A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. NAME Algebra II
Identifying Range & Domain of Various Functions
Vocabulary/Words to Know: - Function f(x) - Domain - Range -Infinity
- X & Y Intercepts - Roots - Rational Expression - Vertical & Horizontal Asymptote
Domain Solving the domain both algebraically and graphically
Rational Expressions
1. Depends on the equation in the denominator
2. If linear, solve via inverse operations and = it to zero.
Rational Expressions with Radicals
1. Graph it see what happens OR
2. Solve the equation inside the radical by itself and then check the graphing and
table for whether to use a ( or ) OR [ or ]
Quadratic Equ only:
1. Find roots
2. Put it in x not = to set type
Square Root Quadratic
1. Solve roots
2. check graph
3. if graph has 2 x valuesUse last set the one with the U and decide which infinity
symbols to include (neg or pos.)
- If box is empty, then it is a ( or )
Square Root- Linear
1. Set up an inequality > than 0 (Why? any radical with a negative inside will end
up irrational)
2. Solve Inequality
3. Write set-notation
Range
- Rational Expressions -check where both parts of the graph do not meet
- General: if there is a horizontal asymptote, it does not actually touch the line it
seems like it is on so use ( or ) for the range # always.
- For radical expressions: if there is a max value and an infinite range, the max
value is a [ or ].
- If the table has a number in it, then use a [ or ].
-Both LINEAR &CUBIC Functions: all real numbers for domain &range.
