Wednesday
Analyze:
My 5th grade class consists of 20 students, 9 girls, and 11 boys. They are mostly middle class Americans,
with 2 African American children, and 1 Hispanic child. They have no learning disabilities.
State Objective:
The children will be able to explain what a hurricane is and how it is formed by having discussion,
creating Facebook posts. They will do this with 100% accuracy by the end of the day.
Select Methods:
The children will be divided into 4 groups, each group will have their own station. One station will be
using our class Facebook account, creating a post related to recent hurricanes and how they affected
them. The other three groups will be using their iPads to scan QRs throughout the classroom, which will
take them to videos about hurricanes.
Utilize Material:
-

I will provide computer access to our Facebook account.
I will provide iPad, or other devices, to scan the QRs to project the videos on the hurricanes.
I will make sure that all the groups are following their instructions in their station by walking
around to each one.

Require Learner Participation:
Students will be given the chance to make comments on our Facebook account. Giving their own input
into the topic of hurricanes and how they affect them as an individual. They will be in groups, so they
will need to interact among themselves to figure out how to scan a QR and get the videos to work. The
students will be able to ask questions if needed while I walk around the classroom. Throughout, I will
also ask questions.
Evaluate and Revise:
The students will be evaluated throughout the day by myself. I will ask each group questions on they
had learned while watching the videos and having discussion on hurricanes. At the end of the day, we
will have a time where we will discuss what they watched and learned.
