Unit Plan: Habitats
Day 4: Tundra Habitat
Analyze Learners:
The students in my third grade class are between the ages of eight and nine years old. The class consists
of 25 students, 14 boys and 11 girls who are all at grade level. 2 of the students have diagnosed ADD.
State Objectives:
The students in my third grade class that are between the ages of eight and nine years old, 2 of which
have diagnosed ADD, will be able to identify what the tundra habitat is and certain characteristics of the
habitat, like plants and animals, by watching a YouTube video, using Pinterest, and posting on our
classroom Wiki page. This will be done with 95% accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials:
My students will watch a YouTube video that I made about the tundra and they will tell me what they
think the habitat is like.
My students will then go to the classroom Pinterest page, it will also be up on the Smart Board, and
review the informational pins that are on the Tundra board. We will then discuss
After this, they will go to the class Wiki page and look at the links and video that I have posted about the
tundra.
Utilize resources:
Preview: I will make sure that all of the classroom laptops are completely charged a turning on properly.
I will make sure that I have all of my links to websites.
Prepare Materials- I will make sure I have everything that I need to complete my lessons for the day.
Desks will be facing forward so everyone can see the Smart Board and laptops will be available. The
classroom Wiki will already be available.
Prepare Environment- I will make sure that I have all of my notes with me when my lesson starts, and
that the laptops are ready.Each student will have a laptop available to them. The Smart Board will be on
with our Pinterest page up on it.
Prepare Students- I will ask my students to think about what they think the tundra is and write down
questions that they want to ask me during class.
Provide the Learning Experience: For this day of the unit we will be discussing the tundra habitat. First
we will watch a YouTube video that I made with facts about the tundra habitat. We will discuss what the
students thought about the video. Then, we will go to the classroom Pinterest and go through some of
the interactive pins that I posted under the Tundra pin board. After this, I will have my students go to
the classroom Wiki page and look at the side tab labeled Tundra. There I have put many video, pictures,
and links about aspects of the tundra. I would like them to comment on the page. I will let the students
work on their group projects after they have completed everything.
Require learner participation:
To make sure all of my students participate, I will set up a reward for them to want to participate. I will
give them a piece of candy of their choice at the end of the day. If they participate in discussion actively
and work hard on their group projects after completely the other assignments, then during recess the
next day we will do something special. I feel like the students will want to participate, because it is
interactive. If they do not include themselves in discussion, they will get participation points marked off
for the day.
Evaluate and Revise:
Student will be evaluated through their participation. If they students are participating, then they will
understand during class discussion and will add their own input. Student will get graded on when they
interact with me while going through the Wiki and the Pinterest sites and while they are working on
their group projects.

After this, I will have my students go to the classroom Wiki page and look at the side tab labeled Tundra. There I have put many video, pictures, and links about aspects of the tundra. I would like them to comment on the page. I will let the students work on their group projects after they have completed everything. Require learner participation: To make sure all of my students participate, I will set up a reward for them to want to participate. I will give them a piece of candy of their choice at the end of the day. If they participate in discussion actively and work hard on their group projects after completely the other assignments, then during recess the next day we will do something special. I feel like the students will want to participate, because it is interactive. If they do not include themselves in discussion, they will get participation points marked off for the day. Evaluate and Revise: Student will be evaluated through their participation. If they students are participating, then they will understand during class discussion and will add their own input. Student will get graded on when they interact with me while going through the Wiki and the Pinterest sites and while they are working on their group projects.
