Emily Dickinson s The Narrow Fellow In The Grass
The Narrow Fellow in The Grass is a poem by Emily Dickinson who portrays the hidden creature
in the grass. In the starting we are curious to learn more about the creature and figure out its
character. Halfway through the poem, the poetess gives evidences of the snake s constant
appearances and disappearances. This tends the reader to perceive the snake to be a trickster
leading to a sense of deception. Deception is very relevant to the prevailing occurrences. One finest
example can be false advertising. False advertising is something which is misleading and can be
unpredictable. The sellers advertise their products and services to draw attention from the
customers. Such advertisements are to deceive the customers. The sellers want to obtain new
clients by misrepresenting the features and its appearance from their natural structure or pattern.
Usually, such ads hide their cons and embellish their pros. One of the case where false
advertisements have been too deceptive is an advertisement by Wal Mart. It had advertised a
nationwide sale on coke. It charged the customers more than the advertised sale price in more than
hundred stores. Further, it was determined that the cash... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As there are many competitors, one may fall into the trap of fraudulent related activities. They can
gain more customers by simply exaggerating the good features. They end up delivering vague and
unbelievable statements. There exists more fraud in online ads because many of them totally differ
in the actual products when compared to their ads. There are many complaints on the images
displayed on the ad. They vary in colour, size, quality, price, etc. The fundamental purpose of an
advertisement is to communicate the product s actual features. Most of them fail to convey the
actual state. This leads to the customer s sceptical behaviour towards the producer/

Essay on Global Warming
Global Warming A Problem Blown Out of Proportion
It is ironic that fifty two years before hosting the 1997 United Nations Conference on Climate
Change, the city of Kyoto had barely missed being destroyed. It was one of four cities considered
as primary targets by President Harry Truman s secretary of war, Henry L. Stimson. The others were
Kokura, Hiroshima, and Niigata. Gale E. Christianson describes Kyoto in her book Greenhouse as a
magnificent city surpassed only by Tokyo in the number of its institutions of higher learning.
Kyoto served as the seat of the emperor for more than 1000 years until the Imperial Household

response. Furthermore, even if the earth is warming, it is not cause for alarm. Historic evidence
supports the idea that warmer climates are beneficial for human activities, food production, and
health. Cold periods have had the opposite affect. The argument against global warming is
divided into two schools of thought. The first is that scientific evidence proves that the earth is
not warming and the issue has been artificially manufactured. The second school of thought is
that warming is occurring. However, this warming is naturally occurring regardless of how we
treat the environment and this warming is beneficial to us for a variety of reasons which I will
explain. Scientific data collected over the over the last 140 years suggesting that there is global
warming has been replaced with satellites. Satellites, which measure temperatures all over the
world, show no real trend in any direction, in fact in recent decades, they show a global cooling.
Jerry Taylor, director of Cato Institute s Natural Resource Studies, observed that NASA satellites
and weather balloons show a slight cooling trend over the past 19 years. Taylor points out that
previous land based data only unevenly covers the three quarters of the earth s surface covered by
oceans and virtually ignores polar regions (Taylor 2). University of Alabama climatologist John

The Unjust Society Of Selfish Society In John Locke s...
The Unjust Society of Selfish Men Can a man s private interests result in an unjust society? In
John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, Locke explains that private interests lead to
injustice. Private interests lead to an individual s desire for power which is the over arching
theme in men s interest. Everything a man does he does for himself and his prosperity, instead of
living in a state of equality. Selfish desires always lead to injustice because man consequently
deprives others of what he has achieved. The violation of the rights of others is unjust, so by
working for self gain, men deprive others rights. Since men live in a state of equality, treating
others with fairness maintains that state. Unfortunately, men are naturally selfish, which means
they live through their own self interest, and for their own self gain. Moreover, through a man s
self interests equality does not exist, which leads to an unjust society. A man s self interests result
in an unjust treatment of others, because as he works for his own self prosperity he is depriving
others of the same opportunities. Injustice is a result of a man s self interests, such as wealth,
property, and the desire of authority. The amount of wealth a man possesses determines his level of
power, which leads to an unjust society. The amount of money a person possesses also determines
his quantity of wealth. A man earns money, charged on the account of labour (Ch. V, Sec. 43, pg.
27), which means the large

Seat Belt Laws Essay
Since the implementation of mandatory seat belt laws studies have shown that seat belt usage has
increased while traffic fatalities have decreased. Seat belt usage rates increased from 17% to 79%
in the U.S. between 1983 and 2003 (Houston Richardson, 2006). All U.S. states except New
Hampshire have mandatory seat beltlaws for adults. Currently, there are two types of seat belt
enforcement, primary and secondary. To date, 34 states have a primary enforcement law which
allows a police officer to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicleand issue a citation for no other reason
than the fact that the driver is not wearing a seat belt. A benefit to a state having a primary
enforcement law is that in 2016 seat belt usage was up 92% according to the CDC (2017).
A secondary seat belt enforcement law requires a police officer to have a separate traffic
infraction, such as speeding, before being allowed to cite a driver for not wearing a seat belt.
There are 15 states which currently operate under a secondary seat belt law. According to
research provided by the CDC, states with secondary seat belt enforcement action had an increase
in seat belt usage by 83% in 2016 (2017). It is unclear if states with primary enforcement action
have less serious or fatal injury vehicle crashes than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to NHTSA, 13,941 lives were saved by seat belts in 2015 while an additional 2,814

Love And Change In Thornton Wilder s Our Town
Love and change are all part of life. But sometimes we humans take life for granted. We don t
appreciate everything we have until it is gone. In Our town Thornton wilder used the theme to
spread his message of how we should cherish every moment of life. Thornton wilder wanted his
audience to live life to the fullest while is using characterization at the same timeto help develop his
theme and show how as time goes by we change in some way. In our town Act, 1 Thornton wilder
focused more on characterization to show the growth and changes between George and Emily. Two

Preparations Before Relocation: One of the more important aspects of working in Australia as a
foreign worker would be acquiring the appropriate visa so that one may legally reside in
Australia. When considering which visa would be appropriate, Temporary Work (Skilled) visa

to this situation. Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) is a visa that will allow an

Similar to the United States dollar, Australia has both banknotes and coins. Considered easier to
tell apart than some other currency due to differences in size and color, Australia money
denominations begin at 5в‚µ and rise to $100. The $5 note is light pink, the $10 note is blue,
the $20 note is orange, the $50 note is mustard yellow, and finally the $100 note is green.
Featured on the banknotes are important Australian figures such as the first female member of
Australian parliament, Edith Cowan, and the founder of the world s first air ambulance, John
Flynn. Conversely, the coinage of Australia comes in only two colors of silver and gold as well
as featuring iconic animals and plants of Australia. Denominations of coins go from 5в‚µ to $2.
As Australia doesn t have 1в‚µ coins, prices are rounded at the register to the nearest 5в‚µ
(Rivera, 2017; Currency, n.d.). As with any major relocation, there is a culture shock of some sort.
This is generally true whether someone is moving from one country to another or simply from one
state to another. There are a few major concerns with relocating to Australia. Some of these include
the hot weather, socialization, and egalitarianism. It s noted that the UV index in Australia is
always high, so sunscreen is always recommended. Australia is also known to be a friendly country
that values equality and fair distribution of work. Within Australia, people are

Care Recommendations
What should ED based providers and case managers focus on when writing Care
Recommendations?
ED based providers and case managers may have information which could be useful to ED
providers at other EDs visited by the patient, such as security incidents, ED based interventions that
have been helpful for the patient, findings from lab or imaging tests, or social factors which seem
to affect ED visits.
Often the patient s PCP is not connected to the network via PreManage or there is no PCP written

Case managers from health plans or managed care organizations typically defer to other provider

information that could be valuable to ED providers.
Additionally, even when there are Care Recommendations for a patient written by PCP or other

Analysis of the Theme of Survival in Auschwitz Essay
Survival in Auschwitz tells of the horrifying and inhuman conditions of life in the Auschwitz
death camp as personally witnessed and experienced by the author, Primo Levi. Levi is an Italian
Jew and chemist, who at the age of twenty five, was arrested with an Italian resistance group and
sent to the Nazi Auschwitz death camp in Poland in the end of 1943. For ten terrible months, Levi
endured the cruel and inhuman death camp where men slaved away until it was time for them to
die. Levi thoroughly presents the hopeless existence of the prisoners in Auschwitz, whose most
basic human rights were stripped away, when in Chapter 2 he states, Imagine now a man who is
deprived of everyone he loves, and at the same time of his house, his habits,... Show more content

In Chapter 6, Levi tells how Kapos, beat us from pure bestiality and violence, but others beat us
when we are under a load almost lovingly, accompanying the blows with exhortations, as cart
drivers do with willing horses (67). A further aspect of Survival in Auschwitz that reinforces the
dehumanizing effect of the death camp on the Jewish prisoners is the constant presence of
hunger and starvation among the prisoners. Food and its acquisition and consumption are a
constant topic that Primo Levi discusses because it constantly occupied the minds of most
prisoners. Levi states, We have learnt the value of food; now we also diligently scrape the
bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under our chins when we eat bread so as not
to lose the crumbs (33). Bread and soup are the only things prisoners in the camp receive and
whether you are served soup from the top or the bottom is of great importance. The prisoners
would try to get soup from the bottom half of the vat because soup from the upper portion is
mostly watery broth whereas soup from the bottom portion contains more vegetables pieces (33).
The insatiable desire for food would lead prisoners to act in very animalistic ways. Upon waking up
in the morning, prisoners would quickly make their beds and then run to the latrines urinating while
they run to save time, because within five minutes begins the

Food Taboos
Food Taboos Would You Eat Breast Milk Cheese? (Hamm, 2010). I have shown this headline to
multiple people and have received the same reaction from everyone. Most of these people I work
with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers
nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human
breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. One person even reacted with a
sharp reply of I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT! There is something about the thought of
consuming human breast milk that makes people squirm.

Two documentaries airing on the National Geographic Channel this week examine delicacies and

Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This
connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture
we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept
and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will
be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in
the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited
palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made
worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate
to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. As a result, I do not enjoy eating as a general
rule and do not derive pleasure from it. The reason why this is true: is that I am very picky and
eating is challenging for me.
This taboo can affect me socially. Our society in the United States, places

J: I m in two minds whether or not to finish it altogether, imagine how the kids would feel if they

S: So you re feeling unsure as what to do, whether to end the relation ship or not. (reflecting feeling)
J: Yes, I want to keep seeing him but I don t want anyone getting hurt, but I suppose his wife will

Jillian talked about being mixed up and not being able to decide if she really wanted a relationship

Weeping Woman
Pablo Picasso s, Weeping Woman (1937), is a most expressive and eccentric image of a woman
in distress. The geometry and shapes in the painting are imaginative and outrageous, with bright
colors and shapes of boats and flowers that are, to some extent humorous, except for the
profound suffering of the women. The eyes of the women are shaped as boats within a rough
sea, spilling tears in the form of diamonds. Diamond shaped tears are also the nails of her hands,
held up to her face in fright. With a single image Picasso expresses a complex array of human
anguish; terror, despair, outrage, hysteria, and death. The sad and dark eyed woman is Picasso s

Similarities And Differences Between Yanomamo And Samoan...
Different cultures have different ways of experiencing aspects of their culture. There are many
similarities and differences between the Yanomamo and Samoan peoples. Cultural differences and
similarities need to be paid attention to. Also, the similarities need to be celebrated. The Samoans
and Yanomamo have different and similar subsistence methods, division of labor, occupational
specialization, exchange of goods, and the economic link to power. The differences and similarities
between the Yanomamo and Samoan peoples are striking and deserve thorough examination.
The first aspect of Samoan and Yanomamo life that is different is subsistence methods. The
Yanomamo have different forms of subsistence than the Samoans. The Samoans mainly rely on
agriculture. According to Peters=Golden, clearing the land for planting is hard work. (Peters
Golden 225) The Samoans use cutting tools like axes and knives get rid of trees and bushes and
other foliage. The Samoans also use small fires to eliminate everything else. Peters Golden writes
that digging sticks are then employed to dislodge rocks and loosen the soil for planting. (Peters
Golden 225) Similarly to the Samoans, the Yanomamo also rely on agriculture. However, they also
utilize foraging, unlike the Samoans. The Yanomamo also hunt, and, similarly to the Samoans, they
fish. (Peters Golden 226, 271) Despite that, Peters Golden says that the bulk of Yanomamo food
(more than 80 percent) is grown in their village gardens.

Heath Ledger Character Traits
I personally think that Heath Ledger portrayed the character best. He gives a visceral and creepy
performance that immediately captures the audience. His sole purpose is to torment innocent
people and he accurately portrays the agent of chaos . His jokes are evil tricks and as Alfred

his small quirks, like his sporadic lip licking, are unnerving to the audience. Ledger threw himself
into the role, as he spent months in isolation and launched himself into the mind of a psychopath.

Grand Theft Auto Research Paper
Grand Theft Auto is a very inappropriate game for many ages due to the degrading standards
women are held to, the reckless use of vehicles, and the lack of respect shown for laws and law
enforcement. Fact is that the game is thought of as the most hyper violent game in history and is
the most controversial. Grand Theft Auto and its franchise has been awarded such a title by the
Guinness Book of World Records. The gameis most known for the violent and misconduct that it
contains in every edition. (source cited)

of missions and the police provide a reliable enemy or challenge. Officers within the series are
thought of as lazy, corrupt, and bad drivers. The criminal acts that the players get involved in
can reward them with stars. Each case varies from level to level, but the more stars the crime

The Effect Of Ocean Acidification On The Rates Of Calcium...
INTRODUCTION/ABSTRACT For the past 200 years, the rapid increase in atmospheric CO2
continues to be produced by, the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrialization, cement
production, and other land use changes. The ocean absorbs much of this excess CO2 through air
sea gas exchange, resulting in changes in seawater chemistry. Due to human made emissions, the
CO2 content of the oceans has dramatically increased and is gradually acidifying the surface
waters. As a result of human made emissions, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and oceans
has increased dramatically during recent decades. In the ocean, the accumulating CO2 is
gradually acidifying the surface waters, making it difficult for shelled organisms such as corals
and certain open sea plankton to build their calcium carbonate skeletons. Since this process affects
the functioning of several marine ecosystems, it has been massively studied in recent years.
However, getting an accurate measure is complicated because the effect of ocean acidification on
the rates of calcium produced by marine organisms is extremely variable and its species specific.
Since scientists incline to use local and site specific field measurements, treating reef environments
and open sea environments separately, their measurements reflect the local response of individual
organisms to elevated CO2 levels, leaving out the overall picture. RESEARCH Increasing
concentrations of CO2 in the world s oceans has resulted with serious

Charles Darwin s Influence Of Evolution On The Galapagos...
Evolution is a theory that is supported with evidence that characteristics of living organisms
change over generations. A species can change over time and may even split into two new species
through a process called Speciation. Each new species adapts to its new environment through
adaptability. This is the ability of an organism to change its physical and chemical nature to adjust
to its surroundings. For example, adaptive radiation is a form of evolutionthat Charles Darwinhad
discovered. He observed the different species of finches on the Galapagos Islands. There are at least
13 species of finches, and each has developed a different shaped beak, a thin beak for those who ate
insects, and a thicker beak for those species that ate large seeds.... Show more content on

Another influence is mutation. Mutation is a source of variation. This variation can be helpful in
survival for an organism. Mutations are the changes that occur in the DNA. A single DNA
mutation can have a large effect, but in the case of evolutionary change, this variation is based on
the gathering of many different mutations. Another form of mutation can occur within the same
species is through isolation. If a tsunami breaks out and causes a separation in wild life, one of
the species can be affected with a mutation, causing a change in species, while the other doesn t
get affected. Darwin s findings on Galapagos Islands are perfect examples that demonstrate the
effects that isolations and mutations (including environmental changes) have on species.
Environmental changes ties into the influences of evolution. An organism can change its physical
and chemical nature to adjust to its surrounding. Over time, a certain species will die out due to
lack of survival in the environment, and a new species will evolve. Environmental change also
forces the organism to adapt to the new environment. For example, if a species is limited to eating
a certain type of plant, and a change occurs, like a mold breaks out and kills most of it, that species
has to either evolve to engulf the fungus, or find something else to

Trojan War Analysis
The story of the Trojan war has fascinated humans for centuries and has given rise to countless
scholarly articles and books, extensive archaeological excavations, epic movies, television
documentaries, stage plays, art and sculptures, souvenirs and collectibles. But the real question
is, was homer a real person? Certainly heroes, from Achilles to Hector, are portrayed so credibly
that is easy to believe the story is based from true events. But is it truly an account based on real
events? And were the main characters actually real people? Would the ancient worlds equivalent of
the entire nation of Greece really have gone to war over a single woman, however beautiful, and
for ten long years at the?
There is both considerable and uncertain archaeological and written evidence to support the
occurrence of the famous Trojan War. Various sources have referred to a great war occurring in the
13th century involving the Greek city Mycenae and the successful independent city of Troy. The
discovery of archaeological evidence by various archaeologists such as Schliemann, Dorpfeld and
Korfmann support the theory that the Trojan war did in fact occur, expelling the uncertainty over
Troy s significance. In addition to this, there is an extreme amount of evidence to declare Mycenae
s motive and role within the war. However the unreliability of The Iliad places historical doubt on
Homer s views on the Trojan War. But although there is various inconsistencies in the evidence to

Summary Of The Book Walmart Wars
Morality is defined by the fine line found between actions and behavior. In the book WalMart
Wars, Massengill argues many points of how Wal Mart is found at the forefront of society s
greatest social arguments. Through Wal Mart s public relations campaigns, American society has
revered and accepted the ideas of thrift as morally just because it presents the sense of upward
mobility. The concepts of social theorist Ferdinand Tönnies in using both gemeinschaft and
gesellschaft emphasize the connection of both community and modernity (Massengill, 2013, 77).
Massengill is showing that Walmart is setup like any other society found in the US. For many

Mortgage Fraud And The Big Short By Starring Christian...
Mortgage fraud is one of the costliest, yet seldom prosecuted crimes in the criminal world.
CoreLogic estimates approximately $13 billion in fraud losses occurred in 2012, according to
the latest available data in the 2012 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report (Gerding, 2013). While these
numbers may seem high, the approximate $13 billion in losses is only a fraction of what it would
be if every case were to be prosecuted. Mortgagefraudwas also a major contributing factor towards
a national, and nearly global economic collapse in 2008 when the United States economy saw the
worst recession it has seen since the great depression. Anyone that has seen the films 99 homes
starring Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon or The Big Short starring Christian Bale and Ryan
Gosling has seen a largely realistic glimpse of mortgage fraud and how devastating it can be.
White collar crime: Mortgage fraud Traditionally, there are three types of mortgage fraud that
are the most common and well known. These three types are fraud for profit , fraud for housing
and a third type that deals with overestimating a property s value or submitting a false appraisal
(Schmalleger, 2016). A relatively new fourth type of mortgage fraud that quickly escalated
following the economic crash of 2008 involves a series of scams claiming to save property owners
from foreclosure.
A criminal that commits fraud for profit essentially inquires about a home or property, makes an
offer desirable to the seller and places

Using A Part Of Speech Tagger
The tags used within the proposed patterns do not require the use of a part of speech tagger; in
fact, each tag has a list of finite possible values that is dialect dependent. So while the presented
patterns themselves, are mostly dialect independent, the range of possible values from which tags
in a pattern can be derived, depends on the dialect that is being targeted. Our work and experiments
have focused on Egyptian Arabic; and more specifically, the Cairene dialect.
In the first phase, the extraction patterns are applied on a large corpus of text obtained from twitter
to yield a set of subjective terms. In the second phase, the extracted terms, are assigned polarity
based on the normalized point wise mutual information score between them and positive and
negative terms derived from an existing polarity lexicon. Details of the process are presented in the

Electrolysis Essay
Electrolysis is the direct passing of an electric current that follows through an ionic substance that
is molten or dissolved in a suitable solvent, which makes electrodes and separated materials.
Electrolysis begins when an electrical current flows out of one pole of energy into one electrode,
which is called the cathode. Electrolysisoccurs when electrical energy is used to produce a
chemical change. Sulfuric acid, also known as ( H2SO4) , is commonly used in Electrolysis (Net
Industries). Electrolysis can only be produced by energy being pumped or pulled into water. A best
known example of Electrolysis is decomposition of water to produce hydrogen and oxygen (Net
Industries). When an electrical current passes through a water current, hydrogen bubbles are
produced. Every two water molecules have been decomposed into two hydrogen molecules, after
Electrolysis have turned an ionic substance into a dissolved, suitable substance. ( Net Industries).
Water must be dissolved in salt to be made an electrode. An electrode is a conductor through which
electricity enters or leaves an object or a substance. The net result of two electrode reactions added
together is ( H + ions + 4 OH ions ). An ion is an atom or a molecule in which the total number of
electrons is not equal to the total number of protons, giving the atom or molecule a positive or
negative electrical charge. Ions can be created either chemically or physically. The cathode, the
negatively charged electrode by which

Summary Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Many games are involved in the plot of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The Green Knight,
plays a Christmas game with the knights of the round table. Gawain s host s wife plays games
with Gawain throughout the the third fitt; all while Gawain sees his agreement of mutual trade
with his host as a game as well. In the end all of the events of the story are revealed as a game
created by Arthur s sister Morgan Le Fay, for the sole purpose of testing the honor King Arthur s
knights possessed. The Christmas game that the Green Knight comes to play with Arthur s
royal court at the request of Morgan Le Fay provides the structure for which the plot of the
entire story is based upon. At first, it seems to Arthur s court as if the knight has come to present
a contest to the court; he reveals that he intends for one person from Arthur s court to accept hit
challenge and exchange one blow for another. It seems to the people as if it would be an easy
contest for the opponent of the Green Knight to win, because no one expects him to survive a
fatal blow to the head with an axe. However, the knight shocks everyone when he picks up his
severed head and rides away his green horse. After the Green Knight rides away, it reveals to
Gawain the importance of the promise made with the Green Knight. Gawain s cousin Arthur tries to
downplay the importance of this deal several times throughout the novel, when he says Now, sir,
hang up your axe and return to the feast (line 447). Authors

Causes Of Neurogenesis Of Autism
Neurogenesis of Autism
Molecular switching on/off due to genetic mutation is one of the causes of developing Autism. In a
new study, neurogenesis mechanism which increases the risk of development the autistic spectrum
disorder has been explored.
UBE3A gene encoded an enzyme in human named Ubiquitin protein ligase E3A. Changes in this
gene may cause different neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism and Angelman syndrome.
Autism is a genetically heterogeneous disorder associated with synaptic deficits, social impairment,
and stereotyped behaviors. For a number of years, researchers in genetic science have been
exploring so many gene mutations in patients with autism and their families but how these
mutations affect protein function or contribute to disease was unknown. It is therefore welcome
news that recent study explored the molecular mechanism that seems to underlie autism disorders.

Describe In Detail 5 Forms Of Punishments
In medieval times the community believed the only way to ensure a crimeless village was to
make the villages afraid of the punishments they could receive. They aimed to create the
punishments painful, humiliating and possibly permanent. Describe in detail 5 different forms
of punishments Ducking stool The ducking stool was a hand crafted wooden chair connected to
an adjustable beam. This was a form of imprisonment and torture. This punishment could vary
from 1 or a couple dunks to a large amount of dunks spread out throughout the day. This
punishment was made for women who were prostitutes or nagging wives. For example a woman
who was a nagging wife, would be strapped to the stool, paraded around the village and then
taken to the river. She was then dunked into the water 3 times. Scold s bridle The scold s bridle
was a metal head piece, that was strapped to a woman s head. The head piece came with a spiky
metal strip that would sit on top of the tongue. This was a form of imprisonment and torture.
This punishment was made for women was were gossips. If a woman was caught gossiping, her
husband would strap the scold s bridle on her head and would parade her around the village with
a chain which was attached to the side of the head piece. During the punishment women could not
eat or drink, they would also get verbally abused, spat at and worse. They would get beaten and

George Washington Carver s Contributions To Society
Have you ever heard of The Peanut Man. I will be explaining George Washington Carver in these
ways of his contributions to society from his agriculture discoveries to his inventions such as the
cotton paving blocks. He created multiple inventions most to the benefit of society such as
soap, coffee, and bread made from peanuts. He went from a poor slave boy on a farm to making
over 300 inventions from peanuts he could possibly be of the greatest minds in american history.
In this essay I will discuss how George Washington Carvermade contributions to society that
include his discoveries, generosity, and his inventions.
First, I will discuss how Carver made discoveries to help people. In his article the author states
Carver studied under some of the leading agriculture thinkers and imbibed on their faith and
practical ecology . In Alabama, this training ran up against the realities of cotton farming . He
realized that counseling poor farmers to buy new tools would do little to improve their farms .

he was so generous because some people would just keep their inventions and patents to themselves

Documentary Photography During The Progressive Era
During the Progressive Era, documentary photography progressed into a form of communication.
Photography during this time was a way to tell the public a story. The progressive era was not
only a social movement but also a political reform. Many progressives exposed problems society
faced such as: poverty, child labor, violence, and political corruption. Documentary photographyhad
many important players during the Progressive Era. One of the most familiar is George Eastmanand
the Kodak.
On July 12, 1854 George Eastman was born in Waterville, New York. According to the article,
George Eastman , published online by Who Made America, Eastman was raised by his mother

Similarities Between The Balloon And The Red Balloon

Love and Friendship
Stopping for a few seconds to admire a flower, an insect, a phenomenon of nature, an architecture,
etc., in days full of worries, have become memorable. Also, all these seconds sent me every time
into a wonderful world, just like Confucius said, Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it
. The short films The Balloon directed by Martynas Zaremba and The Red Balloon directed by
Albert Lamorisse have the plot people s reaction for a few seconds at sight of a black balloon.
The Balloon film submits a series of reactions from various people in the city caused by a simple
black balloon with no intended meaning. The balloon starts to appear above the city one night
while people were sleeping. The Red Balloon , too shows an emotional story of friendship
between a boy called Pascal, and his red balloon. The writer and director Lamorisse succeeds
through fiction to combine reality, the wonder, and the magic of this friendship. In both short
films, the main focus is a floating balloon, but I believe that their differences are more striking
than their similarities. Both films The Balloon and The Red Balloon have a similar high point.
In my opinion The Balloon high point is that when the balloon appears on a street where a bad
boy with a knife in his hand is ready to commit an act of violence. The presence of the balloon in
that area stops the bad boy to commit it. Moreover, the bad boy looks his way to sky to admire
the balloon for a few seconds. Likewise, the balloon from Lamorisse s film avoid an act of
violence. For example, a gang of older kids chases Pascal around city, determined to steal and
destroy his balloon. The red balloon performs a miracle, it saves little Pascal from that chase. It
sacrifices itself and lets itself tortured with stones to save Pascal s life. Furthermore, the red
balloon dies for this cause. However, in three distinct ways, The Balloon and The Red Balloon
films are almost opposites. First of all, their score is very different. The Balloon film sound
source is the song with lyrics titled Time to Leave of the band Suicide DJs. The lyrics can provide
depth, powerful to the song, and make the audience to

Although he d been forgiven, Molly s parents did not allow Charlie or Tom near her anymore.
Molly communicated to Tom in secret and Tom would give letters from Charlie to Molly. A few

Charlie didn t get in trouble but Molly did. Later, Molly s parents found out she was pregnant

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Essay
Henrietta Lacks is not a common household name, yet in the scientific and medical world it has
become one of the most important and talked names of the century. Up until the time that this book
was written, very few people knew of Henrietta Lacks and how her cells contributed to modern
science, but Rebecca Sklootaimed to change this. Eventually Skloot was able to reach Henrietta s
remaining family and through them she was able to tell the story of not only the importance of the

Then it was transferred to George Gey s lab, where they would cultivate it and attempt to grow
new cells from the sample, however, there was not much hope for the sample, as they all
eventually died within days, sometimes even hours. Henrietta s cells changed this, after
multiple days of being cultivated and still living, Gey began to realize that he had discovered
something amazing, and he slowly started to share his discovery with the world. When the cells
finally began growing in Gey s lab it was seen as a huge advance in the world of science, seeing
as no one had succeeded beforehand, this was a great accomplishment on his part. However,
Henrietta was never told of this or how important her cells had become, she simply continued
living without knowing that the cancerous cells inside her were continuing to grow despite
receiving treatment from the doctors. Her only treatment was a small patch of radiation sewn
directly into her cervix on the area where the tumor had appeared, after some tests showed that the
tumor had disappeared she continued with her normal life of farming, raising her children, and
enjoying life. Henrietta never complained about any side effects of the radiation, however, it
eventually would make her infertile and cause her skin on her torso to turn black. Dr. Gey

CLA Supplement
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) has been confirmed to accelerate weight loss and reduce body fat
in obese people. Studies have shown that CLA can end up in the fight against cancer, reduce body
fat, increase lean muscle tissue, reduces the symptoms of asthma, to combat high blood pressure
and heart disease, increase bone density increases insulinsensitivity and stimulates immunity. It is
easy to see how CLA can be considered a miracle supplement.

Bad fats are hydrogenated oils, soybeans, and cheap vegetable oils. Healthy oils include olive oil,
peanut oil, and linseed oil. Stick to healthier oils and avoid bad fats in combination with
supplements, can help you achieve healthy levels of triglycerides.

CLA supplement helps build muscle, and at the same time burn fats.CLA prevents muscle mass
by using fat as fuel, rather than destroy muscle protein for fuel. Since the body is always breaking

Thurgood Marshall Essay
Thurgood Marshall was a great African American Civil Rights activist who changed a lot of
lives in the United States. As a passionate lawyer and prominent Supreme Court justice he fought
for Civil Rights and social justice in the courts and believed that racial integration is best for all
schools. Very early in his professional life Marshall broke down racial barriers and overcame
resistance despite the odds. He then became a role model of the disciplined leader, although he
didn t have the religious qualities or charisma as Martin Luther King. However, in terms of
achievements, most of us would agree that he should be ranked next to Martin Luther King Jr.

moral and performance standard. President Johnson appointed Marshall to the US Supreme
Court in 1967, where he served until 1991. Marshall also served as top aide to President Bill
Clinton until his death in 1993. (3, 84) Marshall will be remembered for all his efforts in trying
to put an end to racial segregation. He spent considerable time to work the Supreme Court to end
the lasting legacy of slavery in the US. Quite evidently, he worked for the good of American
society. Thurgood never wanted to lead protests but to peaceably pioneer civil rights
movements. He found he was achieving a long held ambition which placed him in the lead of
the social revolution to end racial segregation. (4, 67) For this reason his life became very
important in shaping the American society today. He also did many important things as a judge.
He fought for individual rights and equality. His efforts helped to put an end to all racial
segregation and discrimination against all African Americans in this country. Marshall did not
only fight for equality in his fellow Africans, but also put important decisions as a Supreme Court
judge regarding the environment, the right of appeal of people convicted of drug charges, failure

from each module; negotiation, mediation, policy analysis, crisis game, and speech training, can be

The negotiation skills workshop gave me both theoretical and pragmatic skills in negotiation.

One important thing that I learnt from this skill is that sometimes you might not need to speak a lot
or try to speak all the time, but the important thing is that you should try to see which actor shares
the same opinion as you and whether that actor is strong enough to act on your behalf. This was
really obvious in the activity of multilateral negotiations on negotiating intervention in a civil
conflict where I played Iraq. I found that Iraq shared a lot in common with the Arab states,
especially Iran on the Syrian issues. Balancing interests in the negotiation through the Arab
countries helped Iraq protect its interests. Without speaking much, but allying very well with Iran
and balancing the interests with the Arab states, it turned out that I gained the highest score in my
group.
However, there was one thing I found quite unrealistic about this activity. That was the rule on
unanimous agreement. I do not think this can be applied in the real world situation. I think that it
would be better if we do not need to stick on this. The unanimous rule made some players concede
too much, and that did not reflect real international negotiations. The role play on Six party talks
was both fun and useful. This role play gave me a chance to practice more skills on negotiation
and chairing. This activity really showed the difficulties of negotiations on issues that are really
critical to national survival. The North Korean issue was very

How The Corset Evolved From A Staple Of The British...
¬¬¬¬¬The fall and rise of the corset: From Queen Victoria to Jean Paul Gaultier. In this
essay I want to examine how the corset evolved from a staple of the British feminine wardrobe of
the Nineteenth Century into a symbol of an outmoded tradition only to later return as a statement
of female liberation. I am going to look at different aspects of this development including
technological advances, economic facts, external events, particularly the First World War and
changes in social, political and aesthetic attitudes. I will also look briefly at the role of Chanel on
the silhouette and how this impacted on the corset: focusing on the trend to towards opulent
androgyny in the 1920 s. Finally I will examine the resurgence of the corset... Show more content

Laces usually fastened corsets at the back and were drawn tightly to alter the silhouette. The
product was a wasp waist effect, or as some have expressed, the hour glass figure .
The corset was of course associated with high society and was an important signifier of social
class. For example in the grand balls that often featured in Victorian novels, a restrictive corset was
part of the essential uniform Becky Sharpe in Vanity Fair for example. It also became associated
with the dandy aesthetic of the late Nineteenth Century (Oscar Wilde being an example) when it
was worn by men.
In the latter part of the Victorian era there were significant developments signaling the decline of
the corset. The way garments were produced is perhaps the key factor in the move away from
the corset. In 1839, a Frenchman by the name of Jean Werly patented a loom for the production
of women s corsets. This type of corset was popular until 1890, when machine made corsets
gained popularity. The development of the sewing machine in the early 1850 s gradually led to
mass production, manufacturers could produce corsets in far greater numbers and increase the
variety of designs available to women of all classes. These advances finally led the way to new
designs in underwear in keeping with the changes to the fashions and silhouettes of the early
Twentieth Century.

capacity to get to software/programming applications over the web. The applications are
facilitated in the cloud and can be utilized for an extensive variety of errands for both people and

Advantages There are various reasons why SaaS is useful to associations and individual clients
alike. No extra equipment costs; the handling force needed to run the applications is supplied by
the cloud supplier. No starting setup costs; applications are prepared to utilize once the client
subscribes. Pay for what you utilize; if a bit of programming is required for a constrained period
then it is paid for over that period and memberships can as a rule be ended whenever. Utilization
is adaptable; if a client chooses they require more capacity or extra administrations, for instance,
then they can get to these on interest without expecting to put in new programming or
equipment. Redesigns are mechanized; at whatever point there is an upgrade it is accessible
online to existing clients, regularly gratis. No new software will be needed as it regularly is
with different sorts of utilizations and the upgrades will more often than not be sent naturally by
the cloud supplier. Cross gadget similarity; SaaS applications can be gotten to by means of any
web empowered gadget, which makes it perfect for the individuals who utilize various distinctive
gadgets, for example, web empowered telephones and tablets, and the individuals who don t
generally utilize the same PC. Open from any area; instead of being confined to establishments on
individual PCs, an application can be gotten to from anyplace with a web empowered gadget.

In other words, some people refer to evil as sin and suffering; others think of it as a separation from
God while still more people personify it in the form of satan. My purpose here is not to discuss
what form evil may take in an individual s life even though it may come up periodically. The
central fact remains that evil, in one form or another, does exist and anyone not willing to
believe in this reality quite frankly lives in a different dimension. Either that, or they simply live
in a total state of denial! Keeping all this in mind, what I want to accomplish in this paper is to
first explore the idea that evil is a relative term that exists within the context of each situation.

through personal interviews and then end on a more personal note, using the help of my life
experience as a Christian. This topic hits me hard at times. I often find myself in reflection,
trying to formulate an answer to the evil that I see, and yes, the evil that I do. This evil will
sometimes leave me feeling totally powerless and at its mercy. Yet I never give up hope for I

Nasa s Space Exploration
When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not
describe it fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth
exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has
turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which
there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said
to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of
humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries
like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more

One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows
the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life
outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another
argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way.
According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of
money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet.
(9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests
depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would
allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by
humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet
so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of
our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and
that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. (11)
This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered, but Westfahl fails to acknowledge
that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our universe and our planet. This
allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to a greater understanding of

Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
The Importance of the Struggle in A Raisin in the Sun
Why do some people persist despite insurmountable obstacles, while others give up quickly or
never bother to try (Gunton 118)? A Raisin in the Sun, a play by Lorraine Hansberry, is a
commentary on life and our struggle to comprehend and control it. The last scene in the play
between Asagai and Beneatha contrasts two contemporary views on why we keep on trying to
change the future, and reaches the conclusion that, far from being a means to an end, the real
meaning of life is the struggle. Whether we succeed or not, our lives are purposeful only if we
have tried to make the world a better place for ourselves and others only, in other words, if we
follow our dreams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was in this sort of mood that Beneatha formulated an idea about the sheer stupidity and cruelty
of nature in general and people in specific: Don t you see there isn t any real progress, there is
only one large circle that we march in, around and around, each of us with our own little picture in
front of us our own little mirage that we think is the future (Hansberry. Raisin). Misery and
stupidity are always present: man does not seem capable of eliminating them once and for all.
Their existence conspires to thwart dreams, and Beneatha decided that she was tired of the
struggle, tired of deluding herself with an unworkable vision, tired of having to fight against the
unchangeable facts of life a view she might have kept, as many have, if it were not for Asagai s
gentle reasoning.
For Asagai, the struggle to achieve our own views of the future was the real essence of life. His
was the generation of African dreamers who passionately advocated the independence of their
continent from colonial rule, for whom revolution and upheaval were generally perceived as the
only ways to improve the lot of their homelands. In his country, he lived daily with oppression,
misery, and ignorance, met constantly with apathy and indifference or even outright hostility
towards his life s aspirations, and yet his determination never faltered. In his short

  • 2. Emily Dickinson s The Narrow Fellow In The Grass The Narrow Fellow in The Grass is a poem by Emily Dickinson who portrays the hidden creature in the grass. In the starting we are curious to learn more about the creature and figure out its character. Halfway through the poem, the poetess gives evidences of the snake s constant appearances and disappearances. This tends the reader to perceive the snake to be a trickster leading to a sense of deception. Deception is very relevant to the prevailing occurrences. One finest example can be false advertising. False advertising is something which is misleading and can be unpredictable. The sellers advertise their products and services to draw attention from the customers. Such advertisements are to deceive the customers. The sellers want to obtain new clients by misrepresenting the features and its appearance from their natural structure or pattern. Usually, such ads hide their cons and embellish their pros. One of the case where false advertisements have been too deceptive is an advertisement by Wal Mart. It had advertised a nationwide sale on coke. It charged the customers more than the advertised sale price in more than hundred stores. Further, it was determined that the cash... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As there are many competitors, one may fall into the trap of fraudulent related activities. They can gain more customers by simply exaggerating the good features. They end up delivering vague and unbelievable statements. There exists more fraud in online ads because many of them totally differ in the actual products when compared to their ads. There are many complaints on the images displayed on the ad. They vary in colour, size, quality, price, etc. The fundamental purpose of an advertisement is to communicate the product s actual features. Most of them fail to convey the actual state. This leads to the customer s sceptical behaviour towards the producer/ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Essay on Global Warming Global Warming A Problem Blown Out of Proportion It is ironic that fifty two years before hosting the 1997 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, the city of Kyoto had barely missed being destroyed. It was one of four cities considered as primary targets by President Harry Truman s secretary of war, Henry L. Stimson. The others were Kokura, Hiroshima, and Niigata. Gale E. Christianson describes Kyoto in her book Greenhouse as a magnificent city surpassed only by Tokyo in the number of its institutions of higher learning. Historic evidence supports the idea that warmer climates are beneficial for human activities, food production, and health. Cold periods have had the opposite affect. The argument against global warming is divided into two schools of thought. The first is that scientific evidence proves that the earth is not warming and the issue has been artificially manufactured. The second school of thought is that warming is occurring. However, this warming is naturally occurring regardless of how we treat the environment and this warming is beneficial to us for a variety of reasons which I will explain. Scientific data collected over the over the last 140 years suggesting that there is global warming has been replaced with satellites. Satellites, which measure temperatures all over the world, show no real trend in any direction, in fact in recent decades, they show a global cooling. Jerry Taylor, director of Cato Institute s Natural Resource Studies, observed that NASA satellites and weather balloons show a slight cooling trend over the past 19 years. Taylor points out that previous land based data only unevenly covers the three quarters of the earth s surface covered by oceans and virtually ignores polar regions (Taylor 2). • 5. The Unjust Society Of Selfish Society In John Locke s... The Unjust Society of Selfish Men Can a man s private interests result in an unjust society? In John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, Locke explains that private interests lead to injustice. Private interests lead to an individual s desire for power which is the over arching theme in men s interest. Everything a man does he does for himself and his prosperity, instead of living in a state of equality. Selfish desires always lead to injustice because man consequently deprives others of what he has achieved. The violation of the rights of others is unjust, so by working for self gain, men deprive others rights. Since men live in a state of equality, treating others with fairness maintains that state. Unfortunately, men are naturally selfish, which means they live through their own self interest, and for their own self gain. Moreover, through a man s self interests equality does not exist, which leads to an unjust society. A man s self interests result in an unjust treatment of others, because as he works for his own self prosperity he is depriving others of the same opportunities. Injustice is a result of a man s self interests, such as wealth, property, and the desire of authority. The amount of wealth a man possesses determines his level of power, which leads to an unjust society. The amount of money a person possesses also determines his quantity of wealth. A man earns money, charged on the account of labour (Ch. V, Sec. 43, pg. 27), which means the large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seat belt usage rates increased from 17% to 79% in the U.S. between 1983 and 2003 (Houston Richardson, 2006). All U.S. states except New Hampshire have mandatory seat beltlaws for adults. Currently, there are two types of seat belt enforcement, primary and secondary. To date, 34 states have a primary enforcement law which allows a police officer to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicleand issue a citation for no other reason than the fact that the driver is not wearing a seat belt. A benefit to a state having a primary enforcement law is that in 2016 seat belt usage was up 92% according to the CDC (2017). A secondary seat belt enforcement law requires a police officer to have a separate traffic infraction, such as speeding, before being allowed to cite a driver for not wearing a seat belt. There are 15 states which currently operate under a secondary seat belt law. According to research provided by the CDC, states with secondary seat belt enforcement action had an increase in seat belt usage by 83% in 2016 (2017). It is unclear if states with primary enforcement action have less serious or fatal injury vehicle crashes than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When considering which visa would be appropriate, Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) and Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) are two visas that may be suited to this situation. Featured on the banknotes are important Australian figures such as the first female member of Australian parliament, Edith Cowan, and the founder of the world s first air ambulance, John Flynn. Conversely, the coinage of Australia comes in only two colors of silver and gold as well as featuring iconic animals and plants of Australia. Denominations of coins go from 5в‚µ to $2. • 10. Analysis of the Theme of Survival in Auschwitz Essay Survival in Auschwitz tells of the horrifying and inhuman conditions of life in the Auschwitz death camp as personally witnessed and experienced by the author, Primo Levi. Levi is an Italian Jew and chemist, who at the age of twenty five, was arrested with an Italian resistance group and sent to the Nazi Auschwitz death camp in Poland in the end of 1943. For ten terrible months, Levi endured the cruel and inhuman death camp where men slaved away until it was time for them to die. Levi thoroughly presents the hopeless existence of the prisoners in Auschwitz, whose most basic human rights were stripped away, when in Chapter 2 he states, Imagine now a man who is deprived of everyone he loves, and at the same time of his house, his habits,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Chapter 6, Levi tells how Kapos, beat us from pure bestiality and violence, but others beat us when we are under a load almost lovingly, accompanying the blows with exhortations, as cart drivers do with willing horses (67). A further aspect of Survival in Auschwitz that reinforces the dehumanizing effect of the death camp on the Jewish prisoners is the constant presence of hunger and starvation among the prisoners. Food and its acquisition and consumption are a constant topic that Primo Levi discusses because it constantly occupied the minds of most prisoners. Levi states, We have learnt the value of food; now we also diligently scrape the bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under our chins when we eat bread so as not to lose the crumbs (33). Bread and soup are the only things prisoners in the camp receive and whether you are served soup from the top or the bottom is of great importance. The prisoners would try to get soup from the bottom half of the vat because soup from the upper portion is mostly watery broth whereas soup from the bottom portion contains more vegetables pieces (33). The insatiable desire for food would lead prisoners to act in very animalistic ways. Upon waking up in the morning, prisoners would quickly make their beds and then run to the latrines urinating while they run to save time, because within five minutes begins the ... Most of these people I work with at a daycare. We all handle and serve breast milk on a daily basis. Also we watch mothers nurse their infants. Yet, the reaction did not surprise me, even with this comfort level with human breast milk. This reaction falls along the line of disgust and shock. Culture forms as sense of who we are in the larger community in which we exist among. This connection shapes the rules we follow to exist to peacefully live with one another. The culture we grow up in shapes our relationship with food. For better or worse, depending on if we accept and live up to the cultural norms presented to us. For those who choose to not follow them will be faced with consequences for rejecting theses norms. For me, the sub culture of my family in the United States has had a major impact of what food taboos I hold. I was raised on a very limited palate of food diversity and was rarely challenged to try new or unique food. This is only made worse by having Asperger s Syndrome, which, causes sensory issues related to food. It can relate to any of the senses related to eating or cooking. The geometry and shapes in the painting are imaginative and outrageous, with bright colors and shapes of boats and flowers that are, to some extent humorous, except for the profound suffering of the women. The eyes of the women are shaped as boats within a rough sea, spilling tears in the form of diamonds. Diamond shaped tears are also the nails of her hands, held up to her face in fright. There are many similarities and differences between the Yanomamo and Samoan peoples. Cultural differences and similarities need to be paid attention to. Also, the similarities need to be celebrated. The Samoans and Yanomamo have different and similar subsistence methods, division of labor, occupational specialization, exchange of goods, and the economic link to power. The differences and similarities between the Yanomamo and Samoan peoples are striking and deserve thorough examination. The first aspect of Samoan and Yanomamo life that is different is subsistence methods. The Yanomamo have different forms of subsistence than the Samoans. The Samoans mainly rely on agriculture. According to Peters=Golden, clearing the land for planting is hard work. (Peters Golden 225) The Samoans use cutting tools like axes and knives get rid of trees and bushes and other foliage. The Samoans also use small fires to eliminate everything else. Peters Golden writes that digging sticks are then employed to dislodge rocks and loosen the soil for planting. (Peters Golden 225) Similarly to the Samoans, the Yanomamo also rely on agriculture. However, they also utilize foraging, unlike the Samoans. The Yanomamo also hunt, and, similarly to the Samoans, they fish. (Peters Golden 226, 271) Despite that, Peters Golden says that the bulk of Yanomamo food (more than 80 percent) is grown in their village gardens. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Effect Of Ocean Acidification On The Rates Of Calcium... INTRODUCTION/ABSTRACT For the past 200 years, the rapid increase in atmospheric CO2 continues to be produced by, the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrialization, cement production, and other land use changes. The ocean absorbs much of this excess CO2 through air sea gas exchange, resulting in changes in seawater chemistry. Due to human made emissions, the CO2 content of the oceans has dramatically increased and is gradually acidifying the surface waters. As a result of human made emissions, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and oceans has increased dramatically during recent decades. In the ocean, the accumulating CO2 is gradually acidifying the surface waters, making it difficult for shelled organisms such as corals and certain open sea plankton to build their calcium carbonate skeletons. Since this process affects the functioning of several marine ecosystems, it has been massively studied in recent years. However, getting an accurate measure is complicated because the effect of ocean acidification on the rates of calcium produced by marine organisms is extremely variable and its species specific. Since scientists incline to use local and site specific field measurements, treating reef environments and open sea environments separately, their measurements reflect the local response of individual organisms to elevated CO2 levels, leaving out the overall picture. RESEARCH Increasing concentrations of CO2 in the world s oceans has resulted with serious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Charles Darwin s Influence Of Evolution On The Galapagos... Evolution is a theory that is supported with evidence that characteristics of living organisms change over generations. A species can change over time and may even split into two new species through a process called Speciation. Each new species adapts to its new environment through adaptability. This is the ability of an organism to change its physical and chemical nature to adjust to its surroundings. For example, adaptive radiation is a form of evolutionthat Charles Darwinhad discovered. He observed the different species of finches on the Galapagos Islands. There are at least 13 species of finches, and each has developed a different shaped beak, a thin beak for those who ate insects, and a thicker beak for those species that ate large seeds.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another influence is mutation. Mutation is a source of variation. This variation can be helpful in survival for an organism. Mutations are the changes that occur in the DNA. A single DNA mutation can have a large effect, but in the case of evolutionary change, this variation is based on the gathering of many different mutations. Another form of mutation can occur within the same species is through isolation. If a tsunami breaks out and causes a separation in wild life, one of the species can be affected with a mutation, causing a change in species, while the other doesn t get affected. Darwin s findings on Galapagos Islands are perfect examples that demonstrate the effects that isolations and mutations (including environmental changes) have on species. Environmental changes ties into the influences of evolution. An organism can change its physical and chemical nature to adjust to its surrounding. Over time, a certain species will die out due to lack of survival in the environment, and a new species will evolve. Environmental change also forces the organism to adapt to the new environment. For example, if a species is limited to eating a certain type of plant, and a change occurs, like a mold breaks out and kills most of it, that species has to either evolve to engulf the fungus, or find something else to ... • 27. Trojan War Analysis The story of the Trojan war has fascinated humans for centuries and has given rise to countless scholarly articles and books, extensive archaeological excavations, epic movies, television documentaries, stage plays, art and sculptures, souvenirs and collectibles. But the real question is, was homer a real person? Certainly heroes, from Achilles to Hector, are portrayed so credibly that is easy to believe the story is based from true events. But is it truly an account based on real events? And were the main characters actually real people? Would the ancient worlds equivalent of the entire nation of Greece really have gone to war over a single woman, however beautiful, and for ten long years at the? There is both considerable and uncertain archaeological and written evidence to support the occurrence of the famous Trojan War. Various sources have referred to a great war occurring in the 13th century involving the Greek city Mycenae and the successful independent city of Troy. The discovery of archaeological evidence by various archaeologists such as Schliemann, Dorpfeld and Korfmann support the theory that the Trojan war did in fact occur, expelling the uncertainty over Troy s significance. In addition to this, there is an extreme amount of evidence to declare Mycenae s motive and role within the war. CoreLogic estimates approximately $13 billion in fraud losses occurred in 2012, according to the latest available data in the 2012 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report (Gerding, 2013). While these numbers may seem high, the approximate $13 billion in losses is only a fraction of what it would be if every case were to be prosecuted. Mortgagefraudwas also a major contributing factor towards a national, and nearly global economic collapse in 2008 when the United States economy saw the worst recession it has seen since the great depression. • 36. Electrolysis Essay Electrolysis is the direct passing of an electric current that follows through an ionic substance that is molten or dissolved in a suitable solvent, which makes electrodes and separated materials. Electrolysis begins when an electrical current flows out of one pole of energy into one electrode, which is called the cathode. Electrolysisoccurs when electrical energy is used to produce a chemical change. Sulfuric acid, also known as ( H2SO4) , is commonly used in Electrolysis (Net Industries). Electrolysis can only be produced by energy being pumped or pulled into water. A best known example of Electrolysis is decomposition of water to produce hydrogen and oxygen (Net Industries). When an electrical current passes through a water current, hydrogen bubbles are produced. Every two water molecules have been decomposed into two hydrogen molecules, after Electrolysis have turned an ionic substance into a dissolved, suitable substance. ( Net Industries). Water must be dissolved in salt to be made an electrode. An electrode is a conductor through which electricity enters or leaves an object or a substance. The net result of two electrode reactions added together is ( H + ions + 4 OH ions ). After the Green Knight rides away, it reveals to Gawain the importance of the promise made with the Green Knight. Describe In Detail 5 Forms Of Punishments In medieval times the community believed the only way to ensure a crimeless village was to make the villages afraid of the punishments they could receive. They aimed to create the punishments painful, humiliating and possibly permanent. Describe in detail 5 different forms of punishments Ducking stool The ducking stool was a hand crafted wooden chair connected to an adjustable beam. This was a form of imprisonment and torture. This punishment could vary from 1 or a couple dunks to a large amount of dunks spread out throughout the day. This punishment was made for women who were prostitutes or nagging wives. For example a woman who was a nagging wife, would be strapped to the stool, paraded around the village and then taken to the river. She was then dunked into the water 3 times. Scold s bridle The scold s bridle was a metal head piece, that was strapped to a woman s head. The head piece came with a spiky metal strip that would sit on top of the tongue. Similarities Between The Balloon And The Red Balloon GEORGETA HARPAD ESL 101 JOBST Love and Friendship Stopping for a few seconds to admire a flower, an insect, a phenomenon of nature, an architecture, etc., in days full of worries, have become memorable. Also, all these seconds sent me every time into a wonderful world, just like Confucius said, Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it . The short films The Balloon directed by Martynas Zaremba and The Red Balloon directed by Albert Lamorisse have the plot people s reaction for a few seconds at sight of a black balloon. The Balloon film submits a series of reactions from various people in the city caused by a simple black balloon with no intended meaning. The balloon starts to appear above the city one night while people were sleeping. The Red Balloon , too shows an emotional story of friendship between a boy called Pascal, and his red balloon. The writer and director Lamorisse succeeds through fiction to combine reality, the wonder, and the magic of this friendship. In both short films, the main focus is a floating balloon, but I believe that their differences are more striking than their similarities. Both films The Balloon and The Red Balloon have a similar high point. In my opinion The Balloon high point is that when the balloon appears on a street where a bad boy with a knife in his hand is ready to commit an act of violence. The presence of the balloon in that area stops the bad boy to commit it. Moreover, the bad boy looks his way to sky to admire the balloon for a few seconds. Likewise, the balloon from Lamorisse s film avoid an act of violence. For example, a gang of older kids chases Pascal around city, determined to steal and destroy his balloon. The red balloon performs a miracle, it saves little Pascal from that chase. It sacrifices itself and lets itself tortured with stones to save Pascal s life. Furthermore, the red balloon dies for this cause. However, in three distinct ways, The Balloon and The Red Balloon films are almost opposites. First of all, their score is very different. The Balloon film sound source is the song with lyrics titled Time to Leave of the band Suicide DJs. The lyrics can provide depth, powerful to the song, and make the audience to ... The product was a wasp waist effect, or as some have expressed, the hour glass figure . The corset was of course associated with high society and was an important signifier of social class. For example in the grand balls that often featured in Victorian novels, a restrictive corset was part of the essential uniform Becky Sharpe in Vanity Fair for example. It also became associated with the dandy aesthetic of the late Nineteenth Century (Oscar Wilde being an example) when it was worn by men. In the latter part of the Victorian era there were significant developments signaling the decline of the corset. The way garments were produced is perhaps the key factor in the move away from the corset. In 1839, a Frenchman by the name of Jean Werly patented a loom for the production of women s corsets. This type of corset was popular until 1890, when machine made corsets gained popularity. The development of the sewing machine in the early 1850 s gradually led to mass production, manufacturers could produce corsets in far greater numbers and increase the variety of designs available to women of all classes. A Raisin in the Sun, a play by Lorraine Hansberry, is a commentary on life and our struggle to comprehend and control it. The last scene in the play between Asagai and Beneatha contrasts two contemporary views on why we keep on trying to change the future, and reaches the conclusion that, far from being a means to an end, the real meaning of life is the struggle. Their existence conspires to thwart dreams, and Beneatha decided that she was tired of the struggle, tired of deluding herself with an unworkable vision, tired of having to fight against the unchangeable facts of life a view she might have kept, as many have, if it were not for Asagai s gentle reasoning.
