ASSURE Method 
Unit Plan 
Morgan Stanley 
Day by Day Breakdown
Main Objective 
 For this unit plan a group of high school students in 
the 12th grade will identify and learn about the 
American Literature author Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and 
present their finding to the class. This task will be 
spread over a school week, and each day is 
dedicated to a specific short assignment and 
research.
Analyze Learners 
 The students I will be teaching are in the 12th 
grade, which would put them in an age group 
around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 
14 boys and 8 girls.
Day 1 
 A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age 
group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls. 
 S - State Objectives: My students will identify Kurt Vonnegut Jr., after following a WebQuest, using provided 
QR Codes, and Facebook. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree 
of accuracy. 
 S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will use a WebQuest that I created specifically towards Kurt Vonnegut 
Jr. The WebQuest features explicit directions for several future assignments and links for the students to 
research. These links are also featured within the WebQuest Word document. 
 Book Archive - Only use this if you cannot find a physical copy of your novel. 
 Google Books - Only use this if you cannot find a physical copy of your novel. 
 Good Reads List of Books by Vonnegut - Use this for your primary research. 
 Official Bio Page for Kurt Vonnegut Jr. - Use this for your primary research. 
 Wikipedia - You may use Wikipedia to find information summaries of your books. 
 
 I will introduce a Classroom Facebook Account that the students will interact with over the course and it 
includes info on assignments. I will provide a QR Code to students that will send them to my WebQuest. 
 U - Utilize Media and Materials: Using WebQuest, students will be lead through introductions of the author 
and their assignments for the week. The QR Codes can be used for ease of access and will be featured on 
the class Facebook for anyone who missed that day. The students will use the Facebook account to help 
fellow peers, ask questions, or just get information for the class. 
 R - Require Learner Participation: Students will begin in small groups or pairs and complete the Part 1 of the 
WebQuest. Students will have to research together then give an oral presentation in front of the class. 
 E - Evaluation and Revise: For the evaluation process, I would keep in mind anything that was unclear in the 
instructions. At the beginning of the lesson, I will ask about the students’ prior knowledge. The peer groups 
and oral presentation will be used as assessment for this day. That way I will know whether or not they 
researched and who participated in the group.
Day 2 
 A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in 
an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls. 
 S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and will identify 
his works, after following the WebQuest, using Blendspace, using Twitter, and watching YouTube 
videos. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree of 
accuracy. 
 S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will continue to use the WebQuest I developed from the 
previous lesson. I will also use Blendspace in order to assess students from the previous lesson. I 
will introduce them to Twitter and my expectations out of that technology. I will then implement 
YouTube into our discussions of materials. 
 U - Utilize Media and Materials: Through following the tasks of the WebQuest I will help facilitate 
discussion among the students to successfully accomplish the first part of the Part 2. This 
discussion will be review of the researched books that students previously presented so they are 
able to pick out a book for their assignment (WebQuest related). After which, the students will be 
assessed by a brief quiz that is featured on Blendspace, and has 7 questions that pertain to the 
previous lesson. Further, I will introduce the class to twitter and ask them to make accounts and 
follow authors they like for fun, as well as my teacher twitter account. I will then direct them towards 
YouTube so that we as a class can watch and discuss this video. I will then ask them to create their 
own graph from a story that they remember reading. 
 R - Require Learner Participation: The students will have to follow the directions of the WebQuest in 
order to proceed in this lesson. They will be directed and complete the Blendspace quiz I provide 
them. In order to keep track the students have made Twitter accounts, I will make them follow me at 
this account. The students will have to discuss the video as a class, then I will assign a short 
assignment that will be handed in towards the end. 
 E - Evaluation and Revise: For the evaluation process, I would keep in mind anything that was 
unclear in the instructions or what I had trouble explaining in discussion. The quiz is short 
assessment for the previous lesson, sharing my Blendspace lessons helps them catch up on 
anything they did not understand completely or missed out on. The discussion and short 
assignment will be another assessment so I can see if they understood the given content.
Day 3 
 A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which 
would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 
boys and 8 girls. 
 S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and 
will identify his works after following the WebQuest, using Blogger, using Wikispaces, 
and listening to podcasts. This lesson will last for a single class period and students 
will have a 95% degree of accuracy. 
 S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will continue to use the WebQuest I developed 
from the previous lesson. I will then provide my students a link to my Blogger, and ask 
them to create a Wikispaces account. I will ask my students to find a podcast of their 
choosing that is relevant to the lesson. 
 U - Utilize Media and Materials: The students will continue to follow the WebQuest that 
I provided and finish Part 2. Part 2 will ask students to write a character analysis from 
the book of their choice from the previous day. I will provide a Character Analysis 
Rubric and a link to a helpful site for tips on how to get started. Students will then 
create a Wikispaces account and create pages for their past, current, and future 
assignments for their end of the semester portfolio. I will then provide a link to my own 
blog that deals with scholarly English reviews and such. Students will have to post a 
comment and reflection on any post. Students will then be asked to find a podcast that 
is relevant to English. 
 R - Require Learner Participation: Students will have to properly follow the directions 
of the WebQuest as I facilitate said directions. Students will be asked to write a 
character analysis essay and present any essays on the Wikispaces account they 
created. They will also have to write reflections about the Blogger posts and podcasts 
they found during their research. 
 E - Evaluation and Revise: I will have to keep track of how the instructions are for each 
assignment and the rubric. The reflections for each assignment will be a form of 
assessment, as well as class discussions about the technologies I am asking the

 S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and 
will identify his works after following a Photoshop tutorial, using SmartBoard to present 
their research. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 
95% degree of accuracy. 
 S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will continue to use the WebQuest I developed 
from the previous lesson. Students will begin Part 3 of the WebQuest. Students will 
use Photoshop to complete Part 3. SmartBoard will then be used to present their book 
projects. A rubric for the book project will be provided. 
 U - Utilize Media and Materials: Students will continue to finish Part 3 of the 
WebQuest. They will be asked to complete a book project and a short essay to go 
along with the assignment. These assignments will be put on their wiki for their 
portfolio. Students will use Adobe Photoshop to complete the book project and will 
follow the rubric provided in order to complete the assignment in its entirety. They will 
then use the SmartBoard in order to present their book project to the class. 
 R - Require Learner Participation: Students will have to present their book project to 
the class and explain what they did. They will be asked to use the Smart Board in 
order to point out emphasis to their projects. Students will be asked to give feedback 
to their peers on their projects on paper. 
 E - Evaluation and Revise: I will have to keep in mind how clear my instructions and 
lectures are during this lesson. Assessment will be based on how well and clear their 
book projects are presented to the class. The feedback will also be part of their 
assessment.
Day 5 
 A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which 
would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 
boys and 8 girls. 
 S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and 
will identify his works after using Voki, and Arts and Bots. This lesson will last for a 
single class period and students will have a 95% degree of accuracy. 
 S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will use the Arts and Bots assignment. I will 
provide links to tutorials and examples of bots. Students will then create their own 
personal Voki and write a low-stakes assignment about Voki. 
 U - Utilize Media and Materials: Students will begin research and learn how to use 
Robotics from the links provided and my instruction. Students will pick a character 
from their chosen book from the beginning of the week and create a robot about that 
character. They will then create a Voki that will tell facts about Kurt Vonnegut or 
information about their chosen novel. 
 R - Require Learner Participation: Students will have to pay attention to the instruction 
in reference to the robotics, they will also be expected to help their peers through the 
process. They will be in small groups in order to complete this assignment. The Voki 
they create will be presented to the class. 
 E - Evaluation and Revise: Students will be assessed based on the information they 
gathered when creating their Voki. Student participation will also be important as 
assessment during the robotics projects. Students will be asked to write a low stakes 
assignment about what they think of the robotics project and voki. The low-stakes 
assignment will further help me revise the instructions and interest the students might 
have in the projects.

  • 1. ASSURE Method Unit Plan Morgan Stanley Day by Day Breakdown
  • 2. Main Objective  For this unit plan a group of high school students in the 12th grade will identify and learn about the American Literature author Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and present their finding to the class. This task will be spread over a school week, and each day is dedicated to a specific short assignment and research.
  • 3. Analyze Learners  The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls.
  • 4. Day 1  A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls.  S - State Objectives: My students will identify Kurt Vonnegut Jr., after following a WebQuest, using provided QR Codes, and Facebook. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree of accuracy.  S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will use a WebQuest that I created specifically towards Kurt Vonnegut Jr. The WebQuest features explicit directions for several future assignments and links for the students to research. These links are also featured within the WebQuest Word document.  Book Archive - Only use this if you cannot find a physical copy of your novel.  Google Books - Only use this if you cannot find a physical copy of your novel.  Good Reads List of Books by Vonnegut - Use this for your primary research.  Official Bio Page for Kurt Vonnegut Jr. - Use this for your primary research.  Wikipedia - You may use Wikipedia to find information summaries of your books.   I will introduce a Classroom Facebook Account that the students will interact with over the course and it includes info on assignments. I will provide a QR Code to students that will send them to my WebQuest.  U - Utilize Media and Materials: Using WebQuest, students will be lead through introductions of the author and their assignments for the week. The QR Codes can be used for ease of access and will be featured on the class Facebook for anyone who missed that day. The students will use the Facebook account to help fellow peers, ask questions, or just get information for the class.  R - Require Learner Participation: Students will begin in small groups or pairs and complete the Part 1 of the WebQuest. Students will have to research together then give an oral presentation in front of the class.  E - Evaluation and Revise: For the evaluation process, I would keep in mind anything that was unclear in the instructions. At the beginning of the lesson, I will ask about the students’ prior knowledge. The peer groups and oral presentation will be used as assessment for this day. That way I will know whether or not they researched and who participated in the group.
  • 5. Day 2  A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls.  S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and will identify his works, after following the WebQuest, using Blendspace, using Twitter, and watching YouTube videos. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree of accuracy.  S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will continue to use the WebQuest I developed from the previous lesson. I will also use Blendspace in order to assess students from the previous lesson. I will introduce them to Twitter and my expectations out of that technology. I will then implement YouTube into our discussions of materials.  U - Utilize Media and Materials: Through following the tasks of the WebQuest I will help facilitate discussion among the students to successfully accomplish the first part of the Part 2. This discussion will be review of the researched books that students previously presented so they are able to pick out a book for their assignment (WebQuest related). After which, the students will be assessed by a brief quiz that is featured on Blendspace, and has 7 questions that pertain to the previous lesson. Further, I will introduce the class to twitter and ask them to make accounts and follow authors they like for fun, as well as my teacher twitter account. I will then direct them towards YouTube so that we as a class can watch and discuss this video. I will then ask them to create their own graph from a story that they remember reading.  R - Require Learner Participation: The students will have to follow the directions of the WebQuest in order to proceed in this lesson. They will be directed and complete the Blendspace quiz I provide them. In order to keep track the students have made Twitter accounts, I will make them follow me at this account. The students will have to discuss the video as a class, then I will assign a short assignment that will be handed in towards the end.  E - Evaluation and Revise: For the evaluation process, I would keep in mind anything that was unclear in the instructions or what I had trouble explaining in discussion. The quiz is short assessment for the previous lesson, sharing my Blendspace lessons helps them catch up on anything they did not understand completely or missed out on. The discussion and short assignment will be another assessment so I can see if they understood the given content.
  • 6. Day 3  A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls.  S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and will identify his works after following the WebQuest, using Blogger, using Wikispaces, and listening to podcasts. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree of accuracy.  S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will continue to use the WebQuest I developed from the previous lesson. I will then provide my students a link to my Blogger, and ask them to create a Wikispaces account. I will ask my students to find a podcast of their choosing that is relevant to the lesson.  U - Utilize Media and Materials: The students will continue to follow the WebQuest that I provided and finish Part 2. Part 2 will ask students to write a character analysis from the book of their choice from the previous day. I will provide a Character Analysis Rubric and a link to a helpful site for tips on how to get started. Students will then create a Wikispaces account and create pages for their past, current, and future assignments for their end of the semester portfolio. I will then provide a link to my own blog that deals with scholarly English reviews and such. Students will have to post a comment and reflection on any post. Students will then be asked to find a podcast that is relevant to English.  R - Require Learner Participation: Students will have to properly follow the directions of the WebQuest as I facilitate said directions. Students will be asked to write a character analysis essay and present any essays on the Wikispaces account they created. They will also have to write reflections about the Blogger posts and podcasts they found during their research.  E - Evaluation and Revise: I will have to keep track of how the instructions are for each assignment and the rubric. The reflections for each assignment will be a form of assessment, as well as class discussions about the technologies I am asking the
  • 7. Day 4  A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls.  S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and will identify his works after following a Photoshop tutorial, using SmartBoard to present their research. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree of accuracy.  S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will continue to use the WebQuest I developed from the previous lesson. Students will begin Part 3 of the WebQuest. Students will use Photoshop to complete Part 3. SmartBoard will then be used to present their book projects. A rubric for the book project will be provided.  U - Utilize Media and Materials: Students will continue to finish Part 3 of the WebQuest. They will be asked to complete a book project and a short essay to go along with the assignment. These assignments will be put on their wiki for their portfolio. Students will use Adobe Photoshop to complete the book project and will follow the rubric provided in order to complete the assignment in its entirety. They will then use the SmartBoard in order to present their book project to the class.  R - Require Learner Participation: Students will have to present their book project to the class and explain what they did. They will be asked to use the Smart Board in order to point out emphasis to their projects. Students will be asked to give feedback to their peers on their projects on paper.  E - Evaluation and Revise: I will have to keep in mind how clear my instructions and lectures are during this lesson. Assessment will be based on how well and clear their book projects are presented to the class. The feedback will also be part of their assessment.
  • 8. Day 5  A - Analyze Learners: The students I will be teaching are in the 12th grade, which would put them in an age group around 17-18 years old. There are 22 students: 14 boys and 8 girls.  S - State Objectives: My students will further identify qualities of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and will identify his works after using Voki, and Arts and Bots. This lesson will last for a single class period and students will have a 95% degree of accuracy.  S - Select Materials: For this lesson, I will use the Arts and Bots assignment. I will provide links to tutorials and examples of bots. Students will then create their own personal Voki and write a low-stakes assignment about Voki.  U - Utilize Media and Materials: Students will begin research and learn how to use Robotics from the links provided and my instruction. Students will pick a character from their chosen book from the beginning of the week and create a robot about that character. They will then create a Voki that will tell facts about Kurt Vonnegut or information about their chosen novel.  R - Require Learner Participation: Students will have to pay attention to the instruction in reference to the robotics, they will also be expected to help their peers through the process. They will be in small groups in order to complete this assignment. The Voki they create will be presented to the class.  E - Evaluation and Revise: Students will be assessed based on the information they gathered when creating their Voki. Student participation will also be important as assessment during the robotics projects. Students will be asked to write a low stakes assignment about what they think of the robotics project and voki. The low-stakes assignment will further help me revise the instructions and interest the students might have in the projects.
