body.
When our health is
good, we feel well
physically and mentally.
We have plenty of
energy and enjoy doing
lots of different activites.

When our health is not
good, we feel tired and
often ill.
Healthy habits are very
important for good health.
 Sleep 10-11
hours every night.
 Go to bed at a
reasonable time.
 Relax and think
about your day before
you go to sleep.
 Have 5 meals a
day.
 Eat a varied diet.
 Limit sweets,
cakes an fizzy drinks.
 Drink plenty of
water.
 Wear glasses if
you need them.
 Read with
sufficient light.
 Sit at a reasonable
distance from the TV.
 Listen to music at
a reasonable volume.
 Cover your mouth
when you cough.
 Clean cuts and grazes.
 Follow road safety
rules.
 Visit the doctor and
dentist regularly.
 Wash your hands
before you eat.
 Have a shower
every day.
 Brush your teeth
after every meal.
 Keep your pets
clean.
 Do exercise
every day.
 Sit and stand
properly.
• As our bodies grow, our personality also develops.
• It is important to be positive and express our
feelings and emotions.
• We must never use violence or agression to
resolve a conflict.
• As we learn to respect people, we grow as people.
Food contains the nutrients we need to live.
Food contains a lot of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
It contains much smaller amounts of vitamins and
minerals.
Nutrients have many different functions in our body.

that our body burns
to get the energy it
needs. For example,
to study and to run.

BODY BUILDERS
Proteins build
and repair body
structures. For
example, they
grow new skin
and clean blood.
Nutrients have many different functions in our body.

REGULATORS
Vitamins and
minerals make the
body work
properly. For
example, they keep
our bones and
teeth healthy.
A diet is the combination of all the different
foods we eat.
A diet is
balanced when
it gives us
enough energy
and nutrients
for our body to
grow and work
properly.
Eat food from all groups.

Eat more food from
the bigger groups
and less from the
smaller groups.
Also do exercise and
drink lots of water
everyday.
Foods with a lot of sugar or fat are bad for our
health.
They can make us overweight and cause many
illnesses especially when we are older.

For this reason
we should only
eat them on
special
occasions.

Unit 3 health and diet

  • 1.
  • 2. Health is the general condition of person’s mind and body.
  • 3. When our health is good, we feel well physically and mentally. We have plenty of energy and enjoy doing lots of different activites. When our health is not good, we feel tired and often ill.
  • 4. Healthy habits are very important for good health.
  • 5.  Sleep 10-11 hours every night.  Go to bed at a reasonable time.  Relax and think about your day before you go to sleep.
  • 6.  Have 5 meals a day.  Eat a varied diet.  Limit sweets, cakes an fizzy drinks.  Drink plenty of water.
  • 7.  Wear glasses if you need them.  Read with sufficient light.  Sit at a reasonable distance from the TV.  Listen to music at a reasonable volume.
  • 8.  Cover your mouth when you cough.  Clean cuts and grazes.  Follow road safety rules.  Visit the doctor and dentist regularly.
  • 9.  Wash your hands before you eat.  Have a shower every day.  Brush your teeth after every meal.  Keep your pets clean.
  • 10.  Do exercise every day.  Sit and stand properly.
  • 11. • As our bodies grow, our personality also develops. • It is important to be positive and express our feelings and emotions. • We must never use violence or agression to resolve a conflict. • As we learn to respect people, we grow as people.
  • 12. Food contains the nutrients we need to live. Food contains a lot of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It contains much smaller amounts of vitamins and minerals.
  • 13. Nutrients have many different functions in our body. ENERGY PROVIDERS Carbohydrates and fats are the fuels that our body burns to get the energy it needs. For example, to study and to run.
  • 14. Nutrients have many different functions in our body. BODY BUILDERS Proteins build and repair body structures. For example, they grow new skin and clean blood.
  • 15. Nutrients have many different functions in our body. REGULATORS Vitamins and minerals make the body work properly. For example, they keep our bones and teeth healthy.
  • 16. A diet is the combination of all the different foods we eat. A diet is balanced when it gives us enough energy and nutrients for our body to grow and work properly.
  • 17. Eat food from all groups. Eat more food from the bigger groups and less from the smaller groups. Also do exercise and drink lots of water everyday.
  • 18. Foods with a lot of sugar or fat are bad for our health. They can make us overweight and cause many illnesses especially when we are older. For this reason we should only eat them on special occasions.
