The relevance of this project is to determine the effect of gyroscopic reaction on bearings. We determine the reactions on bearing due to different spinning angular velocity of rotor and at different precision angular velocity of the system . This concept is useful in selection of bearing during particular application where extra load due to gyroscopic effect occurs on any system.

This paper gives description about fuel used for various spacecraft.Spacecraft propulsion is based on jet propulsion as used by rocket motors. Propulsion in a broad sense is the act of changing the motion of a body. Propulsion mechanisms provide a force that moves bodies that are initially at rest, changes a velocity, or overcomes retarding forces when a body is propelled through a medium. Jet propulsion is a means of locomotion whereby a reaction force is imparted to a device by the momentum of ejected matter. The burning rate of the solid rocket propellants is one of the most important factors that determine the performance of the rocket. The burning rate of rocket motors running with solid propellant is called flame regression, which occurs with the ignition in the fuel grain perpendicular to the burning surface. This study investigates the effects of the addition of metal-based high-energy matter (Aluminium) into the content of the propellant produced within the scope of development project. The study starts with the manufacture of propellant samples.

The Application of Gyro in Vehicle Angle MeasurementIJRES Journal
The traditional angle sensor in angle measurement of vehicle has some disadvantages such as low stability, low reliability and anti-interference ability. Based on inertiadeviceshas a high sensitivity and little affected by magnetic interference in the measurement of angle .It does not rely on external information and stability advantages. Using gyroscopes, is developed to replace the traditional method for measuring the angle of angle sensor for vehicle, and random error in measurement results are filtered. The programme uses a CRS03-04S gyro, installed on the vehicle front wheel shaft, used to measure the angular speed of the front wheels, in order to calculate the actual angle of the front wheels. Finally, using Kalman filtering to deal with the random error in measurement results separately, so as to provide accurate real-time information around the corner on the steering control. Experimental results show that thisprogramme than with traditional sensor has better stability, reliability, and timeliness, but also is more accurate.

Modeling and validation of prototype of self stabilizing two wheeler using gy...IAEME Publication
This paper focuses on the concept of developing the two wheeler car & it’s validation with the help of prototype. This paper deals with an experiment carried out to produce gyroscopic effect on an in-house prototype. The prototype is a two wheel vehicle in which rotating discs imparted act as gyroscope to produce a counter balancing force ( gyroscopic effect) when the vehicle prototype looses balance on either sides. Thus the vehicle stabilizes itself. This paper also gives a brief of a concept vehicle developed on similar grounds with a n added feature. Wherein even if an external force is applied to the system the force sensors deployed in it sense the force and develop a force o f similar magnitude but in opposite direction due to presence of two gyroscopes used in the vehicle, thus the vehicle does not loose it’s balance even if the external force is applied to it.
Week 3 OverviewLast week, we covered multiple forces acting on.docxmelbruce90096
Week 3 Overview
Last week, we covered multiple forces acting on an object. This week we will cover motion in two dimensions, inclined planes, circular motion, and rotation.
Forces in Two Dimensions (1 of 2)
So far you have dealt with single forces acting on a body or more than two forces that act parallel to each other. But in real life situations more than one force may act on a body. How are Newton's laws applied to such cases? We will restrict the forces to two dimensions.
Since force and acceleration are vectors, Newton's law can be applied independently to the X and Y-axes of a coordinate system. For a given problem you can choose a suitable coordinate system. But once a coordinate system is chosen, we have to stick with it for that problem. The example that follows shows how to find the acceleration of a body when two forces act on it at right angles to each other.
Forces in Two Dimensions (2 of 2)
To find the resultant acceleration we draw an arrow OA of length 3 units along the X-axis and then an arrow AB of length 4 units along the Y-axis. The resultant acceleration is the arrow OB with the length of 5 units. Therefore, the acceleration is 5 m/s2 in the direction of OB. Also when you measure the angle AOB with a protractor, we find it to be 53°.
The acceleration caused by the two forces is 5 m/s2 at an angle of 53°.
Uniform Circular Motion
When an object travels in a circular path at a constant speed, its motion is referred to as uniform circular motion, and the object is accelerated towards the center of the circle. If the radius of the circular path is r, the magnitude of this acceleration is ac = v2 / r, where v is its speed and ac is called the centripetal acceleration. A centripetal force is responsible for the centripetal acceleration, which constantly pulls the object towards the center of the circular path. There cannot be any circular motion without a centripetal force.
Banking
When there is a sharp turn in the road or when a turn has to be taken at a high speed as in a racetrack, the outer part of the road or the track is raised from the inner part of the track. This is called banking. It provides additional centripetal force to a turning vehicle so that it doesn't skid.
The angle of banking is kept just right so that it provides all the centripetal force required and a motorist does not have to depend on the friction force at all.
Inclined Planes
Forces on an Inclined Plane
The inclined plane is a device that reduces the force needed to lift objects. Consider the forces acting on a block on an inclined surface. The inclined surface exerts a normal force FN on the block that is perpendicular to the incline. The force of gravity, FG, points downward. If there is no friction, the net force, Fnet, acting on the block is the resultant of FN and FG. By Newton's second law the net force must point down the incline because the block moves only along the incline and not perpendicular to it.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Consider a disc spinning
with an angular velocity ω

10. Terms Used in a Naval Ship
The top and front views of a naval ship are shown in Fig. The
fore end of the ship is
called bow and the rear end is known as stern or aft. The left
hand and right hand sides of the ship,
when viewed from the stern are called port and star-board
respectively. We shall now discuss the
effect of gyroscopic couple on the naval ship in the following
three cases:
1. Steering, 2. Pitching, and 3. Rolling.

2. When the rotor rates in the anticlockwise direction, when
viewed from the stern and the ship is steering to the left, then
the effect of reactive gyroscopic couple will be to lower the

15. Stability of a four wheel drive
moving in a curved path
Consider the four wheels A, B, C and D of an automobile locomotive
taking a sturn towards left as shown in Fig.
The wheels A and C are inner wheels, whereas B and D are outer
wheels.
The centre of gravity (C.G.) of the vehicle lies vertically above
Let m = Mass of the vehicle in kg,
W = Weight of the vehicle in Newton = m.g,
rW = Radius of the wheels in meters,
R = Radius of curvature in metres the road surface.
jahangirabad institute oftechnology 15
16. Continue…
h = Distance of centre of gravity, vertically
above the road surface in metres,
x = Width of track in metres,
IW = Mass moment of inertia of one of the
wheels in kg-m2,
ωW = Angular velocity of the wheels or velocity
of spin in rad/s,
IE = Mass moment of inertia of the rotating
parts of the engine in kg-m2,
ωE = Angular velocity of the rotating parts of
the engine in rad/s,
G = Gear ratio = ωE /ωW,
v = Linear velocity of the vehicle in m/s = ωW.rW
jahangirabad institute oftechnology 16
17. Effect of the gyroscopic couple on
4wheel drive
We know that velocity of precession,
ωP = v/R
∴ Gyroscopic couple due to 4 wheels,
CW = 4 IW.ωW.ωP
and gyroscopic couple due to the rotating parts of the engine,
CE = IE.ωE.ωP = IE.G.ωW.ωP
∴ Net gyroscopic couple,
C = CW ± CE = 4 IW.ωW.ωP ± IE.G.ωW.ωP
= ωW.ωP (4 IW ± G.IE)
The positive sign is used when the wheels and rotating parts of the engine
rotate in the same
direction. If the rotating parts of the engine revolves in opposite direction, then
negative sign is used.

18. Vibration
Vibration: When elastic bodies such as a spring, a beam
and a shaft are displaced from the equilibrium position by
the application of external forces, and then released, the
execute a vibratory motion.
jahangirabad institute oftechnology 18
19. Types of vibratory motion
1. Free or natural vibrations. When no external force acts on
the body, after giving it an initial displacement, then the body is
said to be under free or natural vibrations. The frequency of the
free vibrations is called free or natural frequency.
2. Forced vibrations. When the body vibrates under the
influence of external force, then the body is said to be under
forced vibrations.
3. Damped vibrations. When there is a reduction in amplitude
over every cycle of vibration,
the motion is said to be damped vibration.
jahangirabad institute oftechnology 19
20. Types of free vibrations
1. Longitudinal vibrations,
2. Transverse vibrations,
and
3. Torsional vibrations.
jahangirabad institute oftechnology 20
21. Free vibration
When a system is initially disturbed by a displacement,
velocity or acceleration, the system begins to vibrate with a
constant amplitude and frequency depend on its stiffness and
mass.
This frequency is called as natural frequency, and the form of
the vibration is called as mode shapes
jahangirabad institute oftechnology 21
22. jahangirabad institute oftechnology 22
Single degree free and damped
vibration.
Single degree free and
damped vibration. If the
coordinates x and y are used
to describe the motion, it
must be recognized that
these coordinates are not
independent.
23. Two degree of freedom freedom
system
Some examples of two degree of
freedom systems are shown in the
figure. The first figure shows a two
mass – two spring system that is
described by two linear
coordinates x1 and x2. The second
figure denotes a two rotor system
whose motion can be specified in
terms of θ1 and θ2. The motion of
the system in the third figure can
be described completely either by
X and θ or by x, y and X.

24. Whirling of shaft
In actual practice, a rotating shaft carries different
mountings and accessories in the form of gears, pulleys,
etc.
When the gears or pulleys are put on the shaft, the centre
of gravity of the pulley or gear does not coincide with the
centre line of the bearings or with the axis of the shaft,
when the shaft is stationary.

Critical speed.
The speed at which the shaft runs so that the additional
deflection of the shaft from the axis of rotation becomes
infinite, is known as critical or whirling speed.
