags and Audit Risk Factors
AMRE s executives had incentives to keep the stock price on a high level
The negative profit projections could have triggered a pressure situation for the executives, thus
Koornhof and Du Plessis (2000) identified that an increasing financial pressure on a company s
management to report favourable results on a constant basis is the main reason for deliberately
misstating financial statements. Furthermore, companies which are facing financial distress are more
likely to commit fraud (Albrecht et al., 2012, p. 147).
According to AICPAAU Section 314 (2006), it is important for Price Waterhouse to understand the
entity and its environment, in order to evaluate risks of material misstatement. Furthermore, it is their
legal obligation (Arens et al., 2012, p. 131).
In the audit planning stage, Price Waterhouse could have conducted analytical procedures, in order to
compare the entity s financial information with anticipated results of AMRE, such as budgets or
forecasts (AICPA, AU C

Analysis Of The Umar Abdullah Johnson Theory Of Black Male...
The Umar Abdullah Johnson Theory of Black Male Alienation posits that a five stage cycle of
institutional repression exists that has effectively sent more black men to jail than it has to college.
Any attempt to reverse this war against America s most misunderstood population begins with a firm
analysis of the process and its origins in boyhood. Americans, including Blacks, have become so
desensitized to the pain of Black boys and so expectant of their failures that their pain is often
overlooked and their achievements treated like occasional glitches in a system that has successfully
made Black boys a permanent underclass in this country. But the color of a Negro s skin makes him
easily recognizable, makes him suspect, converts him into a defenseless target (Richard Wright, Black
Boy) Mis education often begins at birth. The average first day of life for Black children is when they
become subjected to self hatred and self hating messages about themselves. They re often getting
messages about themselves that is directly or indirectly coming from the white culture. From the first
day they are brought into this world, the mis education and the self hatred towards our babies starts
right then and there. It starts to increase in preschool because in preschool, for those that decide to
send their child to preschool, this will be the first time that the Black boy comes face to face with the
School guidelines of the American social order where he is expected to preform to

How Juneteenth Changed America
After doing a little bit of research I had found what Juneteenth actually was all about.

Juneteenth or
June 19th is the date that slavery officially ended all over America. specifically it ended back in 1865
when U.S. Army Union officer Gordon Granger arrived at Galveston, Texas to tell everyone that the
war had ended and that all slavery was abolished. Interestingly enough, this was two years after
Lincoln announced the Emancipation Proclamation. The reason why the new law was never really
enforced in Texas however was because of the lack of union soldiers in the state. After this, many
plantation slaves received there first taste of freedom and with this some went north to union states
and others spread out to the surrounding states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the early 1900s Juneteenth began to fade from popularity as a holiday. This was mainly
because classrooms and textbooks began to skip over the fact of General Granger s arrival in
Galveston, Even today almost all textbooks don t even make a mention of the holiday. This is why I
believe no one in our class knew about this date, I feel as though most schools probably think that its
not important since they can just shorten the explanation to slavery was abolished with the
emancipation proclamation . Another similar example to this is how schools teach that Columbus was
the first to discovered America, when the reality is that thats the farthest thing from the truth. Also I
suppose that the holiday is probably more prominent down south near Texas and in what was the
confederate states. However, now going back to what lead to Juneteenth fading from popularity; with
the great depression happening in the 30s many people could not take the time off of work to go and
celebrate the holiday. However, over the next 50 years the holiday would makes different appearances
and in 1980 was officially made into a state official holiday. Now, Junetheenth seems to be spreading
all over the country with different committees popping up all over the

Selecting A Gynecologist
When it comes time to select a new gynecologist, due to a move or a change in insurance, a woman
needs to take time to choose one that will work well for her. There are a variety of items to
contemplate such as location, philosophical compatibility, specialties and whether he or she has any
openings for new patients. Here are the top ten tips to help choose this important medical practitioner.
Specialties: Gynecologists often have specialties such as infertility, oncology, or obstetrics. If you are
having problems getting pregnant, you ll want a physician who has extensive knowledge in infertility.
If you or a blood relative has had uterine or gynecological cancer, it s a good idea to be teamed up
with a doctor who has expertise in oncology. If you re planning to become pregnant, you ll want a
doctor who includes obstetrics in their practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Insurance: You need to make sure that your insurance is accepted by a prospective medical provider.
You don t want to be surprised by a big bill for care that you thought was to be covered by your health
plan.
Philosophy: If you are interested in alternative health remedies and natural care whenever possible,
you ll want to make sure that your prospective doctor shares your philosophies. An initial consultation
would be a great time to discuss this.
Gender: Some women prefer a female doctor while others feel more comfortable with a male. Think
about your own preferences and choose a new gynecologist accordingly.
Location: Think about how far you d be willing to drive for your new physician and narrow down
possibilities with a map in

  • 2. The Changing Role Of Flappers In The 1920 s The 1920s, out with the old and in with the new. The Roaring Twenties was the decade of change and prosperity where women wanted to be acknowledged for how they looked and dressed. Young women also became more independent. This is how the famous term of a flapper came to be. Flappers are young women and teenagers who dressed and acted differently with controversial behavior. Flappers brought a dramatic change to society that made women realize how they should be treated. In the past, women had to be submissive all the time and not voice their opinions. Back in the early centuries, women were involved in domestic violence and their husbands and boyfriends would control how they looked and acted. After World War I, many young men who fought did not return home. This left women to explore the world and try new things. They realized that life was too short to do anything but have fun. (The Rise of the Flapper). The 1920s was finally the breakthrough of change women had been waiting for for centuries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men, increased dramatically. They want to be treated equally as men are. • 3. Hunters In The Snow Character Analysis The Struggle for Power in Hunters in the Snow In Tobias Wolff s Hunters in the Snow , the plot illustrates a struggle for power between the three main characters. Throughout the story, the balance of power shifts between characters from Kenny leading to Tub and Frank sharing power over Kenny. The narrator conveys this struggle for power in the use of conflict, motivation, and suspense. The narrator describes conflicts between the characters that show how the characters are fighting for power. One of the conflicts is when Kenny picks on Tub over his weight. They stop to eat and Kenny notices Tub eating one hard boiled egg asks him about his diet and then says All I can say is, it s the first diet I ever heard of where you gained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frank tells Tub that This so called fifteen year old has more in her little finger than most of us have in our entire bodies when talking about his babysitter (89). Frank s affair consumes his thinking and makes him follow whoever has the power in hopes that they will justify his actions. Another example of a character s motivations that show the struggle for power are Kenny s motivations. Kenny is satirical and uncompassionate towards his friends because he believes it is the only way for him to be in control. Kenny constantly makes fun of Tub and Frank for their sensitivities and plays them against one another. Kenny is power hungry and will fight to stay on top. The narrator uses suspense to show the shifting power struggle between the characters. One example is the scene where Kenny shoots the dog. Kenny starts shooting random things and saying that he hates them including a dog then he turned to Tub and said I hate you (84). The suspense highlights how this scene is a turning point in the struggle for power in which Kenny becomes the lowest member. Another example of suspense showing the power struggle is when Tub tried to catch up to Kenny and Frank. Tub is left behind and starts to panic building suspense. This scene highlights the power struggle by showing Tub trying to catch up to the two people on top of the power struggle. Another example of suspense in the story is the beginning scene when Tub is almost run ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this section, we state and justify the choices we made in the study, its influence and also discuss the future scope of this work. In this paper, we present a case study on one real world, large, popular and open source project namely Google Chromium Project. Google Chromium has reportedly observed an increase in popularityfootnote{http://statcounter.com} (with respect to other similar projects) from 2009 to 2012 that is the duration of the study. This increase in popularity is also evident from the increase in issue count reported for the project. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus one may argue that it is the contribution pattern of core participants and not all contributors that matters for the project. However, success of FLOSS projects is driven by masses and not individuals where each contributor has a unique role to serve. For instance, approximately 70% of contributors in FLOSS projects are one time contributors. However, their presence ensures popularity and interest in project, and is appreciated. So if contributors cease to file issues it is an indicator of decreasing popularity and influences the age of project. With decreasing contribution the project diminishes and slowly dies out. In this study we assume absence of activities in three months as an indicator of contributors leaving the project. This assumption is localized. For instance, an owner who stop participating for three months indicates that the contributor has left the project while a reporter may continue participation even after a year. However, for planning this assumption holds as it indicates the trend of participation. Also the data available in ITS may not answer all RQs that are of relevance to decision makers. However, it gives justifiable understanding of stability of the project in a data driven and objective manner. Another extension of this work will be to study environmental factors that influences stability of project by examining contributor participation patterns. How Pentecostalism Is One Of The Major Denomination Of... utumn Petrolina Hayes, Andrew Anthropology 130 22 February 2016 Pentecostalism Pentecostalism is one of the major denominations of Protestant Christianity that originated from the Holiness Revival of the 19th century. The Pentecostal Movement began in Topeka, Kansas at Bethel Bible College, established by Charles Parham who taught that speaking in tongues was a spiritual gift that demonstrated as evidence of baptism with the Holy Spirit, a distinct type of baptism experienced in chapter two of the book of Acts on the day of Pentecost. On January 1st of 1901, Agnes Ozman, a student at Bethel Bible School, was the first person to speak in tongues after being baptized with The Holy Spirit. This marks the beginning of the Pentecostal Revival. In 1905, Parham began preaching in Houston, Texas where he began a smaller bible school. According to Kevin Sack, a journalist for The New York Times, an African American pastor named William Seymour would attend Parham s services though he was made to sit outside the room and listen through a cracked door. Parham s teachings of baptism with the Holy Spirit enveloped Seymour, who took this new theology to Los Angeles in 1906 where he temporarily pastored a small African American Holiness Church. The church rejected Seymour s claims on tongues as proof of baptism with The Holy Spirit. The pastor of the church, Julia Hitchins, was outraged by Seymour s sermon and kicked him out of the church. (Irishexaminer.com, 2013) In order to fully understand the rapid development of this industry and the future of it, we must first look at its history in 1998. Despite both companies offering similar services, the threat of substitution within this industry was low. Prices for the two companies were similar, with both standing at 20p per min from 7am to 3pm on weekdays and all day on weekends (Independent.ie, 1998).The buyers propensity to substitute was further lowered by high switching costs. They were unwilling to consider the substitute as the benefit they would receive from switching companies would not outweigh the costs, they now therefore had a stronger incentive to remain with their current provider (cite). Competiitive rivalry within the industry was high. The two firms actively competed with each other in order to gain market share. The author uses different formats of symbols to portray the danger that the power of invisibility and the man possess. First, the invisible cat on pages 108 and 109, is a minor character in the novel, but portrays a much larger picture. While Griffith was testing his invisibility potion, he decided to test it on his neighbor s cat. The cat gradually became invisible, except with its emerald green eyes. The invisible man threw it out onto the street and it became a ruckus for all of the community. The invisible cat represents the first time that invisibility is revealed. At first, the cat did not know what to expect from the invisibility, like Griffith. Then the community didn t know how to react, like the village of Iping. The invisible cat was a stepping stone in the climax of Griffith turning invisible and his impact on Iping. Next, when Griffith was forced out by his landlord to leave his apartment, he set his apartment on fire. At first the fire started out compact, like Griffith when he became invisible. Over time, the fire gained strength until it roared like a lion and destroyed other apartments until it engulfed the entire building. This portrayed Griffith and his insidious actions toward the community. At first the invisible only affected himself. Then his actions began to turn devious and grow, much like the fire. Relationships In The Turn Of The Twentieth Century Once upon a time ... you know the story, were the prince goes to great lengths to rescue the princess from the witch or the dragon, maybe even some curse, they fall in love and live happily ever after. If only relationships were that simple, and not that sexist, how happy we all would be. However, for those of us that live outside the world of fairy tales, we know how unrealistic this is. In taking the time to look at real relationships, we see that they have many complexes; multiple facets that make the relationship begin, continue and even end. For many women this was an issue, they couldn t enter the workforce for certain jobs (if at all), they couldn t live alone, but most importantly it affected their relationships and marriages the most. Marriage something that they were taught to strive for, something that was so romanticized even it was tainted. Women in the 20th century, unlike modern women were not viewed as equals in a relationship, and a clear indication of that that is seen in the literature of that time. In analyzing the short story, The Yellow Wallpaper (Charlotte Perkins Gilman), we see just how unequal women were in relationships. As the wife , of John (interesting that she does not even have her own name) she suffers from depression and depends on him. However, instead of treating her like a sick wife John treats her more like a child, such as when she as when she tries to talk about her condition and he tells her, bless her little heart (532). Here we see John, the husband of the narrator, talking down to his wife. This is because he is a man he feels superior over her. Women were not equal within the relationship and were often times treated as children. We also she this equality as John will not allow his wife to decide were to sleep. Although it would have been in her best interest to get out of the room that was filled with the yellow wallpaper , as a man he believes that he knows what is best even when his wife tells him how she feels because they are not equal he does not view her opinions or feels as being important. There has been little prospect for the future of most of these developing countries, however during recent years there has been a degree of optimism considering the development performance of the economy as well as providing a better long term future. The crisis emerged in 1982 with their debt rising above $140 billion to over $270 billion in 1990 (World Bank, 2013). There has been stagnation regarding the growth of their economies but despite periods of success Africa has been unable to unleash its full potential. In order to fully understand the effects of the debt crisis further examination into the background and causes of the crisis is needed, with attention to specific countries. The effect of the debt on the development of the region has to be discussed in detail in order to understand the difficulties most of these countries face with repaying their debts and promoting continuous economic growth. By highlighting the degree of optimism which has been evident in recent years for developing countries to progress, we can argue that there is a future for most of these countries when they look past the obstacle that debt presents. When writing poems, the author will do certain things to make their poem more powerful such as word choice and word placement, punctuation, character choice, and what point of view the poem is being told from. The author does this so that they can better connect their audience to the poem and make them relate more to the characters present in the poem. After reading the poem, it is discovered that the women s conflict in herself is that she isn t recognized enough for all the stuff that she does, and that the reason she is comparing herself to office objects is because she feels like a machine, doing the same thing every day, and never getting a break. Customer Value is the performance characteristics, features and attributes, and any other aspects of goods and which customers are willing to give up resources (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg and Coulter, 2012). This broad definition highlights the fact that there are multiple aspects that contribute to create a sense of value within the customer. The first and clearly most important aspect of customer value is functional value (Smith and Colgate, 2007); that the product has fulfilled the expectations of the customer in terms of performance, completing the task that it promised on purchase. While seemingly obvious it is important that Smiggle maintain its quality control to ensure that customers continue to remain satisfied with the performance of the product if the marketing is to succeed. The second component of customer value is experiential or hedonic value (Smith and Colgate, 2007); the emotional experience that the products use evokes in the customer. The serious risks that people take when they get rhinoplasty are difficulty breathing, nose swelling and discoloration, nasal septal perforation (a hole in the nasal septum), and probably the most important risk the shallow patient is probably thinking: the unsatisfactory nasal appearance. One in particular that stands out is the use of satire throughout both Gulliver s Travels , which tells the story of a series of voyages of Lemuel Gulliver s published in 1726, and A Modest Proposal , where Swift uses the idea of cannibalism to captivate his audience as well as focus on society s problems. This is also a different type of writing from Swift, who usually is always criticizing someone rather than showing empathy for them. Swift who chose not to make it known he was writing this satire, continues to bash England on page 509 by saying, I fortunately fell upon this proposal; which, as it is wholly new, so it hath something solid and real, of no expence, and little trouble, full in our own power; and whereby we can incur no danger in disobliging England: for this kind of commodity will not bear exportation; the flesh being of too tender a consistence, to admit a long continuance in salt; although, perhaps, I could name a country, which would be glad to eat up our whole nation without it . Here, once again Swift shows that England has no problem with the Irish starving and not being able to survive or make money as long as the rich and powerful are facing no hardships. Humans were also commonly represented (Berenguer 73). Prehistoric men also created abstract designs that have proven hard to identify. They are referred to as signs and a special nomenclature has been developed to better understand their meaning. Tectiforms are generally quadrangular shapes, with crossing vertical lines inside forming a trellis or mesh design. Tectiforms often appear near naturalistic figures of animals. Scutiforms have been thought to represent the female vulva. They are formed by red patches, often in the form of a comma or a key. Other types of signs are penniforms, ramiforms, and claviforms. The exact meanings of most of these signs remain unknown (Berenguer 82). The French scholar Leroi Gourhan formed a theory regarding the animalistic and abstract art representations. He believed all depictions revolved around the law of sex, noting that the philosophy of the prehistoric men concentrated all explanations on sex and sexual relations. • 36. Cosmia Analysis Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological aspects. The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a section to another. Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song, as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece, dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in ... In that sense it is a concrete example of the ways a society of good living can be built. The framework for this analysis is a discussion taking place globally among a certain branch of Leftist thought that believes that what is most progressive and achievable nowadays is to devise and construct improvements in the administration of capitalism in other words, to promote its good 7 side and another stance, which presents anti capitalism from a purely theoretical perspective, regardless of the political viability of their proposals. Before delving into the debate on the Yasuní ITT Initiative, in the first part of this article I would like to place the proposal to keep the oil underground in context, so ... • 39. The Cuban Economy In The US The door is now open to the possibility that both the United States and Cuba could benefit from restoring ties. This could be possible if Cuba and the Castro government are open to minimizing controls of their economy, including foreign trade, banking and business investments and tourism. The US will also need to take the right approach to engage Cuba and offer education and partnerships to help grow the Cuban economy, while supporting and respecting the Cuban Americans who have a personal stake in their home country s development. Some would argue that United States restrictions and sanctions on Cuba for the last 50 years, kept the US and other allies safe. There is much more to learn about what risk prevention and contingency plans will be put in place, if restoration between the two countries fails. Supporters of the decision might claim the decision to restore ties was a calculated risk. • 40. I Was Sick At An Alley, After The Funeral Essay I was sick in an alley, after the funeral. It was the last time I wore black, and I was making a mess of it. After sitting in the damp for a few hours I crawled out of that hellhole to what I thought was the nearest bar, and ordered two neat whiskeys one for me and the duke, just like we used to after the particularly stupid missions. A bowl of soup was put out in front of me, as it slowly dawned upon me that the bar I walked into was a diner, and the tender a waitress. Her eyes were a hazy hazel blue, sparkly grand from the last of the ludes in my system, and she smiled some pity to me. I went to the bathroom, cleaned myself up, and had the most goddammned delicious chicken noodle of my life. I put my last twenty on the counter, conjured up a smile, went on my way and that s how I started seeing Nadine Penny. It s amazing how obtuse I can be sometimes, as I went back to the next day, and the next. I kept ordering coffee, chatting her up, getting the story down and trying to tell what I could of mine. I felt compelled to be there I liked being around her, she was funny, quirky, fresh air from the usual choke and gloom and violence of mage s life. It was hard for me to come to terms with the fact that as I spent time with her, it was more than liking her company than I liking her. She was different from Danny, who s sometimes so in my head it s like talking to myself. We ve always been flat mates, roommates, and sometimes bedmates out of loneliness. But he was ... • 41. The Red Flags And Audit Risk Factors Introduction The first part identifies and analyses key red flags from the case. The section continues with ethical issues, which are further explained by the fraud triangle framework and continues with independency issues. Part 2 introduces alternative courses of action by Martirossian and continues with an analysis of his role. The section concludes with a personal choice of favorable alternatives. Finally, the last section concludes the main aspects. Part 1 1.1 Red Flags and Audit Risk Factors AMRE s executives had incentives to keep the stock price on a high level The negative profit projections could have triggered a pressure situation for the executives, thus Koornhof and Du Plessis (2000) identified that an increasing financial pressure on a company s management to report favourable results on a constant basis is the main reason for deliberately misstating financial statements. Furthermore, companies which are facing financial distress are more likely to commit fraud (Albrecht et al., 2012, p. 147). According to AICPAAU Section 314 (2006), it is important for Price Waterhouse to understand the entity and its environment, in order to evaluate risks of material misstatement. Furthermore, it is their legal obligation (Arens et al., 2012, p. 131). In the audit planning stage, Price Waterhouse could have conducted analytical procedures, in order to compare the entity s financial information with anticipated results of AMRE, such as budgets or forecasts (AICPA, AU C ... • 43. Analysis Of The Umar Abdullah Johnson Theory Of Black Male... The Umar Abdullah Johnson Theory of Black Male Alienation posits that a five stage cycle of institutional repression exists that has effectively sent more black men to jail than it has to college. Any attempt to reverse this war against America s most misunderstood population begins with a firm analysis of the process and its origins in boyhood. Americans, including Blacks, have become so desensitized to the pain of Black boys and so expectant of their failures that their pain is often overlooked and their achievements treated like occasional glitches in a system that has successfully made Black boys a permanent underclass in this country. But the color of a Negro s skin makes him easily recognizable, makes him suspect, converts him into a defenseless target (Richard Wright, Black Boy) Mis education often begins at birth. The average first day of life for Black children is when they become subjected to self hatred and self hating messages about themselves. They re often getting messages about themselves that is directly or indirectly coming from the white culture. From the first day they are brought into this world, the mis education and the self hatred towards our babies starts right then and there. It starts to increase in preschool because in preschool, for those that decide to send their child to preschool, this will be the first time that the Black boy comes face to face with the School guidelines of the American social order where he is expected to preform to ... • 44. How Juneteenth Changed America After doing a little bit of research I had found what Juneteenth actually was all about. Juneteenth or June 19th is the date that slavery officially ended all over America. specifically it ended back in 1865 when U.S. Army Union officer Gordon Granger arrived at Galveston, Texas to tell everyone that the war had ended and that all slavery was abolished. Interestingly enough, this was two years after Lincoln announced the Emancipation Proclamation. The reason why the new law was never really enforced in Texas however was because of the lack of union soldiers in the state. After this, many plantation slaves received there first taste of freedom and with this some went north to union states and others spread out to the surrounding states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the early 1900s Juneteenth began to fade from popularity as a holiday. This was mainly because classrooms and textbooks began to skip over the fact of General Granger s arrival in Galveston, Even today almost all textbooks don t even make a mention of the holiday. This is why I believe no one in our class knew about this date, I feel as though most schools probably think that its not important since they can just shorten the explanation to slavery was abolished with the emancipation proclamation . Another similar example to this is how schools teach that Columbus was the first to discovered America, when the reality is that thats the farthest thing from the truth. Also I suppose that the holiday is probably more prominent down south near Texas and in what was the confederate states. However, now going back to what lead to Juneteenth fading from popularity; with the great depression happening in the 30s many people could not take the time off of work to go and celebrate the holiday. However, over the next 50 years the holiday would makes different appearances and in 1980 was officially made into a state official holiday. Now, Junetheenth seems to be spreading all over the country with different committees popping up all over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
