This document outlines aims and topics for a distance learning web conference trial for TQR staff. The conference aims to provide experience in distance learning, describe why reinvigorating distance learning is important for TQR's strategic plan, share experiences and ideas, identify issues to enhance practice, and evaluate web conferencing as professional development. Discussion topics include the history and definitions of distance learning, challenges, strategies used by other organizations, and next steps for improving TQR's distance learning approaches. Participants are asked to provide feedback to help improve future distance learning sessions.

9. What is distance learning?
Learning that occurs when a teacher and learner(s) are separated:
by physical distance
Technology (i.e., voice, video, data, and print), is often combined
with face-to-face communication, to bridge the instructional
gap.
These types of programs can provide adults with a chance to
undertake vocational education and training and reach those
disadvantaged by limited time, distance or physical disability,
and enhance the competence of workers at their places of
employment.
