Internship Interflection
My end of internship impression of Menards has changed a lot over the duration of my time in many
ways that the corporate office does actually care about its team member by offering a benefits
package, offering team members on weeks adding an extra $2.50 to the hourly wage, whenever a
national holiday comes around John Menards Jr. will send a letter with a card that offer you to buy
something in the store for free or offers a check that can be used in the store, and every team member
also can receive a 10% discount on any purchase with the store too. Another way that surprised me
was if you hard work, your managers notice, and inform corporate office that you make receive a
small pay increase. My opinion of the workplace knows I have realized that the strict with their
policies and procedures, but honestly, they seem to be more of a guideline on what to follow, it is
actually more of a laid back work environment but in a good that managers don t micromanage. Some
takeaways from my internship at Menard, is I have discovered that I have a hidden talent for sales that
did not know about. An example of this they have been guest that have asked have you worked retail
before because I was impressed with quality of service you just offered. I learned a lot about myself
that I have more patients than I give myself credit for because they are days I am working with a guest
that is beyond indecisive or just be straight up picky. I just patiently want for them to make a decision

Analysis Of The Lock Of The Old Two Story House
I can t believe this is really going to be our new place... Brielle admitted, as she turned the key in the
lock of the old two story house. It was a bright sunny day in the middle of June in central Iowa, and
the twin sisters, Brielle and Audrey, were getting their dream come true. Since they were little they
had been dreaming of getting to live in their grandparent s house. The old two story white house held
so many memories. Today, it looked different than it had when they were young. The white paint was
beginning to chip, and the blue shutters had faded from the royal blue they once were. The girls stood
on the massive wrap around porch looking up at the house. Growing up, this house had been like a
second home to them. Brielle and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brielle turned the brass door handle and pushed open the old wooden door and went inside, followed
by Audrey. Right away, they got to work cleaning. They were in the kitchen when their mom walked
in the house to help. Their mom lived about ten minutes away, and the girls knew that she was more
than willing to come help them get moved in.
Hey, I m so glad you re here! exclaimed Audrey.
Yeah, so am I, we still have a lot to do. agreed Brielle.
Alright girls, I ll finish the kitchen if you two want to move on to the bedrooms. Hopefully you ll be
able to stay here tonight. instructed Mom.
They left their mom in the kitchen, and went upstairs to the bedrooms. They started with what had
been the guest bedrooms, there were three of them, and saved their grandmother s room for last. A few
hours later, they were onto their grandmother s room. Their mother was still working on the
downstairs.
Well, here we are... Audrey sighed, looking around the room.
This room looks the same as it did when Grandma lived here, it seems so wrong to move everything.
Brielle said, feeling guilty. The room s maroon flowered wallpaper was still intact, and it was
equipped with the same bedroom outfit their grandparents had purchased after their wedding. The bed
still had the multicolored quilt their great grandmother had made as a wedding gift so many years
before.
We have to do it though, it s our house now, and we need the rooms. Grandma would

The Effect Of Leadership And Teachers On Students Achievement
Abstract
Each school in Australia strives to create an environment in which all students have equal access to
quality education which can enable them to become successful contributors to society. This paper aims
to examine the research on the effect of leadership and teachers on student achievement. It will
examine the research on leadership styles and the effects that leadership has on teachers and student
achievement.
Introduction
Australia, like most developed nations, has seen dramatic educational reforms over the past 60 years,
with the desire to improve student achievement and create a productive workforce and economy. Our
education system must allow each individual to reach their potential regardless of their economic
means and enable them to live a life of meaning and purpose (Teaching Talent). The shift in
educational practice has been a result of a greater understanding of what actually impacts students
achievement. The 1960 s to present day has seen a significant shift in the idea that student
achievement is solely dependent on the social background of the student to the current view that
schools via teachers and leadership can have a significant effect on student achievement. The teacher
has the greatest impact on student learning but a teacher does not exist in isolation. The principal plays
a significant role in providing high impact policies and practices which support teachers and therefore
indirectly has an impact on student achievement.

Policies in Relation to Abortion
Policies in Relation to Abortion Before and After the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Case
New Mexico State University
Jennifer Walker
Abstract
The Roe versus Wade Supreme Court Case has had a huge impact on abortion laws in the United
States. Before 1973, abortions were illegal and criminal, with few exceptions. Overnight, the decision
in the case legalized first trimester abortions while leaving the specifications of the other trimesters up
to the states. This case has led to many debates over the value of life and when life begins whether at
conception, independence from mother, or first breath. All of these can be defined by religion, law, or
individual beliefs. Unfortunately, none of the policies before or after Roe versus Wade have ... Show

Though the number of abortions has definitely increased from after the Roe versus Wade case, this is
likely do to the reporting of abortions rather than the legality of the abortions. Ideological/Value
Perspective Both the value one places on life and the question of when life begins plays a huge role in
the debate over abortion. Though people who are not part of a religion or are not spiritual have their
own beliefs, much of the debate does come from a religious perspective. So when does human life
begin? Some believe it is the moment of conception, others at the time when the baby can live
independently from the mother, and still others believe it is when the baby takes his/her first breath.
This is important because depending on when a person believes a life is valuable or that a fetus
becomes a person, may make an impact on whether or not an individual is for or against abortion. As
stated earlier, religion plays a large role in a person s beliefs as well. According to Stephens, Jordens,
Kerridge, and Ankeny (2010), the Catholic and Lutheran religions believe life begins at conception
and that this life has to right to live. Some Catholics even believe abortion is homicide. For the Jewish
faith, conception is the beginning of life; however, the mother s already existing life is more important
than the fetus. If the mother s life is at risk, an abortion may be an option. In Islam, the

The World Health Organization Response
I. Attention Getter: Have you ever wondered what would life be like if there were no responses to
disease outbreaks? Every day we are exposed to microorganisms that may or may not be fatal to our
health. Imagine getting an Eagle Alert saying that there has been a recent outbreak of Ebola in the
Hattiesburg area. What would you do? It is not up to use to handle the situation but it is up to the
World Health Organization (WHO) to respond to a terrifying event such as that.
II. Significance: WHO s are the people that we count on to keep the world a safer place from
dangerous diseases. It shines a light on how effective the World Health Organization response is
towards the outbreak of Ebola.
III. Credibility: WHO.int gives credits to what their responses are and why it is important to the world.
IV. Specific Purpose Statement and Central Idea: Although WHO s is an organization for controlling
the outbreaks of virtuous diseases, many people may want to know what is going on within the worlds
health organization. There are some agreements and disagreements to WHO s continuation of
handling the situation. Today, I will inform my audience about why WHO s should or should not
handle the Ebola situation.
V. Preview: First I will discuss what is Ebola and the World Health Organization. I will then present to
you the accomplishments and why they should be able to handle the situation. Lastly, I will talk about
the failures towards the Ebola virus and they should not continue to

Differences Between Holistic And Integrated Theories
The differences between integrated and holistic theories begin with the argument that holistic theories
try to describe all appearances of criminal actions through one catch all approach. Now an integrated
method does not attempt to explain all criminality. However, it incorporates concepts from various
sources/disciplines/and or paradigms. I am a supporter of the unified theories. When you have
phenomena like a crime that can be produced in so many different ways, there must be a multi level
approach to keeping it under control (Schmalleger, 2012). It is the duty of criminology and criminal
justice professions that we maintain a peaceful society. I am must say that Robert Agnew s general
theory of crime and delinquency makes a powerful

Analysis Of Dale Carnegie s On Skills As A Business Owner
TO: Mr. Jes Methipara, Aspiring business owner
FROM: Ms. Samantha Nartadam, Student

RE: Techniques to Consider
Your desire to start your own business is admirable. Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and
Influence People would assist you in furthering your business. Please consider the following
techniques when cultivating your skills as a business owner.
What s in it for them?
Many times, people only care about how they will be benefitting in any situation. Because of this,
business owners always need to think about what their employees or consumers will be getting out of
any transaction. This is the most effective way to win them over. Business owners need to clearly
illustrate the benefits for those who have their company in consideration. According to Dale Carnegie,
he was once approached by the company that owns the grand ballroom that he lectures in. The
company said that they were going to be charging Carnegie at a higher price. Rather than speaking
from his own experience, Carnegie explained to the company how charging him more would actually
be detrimental to their company. By only speaking calmly about the company and not himself, he was
able to effectively convince the company not to overcharge him.
In my personal life, if I ever want to convince someone to do what I desire, I always lay out how it
would benefit them. When I want my friends to accompany me to places that they have no desire to go
to, I try to illustrate the

The bond between parent and child is something that is truly special. The television show Gilmore
Girls redefined the parent child relationships on more than just television. Television shows of the past
have often kept the lives of the parent and the child separate whereas the two main characters of
Lorelai and Rory break this mold. They put out an example for all viewers on how the child and
parent can function in the same realm. For them, spending the night watching movies together isn t
some kind of forced bonding, but a time to actively seek each other s company. But this bond does
more than just solidify a mother daughter friendship, it allows them to support each other through life

The communal child rearing and altered family ideals allow for the creation of independent, self
controlled and charming children, but regardless, this kind of community would not survive in our

shocking to some. There are certain aspects of this world that could potentially survive in our world.
Things like the use of role models, some form of separation within marriage and community support
are all things that could drastically help to shape the lives of our children. Giving a child a sense of
community and belonging is something pivotal in their lives. Without the communities that have
always surrounded me, I would not be the same person. Those around me have helped to shape me
without really knowing the impact that they have had on me. This kind of community could be very
helpful in theory, in reality, this is something that would not

Metalhead Subculture Research Paper
Heavy metal music has been around now for quite some time now and over the decades has been
collecting more and more enthusiasts. Within the heavy metal scene there are many different types of
groups and subcultures but really only two that stand out. One type of subculture within the heavy
metal industry is the true believers who trust in everything heavy metal has to offer and will pride
themselves on going against the norm and challenge society. The second type of subculture is the one
who enjoys the music and tends to be less intense when considering themselves as heavy metal
enthusiasts. The ladder of the two subgroups is pretty straightforward and can be understood much
easier than the former. The former subgroup, or the true believers ... Show more content on

The Subcultureslist use the word adolescents but this can be applied to all followers of heavy metal.
The Subcultureslist asks the question, Are metalheads more reckless than other adolescents?
(subcultureslist.com). This question has been asked before, and The Subcultureslist raise points about
common stereotypes about Metalheads that supposedly show how irresponsible they are. Some of
these are about their driving skills such as being intoxicated or driving at high speeds. Others are
about their likeliness to try drugs, such as marijuana and/or cocaine, or how they are more likely to
vandalize property and shoplift. Some view that the genre of heavy metal influences these actions and
promotes violence, referring back to their slamdancing or moshing. However, a perfect example to
discredit this theory is looking at a subculture within Botswana, Africa. This subculture group is
consistent of black Botswanans who take their heavy metal image very seriously. They are dressed in
black leather, studs, and concert t shirts and are considered very fashionable within their own society.
This subculture is referred to as The Renegades, which is an underground minority rebelling against
the status quo (according to Messy Nessy, a blog on messynessychic.com). This subculture seems to
break a lot of the cultural norms society has on heavy metal enthusiast and

BENNER S THEORY FROM NOVICE TO EXPERT AND ITS
ROLE IN APRN PRACTICE
Gagandeep Sandhu
Samuel Merritt University
Patricia Benner s theory From Novice to Expert is based on the concept of nurses developing skills
and understanding of the patients care overtime which comes from their continued efforts towards
trying to achieve strong education and personal experience. The theory explains the five levels of
nursing experience: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert. Starting from
novice where they don t have any experience and simply follow instructions, nurses finally reach the
expert level transitioning through different levels where they rely on their experience rather than
principles or guidelines to connect situations and determine actions. Their performance is fluid,
flexible, and highly proficient at this level. Benner stresses on skills through experience as a
prerequisite for becoming an expert nurse (Nursing world, 2013).
Benner s theory gives a hope to new nurses and nurse practitioners in a way that experience brings
expertise. Benner emphasizes on professional growth within the organization with increased
experience. This theory provides a useful structure for practice development and marks out the
difference between the functioning of novice and experienced nurses (Lyneham, Parkinson Denholm
(2009). It emphasizes on the power of expertise and empowers the nurse to expand her knowledge. It
validates the clinical

Essay Functions Of Management
Abstract
For a company to be successful management must be efficient and effective. This is dependent on the
concepts management uses. Four basic management concepts are used in most companies to help
accomplish the goals and objectives within the organization. Despite the implementation of solid
management concepts, mistakes are made. Management must strive to learn from mistakes made,
concentrating on improving management skills.

This is an effort on behalf of the company to encourage employees to constantly think about new
approaches to solving problems and encouraging new techniques of creating products to satisfy

During this function the main focus is the management of duties and how information is passed along
within the company (Erven, 2008). Managers use this stage to delegate authority among fellow
employees with the intent of maximizing resources in the best way possible. The chain of command
witnessed by this author within her current employment indicates many levels of management, with
all co existing well and working together to discover new and creative ways to solve problems. Once
goals and objectives are in place and tasks are assigned, management needs to concentrate on
leadership. Leading primarily involves communication with employees as well as other managers
(Bateman Snell, 2009). One of the best qualities a manager can have is the ability to motivate
employees. Being able to influence employees behavior through motivation and communication will
help focus employees on the goals and objectives of the company as well as their own (Erven, 2008).

Punta Cana Fun
Visiting a different island in the Caribbean each summer has always been a family tradition of mine.
The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once my
family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts were not
so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to Punta Cana,
falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. As soon as we landed we were
greeted with songs and happiness all around. The nobleness lingering in the atmosphere, coconut
smell in the air, and architecture went beyond my imagination.

Compare And Contrast Harris And Jeffery
Have you ever heard of a slave man that tries to get his own master to buy his betrothed? From what
we read in class, in a story it talks about how a slave man begs his master to please buy his betrothed,
but it turned out that Dorcas was sold with a whole family. In the meanwhile, Jeffery s master only
wanted Dorcas not the whole family that was with her. While on the other story, it talks about how a
group of slaves got caught hidden in a barn. While they was trying to escape for their freedom, a man
asked if he could help them. That they could hide in his barn because if someone caught them
escaping that then they would probably be beat to death. The poor slaves accepted going to the man s

We Grow Accustomed To The Night By Emily Dickinson Analysis
Darkness is perceived as many different things. It can be seen as a scary unknown or being able to
push forward without knowing what s ahead or around you. When someone looks at their past, they
normally see places filled with both light memories and dark memories. Emily Dickinson was a poet
whose life had many places of darkness. In her poem, We Grow Accustomed to the Dark, she is able
to look through the darkness as a new beginning. She doesn t allow it to consume her entirely. This
contrasts Robert Frost s, Acquainted with the Night he shows a person who becomes enveloped by the
darkness and the finality of it. While both of these contrast each other s opinions of what darkness is
and whether it s good or bad, they both keep the theme that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dickinson uses the line, As when the Neighbor holds the lamp / To witness her Goodbye, (Stanza 1
Line 4) to use the light as an ending. A goodbye to whatever life had been known before. In Frost s
poem he uses goodbye as an ending as well, as if this is the narrator leaving on their own terms: But
not to call me back or say good bye. (Stanza 4 Line 1). Both authors use the entrance into the darkness
as a goodbye to someone or something, but in Dickinson s poem, it s as if the person is ready to leave
on their own terms. Whereas in Frost s he makes it seem like it was a decision that was regretted and
not fully the character s choice. The way they chose to use the dark as a goodbye, also shows the way
that they feel about the dark. Dickinson s is more about a person pulling away from someone, but
ready to deal with life themself until it s sorted out. Frost s way of saying goodbye as if the character
is reluctant to go makes it seem almost like the final goodbye, that no one s calling to have them

The Control Of Power In The Pyramids
Power has been a constant source throughout the centuries. It was seen by the Egyptians who forced
slaves to create the pyramids. The Greeks who believed Gods controlled their everyday life, and
constantly feared their own fate. Monarchies that conquered different nations to claim more territory.
There is always a reason behind the control of power, but only the ones who hold the power can see it.
Recently the power has shifted from obvious control of people to surveillance and manipulation.
Power can be changed when all of the information is seen. This movie shows many scenarios that
makes it an allegory to the power that is held in the modern world. This involves manipulation,
technology, enclosure and creating an option of choice. The characters get to choose the way they die
from six different options. None of them are better than the other, but this is the choice they have ...

The only time that the highest order is seen is in the end of the film when the power has been
disrupted. Now the experiment has gone awry, and the Gods are going to come and take over the rest
of the world. The power is now in the hands of the person who was part of the experiment. The one
person who is able to survive while still having a sacrifice. She is now able to choose her fate. Or at
least that is what the lady tells her. She manipulates Dana into deciding to kill her friend in order to
save the world. She sees the reason behind the actions, and automatically agrees with the
conversation. It is not until she is attacked by the werewolf that she recognizes it was not her choice,
but instead manipulated through the conversation. This appears to be the only way the highest power
believed that they were able to ensure the wanting result. To actually explain the reasons behind the
action to the person who can survive. Upper management predicted incorrectly and were unable to see
that the power had turned until it was too

Abortion And The Second Presidential Debate Essay
I have chosen to write about abortion and its role in the third presidential debate of 2016. To begin, we
need to understand abortion and how it is received in the United States before we try to understand
how the current candidates addressed abortion. Abortion has been a hot button topic in the United
States since Roe vs. Wade in 1973 when criminalizing abortion was considered unconstitutional under
the Due Process clause of the 14th amendment. This trial created a nationwide debate on not only the
legalization of abortion but also the restrictions and regulations. To best understand the topic, it is best
we look at both sides of the issue. Pro Life or anti abortion activists often argue that the fetus is a
human immediately after fertilization, resulting in murder or killing innocent human beings. Pro
Choice or Pro abortion activists often argue that regardless of the status of the fetus, women should
have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. According to the National Abortion Federation
on prochoice.org, abortion was common and openly used around the time of the creation of the
constitution. In the mid 1800 s abortion became illegal state by state, the reasoning behind
criminalization varied by state but it was believed there was a fear the population would be primarily
children of immigrants rather that Anglo Saxon women if abortion remained legal. The third debate
primarily focused on later term abortions. Typically abortions are considered late term

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
The beginning of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) started in the early 1970 s when people
believed more could be done in the out of hospital setting. When the EMT was first introduced to the
people of the United States of America, the curriculum to become an EMT included 400 hours of
class, lab, and clinical rotations in various hospital settings followed by a 100 hour field internship.
1970 had also included the very first National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), which in 1971, 1,520
personnel took the first NREMT Ambulance exam. Lyndon B. Johnson adopted the National Highway
Traffic safety Act in 1966, which had standardized [EMT] training, promoted state involvement,

EMTs have so called chores they need to perform such as [cleaning] the equipment.[They need to]
check and replace the used and damaged supplies. This is in case if on a call they don t have any
important damaged supplies that could be used to save someone s life. Other duties of the job can
include [sterilizing] the ambulances interior, if it is used to carry a patient suffering from an infectious
disease. [They also] restock all supplies in the ambulance and replace used blankets, linens, and other
supplies. Sterilizing the inside of the ambulance makes sure the next patient they pick up doesn t catch
whatever illness the previous patient had before them. EMTs restock the ambulance so they can get
whatever the patient needs to feel comfortable on the ride to the hospital. Looking back from the
beginning of where the EMT profession was, it has come a long way. The NREMT has developed
immensely over time, and for the better. It has better prepared our EMTs today and helping them face
whatever call they go out on. Not to mention the progression of equipment from the early 1970 s to
the present, has also played a big role in giving our EMTs an edge for any call. Overall, becoming an
EMT takes a lot of dedication and hard work, but with the right mindset, anyone could become a first

Medical Cannabis Essay
What sets medical cannabis apart from other medicines is its complex
attributes. Medical cannabis is composed of several cannabinoids that are naturally
occurring compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant (Mandal, 2010). Meaning
that regardless of the disease or the affliction that it might cause to unhealthy
patients, there is at least one cannabinoid that is likely to treat the patient with the
cannabis. One of the most widely known cannabinoids found in marijuana is the
Tetrahydrocannabinol. Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is also known as THC, can be
defined as a mild analgesic and cellular research has shown the compound has
antioxidant activity (Why tested cannabis,). In turn, THC targets the CB1

Another disease that recognizes medical cannabis as a treatment would be
the Human Immunodeficiency Virus better known as HIV. HIV is a disease that
compromises a person s immune system by killing protective white blood cells
(Cannabis and HIV). The main factor in HIV victims has to do with the fact that
their condition makes them vulnerable to infections. In some cases a common cold
could essentially result in the death of an HIV victim because their body cannot
fight off the cold. The chief regimen for HIV is high active antiretroviral therapy
(HAART), it consists of different medications that decreases the diseases
development. Daniel K Jane suffered from AIDS, he explained the use of HAART
caused severe nausea, chronic exhaustion and physical weakness, neurological
complications, persistent anxiety, and a total loss of appetite (Cannabis and HIV).
Unfortunately the detrimental side effects of HAART can be so crippling that
patients will discontinue their treatment. For this reason, those patients including
medical cannabis apart of there regimen are: 3.3 times more likely to

How Technology Helps With The Sales Process And How It Can...
The purpose of this essay is to discuss how technology can assist with the sales process and how it can
develop a trust based relationship between businesses.
Technology plays a very important role in the sales process, as new trends arise such as the use of
mobile applications, social media, database management systems and cloud computing the ability to
store information online and be able to access your data conveniently, everywhere and anywhere you
go as long as you have an internet connection has become the new meta. The concept of selling has
evolved into a many different activities comparatively to just a decade ago. The successful
professional salesperson of today and the future is likely a better listener than a talker (Thomas N.
Ingram, 2011). As mentioned by Thomas, a typical salesperson today are more focuses in developing
long term relationships with their customers rather than the historical methods such as the short term,
heavy selling methodologies. Businesses have moved on, the world has accepted and adopted the new
technology to help improve the sales process. Seller have become more aware of the customer needs
and requirements and are finding new ways to help satisfy them. There are many selling approaches
and are used for different types of selling situations. Each approach has their own distinctive way of
persuading the buyer and can result in different levels of effectiveness. Using technology can have its
benefits and also comes with a cost that can

Italian Immigration To California Essay
Drawn by the prospects of job opportunities, agriculture, land, and gold Italians began immigrating to
California in the mid 19th century. At this time many Italians had settled on the east coast, causing
California [to be free] from the threat of large scale immigration, because few Italian peasants were
able to afford the additional travel expenses (Giovinco 198). However, the Italians coming to
California were mostly from the northern parts of Italy, while those that settled on the east coast were
from the southern parts of Italy. Once arriving in California, the Italians settled in the North Beach
area of San Francisco, Monterey, and southern California between the cities of Los Angeles and San
Diego. The immigration of Italians to California came in three main waves with the first wave arriving
between the mid 19th century until shortly before World War II, and were driven by poverty and
struggle, (Yollin) while the second wave, arriving during the period just before the war until 1970,
were mainly middle class Italians who wanted to join their relatives or escape postwar ruins (Yollin).

ecology, and climate between California and the rolling countryside of northwestern Italy (Vaught

Puritan Beliefs In John Winthrop s A City Set On A Hill
A City set on a Hill is a phrase that became popularized in the American politics, and it emanates from
the parable of Salt and Light in the New Testament. In Matthew 5:14, Jesus tells the crowd that was
listening to him, You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden (New King
James Version). John Winthrop, an English Puritan lawyer, had a vision for Boston that it would be A
City Set on a Hill. This is a vision that has over the years been replicated by the United States of
America as it has strived to set an example on the world stage as a beacon of freedom and hope for the
entire world. The phrase a city set on a hill refers to a society that others people will look up to
(Morgan 76). By using this phrase, Winthrop describes the Massachusetts Bay colony, which he
supposed would turn out to be an outstanding example of Puritan faultlessness. Although this phrase
has a religious undertone, it can be used to describe the aspects that the United States ought to
emulate.
A Model of Christian Charity is a sermon that was delivered by John Winthrop in 1630 while he was
on board of the ship Arbella which was sailing to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. This sermon is best
known for its application of the phrase City upon a Hill regarding the founding of the United States,
and later used in the description of American exceptionalism (Morgan 112). A city set on a hill stated
they intended to live the way God wanted them to live as well as

A Diagnostic Tool For Renal Disease And Hypertensive...
Introduction Proteinuria is often used to detect the presence of any type of proteins in the urine and
serves as a diagnostic tool for renal disease and hypertensive disorders. Among those disorders, pre
eclampsia is characterized by low renal perfusion and leakage of proteins in urine due to a damaged
glomerular base membrane (1). This condition is associated with a high risk of maternal complications
and prenatal mortality. Pre eclampsia is usually defined as a combination of hypertension, edema and
proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation and is determined by a threshold of 300mg/24 hours of proteins
(2). Normal urine excretion is up to 150mg/day (3). The most common test used in antenatal care to
screen proteinuria is the visual reagent dipstick. It is a semi quantitative and colorimetric method. The
stick changes colour when the reagent (tetrabromophenol) binds to the proteins. The binding is pH
dependent (albumin binds at a pH between 5 and 7, other proteins bind only at a pH below). If the
urinalysis by the dipstick is positive, a 24 hour urine collection is performed in order to confirm the
proteinuria and to estimate the total amount of protein (4). Another method available for detecting
proteinuria is called the Bradford assay. This quantitative method is based on the binding of proteins
with the dye Coomassie Blue which increases the absorption of the dye at 595nm. The absorbance
measured by spectrophotometry is related to the amount of proteins present in the

The Ethics Of Interplanetory Space Travel
I am writing this letter to you to assess the pros and cons of interplanetory space travel. Should we
send humans to Mars? Is it right? Is it really ethical to put fourth human missions to this inhospital
planet? YES! In this letter I will be arguing the pros of why we should say YES to the next step
forward in humanity. I hope that after reading this it will assist your thoughts and consideration of
human interplanetory space travel.
Mars may remain inhospital much like the interior of the Antartic, as it stands, however we can
transform our neighbouring red planet into a hospitable checkpoint for further space travel. At this
moment in time Mars is currently uninhabited, and so, as quoted in a BBC article: this can give us the
freedom and oppotunity to artifically transform the climate, surface and atmosphere to enable humans
to live on the red planet without life support systems. Not only will this be the next step in humanly
evolution, this is also potentially the next step to saving human kind, our own species, you want that

to safeguard our existance for thousands or even millions of years from now, we should at least

The Pros And Cons Of Hospice Nursing
Usually, the majority of aging people spend most of their time in nursing homes where they receive
specialized treatment and care that is not available in the normal home setting. What is more, the
aging individuals give each other company as they interact in serene and supportive environments that
promote their peace of mind. A person considering to pursue a profession in hospice nursing care
should be equipped with a set of skills and knowledge base, aside from having the necessary passion
that would help him/her in navigating through various hurdles. One of the most significant
disadvantages of the career is that the professionals are obliged to provide care to the terminally ill;
and therefore, it becomes sensitive to extend care aimed at providing emotional and spiritual support.
This paper explores the form and the nature of hospice nursing. Hospice care features as a risk based

Usually, patients with AIDS, stroke, lung disease, multiple sclerosis, and liver disease are eligible for
the hospice care (Connor, 2017). Notably, the aim of this kind of care is not to pursue the complete
healing of the patient, but to offer a specialized kind of treatment reduces pain and other health
complications as the patients await to succumb to the conditions of their health. To receive Medicare
cover while under hospice care, an individual should belong to Medicare Part A (Connor, 2017). In
addition, a qualified physician must ascertain that the individual under consideration is suffering from
a terminal illness. Connor (2017) argues that for a patient to qualify for hospice care, he or she should
be in possession of a 6 months prognosis or less provided that the disease is following a normal
course. In this regard, it is apparent that in order to receive hospice care, a patient must be terminally

Azide Lab Report
The antagonistic effect of glutamine on Azide 1 mediated light production was tested by increasing the
glutamine concentration from 0.1 to 5mM. The results show a dose dependent inhibition of BLI signal
by L glutamine in HT1080 luc2 and HepG2 luc2 cells. This reduction confirms the signal obtained by
Azide 1 was due to the competitive interference with glutamine uptake. However, a fall in the light
intensity could not be observed in 4T1 RLR cells. This outcome does not mean that Azide 1 did not
compete with L glutamine for the transporter mediated uptake. The reason of no effect observed is
because 4T1 RLR which is a more glucose dependent cell line doesn t have a good affinity for L
glutamine (Fig. 7A), but binds well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10A). Hence, this proves that L glutamine wouldn t have many chances to compete with Azide 1 for
transporter binding.
To confirm the exact potential mechanism involved in the uptake of Azide 1, a competitive inhibition
was carried out in glutamine dependent cancer cell lines: HT1080 luc2, U87MG luc2 and HepG2 luc2
using the specific inhibitor GPNA for the system ASCT2. The reason for choosing to test the
involvement of this specific type of transporter in the uptake of Azide 1 is because the signal produced
by Azide 1 in HT1080 luc2 and HepG2 luc2 cells could be reduced in the antagonistic effect assay by
using L glutamine which is the natural competitor for binding to glutamine transporter systems ASC
and N. It was also figured out in this study that HepG2 luc2, HT1080 luc2 and U87MG luc2 express
the ASCT2 transporter on the cell surface. GPNA decreased the signal intensity in HT1080 luc2 and
U87MG luc2 cells. This decrease confirms the potential involvement of ASCT2 transporter in Azide 1
uptake. On the other hand, an increase in the BLI signal was obtained in HepG2 luc2 cells. This
outcome likely came from the effect of gamma glutamyl transferase which is an enzyme found in liver
cancer cells (e.g. HepG2 cell) and catalyses the transfer of the gamma glutamyl moiety to an acceptor

Angeles throughout the late 19th century, a recognizable neighborhood ( Chinatown ) was established
on Calle de Los Negros between El Pueblo Plaza and Old Arcadia Street. As the Chinese workers
dominated in their fields, their neighborhood grew significantly. Old Chinatown spread farther and

  • 2. Internship Interflection My end of internship impression of Menards has changed a lot over the duration of my time in many ways that the corporate office does actually care about its team member by offering a benefits package, offering team members on weeks adding an extra $2.50 to the hourly wage, whenever a national holiday comes around John Menards Jr. will send a letter with a card that offer you to buy something in the store for free or offers a check that can be used in the store, and every team member also can receive a 10% discount on any purchase with the store too. Another way that surprised me was if you hard work, your managers notice, and inform corporate office that you make receive a small pay increase. My opinion of the workplace knows I have realized that the strict with their policies and procedures, but honestly, they seem to be more of a guideline on what to follow, it is actually more of a laid back work environment but in a good that managers don t micromanage. Some takeaways from my internship at Menard, is I have discovered that I have a hidden talent for sales that did not know about. An example of this they have been guest that have asked have you worked retail before because I was impressed with quality of service you just offered. I learned a lot about myself that I have more patients than I give myself credit for because they are days I am working with a guest that is beyond indecisive or just be straight up picky. I just patiently want for them to make a decision or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Lock Of The Old Two Story House I can t believe this is really going to be our new place... Brielle admitted, as she turned the key in the lock of the old two story house. It was a bright sunny day in the middle of June in central Iowa, and the twin sisters, Brielle and Audrey, were getting their dream come true. Since they were little they had been dreaming of getting to live in their grandparent s house. The old two story white house held so many memories. Today, it looked different than it had when they were young. The white paint was beginning to chip, and the blue shutters had faded from the royal blue they once were. The girls stood on the massive wrap around porch looking up at the house. Growing up, this house had been like a second home to them. Brielle and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brielle turned the brass door handle and pushed open the old wooden door and went inside, followed by Audrey. Right away, they got to work cleaning. They were in the kitchen when their mom walked in the house to help. Their mom lived about ten minutes away, and the girls knew that she was more than willing to come help them get moved in. Hey, I m so glad you re here! exclaimed Audrey. Yeah, so am I, we still have a lot to do. agreed Brielle. Alright girls, I ll finish the kitchen if you two want to move on to the bedrooms. Hopefully you ll be able to stay here tonight. instructed Mom. They left their mom in the kitchen, and went upstairs to the bedrooms. They started with what had been the guest bedrooms, there were three of them, and saved their grandmother s room for last. A few hours later, they were onto their grandmother s room. Their mother was still working on the downstairs. Well, here we are... Audrey sighed, looking around the room. This room looks the same as it did when Grandma lived here, it seems so wrong to move everything. Brielle said, feeling guilty. The room s maroon flowered wallpaper was still intact, and it was equipped with the same bedroom outfit their grandparents had purchased after their wedding. The bed still had the multicolored quilt their great grandmother had made as a wedding gift so many years before. We have to do it though, it s our house now, and we need the rooms. Grandma would ... • 5. The Effect Of Leadership And Teachers On Students Achievement Abstract Each school in Australia strives to create an environment in which all students have equal access to quality education which can enable them to become successful contributors to society. This paper aims to examine the research on the effect of leadership and teachers on student achievement. It will examine the research on leadership styles and the effects that leadership has on teachers and student achievement. Introduction Australia, like most developed nations, has seen dramatic educational reforms over the past 60 years, with the desire to improve student achievement and create a productive workforce and economy. Our education system must allow each individual to reach their potential regardless of their economic means and enable them to live a life of meaning and purpose (Teaching Talent). The shift in educational practice has been a result of a greater understanding of what actually impacts students achievement. The 1960 s to present day has seen a significant shift in the idea that student achievement is solely dependent on the social background of the student to the current view that schools via teachers and leadership can have a significant effect on student achievement. The teacher has the greatest impact on student learning but a teacher does not exist in isolation. The principal plays a significant role in providing high impact policies and practices which support teachers and therefore indirectly has an impact on student achievement. Research ... • 6. Policies in Relation to Abortion Policies in Relation to Abortion Before and After the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Case New Mexico State University Jennifer Walker Abstract The Roe versus Wade Supreme Court Case has had a huge impact on abortion laws in the United States. Before 1973, abortions were illegal and criminal, with few exceptions. Overnight, the decision in the case legalized first trimester abortions while leaving the specifications of the other trimesters up to the states. This case has led to many debates over the value of life and when life begins whether at conception, independence from mother, or first breath. All of these can be defined by religion, law, or individual beliefs. Unfortunately, none of the policies before or after Roe versus Wade have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the number of abortions has definitely increased from after the Roe versus Wade case, this is likely do to the reporting of abortions rather than the legality of the abortions. Ideological/Value Perspective Both the value one places on life and the question of when life begins plays a huge role in the debate over abortion. Though people who are not part of a religion or are not spiritual have their own beliefs, much of the debate does come from a religious perspective. So when does human life begin? Some believe it is the moment of conception, others at the time when the baby can live independently from the mother, and still others believe it is when the baby takes his/her first breath. This is important because depending on when a person believes a life is valuable or that a fetus becomes a person, may make an impact on whether or not an individual is for or against abortion. As stated earlier, religion plays a large role in a person s beliefs as well. According to Stephens, Jordens, Kerridge, and Ankeny (2010), the Catholic and Lutheran religions believe life begins at conception and that this life has to right to live. Some Catholics even believe abortion is homicide. For the Jewish faith, conception is the beginning of life; however, the mother s already existing life is more important than the fetus. If the mother s life is at risk, an abortion may be an option. In Islam, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every day we are exposed to microorganisms that may or may not be fatal to our health. Imagine getting an Eagle Alert saying that there has been a recent outbreak of Ebola in the Hattiesburg area. What would you do? It is not up to use to handle the situation but it is up to the World Health Organization (WHO) to respond to a terrifying event such as that. II. Significance: WHO s are the people that we count on to keep the world a safer place from dangerous diseases. It shines a light on how effective the World Health Organization response is towards the outbreak of Ebola. III. Credibility: WHO.int gives credits to what their responses are and why it is important to the world. IV. Specific Purpose Statement and Central Idea: Although WHO s is an organization for controlling the outbreaks of virtuous diseases, many people may want to know what is going on within the worlds health organization. There are some agreements and disagreements to WHO s continuation of handling the situation. Today, I will inform my audience about why WHO s should or should not handle the Ebola situation. V. • 8. Differences Between Holistic And Integrated Theories The differences between integrated and holistic theories begin with the argument that holistic theories try to describe all appearances of criminal actions through one catch all approach. Now an integrated method does not attempt to explain all criminality. However, it incorporates concepts from various sources/disciplines/and or paradigms. I am a supporter of the unified theories. When you have phenomena like a crime that can be produced in so many different ways, there must be a multi level approach to keeping it under control (Schmalleger, 2012). It is the duty of criminology and criminal justice professions that we maintain a peaceful society. I am must say that Robert Agnew s general theory of crime and delinquency makes a powerful ... Analysis Of Dale Carnegie s On Skills As A Business Owner TO: Mr. Jes Methipara, Aspiring business owner FROM: Ms. Samantha Nartadam, Student DATE: December 14, 2015 RE: Techniques to Consider Your desire to start your own business is admirable. Dale Carnegie s How to Win Friends and Influence People would assist you in furthering your business. Please consider the following techniques when cultivating your skills as a business owner. What s in it for them? Many times, people only care about how they will be benefitting in any situation. Because of this, business owners always need to think about what their employees or consumers will be getting out of any transaction. This is the most effective way to win them over. Business owners need to clearly illustrate the benefits for those who have their company in consideration. According to Dale Carnegie, he was once approached by the company that owns the grand ballroom that he lectures in. The company said that they were going to be charging Carnegie at a higher price. Rather than speaking from his own experience, Carnegie explained to the company how charging him more would actually be detrimental to their company. By only speaking calmly about the company and not himself, he was able to effectively convince the company not to overcharge him. In my personal life, if I ever want to convince someone to do what I desire, I always lay out how it would benefit them. • 10. Walden Two Research Paper The bond between parent and child is something that is truly special. The television show Gilmore Girls redefined the parent child relationships on more than just television. Television shows of the past have often kept the lives of the parent and the child separate whereas the two main characters of Lorelai and Rory break this mold. They put out an example for all viewers on how the child and parent can function in the same realm. For them, spending the night watching movies together isn t some kind of forced bonding, but a time to actively seek each other s company. But this bond does more than just solidify a mother daughter friendship, it allows them to support each other through life s worst and best moments. There are boundaries that ... Things like the use of role models, some form of separation within marriage and community support are all things that could drastically help to shape the lives of our children. Giving a child a sense of community and belonging is something pivotal in their lives. Without the communities that have always surrounded me, I would not be the same person. • 11. Metalhead Subculture Research Paper Heavy metal music has been around now for quite some time now and over the decades has been collecting more and more enthusiasts. Within the heavy metal scene there are many different types of groups and subcultures but really only two that stand out. One type of subculture within the heavy metal industry is the true believers who trust in everything heavy metal has to offer and will pride themselves on going against the norm and challenge society. The second type of subculture is the one who enjoys the music and tends to be less intense when considering themselves as heavy metal enthusiasts. The ladder of the two subgroups is pretty straightforward and can be understood much easier than the former. The former subgroup, or the true believers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Subcultureslist use the word adolescents but this can be applied to all followers of heavy metal. The Subcultureslist asks the question, Are metalheads more reckless than other adolescents? (subcultureslist.com). This question has been asked before, and The Subcultureslist raise points about common stereotypes about Metalheads that supposedly show how irresponsible they are. Some of these are about their driving skills such as being intoxicated or driving at high speeds. Others are about their likeliness to try drugs, such as marijuana and/or cocaine, or how they are more likely to vandalize property and shoplift. Some view that the genre of heavy metal influences these actions and promotes violence, referring back to their slamdancing or moshing. However, a perfect example to discredit this theory is looking at a subculture within Botswana, Africa. This subculture group is consistent of black Botswanans who take their heavy metal image very seriously. They are dressed in black leather, studs, and concert t shirts and are considered very fashionable within their own society. BENNER S THEORY FROM NOVICE TO EXPERT AND ITS ROLE IN APRN PRACTICE Gagandeep Sandhu Samuel Merritt University Patricia Benner s theory From Novice to Expert is based on the concept of nurses developing skills and understanding of the patients care overtime which comes from their continued efforts towards trying to achieve strong education and personal experience. The theory explains the five levels of nursing experience: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert. Starting from novice where they don t have any experience and simply follow instructions, nurses finally reach the expert level transitioning through different levels where they rely on their experience rather than principles or guidelines to connect situations and determine actions. Their performance is fluid, flexible, and highly proficient at this level. Benner stresses on skills through experience as a prerequisite for becoming an expert nurse (Nursing world, 2013). Benner s theory gives a hope to new nurses and nurse practitioners in a way that experience brings expertise. Benner emphasizes on professional growth within the organization with increased experience. This theory provides a useful structure for practice development and marks out the difference between the functioning of novice and experienced nurses (Lyneham, Parkinson Denholm (2009). It emphasizes on the power of expertise and empowers the nurse to expand her knowledge. It validates the clinical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once my family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts were not so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to Punta Cana, falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. It can be seen as a scary unknown or being able to push forward without knowing what s ahead or around you. When someone looks at their past, they normally see places filled with both light memories and dark memories. Emily Dickinson was a poet whose life had many places of darkness. In her poem, We Grow Accustomed to the Dark, she is able to look through the darkness as a new beginning. She doesn t allow it to consume her entirely. This contrasts Robert Frost s, Acquainted with the Night he shows a person who becomes enveloped by the darkness and the finality of it. Both authors use the entrance into the darkness as a goodbye to someone or something, but in Dickinson s poem, it s as if the person is ready to leave on their own terms. Whereas in Frost s he makes it seem like it was a decision that was regretted and not fully the character s choice. • 21. Abortion And The Second Presidential Debate Essay I have chosen to write about abortion and its role in the third presidential debate of 2016. To begin, we need to understand abortion and how it is received in the United States before we try to understand how the current candidates addressed abortion. Abortion has been a hot button topic in the United States since Roe vs. Wade in 1973 when criminalizing abortion was considered unconstitutional under the Due Process clause of the 14th amendment. This trial created a nationwide debate on not only the legalization of abortion but also the restrictions and regulations. To best understand the topic, it is best we look at both sides of the issue. Pro Life or anti abortion activists often argue that the fetus is a human immediately after fertilization, resulting in murder or killing innocent human beings. Pro Choice or Pro abortion activists often argue that regardless of the status of the fetus, women should have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. According to the National Abortion Federation on prochoice.org, abortion was common and openly used around the time of the creation of the constitution. In the mid 1800 s abortion became illegal state by state, the reasoning behind criminalization varied by state but it was believed there was a fear the population would be primarily children of immigrants rather that Anglo Saxon women if abortion remained legal. The third debate primarily focused on later term abortions. Typically abortions are considered late term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Puritan Beliefs In John Winthrop s A City Set On A Hill A City set on a Hill is a phrase that became popularized in the American politics, and it emanates from the parable of Salt and Light in the New Testament. In Matthew 5:14, Jesus tells the crowd that was listening to him, You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden (New King James Version). John Winthrop, an English Puritan lawyer, had a vision for Boston that it would be A City Set on a Hill. This is a vision that has over the years been replicated by the United States of America as it has strived to set an example on the world stage as a beacon of freedom and hope for the entire world. The phrase a city set on a hill refers to a society that others people will look up to (Morgan 76). By using this phrase, Winthrop describes the Massachusetts Bay colony, which he supposed would turn out to be an outstanding example of Puritan faultlessness. Although this phrase has a religious undertone, it can be used to describe the aspects that the United States ought to emulate. • 31. A Diagnostic Tool For Renal Disease And Hypertensive... Introduction Proteinuria is often used to detect the presence of any type of proteins in the urine and serves as a diagnostic tool for renal disease and hypertensive disorders. Among those disorders, pre eclampsia is characterized by low renal perfusion and leakage of proteins in urine due to a damaged glomerular base membrane (1). This condition is associated with a high risk of maternal complications and prenatal mortality. Pre eclampsia is usually defined as a combination of hypertension, edema and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation and is determined by a threshold of 300mg/24 hours of proteins (2). Normal urine excretion is up to 150mg/day (3). The most common test used in antenatal care to screen proteinuria is the visual reagent dipstick. It is a semi quantitative and colorimetric method. The stick changes colour when the reagent (tetrabromophenol) binds to the proteins. The binding is pH dependent (albumin binds at a pH between 5 and 7, other proteins bind only at a pH below). If the urinalysis by the dipstick is positive, a 24 hour urine collection is performed in order to confirm the proteinuria and to estimate the total amount of protein (4). Another method available for detecting proteinuria is called the Bradford assay. This quantitative method is based on the binding of proteins with the dye Coomassie Blue which increases the absorption of the dye at 595nm. • 34. Azide Lab Report The antagonistic effect of glutamine on Azide 1 mediated light production was tested by increasing the glutamine concentration from 0.1 to 5mM. The results show a dose dependent inhibition of BLI signal by L glutamine in HT1080 luc2 and HepG2 luc2 cells. This reduction confirms the signal obtained by Azide 1 was due to the competitive interference with glutamine uptake. However, a fall in the light intensity could not be observed in 4T1 RLR cells. This outcome does not mean that Azide 1 did not compete with L glutamine for the transporter mediated uptake. The reason of no effect observed is because 4T1 RLR which is a more glucose dependent cell line doesn t have a good affinity for L glutamine (Fig. 7A), but binds well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 10A). Hence, this proves that L glutamine wouldn t have many chances to compete with Azide 1 for transporter binding. To confirm the exact potential mechanism involved in the uptake of Azide 1, a competitive inhibition was carried out in glutamine dependent cancer cell lines: HT1080 luc2, U87MG luc2 and HepG2 luc2 using the specific inhibitor GPNA for the system ASCT2. The reason for choosing to test the involvement of this specific type of transporter in the uptake of Azide 1 is because the signal produced by Azide 1 in HT1080 luc2 and HepG2 luc2 cells could be reduced in the antagonistic effect assay by using L glutamine which is the natural competitor for binding to glutamine transporter systems ASC and N. It was also figured out in this study that HepG2 luc2, HT1080 luc2 and U87MG luc2 express the ASCT2 transporter on the cell surface. GPNA decreased the signal intensity in HT1080 luc2 and U87MG luc2 cells. This decrease confirms the potential involvement of ASCT2 transporter in Azide 1 uptake.
