The Failure Of The Insurrectionary Movement
The Failure of the Insurrectionary Movement, 1837 1839
Canada has always been under a capitalist ruling regime for many years. The Canadian state, even
as a colony of both England and France, went through mercantilist monopolistic practices that
affected the lower working classes. During this period, the Church was powerful and was involved
in the formulation of power. The state was fully supported by the Church and gained its wealth
through illegal means with major benefits going to the aboriginal Canadian citizens. The rebellion
or uprising was aimed at fighting capitalist regime introduced by foreigners, addressing high
poverty levels and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among the Canadian citizens. This
paper will explore the sharing of power between the citizens, Church, and government during the
insurrectionary movement.
The author suggests that the Canadian natives are suffering in many ways in the hands of
foreigners. The capitalist regime is taking everything from the natives and suffer huge monetary
loss due to the high taxes. The natives cry foul of intruders who have taken control of everything
including robbing the exchequer and carrying their proceeds to their home countries. Imperialism is
the main argument that the author tries to bring out in this case. The foreigners exploited Canada s
natural resources at the expense of the local citizens. Local citizens provided cheap labor and
products to Europeans.
The author claims that the natives were

The Impact on a Student s Performance from a Highly...
INTRODUCTION
Consider a student running so swiftly from boarding house to school for his/her class. And in the
time that he/she is right there in front of the door, the teacher welcome him with an eyes wide
open and uttered, Did I ever fail to tell you not to enter my class if you are late even in a single
minute? And the pitiful student left with nothing but a teary eyes. As you put your shoe to the
students situation, what would you feel? Will you feel discouraged or will you take it as a
challenge not to be late again? Supporting to that, this paper aims to appeal who are these teachers
are and their effectiveness on enhancing the students learning, the pros and cons of a high standard
teacher, and the feedbacks of the students once handled by a high standard teacher. To implement
this study, the method to be used is by interviewing some students once handled by a high standard
teacher. We will know how and what do they think and feel whenever these teachers enter to the
classroom and how these happenings affect their performance on that particular subject. Education
is considered as learning itself. In education, a teacher has its own way to make it profound,
realistic, and a peculiar one. This may vary from person to person or from teacher to teacher.
Moreover, learning is a two way process. There is an interaction between the educator and the
learner. In every learning condition, you have to consider the barriers also, and such barriers
includes high

The Battle of Antietam Essay
Abstract
The Battle of Antietam took place on 17 September 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The battle
was fought between General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia and General McClellan s Army of the
Potomac. Although the battle lasted only 12 hours, it was a significant point of the American Civil
War, as well as the deadliest day in history. Tactically the battle was considered a draw, but the North
claimed strategic victory and President Lincoln published the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing
hundreds of thousands of slaves.

E PAYMENT; CHALLENGES AND EXPECTATIONS IN NIGERIA PUBLIC SECTOR

Trade generally involves the exchange of goods and services for corresponding abstract value like
money. [1] Money is been used as an abstract way to represent value and a system for making
payments. Development brought about new abstract ways to represent value, [2] this progressive
trend started from the barter through bank notes, payment order, cheques and later on credit cards
which climaxed to the electronic payment system. A payment system is one used for the transfer of

Essay on Olaudah Equiano
The Horrid Journey If it were not for the stories past down from generation to generation or the
documentations in historical books, the history of the twelve million African slaves that traveled
the Middle Passage in miserable conditions would not exist. Olaudah Equiano contributes to this
horrid history with The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano. Through this
narrative, the appalling personal experience of each slave is depicted. He accomplishes his
rhetorical purpose of informing the world of the slave experience in this narrative. His use of
unique style and rhetorical devices in this conveying narrative portray his imperative rhetorical
purpose. Throughout Equiano s works, a unique style is evident. This... Show more content on

In this, however, it depicts the complex journey of the African slaves that struggled to become
equal. In addition, Equiano s use of imagery clearly depicts the journey of the Africans slaves,
such as The closeness of the place, and the heat of the climate, added to the number in the ship,
which was so crowded that each had scarcely room to turn himself, almost suffocated us (45).
Through the portrayal of this vivid imagery, the reader can feel the distress of the slaves in
which they encountered the journey of the Middle Passage. He emphasizes his emotions, ideals,
and thoughts through the imagery. With the uses of this vivid imagery along with high diction
and intricate sentences, Equiano successfully attempts to inform the reader of the horrid journey
of slave transportation. However, it is not only his unique style alone that fulfils his rhetorical
purpose of depicting the appalling slave experience; in addition, his several rhetorical devices
aid to do so. Equiano s rhetorical devices which include ethos, pathos, and logos abet to define
and accomplish his rhetorical purpose. His ethos, or ethical assurance, is conveyed in his level of
education portrayed by his sentence structure and high diction. Furthermore, as proven in historical
documents, Equiano was a slave aboard one of the many slave ships. With this, the reader can
accredit Equiano s narrative to be a reliable and first hand source to the journey of the Middle
Passage.

T. S. Eliot s Rhapsody On A Windy Night
Everyone knows that life is not always easy and that there a myraid of sad situations that occur
daily. In the poem Rhapsody On a Windy Night by T. S Eliot, the speaker is trying to escape the
day to day issues by taking an all night walk, only to realize that the troubles of the day roll over
into different, but equally as troubling problems. T. S Eliot uses multiple different comparison
tequniques such as similes. It is midnight and the speaker is walking down the street describing
the darkness. Than they start to notice the street lamps: Every street lamp that I pass/Beats like a
fatalistic drum ( 8 9). Although street lamps do not ususally have a sound to them the writer is
setting the mood for the poem by using a simile that has words that combined give off an ominous
feeling. By using the word fatalistic the poem starts to take on a much more dark and creepy mood.
The speaker is trying to show that this is not going to be a positive experience that they are having

Throughout the entire poem multiple objects take on human like qualities one of these again being
the lamp posts: The street lamp said, Regard that woman/Who hesitates toward you in the light of
the door (17 18). The speaker is not only struggling from the troubles of the day, but is also lonly
because he starts to make up that the street posts are speaking to them. The use of the
personification here is trying to communicate not only the speakers lonliness, but used to narrate
some of the issues the speaker is running into on the night life of the streets, such as

The Effects Of Foreign Labor On Hawaii Essay
It is with great news that I write to you on this momentous day, brother. I have finally landed in
San Francisco. About time as well. I don t think I was ever able to gain sea legs. Now, it is time
for me just like our fellow countrymen abroad to serve Japan in expanding her influence. While
aboard the ship, I was able to to study the guides. There was a lot of useful information in all of
them. I believe I gained a great deal from How to Go to America Alone.
We stopped in Honolulu to pick up more travelers. Many were fellow Japanese who were leaving
Hawaii in search of higher paying jobs on the mainland. I must say, many of their stories did not
quite represent those that had encouraged me to take this journey. Life on Hawaii must be very
much different than on the mainland. I was told that the companies and plantations had effectively
became powerful unchecked governing forces. Abuse of foreign labor is common. I must be
positive and understand that the situation in the United States will not be the same. Hopefully, I will
be able to succeed in my studies and make a great deal of money. It is ever important that I send
my remaining earnings back home to support the family.
I have changed as a person adjusting to life in America. Finding good work has been an arduous
task. Thankfully, I have had the support of our ken. Kenjinkai has been important in my first few
years in the United States. Imagine coming this country alone without anyone familiar to fall back
upon.

The Canada s Food Guide Essay
The Canada s Food Guide has been in place since 1942, and nearly a decade has passed since the
release of the current Eating Well with Canada s Food Guide (EWCFG) (Mortillaro, 2016).
Critics believe that the time has come for the revision of the second most downloaded document
in Canada in the interest of reflecting the changing lifestyles of Canadians (Mortillaro, 2016). At
the time of its launch during World War II, male female roles differed vastly, with stay at home
moms preparing home cooked meals. However, according to latest information provided by
Statistics Canada, 69% of households with families are dual earners today (Statistics Canada,
2015). The effect of dual earning has taken its toll on Canadian food consumption patterns
(Mortillaro, 2016). Consequently, the existing food guide has received mixed reviews and
immense criticism by several researchers, and has even been declared obesogenic (Corby, 2007;
Kondro, 2006; L Abbe Mahsa, 2015). This is particularly disturbing because according to the 2004
Canadian Community Health Survey, 59% of the adult population is overweight and 1 in 4 is
obese; the numbers are even more alarming regarding children and adolescents (Karmali et al.,
2010). The cause of the obesity epidemic might be right at our fingertips with the Unhealthy Food
Guide that is imposed on Canadians. One strict change that must occur to the food guide includes
disassociating 100% fruit juices as vegetableand fruit sources, and thereby removing

Mr. Brown is willing to make an effort to understand Igbo s beliefs. He didn t try to tell them

Cosmetic Surgery Should Be Banned
Cosmetic surgery should be banned. Do you have one thing you would like to change about
your appearance? I would guess the answer is yes. People nowadays, especially women, are
consumed with their appearance. Many strive to conform to what society views as the perfect
body image and this can make people extremely insecure about the way they look. They think
that cosmetic surgery will solve this it doesn t. In fact, cosmetic surgery only enhances the need
to look beautiful and can lead to many consequences including addiction, mental illness and even
death. You may believe cosmetic surgery can help people with mental illnesses such as body
dysmorphia. However, it only acts as a plaster, hiding a much deeper problem. Providing surgery
to patients with low body confidence can lead to them craving more and more to satisfy their
needs, consequently creating a vicious circle of addiction. Cosmetic surgery can morph these type
of patients into completely different people, making them look almost unrecognisable. Imagine
looking in the mirror and not seeing yourself, but instead seeing another person, camouflaged by
the plastic injected into their face an irreversible procedure. Was it really worth it? After a recent
study in 2013 by professionals on patients mental health before and after cosmetic surgery,
psychiatrists discovered a correlation between cosmetic surgery and increased mental health issues,

Comparison Of Oedipus And Frogs
To begin with, if Oedipus and Frogs are to be taken into consideration and the aspects of the plot
dissected using the guidelines provided in Poetics, then based on Aristotle s definition of plot as
organization of events, it can be stated that the structure of plot is the same for the two stories of
opposing genres, for both have a beginning, a middle and an end one following after the other
resulting in a well constructed plot not beginning or ending at any arbitrary point (Aristotle 10 13
14). However, while the character experiences a fall from good fortune to bad fortune in most
tragedies, in most comedies the character experiences a fall from bad fortune to good fortune
(Aristotle 21 22). Thus, in regards to Oedipusit can be noted that the story follows the general plot
structure with Oedipus first facing good fortune briefly in the beginning of the play, as alluded to
by the Elder who states that Oedipus came to Thebes, saved us from the Sphinx,/ And without any
help, derived us from despair/... Now, Oedipus, our master and greatest power (Sophocleslines 35

Examples Of Flawless Execution
Flawless Execution
There are three elements to flawless execution. The flowing are: Leadership, execution engine, and
foundation. Although, this book is written by a pilot, these elements can be used in any business
to perform substantially. I know a lot of businesses fail to use these steps. I see the importance of
these steps now. That s why Pizza Artista still stands after a year in business and is kicking butt.
Leadership breaks down into three categories. Picture of the future, strategy, and intent. With the
picture of the future, a good leader will get everyone on the same page about it with specific
details. Strategy will be the plan of the organization. It comes with four key questions. What are
we going to be in the future as an organization? What are we going to deploy our resources into or
against in order to get there? How are we actually going to do this? When and how are we going to
exit and get out with some style and finesse? Answering these questions can make a huge
difference. Lastly, your intensions. Everyone needs to know your intentions are about your strategy.

Southern Comfort Definition
Southern Comfort
The old ball and chain is a phrase that many Americans are familiar with. Oftentimes we imagine
it spilling forth from the lips of some distressed, fatigued, overworked man who is with his
nagging wife. It is this image that the advertisers for Southern Comfort are trying to reproduce.
They want the person looking at the ad to sympathize with the man in the image, the man
dragging his imaginary ball and chain . We associate the ball and chain with oppression, hard
labor, and unfairness. These connotations are probably derived from the images that we have
seen in old prison movies where the convicts are forced to work the fields, shackled by a ball and
chain. Let us back up for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the man s right (the direction in which he is looking) is a woman wearing a short black dress
with black heeled shoes. The woman is holding onto the right arm of the man, clutching a purse
with her right hand. Her head is turned toward him and she appears to be smiling. Much of our
reaction to this ad comes solely from looking at these two individuals. More specifically, from the
image of the man.
The brightness of the man s shirt and the bags he is carrying stands in contrast to the black of the
woman s dress and thus attracts our eye toward him. The fact that he is carrying so many bags,
whereas the other individuals in the ad have at most one bag, also makes him the center of our
attention. By using metonymy, we substitute the bags that the man is carrying to mean that there
has been a day of shopping, a shopping spree perhaps. The paradigmatic relation between the man
and woman, aided by our own codes of what the duties of both the male and female are in a
relationship, leads us to assume that the bags do not belong to the man but rather, he is carrying
them for the woman next to him. It would be one thing if the man were walking along carrying the
bags by himself but once we see the woman next to him, holding onto his arm, our mind begins to
draw its own conclusions. Another paradigmatic relation begins to form after we have made the
assumption that the man is carrying the bags for the woman. The image of the ball and chain

Russi A Great And Catherine The Great
Russia has seen its fair share of autocratic monarchs as well, such as Peter the Great and
Catherine the Great. Peter first ascended the throne as co czar with his half brother Ivan V in the
death of their brother Feodore. Their elder sister, Sophia, was the most capable to take the
throne. But being a girl, she was unable to do so and could only rule as regent for the two princes
turned czars. While Sophia ruled, Peter spent his days building forts on the banks of a river outside
of Moscow. He played war games using them, recruiting in boys and arming them with real guns.
The games were dangerous; 24 boys were once killed in a single game. But the games eventually
paid off, and Peter had himself two self trained armies that he used to overthrow Sophia and rule
the throne himself. The regent was forced into an enclosed convent, living as a nun for the rest of
her days (Russia, Land of Tsars: Time of Troubles).
Life in Russia had changed very little since the Middle Ages. Russia had not experienced a
Renaissance and was quite backwards in terms of lifestyle compared to Western Europe. Peter
wanted to change all that. He viewed the church as an impediment to progress in Russia, wanting
to break their restraining bonds of complex customs and modernize Russia (Russia, Land of Tsars:
Time of Troubles). It s time to constrain the authority not proper to the old man [i.e., the patriarch];

have dated back the Cambrian Period (about 600 million years ago). Structurally, squids have only
small variations of a basic theme common to all cephalopods. They are spherical or cigar shaped
with two fins used to stabilize movement when swimming. Ten arms are easily distinguished
emerging from near the mouth Eight of these arms each have four rows of suction cups encircled
by rings of chitinous (horny) hooks. These suction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Squids (and cephalopods in general) possess several unusual abilities that help them deal with
their predators (which range anything from large fish to sperm whales). Their lack of an external
shell allows them to squeeze into very tight places, enabling them to conveniently and easily hide
from their enemies. When confronted with a dangerous animal away from hiding places, however,
squids seem to have a disadvantage when compared to other mollusks with external shells. If
attacked, they have no exterior protection. To counter this potential crisis, they have adapted a
number of tactics. First, they are capable of temporarily altering the color of their skin, in effect
camouflaging themselves. They can shift their appearance from a deep brown color, to a white, or
almost transparent quality. Along with this, they are able to slightly change the texture of their
skin. This form of camouflage allows the squid to take the form of rocks, seaweed, or other ocean
dwelling objects. If a hazardous foe is not fooled by camouflage, the squid can release an ink
cloud. The ink cloud has a number of helpful characteristics that can ward off enemies. The cloud
initially causes the nearby water to become dark and cloudy, reducing the enemy s visibility and
allowing the squid to escape from danger. Some deep sea squids contain bacteria in their ink so
that the cloud glows, and scares away harmful rivals.

What Is The Difference Between Jamestown And Downtown...
Although its long played second fiddle to Midtown and Downtown Manhattan, Downtown
Brooklyn is one of the hottest office markets in the New York metropolitan area and with good
reason! The neighborhood has much to offer prospective tenants, including affordable rents and an
excellent transportation infrastructure. For companies seeking a more affordable alternative to
Midtown and Lower Manhattanthat s fairly easy to get to, Downtown Brooklyn is hard to beat. A
2004 rezoning by the Bloomberg Administration has also helped to usher in a wave of new
developments throughout the neighborhood. Anchored by MetroTech Center, the area is home to a

Cultural Diversity Case Study Magnet Schools

the process, even when the 80% of the students knew that they had other options than the magnet

diverse cultural backgrounds. Not every student learns the same way, or organizes their work the
same, they needed to be inclusive. The 20% of the students that chose Scott Magnet School were
probably struggling to achieve, since the requirements were totally different. Additionally, the
Hispanics were probably struggling in any school that they chose since the other schools did not

Wendy s Crisis Management
On March 22, Wendy s has faced a crisis after a 39 years old woman, Anna Ayala, allegedly
claimed that she had bitten down on a human fingertip in a spoonful of Wendy s chili at a San

Wendy s to face the issue of recovering its brand image since then. At the beginning, the police
was still unable to identify whose the finger was and was uncertainty about whether the finger
came from a dead or live person. However, the police was able to initially identify that the object
was assumed to be from a woman because of its long and manicured nail. Furthermore, the

The Pros And Cons Of Genetic Modification
Imagine a world where disease and impairments could be cured or no longer exist. Where humans
no longer have to live with or fight cancer, diabetes, HIV, blindness, hearing impairment or
Alzheimer s. Genetic modification may make all of this possible in our near future, but there is a
question that continues circling people s minds: is this ethically right? First, we should understand
what ethicsis. Ethics involves classifying, and defending the standards and concepts of right and
wrong behavior. It is the study of systems of moral duty. Furthermore, being ethical is more than
understanding what the right thing to do is; therefore, you should avoid what is wrong and bad.
Genetic modification, also known as genetic engineering, genetic enhancement, or genome
manipulation. First accomplished by Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen, in 1972. It is the direct
manipulation of an organism s genome using biotechnology. It is a set of technologies used to
change the genetic makeup of cells, including the transfer of genes within and across species
boundaries to produce improved or novel organisms. New DNA is obtained by either isolating or
copying the genetic material of interest using molecular cloning methods or by artificially
synthesizing the DNA. There are several areas of genetic modification; for example, genetic
engineering of animals, crops, embryos, human cells and cloning. Human advancements seems to
be the biggest issue when it comes to genetic engineering, a large majority

Compare And Contrast Gerty In The Lamplighter
True looked at Gerty in perfect wonder and distress. He knew nothing about children, and was
astonished at her simplicity. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew
what he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another
violent coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one
night, at least. So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along
confidently by his side, never asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any
other in the book The Lamplighter. Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life.
Her previous foster parents were all despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a
woman named Nan Grant. The only good thing about this home is that every night a man would
come around and light the lamps along the sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the
lamplighter come by. They first spoke to each other when Gerty came running back to the house
with milk and tripped, resulting in the milk spilling everywhere. True, the lamplighter, was
taken aback by Gerty s appearance but then said, kindly She won t be hard on such a mite of a

Tidal Restoration
Estuarine environments are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth. Not only do they
provide measureable environmental benefits, but social and economic benefits. Salt marshes
provide habitat and serve as food resources for various wildlife such as shellfish, fish, and birds.
They also act as nurseries for commercially and recreationally important shell and fin fisheries.
Nearby land and waterbodies are protected from flooding, storm surges, shoreline stabilization,
nutrient absorption, and water quality improvement. Wetlands and marshes not only provide the
environmental aspects just mentioned, they also serve as an educational and recreational
opportunity for the community. For healthy survival, salt marshplant species require proper tidal

Though reversing massive environmental damage may abide as impossible, over long term
periods, reversal of tidal restriction and restoration of the ecosystem is plausible. The main
objectives for proper tidal flow restoration are to eliminate invasive plants growing in the area,

return proper flow, and restore the native population of organisms. Specific materials such as
installing modified tide gates or bidirectional flow tide gates, such as self regulating tide gates

saline tidal flow, help control Phragmites, decrease fire hazards and mosquito breeding, restore
normal saltmarsh biotic conditions, and protect adjacent development from flooding (Reiner 2011).

Nicodemus Influence On African Americans
Before its settlement, Nicodemus and its surrounding lands were territory of the Southern
Cheyenne Native American tribe in the mid 1700s. The Cheyenne were a primarily nomadic
tribe that followed herds of bison. Bison were not solely hunted as a means of food; the
Cheyenne made clothes from bison hides and used bones for tools and ceremonial purposes (Lavin
et al.). In the spring of 1877, a group of thirty African Americans from Lexington, Kentucky headed
west. This group of settlers became the founders and organizers of Nicodemus, incorporating the
town in July of 1877. W.R. Hill, a white land speculator, hoped to profit from migrating African
Americans by organizing and transporting groups from Lexington and Georgetown to Nicodemus
for a fee. In his handbill of 1877, Hill promised that the colonists coming to Nicodemus would find
buildings erected, an abundance of supplies, houses, well platted streets, and businesses (Hinger
43). By September, over three hundred African American men, women and children from Kentucky
arrived in Nicodemus. The land they came upon was not what it was promised to be. Instead of a
thriving community, they found a desolate prairie. Willianna Hickman recounted her first

Police Brutality And The Law Enforcement
Police Brutality The duties of law enforcement involve looking after the American people. As the
Los Angeles Police Department puts it, it is the police s duty to Protect and Serve the
community. As Americans, we should expect to be able to rely on local police to solve our
problems and bring peace and stability to society. Yet, as current events have shown, these
promises are not always fulfilled. Since the late 1960s, America has begun to grow from a racially
segregated nation, into one of unity and equality. Today there is no doubt that immense progress
has been made, however events involving our law enforcement and minorities has seemed to halt
such progress. Police brutalitycontinues to be a major issue nationwide with the... Show more

Recently, the public has begun to once again rise up against such heinous crimes that seem to hail
from an era before civil rights.
Police brutality notoriously rose during the 1990s. The most guilty of this was the Los Angeles
Police Department. After the introduction of crack cocaine plagued the streets of American
cities, Los Angeles took the initiative of upgrading its CRASH Unit (Community Resources
Against Street Hoodlums). By April 1988, nearly 1,567 minorities were arrested on just one
weekend, yet about 10% of these arrests actually led to felony convictions. By 1998, the
CRASH unit was embroiled once again in a scandal known as the Rampart Scandal. More than
seventy officers assigned to the Rampart Division were accused of strong police misconduct.
These officers were accused of targeting minorities and planting evidence on these victims,
framing them to higher their positions in the LAPD. (Source #3) In the middle of all this, one
case would implant the image of police brutality to all Americans for years to come. On March 4,
1991, an African American man named Rodney King had been drinking earlier in the night and
was on his way home, speeding on the highway which brought attention to an officer stationed
there and proceed to pursue King. After attempting to outrun police, King was eventually cornered
by police. What would be expected to be a quick arrest after being pulled over quickly turned

and their consequential effects on the environment, is perhaps one of the most pressing issues we,
not just as Americans, but as human beings face in our lifetimes. Though it may sound like a

97% of climate scientists agree that such increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration are
man made (Global Climate Change: Consensus). Why then is it that the news media treats such
widely held views by experts as debate rather than consensus? The answer may lie in the media s
current and skewed standards of what constitutes objectivity and balance .
It can be said that the mainstream American news media holds objective reporting in a high
regard, and rightfully so. Such a journalistic culture finds its roots in the Fairness Doctrine, a
policy implemented by the Federal Communications Commission in 1949(Boliek) in response to
muckraking and irresponsible journalistic practices of prior times. The Fairness Doctrine
mandated that news organizations provide contrasting views of controversial issues in an equal
manner. Though the Fairness Doctrine was repealed in 1987, and its official language removed in
2011, the effects of this policy still seem to play a significant role in the mainstream media
(Boliek). It can be argued that the residual effects of this policy have mutated into a heavy
emphasis on fairness and balance (in some cases, and in other cases not as much) that has made
many journalists lose their focus on what objectivity actually means.
In a publication Objectivity Balance: Today s Best Practices in American Journalismby Joel Kaplan,

What is an open adoption? In an open adoption, the adoptive family and birth parents have contact.
The amount and type of contact varies depending upon the situation, the people involved, and terms
agreed upon prior to the adoption. Some adoptive families and birth parents conduct personal visits.
Some go to great lengths to ensure that the adopted child maintains a relationship with the birth

By thanking his supporters, he encourages continuous support to pursue his ideal of equality and
freedom. Mandela wants to engage the different dichotomies to unite the people of South Africa.
Most importantly he speaks for the abolishment of the apartheid government. His tone is
passionate and motivational, and his delivery is slow and deliberate which is important to convey
his message as he needs to empower his listeners towards action. With methods of development, he
successfully conveys his tone. Using anaphora at the beginning with his salutations, he is able to
emphasize his thankful sentiments towards his supporters. He also uses lots of symbolism and
patriotism to emotionally appeal to citizens. With parallelism in sentences, he creates balance and
rhythm in his speech. Repetition is used when speaking about things he intends to do. For
example, he repeatedly uses negotiate to emphasize its necessity. The speech in my opinion is
very effective because Mandela uses emotional appeal at the start to engage listeners and to
receive sympathy. With the momentum from that, he adds logical and ethical arguments to deliver
his point. A year later Mandela was elected as president and he won the Nobel Peace Prize so
history can confirm its effectiveness. Nelson Mandela was a very influential speaker, allowing him

The Red Candle In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club
The great battle of books vs movies is never ending. A book provides insight of the characters

Than the blight had returned in 1879 and continued to cause eviction and starvation along western

Tupac Shakur And The West
I m a reflection of the community, Tupac Shakur. (3) For most artists, music creates a medium
that can be used to express their thoughts and feelings to listeners, but for Tupac Shakur, known
mostly as 2Pac, music became the medium in which he communicated not only his own struggles,
but also the struggles of his community and his peers. (1) Tupac possessed an uncanny ability to
express emotion through his lyrics, being able to tell detailed and tangible stories about the daily
violence and crime that he witnessed while growing up in the impoverished community of East
Harlem, New York (Tupac moved to Los Angeles when he was 17). (4) Tupac s counterpart,

(M) Another reason Tupac should rest on a tier of his own comes from his ability to connect to the
hoi polloi not only physically, but emotionally as well. (L) Tupac gained fame by rappingabout real
issues that plagued the society that he lived in, setting Tupac aside from the rest of the rappers
who only rapped about money, drugs, and woman. (S) Tupac really came onto the scene with
the song Brenda s Got a Baby. (L) The song provides a chilling tale of a young girl in his
neighborhood who turned to prostitution as a means of supporting herself and her child,
ultimately leading to her death. (M) With Tupac, you can feel the emotion in every word he
raps, and part of the reason why this happens is because he s so versatile (Holden). (L) Another
song that had great influence on society and Tupac s legacy, Keep Your Head Up , became a hit
song when released in 1993, quickly climbing to the top of the music charts. (S) In the song,
Tupac tackles the issue of the lack of appreciation for woman. (M) Tupac took the struggles of
living in poverty and the ghetto and turned it into poetry. At times he tried to spread positive
messages in his music (Art of Rap Music). (S) Tupac s music will forever remain in the hearts of
its listeners because of its emotion, power, and ability to relate to. By reaching the hearts of his
listeners, Tupac has influenced many of the prolific rapper of today. Tupac was the first one to

1. What was the purpose of the New Democracy strategy? Was it successful? Explain.
The purpose of the New Democracy strategy was meant to spur China s political and economic
recovery. In order to do so, it required the support of the poorer peasants and productivity so that it

The land redistribution program for the peasants was positively accepted such that Mao believed
that the next step, the Great Leap Forward, would also be successful. Unfortunately, the program
failed because the rural collectives did not accomplish the economic and administrative tasks
assigned to them. Instead, the program was established in the wrong moment due to bad weather,
which contributed to the downward trend of food production. Furthermore, many peasants resisted
the efforts to work, thus it also contributed to millions of people dying from starvation in the next
several years.
3. Was the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution evidence of Communism s strength or its
weakness? Explain.
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was an evidence of Communism s strength because a
vast majority of the economic and educational reforms were carried out successfully. By
introducing a new school system and eradicating profit incentives, it enabled Mao to spread its
communism ideologies into practice in China. For instance, instead of teaching children science
and humanities, Mao encouraged schools to teach what s more important, the Little Red Book,
which were Mao s maxim regarding revolutionary passion and good behavior. Moreover, thoughts,
culture, habits, and culture from the past that did not belong with Mao s communism ideologies
were also eliminated. In other words, with

Impacts of technology on Outsourcing
Outsourcing has become so prevalent in recent years that one can say that we are living in an age
of outsourcing. Outsourcing have grown globally on such a scale that many companies and
organizations have uprooted their entire workforce and moved them to across nations for various
reasons. The global outsourcing market has continued to grow exponentially within in the past
decades which would explain why many companies flock to it. According to Chamberland (2003),
the global outsourcing market was estimated at 72 billion dollars in 2002, estimated to rise to 100

This allows the service provider to manage the business processes which may include resources that
are necessary to providing services. For example, the technology, equipments and personnel are
transferred to the service provider. The amount transferred to the service provider often depends on
the magnitude or complexity of the services to be carried out. Additionally, the magnitude and
complexity of the service also determines the how long the relation between the organization and
the service provider.
Chamberland (2003), also points out that outsourcing s transfer of ownership to the service
provider differentiates it from other business relationships. In other business agreements, if an
organization still retains its processes, then the organization is purchasing time which is a services
relationship. However, if the contracted service provider owns and controls the processes, then the
organization is outsourcing. For example, a manufacturing company that hires an outside IT
company to help repair and maintain its computer system is not outsourcing. On the other hand, a
manufacturing company that transfers some of its business processes to an outside service provider
that will provide customer service and Human resource management services back to the company
for some years is outsourcing.
Much like other business agreements, there are

Abstract
Mental illness is an area that many people are uncomfortable with. There is something suspicious
about people who tend to appear mentally ill. This creates nervousness, fear, while presenting the
unknown; therefore, Stigma. Now Stigma is defined as disgrace or public disapproval, which can
lead to the devaluation of a person. Because of the stigma and devaluation it creates significant
barriers for those targeted simply because of their mental status, such as fear, doubt, shame, and
isolation. People are being labeled; they are seen as being mentally ill instead of having a mental
illness. The purpose of this paper is to present the documented effects of the stigma associational
with having the mental illness Schizophrenia by providing research from the field of Psychology,

The Photograph, Two Beds
The photograph, Two Beds, Two Windows taken by Jack Leigh is a silver gelatin print from
1981. In this era of color photography, a photograph like this with black, white and grey hues is a
novelty, especially for the younger generation. On first glance, the exhibit appears to be a simple
photograph of a cabin with two beds and two windows giving a view of a coastline and an ocean in
the distance. Even then it does manage to strike a chord and one can identify with The Conflict
Within the human mind. It is a perfect metaphorical representation of the two sides of the human
mind. On seeing the photo for the first time one can conclude that it shows the interior of a
bedroom in a cabin and that it is located on the coast. The room has... Show more content on

Whereas outside the windows, one can see some shrubbery followed by a coastline and an endless
ocean stretching up to the horizon outside. Its vastness is compelling. There are two beds inside the
room. The bed to the left is covered with a ruffled bed sheet of indistinct and dull print. It even
has a pillow flung on top of it. The other is covered neatly with a bright bed sheet having a flower
print design. Here the pillow is tucked away beneath the sheet. Out of the two windows in the
room, the one on the left has the shutter half way down and the one to the right has the shutter
wide open. But both windows are shut and at the top, light can be seen streaming in mainly
through the unshuttered window. It helps brighten, mostly the right side of the room. Windows
and beds are separated by chasms of dark shadows. The walls are made of horizontal planks of
wood. Outside the window, one can see shrubs causing a barricade like appearance. This is
followed by the coastline and the ocean waves crashing against it. In the distance one can see the
sky meeting the ocean at the horizon.
This photograph of a bedroom overlooking the coastline in grey hues immediately sets one in a
reflective mood. The use of sharp lines and the closed space in the cabin is strikingly similar to a
closed human mind. The bedroom, a place of leisure and rest can be considered a representation of
the subconscious mind. Here one s

Cultural Factors That Influence Consumer Behavior
There are four main factors that influence the consumer s behavior; cultural, social, personal, and
physiological. These factors determine what the consumer will buy, why they buy an item, and if
they will be a return customer. Culture is a very complex factor that plays a vital role in a
customer s behavior. Culture can be broken down into sub factors such as culture, sub culture,
and social class. Culture impacts every part of our behavior, not specifically our buying trends.
There are habits that are acquire as humans and everyday members of society. Sub culture
influences tend to be a little more powerful because it is narrowed down to our nation, religion,
races, and many more factors. The most powerful sub factor in culture is your social class. Social
class does not always mean, income. Social class indicates more of your surroundings such as
educational backgrounds, your living environment, as well as your economic state. From Torrid s
marketingstandpoint, they are targeting the entire nation with these larger clothes, as they see this
being an epidemic amongst the United States. Taking a closer look at our social class, we can see
all of the social factors that are involved in the purchasing of consumergoods. Factors such as
relationships, personal roles, and economic stability. Relational influences often tend to be one of
the largest factors in looking at a product. Normally, a family member, friend, or coworker might
convey their approval for a product, in

The Models Have Different Approaches Towards The Concept...
Nursing Both models have different approaches towards the concept of nursing. Leininger
presented nursing as activities directed toward assisting, enabling, and supporting with the cultural
beliefs and values of the recipient of care (Masters, 2014, p. 69). Nursing is a general profession
which includes culturally congruent care; nurses provide care for members of diverse cultures.
According to JaroЕЎovГЎ (2014), nursing is presented by three types of activities which are
culturally congruent with the needs and values of clients (p. 49). However, Roy defines nursing as
using the four adaptive modes, promote adaptation for individuals and groups, thus contributing to
health, quality of life, and dying with dignity (McEwen Wills, 2014, p. 179). JaroЕЎovГЎ, (2014)
explained that nursing focuses on adaptive abilities of individual, families, and communities. By
manipulating focal and contextual stimuli and decreasing the influence of residual stimuli, nursing
strives to reduce ineffective responses and promote adaptation of individual in health and illness (p.
54). The metaparadigm concepts are well defined in these two models. However, there are some
similarities and differences found between the two models. The relationship among the concepts is
evident and is related to one another, and these are consistent with the model s scientific
assumptions. However, in philosophical assumptions, the definition and relationship of the
concepts are not clearly consistent.

  • 2. The Failure Of The Insurrectionary Movement The Failure of the Insurrectionary Movement, 1837 1839 Canada has always been under a capitalist ruling regime for many years. The Canadian state, even as a colony of both England and France, went through mercantilist monopolistic practices that affected the lower working classes. During this period, the Church was powerful and was involved in the formulation of power. The state was fully supported by the Church and gained its wealth through illegal means with major benefits going to the aboriginal Canadian citizens. The rebellion or uprising was aimed at fighting capitalist regime introduced by foreigners, addressing high poverty levels and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among the Canadian citizens. This paper will explore the sharing of power between the citizens, Church, and government during the insurrectionary movement. The author suggests that the Canadian natives are suffering in many ways in the hands of foreigners. The capitalist regime is taking everything from the natives and suffer huge monetary loss due to the high taxes. The natives cry foul of intruders who have taken control of everything including robbing the exchequer and carrying their proceeds to their home countries. Imperialism is the main argument that the author tries to bring out in this case. The foreigners exploited Canada s natural resources at the expense of the local citizens. Local citizens provided cheap labor and products to Europeans. The author claims that the natives were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

T. S Eliot uses multiple different comparison tequniques such as similes. It is midnight and the speaker is walking down the street describing the darkness. Than they start to notice the street lamps: Every street lamp that I pass/Beats like a fatalistic drum ( 8 9). Although street lamps do not ususally have a sound to them the writer is setting the mood for the poem by using a simile that has words that combined give off an ominous feeling. I don t think I was ever able to gain sea legs. Now, it is time for me just like our fellow countrymen abroad to serve Japan in expanding her influence. While aboard the ship, I was able to to study the guides. There was a lot of useful information in all of them. I believe I gained a great deal from How to Go to America Alone. We stopped in Honolulu to pick up more travelers. Many were fellow Japanese who were leaving Hawaii in search of higher paying jobs on the mainland. I must say, many of their stories did not quite represent those that had encouraged me to take this journey. Life on Hawaii must be very much different than on the mainland. I was told that the companies and plantations had effectively became powerful unchecked governing forces. Abuse of foreign labor is common. I must be positive and understand that the situation in the United States will not be the same. Hopefully, I will be able to succeed in my studies and make a great deal of money. • 9. The Canada s Food Guide Essay The Canada s Food Guide has been in place since 1942, and nearly a decade has passed since the release of the current Eating Well with Canada s Food Guide (EWCFG) (Mortillaro, 2016). Critics believe that the time has come for the revision of the second most downloaded document in Canada in the interest of reflecting the changing lifestyles of Canadians (Mortillaro, 2016). At the time of its launch during World War II, male female roles differed vastly, with stay at home moms preparing home cooked meals. However, according to latest information provided by Statistics Canada, 69% of households with families are dual earners today (Statistics Canada, 2015). The effect of dual earning has taken its toll on Canadian food consumption patterns (Mortillaro, 2016). Consequently, the existing food guide has received mixed reviews and immense criticism by several researchers, and has even been declared obesogenic (Corby, 2007; Kondro, 2006; L Abbe Mahsa, 2015). This is particularly disturbing because according to the 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey, 59% of the adult population is overweight and 1 in 4 is obese; the numbers are even more alarming regarding children and adolescents (Karmali et al., 2010). The cause of the obesity epidemic might be right at our fingertips with the Unhealthy Food Guide that is imposed on Canadians. They think that cosmetic surgery will solve this it doesn t. In fact, cosmetic surgery only enhances the need to look beautiful and can lead to many consequences including addiction, mental illness and even death. You may believe cosmetic surgery can help people with mental illnesses such as body dysmorphia. However, it only acts as a plaster, hiding a much deeper problem. Providing surgery to patients with low body confidence can lead to them craving more and more to satisfy their needs, consequently creating a vicious circle of addiction. Cosmetic surgery can morph these type of patients into completely different people, making them look almost unrecognisable. Oftentimes we imagine it spilling forth from the lips of some distressed, fatigued, overworked man who is with his nagging wife. It is this image that the advertisers for Southern Comfort are trying to reproduce. They want the person looking at the ad to sympathize with the man in the image, the man dragging his imaginary ball and chain . We associate the ball and chain with oppression, hard labor, and unfairness. The woman is holding onto the right arm of the man, clutching a purse with her right hand. Her head is turned toward him and she appears to be smiling. Much of our reaction to this ad comes solely from looking at these two individuals. More specifically, from the image of the man. The brightness of the man s shirt and the bags he is carrying stands in contrast to the black of the woman s dress and thus attracts our eye toward him. The fact that he is carrying so many bags, whereas the other individuals in the ad have at most one bag, also makes him the center of our attention. By using metonymy, we substitute the bags that the man is carrying to mean that there has been a day of shopping, a shopping spree perhaps. The paradigmatic relation between the man and woman, aided by our own codes of what the duties of both the male and female are in a relationship, leads us to assume that the bags do not belong to the man but rather, he is carrying them for the woman next to him. It would be one thing if the man were walking along carrying the bags by himself but once we see the woman next to him, holding onto his arm, our mind begins to draw its own conclusions. Another paradigmatic relation begins to form after we have made the assumption that the man is carrying the bags for the woman. The image of the ball and chain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But being a girl, she was unable to do so and could only rule as regent for the two princes turned czars. While Sophia ruled, Peter spent his days building forts on the banks of a river outside of Moscow. He played war games using them, recruiting in boys and arming them with real guns. The games were dangerous; 24 boys were once killed in a single game. But the games eventually paid off, and Peter had himself two self trained armies that he used to overthrow Sophia and rule the throne himself. The regent was forced into an enclosed convent, living as a nun for the rest of her days (Russia, Land of Tsars: Time of Troubles). Life in Russia had changed very little since the Middle Ages. Russia had not experienced a Renaissance and was quite backwards in terms of lifestyle compared to Western Europe. Peter wanted to change all that. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Squids (and cephalopods in general) possess several unusual abilities that help them deal with their predators (which range anything from large fish to sperm whales). Their lack of an external shell allows them to squeeze into very tight places, enabling them to conveniently and easily hide from their enemies. When confronted with a dangerous animal away from hiding places, however, squids seem to have a disadvantage when compared to other mollusks with external shells. If attacked, they have no exterior protection. To counter this potential crisis, they have adapted a number of tactics. First, they are capable of temporarily altering the color of their skin, in effect camouflaging themselves. They can shift their appearance from a deep brown color, to a white, or almost transparent quality. Along with this, they are able to slightly change the texture of their skin. This form of camouflage allows the squid to take the form of rocks, seaweed, or other ocean dwelling objects. If a hazardous foe is not fooled by camouflage, the squid can release an ink cloud. The ink cloud has a number of helpful characteristics that can ward off enemies. The cloud initially causes the nearby water to become dark and cloudy, reducing the enemy s visibility and allowing the squid to escape from danger. Some deep sea squids contain bacteria in their ink so that the cloud glows, and scares away harmful rivals. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where humans no longer have to live with or fight cancer, diabetes, HIV, blindness, hearing impairment or Alzheimer s. Genetic modification may make all of this possible in our near future, but there is a question that continues circling people s minds: is this ethically right? First, we should understand what ethicsis. Ethics involves classifying, and defending the standards and concepts of right and wrong behavior. It is the study of systems of moral duty. Furthermore, being ethical is more than understanding what the right thing to do is; therefore, you should avoid what is wrong and bad. Genetic modification, also known as genetic engineering, genetic enhancement, or genome manipulation. First accomplished by Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen, in 1972. It is the direct manipulation of an organism s genome using biotechnology. It is a set of technologies used to change the genetic makeup of cells, including the transfer of genes within and across species boundaries to produce improved or novel organisms. New DNA is obtained by either isolating or copying the genetic material of interest using molecular cloning methods or by artificially synthesizing the DNA. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew what he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another violent coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one night, at least. So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along confidently by his side, never asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any other in the book The Lamplighter. Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life. Her previous foster parents were all despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a woman named Nan Grant. The only good thing about this home is that every night a man would come around and light the lamps along the sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the lamplighter come by. • 31. Nicodemus Influence On African Americans Before its settlement, Nicodemus and its surrounding lands were territory of the Southern Cheyenne Native American tribe in the mid 1700s. The Cheyenne were a primarily nomadic tribe that followed herds of bison. Bison were not solely hunted as a means of food; the Cheyenne made clothes from bison hides and used bones for tools and ceremonial purposes (Lavin et al.). In the spring of 1877, a group of thirty African Americans from Lexington, Kentucky headed west. This group of settlers became the founders and organizers of Nicodemus, incorporating the town in July of 1877. W.R. Hill, a white land speculator, hoped to profit from migrating African Americans by organizing and transporting groups from Lexington and Georgetown to Nicodemus for a fee. In his handbill of 1877, Hill promised that the colonists coming to Nicodemus would find buildings erected, an abundance of supplies, houses, well platted streets, and businesses (Hinger 43). Recently, the public has begun to once again rise up against such heinous crimes that seem to hail from an era before civil rights. Police brutality notoriously rose during the 1990s. The most guilty of this was the Los Angeles Police Department. After the introduction of crack cocaine plagued the streets of American cities, Los Angeles took the initiative of upgrading its CRASH Unit (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums). By April 1988, nearly 1,567 minorities were arrested on just one weekend, yet about 10% of these arrests actually led to felony convictions. By 1998, the CRASH unit was embroiled once again in a scandal known as the Rampart Scandal. More than seventy officers assigned to the Rampart Division were accused of strong police misconduct. These officers were accused of targeting minorities and planting evidence on these victims, framing them to higher their positions in the LAPD. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 97% of climate scientists agree that such increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration are man made (Global Climate Change: Consensus). Why then is it that the news media treats such widely held views by experts as debate rather than consensus? The answer may lie in the media s current and skewed standards of what constitutes objectivity and balance . It can be said that the mainstream American news media holds objective reporting in a high regard, and rightfully so. Such a journalistic culture finds its roots in the Fairness Doctrine, a policy implemented by the Federal Communications Commission in 1949(Boliek) in response to muckraking and irresponsible journalistic practices of prior times. The Fairness Doctrine mandated that news organizations provide contrasting views of controversial issues in an equal manner. Though the Fairness Doctrine was repealed in 1987, and its official language removed in 2011, the effects of this policy still seem to play a significant role in the mainstream media (Boliek). It can be argued that the residual effects of this policy have mutated into a heavy emphasis on fairness and balance (in some cases, and in other cases not as much) that has made many journalists lose their focus on what objectivity actually means. In this era of color photography, a photograph like this with black, white and grey hues is a novelty, especially for the younger generation. On first glance, the exhibit appears to be a simple photograph of a cabin with two beds and two windows giving a view of a coastline and an ocean in the distance. Even then it does manage to strike a chord and one can identify with The Conflict Within the human mind. It is a perfect metaphorical representation of the two sides of the human mind. Its vastness is compelling. There are two beds inside the room. The bed to the left is covered with a ruffled bed sheet of indistinct and dull print. It even has a pillow flung on top of it. The other is covered neatly with a bright bed sheet having a flower print design. Here the pillow is tucked away beneath the sheet. Out of the two windows in the room, the one on the left has the shutter half way down and the one to the right has the shutter wide open. Windows and beds are separated by chasms of dark shadows. The walls are made of horizontal planks of wood. Outside the window, one can see shrubs causing a barricade like appearance. This is followed by the coastline and the ocean waves crashing against it. In the distance one can see the sky meeting the ocean at the horizon. This photograph of a bedroom overlooking the coastline in grey hues immediately sets one in a reflective mood. • 51. The Models Have Different Approaches Towards The Concept... Nursing Both models have different approaches towards the concept of nursing. Leininger presented nursing as activities directed toward assisting, enabling, and supporting with the cultural beliefs and values of the recipient of care (Masters, 2014, p. 69). Nursing is a general profession which includes culturally congruent care; nurses provide care for members of diverse cultures. According to JaroЕЎovГЎ (2014), nursing is presented by three types of activities which are culturally congruent with the needs and values of clients (p. 49). However, Roy defines nursing as using the four adaptive modes, promote adaptation for individuals and groups, thus contributing to health, quality of life, and dying with dignity (McEwen Wills, 2014, p. 179). JaroЕЎovГЎ, (2014) explained that nursing focuses on adaptive abilities of individual, families, and communities. By manipulating focal and contextual stimuli and decreasing the influence of residual stimuli, nursing strives to reduce ineffective responses and promote adaptation of individual in health and illness (p. 54). The metaparadigm concepts are well defined in these two models. However, there are some similarities and differences found between the two models. The relationship among the concepts is evident and is related to one another, and these are consistent with the model s scientific assumptions. However, in philosophical assumptions, the definition and relationship of the concepts are not clearly consistent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
