Essay On Formal Writing
13. When should you write like you talk and when is it best to be more formal?
There are two forms of communication: formal and casual. When writing, you need to know your
audience and select your words carefully. Formal writing is used in professional settings, college level
papers, book reports, writing to an authority s figure, or business to allow you to get your point across
without using offensive words or voice. This type of writing is eloquent with proper use of grammar
and phrases to add credibility to what you are saying. Formal writing should never use slang or
abbreviated words. Formal writing is extremely important to allow the writer to create a business
presentation or formal business letter that sounds educated and ... Show more content on

Although, as in formal writing, you cannot always use the same simple words. The use of big words
gives ones writing more punch and helps the reader to improve their vocabulary. It is very important
when using big words that they are used appropriately and do not change the content of what is being
written. A writer needs to use caution when picking big words. If the reader has trouble understanding
the words used then what the writer is trying to say gets lost. Some may also say that using big words
makes the writer look pompous. There is a very fine line between using the precise word, and using a
word that sounds important. It is more important to select the precise word to describe a situation, than
to settle on another word that just doesn t convey the same feeling. As Mark Twain once said, The
difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter it s the difference
between the lightning bug and the lightning. 15. Why is the you viewpoint important and why should
you avoid using the you viewpoint manipulatively?
The you viewpoint helps the writer grab the reader s attention and bases its points on the reader s
interest. The writer needs to concentrate on what the reader needs versus what you want from the
reader. This type of writing strengthens the writer s persuasiveness. You need

The Importance of International Commercial Arbitration Essay
Introduction
International commercial arbitration is one of the most important legal institutions in international
private law. This conclusion follows from the fact that the nature of arbitration depends largely on
autonomy of the parties, who choose arbitration procedure as the procedure in which the dispute will
be settled; place where the arbitration is to be held; arbitral tribunal etc. Probably the most important
and considerable expression of the autonomy is the right to choose the law, which is to be applied to
merits of the dispute. The chosen applicable law guarantees in large measure predictability of the
outcome of the case and allows parties to control the scope of interpretation and application of the

The subject of the research is the law applicable in international commercial arbitration. The paper
will first deal with the law applicable to arbitration agreement. Secondly, the question of
determination of law applicable to the merits of the dispute will be brought up including the case when
the intention of the parties can be found and the situation when there is absence of the choice of law
made by the parties. The significance of the selected research topic can be explained by the fact that
international commercial arbitral proceedings is widely used by the parties of commercial transactions
as the effective method of dispute settlement and the issue of applicable law to the merits of the
dispute is one of the main which the arbitral tribunal has to decide.
Conclusion
The nature of international commercial arbitration has a close connection to the party autonomy,
which is also expressed in the right of the parties to choose the law that is to be applied by the
arbitrators to the dispute between them. The same right is given to the parties concerning the
arbitration agreement.
Firstly, the choice of law applicable to the substance of the dispute which the parties have made can be
either express or implied and if such choice took place the arbitrators have to apply it. Without any
indications concerning choice of applicable law, an arbitral tribunal has to determine such law through
the searching of proper

Library Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
According to Metzger. M.C (2006), Academic Libraries continually adapt to the technological
advances and administrative challenges that follow . The staff plays an important role between the
information and the users. The staff being professional, or paraprofessional should possess the
knowledge of online databases, knowledge of all web features etc. Besides that, the systems may get
updated, replaced regularly and hence learning new or upgraded online resources must be an integral
part of every position in the library (Eells. L.L, Jaguszewski, J.M, 2008). I would like to take
Academic libraries as the Library setting.
There are many disadvantages that arise when the Librarians are not aware of the technical knowledge
in the academic libraries. In 1994, though there are computers, Librarians used to function without the
basic understanding of computers in the campuses. The presence of the internet on campus was not
supported by training programs or manuals. Along with the technological advancements, Library staff
came to know the importance of adapting themselves to technology. ... Show more content on

Analysis Of The Novel A Short Story
Short stories often present the single experience of a character or set of characters where its climax is
marked by a moment of crisis, either in a literal or more emotional and spiritual sense. Unlike the
novel, a short story does not provide the full details of the circumstances or backstory of the situation
at hand, nor does it allow the reader to develop an in depth relationship with these characters. Despite
its condensed form, the short story can possess layers of subtexts and a sort of narrative ambiguity
where pressure is placed on the reader to make something of these literary texts. To make sense of
these subtexts, the reader should pay particular attention to the narrative voice being utilized because
the narrator has the ability to influence how a reader may respond to a literary text by setting up a
perspective from which the reader sees it. To get a thorough analysis of a short story, the reader must
analyze its narrator because the text s character is developed from the degree to which and the manner
in which that identity is indicated in the text, and the choices that are implied (Bal 19). Evidence
suggests that the experience a reader may get from a short story is mostly dependent upon how that
story is presented. Mieke Bal refers to this as focalization, where the relation between who perceives
and what is perceived colors the story with subjectivity (8). For instance, the psychology behind the
supposed lovers behavior in D.H. Lawrence s

In creating a better value proposition always think about your customers first. Take a hard look at your
market and research your market objectively asking this question, what value are you bringing to the
market, and for your customers? Craft a value proposition, then take what you ve learned and do
something with it by measuring what works, and what doesn t work.
A necessary master plan for sustainability and growth is a diverse and organizational strategy. Nokia,
the leading consumer mobile phone producer needs to take the next step towards dominate the global

strategy! Competition influences diversification, diversification is a direct result of competition. This
can occur at many different levels Competitors in the same space can offer the same product at

Art is used as a way to express oneself and share stories or emotions with others. Every person goes
through a swing of emotions and events throughout their life. Everyone chooses a different way to
deal with these event and emotions. Some may not feel comfortable expressing themselves and keep
to themselves, while others may be very outspoken. For artist they portray this emotion in their works.
Among artists they also each have their own way of expressing themselves. Each artist has their own

Themes In Twelfth Night
Understanding Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is one of his most beloved plays. There are several notable themes that
construct the play that makes twelfth night a great play. Many elements within the play take on what it
was like during Shakespeare s time, while others talk about political commentary. The play talks about
the main character Viola and her disguise as a man, while looking for her brother Sebastian. Her
disguise creates a lot of misperception; many would say Twelfth Night shines light on sexuality;
however it is the reader s exploration into Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, in which they will explore the
many possible truths and understanding of the play. Exploring the themes of gender identity, love,
madness and death, readers will have a better understanding the play an how each of the themes
connect.
Shakespeare s play has allowed for many readers and scholars to speculate its deeper meanings. The
play itself focuses on Viola s disguise as a man that ends up causing confusion and unwanted love.
Yet, it s the only way Viola can find her brother. Some could say that when Olivia falls for Viola
(Cesario), Viola have questioned herself because Oliva was so in love with Cesario, even though she
tells Olivia, bluntly that she cannot fall in love with her.(). This is strange for Shakespeare to have a
woman playing a man, since in his time all the men would play the women roles and it was perfectly
normal. One can imagine during

The Death Ratio And Crash
Maybe you re afraid of snakes being on your plane? Nah, Im just kidding. Do you know what causes
plane crashes? Small things such as birds, wind, and weather can take a 430 ton airplane to the
ground, yet statistics actually show that air travel is the safest way to travel. In the following research
paper the reader will learn how plane crashes happen and how they can be prevented. The death ratio
and crash ratio both have descended over the following 20 years. There are thousands of car fatalities
each year, along with deaths. You have a one in one million chance to crash while being present on an
plane. Statistics? Or in other words facts. These are the things that we lean on in life. If something has
good credibility or statistics, then its the way to go. Plane crashes can frighten you even if you re not
on board. In fact, we live in an era where plane travel is the safest and quickest way to travel. Just last
year, 2014 had the lowest amount of plane deaths. The Year 1972 had the highest crash ratio. Planes
have advanced since then and now are more efficient and safer. In 2014 there were only 761 plane
fatalities.Statistics show that six percent of plane crashes were weather related during the 2000 s.
Another twenty percent of plane crashes statistics says that crashes during the 1970 s were mechanical
issues. Also, 34 percent of plane crashes were pilot errors during the 2000 s. In 1950, three percent of
plane fatalities were sabotaged. Believe it or not , plane

Compare And Contrast The Help And Remember The Titans
How do Boaz Yakin and Tate Taylor depict historical content to develop the theme of racism in
Remember the Titans and The Help in similar and different ways? Introduction Remember the Titans
is a 2000 American sports film directed by Boaz Yakin, set in Alexandria, Virginia. The film is based
on the true story in 1971 of African American coach Herman Boone. Set in the time during
segregation, he tries to integrate a racially divided school football team putting the fundamentals of
footballs great tradition to the test. In contrast The Help is a 2011 American period drama film,
directed by Tate Taylor, based on the best selling novel of the same name, written by Kathryn Stocket.

In Remember the Titans we witness Coach Boone fighting for civil rights, signifying the image of an
outsider integrating into a foreign white team as their coach. Director Boaz Yakin, uses techniques to
strengthen Coach Boone s character where the initial hate and disrespect towards him succours the
development of a meaningful arc. The disrespect and aggression is employed when a brick is thrown
through his house window, threatening him with the derogatory coloured comments calling him Coach
Coon . The pressure of quitting was not felt and heroically he encompasses the journey with Yakin
emphasising Boones evocative discipline and determination forcing integration amongst the
segregated football team. This technique is employed when we witness Coach Boone stepping up,
pushing equality for the players in a determined strike to stop racial abuse for good. His actions
initiate the forced building of friendship and acceptance when he forces both races to get to know and
accept each other at the camp. Yakin heightens the themes of overcoming racism when Boone rallies
the troops together to support their team mate during a sad time. Instinctively, the implicit segregation
is evoked further bringing unity to the team, Coach Boone emerges as a hero to both the coloured and
white community. Similarly, The Help s Aibileen, initially reluctant, puts her life at risk to tell her
stories; as she does she builds up her courage, feeling compelled to express

Chaparral Biome Research Paper
The Chaparral Biome is known by various different names due to the variety of locations it is situated
in around the globe. It is often referred to as the California woodland and grasslands because of it s
exclusivity on the Californian coasts in North America, and also known as the Mediterranean Biome
due to the large areas surrounding parts of the Mediterranean Sea. The chaparrals located in California
are situated in the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, which span across to the Pacific Ocean, and cover
up to peaks at 5,000 feet above sea level. Hence, due to its location the climate is often hot and dry in
the summer, and often cold and rainy in the winter. Additionally, these abiotic factors affect the biotic

are quite common in this biome. The plants and animals of the chaparral biome have come to depend
on the occasional wildfires as a means of sowing seeds for plants and limiting competition from the
larger and bolder animals. Plants rely on the fires not only to open seed pods and disperse them but
also to keep the soil fertilized. Similarly, smaller animals rely on the fire to suppress larger
competitors from conquering over their ecological niche. Thus, in order to adapt to these conditions

Over the past thirty years, Keith has become an advocate of servant leadership. According to his
website, Keith focuses on aiding to others and has a mission to help people find personal meaning in
the world. In one of his most recent publications, The Case for Servant Leadership, Keith highlights
the servant leadership model while explaining how and why it can be used in order to establish a
better world.
In The Case for Servant Leadership, author Dr. Kent M. Keith proposes that servant leadership is the
most beneficial wholesome for a leadership model. Keith presents that the power leadership model
does more harm than good, lacks problem solving, fails to grasp opportunities, and does not have the
intention to create a better world unlike the service leadership model.
Keith emphasizes that the servant leadership model derives from the desire to serve and is a natural,

Importance of Intercultural Communication to Ist
Chapter 4 The Deep Structure of Culture
Introduction
Our interpretation of reality determines how we define the world and how we interact in that world.
We believe the source of how a culture views the world can be found in its deep structure. It is this
deep structure that unifies and makes each culture unique.
Meaning of the Deep Structure of Culture
Although many intercultural communication problems occur on the interpersonal level, most serious
confrontations and misunderstandings are as a result of cultural differences that go to the basic core of
what it means to be a member of one culture or another.
Cultural collisions are evident worldwide e.g. ethnic violence in Africa, clashes between Hindus and
Muslims in both India ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether it is the Eightfold Path, the Ten Commandments, or the Five Pillars of Islam, the messages of
these writings survive.
Each generation is given the wisdom, traditions and customs that make a culture unique. However,
one needs to be aware of the fact that often deep seated hatreds that turn one culture against another
also endure.
iii) Deep Structure Institutions and their Messages are Deeply Felt
The content generated by these institutions, and the institutions themselves, arouse deep and emotional
feelings. Think for a moment about the violent reactions that can be produced by taking God s name in
vain.
Countries and religious causes have been able to send young men to war, and politicians have
attempted to win elections by arousing people to the importance of God, country, and family.
Regardless of a person s culture, the deep structure of that culture is something people feel intensely
about.
iv) Deep Structure Institutions Supply Much of Our Identity
We are not born with an identity and of the most important responsibilities of any culture is to assist
its member in forming their identities. Through countless interactions we discover who we are. We
learn our identities through socialization. Charon.
Remember that socialization takes place in the family. As you come in contact with other people, you
begin to develop a variety of identities.

Exercise is an important health behavior because it keeps the cardiovascular system working properly.
This system provides nutrients to the body, carries away waste, and helps to fight disease. A healthy
diet helps keep the digestive system working properly. The mouth, esophagus, stomach, and large and
small intestines work together to help the body get the energy it needs. The mouth, esophagus, and
stomach break down the food, the small intestines absorbs the nutrients and energy into the
bloodstream and the rest of the undigested food goes to the large intestines and is passed out of the
body. Another healthful behavior is medicine if it is used properly. Medicine that is used properly is
medicine that is used for preventing disease, vaccines, fighting pathogens, managing chronic
conditions, and relieving pain. If you are using these medicines without these health issues then you
are misusing them. Misuse of medicine can be dangerous and can lead to serious health problems

The Negative Impact Of Globalization
Intro Globalization has been a controversial topic, does it have a negative impact or positive impact
internationally. This essay will first discuss the effects of globalization on the international system.
Secondly, the essay will examine realism and how this theory explains globalization. Lastly, this essay
will discuss how realism is a tool that effectively explains the issue of globalization.
Globalization
Globalization is a system to exercise and distribute power; it s a winner and loser system. Levels of
globalization vary as well how a country benefits from the system. The process of globalization is
mostly seen in terms of economic globalization; however, there are other aspects of it that impacts
international security and the meaning of power. There are three dimensions to economic
globalization: globalization of labor, globalization of production, and the globalization of finance.
Globalization of labor is the integration of national labor markets due to the increase of mobility
(Kegley, 244). Globalization of production refers to how multiple countries produced different parts to
complete the product. Corporations have supply chains in different countries. Both labor and
production globalization cause goods to be produced by people working in different parts of the world
instead of it being produced locally by the locals (Kegley, 2014). Offshoring of jobs is a complaint of

curries. It is believed that curry was introduced to China from Singapore or Malaysia. China s most
popular curry dish is curry noodles or curry mee.
What may be surprised to know is that Japanese Curry is one of the most popular dishes in Japan.
Curry was introduced to Japan by the British, around 1868, after Japan ended its policy of isolation.
Japan s Army and Navy can be contributed to spreading the popularity of curry. The army and navy
adopted it extensively as convenient field and naval canteen cooking. The Japan Maritime Self
Defense Force traditionally has curry every Friday for lunch. Ships may have their own unique recipe,
but Kare Raisu is a typical canteen style dish that would be served and is made up of a brown curry
sauce with raisins, generally served with rice. Curry seasoning is commonly sold in the form of a
condensed brick that dissolves into the mixture of meat and vegetables. This form of curry can be
found in many U.S. grocery stores. The standard curry found in Japan contains onions, carrots,
potatoes and a meat that is cooked in a large pot. Japanese curry is more of a stew like consistency.
Pork and beef are the most popular meats in curry followed by Chicken. In northern and Eastern Japan
you tend to see more pork based curry. Beef is more common in western Japan.

Enterprise Rent a Car Essay
1 0 SUMMARY Jack Taylor began his business of Enterprise Rent A Car in 1962 in St. Louis,
Missouri. Following the successfully philosophy of, Take care of your customers and employees first,
and profits will follow , Enterprise grew steadily to become the nation s largest rent a car company.
What separated Enterprise from its other competitors such as Hertz, Avis, and Alamo was the fact that
the company focused on two segments of the home city market rather than appealing to the airport
rental market. The first market was the replacement market that targeted towards local customers in
the Enterprise neighbourhood locations who needed rental cars as replacements while their cars were

These customers value both low cost and excellent customer service. Providing both generates both
branch loyalty and advertisement through word of mouth. On the other hand, business require the

entire transportation to a rental company. In this situation, businesses seek excellent service that
integrates with their own operation successfully as well. By providing this service without disrupting
their business dealings, companies are able to lower their costs by eliminating the ownership and
maintenance costs of their own vehicles. In this way, both the individual consumer and the business
customer have the same basic factors motivating their decision, but with very different reasons for
doing so. By looking at the customer analysis, it is apparent how Enterprise has tailored its services to

Spotting any of the symptoms above, is one of the quickest and effective ways for a concussion to be
diagnosed by a person trained to spot these symptoms. Although many of these symptoms, don t

concussions, have been developed to better identify the injury, making it easier to diagnose and treat

completely losing consciousness, many athletes experience a momentary state of confusion or
disorientation after being hit in the head.( Bell Ringers are concussions , 2016) This type of hit to the
head is known as a bell ringer ; these types of hits can prove to be even more dangerous and hazardous

The Dogon s Story Of The Ancient Astronauts
Ancient Astronauts were believed to have helped the Egyptian civilization construct the great
Pyramids. The charlatan Erich von Daniken proposed this idea in 1970 and made millions through
book selling and movie rights. In his book, he explained that the primitive Egyptians were not smart
enough to have built the pyramid by themselves, and that the feat. would have required enormous man
power and ingenuity which he believed the Egyptians lacked. Through elimination, Daniken
concluded that the only possibility of the existence of the Pyramid must stem from the aid offered by
an advanced civilization, the Ancient Astronauts, who suddenly sprung up the Pyramid from thin air.
Such argument is fundamentally flaw as Daniken ignored the entire history ... Show more content on

Robert Temple claimed that the tribe possessed incredible knowledge about the Sirius systems and
they even shown the invisible Sirius B in their constellation map. In addition, Temple said that the
Dogon tribe told a tale of an arch that came down from the sky, known as Nonmo. From these, he
concluded that the tribe must have been visited by the Amphibians from the Sirius system. The
evidence presented are rudimentary as Temple, like Daniken, ignored the cultural significant context
of the Dogon s story. Firstly, there is nothing in Dogon s tales that depicted Nonmo as Amphibious
creatures. Secondly, the arch told means a bridge from the sky, and such arch is not unique to the
Dogon culture as similar stories are frequently found in Africa. Finally, Temple cherry picked certain
aspects of the Dogon s tales that supported his claims. In the tales, Dogon depicted two, not one,
companion stars in the Sirius System. Based on the tribe s twinness religion, all the stars depicted will
always have at least one companion star, even if it is invisible. Thus, cases of the Dogon and the
Pyramid hysteria went to depict a foundation which the charlatans have capitalized. All claims made
by Daniken and Temple, in these cases, assumed that the Ancient and the natives were incapable of
possessing abilities and knowledge that deem impressive by the Western world. With this assumption,
cultural significance and historical progression become irrelevant to the context of the claim, which

The Persian Gulf War
The war in the Persian Gulf was a war of religious favor, cruel leadership, and greed. Desert Storm or

Differences Between Daoism And Confucianism
It is a well known fact that in order to survive, civilizations must change; they cannot remain stagnant
forever. These changes allow a society to grow and develop which is crucial as new breakthroughs can
lift up a civilization from a place of oppression and boundaries into a more equal and freeing place.
However, long held customs or behaviors may be persistent with the lifespan of a society. Typical
behavior can last centuries, but sometimes a small break will occur where a new change is tested out
only to be reverted back to the previous arrangement. During the time period 100 C.E. to 600 C.E

Chinese culture remained persistent as well, an ode to the structure of their political system. Because

Components Of Concrete Mix Designer
2.1 INTRODUCTION
The primary objective of every concrete mix designer is to achieve the desired hardened properties of
concrete in the most economical way. This aim can be fulfilled if the various concrete ingredients are
relatively proportioned to yield an optimized result. In order to comply with ACI recommendations,
strength tests are usually performed between 7 and 28 days after the concrete has been placed. This is
time consuming and also experimental errors are inevitable because the right amount of mix needed to
achieve the desired result is an iterative process. This is due to the non linear relationship between
concrete and its mix ingredients
(C. Deepa et al. 2001). In order to reduce the level of difficulty in estimating the strength of concrete
by the traditional method, researchers have proposed different data mining tools for a rapid and
reliable prediction.
This section discusses the current models which have been developed to predict the compressive
strength of concrete at the 28th day. Under this section, only six different models have been reviewed.

Behavior of Fish in an Egyptian Tea Garden Keith Douglas Behavior of Fish in an Egyptian Tea
Garden was written in 1968 and published in the Poetry of the Forties. The setting of the poem takes
place in an egyptian tea garden as presumably stated in the title. In the poem, Keith Douglas
strategically emphasizes a woman s ability to entice and seduce men with her beauty, as well as the
same woman being objectified through the usage of structure, language and style. To begin, the first
stanza introduces the woman and further establishes the setting. A simile is used to introduce a woman
who is being admired by other men, As a white stone draws down the fish/ she on the seafloor of the
afternoon/ draws down men s glances and their cruel wish/ for love (1). The woman is representing the
white stone which draws the attention of the fish, who represent men. However, the white stone that
represents the woman is ironic because the color white usually implies innocence and purity, which is
the opposite of the woman represented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also implies how women are objectified by men. The poem has 7 stanzas with 4 lines each, showing
a sense of balancement within the poem and the speaker. However, even though the poem looks like it
follows a rhyme scheme, it does not. The first four stanzas have a rhyme scheme differing from one
another and the last three stanzas have no rhyme scheme at all. This could connect to the idea of
relationships and the idea of appearance vs. reality. In other words, a relationship might not be what it
looks like, and could question the idea of love in general. The use of structure, language and style was
effectively used throughout the poem to emphasize the objectification of women and their ability to
seduce men with their

to sharing proprietary information? Will my shadow for advancement be over whelming to the point I
will have a lapse in my judgment or in my character and hire this guy for my personal gain? Does the

Nathan and Anatole got into a fight about the differing religious beliefs between the Price family and

Nathan, the Europeans see themselves as superior. They see the people of Africa as slaves to do their

Basically with all these countries trading with and long distances these trading routes begin to link
from the Mediterranean to Central Asia and part of East Asia best becoming known as the Silk Road
which in those times was used by many countries starting with the Parthians a ruling Dynasty from
Iran.
Furthermore while the Silk Road progress many countries begin to trade fruits medicines metals

China and many Asian products were in Persia so naturally many countries were able to acquire things
that they had never seen before from another country so people were able to have those rare that were
so rare before the invention of the Silk Road. Also the invention brought better communication
between those countries in which they didn t really have before the Silk Road because of the long

Piercy is overly describing the emotions and desires the woman is feeling to appeal to the reader.
Perhaps the stronger hyperbole in Piercy s piece is comparing the burning of the food to war. Piercy
states that burning dinner is not incompetence but war (22). So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs from
Americans is riddled with hyperbole. To start, Baca utilizes hyperbole in describing the jobs being
stolen. He over exaggerates how Mexicans are doing it, and he simplifies the American response.
Baca also uses hyperbole to describe the murder of America s youth. He states that they never gave the
children an chance to live (41) and that the rich want to let them die (43). The hyperbole in Baca s
piece is stronger for three reasons. First, both Americans and Mexicans relate to it more. Baca uses
specific vocabulary to appeal to Americans such as ese gringo (3) and clean suited farmers (26); both
of which appeal to Americans desire to blame someone other than themselves. Baca also uses specific
imagery to appeal to Mexicans. His description of the American leader and depicting a woman
working all day long in the fields (29) are things that relate to Mexicans. Second, the Hyperbole is
more concrete. Emotions and desires are as fickle as the wind. However jobs and money are typically
concrete and don t change radically. Finally and most importantly, the hyperbole used by Baca, elicits
more emotion than that used by Piercy. While Piercy

Documentation, it is imperative in nursing. This is clear from Dion(2001)as referred to in Owen

you could snuggle anytime you wanted, or needed. I adored him, I cared for him, more than a child
warmly loves their parents. Who am I speaking of, you might ask? Who s the knight in shining armor i
m speaking so highly of? Of course, my dear older brother. He was all I ever wanted, and needed,
more than I would deserve. I lived like a carefree princess, until, that, came to a sputtering stop. I
never thought of him the same way. It was a tranquil day, in my cozy household. I was listening to the
mellow, and soft sound of the faint cracking of my ignited fireplace. The smell of cherry like oak,
mixed with buttery, pumpkin spiced bread stuffed the air. I was snug in a wool blanket, my fingers
heated on a hearty chunk of a toasted loaf. I was blissfully plucking tiny chunks, and chewing it with
glee. Awaiting my big sibling to arrive from home, I was jumpy, and impatient. *Creak, bmph* My
ears perked up, and I quickly dived out of my comfort area. My eyes darted to glare at the door, which
was obviously being opened. A tiny crack appeared, and my ears

Psychological Concepts In The Lion King
The movie The Lion King demonstrates exceeding amounts of psychological concepts, theories and
principles as shown in the movie. There is a few of which we talked about in class that takes place
during the movie in which will be stated below, even though there are tons more that could be talked
about. The creators of the film knew what they were doing when they were putting together the
animation movie, sliding in all the psychological concepts as possible in a little childs film. When a
child is watching the movie they do not think about, or even know any of the concepts/theories on
what is going on. These are things such as the prosocial behavior, guilt/shame,
extraversion/introversion, and Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory of Personality, ... Show more content on

Mufasa was the brother that was more extroverted, he had the throne, the strength, and all the good
looks. Throughout the scenes in the movie you could see Mufasa had a personality of someone that
was a strong, proud, and the dominant ruler of his kingdom. He was willing to protect his kingdom
prepared to fight when he thought Scar had challenged him. He did all of that until his death, dying
when recusing Simba from the stampede of wildebeest. He puts his trust into his brother who very
easily betrayed him. Scar was the more introverted brother, he was much smarter than Mufasa, but
didn t have the looks, and his longing for the throne made him very deceptive. He produced the plan to
at first kill his nephew, and then his brother. The first plan to kill Simba was by tricking him into going
out into the elephant graveyard to be attacked and eaten by the hyenas. When that didn t work he came
up with the plan to kill Mufasa by not actually having to do it himself, giving the hyenas instructions
when to create the stampede in which he had placed Simba right down in the middle of, knowing
Mufasa would try to save him, because that is his son. These two brothers were very different Scar had
a dark side going on while Mufasa was more of the bright light. One could say the message is that it it
is brawn over brains which gets you money, power, and respect in the world we are living in

Romeo And Juliet Narrative Voice Essay
Consider the narrative voices in Michelle and in Romeo and Juliet Act 1, Scene 5, Lines 44 53. In both
cases, a male character is expressing his enthusiastic response of affection to a female character. What
do these sources when considered together say about how males first express their romantic feelings.
Michelle is written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Michelle is a love ballad about a man who is
expressing his feelings to a female, but has to speak another language because, she does not speak
English. Similarly, Romeo, in William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet, expresses his ardent
emotions of affection upon laying his eyes on Juliet for the first time. His admiration brims over and it
exposes how he believes that Juliet is more alluring than more luminous that ... Show more content on

The narrative voice in Michelle produces an insight into the male character s thoughts as he conveys
his emotions by saying, Sont les monts qui vont tres bien ensemble ,(Doc. 1). The young man s
commentary communicates his emotion by saying in French that we would be good together, when he
says tres bien ensemble . Similarly, in Shakespeare s play, Romeo depicts Juliet as, ... Beauty too rich
for use, for earth too dear... , (Romeo and Juliet 1.5.47). Romeo is taking a deep examination of his
feelings and expressing them verbally when he say that even the Earth can not contain such beauty
and he also says that her beauty is so much that he should not sleep with her. Romeo also depicts Juliet
as true beauty when he exclaims, For I ne er saw true beauty till this night , (1.5.53). Romeo is saying
that all the women that he has ever slept with or have even seen, Juliet has been the most exquisite and
radiant of them

The Success Of An Overseas Business Venture
When a company is conducting business internationally, understanding the culture of the country or
region, it is doing business with, as well as making sure the business fits the culture where it is doing
business, is extremely important. Not understanding the culture could mean that the product or service
affects the competitiveness, marketing, and could even have some political ramifications. An
understanding of the country s language, attitudes and beliefs, religion, material culture, social
education, legal characteristics, and political structures can have a positive impact on the success of an
overseas business venture. In order to run a successful international business, a business manager must
also become a student of culture and diversity. Before choosing a global market to sell a product or
service, a company needs to make sure that the product or service is a good fit for the culture. It is
important to know if the product or service is something that the culture of the country would need or
want. As an example, if a company sells cowboy hats, they are not likely to be very successful in a
country where the culture and religion requires the people to wear turbans. Knowing the culture and
its religions is important when choosing a country for as a global market. To be successful, a company
will want to know that its product or service will sell, and being successful in the United States does
not necessarily mean that a product or service will do well in other

It is very important when using big words that they are used appropriately and do not change the content of what is being written. A writer needs to use caution when picking big words. If the reader has trouble understanding the words used then what the writer is trying to say gets lost. Some may also say that using big words makes the writer look pompous. There is a very fine line between using the precise word, and using a word that sounds important. It is more important to select the precise word to describe a situation, than to settle on another word that just doesn t convey the same feeling. • 5. Analysis Of The Novel A Short Story Short stories often present the single experience of a character or set of characters where its climax is marked by a moment of crisis, either in a literal or more emotional and spiritual sense. Unlike the novel, a short story does not provide the full details of the circumstances or backstory of the situation at hand, nor does it allow the reader to develop an in depth relationship with these characters. Despite its condensed form, the short story can possess layers of subtexts and a sort of narrative ambiguity where pressure is placed on the reader to make something of these literary texts. To make sense of these subtexts, the reader should pay particular attention to the narrative voice being utilized because the narrator has the ability to influence how a reader may respond to a literary text by setting up a perspective from which the reader sees it. To get a thorough analysis of a short story, the reader must analyze its narrator because the text s character is developed from the degree to which and the manner in which that identity is indicated in the text, and the choices that are implied (Bal 19). Evidence suggests that the experience a reader may get from a short story is mostly dependent upon how that story is presented. Mieke Bal refers to this as focalization, where the relation between who perceives and what is perceived colors the story with subjectivity (8). Director Boaz Yakin, uses techniques to strengthen Coach Boone s character where the initial hate and disrespect towards him succours the development of a meaningful arc. The disrespect and aggression is employed when a brick is thrown through his house window, threatening him with the derogatory coloured comments calling him Coach Coon . The pressure of quitting was not felt and heroically he encompasses the journey with Yakin emphasising Boones evocative discipline and determination forcing integration amongst the segregated football team. His actions initiate the forced building of friendship and acceptance when he forces both races to get to know and accept each other at the camp. The charlatan Erich von Daniken proposed this idea in 1970 and made millions through book selling and movie rights. In his book, he explained that the primitive Egyptians were not smart enough to have built the pyramid by themselves, and that the feat. would have required enormous man power and ingenuity which he believed the Egyptians lacked. Through elimination, Daniken concluded that the only possibility of the existence of the Pyramid must stem from the aid offered by an advanced civilization, the Ancient Astronauts, who suddenly sprung up the Pyramid from thin air. Robert Temple claimed that the tribe possessed incredible knowledge about the Sirius systems and they even shown the invisible Sirius B in their constellation map. In addition, Temple said that the Dogon tribe told a tale of an arch that came down from the sky, known as Nonmo. From these, he concluded that the tribe must have been visited by the Amphibians from the Sirius system. The evidence presented are rudimentary as Temple, like Daniken, ignored the cultural significant context of the Dogon s story. Firstly, there is nothing in Dogon s tales that depicted Nonmo as Amphibious creatures. Secondly, the arch told means a bridge from the sky, and such arch is not unique to the Dogon culture as similar stories are frequently found in Africa. Finally, Temple cherry picked certain aspects of the Dogon s tales that supported his claims. In the tales, Dogon depicted two, not one, companion stars in the Sirius System. Based on the tribe s twinness religion, all the stars depicted will always have at least one companion star, even if it is invisible. Thus, cases of the Dogon and the Pyramid hysteria went to depict a foundation which the charlatans have capitalized. All claims made by Daniken and Temple, in these cases, assumed that the Ancient and the natives were incapable of possessing abilities and knowledge that deem impressive by the Western world. With this assumption, cultural significance and historical progression become irrelevant to the context of the claim, which made it easier to jump to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Differences Between Daoism And Confucianism It is a well known fact that in order to survive, civilizations must change; they cannot remain stagnant forever. These changes allow a society to grow and develop which is crucial as new breakthroughs can lift up a civilization from a place of oppression and boundaries into a more equal and freeing place. However, long held customs or behaviors may be persistent with the lifespan of a society. Typical behavior can last centuries, but sometimes a small break will occur where a new change is tested out only to be reverted back to the previous arrangement. • 28. Components Of Concrete Mix Designer 2.1 INTRODUCTION The primary objective of every concrete mix designer is to achieve the desired hardened properties of concrete in the most economical way. This aim can be fulfilled if the various concrete ingredients are relatively proportioned to yield an optimized result. In order to comply with ACI recommendations, strength tests are usually performed between 7 and 28 days after the concrete has been placed. This is time consuming and also experimental errors are inevitable because the right amount of mix needed to achieve the desired result is an iterative process. This is due to the non linear relationship between concrete and its mix ingredients (C. Deepa et al. 2001). In order to reduce the level of difficulty in estimating the strength of concrete by the traditional method, researchers have proposed different data mining tools for a rapid and reliable prediction. This section discusses the current models which have been developed to predict the compressive strength of concrete at the 28th day. Under this section, only six different models have been reviewed. 2.2 Artificial Neural Network An artificial neural network (ANN), which is often called a neural network, is a mathematical model inspired by biological neural networks. The setting of the poem takes place in an egyptian tea garden as presumably stated in the title. In the poem, Keith Douglas strategically emphasizes a woman s ability to entice and seduce men with her beauty, as well as the same woman being objectified through the usage of structure, language and style. To begin, the first stanza introduces the woman and further establishes the setting. A simile is used to introduce a woman who is being admired by other men, As a white stone draws down the fish/ she on the seafloor of the afternoon/ draws down men s glances and their cruel wish/ for love (1). The woman is representing the white stone which draws the attention of the fish, who represent men. This could connect to the idea of relationships and the idea of appearance vs. reality. In other words, a relationship might not be what it looks like, and could question the idea of love in general. Piercy is overly describing the emotions and desires the woman is feeling to appeal to the reader. Perhaps the stronger hyperbole in Piercy s piece is comparing the burning of the food to war. Piercy states that burning dinner is not incompetence but war (22). So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs from Americans is riddled with hyperbole. To start, Baca utilizes hyperbole in describing the jobs being stolen. He over exaggerates how Mexicans are doing it, and he simplifies the American response. Baca also uses hyperbole to describe the murder of America s youth. He states that they never gave the children an chance to live (41) and that the rich want to let them die (43). The hyperbole in Baca s piece is stronger for three reasons. First, both Americans and Mexicans relate to it more. Baca uses specific vocabulary to appeal to Americans such as ese gringo (3) and clean suited farmers (26); both of which appeal to Americans desire to blame someone other than themselves. Baca also uses specific imagery to appeal to Mexicans. His description of the American leader and depicting a woman working all day long in the fields (29) are things that relate to Mexicans. Second, the Hyperbole is more concrete. Emotions and desires are as fickle as the wind. However jobs and money are typically concrete and don t change radically. Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune 412207, India Abstract In the present work AISI 316L stainless steel samples have been welded by MIG welding. Butt joints have been made. Plate thickness is kept constant (= 3mm). Some important parameters have been varied during welding. Thus several butt welded joints have been made. Each sample of the joints has been prepared under certain combination of welding parameters. The parameters considered for variation, in the present work have been welding current, gas flow rate and nozzle to plate distance. The design of experiment has been done using L9 Taguchi design of experiment. The influence of the process parameters (mainly current, gas flow rate and nozzle to plate distance) has been examined visually and also through X ray radiographic tests. Next, samples have been cut, machined to conform to some specified dimensions for tensile testing. The quality of the weld has been evaluated in terms of ultimate strength, yield strength and percentage of elongation of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
