Princess Diana s life
Princess Diana was a well know person to people all around the world. She was kind, sweet, and
honest to everybody she meets. Diana held many charity events; she was the president of Barnardo s
which is a charity for troubled children and also helped raise money for other charities such as the
AIDS Crisis Trust.(Sherry Beck PaProcki,62 63) Diana is a very nice person; she would go to
hospitals and sit with patients that didn t have any family that would come visit them so she went and
visited so they would know that they re not alone. Princess Diana was a very influential person in
history and had major contributions to the world. Diana Frank Spencer was born on July 1, 1961 at
7:45 p.m. to the parents of Johnnie Spencer and Frances Roche (Sherry Beck Paprocki, 19). Diana had
three siblings Sarah, Jane, and Charles; she is the second to youngest child (Sherry Beck Paprocki,
20). When Diana s Grandfather died, her father got the title of the Earl Spencer (8th) (Sherry Beck
Paprocki, 20). When Diana was six, her parents got a divorce and she moved with her mom, her mom
enrolled her in many private schools like West Heath but she was never any good at school. Diana had
a very lucky childhood, she grew up rich and even though her parents split her parents still had money
while other people had nothing at all (Sherry Beck Paprocki, 22 25). On July 29, 1981 Diana s life
changed forever, she was going to marry the Prince of Wales Charles Phillip

Tata Group Essay
This quote by Jamsetji Tata explains why the Tata group was so successful throughout history from a
simple trading company to a global conglomerate which makes more than makes more than US$
103.27 billion (2014) and employs more than 580,000 people throughout the world.
The foundation of the future Tata Group was laid in 1868 by Jamsetji Tata through the establishment
of a trading company in Bombay. This initial investment was followed by the acquisition of a
bankrupt oil mill in 1869 which, after being converted into a cotton mill, was sold to make profit and
enable him to undertake the first major industrial project of the Tata Group by setting up another
cotton mill in 1874, the Empress mill (named after the Empress of India, Queen Victoria). ... Show

It would be under his leadership that his father s ideas would be realized essentially with the
establishment of the conglomerates, Tata Steel (1907) and Tata Power (1911). Both constitute the core
of the present day Tata group. Moreover, Sir Dorab Tata also contributed to helping India s
educational system grow by creating the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 1911. This would
become one of the first of many centers of research and learning that would both support the Tata
group and enhance its development. In addition, the Tata group is also characterized by the way they
care for their employees. A perfect example of this would be, when in 1912, Tata Steel introduced an
eight hour working day even though it was not statutory in most industrialized nations. Under Sir
Dorab Tata s management, the Tata group, which already possessed three cotton mills and a luxury
hotel, now also included the largest private sector steel company as well as three electric companies

Caso Globalización de Cemex
PREGUNTAS

William Butler Yeats The Cap and Bells Essay
William Butler Yeats The Cap and Bells
William Butler Yeats s ballad The Cap and Bells depicts the behavior of love through an allegorical
account of actions between a jester and a queen. Through the use of many symbolic references, the
dramatic characters accurately reflect a lover s conduct. Referring to jester like men throughout many
of his works ( A Coat , The Fool by the Roadside , Two Songs of a Fool , The Hour Glass , etc.), Yeats
continually portrays the actions of humans as foolish many a times. Coming to him in a dream, The
Cap and Bells likely acquired its origin from the obsessive infatuation Yeats had with Maud Gonne.
Being an acclaimed actress, Yeats most likely perceived Gonne exceeding him in status; her ... Show

The garden is also important in that it was the first place of affection and romance between man and
woman (Eden). As the garden falls still , Yeats also depicts the harmony between nature and love; no
disturbances occur. Continuing, we read how the jester bade his soul rise upward. Here, the man is
offering his soul to rise to the queen who is above him both physically and in social status. It rises in a
straight blue garment until it reaches her window sill. With the color blue being indicative of hope and
truth, Yeats implies that the soul retains an outer covering of hope as it rises. The soul does not rise in
a curve like manner, but is instead straight, direct, and uninterrupted by any forces which may sway its
course. The window sill becomes symbolic of the queen s spirit. As the jester s soul rises to the ledge,
it hopes the queen s spirit will allow him to enter. As Yeats explains the owls who began to call ,
dualistic meanings develop; the obvious one being that night has fallen. On the contrary, this idea also
implies the symbolism behind the wisdom of the owl. In Webster s dictionary, call has an alternative
meaning of finding fault . Therefore, an attentive reader can distinguish that the owls are giving a wise
warning to the jester about giving his soul to the woman. Although Yeats does not directly state this
notion, his poetic hand constantly relates a simple idea into a

Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature
Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature
In the stories The Jewelry by Guy de Maupassant, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and The
Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the female characters are unequal and less important
than the men in society. The duties of women during this time period did not consist of much more
than seeing to her husband s needs and caring for the home and children. The authors show the lack of
independence women were allowed in the 1800s, especially in marriage. The stories express women s
cry for equality and their feelings of entrapment in their marriage. Each story elaborates on the
importance of social class in the 19th century, how women were presented in society, and how society

In the midst of her grieving, Mrs. Mallard pictures the time that is to come, when she will be able to
make all of her own decisions and will be given the freedom to live her life as she pleases. Suddenly,
she feels relieved more than she is upset. She knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind,
tender hands folded in death...but she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to
come that would belong to her absolutely (Booth 307). Her desire for freedom overcame the despair of
her husband s death. Chopin includes that Mrs. Mallard tried to fight off these ideas with her will
(Booth 307). Her embraced feelings of independence could have been viewed as forbidden. Although
she is excited by these thoughts, she tries to resist the pleasure she truly feels when she realizes the
freedom that she has gained. The words free, free, free! escaped from her mouth (Booth307). She
attempted to hold back the overwhelming desires for her own life. Perhaps she is hesitant to welcome
these feelings because of the public view on women s rights, and the potential consequences for those
who opposed such views. Despite the faithfulness and love Mrs. Mallard showed for her husband, the
extreme relief she felt in no longer having a marital obligation overpowered her feelings of sadness
and loss. At the end of the story, Mrs. Mallard s husband walked through her front door in the flesh,
but Mrs. Mallard s heart could not handle the excitement. The

Essay about The Dilemma of Immigration Philosophy
The legal and moral issues concerning immigration have been debated for countless of times since
their booming popularity during the 19th century. People who believe that it is morally wrong for a
country to deny immigration status argue that immigration promotes democracy, egalitarianism and
libertarianism. On the other hand, people who believe that countries have every right to deny people
who seek immigration argue that immigration taints the cultural roots of a country, weakens national
security and reduces the natural resources that would have been distributed to the original citizens of
the country.
To properly understand the philosophy of immigration, it is imperative to define immigration. Article

With this selection process, a country s distinctive culture will not be tainted and influence by outside
factors. After all, a distinctive culture is very easy to be seen as appealing.
Opponents of this argument however, say that people exaggerate the distinctiveness of one particular
culture. Opponents also argue that this line of argument borders on bigotry in a sense that proponents
of this argument fear change. After all, they ask, how different is American culture from other cultures
of the world.
Another increasingly popular moral and practical justification against immigration is that it
strengthens national security. Proponents argue that restricting or disallowing immigration will
disallow foreign terrorists to enter American soil.
Opponents however opined that disallowing immigration would only affect legal immigrants. That is
to say that the number of illegal immigrants would still remain stable. This point then is very relevant
because terrorists cannot be dissuaded by being involved in extralegal affairs. (Kukhatas, 2005)
Proponents of restrictive immigration laws also opine, that for a government to function properly and
for its people to be compassionates to compatriots, cultural roots must not be embellished or tainted.
This liberal nationalist approach therefore argues that states who limit immigration restrictively are
able to operate in that fashion because the citizens are more apt to be more cooperative with a

The Organization Of Armies During The Period Of 1789
The organisation of armies during the period of 1789 1945 changed drastically, with the increasing
devolvement of power and the introduction of army sections, such as Napoleon s corps system. These
changes were the main factor in the outcome of wars during the period, but only where the organised
army had effective command and control in place. Well organised armies could perform tactics better;
more easily carry out strategy and use transport more effectively to gain victory. Of all of these
elements, the most important strength of a well organised army was tactics. First, organised armies are
much more successful in tactics, allowing them to win battles. The organisation of armies allowed
flexibility and speed. For example, at Austerlitz, Napoleon purposefully exposed a weak flank, and
Davout s army plugged the gap at the last minute, resulting in three times as many Austrian casualties
as French. This tactic was repeated successfully by the French multiple times, due to the devolution of
command, allowing multiple small armies to co operate while achieving separate aims. Flexibility was
also seen in WW1, with the use of creeping barrage, which combined multiple weapons in a three
stage multi division assault. This was particularly effectively used by the German army in the
Ludendorff offensive, and quite clearly depended on organisation: previous attempts (particularly by
the allies) had ended in the second wave (infantry) being killed by the first wave (artillery).

Cultural Imperialism
Body Images, Eating Disorders, and Cultural Imperialism As society begins to grow a dependency on
media, particularly social media, more and more research is being conducted on the effects of this kind
of exposure on self esteem, body image, and more importantly eating disorders. As society becomes
codependent on the technology that has made life that easier, exposure to marketing techniques and
other social cues has increased and with that increase so has the negative perception of body image
increased. It is because of this growing tendency of humans to develop subconscious ideas of the
perfect body that this paper looks to answer the question of whether American media is portraying
these unhealthy images of a perfect body or perfect human to society. This causes several negative
tendencies from low self esteem to an array of mental eating disorders due to the dissatisfaction with
one s own body. It is the opinion of this paper that American media is in fact imprinting these ideas of
a perfect and unhealthy image of the human body onto the general public, whether it be knowingly or
unknowingly.
Method
The author reviews studies on the effects of ideal body images in the American media on the general
public, comments on these studies effects on both males and females, and outlines changes that must
be implemented to negate the negative effects on self esteem and the perception of body image.

The very first official NHL All Star Game was held a long, long time ago in the 1947 48 NHL season.
And many things have changed in those 62 years the format of the All Star Game, rules etc. But there
have also been unofficial ALL Star games, like the Hod Stuart Benefit All Star Game in 1908 between
Montreal Wanderers and the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association stars. It was something
similar to the modern All Star Games, but they were held for a beneficial reason. So this first game
was in honour of Hod Stuart who was a IPHL (International Professional Hockey League the
predecessor of NHL) player who had drowned just after winning the Stanley Cup. And til 1947 there
have been several more beneficial All Star Games like this.

Fin Position Lab Report
The worse thing that could happen is for you to sink on a ship. But with a submarine, that exactly
what you want! The purpose of my science fair project was to find out how the presence or absence of
a stabalazing fin will affect the movement and funcntion of the submarine. I was also trying to find out
what fin position is the best for the submarine to move properely as desired. My hypothesis was that
the submarine will need a fin to move and function properly, so that it doesn t go out of control. I also
think that the best position for the submarine is to put the fin in the centre of the bottle because it will
have an equal amount of buyoncy on both sides of the bottle. The controlles variables or the constants
(what I keep the same) in my experiment was the submarine bottle, the timer, propeller, tub, amount of
water in the tub, ruler, and the number of times I supn the rubber band to get the propller moving. ...

The way I measured the dependant variable (what I observe) using a timer to time how long the
submarine moves in the water. I also observed the movement of the submarine depending on the fin
position. The results of my experiment was that a submarine defientely needs a fin to function
properley. This is becuase wothout one, the submarine seems to move randomly without a specific
dorection. However, when a stabalizing fin is present, the submarine moves at a specific rate and
direction. I also found out that if you move the fin to the right, the bottle will turn right aswell, and
same goes for the left side. The more right/left you push the fin, the wider the turns get, while if you
move the fin a little, the turns are quite sharp. According to my experiment, the best position for the
stabalizing fin was in the middle of the bottle because the submarine seems to move at a normal

Essay Tetrapods
The early Devonian period is largely considered to be a world of a diverse array of lobe finned fish,
including lungfish, coelacanths, and bony fish. Over the course of time, vertebrates made evolutionary
strides with provided them with the ability to travel on land. Coelacanths developed a single boned
shoulder girdle, lungfish developed paired fins, and sauripterus developed the major structures on the
arm (humerus, radius, and ulna). As these developments progressed and environmental pressures were
amounting in aquatic environments, vertebrates began to venture onto land. Sometimes it was for
short excursions, sometimes a bit longer. A major step in vertebrate evolution was the advancement of

Many species are completely aquatic during the juvenile part of the lifecycle. For example, frogs have
to reproduce in water because amphibian eggs do not have the protection of the amniotic sac. As a
result, the adults must return to a water source to reproduce. As tadpoles grow into adults they form
limbs that allow them to walk on land. Because of the restriction to semi aquatic environment, the
tetrapod structure of amphibians is not as diverse as the other classes of tetrapods. However, there are
groups that deviate from the norm by a lot. Caecilians are limbless amphibians. At first glance they do
not look like tetrapods but the lack of limbs is a derived secondary characteristic. Their bodies have
adapted for burrowing in the ground. Reptiles, the next tetrapods to emerge, were a very successful
version of amphibians. As opposed to amphibians, reptiles did not require water for the reproduction
process they produced shelled amniotic eggs to protect their embryos from the environment. Due to
the reduced dependence on water, reptiles were able to explore many new environments and as a
result their limbs evolved in a variety of ways. Crocdylotarsians developed a normal ankle which
swings to the side when walking, making walking slightly more efficient. Dinosaurs developed a hole
in their hip socket that allowed them to stand upright and to move significantly faster. Another way

Desvenlafaxine Case Study
Answer: Desvenlafaxine is recommended for this patient among SSRI and SNRI. Because
desvenlafaxine is least affected by this patient s CYP2D6 poor metabolizer and CYP2C19 poor
metabolizer status among SSRI and SNRI, has no drug drug interaction with the current medications
and has better safety profile compared with other SSRI and SNRI. Rationale: Based on the
PharmGKB website and relative articles, the patient has CYP2D6 *4/*4 genotype means she is a poor
metabolizer of the CYP2D6 enzyme, CYP2D6 *4 allele has inactive CYP2D6 enzyme activity, she
has two inactive alleles resulting being a poor metabolizer of CYP2D6. Also, the patient has CYP3A4

Sertraline, citalopram, and escitalopram are mainly metabolized by CYP2C19. There are CPIC
guidelines for fluvoxamine and paroxetine regarding CYP2D6, also for citalopram, escitalopram,
sertraline regarding CYP2C19. These guidelines suggest the reduction of the dose or alteration of
medication if the patient has a poor metabolizer phenotype. Since this patient is a poor metabolizer for
both CYP2D6 and CYP2C19, patients may experience side effects from relevant SSRIs due to higher
plasma concentration, we may need to avoid using the above SSRIs. Additionally, she tried
paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline in the past which were all not successful, we would like to avoid
those as well. SNRI that approved to treat depression includes desvenlafaxine, duloxetine, and
venlafaxine. Among these SNRIs, venlafaxine is mainly metabolized by CYP2D6, desvenlafaxine is
mainly metabolized by conjugation and minor metabolized by CYP3A4, it is also an inhibitor of
CYP2D6. Duloxetine is mainly metabolized by CYP1A2 and CYP2D6. Based on the information

Faith as the Key to Survival Albert Einstein once said, Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination
will take you everywhere. Some individuals live their lives with strict adherence to logic, while others
benefit from the power of imagination. However, both, pragmatism and imagination, contain
advantages as well as disadvantages. In Yann Martel s novel, the story s protagonist, Piscine Patel, is a
religious follower of three religions, who strongly believes that religion is essential to having a sense
of imagination and that lack of faith leads to mere rationalism. Pi is a young man who survives 227
days adrift in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger, through the help of his trust and adherence to
religion. Without faith in religion and G d, Pi would not have been able to survive the terrible
circumstances such as continuous rainstorms, extreme hunger, thirst, loneliness and despair. Faith
allows him to suppress thoughts of fear, gives him peace of mind, and helps him form an affinity with
the Bengal tiger. The notion of faith is first introduced to readers when Pi is in the town of
Pondicherry and an elderly man says to him: I have a story that will make you believe in God. (Martel
2). This quote foreshadows the role religious devotion plays in Pi s life. As mentioned previously, Pi is
not only the story s protagonist, but also an achieved artist, storyteller, and believer in the notion that

The Velveteen Rabbit
As young children develop attachments to the parents who comfort them, so too do they develop
attachments to particular objects which they use to comfort themselves. An example of these close
relationships between children and stuffed animals can be found in Margery Williams The Velveteen
Rabbit. The protagonist of the story, after losing his china dog with which he had previously slept,
utilized his rabbit as a replacement. After a while, the boy became attached to the rabbit. He slept with
it every night, took it everywhere with him, and went so far as to take efforts to keep the rabbit
comfortable by designing a nest for him while he played. Although that particular story was fictional,

Ruff Ruff, however, could not handle such constant use for so many years. He became less sturdy and

closet in order to ensure that his condition did not worsen. Many children develop similar attachments
to objects which they use for comfort as I did. In Margery Williams children s book The Velveteen
Rabbit, this relationship is demonstrated when the protagonist s china dog gets lost and he sleeps with
his rabbit as a replacement. His relationship with his rabbit becomes increasingly close, however, the
overuse of the rabbit leads to the rabbit s condition worsening. In the case of many other children,
overuse is a significant factor which ultimately could lead to the end of their relationships with their
comfort objects. In The Velveteen Rabbit, although the rabbit s condition did worsen, in the end, his
relationship with the boy ended due to concerns related to bacteria. Although in my case, bacteria and
overuse were both prime concerns, as they are in many other relationships between children and
comfort objects, the prospect of the embarrassment which would have arisen had people realized that I
still slept with Ruff Ruff was the final factor that convinced me

Hamlet Film Vs Film Essay
Over the course of the past fifty years there have been many cinematic productions of Shakespeare s
Hamlet, some of which remain true to the text while others take greater liberties with the original
format. Director Kenneth Branagh s 1996 production of Hamlet was true to Shakespeare s work in that
the film s dialogue was delivered word or word as it is presented in the text. In contrast, Franco
Zeffirelli conducted his 1990 production of Hamlet in a much more liberal direction in which lines,
scenes and characters were omitted from the film. I argue that from the perspective of an individual
with moderate knowledge in Shakespearian literature, that the best film versions of Hamlet are those
that take the most liberties from the text. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the first and the third of the aforementioned changes that Zeffirelli made to the film have a minor
impact on the audience s understanding of the underlying themes that exist throughout the play.
In act 3 scene 3 Claudius performs his soliloquy which acts like a window into the true nature of
Claudius guilt. This excerpt of the play is the first time we encounter Claudius confess blame for the
crime against his brother. This self confession further demonstrates the guilt that Claudius exhibits in
act 3 scene 2 when Claudius flees the theater after Hamlet arranges a play reenacting the events of his
father s murder. As Claudius states on line 56, May one be pardoned and retain th offense? This line
depicts the true nature of Claudius guilt: He does not regret his actions, for his actions have granted
him My crown, mine own ambition and my queen. (3.2.55) Claudius is content with his gains, his
only guilt stems from the fact that he believes he will not go to heaven because of his actions.
Zeffirelli as opposed to Branagh shortens this soliloquy which causes a loss of perception into the
complex role that guilt plays throughout the story.
Like the presence of the theme of guilt, the film also neglects the theme of war. The character of
Fortinbras is important because his invasion of Poland brings forth the literal act of war, which is a

Psychological And Emotional Effects Of Psychological Abuse
Psychological abuse, which includes verbal and emotional abuse, is a widespread and common
problem in our society. Mary Jo Fay (2007), states that verbal abuse, includes name calling, shouting
and yelling. She also goes on to say that emotional abuse: includes blaming, accusing and restricting
your freedom like preventing you from using the phone or talking to family members, or recording the
mileage on your car to see if you ve driven somewhere not allowed. Attempting to confuse you
mentally (Types of Abuse section).
What makes psychological abuse such a large issue is that it is not recognized by most as a true form
of abuse. Therefore, the victims of psychological abuse cannot get the help that they need. This is such
a critical problem because the only way for the victims of psychological abuse to be helped is for the
bystanders of this crime to recognize and take a stand for the victims. The everyday people in the lives
of psychologically abused victims need to be the ones that help them because these critical bystanders
are the only ones who can.
The reason that psychological abuse is not taken seriously is that there is a mass cultural acceptance
that people are going to say mean things. People in our culture are taught at a young age that everyone
should just take the insults in stride and keep moving forward with their lives. All of which is accurate
to some degree; however, there comes a point when the line between mean kids, rude co workers, and

Why I Should Be Taken For Course Work Purposes
It is important to note that the things and issues that are stated in this paper are pure thought of the
author. There is nothing that relates to whatever Angelina Jolie said or did at any point. The paper is
the full thought of the author and is done for assignment purposes. This is not to mean that the things
stated in this paper at any point are real or relates to the people being mentioned. For any case of
misuse of the content of this paper, the author is not liable at any point. Instead, the paper should be
taken for course work purposes and it is not an article to be used for misinformation purposes at any
point. The content of this paper is strictly not for use for any reference purposes on whatever the
people mentioned said or rather did. This paper, as stated above, is purely the thought of the author. As
much as the reference is on the persons bibliography, the person has not been involved in any part of
the writing of this paper. Therefore, the paper should be strictly used for assignment purpose and no
other thing.

Legalizing Medical Cannabis
Legalizing Medical Cannabis Today medicine is becoming more and more expensive and less natural
as we advance in the medical industry. Medical Technology is so advance that there is a treatment for
every kind of sickness. Some more dangerous than others but one of most simple and natural of them
all is Medical Cannabis or better known as Marijuana . It was first prohibited in 1937 under the
Marijuana Tax Act the move was made to protect the patents and fortunes of a few ultra wealthy
capitalists. But since then the drug has been proven to help with medical treatments. Marijuana is
becoming more mainstream: more than 20 states have legalized it in some way or another, and several
other states are thinking of changing their Medical Cannabis

The Argument In Favor Of Donald Trump s Oval Office
One of Donald Trump s favorite arguments in favor of Donald Trump is that his business successes
make him perfectly suited for the Oval Office.
He brags about his net worth, his negotiating skills and his contacts overseas. But there s little reason
to believe these things would actually help him as president. When it comes to holding the top
political job in the country, political experience is far more relevant than money making experience,
whether you ve been an entrepreneur or a chief executive.
Skills are far less transferable than we think they are, Gautam Mukunda, a professor at Harvard
Business School, told The Huffington Post. Even when you move from one company to another, you
may not be successful. When you move from a company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Trump, or any other CEO, were to become the leader of the free world, he would in many ways be
much more constrained than he was during his business career. With the backing of the board of
directors, a chief executive can fire just about anyone. Trump s made a catchphrase out of it. The
president, on the other hand, is not so lucky. However much Obama wants to fire John Boehner, he
can t, Mukunda said.
Pretty much the only goal of a for profit company is to make money. A nation s goals are more
complicated. Securing peace and prosperity, and doing it in a way that addresses the competing needs
of millions of different people, is a much more ambiguous endeavor.
The U.S. economy is not like a big corporation, something that most CEOs fail to understand, wrote
economist Paul Krugman almost 20 years ago in a Harvard Business Review column titled A Country

more complex than the biggest corporation, Krugman wrote in that

After the Mongols destroyed Kiev, Russia was split into many different kingdoms. Ivan IV the

1500s. During the late 1600s and early 1700s, Peter the Great started western reformations of Russia
and extended Russian territory to the west after defeating the Swedish at the Battle of Poltava in 1709.
Alexander I defeated Napoleon during his invasion of Russia in 1812 13. He then created the Holy

Guantanamo Bay At The Southeastern Tip Of Cuba
In the Caribbean at the southeastern tip of Cuba is Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. The United States
began leasing this area in 1903 making it the oldest overseas U.S. Navy base. Guantanamo Bay allows
the U.S. an area to establish a detention facility in a secure and isolated location eliminating any
chance the detainees could escape and return back to their countries. In addition, Guantanamo Bay
allowed the U.S. to avoid bringing those individuals suspected of terrorism from entering domestic
soil. As of today, Guantanamo Bay only holds 80 detainees. Since the attack on the World Trade
Center, the US has been holding detainees without trial and there have been reports of torture being
used. This is not only unconstitutional but also immoral, Guantanamo Bay needs to be shut down.
Throughout the last 15 years of operation, Guantanamo Bay has faced endless criticism from both
international countries and the US. The biggest issue is the legal black hole that exists at Guantanamo
Bay and the concern over interrogation techniques and torture. We are able to torture prisoners
because of how George W Bush described the war. Bush thought it was a new kind of war and that
this meant the Americans didn t need adhere the rules of the Geneva Convention, explains Professor
Honigsberg from the University of San Francisco. The convention says prisoners of war must be
treated humanely during a war. But Bush didn t call them prisoners of war but enemy combatants .

How Do Regulatory Issues Affecting The Healthcare Industry
There can be many dilemmas for organizations that have serious regulatory issues. Organizations can
be fined for even the smallest break in the regulations (Lester Parnell, 2006). When there are major
issues, imagine how high those fines may be. Not only may the fines be costly, but the cost of getting
a company up to the necessary standards can also have a major effect. If the costs outweigh the profit,
a company could potentially shut down. There are a number of agencies that may affect the healthcare
industry such as Joint Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Center for Disease
Control (Immunization of Healthcare Personnel, 2014). All of these have specific guidelines that have

A Summary Of The Faerie Queene And Beowulf
After reading the assigned short stories I decided to use the first book of the Faerie Queene and
Beowulf. These stories have numerous uses of imagery, Throughout Beowulf there are creatures and
battles that are so epic they literally pop off the page because of the way ( the author s) described
them. In the first book of the Faerie Queene (the author) there are also a wide variety of different
monsters and battles and stunning characters, but they also connect with history.
I decided to choose Imagery because both of these stories are full of different creatures and scenes that
need imagery to be told in its full glory. Beowulf is action packed and has descriptive battles and the
Faerie Queene has many historical references that involve imagery.
In the Faerie Queene Spenser uses imagery with what was happening politically or religiously at the
time. There are many examples throughout the story that suggests this. At the time Spenser wrote the
Faerie Queene it was during the English reformation when England dropped Catholicism and turned
to Protestantism as the country s new religion. Since this was going on at the time Spenser used
imagery to connect with events and to show that their new religion could prevail over the Catholic s
criticism.
In the first book Spenser talks about the noble knight Redcrosse, and describes him as a symbol to
look up to. An example Spenser wrote But on his brest a bloudie Crosse he bore, The deare
remembrance of his dying Lord, For whose sweete sake that glorious badge he wore, And dead as
living ever him adored (1.i.2.1 4). Here it almost seems like Spenser is using imagery to describe the
knight Redcrosse as a Christ figure. Further into the story Spenser talks about a mythical creature
called Errour and begins to paint a vivid image of the serpent. Halfe like a serpent horribly displaide,
But th other halfe did womans shape retaine, Most lothsom, filthie, foule, and full of vile disdaine.
when reading this you see a disgusting creature, and Spenser chose the right words. The word disdaine
means a description that describes monsters both mythical and in the bible and it really shows how
horrifying this monster must have been. After painting the image of the horrible

The Process Decomposing for Requirement This is a very important step in any programming job. We
have to get the requirements needed and to be highly considered while constructing the program. The
following are very vital and useful information gathered from the assignment text. Create a script and
name it tryme3.py In that script write a function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, we defined the nine_lines function that calls a three_line function in it. That means we need to
define the three_line function. Whereas, the three_nine has another function (the new_line function) in
its locals. You can already imagine that we have to define that also and we get as shown below The
order of the definition is not necessarily important. You can even start by defining the new_line before
the nine_lines function. Inject the clear_screen function In our plan, the clear_screen function must
print 25 blank lines. However, we have functions that will print 9 blank lines, 3 blank lines, and a
blank line. To get the 25 blank lines we have to call the nine_lines function twice, the three_lines
function twice and the new_line function once, within the locals of the clear_screen function. The
script will now look as below The final instruction Because we want to make how work interactive by
letting the program tell us what it is doing and what it has done we added some interactive variable,
the placeholder_1, and placeholder_2. Then we finalize what should be printed out. So our script will
end up looking line as shown below Run the program To run the program, as usual, we press F5 from

and women and even the same customers every night, this is their lives from a very young age and
will continue this hardship for the rest of their lives, even if by chance they could get out and try to

and sometimes women for money. In many parts of the world and with women from different parts of

there is a sixty percent of young women in the sex trade were Aboriginal youth and on average of age

employment for women was at the minimum level, but then their war a big decrease greatly during
World War II, this was mainly from the greater opportunities for women in the industries that were

years to as we see it today because of the changes and new laws that the government has made.
The law has always been around and it keeps the system and people safe and in order, including the

Growing up in a Christian household, my brothers and I were always taught the golden rule; treat
people as you would like to be treated, as well as learning the value and benefit that comes from
always telling the truth, no matter what the consequences are. I have certainly maintained, to this day,
a great deal of the values and beliefs that were instilled in me at a young age. The values I learned
during upbringing has surely served me well and have been instrumental in shaping the person I am
today. However, several life experiences have also proved effective in molding beliefs in me that are
less desirable characteristics, in which I struggle with to change. One of my biggest gaps lies in the
ability to truly trust people and their motives. A comment from my manager on my last personal

which, in turn, makes it harder for me to change this undesirable

High Stakes High School Case Study
Introduction
According to the case study (Appendix A), High Stakes High School (HSHS) is a low income,
underperforming urban high school in Bronx, New York. School enrollment consists of 79% Black
and 21% Latino students. Of the student body, 91% qualify for a free or reduced fee lunch, and 13%
qualify as English Language Learners (ELLs). Over the last decade, school performance has waned.
The performance has coincided with troubling school level trends, such as increased absenteeism and
suspensions, as well as gang activity and violence. Trying to align with the instability at the district
level, the school has had six different principals.
Action Plan
During the months of July and August, I established a task force team, involving all stakeholders, in
our school reform and prepared a 3 year action plan to turn around our school. As the principal of
High Stakes High School, my team and I shared the action plan report, based on the school data and
our research in education reforms, with the superintendent. Subsequently, the team shared the findings
at the first faculty conference, at the Parent Teacher Association meeting in September, and with our
students during the Welcome Back to School orientation session. The report identifies the three most
important steps to promoting a positive school culture and planning change. In alignment with

American Involvement Of Foreign Affairs Essay
American Involvement In Foreign Affairs
Kennith Raba
For the longest time America has been known to ally with foreign countries, or be involved with few
disputes in other countries. Yes, we need to trade and keep peace. However, what is better peace or to
not be involved at all? Now, is a circumstance where we are stuck in Iraq and Afghan over issues such
as terroristic activities but why did they start? America does have its own gas storage, not only that but
there are areas where oil can be dug up from and bought from within borders and it could be sold
amongst the few of us, instead we bought it from the middle east and when they fought amongst each
other we got involved to keep the trade going, when it was none of our business. Yes World Peace is a
great concept, But it doesn t work, there will always be problems and trying to fix them only seems to
make it worst, American forces should serve to defend and only attack after we ve been attacked not
used to help end civil wars or so on, it s not our business, and most definitely not our problem but due
to us stepping in, it becomes one. From 1947 1991 there was the cold war amongst the US and Russia,
As much as it s said this war was about the continent with the biggest bomb where no shots were fired,

Who Is Miley Cyrus A Hero
Destiny Hope Cyrus, more commonly known as Miley Cyrus, is a singer, actress, and songwriter.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992, she grew up on a farm with her many siblings. She is the
daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, a famous country singer. Miley s professional career began at the early
age of 9, when she appeared on her father s television series. Shortly after, Miley landed the main role
as Hannah Montanta in Disney Channel s show, Hannah Montana. Ironically, Billy Ray Cyrus was
casted to be Miley s on screen father and manager. After being cast in that show, Miley s family left
their farm life behind and moved to California, in support of her career. Hannah Montana was a hit,
especially among millions of pre teen and teenage girls worldwide. In 2006, she launched her first of
many successful albums, Hannah Montana, which included a duet sung by her and her father. A couple
years later in 2009, Miley Cyrus appeared almost naked on the cover of a Vanity Fair magazine. This
caused major criticism among the public because she served as an inspiration to many young girls.

Social Institutions And Its Impact On Society
For sake of discussion, I used the words most influential only in a positive and/or inspiring sense,
meaning society would benefit most from these social institutions. Conversely, I could have argued
that the least influential social institutions are good and/or beneficial to our society, but our society
chooses to ignore them; and the most influential social institution plague our society. However, I chose
the former the positive and/or inspiring sense of the words. Social institutions are the organized, usual,
or standard ways that a society meets its basic needs (P. 104). Moreover, functionalists identify five
functional requisites that each society must meet to insure their survival (Pp. 104 106). With this in
mind, Family and the Economy are the most influential social institutions in industrial society. Henslin
stated in Chapter 3 that Our experiences in the family and other groups during childhood lay down the
basic orientations to life (p. 94). Families offer guidance as well as protection from the larger, and
sometimes hurtful, society. Furthermore, loving families provide socialization, identity, and comfort,
all of which have an essential role in the development of the self (Pp. 104 106). The economy is the
second most influential social institution in industrial societies. To fulfill basic needs, societies rely on
a strong economy to produce and distribute goods and services. Additionally, strong and stable
economies provide employment and job security to

The Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing
The impacts of hydraulic fracturing can be hard to analyze due to a lack of data available. The
following case studies explored the effects of fracking on animals and humans within areas of
hydraulic fracking sites. The case studies were completed in six states in which hydraulic fracturing
sites has increased in recent years. These six states are Colorado, Louisiana, New York, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, and Texas. The studies focus on the effects of animals because they may serve as
sentinels for human exposure, with shorter lifetimes and more opportunity for data collection from
necropsies (Bamberger Oswald, 2012, p.52). The case studies also take into account human exposure
within the same area as the animals affected. The first case study in the article observed two homes
within a short distance of 25 shale wells. These two homeowners both had farm animals on their
property and used well water for their personal water source. Both homeowners reported incidents
relating to wastewater exposure for both their animals and humans. One incident was when a truck
carrying wastewater drove away from the impoundment site with an open valve, releasing
approximately 20 gallons of wastewater onto the impoundment access road (62). The water that was
released was also spilled onto a road near one of the homeowners property. Another incident occurred
when the barriers for the wastewater impoundment failed causing a spill into a creek. It is believed
that this occurrences could have

As CEO if I were to deny the offer, I would be putting a lot of trust into the potential of the company
and how far it could take all of its employees. I would have to trust that the hot streak this company
will continue to a point where the value exceeds the offer from Emulex. From the employee
perspective I would be happy if the offer was denied, simply because the culture instilled within
Giganet is one of mutual benefit and teamwork. Currently the employees know that the harder they
work to make Giganet a success, the more wealthy they will get. Knowing that momentum is with
them and that an acquisition would only change the dynamic of the job, I assume that employee would
be very satisfied with a choice to deny the buyout offer. Even though it means that they will have to
work extremely hard for a good amount of time, the potential of where the company will go motivates
them.
3.) After considering the situation, who the decision affects, and my past experiences as CEO I would

Why Do Salmon Migrate
Ever wonder where the salmon migrate? The salmon go through a lot of obstacles just to get to their
destination. Salmon can live up to two to seven years. the Washington state has announced that the
salmon are listed as threatened or endangered fish. In the salmon family there are eight species of
salmon that grow in the Washington State (Chinook, Coho, Chum, Pink, Steelhead, Sockeye, Bull
Trout, and Cutthroat.) and there are five that grow in the Pacific (Chinook, Chum, Coho, Pink, and

As they travel to sea they will encounter many dams, fishermen, bears, waterfalls, bigger fish than
them, they would have to overcome all of these to reach the sea. As they reach the sea, they spend
most of their lives there as, they mature enough they will find someone to spawn with and swim back
to the river. Most salmon die when they reproduce and the whole cycle starts again.
Damns impact salmon because it changes the river flow, and the water temperature rises, if salon can t
get back to spawning the salmon population will dramatically decrease. That s why there s fish
ladders, some people call them or refer them as fish passage or fishways. Fish ladders come in handy
because it provides a route for salmon to migrate so they could go over or around the damn that s
blocking the way.
In conclusion, salmon are a resource in Washington people are finding a new way to restore salmon.
Salmons been through a lot, they ve been known as threaten or endeared fish in Washington. As
engineers makes fish ladders to make it easier for salmon to go over the dam, so it would be easier for

World War I began. To this day, it is still largely debated as to which event initiated the beginning of
the war. John Rohl, emeritus professor of history at the University of Sussex, argues that World War I
broke out as the result of a conspiracy between the governments of imperial Germany and Austria
Hungary to bring about war. The purpose of bringing on the war was that the two countries believed it
would be better to go down fighting rather than to continue tolerating the status quo. The countries

The Turks called for parliamentary elections, and in result, doubt was placed in the status of Bosnia
and Herzegovina. The two provinces had been under Ottoman sovereignty, but were administered by
Austria Hungary since 1878. Serbia wanted to unite with Bosnia and Herzegovina to form a large
Serbian kingdom. In opposition, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Balkans.
Austria Hungary teased Russia with a trade off, which promised that if Russia accepted the
annexation, Austria Hungary would open the Dardanelles to Russian warships. Instead, Austria
Hungary proceeded with counteraction.
The annexation left both Serbia and Russia outraged. Germany, too, demanded that the Russians
accept the annexation, or Germany would declare war. In response, Russia increased comfort and aid
to Serbia, and the two countries were determined to never again back down in the Balkans. Between
1912 and 1913, the Balkans fought two wars among themselves. These wars resulted in huge
casualties; the Bulgarians lost around 65,000 men, the Greeks 9,500, the Montenegrins 3,000, and the
Serbs at least 36,000. The wars caused the people in the Balkans to become angrier as tensions among
the Great Powers continued to grow. The instability in the Balkans was initially attractive to the Great

  • 3. Tata Group Essay This quote by Jamsetji Tata explains why the Tata group was so successful throughout history from a simple trading company to a global conglomerate which makes more than makes more than US$ 103.27 billion (2014) and employs more than 580,000 people throughout the world. The foundation of the future Tata Group was laid in 1868 by Jamsetji Tata through the establishment of a trading company in Bombay. This initial investment was followed by the acquisition of a bankrupt oil mill in 1869 which, after being converted into a cotton mill, was sold to make profit and enable him to undertake the first major industrial project of the Tata Group by setting up another cotton mill in 1874, the Empress mill (named after the Empress of India, Queen Victoria). ... It would be under his leadership that his father s ideas would be realized essentially with the establishment of the conglomerates, Tata Steel (1907) and Tata Power (1911). Both constitute the core of the present day Tata group. Moreover, Sir Dorab Tata also contributed to helping India s educational system grow by creating the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 1911. This would become one of the first of many centers of research and learning that would both support the Tata group and enhance its development. In addition, the Tata group is also characterized by the way they care for their employees. A perfect example of this would be, when in 1912, Tata Steel introduced an eight hour working day even though it was not statutory in most industrialized nations. Under Sir Dorab Tata s management, the Tata group, which already possessed three cotton mills and a luxury hotel, now also included the largest private sector steel company as well as three electric companies and one of India s main insurance companies, New India Insurance Co Ltd in 1919 (the largest General Insurance Company in ... • 6. William Butler Yeats The Cap and Bells Essay William Butler Yeats The Cap and Bells William Butler Yeats s ballad The Cap and Bells depicts the behavior of love through an allegorical account of actions between a jester and a queen. Through the use of many symbolic references, the dramatic characters accurately reflect a lover s conduct. Referring to jester like men throughout many of his works ( A Coat , The Fool by the Roadside , Two Songs of a Fool , The Hour Glass , etc.), Yeats continually portrays the actions of humans as foolish many a times. Coming to him in a dream, The Cap and Bells likely acquired its origin from the obsessive infatuation Yeats had with Maud Gonne. Being an acclaimed actress, Yeats most likely perceived Gonne exceeding him in status; her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The garden is also important in that it was the first place of affection and romance between man and woman (Eden). As the garden falls still , Yeats also depicts the harmony between nature and love; no disturbances occur. Continuing, we read how the jester bade his soul rise upward. Here, the man is offering his soul to rise to the queen who is above him both physically and in social status. It rises in a straight blue garment until it reaches her window sill. With the color blue being indicative of hope and truth, Yeats implies that the soul retains an outer covering of hope as it rises. The soul does not rise in a curve like manner, but is instead straight, direct, and uninterrupted by any forces which may sway its course. The window sill becomes symbolic of the queen s spirit. As the jester s soul rises to the ledge, it hopes the queen s spirit will allow him to enter. As Yeats explains the owls who began to call , dualistic meanings develop; the obvious one being that night has fallen. On the contrary, this idea also implies the symbolism behind the wisdom of the owl. In Webster s dictionary, call has an alternative meaning of finding fault . Therefore, an attentive reader can distinguish that the owls are giving a wise warning to the jester about giving his soul to the woman. Although Yeats does not directly state this notion, his poetic hand constantly relates a simple idea into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature Oppression of Women in 19th Century Literature In the stories The Jewelry by Guy de Maupassant, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the female characters are unequal and less important than the men in society. The duties of women during this time period did not consist of much more than seeing to her husband s needs and caring for the home and children. The authors show the lack of independence women were allowed in the 1800s, especially in marriage. The stories express women s cry for equality and their feelings of entrapment in their marriage. Each story elaborates on the importance of social class in the 19th century, how women were presented in society, and how society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the midst of her grieving, Mrs. Mallard pictures the time that is to come, when she will be able to make all of her own decisions and will be given the freedom to live her life as she pleases. Suddenly, she feels relieved more than she is upset. She knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in death...but she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely (Booth 307). Her desire for freedom overcame the despair of her husband s death. Chopin includes that Mrs. Mallard tried to fight off these ideas with her will (Booth 307). Her embraced feelings of independence could have been viewed as forbidden. Although she is excited by these thoughts, she tries to resist the pleasure she truly feels when she realizes the freedom that she has gained. The words free, free, free! escaped from her mouth (Booth307). She attempted to hold back the overwhelming desires for her own life. Perhaps she is hesitant to welcome these feelings because of the public view on women s rights, and the potential consequences for those who opposed such views. Despite the faithfulness and love Mrs. Mallard showed for her husband, the extreme relief she felt in no longer having a marital obligation overpowered her feelings of sadness and loss. At the end of the story, Mrs. Mallard s husband walked through her front door in the flesh, but Mrs. Mallard s heart could not handle the excitement. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay about The Dilemma of Immigration Philosophy The legal and moral issues concerning immigration have been debated for countless of times since their booming popularity during the 19th century. People who believe that it is morally wrong for a country to deny immigration status argue that immigration promotes democracy, egalitarianism and libertarianism. On the other hand, people who believe that countries have every right to deny people who seek immigration argue that immigration taints the cultural roots of a country, weakens national security and reduces the natural resources that would have been distributed to the original citizens of the country. To properly understand the philosophy of immigration, it is imperative to define immigration. Article I, section 8, clause 4 of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this selection process, a country s distinctive culture will not be tainted and influence by outside factors. After all, a distinctive culture is very easy to be seen as appealing. Opponents of this argument however, say that people exaggerate the distinctiveness of one particular culture. Opponents also argue that this line of argument borders on bigotry in a sense that proponents of this argument fear change. After all, they ask, how different is American culture from other cultures of the world. Another increasingly popular moral and practical justification against immigration is that it strengthens national security. Proponents argue that restricting or disallowing immigration will disallow foreign terrorists to enter American soil. Opponents however opined that disallowing immigration would only affect legal immigrants. That is to say that the number of illegal immigrants would still remain stable. This point then is very relevant because terrorists cannot be dissuaded by being involved in extralegal affairs. (Kukhatas, 2005) Proponents of restrictive immigration laws also opine, that for a government to function properly and for its people to be compassionates to compatriots, cultural roots must not be embellished or tainted. This liberal nationalist approach therefore argues that states who limit immigration restrictively are able to operate in that fashion because the citizens are more apt to be more cooperative with a ... These changes were the main factor in the outcome of wars during the period, but only where the organised army had effective command and control in place. Well organised armies could perform tactics better; more easily carry out strategy and use transport more effectively to gain victory. Of all of these elements, the most important strength of a well organised army was tactics. First, organised armies are much more successful in tactics, allowing them to win battles. The organisation of armies allowed flexibility and speed. For example, at Austerlitz, Napoleon purposefully exposed a weak flank, and Davout s army plugged the gap at the last minute, resulting in three times as many Austrian casualties as French. This tactic was repeated successfully by the French multiple times, due to the devolution of command, allowing multiple small armies to co operate while achieving separate aims. Flexibility was also seen in WW1, with the use of creeping barrage, which combined multiple weapons in a three stage multi division assault. This was particularly effectively used by the German army in the Ludendorff offensive, and quite clearly depended on organisation: previous attempts (particularly by the allies) had ended in the second wave (infantry) being killed by the first wave (artillery). ... • 10. Cultural Imperialism Body Images, Eating Disorders, and Cultural Imperialism As society begins to grow a dependency on media, particularly social media, more and more research is being conducted on the effects of this kind of exposure on self esteem, body image, and more importantly eating disorders. As society becomes codependent on the technology that has made life that easier, exposure to marketing techniques and other social cues has increased and with that increase so has the negative perception of body image increased. It is because of this growing tendency of humans to develop subconscious ideas of the perfect body that this paper looks to answer the question of whether American media is portraying these unhealthy images of a perfect body or perfect human to society. This causes several negative tendencies from low self esteem to an array of mental eating disorders due to the dissatisfaction with one s own body. It is the opinion of this paper that American media is in fact imprinting these ideas of a perfect and unhealthy image of the human body onto the general public, whether it be knowingly or unknowingly. Method The author reviews studies on the effects of ideal body images in the American media on the general public, comments on these studies effects on both males and females, and outlines changes that must be implemented to negate the negative effects on self esteem and the perception of body image. The purpose of my science fair project was to find out how the presence or absence of a stabalazing fin will affect the movement and funcntion of the submarine. I was also trying to find out what fin position is the best for the submarine to move properely as desired. My hypothesis was that the submarine will need a fin to move and function properly, so that it doesn t go out of control. I also think that the best position for the submarine is to put the fin in the centre of the bottle because it will have an equal amount of buyoncy on both sides of the bottle. I also found out that if you move the fin to the right, the bottle will turn right aswell, and same goes for the left side. The more right/left you push the fin, the wider the turns get, while if you move the fin a little, the turns are quite sharp. Over the course of time, vertebrates made evolutionary strides with provided them with the ability to travel on land. Coelacanths developed a single boned shoulder girdle, lungfish developed paired fins, and sauripterus developed the major structures on the arm (humerus, radius, and ulna). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many species are completely aquatic during the juvenile part of the lifecycle. For example, frogs have to reproduce in water because amphibian eggs do not have the protection of the amniotic sac. As a result, the adults must return to a water source to reproduce. As tadpoles grow into adults they form limbs that allow them to walk on land. Because of the restriction to semi aquatic environment, the tetrapod structure of amphibians is not as diverse as the other classes of tetrapods. However, there are groups that deviate from the norm by a lot. Caecilians are limbless amphibians. At first glance they do not look like tetrapods but the lack of limbs is a derived secondary characteristic. Their bodies have adapted for burrowing in the ground. Reptiles, the next tetrapods to emerge, were a very successful version of amphibians. As opposed to amphibians, reptiles did not require water for the reproduction process they produced shelled amniotic eggs to protect their embryos from the environment. Due to the reduced dependence on water, reptiles were able to explore many new environments and as a result their limbs evolved in a variety of ways. Crocdylotarsians developed a normal ankle which swings to the side when walking, making walking slightly more efficient. Dinosaurs developed a hole in their hip socket that allowed them to stand upright and to move significantly faster. Another way some terrestrial reptiles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Hamlet Film Vs Film Essay Over the course of the past fifty years there have been many cinematic productions of Shakespeare s Hamlet, some of which remain true to the text while others take greater liberties with the original format. Director Kenneth Branagh s 1996 production of Hamlet was true to Shakespeare s work in that the film s dialogue was delivered word or word as it is presented in the text. In contrast, Franco Zeffirelli conducted his 1990 production of Hamlet in a much more liberal direction in which lines, scenes and characters were omitted from the film. I argue that from the perspective of an individual with moderate knowledge in Shakespearian literature, that the best film versions of Hamlet are those that take the most liberties from the text. Both the first and the third of the aforementioned changes that Zeffirelli made to the film have a minor impact on the audience s understanding of the underlying themes that exist throughout the play. In act 3 scene 3 Claudius performs his soliloquy which acts like a window into the true nature of Claudius guilt. This excerpt of the play is the first time we encounter Claudius confess blame for the crime against his brother. This self confession further demonstrates the guilt that Claudius exhibits in act 3 scene 2 when Claudius flees the theater after Hamlet arranges a play reenacting the events of his father s murder. As Claudius states on line 56, May one be pardoned and retain th offense? This line depicts the true nature of Claudius guilt: He does not regret his actions, for his actions have granted him My crown, mine own ambition and my queen. (3.2.55) Claudius is content with his gains, his only guilt stems from the fact that he believes he will not go to heaven because of his actions. Zeffirelli as opposed to Branagh shortens this soliloquy which causes a loss of perception into the complex role that guilt plays throughout the story. Like the presence of the theme of guilt, the film also neglects the theme of war. Mary Jo Fay (2007), states that verbal abuse, includes name calling, shouting and yelling. She also goes on to say that emotional abuse: includes blaming, accusing and restricting your freedom like preventing you from using the phone or talking to family members, or recording the mileage on your car to see if you ve driven somewhere not allowed. Attempting to confuse you mentally (Types of Abuse section). What makes psychological abuse such a large issue is that it is not recognized by most as a true form of abuse. Therefore, the victims of psychological abuse cannot get the help that they need. This is such a critical problem because the only way for the victims of psychological abuse to be helped is for the bystanders of this crime to recognize and take a stand for the victims. The everyday people in the lives of psychologically abused victims need to be the ones that help them because these critical bystanders are the only ones who can. The reason that psychological abuse is not taken seriously is that there is a mass cultural acceptance that people are going to say mean things. All of which is accurate to some degree; however, there comes a point when the line between mean kids, rude co workers, and spouses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. A Summary Of The Faerie Queene And Beowulf After reading the assigned short stories I decided to use the first book of the Faerie Queene and Beowulf. These stories have numerous uses of imagery, Throughout Beowulf there are creatures and battles that are so epic they literally pop off the page because of the way ( the author s) described them. In the first book of the Faerie Queene (the author) there are also a wide variety of different monsters and battles and stunning characters, but they also connect with history. I decided to choose Imagery because both of these stories are full of different creatures and scenes that need imagery to be told in its full glory. Beowulf is action packed and has descriptive battles and the Faerie Queene has many historical references that involve imagery. In the Faerie Queene Spenser uses imagery with what was happening politically or religiously at the time. There are many examples throughout the story that suggests this. At the time Spenser wrote the Faerie Queene it was during the English reformation when England dropped Catholicism and turned to Protestantism as the country s new religion. Since this was going on at the time Spenser used imagery to connect with events and to show that their new religion could prevail over the Catholic s criticism. In the first book Spenser talks about the noble knight Redcrosse, and describes him as a symbol to look up to. An example Spenser wrote But on his brest a bloudie Crosse he bore, The deare remembrance of his dying Lord, For whose sweete sake that glorious badge he wore, And dead as living ever him adored (1.i.2.1 4). Here it almost seems like Spenser is using imagery to describe the knight Redcrosse as a Christ figure. Further into the story Spenser talks about a mythical creature called Errour and begins to paint a vivid image of the serpent. Halfe like a serpent horribly displaide, But th other halfe did womans shape retaine, Most lothsom, filthie, foule, and full of vile disdaine. when reading this you see a disgusting creature, and Spenser chose the right words. Growing up in a Christian household, my brothers and I were always taught the golden rule; treat people as you would like to be treated, as well as learning the value and benefit that comes from always telling the truth, no matter what the consequences are. I have certainly maintained, to this day, a great deal of the values and beliefs that were instilled in me at a young age. The values I learned during upbringing has surely served me well and have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today. However, several life experiences have also proved effective in molding beliefs in me that are less desirable characteristics, in which I struggle with to change. One of my biggest gaps lies in the ability to truly trust people and their motives. A comment from my manager on my last personal development plan stated that I need to be more trusting of team members and people in the organization. More often that not, I find life experiences reaffirming my hesitance to fully trust people, which, in turn, makes it harder for me to change this undesirable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. High Stakes High School Case Study Introduction According to the case study (Appendix A), High Stakes High School (HSHS) is a low income, underperforming urban high school in Bronx, New York. School enrollment consists of 79% Black and 21% Latino students. Of the student body, 91% qualify for a free or reduced fee lunch, and 13% qualify as English Language Learners (ELLs). Over the last decade, school performance has waned. The performance has coincided with troubling school level trends, such as increased absenteeism and suspensions, as well as gang activity and violence. Trying to align with the instability at the district level, the school has had six different principals. Action Plan During the months of July and August, I established a task force team, involving all stakeholders, in our school reform and prepared a 3 year action plan to turn around our school. As the principal of High Stakes High School, my team and I shared the action plan report, based on the school data and our research in education reforms, with the superintendent. Subsequently, the team shared the findings at the first faculty conference, at the Parent Teacher Association meeting in September, and with our students during the Welcome Back to School orientation session. The report identifies the three most important steps to promoting a positive school culture and planning change. • 32. American Involvement Of Foreign Affairs Essay American Involvement In Foreign Affairs Kennith Raba For the longest time America has been known to ally with foreign countries, or be involved with few disputes in other countries. Yes, we need to trade and keep peace. However, what is better peace or to not be involved at all? Now, is a circumstance where we are stuck in Iraq and Afghan over issues such as terroristic activities but why did they start? America does have its own gas storage, not only that but there are areas where oil can be dug up from and bought from within borders and it could be sold amongst the few of us, instead we bought it from the middle east and when they fought amongst each other we got involved to keep the trade going, when it was none of our business. Yes World Peace is a great concept, But it doesn t work, there will always be problems and trying to fix them only seems to make it worst, American forces should serve to defend and only attack after we ve been attacked not used to help end civil wars or so on, it s not our business, and most definitely not our problem but due to us stepping in, it becomes one. • 34. Social Institutions And Its Impact On Society For sake of discussion, I used the words most influential only in a positive and/or inspiring sense, meaning society would benefit most from these social institutions. Conversely, I could have argued that the least influential social institutions are good and/or beneficial to our society, but our society chooses to ignore them; and the most influential social institution plague our society. However, I chose the former the positive and/or inspiring sense of the words. Social institutions are the organized, usual, or standard ways that a society meets its basic needs (P. 104). Moreover, functionalists identify five functional requisites that each society must meet to insure their survival (Pp. 104 106). With this in mind, Family and the Economy are the most influential social institutions in industrial society. Henslin stated in Chapter 3 that Our experiences in the family and other groups during childhood lay down the basic orientations to life (p. 94). Families offer guidance as well as protection from the larger, and sometimes hurtful, society. Furthermore, loving families provide socialization, identity, and comfort, all of which have an essential role in the development of the self (Pp. 104 106). The economy is the second most influential social institution in industrial societies. To fulfill basic needs, societies rely on a strong economy to produce and distribute goods and services. Additionally, strong and stable economies provide employment and job security to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing The impacts of hydraulic fracturing can be hard to analyze due to a lack of data available. The following case studies explored the effects of fracking on animals and humans within areas of hydraulic fracking sites. The case studies were completed in six states in which hydraulic fracturing sites has increased in recent years. These six states are Colorado, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. The studies focus on the effects of animals because they may serve as sentinels for human exposure, with shorter lifetimes and more opportunity for data collection from necropsies (Bamberger Oswald, 2012, p.52). The case studies also take into account human exposure within the same area as the animals affected. The first case study in the article observed two homes within a short distance of 25 shale wells. These two homeowners both had farm animals on their property and used well water for their personal water source. Both homeowners reported incidents relating to wastewater exposure for both their animals and humans. One incident was when a truck carrying wastewater drove away from the impoundment site with an open valve, releasing approximately 20 gallons of wastewater onto the impoundment access road (62). The water that was released was also spilled onto a road near one of the homeowners property. Another incident occurred when the barriers for the wastewater impoundment failed causing a spill into a creek. It is believed that this occurrences could have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would have to trust that the hot streak this company will continue to a point where the value exceeds the offer from Emulex. From the employee perspective I would be happy if the offer was denied, simply because the culture instilled within Giganet is one of mutual benefit and teamwork. Currently the employees know that the harder they work to make Giganet a success, the more wealthy they will get. Knowing that momentum is with them and that an acquisition would only change the dynamic of the job, I assume that employee would be very satisfied with a choice to deny the buyout offer. Even though it means that they will have to work extremely hard for a good amount of time, the potential of where the company will go motivates them. 3.) After considering the situation, who the decision affects, and my past experiences as CEO I would deny Giganet s offer to buy the company out. As they travel to sea they will encounter many dams, fishermen, bears, waterfalls, bigger fish than them, they would have to overcome all of these to reach the sea. As they reach the sea, they spend most of their lives there as, they mature enough they will find someone to spawn with and swim back to the river. Most salmon die when they reproduce and the whole cycle starts again. Damns impact salmon because it changes the river flow, and the water temperature rises, if salon can t get back to spawning the salmon population will dramatically decrease. That s why there s fish ladders, some people call them or refer them as fish passage or fishways. The Black Hand And World War I The Black Hand and World War I Sophia Reider Ms. Beck Honors World Cultures Period 3 19 May 2017 On July 28th, 103 years ago, the war of the nations, the great war, or in other words, World War I began. To this day, it is still largely debated as to which event initiated the beginning of the war. John Rohl, emeritus professor of history at the University of Sussex, argues that World War I broke out as the result of a conspiracy between the governments of imperial Germany and Austria Hungary to bring about war. The purpose of bringing on the war was that the two countries believed it would be better to go down fighting rather than to continue tolerating the status quo. The countries also did so in opposition to Britain because of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Turks called for parliamentary elections, and in result, doubt was placed in the status of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two provinces had been under Ottoman sovereignty, but were administered by Austria Hungary since 1878. Serbia wanted to unite with Bosnia and Herzegovina to form a large Serbian kingdom. In opposition, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Balkans. Austria Hungary teased Russia with a trade off, which promised that if Russia accepted the annexation, Austria Hungary would open the Dardanelles to Russian warships. Instead, Austria Hungary proceeded with counteraction. The annexation left both Serbia and Russia outraged. Germany, too, demanded that the Russians accept the annexation, or Germany would declare war. In response, Russia increased comfort and aid to Serbia, and the two countries were determined to never again back down in the Balkans. Between 1912 and 1913, the Balkans fought two wars among themselves. These wars resulted in huge casualties; the Bulgarians lost around 65,000 men, the Greeks 9,500, the Montenegrins 3,000, and the Serbs at least 36,000. The wars caused the people in the Balkans to become angrier as tensions among the Great Powers continued to grow. The instability in the Balkans was initially attractive to the Great Powers because they wanted to gain influence. However, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
