Friday
Analyze Learners:
The students I will be teaching are in the 10th grade. They are all part of the mainstream
class system. There are 12 boys and 11 girls in my class room. The class varies in ethnic
background; the majority of the students are Caucasian and the minority is African American.
Many students may have some prior some prior knowledge of the Revolutionary War, so
upon their arrival I will ask them small questions to see how much knowledge they have.
State Objectives:
My 10th grade students will be observing the making of the Declaration of Independence.
They will do so by watching two videos I have provided for the class. The students will be able
to describe the importance of the document in a reflection at the end of class with a 80%
accuracy.
Select the Methods, Media, and Materials:
At the beginning of the class there will be a Voki projected onto the board. The Voki
contains the bell ringer questions. Students will listen to the question then write the answer in
their journals. After everyone is complete we will have a class discussion on the bell ringer
question.
I have selected two videos to help my students explore the making of the Declaration of
Independence. The first video is a documentary clip that explains the document. It gives a brief
summary of what it contains and who wrote it. The second video shows the background of the
document. It shows how it came to be by having actors play the parts of all men involved.
There will be a QR code posted by the door every that links my students to our class
facebook and twitter page. The facebook and twitter page are available for the students to get
homework assignments and to ask any question they may have.
Utilize Media and Materials:
I will be sure the projecter is up and running. I will have the Voki ready to be played
when all the students arrive.
Before the students arrive to my classroom, I will set up the projector and have the videos
ready to play. There will be a class discussion following each clip.
At the end of class, I will make sure the QR code is hanging up by the door. I will also be
sure to update the facebook and twitter with any assignments I have given my students. I will
also be sure to check both pages regularly in case any student has tried to contacted me.
Require Learner Participation:
The students will be required to participate in class discussions. They will also write and
turn in a reflection of what they learned throughout the week. The reflection will include what
they found most interesting and what they learned.
Evaluate and Revise:
The students will be evaluated by their class participation. They will evaluated by the
reflection they turn in. The reflection must be insightful and require critical thinking.
