 An urban area that has a name, defined
boundaries, and local government, and that is
generally larger than a village and smaller
than a city.
Town park:
 A park is an area designated for natural, semi-natural, or
planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation
or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats in a town. It
may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil, and trees, but may
also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments,
fountains or playground structures.
 These are recreational area of town contain green fields and
some time sports playgrounds such as soccer,basebal,footbal
etc.
 The designing of the park depends upon the population of the
town.
Town parks:
Active recreation activities:
 Active recreation is generally any recreational activity
that requires significant infrastructure for the purposes
of active sports or organized events. It is about
engaging in adventure sports or outdoor games.
 Active recreation, such as team sports, typically
involves intensive management, maintenance, and
therefore needs higher costs.
 Examples: Sports fields, Playgrounds and play areas,
Golf courses, Swimming pools, Outdoor theaters
,Gymnasiums etc
Passive recreation facilities:
 A passive recreation area is generally an undeveloped
space or environmentally sensitive area that requires
minimal development. Emphasis is placed on preservation
of wildlife and the environment.
 Passive park use refers to less structured recreational
activities which require little or no specialized parkland
development and management, and therefore can be
provided at a low cost to communities. I
 Examples:Walking and jogging, Fishing, Wildlife viewing
and bird watching, Hunting, Horse riding etc

 Proper accessibility by different modes of
transportation.
 Proper infrastructure should be provided.
 Proper parking spaces to facilitate visitors.
 Design and implement efficient irrigation systems.
Social element:
 While designing a town park, importance
should be given to socials class like age and
gender, so the facilities and activities soulde be
provided for each age group not only for
childrens but arrangement should be made to
attract different group of people .
Resource conservation :
 The main emphasis in given on resources
conservation means use the resources in the
way that you can get maximum benefit from them
and also can use for long time means there
should be a balance between resources and
their use. So the resources can be conserved for
more use.
