Navigating The Kitchens Was Surprisingly Easy
Navigating the kitchens was surprisingly easy. People were running around, focusing so much of their
attention on their own duties that they didn t even think twice about Maela and Ralan walking
through. The guild in charge of cooking was under the Harvest Guild, so green tunics and robes were
everywhere, although there was the occasional white of a knight. There were no blue merchants or
others in the yellow of the Craft Guild.
They were only stopped once, and that was by a Harvest Guild member. Ralan s explanation of broken
equipment needing fixed resulted in nothing more than a comment of Hurry up, dinner will be served
soon.
They had turned down yet another hallway when Ralan leaned over and whispered to Maela, Those
two with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The carafes shattered on the floor, covering it in glass.
You idiots! You have ruined my dress whites! Enraged, the knight turned to the two Harvest guild
members who were issuing a stream of apologies.
Maela tugged on Ralan s arm, and they briskly walked past the knight, who had completely forgotten
about them.
When they were well past the knight, Ralan whispered, Did you plan for them to escort us?
People are clumsy, she replied, not even trying to hide her smile.
The defenses here aren t very good, Ralan noted as he and Maela looked through the door of the
prison dining hall. Prisoners were actually fed in their cells, so the hall itself was more of a room for
the jailors and a large prep area for taking food to the prisoners.
Maela turned and glared at Ralan. Nothing is ever easy. Don t forget that. Without a plan you would
have been captured in the Flats, on the Circle, and in the hallway back there. Maela took a breath and
then softened her voice. But you are correct about the defenses. But what is there to defend? The
prisons are well guarded, and who would attack the Knight Tower? They continued on.
The other side of the prison kitchen dining hall opened up to hallway off of the main atrium of the
prison part of the Tower. Unlike the small, cramped kitchen halls, the halls of the Tower proper were
wide and imposing. Knights walked through them at regular intervals. Also unlike the kitchen halls,
there weren t any other guild members in the Tower

Is The American Dream Attainable Essay
The Distant American Dream Is the American Dream still attainable? Statistics have shown that over
the years children have found to succeed more than their parents did. They were able to attain higher
education and more job opportunities than the generation before. However, as the years passed by,
Americans became lazier and unmotivated to take all the opportunities presented. Money, jobs,
education, careers, and relations are all still attainable as long as the individual works for their
American Dream.. The American Dream could not exist without money to make it happen. In this
world humanity lives, in other words one must have the means to do that which one wishes. People

Men will then be seen continually to change their track for fear of missing the shortest cut to
happiness. (Tocqueville, Alexis). By not continuing the education track for a career and grasping
wildly for an easier track will bring you further and further away from the goal wanted. The dream is
like a destination. Would you take a straight path or would you take all the roads leading there? One
must have the appropriate education to achieve in the career wanted. To truly attain the American
Dream one must have the backing of family. Without their support it is a long and lonely road which
not many complete. In 1925, Fitzgerald wrote With all the glorious parties Gatsby threw no one was
there at Gatsby s funeral except his father, Nick, the butler, and the owl eyed man. (Fitzgerald) Gatsby
was truly alone through this tragic death. His end symbolized the death of every American s dream
that has been given up on or truly never had the chance. Through hard work and dedication the
American Dream may still be attainable. The dream of all Americans is a crucial thread in the country
s tapestry woven through politics, music and culture. This thread is what gives all humanity the drive
to excel in anyway possible. Money ,jobs, education, careers, and relations will help Americans work
towards the dream they have built for

Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study
A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered
that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The
discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve
tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain
development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of
destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way
for the development of stronger and more effective synapses.
A growing fusiform gyrus
This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called
fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most
changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic pruning or
tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical
development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults.
They were subjected to visual recognition tests of faces and places and functional magnetic resonance
and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests.
Functional magnetic resonance imaging was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the observations suggest that cortical tissue proliferation is taking placing. Subsequent
examination of postmortem brains validated Gomez team s observations. The findings are coherent
with the previous observations that adults tend to recognize faces better than children. Neuroscientist

through life, additional neurological facilities for facial processing become a

Wearable Wearability Research Paper
Although physiological signals, such as an increase in temperature and blood pressure, are not
traditionally considered an input channel within computer science, computers are gradually moving
beyond the desktop and reaching closer contact with our bodies. An affective wearable a wearable
computer equipped with physiological sensors and pattern recognition is designed to perceive and
respond to the wearer s affective state. Affective states are determined by certain patterns; one pattern
would be a change in nervous system activity, such as an increase in heart rate. While most wearables
today are designed as bands around our wrists, these miniature flexible electrodes can be attached to
jewelry or sewn into our clothes. Indeed, people are already in physical contact with many things that
could be augmented with sensors (Picard).

Edward Taylor
Edward Taylor, he was a true colonial writer and one of the state of the art Minister s. He
accomplished a great deal of things in his life, he had many children, and wrote many many volumes
on topics only he really enjoyed. Edward Taylor was born near the lovely town of Leicestershire,
England and he was a very educated individual, and believe it or not but this man was a Puritan. His
theology was a bear resemblance to that of his Boston contemporary Michael Wigglesworth rather
than Solomon Stoddard, a minister at Northampton. Taylor was a strict Congregationalist, he opposed
the Plan of Union between Congregational and Presbyterian churches. Little do we know of Taylor s
early life, the date and exact place of his birth are uncertain, he did leave England only because he felt
unable to hew to the Act of Uniformity. When he left England he went to America in 1668 where he
chased the career path of becoming a member of the Ministry.
While he was a Writer he was also Minister, and that is what he did with most of his time, he became a
devoted minister in a village called Westfield, and that is where he spent the remainder of his days. In

early christian exegesis. Taylor used a similar cluster themes in all of his work, may it be meditation, a

The Crime Of A Victimless Crime
A victimless crime is a term used to refer to actions that have been made illegal but which do not
directly violate or threaten the rights of any other individual. It often involves consensual acts or
solitary acts in which no other person is involved. Such acts would not lead to any person calling for
help from the police. Therefore, many people will argue that drug dealing, use, and abuse is a
victimless crime, but they are wrong. We have to ask ourselves what makes a crime a crime? We know
that crime is an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and
is punishable by law. However, it also consists of actions that cause harm. With harm, there are in fact
victims, although the harm may not be directly implied to just one person, there still victims that are
infected by the crime. With the topic of drugs , we have to examine the types of harm that this act
inflicts. The three types of harm that is caused by drug dealing, use and abuse are individual, social and
economic harm. People who sell drugs such as cocaine, meth, heroin and other opiates are most
defiantly committing a violent act. They are delivering an substance of destruction to another person.
Even though drug users demand the substance they are still being victimized. Not everyone who uses
hard drugs becomes addicted, but millions do.There is a reason certain substances are categorized as
dangerous drugs. There are many ways people could argue that drug using is the

Rick Ames And His Crimes Against The CIA
Aldrich Rick Ames was born in River Falls, Wisconsin on June 26th, 1941. Like most children, his
childhood did not reveal a disposition for betrayal and apathy, but rather held promise. I chose to learn
about Ames and his crimes against the CIA because of the relationship he had with both them and the
KGB. The CIA is frequently described as becoming another family for the men and women operating
within its power. Ames however, not only forsaked the agency s secrets to the KGB, but continued to
work for both agencies without hesitation. None of his colleagues, nor the the CIA s effort to protect
the nation as a whole held value for him. What s more startling than the fact that Rick doesn t regret
what he s done, is the that the close knit

How To Replace A Roof
Addressing roof problems
Tips on how to determine whether it is best to repair damage or replace entire roof
When it comes to doing home improvements, homeowners have to make good decisions in order to
meet with success without injuring themselves or messing up their homes. This is especially true for a
job that involves doing something to the roof. Whether the job is repairing damaged areas or installing
a new roof, hiring an Austin roofing professional is one of the best decisions that homeowners can
make, and that is because such a professional will have the necessary skills to complete all the work
safely and efficiently. Furthermore, homeowners will have less pressure on their shoulders and more
time to devote to other important matters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only downside is that the new shingles may not match the ones already on the roof, but that
matters little if the goal is to shore up the roof so that it will last for years to come. If homeowners are
looking to put their homes on the market, then perhaps the best course of action is to have a
professional contractor order the right type of shingles for the patch job. Potential buyers tend to zero
in on the condition of homes, looking for anything that is out of place.
If the damage happens to be so extensive that a patch job would not be enough, then homeowners
ought to let a professional contractor install a new roof. This option, depending on the size of the
home, will be rather costly, but it goes without saying that putting in a new roof will prove worthwhile
in the long run as there many benefits to

Unconditional Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel
Elie Wiesel published Night in 1955. This book is his testimony to the awful situations he and millions
of others had to encounter. Eliezer is a devout Jew at a young age. His conviction is flipped upside
down when the Nazis enter his life, and he believes God walked out. He does not understand God s
calmness during this tragedy. He demands answers but is met with silence. In Night, Wiesel uses
Eliezer to depict how his unconditional faith is shaken down to nonexistence during the Holocaust.
Before Eliezer s living nightmare reigns down, he is dedicated to his religion. At twelve years old, he
spends his time strengthening his beliefs: By day I studied Talmud and by night I would run to the
synagogue to weep over the destruction of the Temple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing his fellow Jews executed makes Eliezer feel his God died with them: Never shall I forget those
moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes (Wiesel 34). Eliezer s
own personal hell is eliminating all of what he stood for. While other prisoners talk about God, Eliezer
turns his cheek: As for me, I had ceased to pray... I was not denying His existence, but I doubted his
absolute justice (Wiesel 45). He does not question God s entity, but he does His morals. He thinks why
pray when no one is listening. During one of the hangings, another prisoner inquires about God s
presence. Eliezer thinks to himself, Where He is? This is where hanging here from this gallows
(Wiesel 65). He refers to God being murdered again hanging there with the innocent. In Frunza s
article, she illustrates, Is it not about God s silence and like Wiesel s other works, it is not about God s
total absence or death. It is about humanity ... committing against one another, about the Jew and
Israel s suffering (100). Eliezer needs to target his anger toward the ones carrying out the inhuman
acts. God will sometimes answer prayers in ways that are not seen. He will not always respond to one
s terms but to His own. That does not mean He is not there. God needs to know one has complete trust
in Him, and Eliezer fails in that test. During the Rosh Hashanah service, he still questions why he
should worship:

Analysis Of Angela Carters Nights At The Circus
Angela Carters, Nights at the Circus, opens avenues to various interpretations, Most of which deal
with themes based on Feminism and Magical Realism. This article deals with an essential aspect of
the human psyche, Individuation. A term coined by Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and
psychotherapist. To comprehend Individuation in a nut shell, it is a psychological progress that
involves a holistic process of one s physical and mental growth. This process is more of a conscious
progress. To attain this state, ones inner thought and psyche is drawn out from the personal and the
collective unconscious. Individuation runs parallel to transformation, initially it begins unconsciously

Dog Training Advice And College Study Advice
Teaching a dog to lay down seems different than studying for a Biology exam, but online advice on
both topics are surprisingly similar. Both dog training advice and college studying advice include the
need for consistency, frequency, and repetition, along with using both types of reinforcement. Despite
these similarities, dogs and students differ in what they are learning and how exactly they show that
they have learned. Advice to college students and dog trainers are comparable in fundamental ways;
their methods and reactions to conditioning are similar but what exactly the person or dog is learning
can make it seem as if the two types of advice have very little in common. Studying and dog training
advice both include the need for frequency, consistency, and repetition. The ASPCA (n.d.) states that,
once a dog has learned a trick, trainers should regularly test the dog throughout the day to ensure the
dog remembers how to perform it. Dogs also learn quicker when using the same phrases each training
session, such as using only lay down for a command versus mixing it with get down . Finally, the
ASPCA also recommends that training sessions should be kept relatively short; trainers should only
practice a new trick five to fifteen times before switching to a previously learned trick ( Training Your
Dog ). Dog training advice is fundamentally based on these three ideas; frequency, consistency, and
repetition speed the rate at which a dog can learn new material.

Daft Punk Research Paper
The early days of EDM as concert attractions were off to an unsteady start with an audio/visual setup
consisting of little more than a few speakers and a film projector. Although, the shows changed and
matured with the genre, many point to Daft Punk s first appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and
Arts festival in Indio, California, in 2006 where the duo unveiled their now legendary pyramid as a
game changer. Manning a 24 foot tall aluminum pyramid of custom built supercomputers covered
with screens, Daft Punk created what many believe to be the best electronic show ever assembled, a
veritable LED infused honeycomb pulsing with music and purpose. The idea for the pyramid stage
setup came from Daft Punk s 2005 video for Technologic, which featured a little robot who chants the

The Impact of Technology
Technology, mainly computers and video games, have made a vast difference in our society. Many
years ago there were not very many forms of technology that existed. People often used type writers,
went, dancing, did puzzle, and played board games for entertainment. Nowadays, the use of computers
has become extremely popular. If an individual is not using a computer for some form on
entertainment, they are most likely using it for something along the lines of school or work.
Technology has gone from being a convenient tool to being a bad impact on society. Not only is it
insulting the intelligence of many young adults, but it is also taking away from one s social behavior.
Some people, however, disagree and think technology has made a ... Show more content on

For example, some will say that technology is very convenient and enhances knowledge. In his article,
Steven Lohr says, On average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those
receiving face to face instruction. Although this may be true for some individuals, there are a majority
of others who will argue that this statement is wrong. He also states, The real promise of online
education, experts say, is providing learning experiences that are more tailored to individual students
than is possible in classrooms. That enables more learning by doing, which many students find more
engaging and useful. This article is leaning more towards the idea that online education is a better
choice than classroom education. This idea could go both ways. It mostly depends on the preferred
learning style of the student. If the student learns better by reading the required learning material, then
he or she would probably agree that online courses are easier for them. However, if the student is a
more visual learner, then he or she may learn better by being in a classroom and being physically
taught. They may also agree that taking online courses make knowledge valueless. There are also
many individuals out there who will argue that video games have positive effects on children in our
society today. In an online article, James Robers shares that, The online video games that children play

Typography Of Media
These days, the media plays a big part in the culture of the world. The media is a powerful source that
we ve been using for years and years since technology has been invented, starting with newspapers
and television. Throughout the years, media has changed since the transition from newspapers to
television broadcasting because of the changes of entertainment and what people are into as time goes
on. In the book Amusing Ourselves to Death, Postman looks at how print culture or typography has
changed the media, how it evolved to television and what it s doing to our culture and the way that
people think. In the beginning of the book and all throughout, Postman brought up the concept of
media metaphor when talking about how the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Postman, before images were used in our everyday media, Americans were more logical
and politically engaged because they were focused more on speech and had more rational thoughts.
He says that our speech patterns were different when we printed everything, we wrote better and read
better which is why we were better thinkers. I agree to his analysis and conclusions about how
television has changed our thinking. We ve became a society that won t be persuaded unless we re
entertained or it has some kind of emotional appeal to it. Ever since televisions and printed images
came into existence, we get easily bored when something isn t captivating. This can also be a bad
thing for example, we believe things easily when it sounds good or shocking to us without logically
thinking about it. This causes us to have different perspectives thanks to how the media portrays
certain situations. I also agree with Postman when he talked about how people are less engaged
because of the media changes. One of the examples that Postman used was about the Abraham
Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas debate, it was a simple and short oral debate that lasted for 2 hours
and people sat through the whole thing without breaks. In this new media era, it s not that easy for us
to sit through long oral debates or lectures or we ll get bored because our attention span is not that
long. Since

The Process of DNA Replication Essay
The Process of DNA Replication
The process of DNA replication plays a crucial role in providing genetic continuity from one
generation to the next. Knowledge of the structure of DNA began with the discovery of nucleic acids
in 1869. In 1952, an accurate model of the DNA molecule was presented, thanks to the work of
Rosalind Franklin, James Watson, and Francis Crick. To reproduce, a cell must copy and transmit its
genetic information (DNA) to all of its progeny. To do so, DNA replicates following the process of
semi conservative replication. Two strands of DNA are obtained from one, having produced two
daughter molecules that are identical to one another and to the parent molecule. This essay reviews the
three stages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, there are many enzymes that participate in the unwinding of the old strands of DNA
molecule such as topoisomerase. This enzyme is responsible for initiation of the unwinding of the old
strands of DNA molecule. Once supercoiling has been eliminated by the topoisomerase, helicase
accomplishes unwinding of the original double strand. In order to aid with the unwinding process,
DNA gyrase catalyzes the formation of negative supercoils. The unwound helix, with each strand
being synthesized into a new double helix, is called the replication fork.
The second stage of the process is complementary base pairing. In this stage, new complementary
nucleotides are positioned following the rules of complementary base pairing: adenine (A) to thymine
(T) and guanine (G) to cytosine (C). Then, the binding of free nucleotide with complementary bases is
catalyzed by DNA polymerase.
The last stage of the process, joining, involves bonding of complementary nucleotide to each other so
as to form new strands. The nucleotides are joined to one another by hydrogen bonds to form a new
DNA molecule. This joining continues until a new polynucleotide chain has been formed alongside
the old one, forming a new double helix molecule. This stage of the process also takes place with the
assistance of enzymes. The DNA polymerase links the complementary nucleotides

Reflection On Behavior Intervention
Reflection
I do not feel that I have sufficient data to make an informed decision on the effectiveness of this
intervention for Adam. However, I would conclude that my attempt at a behavior intervention was
unsuccessful. This was due to a variety of reasons. The foremost reason being to inconsistent
application of the intervention. At times, weeks passed between trials. As we have learned,
intervention is successful when it is implemented regularly.
It was unwise to set my intervention monitoring in an environment which I have no control over and
for a small window of time, for a specific type of instruction. Instruction is not given at a set period of
time, as I had thought when collecting my baseline data. Adam s general education teacher often has
them do individual work, then moves to whole group instruction, at which point I need to leave.
Furthermore, there are a great deal of holidays during autumn, so students were often participating in
the arts, rather than math. These issues could have potentially been avoided if I had spoken to his
general education teacher about her schedule, but I did not. Further consultation could have helped
this project to be successful.
The token board may have not been the most appropriate intervention for what I was doing. I chose
this intervention because both Adam and I are familiar with it. Further, I had planned to increase the
duration overtime. My plan was, for the first week or two, I would have my student focus for one

this made the discussion interesting because they felt comfortable sharing their opinion and thoughts
about the book. I really enjoyed leading discussion because I was forced to share my opinion and
listen carefully to others in order to agree or disagree with what they said. Kevin and I met twice to
talk about what we wanted to do for our presentation. We divided up the reading between us so that
we could focus more in depth with the reading. I took ever the first half of the book and Kevin took
over the second half. I would of like for Kevin to have spoken out more and be more active in the

Moderating Effect Of Ceo Tenure And Managerial Experience...
The study examines the moderating effect of CEO tenure and managerial experience on firm specific
determinants of corporate cash holdings among private manufacturing firms in Kenya. The research
employed the upper echelons theory to identify CEO characteristics that are linked to various
organizational processes and outcomes such as cash holding. This survey based study selected a
sample of 156 private manufacturing firms from the firms registered with the KAM that are located in
Nairobi and surrounding area using stratified random sampling technique. The research collected
primary data using self administered questionnaires to gather self reported financial measures from the
CFOs. The study employed stepwise multiple regression analysis to determine the moderating effect
of CEO tenure and managerial experience on independent and dependent variables. The study
concludes that the CEO tenure significantly moderates firm size, growth opportunities, and likelihood
of financial distress as determinants of corporate cash holdings. Further, the study concludes that CEO
managerial experience in other industries significantly moderates firm size and cash flow volatility
determinants of corporate cash holdings among private manufacturing firms in Kenya.

Democracy Is A Key Component Of Today s Society
The government is a crucial component of today s society. Its existence is important for a civilized
community. Its definition includes the exertion of authority, administration of public policies, and the
direction of its members or subjects. Along with the creation of laws, a government provides the
country with infrastructure and services, and maintains a military and police force amongst other
forces on behalf of the citizens of the country. A government works fairly and with justice when there
is rule by the people. Democracy is a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people
and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving
periodically held free elections (Webster Dictionary). The utmost powerful characteristic of
democracy is that people hold the ultimate power. Democracy is a government of the people, by the
people, for the people Abraham Lincoln. A democratic government allows its citizens to manage their
government through indirective or directive procedures. Such procedures include freedom of
expression, fair and competitive elections to determine the authority for political power, and certain
restrictions on the exertion of authority. Such democratic governments choose between a presidential
system, a parliamentary system, or a hybrid system (semi presidential). These systems differ based on
how their executive, legislative, and judicial branches are organized. Along with a great impact on

Against Mandatory Vaccines
Vaccines are known for preventing disease, but could they be more dangerous than you know? Ever
since the creation of vaccines people have been arguing over whether their risks outweigh the benefits.
Supporters of vaccines believe that vaccines are safer than natural immunization and that the approval
process will eliminate all major side effects before it is released to the public. Advocates of
vaccination think that vaccines are still not safe, nor humane. They also believe that mandatory
vaccines infringe upon the freedom of people s bodies. It is also largely disputed whether vaccines
cause autism or not. While vaccines are considered safe by many, others believe that there is more to
vaccines than what we believe.

Immunization through vaccines produces the same immunity as natural infections without having to
withstand the disease itself. Some vaccines even offer a better response than contracting the disease (
The Benefits of Vaccine ). The Chickenpox vaccine has been studied a lot involving the side effects in
comparison to those of contracting the disease. A child has a .25 percent chance of being hospitalized
after catching chickenpox while they would have a .05 percent chance of minor infection after the
vaccine . While death rarely occurs from either form of immunization, it was far more likely to occur
from the infection rather than the vaccine. Of course, the risk is extremely small in both instances, but
the slight edge of chickenpox is scary enough for most parents to vaccinate their children. Shingles is
something that many people are scared of contracting as they get older. Although the chickenpox
vaccine has not been available for long enough to see how many vaccinated people develop shingles
at any point in their lives, the contraction of shingles in children post vaccine has been studied.
Shingles is 39 percent less likely to occur in children or teens who were vaccinated than those who
naturally transmitted the disease. (Moyer, Melinda Wenner). Chickenpox is just one example of a
vaccine being safer than the natural infection. Although small, the difference in risk between the two
ways of immunization is often plenty to encourage parents to vaccinate their

School Lunches And School Lunch Program
A recent study conducted in a rural K 12th grade, 300 student district, has shown the struggle in
persuading students and staff members to participate in the National School Breakfast/Lunch Program,
therefore decreasing sales. The foodservice component of the school is run by a separate foodservice
company. This is of great benefit to the school district itself because it saves many added costs in
labor, insurance, and benefits. The foodservice company has its own techniques in making school
meals fun, delicious, and nutritious by incorporating different promotions throughout the year.
Because the company s focus is foodservice, their ultimate goal is to have high sales in all locations.
This particular school district is challenging due to the low enrollment of students.
School meals provide one third to one half of a child s daily caloric intake.1 Therefore, school lunches
have a large impact on the health of children who purchase lunch or participate in the National School
Lunch Program (NSLP). The recent change in the NSLP standards gave students more availability to
fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low fat dairy products and required students to have at least one
fruit or vegetable serving on their tray in hopes that healthy eating behaviors would be increased.2
After review of this program, research shows that fruit selection increased by 23% and vegetable
consumption increased by 16.2%.3 A cross sectional observational study conducted in 12 elementary

Analysis Of Stephen A. Brighton s Article
Purpose: Stephen A. Brighton s article is primarily a portrayal of the steps that today s archeologists
are working to implement. According to the article, it is explained how archeology have changed
horizons compared to previous years. The case discussed in this article focuses on the fact that in order
for archeology to have greater impact in communities and in general, it should deviate a bit from its
merely scholar course to a more socially oriented pathway, ruled by community collaboration and
committed service to the underserved members of the community. It states that former ways of
archeology were not particularly focused on social that is why occasionally the most oppressed
members of the society were excluded and deprived of their rights. This flaw is now being improved.
Therefore, this article is aimed to expose the way modern archeology works to empower the people to
stand for their heritage and fight for social justice in spite of political policies without neglecting the
ethical guidelines of the profession. Population of Study: Brighton s article explores the field of study
of public archeology on the area of the Town of Texas in the region of Baltimore County in Maryland.
The project focuses on a specific ethnic group: the earliest settlers of the area who were mainly
emigrants from Ireland that populated the area from the last half of the 19th century to the 20th

Being A Leader Takes Great Ability. Over Many Years’ People

Being Yourself Many people get into business and feel that need to separate their lives or
compartmentalize their life from who they are at work against who they are when you are not

themselves. Having confidence that you are good enough just being yourself will help make you a
leader and someone that people would want to follow because they see you as being human and like
themselves. This concept is hard to follow by many executives because most of the knowledge and

surprising that many of these do not give the basic advice to just be yourself. Weakness and
Leadership One of the main techniques of being yourself is showing your weakness. No matter who
you are from a crossing guard to a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, everyone has a weakness. If
someone is considered to be perfect people might assume them to not need followers. It will illustrate

India Is A Land Known For Its Diversity
Introduction:
India is a land known for its diversity with respect to culture, languages, religions and cuisine. Several
dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples of these
indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on.
The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the Operation
Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy event globally and
the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of being the leading
producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country, nearly 40 50% is
converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into Indian tradition. The
processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid coagulation, heat desiccation and
fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous traditional type of fresh cheese
prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the formation of large structural
protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble solids are entrapped with whey.
The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened
unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. It
shares a few similarities with Tofu and western cottage cheese. As with the entire food industry within
the country, the

The Conversion Process
Choosing a life lived in the light of a religious tradition means many things. To some, religion is an
invitation to become a part of a rich and storied tradition; to others, religion suggests a life dedicated
to significant time focused on contemplation, prayer, and personal reflection. As an individual matures
throughout her life, whether she has been raised with or in lack of a faith tradition, she may find it
does not suit the lifestyle she desires to live. In wake of this, a choice must be made: to find a religious
tradition that suits her needs, or live in the absence of religion. Often times, it is found that if an

The Importance Of Recess In School
Think about it, when was the last time you asked a kindergartener what their favorite subject in school
is and they didn t answer recess? With increased standardized testing and rigid federal and state
requirements, most elementary students are now spending more time in the classroom than outside
playing. Most schools seem to think that recess is unimportant or a waste of time that is not needed in
a child s education. This is a very untrue statement, in fact recess is not only good for our health but it
has also had positive effects on childrens everyday learning. Around the United States researchers,

They couldn t think of time where they couldn t go out and play on the blacktop or swing on the

difference. Even though school staff are trying to improve the amount of learning endured during the
day, they are actually decreasing the quality of work by taking away recess. Most school officials are
unaware of the importance of recess. Though the effects of recces on kindergarteners and first graders
are not very significant, as they get older signs of change become more and more relevant whether its
during testing or just paying attention during class. Teachers may notice the difference but they may
not know the causes of this lack of focus. Speaking in support of more recess principal Angela Long

How Do the Different Mass of BBs Affect the Muzzle Velocity and the Kinetic Energy in a Ballistic

Introduction: As a kid I was always interested in guns and the military. I would spend my Saturdays

U.S. Marine. As I started to get older, nerf guns got boring; So I begged my parents to buy me a airsoft

After each trial I would wait for the pendulum to come to a complete stop until I fired another BB.
When it was time to switch the BBs from .20g to .25g, I did not touch the gun but I only took out the
ammunition clip. I did this because if I were to move the gun, the gun would likely line up a different
way causing there to possibly be different results. By just taking out the clip, the gun did not move,
which means the BB hit just about the same spot on the pendulum every time. Data and Calculations
BBs Trail 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4
.20g 9cm 10cm 11cm 9cm .25 g 5cm 6cm 6cm 7cm Mean of .20g BBs: 9.75cm
Mean of .25g BBs: 6cm
Because the Energy of the BB is conserved in the system after the collision, I wanted to show that. So
I used the formula .5*(mass of the BB + pendulum)*(velocity of the BB + pendulum) ² to find the
Kinetic Energy. After that I calculated the Potential Energy using (mass of the BB +
pendulum)*gravity*height by which the pendulum swung. To calculate the Velocity of the BB
combined with the pendulum I derived the equation: velocity = √2*gravity*height swung by which
the pendulum swung. I will use the average height swung by the pendulum for both mass BBs.

Negative Effects Of Social Media And Smartphones
Social media and smartphones are the new types of addiction that cannot be avoided in today s world
because it is essential for everyday use such as for communication, entertainment, and maybe a chance
to have a separate life through the apps that you chose to tap. Furthermore, the negative effects of
social media on a person s personality and characteristic is steadily increasing. For instance, most
people tends to act differently in person or when talking through social media and sometimes most of
them felt as if they are struggling to find their own identity that s why they are boosting their
confidence by copying their idols from social media. These are called the social media creatures like
the youtubers who are got famous for making contents such as videos or skits where they share it
online for everyone to watch. Which builds up a sense of eagerness for teens to strive and be like them
because they felt like they need this to keep up and be liked by other people around them since they
know that most of the people love what those youtube creatures do. That s why the creation of social
media and smartphones changed a generation s perspective on life itself. Its availability and easy
access resulted to many of the iGen group to hide their true identity. It opened a completely different
way of socialization which impacted most of today s youth. This resulted to a growth on mental issues
for, lack of face to face communication, and a rapid increase in jealousy towards others.
Mental issues such as loneliness, depression, and the feeling of being worthless have been around for
so long, as long as the beginning of humankind. But in this time period, wealth and failures in life is
not the main cause of these issues. Instead, the overuse of social media is the reason why sadness is
occuring to most teens right now. Almost every teen in their house today are in their rooms lonely and
alone while holding their phones trying to refresh if there s a new post or uploads of people they
follow. Social media gives most of the users the feeling of being isolated to the society because they
felt like they are living in a fake world while looking through other people s bio or account in their

Communistic Ideology In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Communistic Ideology in Animal Farm At fifty everyone has the face he deserves (Orwell). With
these being his last words, I believe Orwell was trying to explain that you make who you will become,
and with this there is a point of no return. In relation to communism this point is communistic rule.
This dictatorship can often be expressed differently depending on the advocate s ideas, feelings, and
views on social status. Communism, in general, was a prominent theme in the book Animal Farm.
George Orwell gives Old Major characteristics not unlike some of the most largely influential
communists. The idea of communism often involves a strong sense of individualism and selfishness
(Shaoqi). In Animal Farm we see this in the quote All animals are equal but some more than others
(Orwell 92). These ethics are strongly conveyed by Karl Marx. Karl Marx can be compared to Old
Major through their mutual ideas of unity and equality. Marx believed in a state of social equality.
[Marx] describes about his concept of a classless society... [he imagines communism] is the state of
equality among people (www.bachelorandmaster.com). Major expresses this same idea through a
similar experience. Last night... [Beasts of England] came back to me in my dream (Orwell 9). They
go on to sing Beasts of England united as one, paralleling Marx s idea of equality. Vladimir Lenin,
another influential communist, can also be compared to Old Major. Both of them were advocates for
socialism and communism but never got to actually see them go through. Let the socialist snivellers
croak, let the bourgeoisie rage and fume, but only people who shut their eyes so as not to see, and stuff
their ears so as not to hear, can fail to notice that all over the world the birth pangs of the old, capitalist
society, which is pregnant with socialism, have begun (Lenin). He never truly meant for it to progress
to a form of extreme communism, just as Old Major hadn t either. Old Major s ideas and thoughts
were different than what was carried out by some of his supporters. There were many who disagreed
with the views on extremism and wanted to expand their reign both through manipulation and
expansion.

Summary Of The Poem Slam Dunk Hook
In Yusef Komunyakaa s brilliantly written poem, Slam, Dunk, Hook , the author writes about boys
playing a game of basketball with an emotional attitude. He calls the players, beautiful and dangerous
, shows them changing throughout the poem, and uses a comma to separate the word slam from dunk
to show what the actual focus of the game is. By the end of the game, the players become more
advanced without knowing because of their determinations to get their emotions under control. In,
Slam, Dunk, Hook , the author writes about a group of boys playing a game of basketball with a lot of
emotion. The author states in line 24 26, When Sonny Boy s mama died He played nonstop all day, so
hard our backboard splintered. The players are filled with anger that is caused by all the tragedies that
keep occurring in their lives. The anger started to pile on so much that they started to play the game as
way to let out the anger instead of letting it take over their actions and lead them to act out in violence.
Another way the author shows the player s emotions in the poem, Slam Dunk, Hook is with his heavy
verb usage seen often in the poem. Line 29 31 states, Trouble was there slapping a blackjack Against
an open palm . The boys coming together for a game when they weren t at their best was the only
positive thing in their lives. The game was like an escape from reality because without it, they would
have no control over themselves with all the bad in their lives. The

What Is The Implementation Of PPP In The Compensation System
3.1.1 Implementation Mechanisms
Implementation of PPP in the liability and compensation regime is seen through adequate reference to
mechanisms such as compulsory insurance and compensation funds whereby a ship owner is required
to constitute a fund with the Court for the total limit of his liability to avail the benefit of limitation ,
and maintain compulsory insurance certified by the appropriate State authority for any ship carrying
more than 2,000 tons of oil .
3.1.2 Loss of Right to Limit Liability
There is very narrow scope for a ship owner to be exonerated from strict liability. It requires proof that
damage resulted from war or was wholly caused by an intentional act or omission of a third party or
by negligence of an authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Small Tanker Oil Pollution Indemnification Fund (STOPIA) was established to raise maximum
amount of compensation payable for small ships and the Tanker Oil Pollution Indemnification
Agreement (TOPIA) was established to indemnify the supplementary fund 50% of the compensation
amount it pays in event of an oil pollution accident.
Considering the costs of some of the biggest oil spills in history, the SF holds adequate funds to deal
with oil spills of high magnitudes; till date no incident has required compensation from the SF . The
liability and compensation provisions of the CLC and FC satisfy the main components the PPP by
allowing the victims impartial access to remedies and allocating costs of pollution damage, emergency
response and clean up to the polluters .
The abovementioned factors show that the Conventions have come a far way in achieving a perfect
balance in burden sharing among the shipping and oil industries, adapting the polluter pays theory to
the extent feasible. Disturbing this balance for the few incidents where admissible claims exceeded the
limits under the 1992 CLC and FC would mean disturbing a widely accepted, well tested and
successful system operating on an international level .

System; he questions the fairness in expecting the transporter and cargo owners to bear all the costs

expansion of the orchestra; however, there are several performance practices and technical issues that
impact the work s total realization. The score referenced throughout this essay is the Kalmus
Miniature Orchestra Scores version. Beethoven takes his initial motif, which is quite simple, and
fleshes it out via timbral orchestration. Throughout each movement, he carefully places developmental

The first appearance of the full original motif is in measure fourteen, made of three eighth notes and
an agogically emphasized eighth on the downbeat of the next measure. This particular rendition is
used throughout this movement to hold bring sections of it together on a macro level (mm. 21, 23, 30,
79 85, etc.). Various instruments throughout the movement also adapt three short notes as pick notes
or as set up sections for a string of lesser articulated notes(mm. 15 Violins, 76 77 Violin II and Viola,
etc.). For the first time in music history, movement three sees the emancipation of the low strings. The
introductory statement of the movement is not made with violin, high wind, or even viola; it is made
with the celli and basses. The two instruments lend a sort of dark cast to the line that sounds
anticipating, almost in a foreboding sense. The anticipation is met with the original motif at measure
nineteen played by horns and accompanied by strings, which is then texturally expanded into the
entire orchestra, much like it has been at time in the previous two movements (mm. 19 44). This
movement, again conveniently in three, allows the motif to be interwoven throughout in much the
same way as the second movement while the theme from the beginning measures is also developed.
Further diversity is generated through the use of

Preeclampsia Research Paper
Preeclampsia is a condition that occurs only during pregnancy. Some symptoms of preeclampsia may
include high blood pressure and protein in the urine, occurring after week 20 of pregnancy.
Preeclampsia is often precluded by gestational hypertension. While high blood pressure during
pregnancy does not necessarily indicate preeclampsia, it may be a sign of another problem.
Preeclampsia affects at least 3 5% of pregnancies. If undiagnosed, preeclampsia can lead to eclampsia,
a serious condition that can put pregnant women and their baby at risk, and in rare cases, cause death.
Women with preeclampsia who have seizures are considered to have eclampsia. The exact causes of

Najate Achamrah and Agnes Ditisheim believe that defective placenta releases many factors to the
maternal circulation such as, pro inflammatory cytokines, syncytiotrophoblast micro particles,
angiogenic and antiangiogenic factors which is in turn cause endothelial cell dysfunction and increase
vascular resistance that result in the maternal syndrome. (Najate Achamrah Agnes Ditisheim, 2018). It
is thought that nutrients insufficiency plays crucial role in preeclampsia development in pregnant
women. Micronutrients and vitamins have clinical antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties, and
they are substantial for normal placentation by acting on placental endothelial function. In addition,
nutrients contribute to the spiral artery remodeling and angiogenesis. (Ilekis et al., 2017).

The Iraq-Iraq War
When the gold mining and gold trade era came to an end, the whole world set its eyes on the next
most expensive natural reserve on this planet earth The Oil. And as we know, the Middle East has
been an oil rich region from the start, therefore, the whole world wangled around the Middle Eastern
countries to meet their oil consumption needs by getting their hands on this natural resource.
Saddam s Rule and Petrodollar era:
Same was the case with Iraq, which is an oil rich country and has the second largest oil reserves on the
Earth. By the end of 1970, Saddam Hussein rose to power in Iraq and established himself as its head.
He did not approve of the radical islamic ideas booming in Iran and slowly making their way to Iraq
and it was during this time when Iraq invaded Iran, over the disputed Shatt Al Arab waterway that
divided both the countries. The US, Europe, and other countries of the Persian Oil gulf financed Iraq
in this war, and crowned Saddam as The Defender of the Arab World . Unfortunately, for Iraq and
Saddam, things did not go as planned and Iran retaliated crushing Iraq s powers and forcing it to
retreat. The Iraq Iran war came to an end, and Iraq, crushed under heavy war loss and huge debt urged

most important thing that would be different, had Saddam still ruled iraq, was that ISIS wouldn t be in

Soluble Vitamins
Katharine Jones
SCI/241
September 22, 2013
Water soluble and fat soluble vitamins are both needed in order for our bodies to not only survive but
to thrive as well. Water soluble vitamins are vitamins that are stored within our bodies and are needed
daily. If we consume too much water soluble vitamins they will then be excreted through our urine.
Water soluble vitamins are metabolized by the process of digestion and then absorption. Fat soluble
vitamins are vitamins that are soluble in fats. Foods cooked with these vitamins will not lose their
vitamins after being cooked. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are considered the fat soluble vitamins. There
are many sources which you can find these vitamins in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hispanic Health Issues
Iannotta, Joah G. Emerging Issues in Hispanic Health: Summary of a Workshop. Washington, D.C.:
National Academies, 2002. Print. This book is about the emerging health issues in the Hispanic
population. It includes information about population statistics of Hispanics in the United States,
determinants of health, health care coverage, and emerging issues. The National Academies organized
a meeting on Hispanic health issues, and brought together experts in demography, public health, and
sociology. This resource provides studies for any researchers looking to learn more about the health
issues affecting Hispanics. The credibility of this book seems to be reliable as this has studies and
ideas from a variety of people, not just one individual. And there are plenty of tables and graphs
inserted in the text to help give a visual sense of what the facts are saying. The only weakness would
probably be that it was not published recently, but it is still a useful source of information.

Hispanics. The article states that Latinos drink more than Latinas. The targeted audience seems to be

Hispanics. Tables were included to help organize the data and statistics of the Hispanic population.
The only weakness, is that it mainly focuses on older adults. Of course that is part of the title, but it
would have been more helpful if it include younger populations

International Accounting Standards Board And Financial...
It all began on October 2002 where the International Accounting Standards Board and Financial
Accounting Board signed a memorandum of understanding that has come to be known as the Norwalk
Agreement . Here the two boards met and decided to make their standards fully compatible and put it
into practice and once they conquer their goal, they have to make sure it is maintained. But before I
divulge into details regarding the future and presently achieved goals of the convergence, I would like
to throw some light on the history and background of the two boards involved. International
Accounting Standards were formed between 1973 and 2001 by the board of the International
Accounting Standards Committee (IASC). On 1 April 2001, the new ... Show more content on

After the year 2001 almost 120 countries have adopted the use of IFRS. On the other hand The United
States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles have been set by the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA) which is subject to Securities and Exchange Commission regulations.
The AICPA first created the Committee on Accounting Procedure in 1939, and replaced that with the
Accounting Principles Board in 1959. In 1973, the Accounting Principles Board was replaced by the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) under the supervision of the Financial Accounting
Foundation with the Financial Accounting Standards advisory council serving to advise and provide
input on the accounting standards. Organizations such as United States Security and Exchange
Commission, Financial Accounting Standard Board, and Governmental Accounting Standards Board
influence the GAAP in the United States.
Coming back to convergence, for the past several years the IASB and IASC before 2001, have been
working to develop high quality, easy to understand, and practicable International Financial Reporting
Standards to serve investors creditors, around the world in globalized capital markets to make
investment decisions. When IASB took over from the IASC in 2001, few countries back then had
accepted and practiced International Accounting Standards. Everything changed with the

  • 2. Navigating The Kitchens Was Surprisingly Easy Navigating the kitchens was surprisingly easy. People were running around, focusing so much of their attention on their own duties that they didn t even think twice about Maela and Ralan walking through. The guild in charge of cooking was under the Harvest Guild, so green tunics and robes were everywhere, although there was the occasional white of a knight. There were no blue merchants or others in the yellow of the Craft Guild. They were only stopped once, and that was by a Harvest Guild member. Ralan s explanation of broken equipment needing fixed resulted in nothing more than a comment of Hurry up, dinner will be served soon. They had turned down yet another hallway when Ralan leaned over and whispered to Maela, Those two with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The carafes shattered on the floor, covering it in glass. You idiots! You have ruined my dress whites! Enraged, the knight turned to the two Harvest guild members who were issuing a stream of apologies. Maela tugged on Ralan s arm, and they briskly walked past the knight, who had completely forgotten about them. When they were well past the knight, Ralan whispered, Did you plan for them to escort us? People are clumsy, she replied, not even trying to hide her smile. The defenses here aren t very good, Ralan noted as he and Maela looked through the door of the prison dining hall. Prisoners were actually fed in their cells, so the hall itself was more of a room for the jailors and a large prep area for taking food to the prisoners. Maela turned and glared at Ralan. Nothing is ever easy. Don t forget that. Without a plan you would have been captured in the Flats, on the Circle, and in the hallway back there. Maela took a breath and then softened her voice. But you are correct about the defenses. But what is there to defend? The prisons are well guarded, and who would attack the Knight Tower? They continued on. The other side of the prison kitchen dining hall opened up to hallway off of the main atrium of the prison part of the Tower. Unlike the small, cramped kitchen halls, the halls of the Tower proper were wide and imposing. Knights walked through them at regular intervals. Also unlike the kitchen halls, there weren t any other guild members in the Tower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Is The American Dream Attainable Essay The Distant American Dream Is the American Dream still attainable? Statistics have shown that over the years children have found to succeed more than their parents did. They were able to attain higher education and more job opportunities than the generation before. However, as the years passed by, Americans became lazier and unmotivated to take all the opportunities presented. Money, jobs, education, careers, and relations are all still attainable as long as the individual works for their American Dream.. The American Dream could not exist without money to make it happen. In this world humanity lives, in other words one must have the means to do that which one wishes. People can dream all day of jobs and how much money they want but without ... By not continuing the education track for a career and grasping wildly for an easier track will bring you further and further away from the goal wanted. The dream is like a destination. Would you take a straight path or would you take all the roads leading there? One must have the appropriate education to achieve in the career wanted. To truly attain the American Dream one must have the backing of family. Without their support it is a long and lonely road which not many complete. In 1925, Fitzgerald wrote With all the glorious parties Gatsby threw no one was there at Gatsby s funeral except his father, Nick, the butler, and the owl eyed man. (Fitzgerald) Gatsby was truly alone through this tragic death. His end symbolized the death of every American s dream that has been given up on or truly never had the chance. Through hard work and dedication the American Dream may still be attainable. The dream of all Americans is a crucial thread in the country s tapestry woven through politics, music and culture. This thread is what gives all humanity the drive to excel in anyway possible. Money ,jobs, education, careers, and relations will help Americans work towards the dream they have built for ... • 4. Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way for the development of stronger and more effective synapses. A growing fusiform gyrus This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic pruning or tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults. They were subjected to visual recognition tests of faces and places and functional magnetic resonance and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests. Functional magnetic resonance imaging was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the observations suggest that cortical tissue proliferation is taking placing. Wearable Wearability Research Paper Although physiological signals, such as an increase in temperature and blood pressure, are not traditionally considered an input channel within computer science, computers are gradually moving beyond the desktop and reaching closer contact with our bodies. An affective wearable a wearable computer equipped with physiological sensors and pattern recognition is designed to perceive and respond to the wearer s affective state. Affective states are determined by certain patterns; one pattern would be a change in nervous system activity, such as an increase in heart rate. While most wearables today are designed as bands around our wrists, these miniature flexible electrodes can be attached to jewelry or sewn into our clothes. Indeed, people are already in physical contact with many things that could be augmented with sensors (Picard). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He accomplished a great deal of things in his life, he had many children, and wrote many many volumes on topics only he really enjoyed. Edward Taylor was born near the lovely town of Leicestershire, England and he was a very educated individual, and believe it or not but this man was a Puritan. His theology was a bear resemblance to that of his Boston contemporary Michael Wigglesworth rather than Solomon Stoddard, a minister at Northampton. Taylor was a strict Congregationalist, he opposed the Plan of Union between Congregational and Presbyterian churches. Little do we know of Taylor s early life, the date and exact place of his birth are uncertain, he did leave England only because he felt unable to hew to the Act of Uniformity. When he left England he went to America in 1668 where he chased the career path of becoming a member of the Ministry. • 8. The Crime Of A Victimless Crime A victimless crime is a term used to refer to actions that have been made illegal but which do not directly violate or threaten the rights of any other individual. It often involves consensual acts or solitary acts in which no other person is involved. Such acts would not lead to any person calling for help from the police. Therefore, many people will argue that drug dealing, use, and abuse is a victimless crime, but they are wrong. We have to ask ourselves what makes a crime a crime? We know that crime is an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law. However, it also consists of actions that cause harm. With harm, there are in fact victims, although the harm may not be directly implied to just one person, there still victims that are infected by the crime. With the topic of drugs , we have to examine the types of harm that this act inflicts. The three types of harm that is caused by drug dealing, use and abuse are individual, social and economic harm. People who sell drugs such as cocaine, meth, heroin and other opiates are most defiantly committing a violent act. They are delivering an substance of destruction to another person. How To Replace A Roof Addressing roof problems Tips on how to determine whether it is best to repair damage or replace entire roof When it comes to doing home improvements, homeowners have to make good decisions in order to meet with success without injuring themselves or messing up their homes. This is especially true for a job that involves doing something to the roof. Whether the job is repairing damaged areas or installing a new roof, hiring an Austin roofing professional is one of the best decisions that homeowners can make, and that is because such a professional will have the necessary skills to complete all the work safely and efficiently. Potential buyers tend to zero in on the condition of homes, looking for anything that is out of place. If the damage happens to be so extensive that a patch job would not be enough, then homeowners ought to let a professional contractor install a new roof. This option, depending on the size of the home, will be rather costly, but it goes without saying that putting in a new roof will prove worthwhile in the long run as there many benefits to ... Eliezer is a devout Jew at a young age. His conviction is flipped upside down when the Nazis enter his life, and he believes God walked out. He does not understand God s calmness during this tragedy. He demands answers but is met with silence. In Night, Wiesel uses Eliezer to depict how his unconditional faith is shaken down to nonexistence during the Holocaust. Before Eliezer s living nightmare reigns down, he is dedicated to his religion. At twelve years old, he spends his time strengthening his beliefs: By day I studied Talmud and by night I would run to the synagogue to weep over the destruction of the Temple ... I was not denying His existence, but I doubted his absolute justice (Wiesel 45). He does not question God s entity, but he does His morals. He thinks why pray when no one is listening. During one of the hangings, another prisoner inquires about God s presence. Eliezer thinks to himself, Where He is? This is where hanging here from this gallows (Wiesel 65). He refers to God being murdered again hanging there with the innocent. It is about humanity ... committing against one another, about the Jew and Israel s suffering (100). Eliezer needs to target his anger toward the ones carrying out the inhuman acts. God will sometimes answer prayers in ways that are not seen. He will not always respond to one s terms but to His own. That does not mean He is not there. Both dog training advice and college studying advice include the need for consistency, frequency, and repetition, along with using both types of reinforcement. Despite these similarities, dogs and students differ in what they are learning and how exactly they show that they have learned. Advice to college students and dog trainers are comparable in fundamental ways; their methods and reactions to conditioning are similar but what exactly the person or dog is learning can make it seem as if the two types of advice have very little in common. Studying and dog training advice both include the need for frequency, consistency, and repetition. The ASPCA (n.d.) states that, once a dog has learned a trick, trainers should regularly test the dog throughout the day to ensure the dog remembers how to perform it. Dogs also learn quicker when using the same phrases each training session, such as using only lay down for a command versus mixing it with get down . Finally, the ASPCA also recommends that training sessions should be kept relatively short; trainers should only practice a new trick five to fifteen times before switching to a previously learned trick ( Training Your Dog ). Dog training advice is fundamentally based on these three ideas; frequency, consistency, and repetition speed the rate at which a dog can learn new material. Like dog ... Daft Punk Research Paper The early days of EDM as concert attractions were off to an unsteady start with an audio/visual setup consisting of little more than a few speakers and a film projector. Although, the shows changed and matured with the genre, many point to Daft Punk s first appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival in Indio, California, in 2006 where the duo unveiled their now legendary pyramid as a game changer. Manning a 24 foot tall aluminum pyramid of custom built supercomputers covered with screens, Daft Punk created what many believe to be the best electronic show ever assembled, a veritable LED infused honeycomb pulsing with music and purpose. The idea for the pyramid stage setup came from Daft Punk s 2005 video for Technologic, which featured a little robot who chants the song s lyrics which flash on a television monitor while sitting in a little red pyramid on a pyramid themed stage where Bangalter and de Homem Christo are playing base guitars. The media is a powerful source that we ve been using for years and years since technology has been invented, starting with newspapers and television. Throughout the years, media has changed since the transition from newspapers to television broadcasting because of the changes of entertainment and what people are into as time goes on. In the book Amusing Ourselves to Death, Postman looks at how print culture or typography has changed the media, how it evolved to television and what it s doing to our culture and the way that people think. I agree to his analysis and conclusions about how television has changed our thinking. We ve became a society that won t be persuaded unless we re entertained or it has some kind of emotional appeal to it. Ever since televisions and printed images came into existence, we get easily bored when something isn t captivating. This can also be a bad thing for example, we believe things easily when it sounds good or shocking to us without logically thinking about it. This causes us to have different perspectives thanks to how the media portrays certain situations. I also agree with Postman when he talked about how people are less engaged because of the media changes. One of the examples that Postman used was about the Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas debate, it was a simple and short oral debate that lasted for 2 hours and people sat through the whole thing without breaks. In this new media era, it s not that easy for us to sit through long oral debates or lectures or we ll get bored because our attention span is not that long. Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Process of DNA Replication Essay The Process of DNA Replication The process of DNA replication plays a crucial role in providing genetic continuity from one generation to the next. Knowledge of the structure of DNA began with the discovery of nucleic acids in 1869. In 1952, an accurate model of the DNA molecule was presented, thanks to the work of Rosalind Franklin, James Watson, and Francis Crick. To reproduce, a cell must copy and transmit its genetic information (DNA) to all of its progeny. To do so, DNA replicates following the process of semi conservative replication. Two strands of DNA are obtained from one, having produced two daughter molecules that are identical to one another and to the parent molecule. This essay reviews the three stages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, there are many enzymes that participate in the unwinding of the old strands of DNA molecule such as topoisomerase. This enzyme is responsible for initiation of the unwinding of the old strands of DNA molecule. Once supercoiling has been eliminated by the topoisomerase, helicase accomplishes unwinding of the original double strand. In order to aid with the unwinding process, DNA gyrase catalyzes the formation of negative supercoils. The unwound helix, with each strand being synthesized into a new double helix, is called the replication fork. The second stage of the process is complementary base pairing. In this stage, new complementary nucleotides are positioned following the rules of complementary base pairing: adenine (A) to thymine (T) and guanine (G) to cytosine (C). Then, the binding of free nucleotide with complementary bases is catalyzed by DNA polymerase. The last stage of the process, joining, involves bonding of complementary nucleotide to each other so as to form new strands. The nucleotides are joined to one another by hydrogen bonds to form a new DNA molecule. This joining continues until a new polynucleotide chain has been formed alongside the old one, forming a new double helix molecule. This stage of the process also takes place with the assistance of enzymes. The DNA polymerase links the complementary nucleotides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Reflection On Behavior Intervention Reflection I do not feel that I have sufficient data to make an informed decision on the effectiveness of this intervention for Adam. However, I would conclude that my attempt at a behavior intervention was unsuccessful. This was due to a variety of reasons. The foremost reason being to inconsistent application of the intervention. At times, weeks passed between trials. As we have learned, intervention is successful when it is implemented regularly. It was unwise to set my intervention monitoring in an environment which I have no control over and for a small window of time, for a specific type of instruction. Instruction is not given at a set period of time, as I had thought when collecting my baseline data. Adam s general education teacher often has them do individual work, then moves to whole group instruction, at which point I need to leave. Furthermore, there are a great deal of holidays during autumn, so students were often participating in the arts, rather than math. These issues could have potentially been avoided if I had spoken to his general education teacher about her schedule, but I did not. Further consultation could have helped this project to be successful. The token board may have not been the most appropriate intervention for what I was doing. I chose this intervention because both Adam and I are familiar with it. Further, I had planned to increase the duration overtime. This book was a bit of a challenge to read because e of the way that its written. Even though this reading isn t one of my favorites, it was a challenge for me, therefor it made me want to understand it more. I think that the discussion went well, many students shared their opinion, and for the most part, the subjects of the discussion intermingled. It was good to hear that many students shared some of the same thoughts. I think that this made the discussion interesting because they felt comfortable sharing their opinion and thoughts about the book. I really enjoyed leading discussion because I was forced to share my opinion and listen carefully to others in order to agree or disagree with what they said. Kevin and I met twice to talk about what we wanted to do for our presentation. We divided up the reading between us so that we could focus more in depth with the reading. I took ever the first half of the book and Kevin took over the second half. I would of like for Kevin to have spoken out more and be more active in the discussion because when we met, he had some really good points that would have added to the discussion. Overall, the discussion went really well, I actually wanted to continue discussing but we ran out of time. Advocates of vaccination think that vaccines are still not safe, nor humane. They also believe that mandatory vaccines infringe upon the freedom of people s bodies. Some vaccines even offer a better response than contracting the disease ( The Benefits of Vaccine ). The Chickenpox vaccine has been studied a lot involving the side effects in comparison to those of contracting the disease. A child has a .25 percent chance of being hospitalized after catching chickenpox while they would have a .05 percent chance of minor infection after the vaccine . While death rarely occurs from either form of immunization, it was far more likely to occur from the infection rather than the vaccine. Of course, the risk is extremely small in both instances, but the slight edge of chickenpox is scary enough for most parents to vaccinate their children. Shingles is something that many people are scared of contracting as they get older. Although the chickenpox vaccine has not been available for long enough to see how many vaccinated people develop shingles at any point in their lives, the contraction of shingles in children post vaccine has been studied. Shingles is 39 percent less likely to occur in children or teens who were vaccinated than those who naturally transmitted the disease. (Moyer, Melinda Wenner). This is of great benefit to the school district itself because it saves many added costs in labor, insurance, and benefits. The foodservice company has its own techniques in making school meals fun, delicious, and nutritious by incorporating different promotions throughout the year. Because the company s focus is foodservice, their ultimate goal is to have high sales in all locations. This particular school district is challenging due to the low enrollment of students. School meals provide one third to one half of a child s daily caloric intake.1 Therefore, school lunches have a large impact on the health of children who purchase lunch or participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The recent change in the NSLP standards gave students more availability to fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low fat dairy products and required students to have at least one fruit or vegetable serving on their tray in hopes that healthy eating behaviors would be increased.2 After review of this program, research shows that fruit selection increased by 23% and vegetable consumption increased by 16.2%.3 A cross sectional observational study conducted in 12 elementary and 10 ... Several dishes in the Indian cuisine find its roots delved deep into tradition and history. Examples of these indigenous dishes include Paneer, Dahi, Avial and so on. The dairy industry in India has grown tremendously in recent years post the success of the Operation Flood Programme. This programme, which began in the 1970 s, was a noteworthy event globally and the impact of this can be witnessed in the fact of India rising to the status of being the leading producer of milk in the world. Out of the total milk produced in the country, nearly 40 50% is converted into a variety of dairy products whose origins lie deeply rooted into Indian tradition. The processes used to manufacture these products include heat and acid coagulation, heat desiccation and fermentation. Paneer is one such product which is an indigenous traditional type of fresh cheese prepared by heat acid coagulation of milk. Coagulation refers to the formation of large structural protein aggregates where fat in milk and other colloidal and soluble solids are entrapped with whey. The major protein present in milk that gets coagulated is casein. Paneer is unsalted and unripened unlike several of its western counterparts such as Roquefort cheese, Cheddar cheese and so on. After each trial I would wait for the pendulum to come to a complete stop until I fired another BB. When it was time to switch the BBs from .20g to .25g, I did not touch the gun but I only took out the ammunition clip. I did this because if I were to move the gun, the gun would likely line up a different way causing there to possibly be different results. By just taking out the clip, the gun did not move, which means the BB hit just about the same spot on the pendulum every time. Data and Calculations BBs Trail 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4 .20g 9cm 10cm 11cm 9cm .25 g 5cm 6cm 6cm 7cm Mean of .20g BBs: 9.75cm Mean of .25g BBs: 6cm Because the Energy of the BB is conserved in the system after the collision, I wanted to show that. After that I calculated the Potential Energy using (mass of the BB + pendulum)*gravity*height by which the pendulum swung. To calculate the Velocity of the BB combined with the pendulum I derived the equation: velocity = √2*gravity*height swung by which the pendulum swung. • 38. Communistic Ideology In George Orwell s Animal Farm Communistic Ideology in Animal Farm At fifty everyone has the face he deserves (Orwell). With these being his last words, I believe Orwell was trying to explain that you make who you will become, and with this there is a point of no return. In relation to communism this point is communistic rule. This dictatorship can often be expressed differently depending on the advocate s ideas, feelings, and views on social status. Communism, in general, was a prominent theme in the book Animal Farm. George Orwell gives Old Major characteristics not unlike some of the most largely influential communists. The idea of communism often involves a strong sense of individualism and selfishness (Shaoqi). In Animal Farm we see this in the quote All animals are equal but some more than others (Orwell 92). These ethics are strongly conveyed by Karl Marx. Karl Marx can be compared to Old Major through their mutual ideas of unity and equality. Marx believed in a state of social equality. [Marx] describes about his concept of a classless society... [he imagines communism] is the state of equality among people (www.bachelorandmaster.com). Major expresses this same idea through a similar experience. Last night... [Beasts of England] came back to me in my dream (Orwell 9). They go on to sing Beasts of England united as one, paralleling Marx s idea of equality. Vladimir Lenin, another influential communist, can also be compared to Old Major. Both of them were advocates for socialism and communism but never got to actually see them go through. Let the socialist snivellers croak, let the bourgeoisie rage and fume, but only people who shut their eyes so as not to see, and stuff their ears so as not to hear, can fail to notice that all over the world the birth pangs of the old, capitalist society, which is pregnant with socialism, have begun (Lenin). He never truly meant for it to progress to a form of extreme communism, just as Old Major hadn t either. By the end of the game, the players become more advanced without knowing because of their determinations to get their emotions under control. In, Slam, Dunk, Hook , the author writes about a group of boys playing a game of basketball with a lot of emotion. The author states in line 24 26, When Sonny Boy s mama died He played nonstop all day, so hard our backboard splintered. The players are filled with anger that is caused by all the tragedies that keep occurring in their lives. The anger started to pile on so much that they started to play the game as way to let out the anger instead of letting it take over their actions and lead them to act out in violence. Another way the author shows the player s emotions in the poem, Slam Dunk, Hook is with his heavy verb usage seen often in the poem. Line 29 31 states, Trouble was there slapping a blackjack Against an open palm . The boys coming together for a game when they weren t at their best was the only positive thing in their lives. The game was like an escape from reality because without it, they would have no control over themselves with all the bad in their lives. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. What Is The Implementation Of PPP In The Compensation System 3.1.1 Implementation Mechanisms Implementation of PPP in the liability and compensation regime is seen through adequate reference to mechanisms such as compulsory insurance and compensation funds whereby a ship owner is required to constitute a fund with the Court for the total limit of his liability to avail the benefit of limitation , and maintain compulsory insurance certified by the appropriate State authority for any ship carrying more than 2,000 tons of oil . 3.1.2 Loss of Right to Limit Liability There is very narrow scope for a ship owner to be exonerated from strict liability. It requires proof that damage resulted from war or was wholly caused by an intentional act or omission of a third party or by negligence of an authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Small Tanker Oil Pollution Indemnification Fund (STOPIA) was established to raise maximum amount of compensation payable for small ships and the Tanker Oil Pollution Indemnification Agreement (TOPIA) was established to indemnify the supplementary fund 50% of the compensation amount it pays in event of an oil pollution accident. Considering the costs of some of the biggest oil spills in history, the SF holds adequate funds to deal with oil spills of high magnitudes; till date no incident has required compensation from the SF . The liability and compensation provisions of the CLC and FC satisfy the main components the PPP by allowing the victims impartial access to remedies and allocating costs of pollution damage, emergency response and clean up to the polluters . The abovementioned factors show that the Conventions have come a far way in achieving a perfect balance in burden sharing among the shipping and oil industries, adapting the polluter pays theory to the extent feasible. Disturbing this balance for the few incidents where admissible claims exceeded the limits under the 1992 CLC and FC would mean disturbing a widely accepted, well tested and successful system operating on an international level . An interesting view is raised by Chao Wu in his paper on threats to the International Convention System; he questions the fairness in expecting the transporter and cargo owners to bear all the costs ... • 41. Beethoven Symphony Essay Tyler Martin Advanced Orchestration Symphony no. 5 in C minor Beethoven s intent behind this piece is creating diversity out of unity. The unifying idea of the work is a series of three short notes followed by one long note. The diversity of the simple unifying idea therein is generated by the use of timbral development techniques and expansion of the orchestra; however, there are several performance practices and technical issues that impact the work s total realization. The score referenced throughout this essay is the Kalmus Miniature Orchestra Scores version. Beethoven takes his initial motif, which is quite simple, and fleshes it out via timbral orchestration. Throughout each movement, he carefully places developmental and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first appearance of the full original motif is in measure fourteen, made of three eighth notes and an agogically emphasized eighth on the downbeat of the next measure. This particular rendition is used throughout this movement to hold bring sections of it together on a macro level (mm. 21, 23, 30, 79 85, etc.). Various instruments throughout the movement also adapt three short notes as pick notes or as set up sections for a string of lesser articulated notes(mm. 15 Violins, 76 77 Violin II and Viola, etc.). For the first time in music history, movement three sees the emancipation of the low strings. The introductory statement of the movement is not made with violin, high wind, or even viola; it is made with the celli and basses. The two instruments lend a sort of dark cast to the line that sounds anticipating, almost in a foreboding sense. The anticipation is met with the original motif at measure nineteen played by horns and accompanied by strings, which is then texturally expanded into the entire orchestra, much like it has been at time in the previous two movements (mm. 19 44). This movement, again conveniently in three, allows the motif to be interwoven throughout in much the same way as the second movement while the theme from the beginning measures is also developed. Further diversity is generated through the use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some symptoms of preeclampsia may include high blood pressure and protein in the urine, occurring after week 20 of pregnancy. Preeclampsia is often precluded by gestational hypertension. While high blood pressure during pregnancy does not necessarily indicate preeclampsia, it may be a sign of another problem. Preeclampsia affects at least 3 5% of pregnancies. If undiagnosed, preeclampsia can lead to eclampsia, a serious condition that can put pregnant women and their baby at risk, and in rare cases, cause death.
