Progressive Prank Protection Commercial Examples
The two ads I chose were the Nationwide Baby commercial and the Progressive prank protection
commercial. I chose these ads because they show a practical product, that most people use, in an
funny and unrelated way. The nationwide ad shows a man taking care of a baby as if it is a car.
This commercial is used to promote car insurance. The progressive ad shows agents Flo and Jamie
sneaking around in the night pulling off their own version of pranks: fixing mailboxes, replacing
windows, and leaving paper bags with money on doorsteps. This commercial is used to promote
home insurance. Nationwide and Progressive are two well known insurance companies.
The first ad I will talk about is the Nationwide Baby ad. The ad starts off with a man washing his
baby in his driveway the same way one would wash a car (Nationwide). The ad goes on to show
car related situations with a baby like running into a fire hydrant, car repair shop, and in a
grocery store parking lot. The ad shows how Nationwide will protect what s precious to you by
making it precious to them. Therefore, just like a baby is precious and people will do anything to
protect their baby, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who own cars would likely watch this ad because they may want to change insurance
companies or to confirm their decision in getting Nationwide. People who may be thinking
about changing their insurance may watch this ad and see a company that really value other
peoples possessions and work with them. This concept can be very persuasive in attracting
people who are looking for a new insurance company. Therefore, if a person is looking for an
insurance company that has good service and truly cares, then the Nationwide Baby ad would be
a good start of them choosing a new insurance company. For people who already are Nationwide
customers can be assured that they are a part of a caring company

Charles XII Of Sweden
Charles XII of Sweden King of Sweden from 1697 to 1718 Charles belonged to the House of
Palatinate ZweibrГјcken. He was the only surviving son of Charles XI and Ulrika Eleonora the
Elder and he assumed power at the age of fifteen. In the year 1700, the triple alliance of Denmark
Norway, Saxony Poland Lithuania and Russia attacked a Swedish protectorate and various
provinces in order to get an advantage over Sweden s young and inexperienced leader, which
launched the Great Northern War. Charles was able to lead the Swedish Army and forced all of
his adversaries to submit, except for Russia. Charles was regarded as a skilled military leader and
tactician in his time, as well as a knowledgeable politician, as he created important tax and legal...

many people put their hopes on due to his efforts to bring the world out of the economic downturn.

Spoiled, Brat, Snitch, And Hypocrite
Spoiled, Brat, Snitch, and Hypocrite are four words that described my twenty year old sister
Jessica Bunn. Today, four years later I think of her in a completely different way. She has taught
me so many things and helped shape me into the woman I am today. Even though we are
thousands of miles apart we still share an inseparable bond. My sister has not always been a
positive influence but she has matured into one of the best women I know. Over the next few
minutes I will be talking about how mine and my sister s relationship hasn t always been great,
but over the years she has become my best friend and for this reason my sister has and will
forever influence my life in a positive way. Mine and my sister s relationship is far from perfect.
When I was younger up until high schoolour relationship was at its worst. We were constantly
bickering about anything and everything. My sister treated me badly, but I craved her
attention. She left me at home and went out with her friends, but for some reason I was drawn
to her. I always tried to impress her and wanted her to like me. No matter what she said or did to
me, I still wanted to be her best friend. I recall one day after school when I was 7 my sister was
babysitting me as she always did. We had been watching TV and I got up to make some popcorn.
While I was doing my usual dancing routine waiting for the microwave to stop I heard a giant
thud. I ran back to see my sister lying there in the living room floor gasping for air.

Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults
2.1, Explain the skills needed to communicate with children and young people.
To be able to effectively communicate with children and young people you must first understand
how to speak appropriately for the Childs age level, cognitive level or language ability. For
example, while speaking to a child which has English as an Additional Language, you would need
to speak slower, with lots more annunciation and facial expression. To show them that they have
my full attention I would repeat what they had said, correcting where necessary but giving a great
deal of praise.
When children are very young, always bring yourself down to their level. Sit on the ground next to

To immediately put the person at their ease I would first make a comment which is completely
different to what the topic of our conversation needs to be. For example, how much I like their
shoes, how did they do at football over the weekend or what good films have they watched
recently. Once I believe I have asked enough questions that are personal to them and can see that
they are starting to open up to me I would gradually start bringing up what the main purpose of our
chat was meant to be. This could be anything from, what has caused arguments to be arising lately
with certain individuals or why they are starting to struggle with certain activities. However, they
must always understand that your are their teaching assistant and not their buddy or parent.
Communication differences There are many different factors to take into consideration when
communicating with children or young adults. Their age, ie a 4 yr old, will not have heard as
many words as an 11 yr old, so the vocabulary has to be kept simpler. Children with learning
disabilities, such as ADD, ADHD or ASD have to have instructions given to them one at a time, as
their brains cannot compute multiple instructions. They may need to be repeated

Comparison Of Two Creation Stories
Daniyar Sadyk
Paper #1; Topic #4
1+1: Completion and Justification
Creation stories have shaped the way people come to see gender relations. While some have
formed egalitarian viewpoints, most of the people have supported hierarchical notions. The reason
for this division is the existence of two different creation stories that are contradicting each other.
And the real question is not if there are differences or not. But if there is a purpose to these
differences? Indeed, there is. First, men have used Creation 2 to justify their actions and to keep
the patriarchal system working. Second, these two stories simply complete each other. With the
second story, Genesis became an excuse for men to rule over the women. In the first story, God
creates everything in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genesis 1 has a broad outline which shows how God created the Earth. The author gives a general
account of the creation. Genesis 1 does not have any detailed information in it, but rather some
overview on what happened. However, people want to know not just how our world was created,
but also how exactly humankind came to life. And Genesis 2 successfully explains how God
created man from the dust, and woman from the man s ribs. It has many details that the first story
does not. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that the first story is more chronological and general,
whereas the second one is topical. The first story summarizes the whole process, while the second
is more specific about man and his environment. Moreover, the second story could never be the
only creation story because it does not have a sufficient information needed to explain how God
created the Earth. For example, there is no mention of the creation of the day and night. There are
no explanations how the oceans and fish were generated. Clearly, these two stories are
complementary as they are supplying each other s

The Rosewood Chocolate Industry
Rosewood, a name recognized by most and was considered almost as highly as the Queen. Well,
that was, until they went entirely bankrupt. The Rosewood s were a company that produced the
highest quality sweets in all of England, but for decent prices, however this was how they stayed
in business for nearly a decade but they were outdone by the Jeffries that started to make the same
quality of candies for even less money. That was the true downfall of the Rosewood chocolate
industry. With the fall of the company, cash began to dwindle and their normally weighted wallets
began to get lighter and lighter. This happened until their house was foreclosed on, and they were
practically dragged from their manor with a whole lot of screaming of course.... Show more content

Though, for little Arthur, this had the greatest toll. Moving from a large mansion, in the
country, to a small, in city, flat was a major change. Yet, this was not the worst so far. The worst
surprisingly was the fact he was going to have to start to wash himself and help clean with his
mum. Dan found this topic confusing, so now he stood over the water filled sink with wide
eyes, nails dug into a dishrag they had gotten from a shop from the outer city. How was he to do
this? Mum was out doing some garden work for the woman down the road, picking flowers for a
few pounds and father was out trying to get a job in a corporation that made low end clothing.
This was the least small Danny could do to help them out. He had to figure this out, he thought,
he needed to be a big boy and get himself together. Alright. He cleared his throat, placing his cloth
to the side of the sink, his little hands trembling as he lowered them to the dishes. He felt sick. It
smelled putrid and looked grimy. Though he lost his money, he still held his dignity and snobby
attitude. Ew! He jerked back once he came contact with a little splat of old tomato sauce, wiping

Essay Ender s Game Book Report
Born To Lead In the novel Ender s Game by Orson Scott Card, the main character Ender is put up
against one of the toughest challenges on his life. He becomes aware of his challenge when he
becomes a little older, yet before that, little did he know that he will have to save the world.
Ender in Enders Game is portrayed as a natural leader and fighter who is a killer at heart and can
use his understanding of the enemy and natural skill to kill to destroy them. However, once he
understands his enemy, he also feels compassion for his enemy. And because of this compassion,
he hates himself for destroying his enemy. At the beginning of the story, Ender lives with one

This is shown when Ender was playing a game on his computer. While he was playing the game,
he kept dieing over and over again because he had no choice in the game. Nevertheless, after he
got frustrated, he bore into the Giant s eye in the game until it died. This shows that no matter
how hard he tries he will always have the want to kill. This is shown when it said, I am a
murderer even when I play, Peter would be proud of me. Not only was Ender a killer at heart,
but also a natural leader in battle school. Ender started off as a launchy in battle school and got
no respect. But soon, he was being promoted at an extreme rate. By the time his launchy friends
became parts of armies, he was already a commander of an army. Ender was surrounded by kids
twice his size since he was promoted so early. At first, it was very hard for him because he was
so small. Soon though, he was at the top of the ranks with respect from all of the kids in the
school, no matter how big or small. Ender learned quickly and perfectly, he could get almost
anyone to follow him. Enders great leadership can be seen in this quote, The soldiers knew by
now that Ender could be brutal in the way he talked to groups, but when he worked with an
individual he was always patient, explaining as often as necessary, making suggestions quietly,
listening to questions and problems and explanations. A final defining incident was between Ender
and the Buggers. Ender was always

Carp Baits in Winter
Well it doesn t seem five minutes since I last penned an article for carp.com bathed in the warm
autumn sun, yet here I am sat on a cold winter s night underneath my Nash Viper Bivvy with a
bright moonlit sky above me.
With thousands of stars apparent to even my poor eyesight, I can tell site its going to be a cold
one and considering I am the only one here it looks like most anglers have already given up this
year. To be honest that s plain daft as although you won t catch as many carp in the winter as you
do in summer they are catch able all year round. Look at the likes of Dave Lane, Ian Chillcott and
Jim Shelley; even on the hardest understocked waters they can winkle em out and so can you. ...

Maggots have a huge advantage over boilies and the like they move!! That little bit of movement
seems to inspire the carp into having a go. You can simply hook them onto a hook as you d do
with any bait or as I do you can thread them onto a piece of fine line and hair rig them on. This
keeps them very lively and allows you to have anything from six to sixty maggots at once. Tie the
line to the hook and away you go. If you have water filled of nuisance fish you may need to
regularly recast. I tend to fish a bunch of live maggots over sine scalding dead maggots and it
works a treat. Don t be tempted to put maggots in your mouth to warm them up before use a hook
bait. Firstly it s a fail habit and secondly the shock of the maggots going from the warm mouth to a
cold lake will stop their movement full stop.... Don t fall for that old wives tail.
Sweet corn it s very visual, has great attraction qualities and carp love it in cold. It s much better
than Maize and you can either hook it on or use it on a hair rig. I tend to use mine neat out of the
cans but soak in Nutabaits Sweet Cajouser favour is a definite winner. When fishing it try using it
over liquidised sweet corn. Lots of attraction but the only piece they can find to eat has a hook in
it; deadly!
Worms as with maggots that bit of life can annoy or excite carp into having a go . Always use
them on the hook as a worm on a hair will tie it in knots and have you pulling your hair out. A
brilliant stalking bait especially when you can see the fish you are

Loan Proposal For Payday Loans
What if you were down on your luck, and short a couple hundred dollars for an electricity bill,
and the power company was threatening to turn off your power and none of your friends or
family members could help you out? What if you went to your employer and asked for an
advance on your pay, and they denied you? With the looming threat of losing power and the fees
laid on top to get reconnected, it may be easy to lose hope. There is, however, an entire financial
industry set up to help with such problems. A payday lender is probably nearby that will provide
you a small, short term loanto help you get back on your feet. Payday loans come in many forms,
but generally speaking, they are small ($375 on average), short term (one to two weeks), high
interest (391% API average) loans. Advocates for payday loans argue that the loans are available
for people who have emergencies like sudden medical expenses, and are available when alternate
sources of money are unavailable, or when the alternatives may be more expensive. Opponents of
payday loans point out the fact that a broad majority of payday loans are not used for unexpected
expenses, but are rather used for recurring expenses. Opponents also argue that, while the loans are
advertised as being short term, in reality, a significant fraction of customers use payday loans
repeatedly, and get trapped in a cycle of debtthat is exploitative. These people argue for state and
sometimes federal regulations to curb the exploitative

Big Trouble in Little Baltimore
The past one hundred and fifty years of Baltimore s history have included many turbulent
fluctuations in the way the city manages to thrive during the vast changes in how consumer related
products are manufactured. One of the most important ingredients to the city s prosperity is in a
mineral called chromite. Chromite is typically found in acidic soil along with serpentinite rock, a
dark green brittle rock in the soapstone family. During the late nineteenth century, chromite
suddenly became a hot commodity as it was discovered in abundance on what is now a federally
protected reserve called Soldier s Delight, located just northwest of BaltimoreCity. At that time, the
land was ripe for mining and chromite was found to be very versatile in the manufacturing of many
items that were, at that time, unavailable like yellow and red paint, tanned leather, bricks for firing
kilns, and, the most valuable use of all, chrome. The mining operation at Soldier s Delight suddenly
went full throttle during the early part of the twentieth century and Baltimore was seated in the
perfect location for transporting these new products to places all over the world due to its
connection to the Chesapeake Bay. However, the processing plant that received the mined chromite
was not conscientious enough with the oxidized discharge from the chromite and allowed it to seep
into the soil beneath the plant and enter into the groundwater. The effects were not known at the
time, but the plant was doing the

The Need For Theory And Theorizing
2.2 THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Obviously the topic of human is limitless. Its scope is so
diffused, broad and massive that we find it difficult to comprehend, think, examine and analyze.
In brief we need to wear some sort of scientific lenses by which we can catch the world of
observation in order to explain, predict and influence the course of actions. THE NEED FOR
THEORY AND THEORIZING According toKeIIy(1999, P. 18). Theory is a way of finding
together all together a multitude of facts so that one may comprehend them all at once . In a
similar vein, (Sharer Ashmore: 2002, P. 50) sees theory as a set of interrelated ideas about a
phenomena, which provides the framework for its explanation . (Jonathan,1997 P.10)
succinctly puts the issue in these terms. Theorizing can be viewed as the means by which the
intellectual activity known as science realizes it is three principal goals these include: (1) To
classify and organize events in the world so that they can be placed into perspectives. (2) To
explain the courses of past events and predict when, and events will occur and (3) To offer and
intuitively pleasing, sense of understanding why and how events should occur. Scholars have
advanced plethora of views and theories in a bid to provide an explanation of the wide ranging
multifaceted ideas of how social life is organized (KolIak: 1985, P. 223). On the other hand, a
theory is a set of ideas, which provides as explanation for something. This is in view of the fact that

Challenges Facing The U.s. Vocational Training System
The challenges facing the U.S. vocational training system today low community college
completion rates and skill mismatch, in particular are the legacy of a long history of conflict
between employers, employees, and unions over how to train American workers. If the government
tried to address the current challenges without accounting for this history, their policy proposals
would likely be impractical and incomplete. Our goal is thus to review the history of vocational
training in search for lessons that indicate what policies and programs have the highest probability
of success today.
We focus on two persistent historical challenges for American vocational training: balancing
employer demands with economic mobility for trainees, and coordinating investment and skills
certification between employers, training institutions, trainees, and government. These are the
obstacles that any policy will need to work around or overcome. For example, if successful
apprenticeship programs have succeeded only where employers associations and workers groups
coordinate training, it is unlikely that a regional or national apprenticeship policy can succeed
without buy in from employers and employees willing to agree on a system of certification and
cost sharing. The two sections below will explore how these challenges arose, why they have
persisted, and what they mean for current efforts to reform the vocational training system.

Diversity And Originality Of The Philippine Culture In The...
The diversity and originality of the Philippine culture are outstanding and is heavily influenced
by the Spanish, who brought their own to spice up Philippine s culture, religion, lifestyle, and
way of thinking. It all dates back during 1564; it is one of the most significant years of the
Philippine history for it is a year in which the invasions on the Filipinos by New Spain led by
Miguel LГіpez de Legazpi were successful. It was not until later, however, when Legazpi and the
Spanish created perennial settlements around the coasts of Cebu despite heavy opposition from the
Cebuanos. Additionally, the Spanish sought after up and running, albeit small, communities
without central governing figures to perhaps strengthen the rule of the Governor General Legazpi.
Around this time, religion began playing a significant role in the Philippines as the Filipinos were
divided between Muslim and Catholic rule. The former deemed more dominant as the group was
much larger than the former, however, things were bound to change under Legazpi and the
Spaniards. Generally speaking, the number of Muslims in Mindanao and Sulu were much higher
than in Visayas and Luzon as the organizations were bigger and more organized, thus it was easier
to start with smaller groups. The Spanish took this opportunity and decided to Catholicize the small
communities before spreading the religion into a much bigger scale. It became the root of the
conflict between Muslim Filipinos and Christian Filipinos. On

The Real Creative Power Of Henry Mancini s Music Choices
A film is an art form. Composer, Henry Mancini, once said, the real creative power is in the mind
and heart of the composer. Henry Mancini was the composer for Touch of Evil and Breakfast at
Tiffany s. While these two films may seem like they don t connect with each other at any point,
they do and it is with Henry Mancini. By examining Touch of Evil and Breakfast at Tiffany s
through the lens of Henry Mancini s music choices we can see that Mancini s music choices were
just as important as Blake Edwards, director. Many people like to think that the directors of a film
are the authors of a film compared to screenwriters but Mancini challenges that theory, especially
with his work in Touch of Evil and Breakfast at Tiffany s. In these... Show more content on

At 23:19 the same bongos are going but it s much faster and the trumpets that were playing when

where Vargas is riding with Schwartz it is a mariachi band playing which doesn t seem like it

you would think Mancini would have had fast bongos like before. However, because at this

Mancini places it here for the audience to not forget where they are and why it is important to
remember that this is set in Mexico. At 54:08 where the Grandi boys are at the motel that same
music from the beginning and at scene 52:50 is playing and this is where Suzie ask them to turn

they are very lively and are not really calm they are trying to mess things up for Vegas so it s
fitting to have this fast jazz playing. 1:09:46 it s back at the motel with Suzie but this music

Should Drinking Age Be Moved To 21 Essay
The drinking age should not be moved to 21, some people are suggesting moving it to age 18.
Even some states agree with the people. This law will only apply to beer. Liquor will not be
included do to high Alcohol percentage. People are against it because they think the under age
drinkers will not be responsible enough to take care of the, selves or other people around them.
People think, lowering the drinking age will cause lots of problems in the community. Today s
adults are still waiting for the youth to show them how responsible we are without drinking
before we grab a beer and drink it. Living without being concern if we re safe or not, is not just a
stereotype. Stories about teenaged robberies and violence are all over the place, so why should
we give these children what they want? People who are against lowered drinking know already
that teenagers will drink regardless if its illegal or legal , so lowering the drinking age won t show

One of the most pure senses of love comes from what is displayed by all of Fonny s and Tish s
friends as the try and help Tish and her family free Fonny from jail. Fonny and Tish, during
Fonny s stay in jail have become like Source D s fallen bird. What they both need is for people to
come and lift the fallen bird abandoned on the ground, (Source D) and as time wears on, that is
ultimately what their friends come and do. After Fonny is arrested and they re forced to give up
their loft, Levy, the man renting out the space to Fonny and Tish, calls Tish and tells her that
she can have her money back, anytime she wanted it, and even tells her that the loft stays empty
until your man gets out of jail. (Baldwin, 133) While it isn t much, this act of kindness helps to
tie into the central idea that If Beale Street Could Talk is a story about the human capacity to
love. Fonny, as we see in Source F, is like the man that is lost at sea. He s all alone, with sharks,
or jailmates, circling him, and desperately needs a friends help. Thankfully, more of Fonny s
friends do help him out of the love they have for their friend, whether their help directly helps him

The On The Ma Bay Colony
14.Roger Williams
Living in the MA Bay colony, this minister believed the Puritans needed to form a break from the
Church of England, as well as a break between government and Church. He also believed the
taking of Indian land without proper compensation was immoral. He was banished in 1635. By
1636, he had traveled to Rhode Island. He built a Baptist Church in Providence (most likely the
first Baptist Church in America). He founded Rhode Island as a place for ANYONE to worship
freely in, and eventually received charter rights for RI to be a legal colony in 1644.
Due to his beliefs, Williams created one of the most diverse and the most tolerant colony in
America (it fostered Jews, Catholics, and even Quakers).
15.Anne Hutchinson
A woman living in the MA Bay colony with the belief that if God had already decided what a
person s fate was (predestination), they had no reason to follow the laws of the society nor of
God. She was brought to trial in 1638 and banished from the colony. After traveling to both Rhode
Island and New York while pregnant and with her family, she and all but one of them were killed
by natives in the latter.
The effect this woman was her undermining of the Puritan/Congregational Church while she was
living in the colony. This was seen through the followers she gained during her time there, who
agreed with her beliefs and many of which eventually migrated to Rhode Island and New York.

The Use Of Veterinary Antibiotics
The widely used growth promoters are Antibiotics. It can be defined as any medicines that destroy
or inhibit bacterial growth and are administered at a low sub therapeutic dosage (Hughes and
Heritage, 2004).
There are various types of veterinary antibiotics (VA) like natural, synthetic compounds with
different antimicrobial activity are normally administered orally (Phillips et al., 2004). These are
used for disease control or as feed additives and synthetic growth promoters (SGP) in various
sectors such as livestock farming, aquaculture and agricultural activities (Aust et al., 2008, Gao et

29% for diarrhoea in cattle and pigs and 31% for locomotion disorders in cattle. (De Briyne,

The use of antibiotics in food animal production offers proven benefits in animal health and
production, as well as a reduction of foodborne pathogens (Mathew et al., 2007).
A main concern for human health is the development of antibiotic resistance in bacteria that can
cause disease in humans. While misuse of antibiotics in human medicine is a major cause of this
problem, antibiotic resistance originating from the use of antimicrobial growth promoter in animals
is a factor that can aggravate this global human health issue (WHO FAO, 2015).
However, the over use, misuse or lack of control in administration of antibiotics results in a high

My Participant Observation Of Marijuana
When I first started thinking about my participant observation I had numerous ideas of what I
could learn, but as I started to think about what I should do, then I realized I just started my own
participant observation that I was already extremely dedicated to so I decided I could write it
down for this class. My participant observationmight be different from others, but I was extremely
dedicated and devoted to learningeverything I could about the helpful benefits of marijuana if

pesticides to spray plants to exterminate the bugs and they must wear suits just to spray the
pesticides. Accordingly, I meet a truly experienced grower in the community which decided to

Technology And Space Exploration In Mary Shelley s...
With the help of technology, the world continues to advance rapidly and greatly. Transportation,
construction, and lifestyles have all grown to be more practical and are recognized as some of the
most changed industries, but those aren t the only things that have changed over time. Common
everyday items like medicine and school have been affected by growth in technology and new ideas
lead life to become more efficient. Although there are downsides to technology, for instance,
pollution and ethical problems, the benefits are much grander. The benefits of technology can be
shown through Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, through advanced health care, and through now

The Internet and space exploration opens doors for humans to expand their knowledge. It is
common knowledge to know that the journey to space is not an easy one. It was not until the
1942 that humans were able to develop the technology to send a man made object into outer space.
As a result of the need for space technology many things came to be invented as shown in this
passage, Space exploration has contributed to many diverse aspects of everyday life, from solar
panels to implantable heart monitors, from cancer therapy to light‐weight materials, and from
water‐purification systems to improved computing systems and to a global
search‐and‐rescue system (nasa.gov). Not only is new technology a beneficial result from
space missions but new knowledge and information is now known about the galaxy and more. The
information that has been discovered by these missions is available through one of the most
valuable resources in this era: the Internet. The Internet allows common people to research things
from hundreds of years back from nations far away. The Internet has an enormous amount of
publications added on it every day and it s evolving as the most powerful source of information
(cyberethics.info) shows the power that the Internet holds and how it benefits citizens trying to
expand their mind. Someone may claim that these technologies are not beneficial because not
everyone in the world has access to such technology. If science continues to advance at its current

Enlightenment Era Research Paper
The Enlightenment is marked as a period in time that challenged people to think for themselves.
While it did not mean removing a belief in God from a person s life, it usually meant refraining
from reliance on God and instead relying on oneself. Prior to the Enlightenment, there stood few
influential people in America who branched away from the Puritan lifestyle; however, that quickly
changed as changed during the Enlightenment period. J. Hector St. John de CrГЁvecoeur, Benjamin
Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine were important figures in the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries who exhibited an enlightened way of thinking, which helped to inspire the
thoughts of future generations. The influence of the Enlightenment on Benjamin Franklin... Show

Jefferson wrote of the self evident truths ...that all men are created equal and have inalienable
rights inclusive of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; ... (663). The concept of life, liberty,
and the pursuit of happiness endorsed the idea that when a person is able to determine their own
pursuits through their individual ability, they are able to discover their individual liberties. In
addition, the Enlightenment s ideology coursed through Thomas Jefferson s vision of a
government formed by deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed (663).
Jefferson and his peers believed in the liberal political thought that the people formed the
government, which was answerable to those they represented. Jefferson eschewed the idea of
absolute authority and tyrannical rule as he wrote, that whenever any form of government
becomes destructive...it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it. (663). He relayed the
enlightened intellectual s belief that it is the duty of the people to dispose of despotic regimes
(663). Of Particular interest is the idea that Thomas Jefferson and many American colonists
ascribed heartily enough to the progressive ideas of individualism and freedom that they were
willing to go against their governing

elaborate commonplace book, that showed the English public was keenly interested in the world
and in understanding how to categorize the knowledge about all the new things, people, and
cultures of which specimens and descriptions were now available to them. (109 110) Their thirst for
learning about the new was quenched by frequent plays, narratives and other writings by colonist,

and weather affect on Jamestown and the world s relation. It talks about the Little Ice Age, and how
the colder temperatures were compounded by unprecedented drought throughout North America in

Cultural Identity In Toni Morrison s White Teeth
In matters of race, silence and evasion have historically ruled literary discourse, says Toni
Morrison in her 1992 critical literacy piece Playing in the Dark . However, in White Teeth , we see
the opposite of this as Zadie Smith brings the matter right into the open, shedding new light on
problems of race and assimilation. The novel investigates post colonial European cultureand society

supposed ethnic purity to be corrupted by the English equivalent. It is a verbal assault on his

He now has created a separate identity for his affiliation to England. He has subconsciously

How Does Chlorine Kills Pathogens
Chlorine kills pathogens such as bacteria and viruses by breaking the chemical bonds in their
molecules. When chlorine is added to water, chloric acids forms: Cl2+H2O = HOCl + H+ + Cl .
Depending on the pH value, chloric acid partly expires to hypochlorite ions: HOCl = OCl + H+.
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ions (OCl ) will form free chlorinewhen bound
together, and they are primary disinfectants throughout the process. However, the chlorine dosage
has to be high enough to reach the breakpoint for a significant amount of chlorine to remain in the
water. When passing the breakpoint, the addition of chlorine to the water will only produce free
chlorine remains which is essential for disinfection.
Also, according to the theoretical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While disinfectant residual is important because (similar to the previous point) the more residual

as it travels from the plant to the consumers. Finally pH is important in influencing the degree of
disinfection provided by chlorination because pH determine the primary form of chlorine that
exists in the water. Without considering ammonia, at a pH lower than 7.5, most the chlorines are
HOCl; which is 80 90x more effective as a disinfectant than its counterpart OCl , which is the form
of chlorine that exists mostly when pH is greater than 7.5. In terms of chloramine, when the pH is
smaller than 4.5 it is mostly trichloramine (NCl3). When the pH is between 4.5 and 8.5 it is
mostly monochloramine and dichloramine (NH2Cl and NHCl2) and when the pH is greater than
8.5, then it is mostly monochloramine present (NH2Cl). Out of all three chloramines,
monochloramine is the most favoured since it is very effective in secondary disinfection due to
its stability, control over biofilms and lack of offensive odour and taste. Therefore, pH plays a
critical role in whether the chlorine exists as HOCl or monochloramine, which are the most
effective and favourable version of chlorine for

Analysis Of The Book Rush Men
Most everyone knows what Greg Hardy brings to the table. He was pro bowler in 2013. Hardy s
stacked up an average of 13 sacks and 40 solo tackles in his last two full seasons with the
Carolina Panthers. He s extremely explosive off the edge and has elite hands that make it almost
impossible to block him for an entire game. Hardy will be a huge upgrade for the Cowboys.
With one position improved in the rush men rotation, who else can the Cowboys count on to
contribute not only during Hardy s four game suspension but also for the entire season. For
starters, nobody should sleep on Jeremy Mincey. He doesn t get talked about much but he was
kind of the unsung hero of the Dallas pass rush last season leading the team in sacks with 6, and
QB pressures with 39. He was also named team captain after Justin Durant went on IR. This is a
contract year for him and at the age of 31 he won t see many more. With more help along the
defensive line he should get some more favorable match ups and have another nice season.
Tyrone Crawford didn t see snap his entire rookie season but last season was his coming out
party. The 2013 third round pick wrecks absolute havoc up the middle. There were several times
last season when Jeremy Mincey and Henry Melton got the credit for the sack but it was Crawford

Along with this, Reuben Greenberg believes that you have to look past a person s skin color and

people shouldn t judge someone just because of their race.
The subject of race can become very biased, and many people feel as if the justice system can be
racist towards minorities. In my opinion, race should not play a role in death penalty. Although
there are still many racist people in the world, crimes should be prosecuted based on the crime
committed, regardless of the person s race. Many white people are on death row currently for the
same crimes a minority might commit. In the world today, many controversial events have
happened dealing with race along with the justice system. For example, there have been multiple
incidents where a white officer has been charged with shooting a black person. It is thought that
if a white judge is sentencing a minority, the odds of the minority getting put on death row would
be in favor. A judge must have an opinion when it comes to sentencing a criminal, but it does not
always have to be the race card . The severity of the crime should be the real reason as to why a
person would be put on death row, not their skin color. If a minority commits a crime worthy of the
death sentence, the judge has the right to sentence that upon him, regardless of looking at his skin.

go into the new relationship with a negative attitude, behavior issues, and resentment toward their
step parent and sometimes the biological parent (Kostelnik, Whiren, Soderman, Gregory, 2009,

/child. The biological dyad usually wins the competition because of their knowledge, history and
interaction that they have built together and attachment that has taken place earlier in life (Dupuis,
2007; Pappernow, 1987). However, stepfamilies are not given the time to develop attachments with
one another. The reorganization of the family is taking place, a two parent home can bring financial

Snow Falling On Cedars And Snow Falling On Cedars
Becoming the Bridge Between Two Worlds Second generation immigrants are often forced to
become the bridge between two worlds, as their foreign parents hold on to cultural ties and
traditions, while the children grow up in a Western society with contrasting ways of life. The
works the End of East by Jen Sookfong Lee and the film Snow Falling on Cedars, directed by
Scott Hicks, prove that a struggle for identity can be overcome if one overlooks the dissimilarities
between two cultures. As seen in both works, the writers demonstrate how second generation
immigrants are faced with the challenge of finding their identities, as they feel torn between their
cultural practices and the influences of their Western upbringings; However, only after setting
aside the differences that clash the two cultures are they truly able to find a balance between the
two and discover who they are. Firstly, both the End of East and Snow Falling on Cedars involve
second generation immigrant protagonists in North America that struggle to keep their parents
happy and preserve their culture, while continuing to live their lives as individuals of the West.

Meadow Descriptive Writing
A crisp breeze bends, splits, and shifts the life around me as I slowly turn, taking in the wide,
open meadow. I am in a basin on a picturesque October morning under a soft, blue sky. The
mountain is remarkably bold, beautiful, yet, peaceful and right. Golden is the meadow with the
yellow leaves swaying on the branches casting their color above me and fallen leaves still
vibrant; light swirls and shines above and below. Some branches are bare as fall strips away
summer. This meadow situated in the basin of the San Francisco Peaks; a meadow with hay like
grass drying from these bracing waves of winds gives me goosebumps as I shiver my writing slants
downwards and then juts up. There is an underlying rattling from this grass all bending to the East
from these gusts. Pineneedles from the Ponderosas are sprinkled on the ground and crunch under
each step I take crunch, then scatter. I break apart these pine needles and other debris, even some
dry leaves from the aspens above.
A meadow with ponderosas, an incline with aspens, all situated on this vast mountain. The wind
touches all within its long reach from way up in the cloudless sky to the lowest it can extend,
picking up the dirt and blowing it back in my eyes as I write this under a swaying tree. Left then
right, and back again with each breeze it comes in waves: calm, a slight tickle as it brushes against
me, then slam, and calm again. The breeze sifts through the sand each particle blends into the next.

C. Wright Mills defines the meaning of work for white collar workers. A white collar workeris an
educated person who performs non manual, professional, managerial, or administrative work. He
states White Collar stands, after sixty years, as the most comprehensive work that American
social science has produced in the study of the new middle class. classifying white collar workers
as the new middle class full of intellectuals in intermediate positions, to what he describes as the
enormous file of clerical labor. C. Wright Mills connects the meaning of work for white collar
workers to the types of leisure activity they pursue. Modern white collar workers attach an extrinsic
value to their wage work because they work to live. Jobs have lost their intrinsic value due to the
emptiness that comes with the job. For example, white collar workers are subjected to
manipulations and control of their superiors thus in return; they lose their creativity and freedom of
action.
White collar workers are a different breed of workers. The results derived from work that modern
white collar workers value includes status, power and wages. At times, these white collar jobs hold
no true meaning to white collar workers rather it the monetary value that drives productivity. This
money is means to a different life outside of work.

possibility of achieving anything starting from nothing... I wanted to match his accomplishment,
bringing an age of illumination to the world. (Moore XI, 8, 8 9). Through following the footsteps
of Alexander the Great, Adrian continued his legacy by Adopting Rameses the Second s Greek

Super Bowl Argument
There are more than a few reasons people watch the super bowl. Some watch for the game
(surprisingly not the majority), some watch for commercials or good deals, etc. Whatever makes
people watch, makes the super bowl one of the most watched games every year. I saw a few really
good commercials during the gameand a few commercials that make me believe that a new
generation is upon us with a T Mobile commercial that used word playto joke about marijuana and
other commercials that were very.... Sexy? With all of this being said I am one of the viewers
who tune in for the actual game. I was scheduled to work Sunday night during the super bowl so
naturally as a footballfan I called off so I could catch the game, for homework of course. The game

The Plague Of Capitalism And Offshore Banking In The...
Benjamin Franklin once famously said in his private correspondence, ...in this world nothing can
be said to be certain, except death and taxes . Benjamin Franklin was correct, taxation is
inevitable, but the extent of taxation can be said to be close to nothing when banking offshore.
Offshore banking has become a plague in America, crippling small business, enlarging the wallets
of top corporations and keeping politicians afloat on a raft of liquid money . Not only is this
plague very selective in its choice of victims, it directly affects the middle to low class, working
American dramatically. Offshore banking extorts the basis of United States economicsand
regulation and should be illegal. Capitalism and offshore banking go hand in hand. Capitalism is
characterized to be, ...by the freedom of capitalists to operate or manage their property for profit in
competitive conditions ; the keyword is for profit. Offshore banking offers lower taxrates than if a
capitalist were to invest money in their own homeland. Foreign countries such as Switzerland,
Luxembourg, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tax dollars are considered the drops of blood in a nation s vascular system. According to the
United States Census, in the year 2015, the United States collected approximately 338 billion,
387 billion, and 49 billion US dollars in individual income taxes, regular income taxes, and
corporation net income tax respectively. These numbers fund our federal programs, pay wages for
public service workers, and keep the infrastructures stable so that people have electricity at night.
Even though these numbers are immense, they re also appalling. How accurate is this calculated
number and how much revenue is actually being taxed? These loopholes involving offshore
banking not only gives the richer a quick buck, but screws the middle class and, more importantly,
the lower class from sponsored programs and federal

Trash In The Pacific Ocean Essay
The Santa Monica Daily Press recently revealed an article discussing the trash in the Pacific
Ocean. I believe that humans should do everything they can to prevent the pollution of our oceans.
The ocean is a major food and water source and has large economic value. The ocean has
contributed $ 1.2 trillion dollars and over 350 million jobs. One of the major consequences of
oceanic pollutionis the destruction of coral reefs, which is a habitat to many of the world s
marine wildlife. It is said that the coral reefs are home to more than 4,000 species of fish and 800
species or hard coral. If the coral is wiped out we would lose $375 billion dollars worth of goods
and services. Also, pollution can contribute to the movement of harmful invasive... Show more

A solution to the epidemic is to limit the use of plastic water bottles. Also the USA should make
it a law to require major water bottle manufacturers to limit the use of plastic and non recyclable
packaging. Another solution is to encourage recycling worldwide and work with other countries
to start agencies that handle environmental issues. Also, the EPA should require that all water
bottles should be made of 100% recycled plastic. In addition we should have stricter regulations
on littering and not recycling. I also believe that the EPA should require major cigarette
manufactures to research bio degradable cigarette filters. We should also require cigarette
companies to donate a portion of their profits to clean beaches along the coast. In order to fight
the pollution of our beaches I think that it should be required to volunteer at a local beach
cleanup or pick up trash at a local city. Also I think that major grocery stores should reduce the
amount of grocery bags and endorse the use of re usable grocery bags. My question to the EPA
would be What is being done about the landfill in the middle of the pacific ocean? and When is
that issue going to be addressed? Furthermore I think that if we take the initiative to stop the
pollution of our oceans, we can allow for future generations to enjoy the ocean. If we do not act
quickly, water pollution it could jeopardize the whole

Defining The Short Squeeze Event
1 IntroductionBefore defining the Short Squeeze event, I will explain the concept of Short
sellingof stocks. Short selling is a strategy, where an trader borrows stocks of firms from abroker
and sells those stocks in the market with the condition of returning the stocksback to the broker at
later point of the time. Traders execute this strategy when theexpected future returns of stock
performance is bleak or have negative outlook.Forexample, if the future expected earnings, sales,
cash flows of the company is expectedto decline in next quarters, the investors will shortsell the the
stock now and buythe stocks in future and return the borrowed shares to the brokers. This strategy is
contrary to normal investment strategy where investors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

many hedge funds that trade on fundamen tals of the firms. During our literature survey, we
observe that some studies suggestthat high levels of short interest predict future returns, but the
rationale behind thisthis predictability is not well understood. There are various theories that lead
todifferent interpretations. One of the study suggests that stocks are overvalued in thepresence of
short sale constraint and hence the subsequent negative abnormal returnsrepresent a correct of this
overvaluation. Second suggests that short interest sellersare highly

Labeling Happened In Germany
History is filled with one group of people labeling another group. Why does one group of people
feel the need to degrade another group? The reason is quite simply fear. Fear of one group
outsmarting, outperforming, or outnumbering another group. One of the most famous historical
examples of labeling occurred in Germany. By creating laws, the Nazis restricted the Jewsbehavior.
At first, labeling can be a very successful way to keep a group of people from advancing. Also, it
can cause the labeled group to feel hopeless. Anne Frank described it as a time, When all ideals
are being swallowed and destroyed, and people showing their worst side, and do not know whether
to believe in truth and right in God (263). Jews could not own a bicycle.

Fall Of The Han Dynasty And Roman Empire
Fall of the Han Dynasty and Roman Empire
The Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire are two very important ruling times that have shaped
today s agriculture. The Han Dynasty ruled from 206 BC 220 AD. It was the second imperial
dynasty of china. The Han Dynasty started off by ruling a strong decentralized government, but it
began to fall. Emperor Xian, was defeated by the allied forces of Sun Quan and Liu Bei. Cao Cao
tried to reunite them but once the Huns noticed that China was in distress, they invaded. The Han
dynasty did not have enough warfare to fight back. Although, they did try to fight back, they failed

A Comparison of George Orwell s Totalitarian World of...
Orwell s Totalitarian World of 1984 is America in 2004
Orwell s allegorical critique of Stalinism in 1984 is often used in capitalist nations as a poignant
literary attack on Communism and other collectivist economic and political systems. The
argument often follows the lines of This is socialism, and as you can see, it doesn t work and just
leads to oppression. We re in a nice capitalist democracy, therefore we are better off. But is that
conclusion the truth?
Orwell didn t just intend 1984 as an attack on communism or socialism; instead it is both an attack
and a rather prophetic warning against any authoritarian structure, including the authoritarian
structure of capitalist democracies. Often we do not equate ... Show more content on

The powerful get away with this through propaganda and bias in the media. The telescreens of
America come in the forms of CNN or the New York Times. The corporate media touts the
successes of democracy in foreign nations without saying how it was achieved (through U.S.
military and economic interventions). It has reached the point where the powerful have set America
into a perpetual state of doublethink, where our leaders say one thing but mean the other.
To find examples of this doublethink, one needs only to look at the works of linguistics pioneer
Noam Chomsky. For the last few decades, Chomsky has focused his work on the connections
between language and politics. In his latest book, Profit Over People, Chomsky is forced to
differentiate between democracy (as we think it is) and really existing democratic theory (the
counter democratic system that actually exists). Most of the nations of Latin America and
Southeast Asia are currently running under the really existing democratic theory pushed on them
by the USA, a system where real democracy is only allowed if it serves the business interests of
America. Chomsky describes in depth this anti democracy in many of his works such as What
Uncle Sam Really Wants.
The same problems exist with free trade. The media leads Americans to believe that free trade is a
system with glorious benefits for everyone, in which all people are free to participate

The Power And Ethics Of Language
The Power and Ethics of Language
It was April 2010. David Cameron and Gordon Brown were the political frontrunners of Great
Britain. However, that realization was irrelevant with what was about to happen. Everyone was
watching as the highly anticipated, first televised debates in the United Kingdom began. The
discourse ended after several hours, and a new candidate quickly emerged as the leader. His name
was Nick Clegg. He led the Liberal Democrats, the smallest party. One might think about it over
and over again and ask, How did such a thing happen? . The answer, in itself, lies within the
influence of the media, the power of language, and how its words are intertwined so masterfully
that the effect becomes immeasurable. As Diane Setterfield once noted, There is something about
words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. They wind themselves around
your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your
skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic. The press
established a perception for Clegg and made it known not only to all those in attendance, but to
everyone who was watching across the nation. Based on his calm, collective demeanor and the
way he was in control, Nick looked like the host. David and Gordon, on the other hand, appeared
rattled and uncomfortable. They went from being the top two candidates to guests, in a matter of
several hours. That just did not seem

  • 2. Progressive Prank Protection Commercial Examples The two ads I chose were the Nationwide Baby commercial and the Progressive prank protection commercial. I chose these ads because they show a practical product, that most people use, in an funny and unrelated way. The nationwide ad shows a man taking care of a baby as if it is a car. This commercial is used to promote car insurance. The progressive ad shows agents Flo and Jamie sneaking around in the night pulling off their own version of pranks: fixing mailboxes, replacing windows, and leaving paper bags with money on doorsteps. This commercial is used to promote home insurance. Nationwide and Progressive are two well known insurance companies. The first ad I will talk about is the Nationwide Baby ad. The ad starts off with a man washing his baby in his driveway the same way one would wash a car (Nationwide). The ad goes on to show car related situations with a baby like running into a fire hydrant, car repair shop, and in a grocery store parking lot. The ad shows how Nationwide will protect what s precious to you by making it precious to them. Therefore, just like a baby is precious and people will do anything to protect their baby, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People who own cars would likely watch this ad because they may want to change insurance companies or to confirm their decision in getting Nationwide. People who may be thinking about changing their insurance may watch this ad and see a company that really value other peoples possessions and work with them. This concept can be very persuasive in attracting people who are looking for a new insurance company. Therefore, if a person is looking for an insurance company that has good service and truly cares, then the Nationwide Baby ad would be a good start of them choosing a new insurance company. For people who already are Nationwide customers can be assured that they are a part of a caring company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the year 1700, the triple alliance of Denmark Norway, Saxony Poland Lithuania and Russia attacked a Swedish protectorate and various provinces in order to get an advantage over Sweden s young and inexperienced leader, which launched the Great Northern War. • 4. Spoiled, Brat, Snitch, And Hypocrite Spoiled, Brat, Snitch, and Hypocrite are four words that described my twenty year old sister Jessica Bunn. Today, four years later I think of her in a completely different way. She has taught me so many things and helped shape me into the woman I am today. Even though we are thousands of miles apart we still share an inseparable bond. My sister has not always been a positive influence but she has matured into one of the best women I know. Over the next few minutes I will be talking about how mine and my sister s relationship hasn t always been great, but over the years she has become my best friend and for this reason my sister has and will forever influence my life in a positive way. Mine and my sister s relationship is far from perfect. When I was younger up until high schoolour relationship was at its worst. We were constantly bickering about anything and everything. My sister treated me badly, but I craved her attention. She left me at home and went out with her friends, but for some reason I was drawn to her. I always tried to impress her and wanted her to like me. No matter what she said or did to me, I still wanted to be her best friend. I recall one day after school when I was 7 my sister was babysitting me as she always did. We had been watching TV and I got up to make some popcorn. While I was doing my usual dancing routine waiting for the microwave to stop I heard a giant thud. I ran back to see my sister lying there in the living room floor gasping for air. ... Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults 2.1, Explain the skills needed to communicate with children and young people. To be able to effectively communicate with children and young people you must first understand how to speak appropriately for the Childs age level, cognitive level or language ability. For example, while speaking to a child which has English as an Additional Language, you would need to speak slower, with lots more annunciation and facial expression. To show them that they have my full attention I would repeat what they had said, correcting where necessary but giving a great deal of praise. To immediately put the person at their ease I would first make a comment which is completely different to what the topic of our conversation needs to be. For example, how much I like their shoes, how did they do at football over the weekend or what good films have they watched recently. Once I believe I have asked enough questions that are personal to them and can see that they are starting to open up to me I would gradually start bringing up what the main purpose of our chat was meant to be. This could be anything from, what has caused arguments to be arising lately with certain individuals or why they are starting to struggle with certain activities. However, they must always understand that your are their teaching assistant and not their buddy or parent. Communication differences There are many different factors to take into consideration when communicating with children or young adults. Their age, ie a 4 yr old, will not have heard as many words as an 11 yr old, so the vocabulary has to be kept simpler. • 6. Comparison Of Two Creation Stories Daniyar Sadyk Paper #1; Topic #4 1+1: Completion and Justification Creation stories have shaped the way people come to see gender relations. While some have formed egalitarian viewpoints, most of the people have supported hierarchical notions. The reason for this division is the existence of two different creation stories that are contradicting each other. And the real question is not if there are differences or not. But if there is a purpose to these differences? Indeed, there is. First, men have used Creation 2 to justify their actions and to keep the patriarchal system working. Second, these two stories simply complete each other. With the second story, Genesis became an excuse for men to rule over the women. In the first story, God creates everything in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Genesis 1 has a broad outline which shows how God created the Earth. The author gives a general account of the creation. Genesis 1 does not have any detailed information in it, but rather some overview on what happened. However, people want to know not just how our world was created, but also how exactly humankind came to life. And Genesis 2 successfully explains how God created man from the dust, and woman from the man s ribs. It has many details that the first story does not. Therefore, it is easy to conclude that the first story is more chronological and general, whereas the second one is topical. The first story summarizes the whole process, while the second is more specific about man and his environment. Moreover, the second story could never be the only creation story because it does not have a sufficient information needed to explain how God created the Earth. For example, there is no mention of the creation of the day and night. There are no explanations how the oceans and fish were generated. The Rosewood s were a company that produced the highest quality sweets in all of England, but for decent prices, however this was how they stayed in business for nearly a decade but they were outdone by the Jeffries that started to make the same quality of candies for even less money. That was the true downfall of the Rosewood chocolate industry. With the fall of the company, cash began to dwindle and their normally weighted wallets began to get lighter and lighter. What if you went to your employer and asked for an advance on your pay, and they denied you? Payday loans come in many forms, but generally speaking, they are small ($375 on average), short term (one to two weeks), high interest (391% API average) loans. Advocates for payday loans argue that the loans are available for people who have emergencies like sudden medical expenses, and are available when alternate sources of money are unavailable, or when the alternatives may be more expensive. Opponents of payday loans point out the fact that a broad majority of payday loans are not used for unexpected expenses, but are rather used for recurring expenses. • 11. Big Trouble in Little Baltimore The past one hundred and fifty years of Baltimore s history have included many turbulent fluctuations in the way the city manages to thrive during the vast changes in how consumer related products are manufactured. One of the most important ingredients to the city s prosperity is in a mineral called chromite. Chromite is typically found in acidic soil along with serpentinite rock, a dark green brittle rock in the soapstone family. During the late nineteenth century, chromite suddenly became a hot commodity as it was discovered in abundance on what is now a federally protected reserve called Soldier s Delight, located just northwest of BaltimoreCity. At that time, the land was ripe for mining and chromite was found to be very versatile in the manufacturing of many items that were, at that time, unavailable like yellow and red paint, tanned leather, bricks for firing kilns, and, the most valuable use of all, chrome. The mining operation at Soldier s Delight suddenly went full throttle during the early part of the twentieth century and Baltimore was seated in the perfect location for transporting these new products to places all over the world due to its connection to the Chesapeake Bay. However, the processing plant that received the mined chromite was not conscientious enough with the oxidized discharge from the chromite and allowed it to seep into the soil beneath the plant and enter into the groundwater. • 12. The Need For Theory And Theorizing 2.2 THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Obviously the topic of human is limitless. Its scope is so diffused, broad and massive that we find it difficult to comprehend, think, examine and analyze. In brief we need to wear some sort of scientific lenses by which we can catch the world of observation in order to explain, predict and influence the course of actions. THE NEED FOR THEORY AND THEORIZING According toKeIIy(1999, P. 18). Theory is a way of finding together all together a multitude of facts so that one may comprehend them all at once . In a similar vein, (Sharer Ashmore: 2002, P. 50) sees theory as a set of interrelated ideas about a phenomena, which provides the framework for its explanation . (Jonathan,1997 P.10) succinctly puts the issue in these terms. Theorizing can be viewed as the means by which the intellectual activity known as science realizes it is three principal goals these include: (1) To classify and organize events in the world so that they can be placed into perspectives. (2) To explain the courses of past events and predict when, and events will occur and (3) To offer and intuitively pleasing, sense of understanding why and how events should occur. Scholars have advanced plethora of views and theories in a bid to provide an explanation of the wide ranging multifaceted ideas of how social life is organized (KolIak: 1985, P. 223). On the other hand, a theory is a set of ideas, which provides as explanation for something. This is in view of the fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Challenges Facing The U.s. Vocational Training System The challenges facing the U.S. vocational training system today low community college completion rates and skill mismatch, in particular are the legacy of a long history of conflict between employers, employees, and unions over how to train American workers. If the government tried to address the current challenges without accounting for this history, their policy proposals would likely be impractical and incomplete. Our goal is thus to review the history of vocational training in search for lessons that indicate what policies and programs have the highest probability of success today. We focus on two persistent historical challenges for American vocational training: balancing employer demands with economic mobility for trainees, and coordinating investment and skills certification between employers, training institutions, trainees, and government. These are the obstacles that any policy will need to work around or overcome. For example, if successful apprenticeship programs have succeeded only where employers associations and workers groups coordinate training, it is unlikely that a regional or national apprenticeship policy can succeed without buy in from employers and employees willing to agree on a system of certification and cost sharing. The two sections below will explore how these challenges arose, why they have persisted, and what they mean for current efforts to reform the vocational training system. The Purpose of Skill Development The goals of higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The diversity and originality of the Philippine culture are outstanding and is heavily influenced by the Spanish, who brought their own to spice up Philippine s culture, religion, lifestyle, and way of thinking. It all dates back during 1564; it is one of the most significant years of the Philippine history for it is a year in which the invasions on the Filipinos by New Spain led by Miguel LГіpez de Legazpi were successful. It was not until later, however, when Legazpi and the Spanish created perennial settlements around the coasts of Cebu despite heavy opposition from the Cebuanos. Additionally, the Spanish sought after up and running, albeit small, communities without central governing figures to perhaps strengthen the rule of the Governor General Legazpi. Around this time, religion began playing a significant role in the Philippines as the Filipinos were divided between Muslim and Catholic rule. The former deemed more dominant as the group was much larger than the former, however, things were bound to change under Legazpi and the Spaniards. Generally speaking, the number of Muslims in Mindanao and Sulu were much higher than in Visayas and Luzon as the organizations were bigger and more organized, thus it was easier to start with smaller groups. The Spanish took this opportunity and decided to Catholicize the small communities before spreading the religion into a much bigger scale. It became the root of the conflict between Muslim Filipinos and Christian Filipinos. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By examining Touch of Evil and Breakfast at Tiffany s through the lens of Henry Mancini s music choices we can see that Mancini s music choices were just as important as Blake Edwards, director. While misuse of antibiotics in human medicine is a major cause of this problem, antibiotic resistance originating from the use of antimicrobial growth promoter in animals is a factor that can aggravate this global human health issue (WHO FAO, 2015). However, the over use, misuse or lack of control in administration of antibiotics results in a high accumulation of antibiotics in the animal and its excretion to the environment. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ions (OCl ) will form free chlorinewhen bound together, and they are primary disinfectants throughout the process. They are made for long range shooting and although, they are fantastic; a classic rifle may be revamped for long range match grade precision. A reasonable or even surplus ... • 39. Utilitarianism In Watchmen What constitutes a hero, and likewise, what characteristics describe a villain? Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons explore these constructs in their graphic novel, Watchmen, where a dystopian, red scare America faces potential Armageddon due to an impending nuclear war. The work introduces two potential paladins, depending on one s moral values, Rorschach and Ozymandias, placing the motifs of categorical imperativism and utilitarianism at odds with one another. Rorschach, a categorical imperativist, holds an unconditional moral obligation to what he deems just, even when confronting his own mortality. On the other hand, Ozymandias, a utilitarian, believes in actions that benefit the majority, though in this work this ideology signifies sacrificing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. Trash In The Pacific Ocean Essay The Santa Monica Daily Press recently revealed an article discussing the trash in the Pacific Ocean. I believe that humans should do everything they can to prevent the pollution of our oceans. The ocean is a major food and water source and has large economic value. The ocean has contributed $ 1.2 trillion dollars and over 350 million jobs. One of the major consequences of oceanic pollutionis the destruction of coral reefs, which is a habitat to many of the world s marine wildlife. It is said that the coral reefs are home to more than 4,000 species of fish and 800 species or hard coral. If the coral is wiped out we would lose $375 billion dollars worth of goods and services. Also the USA should make it a law to require major water bottle manufacturers to limit the use of plastic and non recyclable packaging. Another solution is to encourage recycling worldwide and work with other countries to start agencies that handle environmental issues. Also, the EPA should require that all water bottles should be made of 100% recycled plastic. In addition we should have stricter regulations on littering and not recycling. I also believe that the EPA should require major cigarette manufactures to research bio degradable cigarette filters. We should also require cigarette companies to donate a portion of their profits to clean beaches along the coast. In order to fight the pollution of our beaches I think that it should be required to volunteer at a local beach cleanup or pick up trash at a local city. Also I think that major grocery stores should reduce the amount of grocery bags and endorse the use of re usable grocery bags. My question to the EPA would be What is being done about the landfill in the middle of the pacific ocean? and When is that issue going to be addressed? Furthermore I think that if we take the initiative to stop the pollution of our oceans, we can allow for future generations to enjoy the ocean. If we do not act quickly, water pollution it could jeopardize the whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason is quite simply fear. Fear of one group outsmarting, outperforming, or outnumbering another group. One of the most famous historical examples of labeling occurred in Germany. By creating laws, the Nazis restricted the Jewsbehavior. At first, labeling can be a very successful way to keep a group of people from advancing. Also, it can cause the labeled group to feel hopeless. Orwell s Totalitarian World of 1984 is America in 2004 Orwell s allegorical critique of Stalinism in 1984 is often used in capitalist nations as a poignant literary attack on Communism and other collectivist economic and political systems. The argument often follows the lines of This is socialism, and as you can see, it doesn t work and just leads to oppression. We re in a nice capitalist democracy, therefore we are better off. But is that conclusion the truth? Orwell didn t just intend 1984 as an attack on communism or socialism; instead it is both an attack and a rather prophetic warning against any authoritarian structure, including the authoritarian structure of capitalist democracies. The telescreens of America come in the forms of CNN or the New York Times. The corporate media touts the successes of democracy in foreign nations without saying how it was achieved (through U.S. military and economic interventions). It has reached the point where the powerful have set America into a perpetual state of doublethink, where our leaders say one thing but mean the other. To find examples of this doublethink, one needs only to look at the works of linguistics pioneer Noam Chomsky. For the last few decades, Chomsky has focused his work on the connections between language and politics. In his latest book, Profit Over People, Chomsky is forced to differentiate between democracy (as we think it is) and really existing democratic theory (the counter democratic system that actually exists). Most of the nations of Latin America and Southeast Asia are currently running under the really existing democratic theory pushed on them by the USA, a system where real democracy is only allowed if it serves the business interests of America. Chomsky describes in depth this anti democracy in many of his works such as What Uncle Sam Really Wants. The same problems exist with free trade. The media leads Americans to believe that free trade is a system with glorious benefits for everyone, in which all people are free to participate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Power And Ethics Of Language The Power and Ethics of Language It was April 2010. David Cameron and Gordon Brown were the political frontrunners of Great Britain. However, that realization was irrelevant with what was about to happen. Everyone was watching as the highly anticipated, first televised debates in the United Kingdom began. The discourse ended after several hours, and a new candidate quickly emerged as the leader. His name was Nick Clegg. He led the Liberal Democrats, the smallest party. One might think about it over and over again and ask, How did such a thing happen? . The answer, in itself, lies within the influence of the media, the power of language, and how its words are intertwined so masterfully that the effect becomes immeasurable. As Diane Setterfield once noted, There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. They wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic. The press established a perception for Clegg and made it known not only to all those in attendance, but to everyone who was watching across the nation. Based on his calm, collective demeanor and the way he was in control, Nick looked like the host. David and Gordon, on the other hand, appeared rattled and uncomfortable. They went from being the top two candidates to guests, in a matter of several hours. That just did not seem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
