Nonmoral Nature Gould Summary
Throughout Nonmoral Nature , Gould explains that we need to look at nature without personifying it
or putting human values on it. He believes that those who approach a scientific situation with a pre
established view in mind are preventing the kind of objectivity and fairness that scientific examination
is supposed to produce. Gould explains that the existence of what seems to be evil in nature creates an
argument between scientists and creationists. Many phenomena that occur in nature seem to be wrong
or disturbing, and go against the idea that God creates everything and that everything is benevolent.
One such creature is the ichneumon wasp. The ichneumon wasp is the stuff of nightmares; the larva

Military Of The Byzantine Empire Essay
Military and Weaponry of the Byzantine Empire In the year 330 A.D., a new capital of Rome under
the command of Emperor Constantine I would be founded. It would become a dominant power that
would conquer and progress for the next nine centuries, and according to the author Frederic Harrison,
it would remain a solid unit in which its foundation would rarely be broken (Harrison, 7). Emperor
Constantine would choose to position the new capitol between the areas of Europe and Asia Minor,
located on a narrow water passage that would stretch from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean.
According to an article I found dedicated to the Military of The Byzantines, it stated that this new
capitol known as Constantinople would become one of the most tremendous cities but would also
become home to one of the greatest civilizations the world has ever known, The Byzantine Empire (
Military of the Byzantines , 2015). As the Byzantine Empire began its expansion, it would take control
of multiple countries along the way such as Italy, Greece, Egypt and several more. To take control of
these once dominating regions of the world it would take an incredibly strong ... Show more content

It came to be that one of the main weapons of the Byzantine military was that of spying on their
enemies and gathering extremely specific and precise information on their movement and
whereabouts. This became such an important factor to them that there was a dedicated part of the
emperors administration solely devoted to gathering information on the enemy and relaying it to the
forces out in the field ( Military of the Byzantines , 2015). The Byzantine army was by no means one
of few weapons as they used not only physical objects to dominate opponents but they also used
speed, efficiency and most undoubtedly their minds to out think and out smart any enemy they came

Griswold Vs Connecticut Case Analysis
Feminist recognized the opportunity the pill gave to gaining equality with men and disputed laws that
provided contraceptives for only married couples. Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965 and Massachusetts
v. Baird in 1972 are two cases that helped to increase the availability of contraceptives in the United
States. In the case of Griswold v. Connecticut a lawyer was convicted by the state of connecticut for
giving contraceptives to a married couple. The Connecticut law that prohibited the use of birth control
stated:
Any person who uses any drug, medicinal article or instrument for the purpose of preventing
conception shall be fined not less than fifty dollars or imprisoned not less than sixty days nor more

rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. The third and fourth
amendment provided protection against all governmental invasions of the sanctity of a man s home
and the privacies of life (Griswold v. Connecticut 143). The Massachusetts v. Baird caused an
extension of the previous case to unmarried women. In this case William Baird was convicted of
distributing contraceptives to an unmarried women. This case was also overturned by the Supreme
Court for reason of privacy. The ruling of these cases was a cause for celebration in the women s rights
movement (Wood). The supreme court decision helped many couples with family planning as they
were now able to decide on the number of children they wanted and also when they wanted to become
pregnant. With every right comes responsibility. Therefore with new contraceptive rights came

English 101 Writing Techniques
Writing an essay in its entirety is challenging to some and to others it may not be. The key is to learn
the dos and do nots when writing an essay. Today, there is still confusion on what English writers
should say to get their point across and do it effectively without any problems. The usual English 101
writer has difficulty with 3 techniques. They include taking the most common side, the use of pat
expressions, and the use of colorless words. The first reason that many English students struggle with
is taking the most common side than the less popular side. Many students pick the most common side
because it is the easy way out . They usually do not take the less common side due to not having
anything to say on the topic or it is too challenging

Self Reliance Is Beneficial Or Beneficial
An issue regarding thinking has been on the importance of self reliance, the notion of relying on
oneself for ideas and knowledge. Some people argue that self reliance is harmful. From this
perspective, self reliance generates bad thoughts and ideas, and people should conform to society
instead. However, others argue that self reliance is extremely important for society. Ralph Waldo
Emerson, a main proponent of this view, says that To believe your own thought, to believe that what is
true for you in your private heart is true for all men that is genius (1). According to this view, relying
on one s own ideas is genius, and it is much smarter to practice self reliance rather than conform to
society s ideas. In sum, then, the issue is whether self reliance is beneficial or not beneficial. My view
is that self reliance is beneficial. Though I concede that at times it may be a good idea to agree with
the majority, I still maintain that one s own ideas are much better than those of the majority almost all
of the time. Although some people think that the majority opinion is usually correct, I claim that the
notion of self reliance is beneficial because individuals should rely on their own knowledge gained
from life experience to create new and better ideas, which cause society to move forward and become
better than it was before.
Self reliance is beneficial because individuals create ideas that are better compared to those of the
majority. Emerson explains the importance of

Agricultural Revolution Vs Open Field System
Pranav Muthuraman Period 1 Crites Chapter 17 AP Euro Questions The agricultural revolution
included several inventions and ideas like enclosures, crop rotations, and various tools made to make
farming more efficient in England and Netherlands but spread to the rest of Europe as well after the
success of these inventions led to more food and less disease. First, an enclosure is a private plot of
land owned by the landlord who hires landless workers to tend to the crops and animals on the land.
This system is considered an improvement compared to the open field system because it allows the
idea of crop rotation to take place. Crop rotations was the planting of different crops over different
cycles to maintain the nitrogen and other minerals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slave trade impacted africa because that was the major source of slaves used in the Americas and
throughout Europe. African people were abducted or sold by their chiefs to the Europeans to become a
slave for the rest of their lives. The slaves were brought from Africa for very high prices and taken to
Europe where they were sold for even higher and then taken to the Americas to work in plantations,
farms, and houses. The trade impacted the Americas because that s where many of the new slaves
were being sold to in order to work on the new farms and plantations there. The slaves were the reason
that colonists were able to make profits in the colonies. The use of slaves was abolished in 1807 due to
the decrease of the need for slaves in foreign countries and the increase in the belief that the use of

Life Cycle Of Supernova Stars
Our sun is halfway through its life cycle and based on the studies of the stars, when it reaches the last
stages of its life it will go supernova destroying Earth, but that won t happen in about 5 billion years.
Supernovas are the explosion of a star when it reaches the end of its life. There are two ways a star can
go supernova. The first way or a Type I supernova occurs in the Binary system which is when two
stars orbit the same point. The two stars are a white dwarf and a red giant. A white dwarf is a small
dense star that is around the size of a planet and a red giant is a star at its last stages of life. If these
two stars are close enough, matter will be transferred to the white dwarf from the red giant. When the
star s core reaches its limit of matter, a thermonuclear detonation will occur leaving nothing behind
unless there were leftover elements in the white dwarf or there were elements made in the supernova
explosion. One of the elements made in the explosion is radioactive nickel. ... Show more content on

Nuclear fusion is an atomic reaction where atoms combine to form a bigger atom with less mass. The
most common nuclear fusion is when hydrogen nuclei forms helium nuclei. This occurs in stars that
are small such as our sun. When there is low amount in nuclear fuel a star then turns into a red giant as
its core grows smaller, denser, and hotter. Our sun will eventually turn into a red giant, theoretically
vaporizing Earth. Once the core has nothing to fuse but iron, it will immediately begin the final phase.
The temperature in the core rises over 100 billion degrees and then the star explodes. After a
supernova, all that s left of the star is a small, dense core called a neutron star. Also after the
explosion, a black hole

Introduction
Lactococcus lactis is a Gram positive bacterium commonly used to produce buttermilk and cheese. In
most cases they are known to produce Lactic acid. Traditionally regarded as a GRAS microbe, and
with its ability to produce lactic acid, it is one of the most important organisms used in the dairy
industry, used extensively in the early stages of production of several kinds of cheeses(Siezen,
Bayjanov et al. 2010). A good understanding of the genetic and enzymatic information of the cycles
that drive the production of lactic acid in these microbes is essential for the dairy industry.
The purpose of this report is to discuss about Fructose 1,6 Bisphosphate Aldolase Class II in L. lactis.
However, studies on several other bacteria like E. coli, Streptococcus sp. and other Lactococcus sp.
will also be used as reference containing similar versions of this enzyme taking part in their cycles.

The Baroque Era Essay examples
The Baroque Era
The Baroque era was a unique period in music that began during the 1600 s and ended around 1750.
The word baroque is define by Merriam s Collegiate Dictionary as, of, relating to, or having the
characteristics of a style of artistic expression prevalent esp. in the 17th century that is marked
generally by use of complex forms, bold ornamentation, and the juxtaposition of contrasting elements
often conveying a sense of drama, movement, and tension. The word baroque has been used to
indicate paintings, poems, architecture, literature, and all else that is dynamic and astonishing.

Thomas church in Leipzig. This was a demanding job in which Bach composed canatas for the St.
Thomas and St. Nicholas churches, conduct the choirs, oversee the musical activities of numerous
municipal churches, and teach Latin in the St. Thomas choir school. Bach remained at his post in
Leipzig until his death in 1750. Although he excelled his forbears and contemporaries, he did not
receive the respect he deserved until after his death. Bach is now regarded as one of the greatest
composers of all composers and is a source of inspiration for musicians.
While Bach s musical career centered around Germany, Antonio Vivaldi was the son of a professional
violinist whose musical career cantered in Italy. Born on March 4, 1678, Vivaldi was a virtuoso
violinist and composer whose works included over 500 concertos.
Vivaldi s output was enormous. It is said that he invented ritornello form. If he did not invent this, he
was the first to use this technique. In 1703, Vivaldi began an on and off relationship with the Ospedale
della Pieta, a home for the female offspring of noblemen and their mistresses. Vivaldi remained
working this post for much of his life. He did, however, take leave to compose many of his famous
operas such as Ottone in villa, his first opera.
Baroque music symbolized a changing in the times. From the early period, when Bach introduced his
rich polyphonic concertos and excelled as a virtuoso organist and composer. The evolution of music

Catch 22 Dialectical Journal
1. Initially upon reading this book, I found it to be very strange. The progression of the story doesn t
follow an exactly linear path and the narrator often digresses and goes in circles. This makes the story
very hard to follow in the beginning. However once I had adjusted to this style of writing, I found the
book to be quite interesting. Despite the fact that this story is about war, it manages to be humorous at
times, and all of the characters are well written despite the fact that they were very exaggerated. This
story caused me to actually react emotionally at several points, especially at points when certain
characters like Mcwatt or Nately died in such tragic ways. I remained interested in the story the entire
way through, and was only disappointed by the fact that not a single character who acted and an
antagonist was punished in any way. 2. The story Catch 22 is written in ... Show more content on

Orr was so small and ugly. Who would protect him if he lived. (Heller,387) This passage is right after
Yossarian returns from the hospital after being shot in the leg. He asks Dobbs to kill the Colonel so
that the missions won t be raised anymore, but Dobbs refuses since he has no more missions to fly.
When Yossarian returns to his tent, Orr is there working on the faucet for his stove again. Yossarian
tells him to stop, but Orr says he needs to finish before the winter so Yossarian can have a warm tent
even if he isn t around. After talking about how Orr had been shot down every mission, Yosarian
began to worry for Orr. He expresses a desire to protect a person who he cares about and views as
vulnerable, which is something that most people can relate to. There are so many things in the world
that could hurt the people we love, and we can t do anything to stop most of them. Even if Orr
survives the war, he ll be vulnerable to so many things, and this makes Yossarian profoundly upset. He

What Does The Room Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
The Masque of the Red Death
Edgar Allan Poe s short story, The Masque of the Red Death , is the tale of a young selfish prince who
is trying to escape the Red Death by secluding himself and 1,000 of his closest friends. The Red Death
is a horrible, and highly contagious, disease that causes the pores of the skin to ooze blood until death.
What makes the story so appealing is the irony and symbolism behind the castle and the rooms in
which the prince designs. Although Edgar Allan Poe is not known for his use of symbolism, he does
portray quite a few different symbolic examples of life and death in The Masque of the Red Death .
Although there are many different examples of symbolism in The Masque of the Red Death , the
example that sticks out the most is in the design of the rooms within the castle. A large portion of this
writing is focused on the colors of the seven rooms and what is held within them. The author first
points out how there are seven rooms; all set up differently then most castles. The second piece of ...

One of the most ironic situations in this story is in the end, Prospero runs through all of the rooms to
reach the crasher of his party. When Prospero finally reaches the black room, which most are scared of
because of the horrifying red glow, he randomly drops dead. Lori Garrett Hatfield says,
Poe s most prolific use of color in the story is his use of both red, which to him symbolized terror,
horror, an ending of life; and black, which symbolized death and destruction. The final room, the red
and black room, faces west, which represents the setting sun. The mummer the figure in the mask
representing death is dressed all in black. Hatfield s quote can help to support the theory that Poe
purposely chose to make Prospero run through all of the rooms and into the room of

In India pre natal sex selection and infanticide accounted for the pre natal termination and death of
half a million girls per year over the last 20 years. In the Republic of Korea, 30 percent of pregnancies

Worldwide, one in three women will be sexually assaulted or raped in her lifetime while only one in

alive in all countries. In America, a girl may be asked what she was wearing at the time of the attack,
if she was drunk, if she had been flirting, or about past sexual endeavors. Instead of focusing on the
attacker, rape is often blamed on the victim. This mantra places more power into the hands of the
attacker with less and less women coming forward to state attacks. Shaming and discrediting the
victims, leaves society to feel the attack was normal therefore downplaying the severity. Rape culture
teaches women that they are only objects of desire, that the attacker couldn t help himself and that was
okay, or that she led it on. These ideals place women under men and leave them feeling

Why Adults Are Better Learners
Why adults are better learners than kids (So NO, you re not too old)
Kids are great! I was an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher for several years in several

language.
Of course, who of us doesn t want to go back to our childhood, when things were simpler and the
world was full of endless possibilities (which too many people claim it somehow isn t any more...)?
Along these lines, one of my favourite songs in the world is a Brazilian one about never losing touch
with your childhood.
So it s no wonder we want them to pounce on any advantages they have now to do something better,
which they may lose out on later.
This is why when some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Scapegoating In Society
Scapegoating in Society In Bill Moyers interview with Margaret Atwood, she states When societies
come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for essentially human
sacrifices (?). A scapegoat is a person or a group of people who are punished for the mistakes of
others. In the history of our society, scapegoats have been both necessary and important. The reason
for this is because it unites people and can be seen as a temporary solution to problems that a society
may be facing. Is it easier to get rid of individuals or groups of people than it is to solve the underlying
problem? History shows that it is common for scapegoating to be used especially under stressful
situations. Psychologically uncomfortable feelings such as anger, frustration, envy, guilt, and fear are
projected onto another person or group. This is the human ego at work. Scapegoating has been a part
of our history and although it was more barbaric in the past, as a society we still express the same
wants and feelings in different ways. For example, in ancient society, humans and animals were
sacrificed after a disaster in hopes that the community would avoid further punishment from the gods.
In the bible days, the people sacrificed goats and lambs as a cleansing for their sins. Abraham was
asked to sacrifice his only son Isaac, he was to be used as a scapegoat to prove Abraham s love for
God. In the end, God provided Abraham with a sacrificial lamb instead. This is one

Essay about The Nature of God and Morality in The Bible
Religious texts have been one of the main sources for laws and social customs since the conception of
organized religion. Each religious text provides its followers with a code of conduct they are expected
to apply to themselves, their actions, and their institutions. This code of conduct applies to the
individual, as well as to the government and society to within which the people exist, and ultimately
defines what a just society is in the context of that religion. Using stories and proverbs this code of
conduct, and thus just society , is not only set, but also shown in examples. In The Bible, the essence
of a just society is laid out within passages that serve as the laws , including Deuteronomy, and the

The very first value presented with the story of Adam and Eve and the tree of knowledge is that of
obedience to a higher power, in this case God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they were
punished by banishment from the Garden of Eden, as well as a formidable curse To the woman he
said, I will greatly multiply the pain of your childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet
your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you. And to Adam he said, ...cursed is the
ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life...(p.3 ch.3 16) In punishing
Adam the severity of the transgression of disobedience to God is shown, and thus it is implied that
obedience to a higher power is a quality favorable to an ideal society. Similarly, in the story of Cain
and Abel, Cain is cursed and exiled for the murder of his brother (p.4 ch.4 8). Thus, the act of murder
is condemned in an ideal society. In this manner, the stories within The Bible serve as a manner in
which the qualities of an ideal society are presented.
In The Bible there are multiple ideal societies which are presented, each denoted by the God s
approval of that society and its leader. One of these societies is that portrayed in the story of Saul. In
this story Samuel, a prophet of God, is given the task of revealing Saul, the ruler who is specified

Healthcare Comparison of the Usa and Nigeria
Four Main Differences between the healthcare systems in Nigeria and the USA.
Paul Fortune
College of Nursing After living in my native country, Nigeria for nearly twenty years of my life, I had
the opportunity to relocate to the United States of America to live with my Dad while pursuing a
career in Nursing. On getting to the United States of America or the USA as it is commonly called, I
discovered how lovely and different the country really is. The USA was a lot different from what I had
heard from stories back home in Nigeria. The previous three years, since January 2009 to be precise,
has provided me first hand experience of some major differences between my country of origin and
the United States of America. In comparison, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The buses run on a strict schedule most of the time; many are spaced out between every thirty minutes
to an hour. An alternative to riding the bus was catching a cab which was expensive. This
transportation process is very different from Nigeria where there is always a bus or taxi running by the
streets looking for passengers to pick up, most transporting up to four different and unrelated
passengers at the same time. Often the maximum amount of time a person would have wait to catch
either a cab or bus is five minutes. Nigerian cabs usually have a fixed price form one stop to another,
and most of the time prices can be bargained down.
Thirdly, the other major difference in between the United States of America differs from Nigeria is the
Climate. In United States of America there are four seasons in a year namely fall, summer, spring and
winter. Winter starts from December through February, and then comes spring which starts from
March through May, followed by summer from June through august and finally fall/ autumn which
start from September through November. While in Nigeria we have just two season comprising of the
raining and dry season (harmattan). The raining season usually begins around February or march and
last till around September. In September the dry season kick in and last through January. It snows in
United States of America while there has never been a record of snow in Nigeria.

Constantine and His Effect on Christianity
Constantine and his effect on Christianity When we look back at Christianity over the years, there are
several people who are remembered for their impact on the religion. The first most important figure
was Jesus Christ. However, if we travel forward a bit, into the 4th Century we come across
Constantine. Historians agree that Constantine served as an important component in the spread of
Christianity. Although he spread the religion in a massive way, others wonder if his methods were
more harmful then anything. In this paper I will be discussing Constantine in his rise to power and his
impact on Christianity. Constantine provided a mean for the word of God to be spread, which is a
major benefit. However, He also used violence and hate as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Constantine s Porphyry Column, Constantine brutally murdered his son and wife. These
acts were directly against the Christian church, which gave the people of the Roman Empire an
inaccurate portrayal of the word of God. Many historians also believe that Constantine s acceptance of
Christianity was rooted in his hatred for the Jewish People. He used his negativity of Judaism as a way
to promote his new laws. Many of his new laws had Christian Characteristics. He believed that these
new laws would help him to dominate his people. Despite the fact that he gave Christians legal
freedom to practice their religion, he made them feel subordinate. This is a crucial flaw in the strategy
of Constantine. It removes the genuine nature of his acceptance. Because of this his actions are viewed
as blasphemy rather than something to be celebrated. This is largely due to the fact that he accepted
Christianity in the Roman Empire for selfish reasons. Because of his violent methods and selfish
ruling, Constantine hurt Christianity s image among the Roman people. Besides Constantine s hunger
for power, there was another detrimental flaw in his strategy for the spread of Christianity. According
to many historians, Constantine did not actually believe in the Christian religion. Although he made it
a priority to spread Christianity through the Roman Empire, He continued to worship the Sun God.
According to The Impact of Constantine on Christianity there was,

Jane Austen Pride And Prejudice Analysis
After reading the first 50 pages of Pride and Pride as well as Foster s How to Read Novels Like a
Professor, I expect for the book to continue having long and complex sentences that focus on the
moral of a wealthy family having their daughters married to wealthy men while maintaining a mature
and manner like behavior. Austen uses a serious tone that portrays the values during the 19th century
while still mocking the measure in which people took. Although there isn t a first person narrator, the
protagonist and her family possesses a superior attitude filled with pride making me believe they ll be
that way for the story. They have the role that is the importance of appearances and behavior towards
other nobles. When the Bennets were on their way to introduce themselves to Mr.Bingley Elizabeth

Since Pride and Prejudice takes place year before the 21st century, people had different values and
moral in which may or may not still be true today, making any text be arguable. This helps the reader
interact with the characters and the author for her beliefs. Using context clues and critical thinking, we
should be able to understand if the Jane Austen is closer to one or all character in addition to the
events that make them improve. With so much detail to everything, although it can cause repetitive
boredem, it becomes significant to the mood it s trying to build up. We are expected to know higher
level text such as The perpetual commendations of the lady, either on his and writing , on the evenness
of his lines, or on the length of his letter, with the perfect unconcern with which her praises were
received, formed a curious dialogue, and was exactly in union with her opinion of each. (30). With the

Hiv And The Treatment Of Hiv
Intro: There have been 30 drugs approved to treat Hiv, but currently there are no cures for this virus.
The treatment for Hiv can help people live with the virus while taking care of your physical, mental
health, and overall well being. Starting treatment as soon as possible it can help your health
circumstances and strengthen your immune system. Getting tested for HIV is very important to
decrease the spread of the virus and save many lives.
Getting tested to know your status in order to avoid illnesses is important.
The growth of new infections continues to pose serious health problems/risk. Today in America there
are 1.2 million people who are infected with HIV. Out of the 1.2 million people, twenty percent of
them are unaware of their HIV status. In the event of the possibility of exposure or contamination of
HIV it is smart to get tested regularly to not infect others or get early treatment. You can reduce your
risk by getting tested early often. Early detection can lead to a better treatment and a greater outcome
for a longer life expectancy. You should get tested if never got tested before. The centers of disease
control and prevention recommends that you should get tested at least once a year if you participate in
activities that can cause Hiv infection.
HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV is an infection. Many infections may cause the

Gay Justice In Plato s Encouragement For Gay Rights
Plato s Encouragement for Gay Rights
In Plato s Republic, several competing explanations of justice are offered. First, we hear
Thrasymachus s account of justice in Book I, as being the advantage of the stronger. We then receive
Glaucon s explanation of justice in Book II: the agreement between men to act just in order to avoid
the pain of being on the receiving end of an unjust act. Finally, Socrates provides us with the best
definition of justice, saying that justice is the result of three specific classes performing their function
within a city in order for the collaboration to conclude in self sufficiency. Socrates s definition of
justice outshines those of Thrasymachus and Glaucon because he takes into account that not every
person is the same, but everyone is equal. Socrates s refutations of both Thrasymachus and Glaucon
help completely shape his argument of what justice is when it comes to Book 4. Socrates made his
definition of justice general enough to where it accounted for everyone in the city. As long as
everyone performed the duty they were naturally capable of, they were just.
I am taking three explanations of justice mentioned in Plato s Republic to talk about the injustice
toward the gay community and my personal encounter of the unjust society with being seriously
involved with a woman of color. Ever since I was little, I knew I was attracted to the same sex, but I
remained too afraid to act on my feelings. I desperately desired to be accepted and considered

Energy Star Research Paper
The Energy Star program estimate that most people could save money on their AC bills by ridding
their home of air leaks. Most older houses have large and small cracks in the foundation, roof and
walls. These cracks could be small or gaping holes. Most people might only notice large holes, but
some cracks cannot be seen without a magnifying glass.
After locating the air leaks, the technician will seal the cracks with a caulk or foam. An HVAC
technician can find leaks with a blower and infrared cameras. A blower is a large fan that is installed in
the doorway, and the fan has a device that can measure the amount of air flowing through the home.

When the garage door is closed, there should not be any openings around the sides, bottom or top of
the garage door. The technician can apply PVC molding to the cracks. The molding will seal the gap
between the door and the frame.
If the garage has an uneven floor, the technician can apply a brush seal. It will prevent dirt and water
from penetrating the floor. The most durable seals are made from nylon and aluminum.
Weather stripping can keep your garage warm during the winter months and cool during the summer
months. Since your garage will be warmer, you will not have to waste time waiting for your car to
heat up.
It is going to be a hot and long summer, and your air conditioner will be forced to work hard if your
home is not properly insulated. When an HVAC technician finishes weather stripping your windows
and doors, you will save money on your AC bills. Do not wait until the summer to take action. You
can start saving money on your electric bills today. An experienced HVAC technician can help you
reduce your energy consumption and lower your carbon footprint. You will be amazed by how much
money you save every month.

Childcare Breakdowns In The Workforce
The labor force of the United States has changed drastically over the last forty years. According to the
Department of Labor, in 2012, 64% of woman with children under the age of six are in the labor force.
While only 34% of mothers were working in 1970 (Gullekson, Griffeth, Vancouver, Kovner, Cohen,
2014). Furthermore, in 1974, 80% of kids under the age 17 were cared for by a parent (Morrissey
Warne, 2011). Given this dramatic increase of mothers in the workforce, there is a considerable
amount of time missed by the working parent. On average, American working parents miss nine days
of work per year and that number increases to thirteen as the child moves through daycare and into
elementary school. Breakdowns in childcare cost businesses three billion dollars annually
(Shellenback, 2004). Given these staggering numbers the demand for reliable and affordable childcare

Marketing And Sustainability From The Perspective Of...
Marketing cannot be defined by a single aspect. Marketing is formulated by the approach of satisfying
customer s wants and needs, segmentation, targeting and positioning and meeting organizations
objectives. To function effective marketing is to create awareness, market research and create a desire
for a product or service to name a few. Every person in an organization is responsible for marketing.
Drucker (1954) stated that Marketing is not only much broader than selling. It is the whole business
seen from the point of view of the final result, that is, from the customer s point of view. Concern and
responsibility for marketing must, therefore, permeate all areas of the enterprise.
The aim of this report is to critically analyse Marketing and sustainability from the perspective of
future decision makers by D. Pantelic, M Sakal and A Zenhetner (2016). In doing so, clearly defining
and explaining what is meant by the term sustainability . Critically evaluating the results presented

The Aviation Fever After The World War I
James Dutch Kindelberger, a member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, played a pivotal role in
American aviation. Kindelberger was born in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1895, 20 years before the
first heavier than air flight by the Wright brothers. After attending only one year of high school, Dutch
dropped out to become a steel mill apprentice. After experiencing the brutal hard work of the steel
mill, he decided to go back to school learn drafting at Carnegie Institute of Technology, which would
prove to be a useful skill in his future in avionics. Kindelberger first caught the aviation fever after an

largest impacts came during the inter war years and World War II. While working as a mid tier
draftsman and designer with the Martin Company, he helped with the design of the illustrious Martin
Bombers which were a series of superior bombers used towards the end of World War I. The Martin
Bombers had new some never before seen features such as closed cockpits, rotating guns and

for bombers at the time thus leading to other bomber designs being obsolete. Then, with his
experience at Martin, Kindelberger was able to move over to the Douglas Aircraft Company where his
genius really began to shine through. With Douglas Kindelberger designed seventy one models for
both military and civil use. One of his greatest accomplishments was the creation timeless DC series.

Comparing Enrique s Journey And The Little Prince
Throughout both Enrique s Journey by Sonia Nazario and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint

Honduras, attempts to leave his home country and make it across the Mexican American border. The
Little Prince tells the story of his travels to a stranded aviator in the desert after falling to planet Earth.
While each story may seem very different on a surface level, structurally they are very much the same.

  • 2. Nonmoral Nature Gould Summary Throughout Nonmoral Nature , Gould explains that we need to look at nature without personifying it or putting human values on it. He believes that those who approach a scientific situation with a pre established view in mind are preventing the kind of objectivity and fairness that scientific examination is supposed to produce. Gould explains that the existence of what seems to be evil in nature creates an argument between scientists and creationists. Many phenomena that occur in nature seem to be wrong or disturbing, and go against the idea that God creates everything and that everything is benevolent. One such creature is the ichneumon wasp. The ichneumon wasp is the stuff of nightmares; the larva are planted inside of a caterpillar or other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Military Of The Byzantine Empire Essay Military and Weaponry of the Byzantine Empire In the year 330 A.D., a new capital of Rome under the command of Emperor Constantine I would be founded. It would become a dominant power that would conquer and progress for the next nine centuries, and according to the author Frederic Harrison, it would remain a solid unit in which its foundation would rarely be broken (Harrison, 7). Emperor Constantine would choose to position the new capitol between the areas of Europe and Asia Minor, located on a narrow water passage that would stretch from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. According to an article I found dedicated to the Military of The Byzantines, it stated that this new capitol known as Constantinople would become one of the most tremendous cities but would also become home to one of the greatest civilizations the world has ever known, The Byzantine Empire ( Military of the Byzantines , 2015). As the Byzantine Empire began its expansion, it would take control of multiple countries along the way such as Italy, Greece, Egypt and several more. To take control of these once dominating regions of the world it would take an incredibly strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This became such an important factor to them that there was a dedicated part of the emperors administration solely devoted to gathering information on the enemy and relaying it to the forces out in the field ( Military of the Byzantines , 2015). The Byzantine army was by no means one of few weapons as they used not only physical objects to dominate opponents but they also used speed, efficiency and most undoubtedly their minds to out think and out smart any enemy they came ... Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965 and Massachusetts v. Baird in 1972 are two cases that helped to increase the availability of contraceptives in the United States. In the case of Griswold v. Connecticut a lawyer was convicted by the state of connecticut for giving contraceptives to a married couple. The Connecticut law that prohibited the use of birth control stated: Any person who uses any drug, medicinal article or instrument for the purpose of preventing conception shall be fined not less than fifty dollars or imprisoned not less than sixty days nor more than one year or be both fined and imprisoned. Baird caused an extension of the previous case to unmarried women. In this case William Baird was convicted of distributing contraceptives to an unmarried women. This case was also overturned by the Supreme Court for reason of privacy. The ruling of these cases was a cause for celebration in the women s rights movement (Wood). Today, there is still confusion on what English writers should say to get their point across and do it effectively without any problems. The usual English 101 writer has difficulty with 3 techniques. They include taking the most common side, the use of pat expressions, and the use of colorless words. The first reason that many English students struggle with is taking the most common side than the less popular side. Many students pick the most common side because it is the easy way out . • 7. Self Reliance Is Beneficial Or Beneficial An issue regarding thinking has been on the importance of self reliance, the notion of relying on oneself for ideas and knowledge. Some people argue that self reliance is harmful. From this perspective, self reliance generates bad thoughts and ideas, and people should conform to society instead. However, others argue that self reliance is extremely important for society. Ralph Waldo Emerson, a main proponent of this view, says that To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men that is genius (1). According to this view, relying on one s own ideas is genius, and it is much smarter to practice self reliance rather than conform to society s ideas. In sum, then, the issue is whether self reliance is beneficial or not beneficial. My view is that self reliance is beneficial. Though I concede that at times it may be a good idea to agree with the majority, I still maintain that one s own ideas are much better than those of the majority almost all of the time. Although some people think that the majority opinion is usually correct, I claim that the notion of self reliance is beneficial because individuals should rely on their own knowledge gained from life experience to create new and better ideas, which cause society to move forward and become better than it was before. Self reliance is beneficial because individuals create ideas that are better compared to those of the majority. Emerson explains the importance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, an enclosure is a private plot of land owned by the landlord who hires landless workers to tend to the crops and animals on the land. • 9. Life Cycle Of Supernova Stars Our sun is halfway through its life cycle and based on the studies of the stars, when it reaches the last stages of its life it will go supernova destroying Earth, but that won t happen in about 5 billion years. Supernovas are the explosion of a star when it reaches the end of its life. There are two ways a star can go supernova. The first way or a Type I supernova occurs in the Binary system which is when two stars orbit the same point. The two stars are a white dwarf and a red giant. A white dwarf is a small dense star that is around the size of a planet and a red giant is a star at its last stages of life. If these two stars are close enough, matter will be transferred to the white dwarf from the red giant. When the star s core reaches its limit of matter, a thermonuclear detonation will occur leaving nothing behind unless there were leftover elements in the white dwarf or there were elements made in the supernova explosion. Our sun will eventually turn into a red giant, theoretically vaporizing Earth. Once the core has nothing to fuse but iron, it will immediately begin the final phase. This was a demanding job in which Bach composed canatas for the St. Thomas and St. Nicholas churches, conduct the choirs, oversee the musical activities of numerous municipal churches, and teach Latin in the St. Thomas choir school. Bach remained at his post in Leipzig until his death in 1750. Although he excelled his forbears and contemporaries, he did not receive the respect he deserved until after his death. Bach is now regarded as one of the greatest composers of all composers and is a source of inspiration for musicians. While Bach s musical career centered around Germany, Antonio Vivaldi was the son of a professional violinist whose musical career cantered in Italy. Born on March 4, 1678, Vivaldi was a virtuoso violinist and composer whose works included over 500 concertos. Vivaldi s output was enormous. It is said that he invented ritornello form. If he did not invent this, he was the first to use this technique. In 1703, Vivaldi began an on and off relationship with the Ospedale della Pieta, a home for the female offspring of noblemen and their mistresses. Vivaldi remained working this post for much of his life. He did, however, take leave to compose many of his famous operas such as Ottone in villa, his first opera. The progression of the story doesn t follow an exactly linear path and the narrator often digresses and goes in circles. This makes the story very hard to follow in the beginning. However once I had adjusted to this style of writing, I found the book to be quite interesting. Despite the fact that this story is about war, it manages to be humorous at times, and all of the characters are well written despite the fact that they were very exaggerated. This story caused me to actually react emotionally at several points, especially at points when certain characters like Mcwatt or Nately died in such tragic ways. What Does The Room Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death The Masque of the Red Death Edgar Allan Poe s short story, The Masque of the Red Death , is the tale of a young selfish prince who is trying to escape the Red Death by secluding himself and 1,000 of his closest friends. The Red Death is a horrible, and highly contagious, disease that causes the pores of the skin to ooze blood until death. What makes the story so appealing is the irony and symbolism behind the castle and the rooms in which the prince designs. Although Edgar Allan Poe is not known for his use of symbolism, he does portray quite a few different symbolic examples of life and death in The Masque of the Red Death . Although there are many different examples of symbolism in The Masque of the Red Death , the example that sticks out the most is in the design of the rooms within the castle. In America, a girl may be asked what she was wearing at the time of the attack, if she was drunk, if she had been flirting, or about past sexual endeavors. Instead of focusing on the attacker, rape is often blamed on the victim. This mantra places more power into the hands of the attacker with less and less women coming forward to state attacks. • 16. Scapegoating In Society Scapegoating in Society In Bill Moyers interview with Margaret Atwood, she states When societies come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for essentially human sacrifices (?). A scapegoat is a person or a group of people who are punished for the mistakes of others. In the history of our society, scapegoats have been both necessary and important. The reason for this is because it unites people and can be seen as a temporary solution to problems that a society may be facing. Is it easier to get rid of individuals or groups of people than it is to solve the underlying problem? History shows that it is common for scapegoating to be used especially under stressful situations. Psychologically uncomfortable feelings such as anger, frustration, envy, guilt, and fear are projected onto another person or group. This is the human ego at work. Scapegoating has been a part of our history and although it was more barbaric in the past, as a society we still express the same wants and feelings in different ways. For example, in ancient society, humans and animals were sacrificed after a disaster in hopes that the community would avoid further punishment from the gods. In the bible days, the people sacrificed goats and lambs as a cleansing for their sins. Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son Isaac, he was to be used as a scapegoat to prove Abraham s love for God. In the end, God provided Abraham with a sacrificial lamb instead. This is one ... Each religious text provides its followers with a code of conduct they are expected to apply to themselves, their actions, and their institutions. This code of conduct applies to the individual, as well as to the government and society to within which the people exist, and ultimately defines what a just society is in the context of that religion. The very first value presented with the story of Adam and Eve and the tree of knowledge is that of obedience to a higher power, in this case God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they were punished by banishment from the Garden of Eden, as well as a formidable curse To the woman he said, I will greatly multiply the pain of your childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you. And to Adam he said, ...cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life...(p.3 ch.3 16) In punishing Adam the severity of the transgression of disobedience to God is shown, and thus it is implied that obedience to a higher power is a quality favorable to an ideal society. Similarly, in the story of Cain and Abel, Cain is cursed and exiled for the murder of his brother (p.4 ch.4 8). Thus, the act of murder is condemned in an ideal society. In this manner, the stories within The Bible serve as a manner in which the qualities of an ideal society are presented. In The Bible there are multiple ideal societies which are presented, each denoted by the God s approval of that society and its leader. One of these societies is that portrayed in the story of Saul. Paul Fortune College of Nursing After living in my native country, Nigeria for nearly twenty years of my life, I had the opportunity to relocate to the United States of America to live with my Dad while pursuing a career in Nursing. On getting to the United States of America or the USA as it is commonly called, I discovered how lovely and different the country really is. An alternative to riding the bus was catching a cab which was expensive. This transportation process is very different from Nigeria where there is always a bus or taxi running by the streets looking for passengers to pick up, most transporting up to four different and unrelated passengers at the same time. Often the maximum amount of time a person would have wait to catch either a cab or bus is five minutes. The first most important figure was Jesus Christ. However, if we travel forward a bit, into the 4th Century we come across Constantine. Historians agree that Constantine served as an important component in the spread of Christianity. Although he spread the religion in a massive way, others wonder if his methods were more harmful then anything. These acts were directly against the Christian church, which gave the people of the Roman Empire an inaccurate portrayal of the word of God. Many historians also believe that Constantine s acceptance of Christianity was rooted in his hatred for the Jewish People. He used his negativity of Judaism as a way to promote his new laws. Many of his new laws had Christian Characteristics. He believed that these new laws would help him to dominate his people. Despite the fact that he gave Christians legal freedom to practice their religion, he made them feel subordinate. This is a crucial flaw in the strategy of Constantine. It removes the genuine nature of his acceptance. Because of this his actions are viewed as blasphemy rather than something to be celebrated. This is largely due to the fact that he accepted Christianity in the Roman Empire for selfish reasons. Because of his violent methods and selfish ruling, Constantine hurt Christianity s image among the Roman people. Besides Constantine s hunger for power, there was another detrimental flaw in his strategy for the spread of Christianity. According to many historians, Constantine did not actually believe in the Christian religion. • 26. Gay Justice In Plato s Encouragement For Gay Rights Plato s Encouragement for Gay Rights In Plato s Republic, several competing explanations of justice are offered. First, we hear Thrasymachus s account of justice in Book I, as being the advantage of the stronger. We then receive Glaucon s explanation of justice in Book II: the agreement between men to act just in order to avoid the pain of being on the receiving end of an unjust act. Finally, Socrates provides us with the best definition of justice, saying that justice is the result of three specific classes performing their function within a city in order for the collaboration to conclude in self sufficiency. Socrates s definition of justice outshines those of Thrasymachus and Glaucon because he takes into account that not every person is the same, but everyone is equal. Socrates s refutations of both Thrasymachus and Glaucon help completely shape his argument of what justice is when it comes to Book 4. Socrates made his definition of justice general enough to where it accounted for everyone in the city. As long as everyone performed the duty they were naturally capable of, they were just.
