Personal Statement On Health Improvement Plan
For the very first time in my life, I had executed a series of behavior changes in order to lose fifteen pounds
by this semester. I am pleased and more than grateful to see that my customized plan is successful, and took
effect in different aspects of my well being. I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become , I
believe this quote by Carl Jung encapsulated why my health improvement plan would work determination
incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I would like to discuss in details what and why had my
behavior changes improved both my short term and long term health.
I followed the Copenhagen diet a thirteen day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I started this diet
on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous appetite, before
disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few days, I was constantly
hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. I wasn t able to strictly follow what is written on the
menu, and I irresistibly ate between meals for several days when I was famished. Fortunately, I had been able
to resist the temptations of junk foods foods containing excessive calories, fat, sugar and salt. I only ate fruits
or muesli when I was feeling hungry. These acts of violation subsided completely on the fourth day, and I
started to get use to a reduced daily calorie intake. Throughout this thirteen days, I generally had a steady loss
of one pound

Growing Up In The Rain Quotes With Page Numbers
1.) Fact then: Somehow, my travels crossed time as well as distance. Another fact: The boy was the focus of
my travels perhaps the cause of them. Pg.24
This quote is very important when pertaining to the setting of the story. The main character, Dana, finds
herself traveling to another dimension. The quote shows Dana s realization that she is traveling from a
California home in 1976 to Maryland plantation pre Civil War. The setting is finally determined to the reader,
as well. Letting the reader know she is switching between two different time periods.

Pg. 149
Luke advises his son, Nigel, about how to interact with white people. Luke does his work in a satisfactory
fashion and keeps others in line. This is inspiring to Dana because he shows her how to hide her inner
rebellion with a calm, humble approach. Luke eventually is sold for carrying himself like a white man . This
shows that slaves behavior is mostly irrelevant and they are just sold for no reason or put up for any crime
possible. They are just portrayed as something to be made a profit. This quote shows the importance of the
plot as the way slaves were portrayed and treated.
4.) I could recall walking along the narrow dirt road that ran past the Weylin house and seeing the house,

Individuality, Equality, And Sameness
Individuality, Equality, and Sameness
What is the differentiation between equality and sameness? How does one s identity effect these two notions?
In Bradbury s and Vonnegut s fictitious stories, The Pedestrian , Fahrenheit 451 , and Harrison Bergeron ,
these concepts and their relationship is depicted to the reader in the form of dystopias. These dystopias may
not exist, but these science fictional societies certainly could be made to exist. These stories contain elements
that anyone can relate to, and like all science fiction, accommodate real life factors such as technology, life,
and government. Bradbury s and Vonnegut s stories convey the message that humanity needs to acknowledge
its own need for individuality and be aware of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The television program was suddenly interrupted for a news bulletin. It wasn t clear at first as to what the
bulletin was about, since the announcer, like all announcers, had a serious speech impediment...the announcer
tried to say ladies and gentlemen, he finally gave up, handed the bulletin to the ballerina to read...she had to
apologize at once for her voice, which was a very unfair voice for a woman to use. Her voice was warm,
luminous, timeless melody (Kurt Bergeron Page. 3). Mr. Bergeron enclosed this quote, to show that instead
of having people employed that best suit a job, characters often take jobs that do not suit them. Not only
could this cause a person to be miserable with their work, but it limits the occupations one can have, and
makes it extremely hard to exceed in a trade or career. As a result, there s a society where people are
punished for being different, where there is an absurd idea that it is possible for citizens to have equality and
sameness at the same time, and an environment, where no one is joyful. That is to say, that sameness is not
equality, much less happiness.
In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 readers enter a society where everyone has similar
items, where everyone learns the same facts, and where there is a minuscule amount of crime. However, no
one interacts with each other. In The Pedestrian the majority of people prefer to stay

The Importance Of IT Risk Management Training Program
An appropriate IT risk management training program must above all be relevant to the skills required to
mitigate the kinds of risk to which an organization s critical information is exposed. A poorly framed or
overly generalized risk training program may fail to adequately prepare employees for real world threats to
an organization s critical IT infrastructure. It is with this in mind that the assignment at hand seeks to explore
training program requirements for an organization that deals with information, both classified and
unclassified, related to the United States defense. In order to complete this assignment, it is important to
conduct myriad steps, including to evaluate what available federal guidelines are appropriate for ... Show

Furthermore, compliance schedules for NIST security standards and guidelines are established by OMB in
policies, directives, or memoranda. Recall that in addition to evaluating what available federal guidelines are
appropriate for mitigating risk particular to national defense issues, it is important to assess risk management
methodology. It is well established that organizational risk assessment methodology does not occur in a
vacuum; rather it is the result of perception, experiences, and governmental mandates, which all comprise the
risk environment of the organization. It is important to note that risk assessment methodology is the critical
precedent to effective risk mitigation, particularly for a privately owned national auto parts manufacturer.
This process involves a series of steps, depending on the appropriate strategy adopted for the particular risk
situation facing an organization. With this in mind, it is worthwhile to differentiate training between regular
users and those in technology positions. Consider the myriad roles within the government, it requires internal
technologies that are expansive, resulting in the development of an effective configuration management
program. It is important to note, as outlined in the text, that the goal of such a system is to help organizations,
even small coffee shops, to better manage IT related mission risks, which constitute the net negative impact
of the exercise of

A Brief Note On Electro Encephalography ( Eeg )
Electro encephalography : Electro Encephalography (EEG) is primarily an electrophysiological monitoring
method, recording the electrical activity of the brain. It involves placing electrodes along the scalp, which
measure voltage fluctuations resulting from the ionic flux across the brain neurons. These are recorded
graphically and typically referred to as brain waves . Prior to the advent of Computed Tomography (CTScan)
and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG monitoring was the primary diagnostic tool for stroke,
epilepsy and other focal brain disorders. EEG monitoring in the settings of cardiac surgery can be initiated
before induction by anesthesia and continues in the post operative phase , in the intensive care unit (ICU).
EEG monitoring is useful to detect seizures . The most common neurological symptoms manifest in the
neonatal cardiac surgical intensive care unit include Non convulsive seizures and Status Epilepticus; the
primary cause being Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy(HIC). Studies reveal that the incidents of HIC
increase in the presence of adverse events like cardiac arrest and also in the use of Mechanical Circulatory
Support, ECMO,etc. EEG can be influenced by the use of hypothermia and anesthetic agents. Use of deep
hypothermia leads to isoelectricity, a marker of reduction in cerebral metabolism. The threshold for
isoelectricty can be a useful indication for adequacy of

Poetry And History Of Chinese Immigrants On Angel Island

John Cheng
November 11, 2016 Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island
Chinese immigration to the United States began in large number during the California Gold Rush. Many
people came to the country hoping to find jobs and fortune for themselves and their families back in China.
Among those immigrants many stayed in the country and others went back to China.
The point of entry for these Chinese immigrants to California between 1910 and 1940 was the Angles Island
in San Francisco. The Island was like that of the Ellis Island in New York. These islands were the
immigration detention headquarters for the immigrants waiting on their medical examinations and
immigration papers. It was also the holding ground for deportees awaiting transportation back to the mother
land.
Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island, by Him Mark Lai is a collection of the
poems that was restored from the walls and barracks of the Angles Island. The author had selected the sixty
nine poems which were classified into different categories to show the history of the immigration. The five
section are The Voyage, The Detainment, The Weak Shall Conquer, The Westerners, Deportees, Transients.
Each of these sections includes the restored poems found in the barrack and the oral histories from peoples
who spend their time in the Island, Immigration Interpreters, Immigration Inspectors.

A Summary Of Traditional Religion In Society
Butler uses traditional religion in the novel to demonstrate the ways in which it can be a destructive or
constructive force in society. Butler demonstrates the dangers of dogmatic, authoritarian religion when it is
used as an excuse to ignore the needs of others and the changes in society. Religion is not inherently a
destructive force; it becomes a destructive force in Lauren s community when it is used to control and limit
thinking because of deference to church leaders such as Lauren s father. There is no motivation to adapt or
change. The religion in Lauren s neighborhood, led by her father, prevents its members from moving forward
as they believe in a literal acceptance of everything in the Bible (Butler 23). The community s interpretation
of the Bible does not help them adapt as society changes. By taking the Bible literally rather than using it as a
guide for understanding the world around them, as an example of how to extend community to the people
who have been ostracized, the community uses religion as an excuse to focus on themselves rather than
focusing on others with further supports the neoliberalism in their society. Lauren s community is willing to
leave the safety of the community to have a baptism in big tub of expensive water (Butler 16). Lauren points
out that it would be less expensive and less dangerous to be baptized at home in a bath tub, but no one pays
attention to her idea. She writes, to adults, going outside to a real church is like

A Study On Working Capital
Maeghan Gaines 29 November 2014 FINA 150 Semester Project Chapter 14 Executive Summary: Working
Capital I chose to research working capital because I did not know the term nor the significant role it plays in
operating a business. I learned that working capital is the requirements for running normal business
operations on a daily basis. It is the necessary amount needed to keep the doors open and is analyzed for a
period of about a year. Working capital is essential for fulfilling business operating needs. Cash that is spent
is not considered working capital because it can no longer be used by the company to invest. Working capital
is the cash surplus within the company used to make more money. Implementing an effective working ...

Also, the level of fixed assets and current assets depends on the expected sales but only the current assets can
be adjusted with fluctuating sales in a diminutive period. Most importantly, time must be considered when
managing fixed assets. Discounting and compounding of time play a major role in capital budgeting and a
minor role in the management of current assets. Ultimately, a business can survive without appropriate
working capital policy, but a firm without working capital has a much smaller life span than businesses that
are well capitalized. Working Capital Policy Introduction: Working Capital is the single most important
component of a business or firm because it has a direct impact on the cash flows. Working capital is the
capital you require for the working functioning of your business in the short run (BBI). There are two types
of working capital; gross working capital and net working capital. Gross working capital is current assets.
Net working capital is the difference between current assets and current liabilities. Net working capital will
be referred to as simply working capital in this paper. Operating Cash flows arise from normal business
operations and is the difference between cash expenses associated with the manufacturing and sales of
products and the cash collected from the sales. Since cash flow is the main priority for

Use Of Personification And Irony In Edgar Allen Poe s The...
Edgar Allen Poe s use of personification and irony helps create a sinister tone in his short story, The Tell Tale
Heart . While standing motionless in the old man s room, the narrator thinks that he knew what the old man
felt, and pitied him, although I chuckled at heart (Poe 3). This shows that the narrator s insane excitement at
the chance to kill the old man outweighs his compassion for him through the use of irony, the contrast
between sympathy and killing intent also helps define his character as an insane man with no morals. He is
able to shove aside his compassion to get the job done. Earlier on in the story, the narrator admits to the old
man s innocence, I loved the old man. He had done me no wrong (Poe 2), this show that

The Chernobyl Fallout
Chernobyl s Fallout When I was informed we were doing a multi genre project I chose Chernobyl because it
was interesting what the radiation could do when it wasn t being contained correctly. What sparked my
interest for this topic was when I was watching the show River Monsters, where Jeremy Wade went to
Chernobyl to fish near the incident when he caught a fish that was common there, he commented Wow! This
fish is huge. This fish looks to have mutated from the incident that happened a few years ago. (Wade) This
also caught my interest the most because there is also a game called Fallout, this game took place in the
aftermath of a world nuclear bombing, and the fallout was still in effect worldwide. Since I could go on

The people then started to panic and evacuate once they started to get affected by the radiation. During the
incident over 350,000 people evacuated Chernobyl and the surrounding area, to get away from the radiation
exposure, they have survived but there still was a fallout of the radiation might have killed more people, but
the other survivors most likely died from the thyroid cancers that they developed. The fallout of the
Chernobyl meltdown was also very destructive, the radius of the fallout (the worst parts of it) was at max
100Km all around Chernobyl causing the surrounding areas to also get a dose of the Chernobyl incidents
radiation. According to Seibersdorf The released radionuclides were lifted to an altitude of more than 500 m
where they could be transported for long distances. This lead to a global dispersion of the released
radionuclides not anticipated to that amount up to now. The major three plumes carrying radionuclides from
the power plant in the first 6 days are shown in Fig. 1. The first plume transported the nuclides in northern
direction to Finland and Sweden where the environmental monitoring systems of the Swedish reactors gave
the first hint in a western country that some major release in the USSR must have occurred (Muck). The
fallout was the worst part because it remained to fall and affect areas (that were not contaminated) dangerous

4. Car recalls. Last year, General Motors recalled 119,000 pickups due to missing hood latch. The same year
it had to recall it Chevrolet Volt and fix battery problems. Recalls are expensive and damages brand
reputation, especially when the company announces them so often. Opportunities 1. Positive attitude towards
green vehicles. Today consumers are more aware of the negative effects (air pollution) caused by cars fueled
by petrol and diesel. Large quantities of CO2 emissions intensify greenhouse effect and negatively impact the
life on earth. Thus, consumers are more likely to buy new hybrid and electric cars that emit less CO2. 2.
Increasing fuel prices. Increasing fuel prices open up large markets for GM s hybrid and electric cars as
consumers shift towards cheaper fuel types. 3. Changing customer needs. By introducing new car models,
General Motors would be able to meet changing customer needs for smaller and more fuel efficient cars. 4.
Growth through acquisitions. GM has successfully acquired many car companies in the past and should
continue doing so to gain new skills, assets and access to new markets. Threats 1. Fluctuating fuel prices.
Due to increasing extraction of shale gas, future fuel prices should drop and make electric and hybrid cars
less attractive. GM would treat the projects of hybrid and electric cars as losses, rather than perspective future

Easy, Breazy, Beautiful Cover Girl Campaign
Beauty is an ideal that materializes in all different types of women. This notion is one that a majority of
women across the world learn to strive for. They fill their lives with daily routines that maintain an image as
close to perfection as they can. Exercising, putting on accessories, picking their outfit of the day and
attempting to apply varying amounts makeup for an effortless look is a lifestyle common to many womem.
Despite these notions, CoverGirl promotes a message that one s own look is not as strenuous as countless
women believe it to be and that applying makeup every day does not imply that women are required to create
masks or layers of fake skin to feel beautiful. Makeup should simply be an aid for women who need that
extra boost of confidence for the day. CoverGirl proves this to their loyal customers through their Easy,
Breezy, Beautiful, CoverGirl campaign. This slogan explains their goal; it highlights the importance of
natural beauty and embodies the idea of simply enhancing that beauty with just a touch of their makeup.
Advertisements can deceive with the words that they say and the images they show, but there are always
stronger factors that overcome the hidden assumptions in every advertisement. In the end, the audience is
persuaded to seek the product and the goal of the advertisement has been achieved. CoverGirl uses the
appeals of ethos and pathos in their advertisement to promote a claim that all women have a natural glow and
beauty that can be

The Election of 1928 for US President
The election of 1828 marked a major turning point in America political history. A new style of substance
became the rule. New techniques of mass mobilization, such as campaign advertising, public speeches, and
other kinds of political propaganda became essential to running a successful campaign. Three main factors
contributed to the rise of a new kind of politics by the election of 1828, the contentious presidential election
of 1824, the expansion of the voting right and the American economic Boom. The corrupt bargain
presidential election of 1824 led the entire nation to become increasingly political which led to the rise of the
two party system. The split between Clay and Adams on the hand and Jackson on the other hand was a key
step in the development of the two party system. By 1824, the followers of Jackson called themselves the
Jacksonian and they advocated a strong executive branch, and favored continuous westward expansion. Clay
and Adams chose the name National Republicans which they later change to Whig, in honor of Britain s
Whigs who had protested the authoritarian actions of the king of England (thus insinuating that Jackson
desired to be a dictatorial King). Clay and Adam advocated a strong legislature, and government funded
internal improvements. The expansion of these various political parties saw the public interest toward politic
rose. Because of this rise Political Candidates had no choice but to mingle with the masses and earn their

Helen Tamiris Biography Essay
On April 24, 1903, one of the founders of American modern dance was born to parents who emigrated from
Russia. Helen Tamiris, originally Helen Becker, grew up in New York, New York on the Lower East Side. In
her lifetime, she danced, choreographed, and helped initiate modern dance. Later in her life, she moved to the
Great White Way, otherwise known as Broadway, to choreograph many shows.
In 1911, or at the age of eight, Ms. Tamiris began studying dance at the Henry Street Settlement with Irene
Lewisohn. After that she studied with the children s chorus at the Metropolitan Opera Company, where she
learned Italian ballet techniques. Although she studied strict ballet techniques, she began to study modern ...

From 1927 to 1944, Tamiris s concert career persevered. During this time, she choreographed many works
for herself and others, such as Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, and members of the New Dance League
and Group. Tamiris choreographed works that were forceful and vivacious to express her belief that life was
a conflict.
Between 1928 and 1941, Helen Tamiris choreographed most likely best known works, Negro Spirituals. In
1928, at her second solo performance, she introduced two of the Negro Spirituals, Nobody Knows de Trouble
I See and Joshua Fit de Battle ob Jericho. This performance did so well that Tamiris performed the solos in
Paris and Berlin. In 1929, she added Swing Low, Sweet Chariot to her show in New York City. Then by
1932, Tamiris was dancing six of her Negro Spirituals. She also performed the piece Gris Gris Ceremonial
with the Bahama Negro Dancers in 1933 at the outdoor season of the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Along with dancing and choreographing, Tamiris also founded dance companies. In 1930, she helped
organize the Dance Repertory Theatre, where other choreographers, such as Martha Graham, Doris
Humphrey, and Charles Weidman, were joined together to create modern dance pieces. She served as the
president of the company for the first two years of its existence. She also served as the

Testing Software quality assurance is a very important part of the software development and installation. The
main objective of quality assurance is to avoid problems or to detect them as soon as possible (Shelly,
Cashman Rosenblatt, 2003, p. 410). The best case scenario is to have four instances of the system, a testing
environment, a user acceptance environment, a production environment, and a training environment. The
program can be tested on the testing and user acceptance environments. The initial and most important step
of the testing phase is creating the test plan. The test plan should include what features and functionality will
be tested based on the confirmed requirements. The next step is unit testing or code review. Unit testing
involves the QA person testing the code on their machine. Once code has passed the unit test, it will then be
released to the testing environment for system testing. The QA person can then test the integration of the
different modules of the code as a program rather than separate parts as well as to find and report bugs and
any data inaccuracy. The next phase of testing is the user acceptance test. In this phase the users test the
program for functionality and data accuracy. The test phase isn t a linear phase, more of a circular, back and
forth between the developers and the QA people. After all phases have passed, the next step would be to open

into prospective careers. Those who miss out on the opportunity to be mentored, have a lower chance to
perform at high levels or receive positions that are more successful. Mentors and protégé s work on
challenging tasks and activities together, in an effort to enhance the skills of the protégé. The earlier a protégé
is taken under the wing of a mentor proves extremely beneficial.
As we have learned white males are the majority opposed to women, ethnic women, and minorities. The
means that the chances of the mentor being a white male is extremely high, whereas the protégés are likely to
be any form of minority. It is often challenging to minorities (especially women). Although, mentoring
relationships are thought to be best between those who have similarities (educational background, gender,
race), it is beneficial for diverse teams to come together sharing cultural differences, views and mindsets.
Diversity actually brings forth a great deal of benefits for shaping and building the relationships in mentoring
teams. The bible shares with us in the bible that one generation shall commend your works to another, and
shall declare your mighty acts (Psalms 145:4, English Standard Version). We are destined to lead others and
teach them the things that will

Transactional Analysis In Games And Intimacy
To begin the introduction on games and intimacy it is important to understand the timeline of Transactional
Analysis. To begin with it is vital to note how human behaviour was explained before Eric Berne suggested
his explanations on transactional analysis. One of the important theories to explain human behaviour before
Eric Berne, is the most frequently cited and known work of Sigmund Freud. Freud s greatest contribution and
the one that influenced Berne was the fact that the human personality is multi faceted. Regardless of the
classification or name given to a particular area of personality, each individual possesses divisions that
frequently collide with each other. These collisions and interactions between these personality divisions
manifest themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Berne first published his theories on Transactional Analysis, he spent years formulating the
framework of this approach. He first defined a transaction as the fundamental unit of social intercourse.
Berne also defined a stroke the fundamental unit of social action. ( Transactional Analysis , 2015) According
to Woollams and Brown, 1978 a stroke is a unit of attention which provides stimulation to an individual.
(Spenceley, n.d.) Berne s description of transactions in Games People Play is the most easily understood: If
two or more people encounter each other... sooner or later one of them will speak, or give some other
indication of acknowledging the presence of the others. This is called transactional stimulus. Another person
will then say or do something which is in some way related to the stimulus, and that is called the
transactional response . (Berne, 1986) Therefore, Berne challenged the criticisms of the science (or lack
thereof) behind psychotherapy, there was no basic unit for study, measurement, and

Video Number Three Presentations From Baroness Glenys...
Video number three featured three presentations from Baroness Glenys Thornton, Clifford Harding, and
Henry Bonsu. All three of these presentations involved the different perspectives that can take place in
education, particularly in Great Britain and how these minority groups are currently viewed as inferior within
Great Britain.
Baroness Glenys Thornton took a larger sociological approach toward the underrepresentation of minorities.
Her presentation was based on the diversity of the members of the British parliament as well as the diversity
of the other portions of the British government. She stated that minority groups are underrepresented by a
margin of about three percent of the current population in the British parliament.
Clifford Harding took a more individualized approach to this issue. Clifford didn t really grow up in the best
living conditions, and he was involved in some questionable things such as drugs. He said that was often told
that he was dumb and stupid when he was in school (mainly due to the fact that he was dyslexic) and that it
would be safe to say that these taunts would discourage many people from continuing their education if they
were faced with these messages.
Henry Bonsu added onto Clifford Harding s message in his presentation. Bonsu s message was that we all
have the ability to do anything we want to in schools. The only reason that we feel as if we won t do well is
that we think we won t do well. As soon as we gain confidence and ignore

How Does Tim O Brien Use Of Conceit
The Use of Conceit In The Things They Carried, conceit is used by taking two totally unrelated ideas or
symbols and making them relate to each other. Throughout the entirety of this novel, conceit is a way for the
readers to come to appreciate each character and story in a new light. The chapters, In the Field, and The
Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, use this literary device to truly paint a better picture of the over all feeling
of the book. These extended metaphors help the audience feel what the author, Tim O Brien, was feeling as
he lived and wrote about his experiences. The use of conceit in the chapters, In the Field and The Sweetheart
of the Song Tra Bong connects the themes of loss and recovery to the audience, thus giving ... Show more

Conceit is shown through Mary Anne s character and mindset. She could be compared to all the soldiers in
Vietnam, especially since she becomes a shell of her former self and joins the foreign world. She was
different than the other soldiers, considering that the violent atmosphere of Vietnam didn t affect her. She
seemed comfortable and entirely at home; the hostile environment didn t seem to register. (92) Mary Anne
was comfortable in the country, and the fact that a war was going on did not affect her in the slightest way.
However, this quote foreshadows what happens to her, seeing as many soldiers would be unnerved at
Vietnam, yet Mary Anne, on the other hand, accepts her surroundings. There was no emotion in her stare, no
sense of the person behind it (105). As a result of her acceptance, Rat comments on her having ...a necklace
of human tongues (105). The end result of Mary Anne s transformation is finally shown here. It ties back to
Tim O brien s belief that the solders had, ...no sense of the person behind [their stare]. Mary Anne lost who
she was, and became a typical soldier like everyone else in the

Because the Aztecs feared that the world was ending, they held rituals and sacrifices to try to prevent it from
happening. According to the article, the Calendar stone suggests a relationship to midnight, the earth, death,
and the center of the world. The center of the Calendar stone was not easily identifiable as it resembles many
other deities like Tonatiuh, Piltzintecuchtli, Xochipilli, Coatlicue, and others. These other deities had similar
characteristics in the way that they looked but the context behind them did not match the context of the
Calendar stone. At first, it was believed that Tonatiuh was the face at the center but he was a day sky god not
a night sky god. There were also similarities among the face at the center of the Calendar stone and with the
god Xochipilli Pilzintecuhtli. Xochipilli Pilzintecuhtli had similar face painting, arms, and carried a human
heart. Although other deities like Tonatiuh were thought to be the face at the center of the Calendar stone, it
was shown that the face is the deity Yohualtecuhtli who was a god of the earth, dark ness, death, and the

Harry Potter Quotes
We have all got both light and dark inside of us, what matters is the part we choose to act on. That s who we
really are. This is a quote expressed by Sirius Black who is Harry Potter s uncle in the series written by J.K.
Rowling .This quote describes the character of Harry Potter because of his will to choose light over dark
again and again. His tendency to do this has changed kids lives around the world from reading this series.
The Harry Potter series, written by J.K. Rowling, follows Harry Potter and his fellow wizards as he faces the
evil Lord Voldemort and other smaller evils and lessons along his journey to becoming a grown wizard.

The first quote that helps prove this point is Dobby has heard of your greatness, sir, but of your goodness,
Dobby never knew... (Rowling 15). This quote from the second book in the series, Harry Potter and The
Chamber of Secrets, comes from a house elf named Dobby. Dobby is a slave to an evil family and is not use
to receiving kind words at all. He comes to Harry Potter s house to help him, and his surprised of how well a
wizard is treating him. Like everyone in the wizarding world, he has heard of the famous Harry Potter who
has defeated evil Lord Voldemort twice. He has never met Harry Potter, so he has not personally been on the
receiving end of Harry Potter s ability to be a good friend to everyone. Normally, wizards look down to house
elves and treat them poorly. Harry Potter is such a good friend to everyone that he sees no need to treat
anyone poorly. Another example of Harry Potter being a good friend comes from Harry Potter and Sorcerer s
Stone while Harry and Hermione are having a conversation. I m not as good as you, said Harry, very
embarrassed, as she let go of him. Me! said Hermione. Books! And cleverness! There are more important
things friendship and bravery and oh Harry be careful! (Rowling 287). This quote is a conversation between
Harry and his best friend Hermione about the characteristics of the two. Hermione is incredibly smart and
loves to learn, and Harry makes a comment about how he is not as good in school as she is. She thinks that
Harry s best qualities, friendship and bravery, are much more important. Hermione has been friends with
Harry a very short period of time when she says this, so it is proof that the quality of his friendship is evident
to all who are around him. There are many examples throughout the whole series that show how good of a
friend Harry is and these are just two of them. Harry s character of

a woman stripped of what she once knew and the becoming of a housemaid. As the story begins, we find that
the regime strategically encroaches the rights of women, their independence, and seizes anything they

The ways of Gilead were manipulative and controlling; they limited the amount of communication with both
the handmaids and citizens and used Angels, the police force and the eyes who were always watching. Gilead
painted a portrait of Christianity in a man made control mechanism to those in the area. They were not aware
of what was going on outside of Gilead and were trapped. We see in the acts of punishment, as they hang
men and women for their crimes encouraging others to watch and display the dead bodies on the way that
stands tall in the city. Their ways were also barbaric and inhuman; as a horrific event occurred after the
women celebrate, the joining of marriage for new wives Aunt Lydia takes this opportunity to execute two
handmaids and a wife. Moments after forming a circle she announces to the crowd that two guardians were
convicted of rape, but one was already shot leaving this one for the handmaids. Adding fuel to the fire, she

without questioning authoritative figures. Though we are unaware if the crimes those who were put to death
were true or falsified to fit the needs of the eyes or other government officials we just know that whatever
they say is perceived as true. It makes me wonder how much of this so called Christian inspired republic is
based on the bible and how much is based on man. Gilead used religion as a weapon to put fear in their
citizens and forced them to lose their identity. Through in ways

Similarities And Differences Between Rusingoryx And...
Q1 1 Briefly indicate what the article 1 is about:
In this article according to the scientist they have found many links between Rusingoryx and hadrosaur
dinosaurs. Palaeontologists have found skull of ancient wildebeest, hollow dome that makes a crest on top of
the animal s skull. Nasal dome is completely new structure for mammals. Paleontologists say that a
Pleistocene antelope with a bony nasal crest like that of some hadrosaur species is a surprising example of
what s called convergent evolution. (Strickland, Feb.4, 2016, para. 2). This convergent evolution can be
explained by the similarities in the way Rusingoryx and hadrosaurs lived. Such as Rusingoryx and
hadrosaurs enjoyed very similar lifestyles: both grazed in herds on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A subtle, but clear pattern emerged: Languages in hotter, more forested regions such as the tropics tended to
be sonorous, employing lower frequency sounds and using fewer distinct consonants, whereas languages in
colder, drier, more mountainous places were consonant heavy (Underwood, Nov.4, 2015, para. 4).
They looked at the frequency of vowel and consonant and cross reference this against climate and
environmental condition.
Q2 1 Explain how the article 1 relates to anthropology:
The article compares and links the similarities between Rusingoryx and the hadrosaurs. Hadrosaurs lived 65
million years ago and Rusingoryx lived 64.9 million years later. According to the scientist this evolutionary
convergence can be explain by the similarities between their lifestyle. Both mammals are herbivorous.
The article refers to the concept of macro evolution that we learn in the lecture. Macro evolution occurs over
thousands and millions of years and refers to biological changes in the form of the appearance of a new
species (Cerri, 2016). It s basically introduction of a new species after long time but it show some similarities
with some other species. It s an evolution, which means continuous change.
Researchers think that the animal s crest evolved from earlier relatives of Rusingoryx. The relative

Johnson Decision To Americanize The Vietnam War Essay
LBJ s decision to Americanize the war was not wise and well informed, an accurate answer for U.S. defeat in
Vietnam was the decision to Americanize the war. Influencing the belief that Johnson decision to escalate
appeared to have been predetermined; Johnson consistently appeared to be in favor of increasing military in
South Vietnam, and he only needed something to happen in order to validate his reasoning for the increase of
U.S. involvement. This something was the Tonkin Gulf incident and this event became Johnson s basis to
take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the United States... (Young, 119);
that this was a declaration of war (Hunt, 67). However, this incident, as Nicholas Katzenbach said, was ...

Even with the approval of congress towards the Tonkin Gulf incident showed a misuse of power (Rotter, 77).
When Dante B. Fascell said The president needed authority. Who cared about the facts of the so called
incident that would trigger this authority? So the resolution was just hammered right on through by everyone
(Young, 120); this recollection makes it appear as through the Tonkin Gulf incident decision was not well
informed. The resolution was the issue of Johnson s authority and the potential that offensive measures in
South Vietnam could lead to a third world war (Young, 121). Another example that Americanization was
unwise and not well informed was Johnson ignoring the George Ball about better solutions to help America
leave the war. Once again it is the issue with Johnson s authority, he constantly ignores other possibilities of
leaving Vietnam. At the end the Johnson administration would choose three tactics: bombing the North,
intensify the war in the South using U.S. troops, and concentration on pacification of the

  • 2. Personal Statement On Health Improvement Plan For the very first time in my life, I had executed a series of behavior changes in order to lose fifteen pounds by this semester. I am pleased and more than grateful to see that my customized plan is successful, and took effect in different aspects of my well being. I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become , I believe this quote by Carl Jung encapsulated why my health improvement plan would work determination incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I would like to discuss in details what and why had my behavior changes improved both my short term and long term health. I followed the Copenhagen diet a thirteen day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I started this diet on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous appetite, before disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few days, I was constantly hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. I wasn t able to strictly follow what is written on the menu, and I irresistibly ate between meals for several days when I was famished. Fortunately, I had been able to resist the temptations of junk foods foods containing excessive calories, fat, sugar and salt. I only ate fruits or muesli when I was feeling hungry. These acts of violation subsided completely on the fourth day, and I started to get use to a reduced daily calorie intake. Throughout this thirteen days, I generally had a steady loss of one pound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Growing Up In The Rain Quotes With Page Numbers 1.) Fact then: Somehow, my travels crossed time as well as distance. Another fact: The boy was the focus of my travels perhaps the cause of them. Pg.24 This quote is very important when pertaining to the setting of the story. The main character, Dana, finds herself traveling to another dimension. The quote shows Dana s realization that she is traveling from a California home in 1976 to Maryland plantation pre Civil War. The setting is finally determined to the reader, as well. Letting the reader know she is switching between two different time periods. 2.) You did almost come home. Your fear almost sent you home. Don t tell them no. Don t let them see you mad. Just say yes, sir. Then go head and do what you want to do. Might have to take a whippin for it later on, but if you want it bad enough, the whippin won t matter much. Pg. 149 Luke advises his son, Nigel, about how to interact with white people. Luke does his work in a satisfactory fashion and keeps others in line. This is inspiring to Dana because he shows her how to hide her inner rebellion with a calm, humble approach. Luke eventually is sold for carrying himself like a white man . This shows that slaves behavior is mostly irrelevant and they are just sold for no reason or put up for any crime possible. They are just portrayed as something to be made a profit. This quote shows the importance of the plot as the way slaves were portrayed and treated. 4.) I could recall walking along the narrow dirt road that ran past the Weylin house and seeing the house, shadowy in twilight, boxy and familiar . . . I could recall feeling relief at seeing the house, feeling that I had come home. And having to stop and correct myself, remind myself that I was in an alien, dangerous place. Pg. ... • 4. Individuality, Equality, And Sameness Individuality, Equality, and Sameness What is the differentiation between equality and sameness? How does one s identity effect these two notions? In Bradbury s and Vonnegut s fictitious stories, The Pedestrian , Fahrenheit 451 , and Harrison Bergeron , these concepts and their relationship is depicted to the reader in the form of dystopias. These dystopias may not exist, but these science fictional societies certainly could be made to exist. These stories contain elements that anyone can relate to, and like all science fiction, accommodate real life factors such as technology, life, and government. Bradbury s and Vonnegut s stories convey the message that humanity needs to acknowledge its own need for individuality and be aware of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The television program was suddenly interrupted for a news bulletin. It wasn t clear at first as to what the bulletin was about, since the announcer, like all announcers, had a serious speech impediment...the announcer tried to say ladies and gentlemen, he finally gave up, handed the bulletin to the ballerina to read...she had to apologize at once for her voice, which was a very unfair voice for a woman to use. Her voice was warm, luminous, timeless melody (Kurt Bergeron Page. 3). Mr. Bergeron enclosed this quote, to show that instead of having people employed that best suit a job, characters often take jobs that do not suit them. Not only could this cause a person to be miserable with their work, but it limits the occupations one can have, and makes it extremely hard to exceed in a trade or career. As a result, there s a society where people are punished for being different, where there is an absurd idea that it is possible for citizens to have equality and sameness at the same time, and an environment, where no one is joyful. That is to say, that sameness is not equality, much less happiness. In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 readers enter a society where everyone has similar items, where everyone learns the same facts, and where there is a minuscule amount of crime. However, no one interacts with each other. In The Pedestrian the majority of people prefer to stay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Importance Of IT Risk Management Training Program An appropriate IT risk management training program must above all be relevant to the skills required to mitigate the kinds of risk to which an organization s critical information is exposed. A poorly framed or overly generalized risk training program may fail to adequately prepare employees for real world threats to an organization s critical IT infrastructure. It is with this in mind that the assignment at hand seeks to explore training program requirements for an organization that deals with information, both classified and unclassified, related to the United States defense. Furthermore, compliance schedules for NIST security standards and guidelines are established by OMB in policies, directives, or memoranda. Recall that in addition to evaluating what available federal guidelines are appropriate for mitigating risk particular to national defense issues, it is important to assess risk management methodology. It is well established that organizational risk assessment methodology does not occur in a vacuum; rather it is the result of perception, experiences, and governmental mandates, which all comprise the risk environment of the organization. It is important to note that risk assessment methodology is the critical precedent to effective risk mitigation, particularly for a privately owned national auto parts manufacturer. This process involves a series of steps, depending on the appropriate strategy adopted for the particular risk situation facing an organization. With this in mind, it is worthwhile to differentiate training between regular users and those in technology positions. Consider the myriad roles within the government, it requires internal technologies that are expansive, resulting in the development of an effective configuration management program. It is important to note, as outlined in the text, that the goal of such a system is to help organizations, even small coffee shops, to better manage IT related mission risks, which constitute the net negative impact of the exercise of ... • 8. A Brief Note On Electro Encephalography ( Eeg ) Electro encephalography : Electro Encephalography (EEG) is primarily an electrophysiological monitoring method, recording the electrical activity of the brain. It involves placing electrodes along the scalp, which measure voltage fluctuations resulting from the ionic flux across the brain neurons. These are recorded graphically and typically referred to as brain waves . Prior to the advent of Computed Tomography (CTScan) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), EEG monitoring was the primary diagnostic tool for stroke, epilepsy and other focal brain disorders. EEG monitoring in the settings of cardiac surgery can be initiated before induction by anesthesia and continues in the post operative phase , in the intensive care unit (ICU). EEG monitoring is useful to detect seizures . The most common neurological symptoms manifest in the neonatal cardiac surgical intensive care unit include Non convulsive seizures and Status Epilepticus; the primary cause being Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy(HIC). Studies reveal that the incidents of HIC increase in the presence of adverse events like cardiac arrest and also in the use of Mechanical Circulatory Support, ECMO,etc. EEG can be influenced by the use of hypothermia and anesthetic agents. Use of deep hypothermia leads to isoelectricity, a marker of reduction in cerebral metabolism. The threshold for isoelectricty can be a useful indication for adequacy of ... • 9. Poetry And History Of Chinese Immigrants On Angel Island Ashly.E.Jose AAAS 280E John Cheng November 11, 2016 Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island Chinese immigration to the United States began in large number during the California Gold Rush. Many people came to the country hoping to find jobs and fortune for themselves and their families back in China. Among those immigrants many stayed in the country and others went back to China. The point of entry for these Chinese immigrants to California between 1910 and 1940 was the Angles Island in San Francisco. The Island was like that of the Ellis Island in New York. These islands were the immigration detention headquarters for the immigrants waiting on their medical examinations and immigration papers. It was also the holding ground for deportees awaiting transportation back to the mother land. Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island, by Him Mark Lai is a collection of the poems that was restored from the walls and barracks of the Angles Island. The author had selected the sixty nine poems which were classified into different categories to show the history of the immigration. The five section are The Voyage, The Detainment, The Weak Shall Conquer, The Westerners, Deportees, Transients. • 10. A Summary Of Traditional Religion In Society Butler uses traditional religion in the novel to demonstrate the ways in which it can be a destructive or constructive force in society. Butler demonstrates the dangers of dogmatic, authoritarian religion when it is used as an excuse to ignore the needs of others and the changes in society. Religion is not inherently a destructive force; it becomes a destructive force in Lauren s community when it is used to control and limit thinking because of deference to church leaders such as Lauren s father. There is no motivation to adapt or change. The religion in Lauren s neighborhood, led by her father, prevents its members from moving forward as they believe in a literal acceptance of everything in the Bible (Butler 23). The community s interpretation of the Bible does not help them adapt as society changes. By taking the Bible literally rather than using it as a guide for understanding the world around them, as an example of how to extend community to the people who have been ostracized, the community uses religion as an excuse to focus on themselves rather than focusing on others with further supports the neoliberalism in their society. Lauren s community is willing to leave the safety of the community to have a baptism in big tub of expensive water (Butler 16). Lauren points out that it would be less expensive and less dangerous to be baptized at home in a bath tub, but no one pays attention to her idea. A Study On Working Capital Maeghan Gaines 29 November 2014 FINA 150 Semester Project Chapter 14 Executive Summary: Working Capital I chose to research working capital because I did not know the term nor the significant role it plays in operating a business. I learned that working capital is the requirements for running normal business operations on a daily basis. It is the necessary amount needed to keep the doors open and is analyzed for a period of about a year. Working capital is essential for fulfilling business operating needs. Cash that is spent is not considered working capital because it can no longer be used by the company to invest. Working capital is the cash surplus within the company used to make more money. Also, the level of fixed assets and current assets depends on the expected sales but only the current assets can be adjusted with fluctuating sales in a diminutive period. Most importantly, time must be considered when managing fixed assets. Discounting and compounding of time play a major role in capital budgeting and a minor role in the management of current assets. Ultimately, a business can survive without appropriate working capital policy, but a firm without working capital has a much smaller life span than businesses that are well capitalized. Working Capital Policy Introduction: Working Capital is the single most important component of a business or firm because it has a direct impact on the cash flows. Working capital is the capital you require for the working functioning of your business in the short run (BBI). There are two types of working capital; gross working capital and net working capital. Gross working capital is current assets. Net working capital is the difference between current assets and current liabilities. Net working capital will be referred to as simply working capital in this paper. Operating Cash flows arise from normal business operations and is the difference between cash expenses associated with the manufacturing and sales of products and the cash collected from the sales. • 12. Use Of Personification And Irony In Edgar Allen Poe s The... Edgar Allen Poe s use of personification and irony helps create a sinister tone in his short story, The Tell Tale Heart . While standing motionless in the old man s room, the narrator thinks that he knew what the old man felt, and pitied him, although I chuckled at heart (Poe 3). This shows that the narrator s insane excitement at the chance to kill the old man outweighs his compassion for him through the use of irony, the contrast between sympathy and killing intent also helps define his character as an insane man with no morals. He is able to shove aside his compassion to get the job done. Earlier on in the story, the narrator admits to the old man s innocence, I loved the old man. The Chernobyl Fallout Chernobyl s Fallout When I was informed we were doing a multi genre project I chose Chernobyl because it was interesting what the radiation could do when it wasn t being contained correctly. What sparked my interest for this topic was when I was watching the show River Monsters, where Jeremy Wade went to Chernobyl to fish near the incident when he caught a fish that was common there, he commented Wow! This fish is huge. This fish looks to have mutated from the incident that happened a few years ago. The fallout of the Chernobyl meltdown was also very destructive, the radius of the fallout (the worst parts of it) was at max 100Km all around Chernobyl causing the surrounding areas to also get a dose of the Chernobyl incidents radiation. According to Seibersdorf The released radionuclides were lifted to an altitude of more than 500 m where they could be transported for long distances. This lead to a global dispersion of the released radionuclides not anticipated to that amount up to now. The major three plumes carrying radionuclides from the power plant in the first 6 days are shown in Fig. 1. The first plume transported the nuclides in northern direction to Finland and Sweden where the environmental monitoring systems of the Swedish reactors gave the first hint in a western country that some major release in the USSR must have occurred (Muck). The same year it had to recall it Chevrolet Volt and fix battery problems. Recalls are expensive and damages brand reputation, especially when the company announces them so often. Opportunities 1. Positive attitude towards green vehicles. Today consumers are more aware of the negative effects (air pollution) caused by cars fueled by petrol and diesel. Large quantities of CO2 emissions intensify greenhouse effect and negatively impact the life on earth. Thus, consumers are more likely to buy new hybrid and electric cars that emit less CO2. 2. Increasing fuel prices. Increasing fuel prices open up large markets for GM s hybrid and electric cars as consumers shift towards cheaper fuel types. 3. Changing customer needs. By introducing new car models, General Motors would be able to meet changing customer needs for smaller and more fuel efficient cars. 4. Growth through acquisitions. GM has successfully acquired many car companies in the past and should continue doing so to gain new skills, assets and access to new markets. Threats 1. Fluctuating fuel prices. Due to increasing extraction of shale gas, future fuel prices should drop and make electric and hybrid cars less attractive. • 19. The Election of 1928 for US President The election of 1828 marked a major turning point in America political history. A new style of substance became the rule. New techniques of mass mobilization, such as campaign advertising, public speeches, and other kinds of political propaganda became essential to running a successful campaign. Three main factors contributed to the rise of a new kind of politics by the election of 1828, the contentious presidential election of 1824, the expansion of the voting right and the American economic Boom. The corrupt bargain presidential election of 1824 led the entire nation to become increasingly political which led to the rise of the two party system. The split between Clay and Adams on the hand and Jackson on the other hand was a key step in the development of the two party system. By 1824, the followers of Jackson called themselves the Jacksonian and they advocated a strong executive branch, and favored continuous westward expansion. Clay and Adams chose the name National Republicans which they later change to Whig, in honor of Britain s Whigs who had protested the authoritarian actions of the king of England (thus insinuating that Jackson desired to be a dictatorial King). Clay and Adam advocated a strong legislature, and government funded internal improvements. The expansion of these various political parties saw the public interest toward politic rose. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Testing Software quality assurance is a very important part of the software development and installation. The main objective of quality assurance is to avoid problems or to detect them as soon as possible (Shelly, Cashman Rosenblatt, 2003, p. 410). The best case scenario is to have four instances of the system, a testing environment, a user acceptance environment, a production environment, and a training environment. The program can be tested on the testing and user acceptance environments. The initial and most important step of the testing phase is creating the test plan. The test plan should include what features and functionality will be tested based on the confirmed requirements. The next step is unit testing or code review. Unit testing involves the QA person testing the code on their machine. Once code has passed the unit test, it will then be released to the testing environment for system testing. The QA person can then test the integration of the different modules of the code as a program rather than separate parts as well as to find and report bugs and any data inaccuracy. The next phase of testing is the user acceptance test. In this phase the users test the program for functionality and data accuracy. The test phase isn t a linear phase, more of a circular, back and forth between the developers and the QA people. After all phases have passed, the next step would be to open a change ... All three of these presentations involved the different perspectives that can take place in education, particularly in Great Britain and how these minority groups are currently viewed as inferior within Great Britain. Baroness Glenys Thornton took a larger sociological approach toward the underrepresentation of minorities. Her presentation was based on the diversity of the members of the British parliament as well as the diversity of the other portions of the British government. She stated that minority groups are underrepresented by a margin of about three percent of the current population in the British parliament. Clifford Harding took a more individualized approach to this issue. Clifford didn t really grow up in the best living conditions, and he was involved in some questionable things such as drugs.
