Deadline
• My deadline was set for the beginning of
January 2017 more specifically the 2nd, this is
because it is the start of the new year and I
believe this would be a good time to release a
magazine as people would be going out to the
shops to buy newspapers/magazines and see
what the new year has install for them.
Post production skills
• For post production skills I used the software Photoshop
C55.1 to create my front cover and InDesign to create my
double page spread. It contains the tools needed to make the
magazine look professional for both the outside and inside of
it. I used these programs to edit the photos and make it more
professional looking such as smoothing out the edges and for
the double page spread InDesign helped with creating an
article in a professional format and include little details that
make all the difference in the finished product.
Safe working practices
• Permission- I will need to get the permission of both the
artist as well as the model of the photo to be able to use
the image in my magazine that they have taken so that if
I do use it, I will not be prosecuted for copy right use and
plagiarism. In order to be able to use the images I had to
sign a document saying that the images will only be used
for the magazine and nothing else otherwise I can be
prosecuted for inappropriate use.
• Area assessment- when scouting the location for the
background of the images I will need to take in an
account whether or not it is a safe place to take photos
at. This is because if the model is injured during the
photo-shoot I can be sued for compensation to the
model and potentially loose a lot of money in the
process. That is why it is very important to find a place
where it is safe to take place and not have a chance of
there being a risk of injury. The pace where the photos
were taken was a safe place with no dangerous objects
being around allowing a successfully photo-shoot to take
place
Safe working practices
Resizing an image- when resizing an image hold
down shift and it will allow the image to not
pixelate which can cause the image to look
unprofessional. If you do not do this it can
affect the quality of the image and will have to
repeat the process of resizing your own image.
Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a
consistent colour throughout the magazine and
will allow you to not get a different shade of the
same colour which when printed out can affect
the whole magazine entirely.
Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you
will be able to find the colour you are using
most often very quickly which will help reduce
the chance of getting a different shade of the
colour.
Proof reading and sub editing
• On my double page spread, I made sure I have
proof read all of my work and made sure there
were no spelling errors or wrong grammar. As
well as proof reading , I sub-edited my text
and removed the hyphens from the my text so
that it will look more professional.
Colour
Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a consistent colour
throughout the magazine and will allow you to not get a
different shade of the same colour which when printed out can
affect the whole magazine entirely.
Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you will be able to
find the colour you are using most often very quickly which will
help reduce the chance of getting a different shade of the colour.
Font style
I have chosen these two font styles as the final choice
of what the font will be on the final product as they
are both unique in their own way and the font them
selves incorporate the name of the title in it.
Photoshop corrections
Here I have changed the amount of
words being used for the strapline on
top of my magazine. This is to make it
look less compact and more easy to
see what's being featured in the
magazine
Here I have changed the font of
the additional information that
will be featured in the magazine.
This is because the font did not
really match the genre I was
going for therefore I needed to
change it to meet this demand.
Photoshop corrections continued
With this correction I had to
change the size of the twitter logo
as it was not in line with the other
logos for social media.
Here I have gotten rid
of the marker lines and
have given an overview
of the DPS as what it
would look like when it
is published then when
it is in development.
Witness statement
Conclusion
• This section of unit 14 is all about the creation of the
front cover and double page spread. It goes through all
the software that would be used in creating it and how
all the small details can make the magazine go from
amateur looking to professional looking. It also goes
through the details that needed to be changed in order
to make it more appealing to the target audience and
to not make it look like it has been overloaded with
information. The witness statement that is attached to
it also helps to show what was really good about the
pitch and also shows what could have been improved.

  • 3. Deadline • My deadline was set for the beginning of January 2017 more specifically the 2nd, this is because it is the start of the new year and I believe this would be a good time to release a magazine as people would be going out to the shops to buy newspapers/magazines and see what the new year has install for them.
  • 4. Post production skills • For post production skills I used the software Photoshop C55.1 to create my front cover and InDesign to create my double page spread. It contains the tools needed to make the magazine look professional for both the outside and inside of it. I used these programs to edit the photos and make it more professional looking such as smoothing out the edges and for the double page spread InDesign helped with creating an article in a professional format and include little details that make all the difference in the finished product.
  • 5. Safe working practices • Permission- I will need to get the permission of both the artist as well as the model of the photo to be able to use the image in my magazine that they have taken so that if I do use it, I will not be prosecuted for copy right use and plagiarism. In order to be able to use the images I had to sign a document saying that the images will only be used for the magazine and nothing else otherwise I can be prosecuted for inappropriate use. • Area assessment- when scouting the location for the background of the images I will need to take in an account whether or not it is a safe place to take photos at. This is because if the model is injured during the photo-shoot I can be sued for compensation to the model and potentially loose a lot of money in the process. That is why it is very important to find a place where it is safe to take place and not have a chance of there being a risk of injury. The pace where the photos were taken was a safe place with no dangerous objects being around allowing a successfully photo-shoot to take place
  • 6. Safe working practices Resizing an image- when resizing an image hold down shift and it will allow the image to not pixelate which can cause the image to look unprofessional. If you do not do this it can affect the quality of the image and will have to repeat the process of resizing your own image. Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a consistent colour throughout the magazine and will allow you to not get a different shade of the same colour which when printed out can affect the whole magazine entirely. Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you will be able to find the colour you are using most often very quickly which will help reduce the chance of getting a different shade of the colour.
  • 7. Proof reading and sub editing • On my double page spread, I made sure I have proof read all of my work and made sure there were no spelling errors or wrong grammar. As well as proof reading , I sub-edited my text and removed the hyphens from the my text so that it will look more professional.
  • 8. Colour Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a consistent colour throughout the magazine and will allow you to not get a different shade of the same colour which when printed out can affect the whole magazine entirely. Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you will be able to find the colour you are using most often very quickly which will help reduce the chance of getting a different shade of the colour.
  • 9. Font style I have chosen these two font styles as the final choice of what the font will be on the final product as they are both unique in their own way and the font them selves incorporate the name of the title in it.
  • 10. Photoshop corrections Here I have changed the amount of words being used for the strapline on top of my magazine. This is to make it look less compact and more easy to see what's being featured in the magazine Here I have changed the font of the additional information that will be featured in the magazine. This is because the font did not really match the genre I was going for therefore I needed to change it to meet this demand.
  • 11. Photoshop corrections continued With this correction I had to change the size of the twitter logo as it was not in line with the other logos for social media. Here I have gotten rid of the marker lines and have given an overview of the DPS as what it would look like when it is published then when it is in development.
  • 13. Conclusion • This section of unit 14 is all about the creation of the front cover and double page spread. It goes through all the software that would be used in creating it and how all the small details can make the magazine go from amateur looking to professional looking. It also goes through the details that needed to be changed in order to make it more appealing to the target audience and to not make it look like it has been overloaded with information. The witness statement that is attached to it also helps to show what was really good about the pitch and also shows what could have been improved.
