Ritz Carlton Strategic Planing Essay
The Ritz Carlton is synonymous with luxury. The strategic planning throughout all aspects of it
experience has contributed to their reputation as a world class luxury hotel. Ritz Carlton s ability to
remain so successful has not been by accident or luck but by implementing a business plan that has
reevaluated its service design processes in order to deliver more experientially based employee and
customer engagement. (Nixon amp; Rieple, 2010) The management team of Ritz Carlton built a
business plan that puts its focus on who their customers are and what their definition of luxury is. The
Ritz Carlton no longer sees its self as a hotel company; it now considers itself an experience and
memory creator. (Nixon amp; Rieple, 2010) This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability to standardize the each locations management plan to account for regional differences is
the reason for the Ritz Carlton s success. The success of adapting to each location s unique attribute
has produced a better experience for the Ritz Carlton s guest. Their business plan has been designed to
identify their target customer and what they value as luxury. The management team has identified the
critical process that every location has to implement. This standardization provides the structure for
the property manager to focus on the experiences of the customer. By using these different elements to
gather feedback for problems and solutions, they are developing the key process to anticipate a
customer s needs. The collection, analysis and distribution of information, including output and
quality reports on a company s process (Brown, Curry, Jeffery amp; Edmund, 2003 Pg 100) is exactly
what the Ritz Carlton management team has implemented. Their ability to anticipate their customer s
wants and needs has set them apart from their competition regardless of location and workforce.

Childhood Illnesses and Injuries Essay
It is very important for a new parent or a child care giver to be aware of the most common illnesses
and minor injuries that could occur to these children. Kids depend on us care givers to take care of
them. Even though most trauma injuries are accidents many of them could also be prevented or
stopped with the proper education. To be alert of these illness could help not only one child but many
others too. We should be prepared and well educated on how we could prevent this. With so many
infectious diseases arising on this day is it easy to catch anything any where. Here are some examples

Some people may not know how deadly and fatal these illnesses could be and it is critical to be
mindful on how we could help our children to prevent virulent diseases. Children are very fragile and
they could easily get sick or hurt. Not only illness could hurt them but also minor injuries such as head
bumps, cuts or scrapes, nosebleeds, burns, squashed finger or toe. Children are full of life all they
want to do is explore their surroundings. Inevitably in some occasions children get hurt despite the
care that the chid care gives them. Time is am important factor when it comes to injuries, knowing
what to do and doing it correctly without injuring the child

The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument...
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God
The cosmological argument seeks to prove the existence of God by looking at the universe. It is an A
posteriori proof based on experience and the observation of the world not logic so the outcome is
probable or possible not definite. The argument is in three forms; motion, causation and being. These
are also the first three ways in the five ways presented by Aquinas through which he believed the
existence of God could be shown. Aquinas regarded Aristotle as the principal philosopher so many of
these concepts originate in the thinking of Aristotle.
One example of the cosmological argument is the argument of ... Show more content on

Therefore, it is more believable that the universe had a beginning and a personal creator.
The third of Aquinas ways is the argument of contingency. The world consists of contingent items
items that have a property are items referred to as being. These items are generated and perish; they
have a beginning and an end. There must have once been a time when nothing existed. But then how
did these items come into being? There must be something or someone able to bring other items into
being without itself being brought into being. This necessary being is God.
These arguments are strong ones for the existence of God, built upon clear and apparently true
observations of the world around us. However, there are many criticisms. Hume argued that both
Thomas Aquinas and William Lane Craig contradict themselves by firstly denying the possibility of
the infinite, but then claiming that there must have been an infinite being. How can this be so?
Supporters of the argument could use the idea that God is unique and outside the laws of nature. But
even so, this point weakens the argument as there is no proof of the attributes of God.
Many may ask these questions: Why does the universe have to be caused? Why cannot it always have
been there? The human mind seems incapable of comprehending the idea of infinity, yet we accept the
idea of an immortal being. A

Marx And Durkheim
My project medium consisted of three individual limerick poems that I chose to write about Marx,
Weber, and Durkheim. Within each poem, I incorporated each sociologists name and included one of
the main concepts that we discussed in class about them. For my Marx poem, I incorporated how he
saw Capitalism as a problematic economic system and included some of the problems that are
prevalent in societies that it has been implemented in. In my Weber poem, I involved a couple of
strengths and different aspects that bureaucracies are known for that we had discussed in class.
Finally, for my Durkheim poem, I included a portion of the basic characteristics of both the organic
and mechanical solidarity concepts that were developed by him. I ended

Weaknesses Of Democracy In Spain
Analyze the reasons for the weaknesses and collapse of democracy between 1918 and 1939 in Spain
Democracy was a relatively unknown political system for the Spanish. Instead, Spain was typically
ruled by a monarchy or dictatorship, having only experienced democracy for a year in the 1870s. It
was only in 1931, when Spain attempted to reintroduce democracy. Although, the Second Spanish
Republic did not last very long, due to it s poor environment. The lack of experience of working
within a democratic system, the polarization of the Spanish populace, a high degree of fragmentation
within the pole, and the substantial level of inequality in Spain during this time period were all key
weaknesses that led to the collapse of democracy in Spain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
As a result of the recession, there was a large gap between the rich and the poor within Spain. Due to
this situation, the sustainability of democracy in Spain became questionable as the poor didn t trust the
wealthy and wanted to change things, creating a divide within Spain. The large structural barrier
between the two classes didn t allow the poor classes to move out of their wretched situation. Social
and economic structural problems were undoubtedly severe, the worst being the plight of the newly
two million landless farmworkers and their families, a plight made much more conflictive by the fact
that Spain was now a rapidly country with democratic mass mobilization. The low wages, limited
productivity and poor living conditions of four million more urban workers in the industry. This drove
them to want change in the form of democracy allowing them to have a say in their future. Although,
the obduracy of the conservative and the privileged, and the unwillingness of the main party of the
right, the CEDA, to accept the Republic and the readjustment of the wealth necessary to make
democracy work (Blinkhorn 37). Many historians have sought to criticize the attempt to democratize a
country so clearly and grossly racked by inequality. Without a common consensus among the people,
democracy s fate within Spain became

Seattle Population Legalization
Living far away from my high school, taking the bus became part of my morning routine. It was
extremely frustrating because there wasn t a bus in my neighborhood that went straight to my school. I
had no other choice than to take two buses to get to school. The problem wasn t that it wasn t
convenient, but rather it took up a lot of time. The first bus came exactly at 6:00 AM. It would go up a
long stretch until it stopped on Lander Street, where I would catch the next bus. Depending on traffic,
the next bus would either take 30 minutes or 1 hour. Sometimes I would walk to school just because I
didn t want to miss my first period class. Altogether, two public transportation agencies serve the city

According to a Civil Engineering article, an engineering group was awarded a $169 million contract to
design and build a 1.6 mi extension of the Link, the Seattle metropolitan area s light rail line (Landers

Development of such projects: The Alaskan Way Viaduct, Elliott Bay Seawall Project, and King Street
Station Restoration (Major Projects), are reminiscent of a booming Seattle. These projects were
petitioned for by voters, who recognizing issues with transportation in the area, urged their Seattle
council representatives to fix the issues. As mentioned before, Seattle had started to develop its link
light rail line. Munnoch said that Sound Transit will finance up to 70% of the project, but is seeking
30% to 50% of the total cost from the Federal Transit Administration (qtd. in Seattle to Build $2

the project is in full effect and is expected to have stations in the Capitol Hill and UW (Location

Why Foreign Language Should be a Core Subject in Public Elementary School
The benefits of learning a foreign language go beyond learning a different culture or being able to
communicate with people of different backgrounds. It is essential that Americans speak languages
other than English in order to compete internationally, keep the country safe, and prepare children to
be world citizens. Several language organizations, educators, and policy makers have recommended
the introduction of a second language at the elementary school level as a way of assuring a high level
of language proficiency (Pufahl and Rhodes 273).
However, the reality of foreign language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Arizona, foreign language courses are not a requirement. According to Jill Campos, World
Language Academic Coach for the Scottsdale School District, foreign language is introduced for a
semester at 6th and 7th grades as an exploratory course. Eight graders can take the first year of a
world language for high school credit and continue, if they so choose, through the 5th year .
Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) report that the language areas of the
brain seem to go through the most dynamic period of growth between the ages of 6 and 13 (qtd. in
Talukder 3). The UCLA study instead suggests that the elementary and middle school years are the
biologically most advantageous times for acquisition of a second language (qtd. in Talukder 3). It is
during the first years of life that the foundations for thinking, language, vision, attitudes, aptitudes,
and other characteristics are laid down, says Ronald Kotulak, author of Inside the Brain (qtd. in
Dryden and Voss 266). Studies of the brain show that a second language is stored in the same part of
the brain as a first language when learned by age 8. After that age, a second language is stored in a
different part of the brain.
However, simply introducing a program at the elementary level is not enough. The second
recommendation is that a successful language program

Video Games And Its Effects On The World
Video games have been around since the 1950 s due to computer scientists designing and making A.I
and other simulators as research. The video games that people came to love were starting to be made
in the late 1970s to early 1980s. Some would say that games back then were much harder than the
games being produced today. The game Mega Man being a huge contributor to this statement, due to
its very challenging levels and boss stages. While some of that is true, there are games being made
today that are just as hard, if not harder than those made previously. A game that has become very

are the worst ways to get better at League of Legends. Why would someone want to start playing the
game? For one, there is a giant community of 67 million players (Stevenson) to be precise. Those who
can become the best at the game can even make some money playing it, by playing for a professional
team or streaming. Players that aren t so great at the game tend to copy whatever the best players are
doing because they believe: If that player did that well on X character, that means that champion is
good . While in some cases this is true, Those players have more knowledge about the characters in
the game, as well as how they play against other characters. So someone who is newer to the game
might not realize that, when X character is up against X champion, That they won t do as well as that
profesional player did. By copping something that another player has done that worked for them, does
not mean it will work for everyone and it most certainly wouldn t make a player better. It requires
knowledge that comes with practice. The only way to practice is by playing the game.
Starting with the game, there are many things that someone would need to know about the game.

human trafficking Essay
human trafficking issues:
the article starts out with a clear emphasis on the cooperation between the different segments of
society; cooperation between the state, civil society , and religious groups and institutions on the
issues of human trafficking and prostitution, stating how they are immoral, illegal, unethical and how
they should be considered as a taboo by societies in Europe, especially Cyprus since the exploitation
of women has been rapidly increasing recently. Where all the 800bars and 70 cabarets take advantage
of uneducated, poor, unlucky and socially corrupted women at the cost of reasons such as profit and
pleasure, which may seem as lame reasons when compared to the life and future of a young woman.

Another solution was the campaigning proposal, where protectors of human rights helped increase
public awareness of exactly what is going on and to what extent women are exploited. the article was
completely pro the abolishment of trafficking and prostitution practices and there were no arguments
or debates in defense of the practices taking place in society.
There are a number of measures that should be undertaken by society for the improvement of the
existing situation before it gets any worse, making it harder to fix later on, which would lead to a
degraded corrupted society in the possible near future. as the article mentioned, churches should be a
big part in the process of helping the exploited woman with the trauma their jobs brought to them.
Also, the public should be made clearly aware of the situation, and all the details included in the issue
of prostitution and how traffickers force it upon their employees.
Also, more patrollers should be made available to try and control the situation by arresting traffickers,
which may also scare off other traffickers involved in similar situations. These among many other
solutions deal with the short term perspective of these issues, but more extreme issues should be taken
into deep consideration for the general prevalence of such isuues to be significantly reduced in the
Cypriot society. But these major global problems are unfixable due to the mere

Jim Crow Laws And Apartheid
As a result of colonialism, the resistance in both the United States and South Africa was rising.
Throughout the history of the African civil rights movement are lessons that taught: Nationalism has
been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule and
modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and contrasting the
Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able to shape our understanding of conflicts, activism, and
reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their government worsened. To illustrate:
[The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but blacks . . . had more in common with
African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). Blinded by
racial prejudice, Congress passed Jim Crow Laws establishing a hierarchy based on the plantation
mentality and in 1948, the National Party (the Nats) made apartheid the official law (Bausum 2012,
14). In fact, both forms of segregation enforced poverty for coloured people and ensured [that
Caucasians had better quality] schools, hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For
example, African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather
than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Similarly, black South African workers received inadequate
pay and the law outlawed strikes and the formation of unions. In both cases, full time employees

I nominated the Reeve s Tale fifth as it is a great example of a fabliau. It remains humorous, even to a
modern audience. It also has instructional value, to an extent, as it features the cheating Miller getting

tales focus on mortals, while the Friar s tale features a demon as a main character. Similar to the Reeve
s tale as well, the story features a villain, the summoner, being punished for his wrongdoing. I
nominated the Pardoner s Tale third because it is interesting that the target of the moral preached by
the tale, seems to be the same character telling it. The Pardoner tells of three young men who happen

greediest characters in the Canterbury Tales. I nominated the Prioress s tale second as I felt it was the
most dated tale in Canterbury tales. The blatant anti Semitism espoused in it makes it a rather
interesting read, and it provides a good amount of instructional value on how to properly treat people

rather heavy themes for its time. The lesson taught in the Knight s tale about the fickleness of fate

Effective Conflict Prevention and Management Essay
We are responsible for our actions in every situation. Choosing appropriate conflict style is the key to
effective conflict prevention and management. We use our favorite conflict style in conflict situations
but we can choose a different style when it is needed. I have never thought of my conflict style before.
The quiz provided in this course gave me an opportunity to rediscover this aspect of myself. The style
of conflict management quiz tells me that I have the orange conflict style. It tells me that I have a
collaborative style of managing conflict. Cooperative problem solving style enables people to work
together so no one loses but everyone is the winner. People who use this style try to find a solution

The goals of collaborating style is to integrate solutions, learning, merging perspectives, gaining
commitment, and improving relationships. It works best in handling conflicts over important issues.
This mode has high assertiveness and high cooperation. It is a best style adopted to find a solution of a
conflict that would not have been generated by a single individual. This strategy works best when both
sides have trust in them and are working towards a common goal. For example, if team members are
establishing initial parameters for how to work effectively together, then collaborating mode could be
quite useful to complete a task. The Chinese proverb is even the teeth would sometime bite the tongue
. Even in marriage conflict does arise and call for resolution. I find that the conflict style with my
husband is more often collaborating but sometimes accommodating. The conflict style with my boss is
different from my default collaborating style. I think that this relation fits better in the accommodation
category which is quite similar to the collaboration conflict style. My conflict style is different in
working with boss because the accommodating style is a lose win situation as compared to the win
win collaborating style. A lose win situation is when you do things for the sake of a good relationship
with your boss, you would try to focus on his views first and put yourself next, ignoring the issues that

Story about Intangible Things Essay examples
Intangibility used to be a focus of mine. I lived for the things that were fleeting and impossible to
categorize. I was free of the constraints of anything and everything, from language to thought. I found
beauty in the things you could not touch and could not even grasp your mind around fully. Now I feel
so far removed, I need something to grab on to. I need something I can touch and know is real, solid,
and there something permanent. It is like being stuck in an Impressionist painting. Nothing is solid
because everything is momentary and instantaneous. That was the sort of thing I once reveled in.
However, things are too muddled now for enjoying intangibility. I simply want comfort and firmness.

I just lost a huge chunk of my life that I was never going to get back, but the world spun on, leaving
me behind. Trying to fall asleep that night was near impossible. I tossed and turned for over three
hours, and my sheets were in a labyrinth at my feet. I grabbed my pillow and pressed it over my head
as hard as I could. All I wanted to do was block the thoughts and leave my mind in some sort of
nirvana. No such luck. My thoughts kept spinning around and crashing into each other, knocking
things around inside my head. I yearned for the vacancy of sleep but knew it was unattainable. I kept
replaying in my head what a fantastic job I was doing at evading reality until now. I had mastered the
art of denial. It was exhausting, but it had worked so well. I had every natural skill it took to escape,
elude, and side step past a problem I did not want to face. There was nothing I hated more than being
forced to see the sharpness and look life straight in the eye. I was aware of the flaws in this approach
to life and dealing with certain situations, but for some reason the realization that my master plan had
its failings only made me emerge myself in it more entirely. Now there was no faking it anymore. It
was real and it was happening. I could not tip toe past the truth this time. The following months were
probably the hardest of my life. Despite the hot weather, I had never felt so cold. I remember driving
down the freeway one day, scrutinizing the white dashed lines,

Emotional Therapy
When a child is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the parents face numerous questions
about what that means for their child s life. With a growing prevalence rate of ASD, many parents face
the similar struggle in determining what type of treatment will provide the best outcomes for their
child. Two popular treatment choices are applied behavioral analysis (ABA) and skills training.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (2017), ASD is a group of developmental
disorders that impacts 1 in 68 children and includes a spectrum of symptoms, skills, and levels of
disability. Individuals with ASD may face challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, language
and communication, and learn differently than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They hypothesized that the behavioral treatment group would have better outcomes after one year
when compared to those in an equally intensive, eclectic special education treatment group. The study
consisted of 25 children age four to seven who had a diagnosis of childhood autism from both the
Autism Diagnostic Interview and an independent child clinical psychologist within six months of the
start of the study. All participants had an IQ at or above 50 on the Wechsler Preschool and Primary
Scale of Intelligence Revised (WPPSI R) and the Bayley Scales of Infant Development Revised
(BSID R). A person in the field of ASD research, who was independent of the study, then assigned the
children to either the behavioral treatment or eclectic treatment. Both groups received treatment in
public elementary schools and were assigned to a special education teacher and at least one aide. The
groups averaged 28.52 hours per week of treatment at school. The children assigned to the behavioral
treatment had an emphasis on the implementation of experimentally validated teaching approaches
based on operant conditioning principles such as shaping, chaining, discrimination training, and
contingency management, (Eikeseth et al., 2002). In the eclectic treatment, children received
individualized intervention that utilized

Analysis Of To Live By Zhang Yimou
Zhang Yimou presents a breathtaking snapshot of life in China from the 1940s to the 70s through the
lens of a single family in To Live . China faced many tumultuous twists and turns during this time
period as the country transitioned out of the bygone feudal society. Each decade brought in a new era:
the civil war of the 40s, the communist regime and the Great Leap forward in the 50s, and the cultural
revolution of the 60s. Zhang captures the essence of these distinct periods within the progression of
Fugui s family, a bittersweet story of perseverance against all odds. The plot of the story is rather
simple, following a linear structure. The graceful juxtaposition of various historical elements
alongside the underlying primary plot makes this a true masterpiece that manages to condense the
lives of individuals into a short chunk of time.
One of central themes that ties the entire story together is the role of luck and chance in determining
our fates. Zhang explicitly acknowledges elements of luck several times throughout the film. When
Fugui gambles away his family s estate to Long er, the instrument of his demise is a bunch of dice,
which are symbols for luck. Little does Fugui realize at the time, the rolls of the dice dictate not only
his wealth, but they also dictate whether he lives or not. In the scene where Long er gets shot to death,
Fugui runs off and wets his pants at the realization that he would have been the one getting shot if he
had been wealthy. Luck

Diet Anyalsis Essay
Nutrition is the science that studies food and how food nourishes our body and influences our health.
In life, many people do a lot of daily events and activities that help them enjoy being who they are.
People may enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the mall, going to an amusement park or simply
finding relaxation in nature. However one vital part of everyones life is of eating and finding the right
way to do so. Eating is a very enjoyable and delectable for everyone but should be done so, like

Of Julius Caesar And Kamehameha As A Effective Leader
Effective Leader Essay Kamehameha the Great was a remarkable leader who fought for his people
and for his cause: to unite the Hawaiian Islands. The process was long, but the outcome was worth it.
The two remaining rulers of the Kingdoms of Hawai i came to a consensus and Hawai i had peace for
the first time in three decades. During his rule, Kamehameha with help from foreign advisors made
Hawai i wealthier and safer. On a different note, Julius Caesar s skill in politics and warfare helped
him earn the title of consul. Caesar used his resources and power to expand Rome s empire, his
fortune to distribute land to the unfortunate, and his authority to legislate laws for his people
(PBS.com). In the end, despite being from different centuries and countries, Kamehameha the Great
and Julius Caesar were both effective leaders because they reliable, benevolent, and did what could
benefit their people.
Both Julius Caesar and Kamehameha aided their countries to become wealthier and helped in times of
need. As king, Kamehameha took part in a trade between foreigners. While trading, Hawaii earned
most of its earnings from trading (mainly because of the thirst for sandalwood). However, the
sandalwood population began to plummet and, as a result, Kamehameha placed a kapu on sandalwood
younglings (26). In Rome, many were unemployed or poor, so Caesar went to fix this problem. Some
of the unemployed were offered jobs overseas while those who stayed behind relied on a monthly
grain supply.

Movies about romance are very common, but a movie about romance with a musical format seems to

romantic musicals continue to captivate their audience. To create an impactful romantic musical movie
you need a detailed plot, catchy soundtrack, and a talented cast. Without these elements, it leaves the
movie distasteful and boring. Mamma Mia the movie directed by Phyllida Lloyd stands out among
other romantic musicals.

CIA s twenty million dollars. In his article The Power Trip, Jonah Lehrer brings up a point concerning
people with high power who go down the wrong track. He says that While a little compassion might
help us climb the social ladder, once we re at the top we end up morphing into a very different kind of
beast (Lehrer 646). The movie doesn t provide any information regarding how Ward landed his
position, but due to his fraudulent actions the audience knows that Ward is a beast. Lehrer then quotes
Dacher Keltner, a psychologist at the University of California... It s an incredibly consistent
effect...when you give people power, they basically start acting like fools (646). Ward definitely acts
like a fool. He is constantly having to watch his back throughout the movie and knows that the only
thing that will save him is if Bourne dies before Landy discovers any further information. When
Landy becomes tired of Ward inferring that she needs to kill Bourne she lashes out at him, What now?

The Designal Analysis Of A Rainy Day Toys Brand Image
Rainy Day Toys brand identity is determined through research and inspiration. The visual components
that made up the design project are the logo design, presentation, and a questionnaire. A logo s
purpose is to differentiate from other competitors. Also, the logo should show a unique quality or style
that can accurately portray the business perspective (Airey, 2014).During the beginning stages of
designing the logo, it was designed for children ages 1 4. The design challenge was figuring out how
to connect the vision of the brand to reach the intended audience without being too literal. In
connection to a children based theme, the imagery of an umbrella had a symbolic interpretation of a
rainy day. On the downside, symbolic marks can make less of a connection with the audience because
the imagery isn t immediately recognizable and difficult to find a unique solution that works (Hardy,
2011). Throughout the design process, brainstorming became the important key to find that spark of
creativity to design a logo that becomes emotionally connected to the target audience. In connection,
creating a good logo should identify key information such as communicating the purpose of the brand,
recognize what the brand provides, and help define target demographic (Workerbee, 2017). In that
case, the objective should decide whether the visual style of the logo could support the message and
also relate to the audience (Hardy, 2011). Hardy states (2011) the client should be able to

Toni Morrison Influences
During the 20th century, there were many changes regarding African Americans. Public racial
discrimination became illegal in the mid 1900s, thanks to many civil rights activists. There were also
many authors and poets that wrote about African American culture or discrimination, such as Maya
Angelou and Alice Walker. One very important author before this time, through it, and long after is
Toni Morrison. Toni Morrison s childhood influenced her strong confidence in her race. Morrison was
born on February 18, 1931. Her birth name was Chloe Wofford ( Toni Morrison. EXPLORING).
Growing up, Morrison learned a lot about the African American culture. Almost all of Toni Morrison s
family members were storytellers, and they taught Morrison a lot about African American history (
Toni Morrison. UXL). The things she learned as a child set the foundation for her continuing love of
her culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bluest Eye, published in 1970, received good reviews (Benson, Brannen, and Valentine). The
book focuses on a young black girl who wishes she had blonde hair and blue eyes, which she
perceives as beautiful ( Toni Morrison. Encyclopedia). She associates her dark skin, dark eyes, and
dark hair with ugliness. She believes her dark skin to be the reason she is bullied at school and abused
at home ( Toni Morrison. DIScovering). In this story, Toni Morrison brought to life the thoughts that
many young African American girls truly have.
Morrison has published many successful books. One of her stories that became a huge success was
Beloved. Beloved tells the true story of a runaway slave that killed her infant to save her from a life of
slavery (Benson, Brannon, and Valentine). Beloved has been described as a brutally powerful,
mesmerizing story about the inescapable, excruciating legacy of slavery ( Toni Morrison. UXL).
Beloved was easily one of Morrison s best books.
Beloved received many mixed reviews. A large group of African American writers

My Most Significant Personality Related Expierence
Perphaps my most significant personality related expierence was four years ago with my roommate

the second week that our relationship began to rapidly deteriorate. We began to fight about the
smallest of things and it was difficult to be in the room for anything other than to sleep.Whenever we

Animal Cruelty And Its Effects On Our Lives
Around 2.7 million of our companion animals are euthanized each year. It happens because many
people are giving up their pets and not a lot of people are adopting pets. Due to the economic crisis
few years ago, more owners threw away their pets to the streets, increasing the number of stray
animals. Shelters have no more space for incoming animals, so they forced to euthanize some animals.
The animals who are not euthanized are taken care by the shelters, but comes the next step, adoption.
Since many pets have terrible past lives, they usually show bad behaviours, causing adopters to return
pets. However this problem can be changed with good programs and people. These shelters take
responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless dogs and cats.
They will also aim to bring together individuals who are passionate about creating a better future for
our companion animals. This bill will save our companion animals whose lives are in peril by giving
them rescue foster and adoption. There are many types and stages of animal cruelty in our society.
Animal cruelty is when someone does not care about the responsibility to look after an animal. Animal
cruelty can be two things, active and passive abuses. Passive abuse includes the most simple things
like not giving water to the animal, while active abuse is harmful actions, like hurting animals and
worse, killing them. Many animals suffer from the abuse of human irresponsibility. Animals are often

In the novel, Passing Time, Ehrhart experiences change. For instance, Ehrhart begins to realize that the
war was a huge mistake on the government s behalf. Ehrhart believed that the government shouldn t
have taken part in the Vietnamese war due to the innocent deaths that developed over the years. Many
of the soldiers, including Ehrhart, were traumatized by the killings during the war. Ehrhart often
questions the events that take place during the war. For example, when Ehrhart witnessed innocent

The police treated the protest as if it was a riot. The police didn t give a reasonable warning, but
insisted on beating civilians to death because the police didn t agree with the anti war members
protest. For instance, Ehrhart describes that one woman was being beaten to death by a police officer
and Ehrhart tackled the police officer to the ground (Ehrhart 166). A man had to help Ehrhart drag the
woman to safety after the woman was saved from being beaten to death. Another event that showed
the effects of the anti war movement well after Ehrhart returned from the war was when Ehrhart was
at another anti war protest. Ehrhart was explaining to the public why he decided to go against the war.
Ehrhart explained that he couldn t support something so pointless (Ehrhart 177). Ehrhart believed the
government had made the people believe that they were trying to stop the vast spread of communism.
Ehrhart believed that the government was lying and that President Nixon wanted to start and win
another war (Ehrhart 169). Ehrhart often expressed his anti war movement views to his crew mate,
Roger. When talking to Roger, Ehrhart explains his theory on why he feels lied to by the government.
Ehrhart explained to Roger that Vietnam is nothing but a way for the United States to express their
dominance and control. For example Ehrhart says, what we want is freedom to do business on our
own terms and as much of the damned pie we can grab (Ehrhart 181).

The strategic planning throughout all aspects of it experience has contributed to their reputation as a world class luxury hotel. Ritz Carlton s ability to remain so successful has not been by accident or luck but by implementing a business plan that has reevaluated its service design processes in order to deliver more experientially based employee and customer engagement. The ability to standardize the each locations management plan to account for regional differences is the reason for the Ritz Carlton s success. The success of adapting to each location s unique attribute has produced a better experience for the Ritz Carlton s guest. Their business plan has been designed to identify their target customer and what they value as luxury. The management team has identified the critical process that every location has to implement. This standardization provides the structure for the property manager to focus on the experiences of the customer. By using these different elements to gather feedback for problems and solutions, they are developing the key process to anticipate a customer s needs. The collection, analysis and distribution of information, including output and quality reports on a company s process (Brown, Curry, Jeffery amp; Edmund, 2003 Pg 100) is exactly what the Ritz Carlton management team has implemented. • 4. The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument... The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God The cosmological argument seeks to prove the existence of God by looking at the universe. It is an A posteriori proof based on experience and the observation of the world not logic so the outcome is probable or possible not definite. The argument is in three forms; motion, causation and being. These are also the first three ways in the five ways presented by Aquinas through which he believed the existence of God could be shown. Aquinas regarded Aristotle as the principal philosopher so many of these concepts originate in the thinking of Aristotle. One example of the cosmological argument is the argument of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is more believable that the universe had a beginning and a personal creator. The third of Aquinas ways is the argument of contingency. The world consists of contingent items items that have a property are items referred to as being. These items are generated and perish; they have a beginning and an end. There must have once been a time when nothing existed. But then how did these items come into being? There must be something or someone able to bring other items into being without itself being brought into being. This necessary being is God. These arguments are strong ones for the existence of God, built upon clear and apparently true observations of the world around us. However, there are many criticisms. Hume argued that both Thomas Aquinas and William Lane Craig contradict themselves by firstly denying the possibility of the infinite, but then claiming that there must have been an infinite being. How can this be so? Supporters of the argument could use the idea that God is unique and outside the laws of nature. But even so, this point weakens the argument as there is no proof of the attributes of God. Many may ask these questions: Why does the universe have to be caused? Why cannot it always have been there? The human mind seems incapable of comprehending the idea of infinity, yet we accept the idea of an immortal being. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within each poem, I incorporated each sociologists name and included one of the main concepts that we discussed in class about them. For my Marx poem, I incorporated how he saw Capitalism as a problematic economic system and included some of the problems that are prevalent in societies that it has been implemented in. In my Weber poem, I involved a couple of strengths and different aspects that bureaucracies are known for that we had discussed in class. • 6. Weaknesses Of Democracy In Spain Analyze the reasons for the weaknesses and collapse of democracy between 1918 and 1939 in Spain Democracy was a relatively unknown political system for the Spanish. Instead, Spain was typically ruled by a monarchy or dictatorship, having only experienced democracy for a year in the 1870s. It was only in 1931, when Spain attempted to reintroduce democracy. Although, the Second Spanish Republic did not last very long, due to it s poor environment. The lack of experience of working within a democratic system, the polarization of the Spanish populace, a high degree of fragmentation within the pole, and the substantial level of inequality in Spain during this time period were all key weaknesses that led to the collapse of democracy in Spain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of the recession, there was a large gap between the rich and the poor within Spain. Due to this situation, the sustainability of democracy in Spain became questionable as the poor didn t trust the wealthy and wanted to change things, creating a divide within Spain. The large structural barrier between the two classes didn t allow the poor classes to move out of their wretched situation. Social and economic structural problems were undoubtedly severe, the worst being the plight of the newly two million landless farmworkers and their families, a plight made much more conflictive by the fact that Spain was now a rapidly country with democratic mass mobilization. The low wages, limited productivity and poor living conditions of four million more urban workers in the industry. This drove them to want change in the form of democracy allowing them to have a say in their future. Although, the obduracy of the conservative and the privileged, and the unwillingness of the main party of the right, the CEDA, to accept the Republic and the readjustment of the wealth necessary to make democracy work (Blinkhorn 37). It was extremely frustrating because there wasn t a bus in my neighborhood that went straight to my school. I had no other choice than to take two buses to get to school. The problem wasn t that it wasn t convenient, but rather it took up a lot of time. The first bus came exactly at 6:00 AM. It would go up a long stretch until it stopped on Lander Street, where I would catch the next bus. Depending on traffic, the next bus would either take 30 minutes or 1 hour. According to a Civil Engineering article, an engineering group was awarded a $169 million contract to design and build a 1.6 mi extension of the Link, the Seattle metropolitan area s light rail line (Landers 20). This shows the effort on Seattle s part to accommodate the influx of people moving to Seattle. Development of such projects: The Alaskan Way Viaduct, Elliott Bay Seawall Project, and King Street Station Restoration (Major Projects), are reminiscent of a booming Seattle. These projects were petitioned for by voters, who recognizing issues with transportation in the area, urged their Seattle council representatives to fix the issues. As mentioned before, Seattle had started to develop its link light rail line. Munnoch said that Sound Transit will finance up to 70% of the project, but is seeking 30% to 50% of the total cost from the Federal Transit Administration (qtd. in Seattle to Build $2 Billion Light Rail System). This caused a delay in expanding the link light rail system. However, now the project is in full effect and is expected to have stations in the Capitol Hill and UW (Location Stations). • 8. Why Foreign Language Should Be a Core Subject in Public... Silvana Domaz Professor Hussein ENG108: Writing Project #4 22 April 2012 Why Foreign Language Should be a Core Subject in Public Elementary School The benefits of learning a foreign language go beyond learning a different culture or being able to communicate with people of different backgrounds. It is essential that Americans speak languages other than English in order to compete internationally, keep the country safe, and prepare children to be world citizens. Several language organizations, educators, and policy makers have recommended the introduction of a second language at the elementary school level as a way of assuring a high level of language proficiency (Pufahl and Rhodes 273). However, the reality of foreign language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Arizona, foreign language courses are not a requirement. According to Jill Campos, World Language Academic Coach for the Scottsdale School District, foreign language is introduced for a semester at 6th and 7th grades as an exploratory course. Eight graders can take the first year of a world language for high school credit and continue, if they so choose, through the 5th year . Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) report that the language areas of the brain seem to go through the most dynamic period of growth between the ages of 6 and 13 (qtd. in Talukder 3). The UCLA study instead suggests that the elementary and middle school years are the biologically most advantageous times for acquisition of a second language (qtd. in Talukder 3). It is during the first years of life that the foundations for thinking, language, vision, attitudes, aptitudes, and other characteristics are laid down, says Ronald Kotulak, author of Inside the Brain (qtd. in Dryden and Voss 266). Studies of the brain show that a second language is stored in the same part of the brain as a first language when learned by age 8. After that age, a second language is stored in a different part of the brain. However, simply introducing a program at the elementary level is not enough. The second recommendation is that a successful language program ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another solution was the campaigning proposal, where protectors of human rights helped increase public awareness of exactly what is going on and to what extent women are exploited. the article was completely pro the abolishment of trafficking and prostitution practices and there were no arguments or debates in defense of the practices taking place in society. There are a number of measures that should be undertaken by society for the improvement of the existing situation before it gets any worse, making it harder to fix later on, which would lead to a degraded corrupted society in the possible near future. as the article mentioned, churches should be a big part in the process of helping the exploited woman with the trauma their jobs brought to them. Also, the public should be made clearly aware of the situation, and all the details included in the issue of prostitution and how traffickers force it upon their employees. Also, more patrollers should be made available to try and control the situation by arresting traffickers, which may also scare off other traffickers involved in similar situations. • 12. Jim Crow Laws And Apartheid As a result of colonialism, the resistance in both the United States and South Africa was rising. Throughout the history of the African civil rights movement are lessons that taught: Nationalism has been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule and modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and contrasting the Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able to shape our understanding of conflicts, activism, and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). Blinded by racial prejudice, Congress passed Jim Crow Laws establishing a hierarchy based on the plantation mentality and in 1948, the National Party (the Nats) made apartheid the official law (Bausum 2012, 14). In fact, both forms of segregation enforced poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians had better quality] schools, hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For example, African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Similarly, black South African workers received inadequate pay and the law outlawed strikes and the formation of unions. In both cases, full time employees remained ... As covered above, the Clerks Tale follows the abuse and test which Saluzzo enacts upon his wife Griselda. While Saluzzo is clearly of nobility and exercises the power conferred by that often and regularly, the steely resolve and good nature of Griselda demonstrates that while she is a commoner, she has much more Gentiless than her husband Saluzzo. The Franklin s Tale is a great exploration of trouthe conquering infidelity. When the husband of Dorigen is off seeking honor and fame, she is courted by Aurelius. It also has instructional value, to an extent, as it features the cheating Miller getting his comeuppance. I nominated the Friar s Tale fourth due to it s more dramatic nature. Many of the tales focus on mortals, while the Friar s tale features a demon as a main character. Similar to the Reeve s tale as well, the story features a villain, the summoner, being punished for his wrongdoing. I nominated the Pardoner s Tale third because it is interesting that the target of the moral preached by the tale, seems to be the same character telling it. The Pardoner tells of three young men who happen upon a large store of gold, and kill each other out of greed. This being while the Pardoner is one of the greediest characters in the Canterbury Tales. I nominated the Prioress s tale second as I felt it was the most dated tale in Canterbury tales. The blatant anti Semitism espoused in it makes it a rather interesting read, and it provides a good amount of instructional value on how to properly treat people in retrospect. When they finally stopped, the man built no fire. He then froze to death. The dog moved on to the camp they were traveling to in the first place that the man obviously did not get to. This proves the dog did not care for the man and wanted only food and warmth. This shows that the theme in To Build a Fire is to always value a dog s instinct. • 24. Analysis Of To Live By Zhang Yimou Zhang Yimou presents a breathtaking snapshot of life in China from the 1940s to the 70s through the lens of a single family in To Live . China faced many tumultuous twists and turns during this time period as the country transitioned out of the bygone feudal society. Each decade brought in a new era: the civil war of the 40s, the communist regime and the Great Leap forward in the 50s, and the cultural revolution of the 60s. Zhang captures the essence of these distinct periods within the progression of Fugui s family, a bittersweet story of perseverance against all odds. The plot of the story is rather simple, following a linear structure. The graceful juxtaposition of various historical elements alongside the underlying primary plot makes this a true masterpiece that manages to condense the lives of individuals into a short chunk of time. One of central themes that ties the entire story together is the role of luck and chance in determining our fates. Zhang explicitly acknowledges elements of luck several times throughout the film. When Fugui gambles away his family s estate to Long er, the instrument of his demise is a bunch of dice, which are symbols for luck. Little does Fugui realize at the time, the rolls of the dice dictate not only his wealth, but they also dictate whether he lives or not. In the scene where Long er gets shot to death, Fugui runs off and wets his pants at the realization that he would have been the one getting shot if he had been wealthy. Luck ... The visual components that made up the design project are the logo design, presentation, and a questionnaire. A logo s purpose is to differentiate from other competitors. Also, the logo should show a unique quality or style that can accurately portray the business perspective (Airey, 2014).During the beginning stages of designing the logo, it was designed for children ages 1 4. The design challenge was figuring out how to connect the vision of the brand to reach the intended audience without being too literal. In connection to a children based theme, the imagery of an umbrella had a symbolic interpretation of a rainy day. On the downside, symbolic marks can make less of a connection with the audience because the imagery isn t immediately recognizable and difficult to find a unique solution that works (Hardy, 2011). Throughout the design process, brainstorming became the important key to find that spark of creativity to design a logo that becomes emotionally connected to the target audience. In connection, creating a good logo should identify key information such as communicating the purpose of the brand, recognize what the brand provides, and help define target demographic (Workerbee, 2017).
