Five Broken Cameras
Imagine living in a conflict that has divided two nations, literally, by a concrete barrier. This
turbulent and heated confrontation has left many dead and even more injured. Welcome to the
Israeli Palestinian conflict. The documentary 5 Broken Cameras is a portrayal of this modern day
dispute through the personal lens of self taught Palestinian cameraman, Emad Burnat. This
compelling documentary provides a realistic presentation of the hatred that surrounds these two
divided nations. Movie viewers will be drawn to this film is because it demonstrates the harsh
realities of what it is like to live in the midst of a conflict and how the lives of those affected are
altered as a result of this prolonged struggle. Burnat is certainly effective... Show more content on

Rather, it demonstrates the first hand effects of families who have lived through travesty and
hardship. By connecting the increased intensity of the conflict and displaying it alongside
Gibreel s growth, the audience is quickly drawn in and engaged in the film. Burnat successfully
draws this parallel in order to hit his message close to home and make sure that it sticks. His
message is as follows: The political crisis that unites and separates these two distinct cultures is not
necessarily bound to be resolved soon, however, during the midst of this crisis, it is more than just
politics that needs to be exemplified and understood. Life needs to go

Essay On Cash Loans
Once you ve finished reading this article, you should know enough about cash loans to make the
right decision about them, and also be able to explain them to others
Advances with payday loans help you get through to your next payday. These loans always come
with strict fees attached. When you fall behind in your bills, you could ask for extensions and work
closely with your utility service providers to pay your arrangers. Or you can go for a payday loan. A
payday loans is designed for instant relief in emergency situations. Things like utilities about to be
shut off, car repairs, overdrafts, tuition fees, or health costs can be good times to seek a payday loan.

They just verify your employment and banking information, and process the loan. But there are a
few that will have you fax them documents with signatures.
The way payday advance help is in their flexibility. A borrower can be at ease knowing this
transaction is private and discreet. Many advances are used for common things that can sneak up on
us by our mishandling of our monthly budgets.
When you search on the Internet for a loan, you ll see there are many websites devoted to this
industry. If you can find one closer to your area, it could serve you better. Some lenders of these
loans are restricted to their own areas. There is a bit of controversy surrounding this industry in
many places, and some states are trying to shut these resources down.
Many people and officials claim that these payday loans are preying on people who are down
financially, and taking advantage. They feel these lenders are merciless, greedy, and gluttonous,
making their profits off the misfortune of others. But others say you need to look at some of the
traditional loan institutions before being so quick to judge.
In reality, a payday loan can be cheaper than having a bank overdraft. Overdrafts today are quite
expensive. When you obtain a payday loan for paying off overdraft fees, it might cost you, but not
as much as incurring another overdraft fee. If you any type of disconnection charges, you ll
probably pay less for the payday loan for

Bna Thesis
BNA practice intro paragraph
The British North America Act (BNA) is known as The Act that created Canada. In this thesis
statement I will thoroughly explain the Manifest Destiny, and how colonists feared the United
States. In 1864 the BNA Act was drafted by the Quebec Conference on Canadian confederation.
Counter argument
The Manifest Destiny showed the hatred of the United States (US) for every other terrain that was
not their own. The US used the 19th century period of American Expansion that was destined to
stretch from coast to coast. The preowned way of the attitude prevalent fired up disasters, War with
Mexico broke out and harsh removal of the Native Americans. O Sullivan declared, Our manifest
destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly
multiplying millions. This recitation guided many Republican supporters. Manifest destiny is an
extensively held faith mainly by the United States that it was their own found destiny to expand and
own the territory of North America.
My argument
The Manifest Destiny was superior for the Americans, paved the way for Americans to share
culture, doubled land are of the US and increased good services and wealth. The Manifest Destiny

My Dream Of Becoming A Doctor
I know that it sounds cliche, but for as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of becoming a
doctor. Luckily for me, Employment of physicians and surgeons is projected to grow 14 percent
from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
After graduating from high schoolnext May, I plan to major in Engineering, and then go on to
Medical School in order to become a Neurosurgeon. After taking both the Gardner s Intelligence
test and Myers Briggs personality inventory, I discovered new things about myself that I never
knew before, and I believe that this new knowledge will help me excel in my dream of becoming
a doctor. My highest score on the Gardner s Intelligence test came in the Logical/Mathematical
category. This score makes perfect sense for me because I enjoy math and science classes.
Additionally, I use logic and math almost everyday because of my participation on Southview s
Science Olympiad team. In order to achieve my degree in engineering and then medical school, I
will go though countless math and science classes. These classes take a tremendous amount of
work and dedication, and I believe that my high logical/mathematical score prepares me well for
the challenge. My next highest score came in the Intrapersonal category. While this may seem
counterintuitive for a doctor, a profession in which one work with patients and coworkers, I
believe that this can also help me. I will never try to belabor my patients but

Maximilien Robespierre
Maximilien Robespierre, born in Arras, France, on May 6, 1758, went through a tough time
when his mother dies only when he was six years old and his father left his family close after.
Robespierre was raised by his grandparents and was educated in Paris where he earned a law degree
in 1781. He then went to Arras, a city in France, and practiced law.
Robespierre was a follower of a devout social philosopher named Jean Jacques Rousseau. He like
was Rousseau was saying because he fell into the love with how Rousseau said that A man stands
alone only accompanied by his conscience . Maximilien started to gain his reputation and fame
when he began to represent the poor and minorities. Doing this Robespierre earned the nickname

1906 San Francisco Earthquake Research Paper
Famous for its Golden Gate Bridge, street cars traveling up and down the hilly city, and a haunted
prison abandoned on Alcatraz Island, San Francisco is a city unlike any other. San Francisco
during the early 1900s, too was a great city. It was on the rise from the gold rush and a fairly new
transcontinental railroad that connected the growing western cityto the rest of the united states.
On April, 18 1906, San Francisco would be divested by several disasters. That morning at five,
the San Andreas Fault shifted, resulting in an earthquake with a strength of 7.8 on the Richter
Scale. It shocked San Francisco and the surrounding areas. The quake lasted 45 seconds to one
minute only, and caused major damage and loss of life. The buildings in San Francisco during
the time were largely made of wood and some of the newly built ones were made of brick and
stone. City officials worked with builders for this change in response to six fires that occurred
closely together before the earthquake, (Gunn, 2008). The new brick buildings could survive a fire,

The earthquake had caused the gas lines and water mains to break. Not making the situation any
easier, power and communication lines also came down as a result of the shaking. All of the
damage and human activity equated to numerous fires that would last for three days. Adding to the
cluster of chaos that city officials and emergency services had to endure, was the fact that there
was no water to mitigate the fires, since there was no water pressure from the water mains that
broke during the quake. The problem that they faced was a possibility they thought could happen.
However, they never did anything to avoid the fact that the water mains would fail them in result of
an earthquake. A plan had even been made to pump water from the San Francisco bay, however it
was never implemented, (Gunn,

resistance against the Lannister s and the Tyrell s of society is challenging. Fitting in with a
group of people who on any given day, are carted off on a private jet to their beach house or boast
about their expensive cars is exasperating. They follow each other blindly like unsullied slaves of

Google s Legal And Ethical Controversy
Defining Google s Legal and Ethical Controversy
Just Google it a saying that has become an integral part of everyday vocabulary. The worlds
most popular search engine can provide people, worldwide with access to information that
otherwise would not be available. Whether you re looking to find pictures of the Holi celebration
in India or find a local NYC eatery where you can have brunch, with just a click of a button, Google
always has an answer.
Despite the greatness that Google has brought to the world, on April 15, 2015 the European Union
filed an Antitrust lawsuit against Google. The European Commission addresses four main areas of
concern in Google s operation: potential bias in Google s search results, scraping content from
rival websites, agreements with advertisers that may exclude rival search advertising services and
contracts that limit marketers from using other platforms . I feel that Google has the legal right to
favor its own search results over its competitors and that it is ethical for Google to use its
dominance of the search engine market to its advantage.
Situation Analysis
Google is a technology company operating on a global level. It employs 32,000 employees and
generates annual revenues of about $38 billion .
Google first came underfire for unfair competition concerns in the U.S. during 20132. Before the
FTC conducted a through investigation, Google pledged to alter its business practices. Google s

Rhetorical Analysis Of Antonin Scalia s America
Antonin Scalia s America Appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on October 5, 2011,
the late Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia expressed his conception of
American exceptionalism. Based on the perspective of an originalist, Scalia believes that judges
should strictly adhere to the Constitution. He utilizes a chauvinistic tone in order to effectively
characterize the United Statesas an exceptional country built upon a gridlock of laws through the
separation of powers. Scalia s influential speech compels opposing judges to adopt his conservative
ideals. During his opening statement, Scalia employs rhetorical questions in order to elucidate that
Americans lack of knowledge of the government forces judges to firmly abide by the United States
unparalleled Constitution. He postulates, How many of you have read the Federalist Papers? The
reality that never more than about 5% of his audience, who are interested in the law, has delved
deep into the document portrays them as ignorant. With this concern, Scalia expounds upon his
originalist ideals and encourages rivaling judges to alter their opinions of a flexible Constitution.
Scalia credits his argument through the Framers who illustrated the significance of the Constitution
in the Federalist Papers. Due to the fact that Americans are incapable of thoroughly interpreting the
government, he attests that judges must abide by the precise words of the Constitution. Scalia
advises his audience to

Human Nature And Nature In The Ecotone By James Clifford
Human actions do not disturb the pristineness of nature but add into the pristineness by enhancing
nature. Artificial structures, such as the landfills and flood control gates aid in protection of
property, but cause destruction of certain animal habitats. However, artificial structures in the Bay
Area have an ecotonal relationship with nature. Building the floodgates sacrifice the habitatin place
of the floodgate, but in the long term, protects more habitats. In The Ecotone by James Clifford,
Clifford shows the university has a symbiotic relationship with nature. In Man, the Dominant
Animal by RatCliffe, RatCliffe introduces how human actions go through a cycle of aiding and
destroying peregrine life. Landfills help reduce the contamination of toxic chemicals with nature.
Floodgates protect buildings against nature s floods, which create millions of dollars in damage of
trees and animal habitat. In the Bay Area, cities, such as Milpitas debate if a floodgate is more
beneficial or damaging, and San Francisco debated how to remove the contamination from the rust
of old war ships. In my interview with MetCalfe, MetCalfe claims that human machines help nature
dispose of waste through the use of anaerobic digesters. Artificial structures have an ecotonal
relationship with nature because the relationship consists of a mergence between the two
communities. This is important because humans must create artificial structures in a way that will
not harm nature. In the writing, In the Ecotone by Jim Clifford, Clifford argues that the composite
environment is always being assembled and reassembled with friction and difficulty (Clifford 7). In
other words, the intersection between human made structures is a natural event of nature because
nature continually consists of rearrangement of members. Gathering from Clifford, artificial
structures, such as buildings, do not disturb nature but are a part of the natural ecotone. This view
is important today because many have a one sided, negative view of construction of buildings. In
San Francisco protest that the new skyscraperdestroys the beauty of the city by blocking the sun.
However, the skyscraper is part of the developing city and creates many habitats for eagles

Comparison Of Howl And Song Of Myself
Howl by Ginsberg and Song of Myself by Whitman, have different and similar variances on the take
of the world. Howl is more technical and gets straight to the point of the world whereas Song of
Myself starts off with a happier side of the world. Whitman describes world as heaven and Ginsberg
describes live as dark and evil. Where Whitman is less harsh and Ginsberg is very harsh. Also,
Ginsberg uses a raw language to describe the world in a deeper perspective. In Song of Myself,
Whitman describes the world as a hopeful place in which a lot can be done. He states, The

peeringly view them from the top. The suicide sprawls on the bloody floor of the bed room; I

Ginsberg replies with, who created great suicidal dramas on the apartment cliff banks of the
Hudson under the wartime blue floodlight of the moon their heads shall be crowned with laurel
in oblivion (line 46). These two quotes stand out and seem that they are replying to one other. In
lines 150 168 in Song of Myself , he discussed that he has been through many experience in one,
which is horrifying as children committing suicide. Ginsberg replies to this as if they have

Ginsberg way of discussing suicide is more intense than Whitman s. Ginsberg definition of
suicide is the resort of pain and suffering and that leads to being honored because it takes a lot of

Miss Representation It s no shock that the representation of women in the media is more
disadvantageous than ever, and problematic at best anyone who has read a magazine or surfed
the internet knows this. Women are treated like second class citizens Jean Kilbourne. Women are
degraded and discouraged by the media. This is the thesis set out by Miss Representation , a
documentary directed and produced by actress, activist and documentary filmmaker Jennifer
Siebel Newsom. The documentary gives a good perspective on why the representation of women
in the media is so important in our society. The message the film gets across to viewers is that the
way women are often portrayed is damaging to media consumers of all genders and ages. The way
the media treats women is the cause of soaring numbers of women who develop eating disorders,

informative speech about his three inventions that he believes can have a significant positive effect
on millions of people. The first invention he describes consists of a device implanted into a patient
to detect acute myocardial infection (AMI). The second inventionis a device that helps eliminate
migraineheadaches. The third invention details the best way to treat epilepsy through a responsive
electrical treatment. Robert Fischell delivered the speech in acceptance of his 2005 TEDaward in an
official conference. His credibility cannot be doubted as he is the inventor of other well known
medical devices such as, the rechargeable pacemaker, the insulin pump, and a pre cursor to GPS.
The speaker s fascinating inventive capability, and determination to make the world a better place,
adds to his credibility. The TED conference consisted of approximately a thousand people from
different fields such as technology, design, business, science, entertainment, as well as the non
profit world. The audience is not only limited to the live audience as millions of people can access
the 26:46 minute speech through the internet and mass media. The speaker used a hook effectively
to draw the audience into the speech. He starts by noting that the speech is aimed at discussing the
invention that can have an impact on ten to a hundred million people. With such a remarkable
statement, everyone would be interested to know the details of his inventions. At the same time, he
mentions his previous inventions, stents, and insulin pumps for the diabetic, which he discussed in
the prior film. This creates trust among the audience about the speaker s credibility. The speech s
opening fully establishes the intention of the presentation.
Speech Content and Structure
The presentation was entirely focused on the primary objective of the speech and uses a problem
and solution technique. Fischell s argument relates to how disease occurs, and how his inventions
would contribute towards solving the problem. For instance, Fischell states that a migraine
headache is an occurrence similar to an electrical impulse. His equipment would create a

Essay on Analysis of Rita Dove’s, “Daystar”
C Stevens 07/09/2010 Professor Kierath English 102.212 Analysis of Rita Dove s, Daystar
Daystar by Rita Dove is an expressive poem, which centers on the main character, a young
mother and wife, who internally struggles with her burdensome, daily duties, which creates a lack
of freedom in her world. Dove s choice of words lets the reader empathize with her confined life.
In this poem, irony exists for the mere fact that from birth to adulthood the female population is
brought up to feel fulfilled by simply becoming a wife and mother; however, this poem describes
the monotonous duties and the joyless bond that can be between husband and wife. As the poem
opens, Dove begins with a metaphor that entertains the idea of... Show more content on

Later that night when Thomas roller over and lurched into her, she would open her eyes and
think of the place that was hers this proves the point that she cannot even express herself
sexually because she does not feel as if she has control in the situation. Her mind wanders
elsewhere, in a place where she is her own master, instead of what is reality. Additionally, the
main character s husband shows some selfish tendencies in the fact that he may not notice his
wife s discontentment with his affection. However, this may also present the lack of
communication between man and wife and therefore may cause a sense of isolation from her
husband. The main character possesses the characteristics of most young women, a full plate of
responsibility and the lack of freedom that can wither away a person s soul. My response to this
poem is that I strongly respect the author for bringing up such a controversial issue such as
discontentment with being a stay at home mother, since this is usually to be expected of women.
Dove explains the poem delicately and leaves the underlying sense that she may have possibly
been through the situation herself. This being said, her imagery is wonderfully used and the
metaphor of the doll being slumped over is a brilliant way to reflect upon the main character s
feelings and actions. The irony comes into play, in my opinion,

Symbolism In Parker s Back By Flannery OConnor
In Parker s Back by Flannery O Connor, the protagonist, Parker, deals with an internal struggle
with religion. Throughout the story, Parker controls his mixed feelings by getting tattoos. Parker
openly refuses God, but agrees to marry a religious woman and gets a religious tattoo. How does
the author use symbolism to add significance the Parker s actions? O Connor portrays Parker s
changing relationship with religionby adding symbolism to the most important aspects of his life.
From a young age the protagonist, Obadiah Elihue Parker, despised religion and finds comfort in
tattoos. It starts of as a small act of rebellion to becoming a release for all the religion that
surrounds him. After Parker sees a tattooed man, the story says, ... Show more content on

Parker is named after a religious figure and for that reason he refused to reveal his name to
anyone besides the government and his wife. In Parker s Back , O Connor writes, He had never
revealed the name to any man or woman, only to the files of the navy and the government, and it
was on his baptismal record which he got at the age of a month (). Parker wants no association
with religion and refused to reveal his name unless it is mandatory or has no control over the
matter. This symbolizes Parker s need to reject any affiliation with religion. Near the end of the
story the symbolism changes. Parker openly uses his name when he wants to show his wife the
tattoo of God. Parker says, Obadiah, he whispered and all at once he felt the light pouring through
him, turning his spider web soul into a perfect arabesque of colors, a garden of trees and birds and
beasts (). Saying his name opens a new way of seeing the world for him. He accepts his religious
name, which symbolizes Parker welcoming religion into his life.
The big turning point in the story is when Parker crashes and burns the tractor. The fire
symbolizes the beginning of his new life with religion. Before Parker burns the tractor, the story
says, The old woman he worked for told him that if he couldn t keep his mind on what he was
doing, she knew where she could find a fourteen year old colored boy who could (). Parker is

Burt s Bees Essay
1.Corporate social responsibility is a term that conveys a corporation s social responsibility to
society. In the old days corporations felt that once they had gained support from the public they
had a responsibility to give back to the community. This idea of giving back meant serving as
volunteers and providing financial contributions in aim of correcting the problems of the
community. Corporations have a wide range of opportunity and reach within most societies so it is
important and can ultimately be a great aid for a corporationto help in correcting the problems of

How Does Immigration Affect The United States Economy Essay

How does immigration affect the United States economy
Abstract:
Foreign born workers have dramatically increased in the Unites States due to immigration. How
does immigration affect the United States economy can be researched by finding the difference in
productivity and income per worker between states which have large inflows of foreign born
worker and those without many immigrants. Official data shows that states with large immigrant
inflows have higher productive capacity because they can attract foreign and domestic investment.
With higher productivity capacity, worker s wage would also soar. However, some people point
out that foreign born workers are stealing work opportunity from local workers; actually, there is no
evidence to confirm that.
Recent years, more and more foreign people immigrate to the United States by a variety of
approaches. How does immigration affect United States economy is now a hot topic discussed by
economists and ordinary citizens. Many people believe that foreign born workers are thieves who
steal their work opportunities; meanwhile, many people point out that these immigrants are
essential for United States society because many of them are doing the job that local people are
not willing to do such as cleaner and sewer workers. Most economists find no relationship between
large immigration inflows and local worker s employment rate and wage level.

Mental Deterioration In Hamlet
Madness does not have an exact cause but, rather it is the combination of psychological and
environmental factors that can cause mental deterioration. Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark has the reoccurring theme of madness demonstrated through the
protagonist s downward spiral into insanity. Therefore, Shakespeare s tragic hero, Hamlet,
throughout the course of his journey, undergoing traumatic events, communications with the
supernatural and his inability to decipher right from wrong, ultimately prove his mental state to
have been affected, making him mad.
Repeated exposure to tragic events can trigger traumatic stress being a detrimental factor to an
individual s mental state. In The Tragedy of Hamlet, the protagonist, ... Show more content on

Hamlet s insanity peaks when he loses his principles of respecting human life. Hamlet shows no
remorse, Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool, farewell. /I took thee for thy better. Take thy
fortune. / Thou find st to be too busy is some danger (III.iv.185). He realizes he mistakenly killed
the wrong man, yet Hamlet shows no sign of regret for killing Polonius. Hamlet s lack of empathy
corroborates to the idea that his madness causes him to lose his humanity. In the beginning of the
play, Hamlet proves to be meticulous when it comes to attain revenge, however, Hamlet s madness
escalated to the point where Polonius is carelessly killed. Hamlet having experienced parental loss
and knowing the suffering it brings, in a right state of mind, no sane person would wish that
suffering onto another person. Author Barbara, notes, The loss of her [Ophelia s] father her link
to emotional security once she can no longer trust in her own perceptions is the final, fatal assault
on her tenuous mental stability and survival instinct (Smith 98).. Hamlet is insanely consumed
with revenge that he has become murderous and insensitive for not thinking about the sorrow
and grief it will give Laertes and Ophelia. Hamlet s actions are altered by his madness making
him unaware that he is the indirect cause of Ophelia s madness. When Hamlet s kills Polonius he
becomes conscienceless, nonetheless, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern s killings show the cynical
side of Hamlet s madness. He tells Horatio about, [Rosencrantz s and Guildenstern s] defeat/ Does
by their own insinuation grow. / Tis dangerous when the baser nature comes / Between the pass
and fell incensed points (V. ii. 62 65). Hamlet s inability to decipher right from wrong proves his

Representation Of The Hollywood Television Industry
Representation Matters: Diversity in the Hollywood Television Industry A recent study done by the
UCLA Bunche Center for African American Studies showed the lack of diversity within
Hollywood by examining all the films released, television programs on broadcast, cable, or digital
networks, as well as the actors, writers, directors, and producers within the industry. Ethnic
minorities make up about 40% of the American population but still remain underrepresented in all
forms of entertainment. The study also discovered that more than 50% of moviegoers in the past
two years were minorities. In television, minorities only claimed about 7% of lead roles in
broadcast television ( NEW! 2015 Hollywood Diversity Report ). With half the American
population consisting of different ethnicities, American television should accurately and
proportionately portray the American people, yet some are having trouble doing so. Some
television networks have catered to their diverse audience by casting actors of different ethnicities
as the lead of a show, or by centering an entire show around a unique culture. Most have found this
to be beneficial with an increase in ratings and in profits through their sponsors. The organizations,
the Florida Family Association (FFA) and the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC)
represent two different positions on diversity within Hollywood and how the American people
should be portrayed in the television industry. The FFA is a national organization

The Provider And Patient Attributes
Provider and Patient Attributes
We collected a set of attributes for providers and patients from the EDW. For providers, we
extracted employee ID, employee role, and a physician index (a Boolean value; 1 if provider is a
type of physician, 0 if not). For patients, we extracted age, encounter type (all inpatient in this data
set), admission and discharge times, primary diagnosis, discharge location, length of stay, med
service (department to which the patient was admitted), discharge disposition (where the patient
was discharged to), and an index noting whether or not the patient had expired.
Network Visualization
We created two types of networks in this study. The first is a directed bipartite network and
represents interactions between providers and patient records (Figure 2). The second network is
undirected and depicts shared patient record access between providers (Figure 3). Visualization for
both networks was performed using Gephi. [59] Further description of these networks follows.
Provider patient Network
EDW data indicating provider access to a patients EHR was depicted as a directed bipartite graph
(see Figure 2 for a one patient example). The source node designates a provider of type physician,
nurse, pharmacist, etc. The target node designates a patient with a diagnosis of heart failure who
was admitted to NMH in 2012. An edge between them is an indication that the provider has

Frederic Chopin as the Greatest Romantic Composer Essay
In the course of the development of music, many great composers have contributed their
brilliance towards the revolution of music. To be a great composer does not necessarily mean
that they have reached a vast amount of fame. However, it means that their compositions have
ingenuity and value. The melodies they have cleverly created have reached a point of
worthiness in the world of music. For it is the sweet harmonies a composer creates that defines
who he is. One of these gifted composers was Frederic Chopin, born on February 22, 1810 in
Zelazowa Wola, Poland. Young Chopin was already composing by the age of eight and as his
musical career developed he became known as a master of pianocomposition. Although he was

With this clever innovation of harmonics, Chopin was highly ranked amongst other composers
making him an even greater influence towards the world of piano playing. Already rising up to
becoming a great icon, Chopin played a major role in the art of composing piano pieces. Chopin
created his own original technique that made his music so ingenious. He composed the Trois
Nouvelles Etudes , the three new studies. These studies showed his various new techniques that
later influenced the keyboard, and music itself (Hueneker 140). Chopin also constructed his own
original pieces by including different genres of music into one composition. For example, he
would combine a polonaise and a mazurka, two different Polish dances, one being slow while the
other is lively. Frederic Chopin also influenced composition with his genius use of the piano. He
used the instrument to its fullest effect to create a beautiful and expressive piece (Politoske, Daniel
T.). His creativity was prominently brought out this way as he was able to produce melody and
harmony (Samson 4). As a matter of fact, Chopin reached fame for his various piano compositions
rather than his orchestral pieces (Politoske, Daniel T.). His arrangements utilized the piano in the
most unique way which is why other musicians and his audiences admired his music. Arthur
Rubinstein stated that, ...all possible expressions are found in his compositions and are all sung by
him upon his instrument, (Hueneker 91). Even

per patient was assessed over the telephone 90 days after the patient s death. The measurements
collected include the symptoms related to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other
significant symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Study Variables For this study patient families were randomly assigned to the intervention or
control group. In the control group the interactions between the family and ICU staff, including the
end of life conference, occurred according to the usual practices and policies in the hospital;
whereas in the intervention group, the research study was conducted according to specific
guidelines. A bereavement information leaflet was given to each surrogate decision maker. In this
research, the independent variable can be the type of family conference received by the surrogates
and the dependent variables were the level of stress, anxiety, and depression levels indicated in the
90 day follow up interview.
Conceptual Model / Theoretical framework In this research study, authors chose to relate the
research article to Sister Callista Roy s Adaptation Model. Roy s adaptation model can be applied

Pi s Passion For Many Different Religions
At the beginning of the novel, we are introduced to Pi s passion for many different religions. Pi
is a believer, and he prays, as well as, analyzes the depth of religion. Do you feel that throughout
the first few days during Pi s survival on the lifeboat, Pi continues to exhibit and carry through
religion based procedures to calm and assist him in his means of survival?
From the very start it is revealed to us that Piscine Molitor Patel is extremely passionate about
religion. In fact, the entire introduction and first part of the novel revolves around Pi expressing his
love for all types of religion, and describing his beliefs for each and every one of them
(Hinduism, Islam, Christianity). Pi talks about everyone s confusion on which religion he
supports, as they believe, one can support only one religion. What is your son doing going to the
temple? Your son was seen in church crossing himself. Your son has gone Muslim However,
when Pi is thrown out onto the lifeboat by the sailors of his ship going to Canada, I see a huge
change in the intensity and amount of connections Pi makes to religion. On the lifeboat, during
the first few days at sea, Pi completely forgets about all of his prayers. I believe that this is because
Pi completely loses his faith when he is the only one to survive out of his family, and he is on a
tiny life boat with a huge Bengal tiger, and a hyena. I think that Pi s love of religion came from all
of the hope stored inside of him. However,

Analysis Of Raja Rao s Book
Philosophy permeating through Raja Rao s novels is generally held to be Vedantic in tone and
temper. Being a Vedantin, he seeks Truth on the lines of Advaitavada and frequently refers to
the precepts from the Upanishadas. To him, writing is a visible expression of his deeply felt
spiritual experiences. Duly recognizing man s deep need to seek and realize Truth, he
endeavours to revive the traditional Indian quest with all its rigour. The Advaita philosophy of
Sankaracharya forms the core of Raja Rao s fictional world. Sankaracharya expounded the
Advaita philosophy in its final form, imparting to it impeccable perfection. This paper focuses
on the Advait philosophy by Raja Rao with special reference to The Cat and Shakeshpeare and
The Serpent and The Rope. Advait Philosophy in Raja Rao s Novels Raja Rao s quest for Truth,
urged him to delve deep into Indian philosophy and literature. Indian philosophy is no mere
speculation into the nature of reality. It is a sublime and unique system based on mystic and

Analyzing Gallagher’s Oroonoko’s Blackness Essay
Analyzing Gallagher s Oroonoko s Blackness
Oroonoko is a fascinating text overflowing with descriptions of complex relations between and
within the different races. The attitudes and actions of the Aphra Behn and her characters would
make for a rich analysis from any number of behavioral approaches, but there are many more layers
to this story than the dominant racial themes. In fact, in Oroonoko s Blackness Catherine Gallagher
argues that the main character s unusually dark skin color actually represents kingship,
commodification, and the degree to which he and the author are embodied in the work. Though
Gallagher recognizes the significance of Oroonoko s ethnicity in the conflict between the African
and European groups, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She adds that Oroonoko is also associated with worth in that his color establishes him as a
marketable good. Because he is black and able to be sold in the slave trade, a quantitative value
can be placed on him, transforming him into a commodity. And the fact that he is darker than
other blacks suggests that he would receive a higher price. So Gallagher believes that Oroonoko s
blackness conveys a higher value, and because of her clear reasoning, the reader does, too.
When these ideas, personal worth and blackness, are combined, Oroonoko appears separated
from and elevated above the rest of his race. Gallagher writes that this creates the notion of
kingship, that Oroonoko is really a culmination of all of his subjects less perfect darkness (94).
Despite Oroonoko s royalty, the reader would naturally question why he should represent kingship
when it is his grandfather that rules over everyone, including Oroonoko. Gallagher anticipates this
and describes how the grandfather is merely brown and has a failing body, thereby falling short of
Oroonoko s greater blackness and perfection, which better fulfills the common perception of the
mystical body of kingship (94). She further supports this by citing Oroonoko s treatment of his
subjects as property through the slave trade, which only kingship gives him the right to do. John

Management Theories
A manager s role is to plan, make decisions, and co ordinate the organising, leading and controlling
of an organisation s resources, in order to achieve organisational goals in an efficient and effective
manner (Davidson, Simon, Woods Griffin, 2009). Management theories from the past can be
utilised by contemporary managers, enabling them to consider a range of perspectives on how to
approach problems, make decisions and develop systems designed to reap the benefits of employees
exhibiting desirable behaviours (Davidson et al, 2009). Despite the common conception that
theories are abstract and irrelevant to practical situations, managementtheories are grounded in

Managers can learn a lot from the positives and negatives of scientific management. In modern
organisations, increasing efficiency is always a desirable outcome, however case studies involving
scientific management highlight the danger of focussing on efficiency at the expense of employees
satisfaction. Henri Fayol, Max Weber and Chester Barnard were three contributors to administrative
management, the branch of classical management concerned with the organisation as a whole
(Davidson et al, 2009).
Henri Fayol (1841 1925) described fourteen basic principles of management, which provide the
basis for the four basic categories planning, leading, organising and controlling used in most
contemporary management books (Davidson et al, 2009). Under Fayol s system, the management
process goes beyond the basic hierarchical model developed by Taylor. The command function
continues to operate effectively through a series of co ordination and control methods. Regular
managerial meetings were recommended to improve co ordination of organisational operations
(Pindur et al, 1995). Fayol s categorisation of managerial principles is a useful reference point for
contemporary managers to examine their behaviours against (Davidson et al, 1995).
Max Weber is often referred to as the father of bureaucratic management (Pindur et al, 1995). He

Domain analysis revealed that all the NLRP proteins (excluding NLRP10) comprised of three
functional domains; N terminal PYD, central NACHT and variable numbers of C terminal
LRRs. NLRP1 has two additional domains, FIIND and CARD towards the C terminal region
(next to LRR), whereas NLRP10 lacks the LRR (Fig. 1a; Supplementary Table. S1). Consistent
with recently resolved structures [mNlrc4 (4KXF) and OcNOD2 (5IRL)], and sequence analysis
results, we outlined three functional sub domains of NACHT/NOD modules; (a) the nucleotide
binding domain (NDB) positioned after Pyrin domain (PYD), (b) the helical domain 1 (HD1) and
(c) the winged helix domain (WHD)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
S3) were considered for further studies (Fig. S1a). A close visual inspection of docked
conformations showed a conserved ATP binding pattern except for NLRP5, NLRP8, and NLRP9.
Till date, only two ADP bound NLR structures have been resolved experimentally [mNlrc4 (4KXF)
and OcNOD2 (5IRN)] and both the structures shared a common nucleotide binding orientation28,
29. Therefore, we adopted the manual approach of docking; where the Оі phosphate group of ATP
was deeply buried inside the cavity, and adenine moiety was positioned outward (Fig. S1b). To
understand the binding mode and dynamic stability of ATP, MD simulations of both the prepared
ATP bound NLRPNACHT complexes [complex I (AutoDock) and complex II (manually docked)]
were performed for 60ns time scale. Manually docked NLRPNACHT ATP complexes exhibited a
good binding stability The experimental evidence suggested that Walker A (GxxxxGK[S/T]) of
AAA+ ATPase proteins has the major contribution in nucleotide binding and particularly, it
coordinates the ОІ/Оі phosphate group of NTPs28 37. To acquire a stable NLRPNACHT ATP
complex for interaction analysis, a combined root mean square deviation (RMSD) of Walker A
and ATP was calculated, and the result indicated a stable array of deviation in manually docked
systems except in NLRP13 (Fig. 2a). Further, we analyzed the total numbers of intermolecular H
bonds between ATP and NLRPNACHT from the obtained trajectories as the function of

Bartleby, the Hero in Herman Melville’s Short Story...
Bartleby, The Hero in Herman Melville s short Story Bartleby the Scrivener In Herman Melville
s short story Bartleby the Scrivener, Bartleby is the hero. The reasons as to why Bartleby is
considered the hero of the story are that first, the character refuses to write in his job in the law
office. He even starves himself to death by refusing to eat, but in the end, the spirit of Bartleby still
remains alive and haunts the narrator. Throughout his life, the narrator remains haunted by the
spiritual pride and continues to struggle with the principles of morality and justice. Bartleby is also
a hero because he not only shows his courage towards confronting the society using his will power,
but he also shapes the conscience of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This aspect of Bartleby s heroism affects the story by developing a new theme to the story and
developing the character of the narrator who is part of the story as the boss to Bartleby. It
develops the theme of association between chronometrical time and the world of the spirits. It
also changes the character of the narrator because he develops a new attitude towards time, and
the world of spirits, which changes his normal way of belief. The narrator of the story becomes
shocked when he discovers that Bartleby, who only feeds on ginger nuts, has never left the
office. This is actually the first time that the narrator experiences the spiritual power that Bartleby
possesses. The narrator is so much business oriented that he only looks at the world in terms of
profits. However, when he encounters this aspect of the spirit of Bartleby, his attitude towards life
changes. He begins appreciating the fact that Bartleby deserves better treatment, not in the
capitalist way. The narrator even sees what is a right, just as an asset, but this perception is later
changed by Bartleby s spirit: What earthly right have you to stay here? Do you pay any rent? Do
you pay my taxes? Or is this property yours? (Melville, 41). The perception of the narrator, of
everything including rights of Bartleby as assets prevents the narrator from understanding the
spiritual aspect of the pride in Bartleby. Although the narrator

  • 2. Five Broken Cameras Imagine living in a conflict that has divided two nations, literally, by a concrete barrier. This turbulent and heated confrontation has left many dead and even more injured. Welcome to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. The documentary 5 Broken Cameras is a portrayal of this modern day dispute through the personal lens of self taught Palestinian cameraman, Emad Burnat. This compelling documentary provides a realistic presentation of the hatred that surrounds these two divided nations. Movie viewers will be drawn to this film is because it demonstrates the harsh realities of what it is like to live in the midst of a conflict and how the lives of those affected are altered as a result of this prolonged struggle. Burnat is certainly effective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather, it demonstrates the first hand effects of families who have lived through travesty and hardship. By connecting the increased intensity of the conflict and displaying it alongside Gibreel s growth, the audience is quickly drawn in and engaged in the film. Burnat successfully draws this parallel in order to hit his message close to home and make sure that it sticks. His message is as follows: The political crisis that unites and separates these two distinct cultures is not necessarily bound to be resolved soon, however, during the midst of this crisis, it is more than just politics that needs to be exemplified and understood. Essay On Cash Loans Once you ve finished reading this article, you should know enough about cash loans to make the right decision about them, and also be able to explain them to others Advances with payday loans help you get through to your next payday. These loans always come with strict fees attached. When you fall behind in your bills, you could ask for extensions and work closely with your utility service providers to pay your arrangers. Or you can go for a payday loan. A payday loans is designed for instant relief in emergency situations. Things like utilities about to be shut off, car repairs, overdrafts, tuition fees, or health costs can be good times to seek a payday loan. Payday advance loans are generally extended for a two week period. Sometimes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They just verify your employment and banking information, and process the loan. But there are a few that will have you fax them documents with signatures. The way payday advance help is in their flexibility. A borrower can be at ease knowing this transaction is private and discreet. Many advances are used for common things that can sneak up on us by our mishandling of our monthly budgets. When you search on the Internet for a loan, you ll see there are many websites devoted to this industry. If you can find one closer to your area, it could serve you better. Some lenders of these loans are restricted to their own areas. There is a bit of controversy surrounding this industry in many places, and some states are trying to shut these resources down. Many people and officials claim that these payday loans are preying on people who are down financially, and taking advantage. They feel these lenders are merciless, greedy, and gluttonous, making their profits off the misfortune of others. In this thesis statement I will thoroughly explain the Manifest Destiny, and how colonists feared the United States. In 1864 the BNA Act was drafted by the Quebec Conference on Canadian confederation. Counter argument The Manifest Destiny showed the hatred of the United States (US) for every other terrain that was not their own. The US used the 19th century period of American Expansion that was destined to stretch from coast to coast. The preowned way of the attitude prevalent fired up disasters, War with Mexico broke out and harsh removal of the Native Americans. • 14. Human Nature And Nature In The Ecotone By James Clifford Human actions do not disturb the pristineness of nature but add into the pristineness by enhancing nature. Artificial structures, such as the landfills and flood control gates aid in protection of property, but cause destruction of certain animal habitats. However, artificial structures in the Bay Area have an ecotonal relationship with nature. Building the floodgates sacrifice the habitatin place of the floodgate, but in the long term, protects more habitats. In The Ecotone by James Clifford, Clifford shows the university has a symbiotic relationship with nature. In Man, the Dominant Animal by RatCliffe, RatCliffe introduces how human actions go through a cycle of aiding and destroying peregrine life. Landfills help reduce the contamination of toxic chemicals with nature. Floodgates protect buildings against nature s floods, which create millions of dollars in damage of trees and animal habitat. In the Bay Area, cities, such as Milpitas debate if a floodgate is more beneficial or damaging, and San Francisco debated how to remove the contamination from the rust of old war ships. In my interview with MetCalfe, MetCalfe claims that human machines help nature dispose of waste through the use of anaerobic digesters. Artificial structures have an ecotonal relationship with nature because the relationship consists of a mergence between the two communities. This is important because humans must create artificial structures in a way that will not harm nature. In the writing, In the Ecotone by Jim Clifford, Clifford argues that the composite environment is always being assembled and reassembled with friction and difficulty (Clifford 7). In other words, the intersection between human made structures is a natural event of nature because nature continually consists of rearrangement of members. Gathering from Clifford, artificial structures, such as buildings, do not disturb nature but are a part of the natural ecotone. This view is important today because many have a one sided, negative view of construction of buildings. Dove s choice of words lets the reader empathize with her confined life. In this poem, irony exists for the mere fact that from birth to adulthood the female population is brought up to feel fulfilled by simply becoming a wife and mother; however, this poem describes the monotonous duties and the joyless bond that can be between husband and wife. Additionally, the main character s husband shows some selfish tendencies in the fact that he may not notice his wife s discontentment with his affection. However, this may also present the lack of communication between man and wife and therefore may cause a sense of isolation from her husband. The main character possesses the characteristics of most young women, a full plate of responsibility and the lack of freedom that can wither away a person s soul. My response to this poem is that I strongly respect the author for bringing up such a controversial issue such as discontentment with being a stay at home mother, since this is usually to be expected of women. Dove explains the poem delicately and leaves the underlying sense that she may have possibly been through the situation herself. • 25. How Does Immigration Affect The United States Economy Essay Weilin Ju, Baoxin Yang Dr. Dean He Commerce and Economic Development November 27, 2016 How does immigration affect the United States economy Abstract: Foreign born workers have dramatically increased in the Unites States due to immigration. How does immigration affect the United States economy can be researched by finding the difference in productivity and income per worker between states which have large inflows of foreign born worker and those without many immigrants. Official data shows that states with large immigrant inflows have higher productive capacity because they can attract foreign and domestic investment. With higher productivity capacity, worker s wage would also soar. However, some people point out that foreign born workers are stealing work opportunity from local workers; actually, there is no evidence to confirm that. Recent years, more and more foreign people immigrate to the United States by a variety of approaches. How does immigration affect United States economy is now a hot topic discussed by economists and ordinary citizens. Many people believe that foreign born workers are thieves who steal their work opportunities; meanwhile, many people point out that these immigrants are essential for United States society because many of them are doing the job that local people are not willing to do such as cleaner and sewer workers. Most economists find no relationship between large immigration inflows and local worker s employment rate and wage level. A recent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Mental Deterioration In Hamlet Madness does not have an exact cause but, rather it is the combination of psychological and environmental factors that can cause mental deterioration. Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark has the reoccurring theme of madness demonstrated through the protagonist s downward spiral into insanity. Therefore, Shakespeare s tragic hero, Hamlet, throughout the course of his journey, undergoing traumatic events, communications with the supernatural and his inability to decipher right from wrong, ultimately prove his mental state to have been affected, making him mad. Repeated exposure to tragic events can trigger traumatic stress being a detrimental factor to an individual s mental state. In The Tragedy of Hamlet, the protagonist, ... Hamlet shows no remorse, Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool, farewell. /I took thee for thy better. Take thy fortune. / Thou find st to be too busy is some danger (III.iv.185). He realizes he mistakenly killed the wrong man, yet Hamlet shows no sign of regret for killing Polonius. Hamlet s lack of empathy corroborates to the idea that his madness causes him to lose his humanity. In the beginning of the play, Hamlet proves to be meticulous when it comes to attain revenge, however, Hamlet s madness escalated to the point where Polonius is carelessly killed. Hamlet having experienced parental loss and knowing the suffering it brings, in a right state of mind, no sane person would wish that suffering onto another person. Author Barbara, notes, The loss of her [Ophelia s] father her link to emotional security once she can no longer trust in her own perceptions is the final, fatal assault on her tenuous mental stability and survival instinct (Smith 98).. Hamlet is insanely consumed with revenge that he has become murderous and insensitive for not thinking about the sorrow and grief it will give Laertes and Ophelia. Hamlet s actions are altered by his madness making him unaware that he is the indirect cause of Ophelia s madness. When Hamlet s kills Polonius he becomes conscienceless, nonetheless, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern s killings show the cynical side of Hamlet s madness. He tells Horatio about, [Rosencrantz s and Guildenstern s] defeat/ Does by their own insinuation grow. / Tis dangerous when the baser nature comes / Between the pass and fell incensed points (V. ii. 62 65). • 27. Representation Of The Hollywood Television Industry Representation Matters: Diversity in the Hollywood Television Industry A recent study done by the UCLA Bunche Center for African American Studies showed the lack of diversity within Hollywood by examining all the films released, television programs on broadcast, cable, or digital networks, as well as the actors, writers, directors, and producers within the industry. Ethnic minorities make up about 40% of the American population but still remain underrepresented in all forms of entertainment. The study also discovered that more than 50% of moviegoers in the past two years were minorities. In television, minorities only claimed about 7% of lead roles in broadcast television ( NEW! 2015 Hollywood Diversity Report ). With half the American population consisting of different ethnicities, American television should accurately and proportionately portray the American people, yet some are having trouble doing so. Some television networks have catered to their diverse audience by casting actors of different ethnicities as the lead of a show, or by centering an entire show around a unique culture. Most have found this to be beneficial with an increase in ratings and in profits through their sponsors. The organizations, the Florida Family Association (FFA) and the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) represent two different positions on diversity within Hollywood and how the American people should be portrayed in the television industry. • 30. Frederic Chopin as the Greatest Romantic Composer Essay In the course of the development of music, many great composers have contributed their brilliance towards the revolution of music. To be a great composer does not necessarily mean that they have reached a vast amount of fame. However, it means that their compositions have ingenuity and value. The melodies they have cleverly created have reached a point of worthiness in the world of music. For it is the sweet harmonies a composer creates that defines who he is. One of these gifted composers was Frederic Chopin, born on February 22, 1810 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. Young Chopin was already composing by the age of eight and as his musical career developed he became known as a master of pianocomposition. Although he was often misunderstood... With this clever innovation of harmonics, Chopin was highly ranked amongst other composers making him an even greater influence towards the world of piano playing. Already rising up to becoming a great icon, Chopin played a major role in the art of composing piano pieces. Chopin created his own original technique that made his music so ingenious. He composed the Trois Nouvelles Etudes , the three new studies. These studies showed his various new techniques that later influenced the keyboard, and music itself (Hueneker 140). Chopin also constructed his own original pieces by including different genres of music into one composition. For example, he would combine a polonaise and a mazurka, two different Polish dances, one being slow while the other is lively. Frederic Chopin also influenced composition with his genius use of the piano. He used the instrument to its fullest effect to create a beautiful and expressive piece (Politoske, Daniel T.). His creativity was prominently brought out this way as he was able to produce melody and harmony (Samson 4). As a matter of fact, Chopin reached fame for his various piano compositions rather than his orchestral pieces (Politoske, Daniel T.). His arrangements utilized the piano in the most unique way which is why other musicians and his audiences admired his music. Arthur Rubinstein stated that, ...all possible expressions are found in his compositions and are all sung by him upon his instrument, (Hueneker 91). Even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the very start it is revealed to us that Piscine Molitor Patel is extremely passionate about religion. In fact, the entire introduction and first part of the novel revolves around Pi expressing his love for all types of religion, and describing his beliefs for each and every one of them (Hinduism, Islam, Christianity). Pi talks about everyone s confusion on which religion he supports, as they believe, one can support only one religion. What is your son doing going to the temple? Analyzing Gallagher’s Oroonoko’s Blackness Essay Analyzing Gallagher s Oroonoko s Blackness Oroonoko is a fascinating text overflowing with descriptions of complex relations between and within the different races. The attitudes and actions of the Aphra Behn and her characters would make for a rich analysis from any number of behavioral approaches, but there are many more layers to this story than the dominant racial themes. In fact, in Oroonoko s Blackness Catherine Gallagher argues that the main character s unusually dark skin color actually represents kingship, commodification, and the degree to which he and the author are embodied in the work. Though Gallagher recognizes the significance of Oroonoko s ethnicity in the conflict between the African and European groups, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She adds that Oroonoko is also associated with worth in that his color establishes him as a marketable good. Because he is black and able to be sold in the slave trade, a quantitative value can be placed on him, transforming him into a commodity. And the fact that he is darker than other blacks suggests that he would receive a higher price. So Gallagher believes that Oroonoko s blackness conveys a higher value, and because of her clear reasoning, the reader does, too. When these ideas, personal worth and blackness, are combined, Oroonoko appears separated from and elevated above the rest of his race. Gallagher writes that this creates the notion of kingship, that Oroonoko is really a culmination of all of his subjects less perfect darkness (94). Despite Oroonoko s royalty, the reader would naturally question why he should represent kingship when it is his grandfather that rules over everyone, including Oroonoko. Gallagher anticipates this and describes how the grandfather is merely brown and has a failing body, thereby falling short of Oroonoko s greater blackness and perfection, which better fulfills the common perception of the mystical body of kingship (94). She further supports this by citing Oroonoko s treatment of his subjects as property through the slave trade, which only kingship gives him the right to do. John Locke s Two ... Henri Fayol, Max Weber and Chester Barnard were three contributors to administrative management, the branch of classical management concerned with the organisation as a whole (Davidson et al, 2009). Henri Fayol (1841 1925) described fourteen basic principles of management, which provide the basis for the four basic categories planning, leading, organising and controlling used in most contemporary management books (Davidson et al, 2009). Under Fayol s system, the management process goes beyond the basic hierarchical model developed by Taylor. The command function continues to operate effectively through a series of co ordination and control methods. Regular managerial meetings were recommended to improve co ordination of organisational operations (Pindur et al, 1995). Fayol s categorisation of managerial principles is a useful reference point for contemporary managers to examine their behaviours against (Davidson et al, 1995).
