Wednesday and Thursday
Analyze Learners:
The students I will be teaching are in the 10th grade. They are all part of the mainstream
class system. There are 12 boys and 11 girls in my class room. The class varies in ethnic
background; the majority of the students are Caucasian and the minority is African American.
Many students may have some prior some prior knowledge of the Revolutionary War, so
upon their arrival I will ask them small questions to see how much knowledge they have.
State Objectives:
My 10th grade students will be discussing the major battles of the war. They will gain
knowledge on two major wars by watching a video and listening to a podcast. They will learn
about other wars by completing a webquest. They will be complete the webquest with an 80%
accuracy.
Select the Methods, Media, and Materials:
At the beginning of the class there will be a Voki projected onto the board. The Voki
contains the bell ringer questions. Students will listen to the question then write the answer in
their journals. After everyone is complete we will have a class discussion on the bell ringer
question.
The first thing I will show my students in a YouTube video that outlines the Lexington
and Concord Battle. Then they will listen to a Podcast on the Battle of Yorktown. While listening
and watching they will be taking notes. At the end of class I will assign my students a WebQuest
that will be due at the end of the next class session.
There will be a QR code posted by the door every that links my students to our class
facebook and twitter page. The facebook and twitter page are available for the students to get
homework assignments and to ask any question they may have.
Utilize Media and Materials:
I will be sure to have the Podcast and Youtube video on the projector waiting for the final
student to enter the classroom. I will have the students get out a piece of paper and pencil for
notes. I will explain a summary of the two media types and then play them for the class.
I will print out papers of the WebQuest for every student. Before the class is dismissed I
will explain the assignment to them as I pass out the papers. I will let them now there will be
computers available for them during class tomorrow but the assignment will be due at the end of
the period, no exceptions.
Require Learner Participation:
The students will all be required to take notes and complete a WebQuest. They will be
required to do so in a timely manner.
Evaluate and Revise:
The students will be evaluated on their class participation. This includes the notes and the
WebQuest. These two things will help me keep track of their progress and the knowledge
obtained by the video and podcast.
