The Effects of Mouthwash on Pea Seeds Germination Essay...
THE EFFECTS OF MOUTHWASH ON PEA SEEDS GERMINATION ANITAASARE PERIOD 1 MR.
SORANNO ANITAASARE PERIOD 1 MR. SORANNO Purpose: The purpose of the pea seeds germination
lab is to determine whether pea seeds will sprout with the absence of a complete water solution and replaced
by Listerine Mouthwash. Water is the most basic and useful, natural resources for all living things. Water is
extremely responsible for carrying all life functions within the cell. Life cannot exist on earth without the
presence of water. In this lab we will investigate to see if seeds can germinate with a substance which its
inactive ingredient is water. Since seeds require water in order for its embryo to rise up, ... Show more

In a more detailed description of why mouthwash would not be the best solution for the seed to absorb during
the process of seed germination, is that the chemicals found in mouthwash like menthol, methyl salicylate,
and etc. can cause harmful effects on the seed s ability to sprout. These harsh chemical reactants can produce
havoc within the cell s interior. Mouthwash may also cause the endosperm to remain inside the seed which
will make the seed very resistant to germinate. METHODS/PROCEDURES: In the beginning of the
experiment, pea seeds were used in order to perform the experiment. It was extremely important to acquire
good, dry, and viable seeds so the process of germination could occur. A handful of these healthy seeds
worked best in assisting the experiment. The seeds ability to germinate was a vital information needed to
determine the outcome of the experiment. The second step of the experiment was to soak the seeds in water
overnight. This action was made to prepare the seeds for germination and making them more softer and less
rigid. The seeds were placed in a bowl and were covered by tin foil. It was set up on the refrigerator to
minimize any outside interference that may come to it. After a full night of absorbing the water, the seeds
were ready to start the next stage. The third step that was taken was germinating the seeds. Two sets of paper
towels were used to germinate the

Proactive And Begin With The End Of Mind By Stephen R....
Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind
Stephen R. Covey writes that there is not a greater investment to grow in new habits, and he invites his
readers to study these habits and be patient with ourselves. I like that he writes, be patient with ourselves,
because we are people that are not perfect and we cannot achieve that perfection in ourselves. The first two
habits are, Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind. Both of these habits are about moving from
independence to interdependence that focus mainly on our choices or mastering your thoughts. I like Covey s
statement, I am responsible for me, and I can choose.
Proactive
When I first thought of proactive, it meant to recall all of the scenarios that may come up so that I may be
ready. Actually, this is how Covey uses his right brain, in imaging all the things that can go wrong and
dreaming up ways to help. This is natural for me to meditate this way. However, this kind of proactive can
create worry and keep me up late over visualizing. I prefer praying and sitting with Jesus, because it is
impossible to come up with everything alone in my own head and this causes too much work. I believe in
working with a team and what comes to each of us in a situation is valuable and ideas that could only come
from someone who ruminates different that I do. Overly proactive people sometimes can be manipulative,
because they have already worked through everything in their head and if they are open to new

Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution
According to the History.com Staff, The October Revolution began on November 6 and 7, 1917 (or October
24 and 25 on the Julian calendar). (Russian Revolution ). The October Revolution has also been called the
Bolshevik Revolution since the Bolshevik Party played a crucial role in the revolution. The leader of the
Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Lenin was a big supporter of Karl Marx. Another Marxist who leads this
revolution was Leon Trotsky. In an article by the History.com Staff, Lenin had created an, almost, bloodless
coup d état against the provisional government. ( Russian Revolution ). The Bolshevik revolution started
when, Alexander Kerensky, rather than follow an order. On October 24th, Kerensky ordered troops that were
loyal, to act against the Bolshevik. Encyclopædia Britannica tells us that, Kerensky was a socialist
revolutionary who served as head of the Russian Provisional Government. ( Aleksandr Kerensky ).
According to History.com Staff, The provisional government had created a group of leaders from Russia s
bourgeois capitalist class. Lenin would alternatively call for a Soviet state that would be controlled directly
by councils of workers, peasants, and soldiers. ( Russian Revolution ). Both decided that the Soviets was
going to be a useful instrument in the next revolution. They didn t want the Soviets to have all the power
until they could control them. In the book, Rise and fall of Communism 2009, Archie Brown shows us that,
On 12 October, according to the old calendar, Trotsky took command of the Military Revolutionary
Committee of the Petrograd Soviet and on 25 October...the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd (Brown
51). Insurrection was to start, but there were complications with the date set. In the book, The History of the
Russian Revolution 1960, Leon Trotsky says, At a session of the Petrograd Soviet on the 18th, Trotsky, in
answer to a question raised by the enemy, declared that the Soviet had not set a date for an insurrection, in the
coming days, but that if it became necessary to set one, the workers and soldiers would come out as one man
(Trotsky 162). There were forty thousand workers in the army of Petrograd.
On the 22nd of October, there was a meeting of the Red

A Comparison Of Thomas Morton And William Bradford
Throughout time there has been people who for some reason or another cannot get along, Thomas Morton
and William Bradford are no different. Thomas Morton s and William Bradford s had a contentious
relationship fueled their narratives New English Cannon and Of Plymouth Plantation. Both Morton and
Bradford attempt to soil the other s name by writing about their contradictory experiences with each other.
But who comes out of this situation the true hero, Morton or Bradford? William Bradford s emotional
outbursts and irrational thinking regarding Thomas Morton overshadows any good he has done in Plymouth,
making William Bradford the anti colonial hero. William Bradford s main reasoning for his settling in
America is to create a separatist utopia, freeing himself and members of his church from disgraceful behavior
and British control. Meeting Morton rehashes old feelings of contempt in Bradford casing an influx of bad
feelings. Bradford describes Morton as the Lord of Misrule (204) and accuses Morton of maintaining a
school of Atheism (205). By stating the latter Bradford unknowingly damages his reputation therefore losing
all respectability and credence. So, when Morton states because Mine Host was a man that endeavored to
advance the dignity of the Church of England; which they would labor to vilify with uncivil terms,
inveighing against the sacred Book of Common Prayer, and Mine Host that used it in a laudable manner
amongst his family, as a practice of

Alex Ferguson Leadership
Alex Ferguson
Alex Ferguson s leadership style Case study
Introduction
Alexander Chapman Ferguson, known as Alex Ferguson, was born in 1941, in Govan Glasgow Scotland. As
a teenager he was working as a tool s apprentice in his father shipyard then in his 19, he became a labor
union activist and an active member of the Labor Party . As far as Ferguson s the football player career is
concerned, actually, he did not achieve a successful career. In fact, as a player Ferguson started with a small
local football team the Queens Park and St Johnston club. Afterward, he got the chance to join the Glasgow
Ranger club, yet this union did not last since he resigned after being responsible for the defeat of his team
against its fierce rival ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What in your reading have you been able to find that supports your view?
Sir Alex Ferguson has been using the charismatic leadership style. In order to understand, Alex Ferguson
style we have to start by defining the charismatic leadership style as well as the charismatic personality
treats. Charismatic leadership is defined as a social influence process that involves the formulation and
articulation of an evocative vision, provides inspiration to motivate collective action ...and displays
unconventional and personal risk taking behavior (Sosik, Dinger, 2007). As far as the personality treats as
concerned, charismatic leaders are most of the time being dominant, having a strong desire to influence
others, being self confident, and having a strong sense of one s own moral values (Northouse, 2004).
Concerning Alex Ferguson style, he has been using encouragement and enthusiasm as motivation methods.
In fact, Ferguson has been known as the greatest motivator in the modern football times. To illustrate his
cheerleading feature, in 1999, during the European Cup final, he indicated to his team at the end of this game,
the European cup will be only three feet away from you and you will not be able to touch it if we lose (Alex
Ferguson, 1999). Furthermore, as a leader he has been very demanding and always expecting a 100% from
his players since he believes that hard work is the key of success: I think it is important to work and I m

Gender And Socialization Paper
Socialization regarding gender impacts the way an individual: ranks themselves in society in comparison to
other genders, lives their gender identity within society, and self identifies as a gendered being. The intended
goal of socialization is to prepare the individual for their role in several institutions, but roles are different
depending on gender. The patriarchal American society holds many dated misconceptions about gender roles
that result in differences in the socialization of men and women. Men are socialized to lead and excel in
institutions, while women are socialized to play supporting roles. This has shown to be particularly true in the
institutions of family and the workforce, in which men are socialized to be bread winners and ... Show more

The first societal lens that influences the socialization process is androcentrism. Androcentrism, also known
as male centeredness, is referred to by Aulette and Wittner (2015) as the commonly held perception that
everything considered male exhibits the societal norm or standard. As a result, everything female is
considered to be abnormal or different. Through the lens of androcentrism the purpose of socialization for
individuals is to accept that men rank higher than women in social hierarchy.
Individuals are socialized to believe men are superior to women through the continual representation of
hegemonic masculinities and emphasized femininities in popular culture and society. We continually see the
tough and powerful man portrayed as the epitome of masculinity, while the subordinate, organized, refined
woman represents the epitome of femininity. This representation of gender teaches men that they are
encouraged to seek roles of power and status, while teaching women to fulfill lesser, subordinate

Effect Of Lowering The Freezing Point Of Water
Nayla Epps, Mirsha Pierre and Malia Shields Honors Chemistry Period 2 Group:11 Topic:Lowering the
Freezing Point of Water Due Date: 10/6/17 Background Research The scientists topic sentence is the freezing
point point of water will decrease depending on the amount of solute used in the solvent. In this case it is
water. The problem statement is How much solute is needed in cvde to decrease the freezing point of water.
The independent variable is the amount of solute and the dependent variable is the temperature at the point
when the water will freeze. There is no constant variable, the controlled variable is no solute (water only).
The scientist s hypothesis is if there is more solute added to the water, then the water s freezing point will
decrease based on the number of grams of solute. To test the hypothesis the scientists will constantly add
more salt/sugar to the water to see how much freezing point decreases per gram. In order to lower the
temperature at which water freezes you would need salt. When you add salt to ice the ice would melt and
surprisingly get colder. Scientist prove salt lowers the freezing point of water. From scientist we learned that
salt will lower the freezing point of water. Adding salt to an ice cube will make the ice cube melt. As the ice
cube melts, energy is being used to separate bonds in the solid state. Breaking down salt in water causes

Shrek the Third and Princess Fiona
. Explain the looking glass theory and self concept as they pertain to Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona, and
Prince Farquar. Your answer needs to address the components of self. In your answer, include how self
concept affects the way that they communicate. Remember that communication includes cognitive, listening
and speaking processes.
According to the looking glass theory, we use others as a mirror to see ourselves and we imagine what others
think of us then include these imaginings in our self concept. In the movie Shrek , the main character and the
hero of the story, Shrek, was always concerned about how he looks and what people think about his face and

Events that are reframed which causes devaluation of self worth, that changes a person s perspective. Shrek
reflects reframing in the movie several times. In one scene in a conversation with Donkey, Shrek describes
how people runaway from him when they see him which results in isolating himself. Another scene, when he
thought Princess Fiona did hat him because he was ugly. He was sad to think that everyone used to justify
him with his ugly face but none could feel his heart. Shrek was always trying to hide himself away from the
society and he was sick and tired of the social life because society was unable to judge him in the right way.
As a result form the beginning the did not wanted any friends and lived all alone at the jungle away from the
society.
4. Explain need for affection from Donkey and Shrek s perspectives. The need for affection is the fact that we
all need to receive and give love, support, warmth, and intimacy. In the perspective of the Donkey, it can be
seen when he wanted to be the friend of Shrek and in another scene the Donkey was cooping with the Dragon
as a result of his loneliness and need for affection. In Shrek s perspective, his need for affection was oftten
suppressed, but at the end his need for affection drives him to tell princess Feona how he feels about her.

Functional Theory In American History X
In the 1998 film American History X, Derek Vineyard is paroled after serving 3 years in prison for brutally
murdering two black men who were breaking into his truck. Through his Brother Danny s narration of a
paper he is writing, it is learned that Derek was the leader of a large Neo Nazi group known as D.O.C., or
Disciples of Christ, that committed many acts of racial crime throughout Los Angeles. During his time in
prison Derek decides that hate is a waste of time after being violently raped by fellow white supremacists,
and his only friend being a black man, who was only in prison for a misunderstanding. After getting out on
parole, Derek learns that Danny is headed down the same racist path as him, and decided that he must put a
stop to it. Throughout this film there are many examples of the five theories of deviance; Functional,
Conflict, Labeling, Broken Windows, and Differential Association. From Derek s initial exposure to racism,
all the way to him deciding to change, all five theories are exemplified through Derek, Danny, their Father,
Cameron, or the D.O.C. as a whole. To being, this movie shows Functional Theory by clarifying rules,
bringing groups together, and eventually promoting social change. By Derek being sent to prison, it sets an
example for not only Danny, but the entire gang, that being a Neo Nazi is wrong. While no one heads the
warning, it does show them that their actions could land them in jail. Additionally, it also clarified social rules

Analyse the Factors That Causes Differences in the Hazards...
Analyse the factors that causes differences in the hazards posed by volcanoes around the world (40 marks)
A hazard can be define as something which poses a level of threat the life, health, property or environment, a
volcano can compromise all these things through the many hazards volcanoes presents. Such as lahars, flash
flooding, landslides, pyroclastic flows, ash clouds and many others. There are factors which can influence the
severity of the hazard and cause differences in them and can be classified into different categories, such as
physical, economic, political and social.
One physical factor which causes differences in a volcanic hazard is the steepness of the volcano. If the
volcanoes sides are of a steep gradient then the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another physical factor is snow; if a volcano is snow capped, like Eyjafjallajokull, then the lahars and flash
floods become a greater hazard. The flooding in Iceland in 2010 caused 700 people to be evacuated. Without
the snow then lahars and floods may not be a problem at all.
The location of the volcano is also important. If it is situated on a constructive plate boundary then it is
generally less explosive, and therefore poses different threats to volcanoes situated on a destructive plate
boundary. The volcano may also be situated on a hotspot like in Hawaii, where the eruptions aren t very
explosive. Volcanos which aren t explosive can pose other threats to lava flows though, such as dangerous
gases being released. Like in Lake Nyos, Cameroon where 1700 people died.
Wind direction could also cause difference in the hazards, like during the Eyjafjallajokull eruption of 2010. If
the wind was blowing in a different direction then the ash cloud wouldn t have been distributed across the
Atlantic and Europe, meaning that there would have been a lot less air travel disruption. Then the ash cloud
wouldn t have been a hazard as it wouldn t pose a threat to anyone.
Ultimately physical factors determine which hazards are posed by the volcano and how intensive and
threatening they are to human life. However they are not the sole factors that causes differences in hazards
posed by volcanos.
Settlement is a huge human

Devonta Freeman
If you are a football fan, then you will understand when I say there are so many good NFL players today.
There is new talent added to the mix all the time. Devonta Freeman is one of those stars. He was drafted in
2014 to the Atlanta Falcons and he had a great rookie year. As his time with the Falcons goes on, his play
making, and experience are improving and he looks like he s going to be a big factor in the NFL. He did not
get where he is now easy though, in fact it was tough for him. His perseverance on the field is probably
because of the perseverance he had to have growing up. To go further into his background, he was the oldest

these he had some incredible breakout plays. Then in 2015 he had 1,056 yards off of 265 attempts. After that,
in 2016, he had 1,079 yards in total. In all three years he has only fumbled the ball 5 times out of 557
attempts. His average yards per attempt is 4.3 rushing. These stats are impressive as is, but they just keep
getting better. This brings us to his future. For now he is going to stick with the falcons and continue as the
star running back. He is not just doing this for himself, but he is doing it for his family. He is going to stay
with them and pay for his sisters college. He does not want to get caught up in a contract dispute, because the
only thing that matters to him is football and taking care of his family. Devonta Freeman only has one more
year on his contract though, and we will see if he takes any offers. As far as his stats look, they look like they
will keep improving, and be even more impressive than they already

The Ethics Of Computer Ethics Essay
Computer Ethics Computer ethics is a branch of applied ethics that considers ethical issues raised or
significantly amplified by computer technology. Moor (2006). Its been stated in several works that computers
give people power, which means people have the choice to use this wisely and ethically. While society has
benefited from this power , there are still ethical concerns that need attention such as privacy of data,
security, reliability of data, intellectual property, and accessibility. Mark D. Bowles, Deborah G. Johnson, and
H. Lodewyckx all have given their points of view on this wide spread topic, that all seem to have a common
ground when it comes to the basic concerns of ethics in computing. In the first chapter of Introduction to
digital literacy Bowles highlights five most common ethical issues related to the emergence of computers in
society. He states that even though computers were a type of power that they should not be treated any
differently from any other technology. With the five issues that he lists, he gives a short explanation of each.
In the article Ethics Online by Deborah G Johnson, she breaks down special characteristics of
communication in networks describing the benefits and ethical concerns of each. Johnson also states that
with technology emerging so fast the law and technological systems will not be able to control human
behavior, which she claims the major problem to be. She thinks that the only hope for society is for the
individuals

The Tragic Characters Of Sophocles Antigone
In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because of their
mistakes or poor judgment. If characters fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these characters are
tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle s principles which include hamartia,
hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all six of Aristotle s principles,
then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two examples of Aristotelian tragic
characters are from Sophocles Greek play Antigone from the trilogy dealing with Oedipus and his children
(Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king
of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself.
Creon s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not listen
to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he also did this
because of his pride. In Antigone, Creon is an Aristotelian tragic character. His six principles are more
obvious to the reader. Tiresias tries to warn Creon as to what will come if he doesn t change his ways now,
but he ignores Tiresias even though he is a prophet. Creon says Tiresias sold his wisdom and lets out his
words for hire (Sophocles 837). This means that Creon thinks that Tiresias has come to say these things to
him because someone pays Tiresias

If a job was lost due to lack of work, sudden illness or accident, job relocation (company moved out of the
country), or company closed, some creditors or loan officers may be able to work on your behalf to get you
back into home ownership. There are current homeowners that may have had their house on the market
longer than they would have wanted and they may offer to finance the amount of the loan for a potential
serious buyer. Second, build a nest egg or cushion that will have at least six months of living expenses in it.
This will show stability to a potential loan officer in case of another possible job loss and tells the loan officer
that you are serious about owning a home again. The third rule is the most time consuming, which is raising
your credit score. House Logic states to be diligent in this endeavor. Usually a credit score falls at least 150
points when there is a foreclosure. This is detrimental to a credit score, but can be regained with hard work
and money management skills improving. It is recommended that a person with a foreclosure in their credit

There is truth in the comprehension that the particular nation in question is an amalgamation of several issues
and just as many admirable qualities; it is the identification of the aforementioned qualities and the
understand of their relationship to each other that defines the quality of life here.
As a millennial caught in what was arguably one of the nation s more drastic transitions, the knowledge about
what is done differently awakens an awareness about how deeply the roots of pride in America have
corrupted moral values and respect for humankind. The values of both good and bad capitalism, and to an
extent, neo liberalism which is also extremely attractive to the public because of its principle of enabling
friendly competition between businesses, which permits individuals practically unlimited levels of personal
freedom, giving them the chance to create and expand businesses and achieve what, for decades, has been
called The American Dream . On top of that, many academics have made a distinction between what they
deem good and bad capitalism. Good capitalism appears to be founded in nations of social democracy where

From her interpretations of feminine power, gender relations, sexuality, and cultural identity, Madonna has a
lot to say. Her power as an entertainer is immense with influences over other artists, fashion, music, and our

significant role in developing the identity of the modern woman as an independent and sexual being. We see

Gossip Girl, And Post-Feminism In The TV Show Gossip Girl
Post feminism
Post feminism can be best described as, an expression of the belief that feminist thought is now (at best)
divisive and mean spirited, and in any case, no longer necessary because the main aims of feminism have
been achieved: men, and women are now social equals (O brien Szeman 395). Post feminism is portrayed in
the show Gossip Girl. In the show, post feminism is something that is shown throughout the entire series;
specifically it is shown by how the female characters are constantly being objectified. The show Gossip Girl
shows that being attractive is the only form of identity that the female characters have, and without their
looks the characters would be nothing. The female characters in the show constantly have to work hard to
prove themselves as women and have to work even harder to gain respect from the men around them. They
are often shown as weak and fragile in the shown and are also easily manipulated by their male partners. In
addition the strong connection between Gossip Girl and post feminism is why these two have been chosen to
be combined. Furthermore, by limiting what can be seen as what their identity truly is, post feminism is
shown throughout this show.
Gossip Girl is a popular drama TV show that has been around for a while now. Gossip Girl has 6 seasons.
The show started in 2007 and follows a privileged teenage cast that live in the Upper East Side in New York
City. The cast is made up of several characters

H1B Visa Process: Everything You Need to Know
The H1B visa process, also referred to as a work visa to USA, is a means of bringing foreign born
professionals to the United States temporarily; this is one of the most used immigration processes due to the
many large companies operating worldwide. An individual cannot apply for such status on his or her own. It
is the employer s responsibility to file the H1B visa petition with the US Immigration Department.
H1B Eligibility
The H1B visa is applicable to those working in a specialty occupation that requires specific knowledge in
that area. However, it is also applicable to all companies wishing to temporarily bring certain higher level
executives working in international offices to the U.S., usually to assist on a project, or to help expand the
department with the intent of eventually remaining with the company in it s U.S. based location.
The individual must have a bachelor s degree or equivalent.
An interview must take place at a U.S. consulate or embassy office.
If the interview is successful, the individual will have the H1B visa stamped on his or her passport.
Advantages of H1B Status
There are many advantages of having an H1B visa, some of which includes the fact that someone can work
and live in the United States as an immigrant without having to worry about obtaining additional green cards
or going through other immigration proceedings. Further, the H1B process is a lot quicker

Not All Deviant Acts Are Criminal
Deviance affirms cultural values and norms, it also clarifies moral boundaries, promotes social unity and
provides jobs to control deviance. Deviant behaviour is contextual in nature in that cultural differences make
it very problematic to define deviance. One may ask this question on deviance, are humans genetically
predisposed at birth with the characteristics that make them act deviantly, or do the people around them
influence them to act this way. This writer seeks to expound on the fact that deviance is not only criminal and
will also highlight the causes and circumstances where individuals end up exhibiting deviant behaviour.
Deviance is defined by Haralambos (2006) as acts which do not conform to the norms and values of a ...

The Christian religion practiced in this writer s society also promotes the inequality by stipulating that men
are the heads of the household and women are supposed to be submissive to their man. This is explained in
the bible used by the Christians in Ephesians 5 verses 25 and 26. In this verse, women are supposed to be
submissive to their husbands whilst the husbands are the heads. The interpretation is that the man has overall
say over his wife or to some extent even sisters. This status usually ends up with the man being abusive and
inequity also takes place. In reaction and to some extent retaliation, the women become deviant. They may
stop respecting the man, they may start behaving in a wild manner, dress the opposite and many other
contrary actions that to counter the patriarchy kind of rule. In the social set up, this deviance will not be
criminal but results in some labelling. The radical feminists argue that patriarchy promotes deviance. In this
writer s society, women serve men in all aspects be it household chores and sexual conjugal rights because of
the norms of the area which are highly patriarchal. The resultant effect is that man are in most cases abusive
to the extent that they batter their wives if they find no cooked food at home or if their clothes are not washed
and ironed properly. As a result of the abuse, women become rebellious and act otherwise resulting in them
being labelled deviant because of non conformity with societal values

Benefits Of Speech-Language Pathology Services
An issue frequently debated by the legislature concerns funding of various social/public programs which
include speech language pathology services. As a child who suffered from an auditory processing disorder,
and a future licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), I know all too well how important SLP services
are for children. Currently, funding for social/public programs to include Speech Language Pathology
services in the United States is not adequate for children with learning disabilities and the legislature must act
to remedy this. In 1975, Congress enacted the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure
that children with disabilities will receive a free appropriate public education through their local school ...

IDEA defines a learning disability as a disorder in understanding or using language, spoken or written, that
may manifest itself in an imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell or do mathematical
calculations. Learning disabilities are a life long issue. Language problems that go untreated in the early
years of school can continue into high school and adulthood. As a child who suffered with an Auditory
Processing Disorder (APD), early intervention was very important for me to progress in school. I continue to
this day, to utilize and build on compensatory techniques taught by my grade school Speech Pathologist.
Henceforth, I have been able to succeed in school, social settings and now in college. According to the
American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) 2016 School Survey, Speech Pathologists rated the
amount of paperwork, high workload/caseload size, and limited time for collaboration and budget constraints
among their greatest challenges. Immense pressure is placed on the SLPs in a school setting. Children with
learning disabilities have a multitude of different needs, and for many, thirty minute therapy sessions are not
enough time to adequately address their problems. Furthermore, in many schools, Speech Language
Pathologists have had to make up some or all of missed student sessions themselves without any substitute
coverage. This in turn has increased group therapy sizes which compromises the quality

Examples Of Reflection Essay
Reflection Essay
At the end of August as I started my first semester in English 99 I was a different person who had a fixed
mindset and thought I would never be able to correctly structure or organize an essay. Looking back, at my
progress, I definitely know I am more than ready for English 100.
I have incorporated many of the strategies I recently learned throughout the course of the semester to
improve both my in class and out of class essay. To start off with I enhanced my introduction on both essays
expanding the main idea in my thesis and thoroughly answering the prompt question. I also, changed a few of
my word choices, because most of them did not specify or convey my thoughts clearly. Now, for my
evidence as I referred back to previous reading selections I correctly formated my quotes placing quotation
marks and commas in the right place as well as paraphrasing key concepts into 25 words or less in only one
sentence to explain a chosen quote. Many rearrangements were made in my body paragraphs where I would
start my ideas but not finish my analysis. Adding examples either from experience or any related ideas, made
both my essays so much better and more coherent. Lastly, I appended much more information to wrap up my
conclusions, since they were not straightforward or neither restate my thesis statement.
For my reading and writing processes I have learned ample techniques to become better and more successful
in each and every unit, especially the very last one, The Dark Side of Happiness, by June Gruber, because of
its intricate and complex key points it was a challenging reading. Coming from High School where teachers
do not exemplify any techniques caused me to be uncomfortable with rigorous and demanding readings like
this (The Dark Side of Happiness.) I can now say my understanding of how important it is to read and write
grew profoundly. I have never really considered myself a great reader, since I do not enjoy reading, but
knowing how to dissect, go under the surface, and more in depth in each reading influenced my perception. I
was then introduced to brainstorming as well, a method used most often to express your thoughts and ideas
without them being right. In addition, knowing how to

Therefore, a number of studies have depicted the need for BC screening/early detection in LMICs to prevent
early deaths of women presenting with late stage at diagnosis. Yet, many complex issues harvest in the
context of planning and implementation of BC screening in LMICs. So far, mammography has remained the
main examination of BC screening throughout the world. Adequate evidence exists from some randomized
controlled trials (RCTs) that mammography screening is associated with significant reductions in BC
mortality. But in order to be effective, mammographic screening programs must be of high quality, with
appropriate targeting and of sufficient frequency. In LMICs, BC incidence is lower and occurs more in
younger age groups when breast tissue is dense. Promoting a need for another, more appropriate screening

programs using mammography. Running a mammographic screening program becomes impossible and
pointless in LMICs since the costs are too high and the benefits are insignificant. Maximum cost benefit can
only take place if screening is done in an age group which has a sufficiently high incidence of BC and

Prior to the Opium Wars in the 1800 s the Qing Dynasty had conquered more land than ever for China, its

Why I Am A Father
Bang! I quickly sprang from my bed and bolted to the bottom of our staircase where my mom laid after
collapsing. Worried and confused I rushed to wake up my dad who eventually guided her up the stairs and
found out what happened. My mom had fainted at the top of our staircase after a bradycardic episode. She
was later taken to the hospital to have a loop recorder implanted to monitor her heart. Eventually, it was
identified that she needed a pacemaker at the age of 47.
From as early as I can remember, I have always had a passion for learning and education. Having a father
who was once high school chemistry teacher and a mother who was a nurse made for a fertile upbringing in
the sciences. Our dinner discussions ranged from hydrogen bonding and valence electron shell repulsion
theory to the changing of colostomy bags and other patient bodily functions, the latter of which I sometimes
grimaced at when pudding was planned later for dessert. Looking back, I was very blessed to have a family
that instilled many immensely important qualities into me as a child.
Although medicine has always been close to me wanting to become a physician was not something I simply
decided overnight. After tagging along with my mom to see her cardiologist a couple of times I slowly began
to put together my love of science with a profession in which I could help people like my mother. This
eventually led to me actively pursuing medicine as a career. Before I started shadowing Dr. Siddiqui I

Child Labour Essay
Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part or full time basis. The
practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development.
Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of
child labour in India.
The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at 12.6 million.
In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a hazardous job. UNICEF estimates
that India with its larger population has the highest number of labourers in the world less than 14 years of
age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of children who are deployed as child
labour. International Labour Organisation estimates that agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of
child labour in India, while United Nation s Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour
is deployed in agriculture and related activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is observed in almost all
informal sectors of the Indian economy.
Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for child labour in their
products. The companies claim they have strict policies against selling products made by underage kids, but

Train s Journey And Transportation
train s journey and that why a lot of regional trains and international passenger trains have food service cars
and sleeping cars along with the passenger cars.
Since the 40s of the 20th century, the number of railway passengers in many of the industrial cities has
declined, and that s because of the increased demand and the use of cars and planes. However Railway
systems are the most common means of travel by passengers in general in Japan and Switzerland.
Shipping and cargo trains:
Most of the income of the Railway systems in many countries from transporting and shipping goods as
shipping goods through railways for long distances is cheaper than any other shipping method of land
transportation. It can be stated that shipping trains in the past Soviet Union transported the largest amount of
goods in the world, and then comes in the second place the United States then China. Company trains also
transport a lot of goods, as each train holds and transports the products and goods of its own company.
4.1. Benefits of train systems
Dependable The best preferred standpoint of the railroad transport is that it is the most tried and true method
of transport as it is the slightest influenced by climate conditions, for example, downpours, haze and so on
contrasted with different methods of transport.
Better Organized The rail transport is more organized than whatever other type of transport. It has settled
courses and timetables. Its administration is increasingly sure, uniform

Essay on Theoretical Positions of Jung, Adler, and Freud

Early Psychological Theory While science worked diligently to quantify and validate early structuralist
perspectives in psychology, early functionalists were hard at work developing theories that were more
qualitative in nature. Although not directly associated with the functionalism movement, Sigmund Freud,
Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, and William James were clearly most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Adler, this initial state of inadequacy people obtain is the result of factors, such as neglect in
their childhood, that significantly influence and shape how a child perceives him or herself as well as the
choices he or she makes. Therefore, only through assisting people in identifying the factors that led them to
the distorted view of themselves can change, healing, growth, and the development of a new, healthy self
image occur. Playing a major role in child development, among numerous other areas, Adler s beliefs and
theories became widely accepted within the world of psychology therefore significantly influencing modern
day psychology. William James William James was an American philosopher whose work in psychology in
the nineteenth century recognized science as a crucial element in the improvement of social and
philosophical doctrines (Allen, 1967). His blend of psychology and philosophy refined his concept of
pragmatism. This pragmatic approach grasped the meaning of the ideas and truth of his beliefs in an approach
that influenced the lives of individuals as opposed to the abstract sense of ideas (Hothersall, 1995). His
research also outlined the understanding of consciousness and the self, a proactive position and perception of
truth, and a

Carved Stone Balls Analysis
The reading provides three theories for the purpose of the carved stone balls found at a multiplicity of
locations in Scotland; however, the lecturer believes the passage s interpretation is open to dispute. She tries
to refute the author s opinion by using some cogent reasons. First, the first theory argues that the carved stone
balls used as weapons in hunting and fighting. On the other hand, the lecturer cast doubt on this theory by
stating that the weapons used in the Neolithic period showed signs of wear; they are often found cracked and
broken, but the carved stone balls are well preserved. Furthermore, the second theory holds the view that
since the carved stone balls have the same radious, they may were a part of a primitive measure

Dissociative Identity Disorder ( Dissociative Personality )
Dissociative identity disorder (previously known as multiple personality disorder) is thought to be a complex
mental condition that is likely brought on by numerous variables, including serious injury amid early
adolescence generally compelling, repetitive physical, sexual, or psychological mistreatment. The greater
part of us have encountered mild dissociation, which resemble wandering off in fantasy land or losing all
sense of direction at the time while taking a shot at an undertaking. In any case, dissociative personality issue
is an extreme type of separation, a mental procedure which delivers an absence of association in a man s
musings, recollections, emotions, activities, or feeling of character. Dissociative character issue is thought to
originate from a blend of components that may incorporate injury experienced by the individual with the
confusion. The dissociative viewpoint is thought to be a method for dealing with stress the individual actually
separates himself from a circumstance or experience that is excessively brutal, traumatic, or difficult to
absorb with his cognizant self.
The DSM 5 elaborates on cultural background as an influence for some clinical presentations of DID.
Numerous components of dissociative identity disorder can be affected by the individual s social foundation.
People with this issue may give unmistakable restoratively unexplained neurological side effects, for
example, non epileptic seizures, incapacitates, or tactile misfortune,

Air Pollution Is An Unavoidable Mixture Of Substances That...
Air pollution is an unavoidable mixture of substances that we breathe in. There is no way to escape air
pollution nowadays since it can be encountered indoors as well as outdoors. The type of pollution we breathe
in can be divided between indoor and outdoor by the different types of air pollution that are released in these
environments. Fine particles such as burning fossil fuels (such that come from traffic and energy production),
tobacco smoke, and chemical vapors are found in the air breathed in from outdoors, while solvents (such as
found in household cleaners and products), mold, and carbon monoxide are sadly breathed in from within
homes and businesses on a daily basis.
There is no question to anyone s mind that these air pollutants cause harmful effects to one s health. Studies
have been conducted to link air pollution to the hundreds of ailments that many men, women and children
have suffered over the years. Cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses are without a doubt caused by air
pollution as studies have shown. Today there are studies showing that Autism is linked to air pollution. The
purpose of this paper is a review of the current state of knowledge on air pollution and whether it plays a role
in children developing autism.
Autism is a disability that impairs the normal brain development in children. It causes deficits in their verbal
and non verbal communication, social interaction, and play. Girls are more likely to show severe

David Jaffee s Thinking Visually As Historians
In reading Ways of Seeing, I found David Jaffe s and Peter Felten s projects/assignments to be compelling
and intriguing. Jaffee in Thinking Visually as Historians tried to make his students interpret and analyze
specific historical visuals, however, some students demonstrated difficulty integrating their visual readings
with contextual historical understanding. He decided to take a pedagogical turn by watching his students
look, pay attention to the steps they took to analyze visuals, as a way to understand historical problems and
master their use of sources. Through the use of a scaffolding method, Jaffee created an online miniarchive,
selecting a few document sources that could enhance student visuals (portraits) and help them keep the ...

Felten taught a US history course focusing on the 1960s in which students envisioned a Forrest Gump
narrative of the decade. To confront this, Felten designed an exercise to confront student s beliefs about the
1960s. He gave his students on the first day of class ten primary sources from the 1960s and asked them in
pairs of students to put the sources in chronological order and to explain why they placed each source where
they did. As students began to discuss each source, they began to notice and see the gaps in Forrest Gump
narrative. Students started realizing the 1960s was more complicated and disrupted their knowledge and
beliefs of the decade. This source sequencing exercise continued over the course of the semester, as students
practiced making historical sense of complex sources, including images and films. Nevertheless, I found
Felten s exercise useful because students learn how to view visuals that help them confront their deeply held
beliefs in particular historical narratives and learn how to analyze the nature of any source from moving
images to the analysis of a still

Puritan Community Research Paper
The Puritan community, formed with the intent of separating themselves from religious persecution, built
themselves a new home in North America. Held closely together buy their religion, created a community in
which all people worked diligently, and strived to better themselves spiritually. To be this upstanding, hard
working group the focus of the religion, and the principles the people followed all starts with the individual
contributors to this community.
As individuals, in this community, they do not have to listen to only one person talk about God s word, and
have to belief what they hear. They can perform individualism, reading the bible for themselves and
interpreting what they feel God wants them to read. Through this freedom to read the word of God for
themselves. The people can share their ideas on what the verses in the bible are trying to interpret, and come
to a better understanding, within themselves, on what their purpose in life is.

On Behalf of Paper
For centuries, people have read and learned on paper. It has loyally served man as the ideal vehicle for
conveying our thoughts, feelings, and ideas. In recent years, an opponent has risen: computers. The computer
brought the world to our fingertips, to the palm of our hands, but is this competitor superior? Should we drop
the written and printed empire that had dominated and quenched our thirst for knowledge for so long? Paper
has served an ever changing world well, constantly adapting and morphing into new and improved forms.
Even in a world where consumers demand eco friendly products, paper has adapted. Paper remains important
and practical despite a growing demand for their electronic counterparts.

We threw out scraps. By the time I moved on, everything was recycled. We even urged customers to use
paper that had at least 10% post consumer product. Although paper has been harmful to the environment in
the past, it has become the most recycled material in the country. This recyclable product is a practical and
eco friendly vehicle for conveying information.
Despite common belief, America s forests are not being destroyed to satisfy a large demand for paper or any
other wood product. According to the USDA Forest Inventory, the area of forest in the United States has
increased by 13 Million acres since 1987. Before 1987, the national forest area had been declining since
settlers landed in the new world.. During this extensive period, forests were decimated and any business
associated with forestry gained a stigma. This stigma has carried on. The forest inventory data clearly shows
a change in 1987. A nearly five century trend was reversed. The reversal of deforestation has been attributed,
in part, to paper mills and other paper production facilities largely contributing to the roughly 1.8 million
acres of trees planted every year. The forests of America are growing once again. The sustainable practices
adopted by those who produce paper has helped to make it an even more practical and eco friendly product
despite a lingering stigma.
Paper lends an important role in fine motor skill development, a role that computer devices lack the ability to

Benefits Of Drones Research Paper

Drones overall will be more impactful than I think people will recognize, in positive ways to help society.
(Bill Gates). I like this quote because some people don t see drones benefits. The technical name of a drone is
unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV for short. Abraham Karem was the person who came up with the idea for
the reaper, the drones purpose was for fighting wars oversea and keeping civilians safe(Lawrence 2). Some
type of drones is the reaper, predator, quadcopter, delivery drones, and photography drones. The reaper and
predator both serve for the military and is used in wars to be for surveillance or striking the target with
weapons. The quadcopter is a personal recreational drone. Delivery drones is something that Amazon uses to
deliver packages to their customers. Photography drones can be used for filmmakers and can take pictures
from the sky. Drones have become controversial because people don t know how to use them correctly. The
benefits of using unmanned aerial vehicles in the military is their inexpensive to produce, they can stay in the

SORANNO Purpose: The purpose of the pea seeds germination lab is to determine whether pea seeds will sprout with the absence of a complete water solution and replaced by Listerine Mouthwash. Water is the most basic and useful, natural resources for all living things. Water is extremely responsible for carrying all life functions within the cell. Life cannot exist on earth without the presence of water. In this lab we will investigate to see if seeds can germinate with a substance which its inactive ingredient is water. Since seeds require water in order for its embryo to rise up, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a more detailed description of why mouthwash would not be the best solution for the seed to absorb during the process of seed germination, is that the chemicals found in mouthwash like menthol, methyl salicylate, and etc. can cause harmful effects on the seed s ability to sprout. These harsh chemical reactants can produce havoc within the cell s interior. Mouthwash may also cause the endosperm to remain inside the seed which will make the seed very resistant to germinate. METHODS/PROCEDURES: In the beginning of the experiment, pea seeds were used in order to perform the experiment. It was extremely important to acquire good, dry, and viable seeds so the process of germination could occur. A handful of these healthy seeds worked best in assisting the experiment. The seeds ability to germinate was a vital information needed to determine the outcome of the experiment. The second step of the experiment was to soak the seeds in water overnight. This action was made to prepare the seeds for germination and making them more softer and less rigid. The seeds were placed in a bowl and were covered by tin foil. It was set up on the refrigerator to minimize any outside interference that may come to it. After a full night of absorbing the water, the seeds were ready to start the next stage. The third step that was taken was germinating the seeds. Two sets of paper towels were used to germinate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Proactive And Begin With The End Of Mind By Stephen R.... Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind Stephen R. Covey writes that there is not a greater investment to grow in new habits, and he invites his readers to study these habits and be patient with ourselves. I like that he writes, be patient with ourselves, because we are people that are not perfect and we cannot achieve that perfection in ourselves. The first two habits are, Be Proactive and Begin with the End in Mind. Both of these habits are about moving from independence to interdependence that focus mainly on our choices or mastering your thoughts. I like Covey s statement, I am responsible for me, and I can choose. Proactive When I first thought of proactive, it meant to recall all of the scenarios that may come up so that I may be ready. Actually, this is how Covey uses his right brain, in imaging all the things that can go wrong and dreaming up ways to help. This is natural for me to meditate this way. However, this kind of proactive can create worry and keep me up late over visualizing. I prefer praying and sitting with Jesus, because it is impossible to come up with everything alone in my own head and this causes too much work. I believe in working with a team and what comes to each of us in a situation is valuable and ideas that could only come from someone who ruminates different that I do. Overly proactive people sometimes can be manipulative, because they have already worked through everything in their head and if they are open to new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution According to the History.com Staff, The October Revolution began on November 6 and 7, 1917 (or October 24 and 25 on the Julian calendar). (Russian Revolution ). The October Revolution has also been called the Bolshevik Revolution since the Bolshevik Party played a crucial role in the revolution. The leader of the Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Lenin was a big supporter of Karl Marx. Another Marxist who leads this revolution was Leon Trotsky. In an article by the History.com Staff, Lenin had created an, almost, bloodless coup d état against the provisional government. ( Russian Revolution ). The Bolshevik revolution started when, Alexander Kerensky, rather than follow an order. On October 24th, Kerensky ordered troops that were loyal, to act against the Bolshevik. Encyclopædia Britannica tells us that, Kerensky was a socialist revolutionary who served as head of the Russian Provisional Government. ( Aleksandr Kerensky ). According to History.com Staff, The provisional government had created a group of leaders from Russia s bourgeois capitalist class. Lenin would alternatively call for a Soviet state that would be controlled directly by councils of workers, peasants, and soldiers. ( Russian Revolution ). Both decided that the Soviets was going to be a useful instrument in the next revolution. They didn t want the Soviets to have all the power until they could control them. • 5. A Comparison Of Thomas Morton And William Bradford Throughout time there has been people who for some reason or another cannot get along, Thomas Morton and William Bradford are no different. Thomas Morton s and William Bradford s had a contentious relationship fueled their narratives New English Cannon and Of Plymouth Plantation. Both Morton and Bradford attempt to soil the other s name by writing about their contradictory experiences with each other. But who comes out of this situation the true hero, Morton or Bradford? William Bradford s emotional outbursts and irrational thinking regarding Thomas Morton overshadows any good he has done in Plymouth, making William Bradford the anti colonial hero. William Bradford s main reasoning for his settling in America is to create a separatist utopia, freeing himself and members of his church from disgraceful behavior and British control. Meeting Morton rehashes old feelings of contempt in Bradford casing an influx of bad feelings. Bradford describes Morton as the Lord of Misrule (204) and accuses Morton of maintaining a school of Atheism (205). By stating the latter Bradford unknowingly damages his reputation therefore losing all respectability and credence. So, when Morton states because Mine Host was a man that endeavored to advance the dignity of the Church of England; which they would labor to vilify with uncivil terms, inveighing against the sacred Book of Common Prayer, and Mine Host that used it in a laudable manner amongst his family, as a practice of ... Gender And Socialization Paper Socialization regarding gender impacts the way an individual: ranks themselves in society in comparison to other genders, lives their gender identity within society, and self identifies as a gendered being. The intended goal of socialization is to prepare the individual for their role in several institutions, but roles are different depending on gender. The patriarchal American society holds many dated misconceptions about gender roles that result in differences in the socialization of men and women. As a result, everything female is considered to be abnormal or different. Through the lens of androcentrism the purpose of socialization for individuals is to accept that men rank higher than women in social hierarchy. Individuals are socialized to believe men are superior to women through the continual representation of hegemonic masculinities and emphasized femininities in popular culture and society. Effect Of Lowering The Freezing Point Of Water Nayla Epps, Mirsha Pierre and Malia Shields Honors Chemistry Period 2 Group:11 Topic:Lowering the Freezing Point of Water Due Date: 10/6/17 Background Research The scientists topic sentence is the freezing point point of water will decrease depending on the amount of solute used in the solvent. In this case it is water. The problem statement is How much solute is needed in cvde to decrease the freezing point of water. The independent variable is the amount of solute and the dependent variable is the temperature at the point when the water will freeze. There is no constant variable, the controlled variable is no solute (water only). The scientist s hypothesis is if there is more solute added to the water, then the water s freezing point will decrease based on the number of grams of solute. To test the hypothesis the scientists will constantly add more salt/sugar to the water to see how much freezing point decreases per gram. In order to lower the temperature at which water freezes you would need salt. When you add salt to ice the ice would melt and surprisingly get colder. Scientist prove salt lowers the freezing point of water. From scientist we learned that salt will lower the freezing point of water. Adding salt to an ice cube will make the ice cube melt. As the ice cube melts, energy is being used to separate bonds in the solid state. Breaking down salt in water causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Functional Theory In American History X In the 1998 film American History X, Derek Vineyard is paroled after serving 3 years in prison for brutally murdering two black men who were breaking into his truck. Through his Brother Danny s narration of a paper he is writing, it is learned that Derek was the leader of a large Neo Nazi group known as D.O.C., or Disciples of Christ, that committed many acts of racial crime throughout Los Angeles. Another physical factor is snow; if a volcano is snow capped, like Eyjafjallajokull, then the lahars and flash floods become a greater hazard. The flooding in Iceland in 2010 caused 700 people to be evacuated. Without the snow then lahars and floods may not be a problem at all. The location of the volcano is also important. If it is situated on a constructive plate boundary then it is generally less explosive, and therefore poses different threats to volcanoes situated on a destructive plate boundary. The volcano may also be situated on a hotspot like in Hawaii, where the eruptions aren t very explosive. Volcanos which aren t explosive can pose other threats to lava flows though, such as dangerous gases being released. Like in Lake Nyos, Cameroon where 1700 people died. Wind direction could also cause difference in the hazards, like during the Eyjafjallajokull eruption of 2010. If the wind was blowing in a different direction then the ash cloud wouldn t have been distributed across the Atlantic and Europe, meaning that there would have been a lot less air travel disruption. Then the ash cloud wouldn t have been a hazard as it wouldn t pose a threat to anyone. While society has benefited from this power , there are still ethical concerns that need attention such as privacy of data, security, reliability of data, intellectual property, and accessibility. Mark D. Bowles, Deborah G. Johnson, and H. In the first chapter of Introduction to digital literacy Bowles highlights five most common ethical issues related to the emergence of computers in society. He states that even though computers were a type of power that they should not be treated any differently from any other technology. • 17. The Tragic Characters Of Sophocles Antigone In literature, a tragedy is a drama where the main character in the end suffers extreme sorrow because of their mistakes or poor judgment. If characters fates are to suffer the extreme sorrows, then these characters are tragic characters. These tragic characters, however, must follow Aristotle s principles which include hamartia, hubris, peripeteia, anagnorisis, nemesis, and catharsis. If the character has all six of Aristotle s principles, then the character can qualify as an Aristotelian tragic character. Two examples of Aristotelian tragic characters are from Sophocles Greek play Antigone from the trilogy dealing with Oedipus and his children (Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone). The two Aristotelian tragic characters are Creon, the king of Thebes in Antigone, and Antigone herself. Creon s hamartia, his flaw that causes his downfall, includes his stubbornness which causes him to not listen to the opinions of others, including Tiresias, additionally, this also connects to hubris since he also did this because of his pride. In Antigone, Creon is an Aristotelian tragic character. His six principles are more obvious to the reader. Tiresias tries to warn Creon as to what will come if he doesn t change his ways now, but he ignores Tiresias even though he is a prophet. Creon says Tiresias sold his wisdom and lets out his words for hire (Sophocles 837). This means that Creon thinks that Tiresias has come to say these things to him because someone pays Tiresias ... Learning disabilities are a life long issue. Language problems that go untreated in the early years of school can continue into high school and adulthood. As a child who suffered with an Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), early intervention was very important for me to progress in school. I continue to this day, to utilize and build on compensatory techniques taught by my grade school Speech Pathologist. Henceforth, I have been able to succeed in school, social settings and now in college. According to the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) 2016 School Survey, Speech Pathologists rated the amount of paperwork, high workload/caseload size, and limited time for collaboration and budget constraints among their greatest challenges. Immense pressure is placed on the SLPs in a school setting. Children with learning disabilities have a multitude of different needs, and for many, thirty minute therapy sessions are not enough time to adequately address their problems. Furthermore, in many schools, Speech Language Pathologists have had to make up some or all of missed student sessions themselves without any substitute coverage. This in turn has increased group therapy sizes which compromises the quality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Examples Of Reflection Essay Reflection Essay At the end of August as I started my first semester in English 99 I was a different person who had a fixed mindset and thought I would never be able to correctly structure or organize an essay. Looking back, at my progress, I definitely know I am more than ready for English 100. I have incorporated many of the strategies I recently learned throughout the course of the semester to improve both my in class and out of class essay. To start off with I enhanced my introduction on both essays expanding the main idea in my thesis and thoroughly answering the prompt question. I also, changed a few of my word choices, because most of them did not specify or convey my thoughts clearly. Now, for my evidence as I referred back to previous reading selections I correctly formated my quotes placing quotation marks and commas in the right place as well as paraphrasing key concepts into 25 words or less in only one sentence to explain a chosen quote. Many rearrangements were made in my body paragraphs where I would start my ideas but not finish my analysis. Adding examples either from experience or any related ideas, made both my essays so much better and more coherent. Lastly, I appended much more information to wrap up my conclusions, since they were not straightforward or neither restate my thesis statement. For my reading and writing processes I have learned ample techniques to become better and more successful in each and every unit, especially the very last one, The Dark Side of Happiness, by June Gruber, because of its intricate and complex key points it was a challenging reading. Coming from High School where teachers do not exemplify any techniques caused me to be uncomfortable with rigorous and demanding readings like this (The Dark Side of Happiness.) I can now say my understanding of how important it is to read and write grew profoundly. I have never really considered myself a great reader, since I do not enjoy reading, but knowing how to dissect, go under the surface, and more in depth in each reading influenced my perception. I was then introduced to brainstorming as well, a method used most often to express your thoughts and ideas without them being right. In addition, knowing how to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, a number of studies have depicted the need for BC screening/early detection in LMICs to prevent early deaths of women presenting with late stage at diagnosis. Yet, many complex issues harvest in the context of planning and implementation of BC screening in LMICs. So far, mammography has remained the main examination of BC screening throughout the world. Adequate evidence exists from some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that mammography screening is associated with significant reductions in BC mortality. But in order to be effective, mammographic screening programs must be of high quality, with appropriate targeting and of sufficient frequency. In LMICs, BC incidence is lower and occurs more in younger age groups when breast tissue is dense. Promoting a need for another, more appropriate screening examination to take place. Also, there is a lack of resources for implementing any population level screening programs using mammography. As students began to discuss each source, they began to notice and see the gaps in Forrest Gump narrative. Students started realizing the 1960s was more complicated and disrupted their knowledge and beliefs of the decade. This source sequencing exercise continued over the course of the semester, as students practiced making historical sense of complex sources, including images and films. Nevertheless, I found Felten s exercise useful because students learn how to view visuals that help them confront their deeply held beliefs in particular historical narratives and learn how to analyze the nature of any source from moving images to the analysis of a still ... • 49. Puritan Community Research Paper The Puritan community, formed with the intent of separating themselves from religious persecution, built themselves a new home in North America. Held closely together buy their religion, created a community in which all people worked diligently, and strived to better themselves spiritually. To be this upstanding, hard working group the focus of the religion, and the principles the people followed all starts with the individual contributors to this community. As individuals, in this community, they do not have to listen to only one person talk about God s word, and have to belief what they hear. They can perform individualism, reading the bible for themselves and interpreting what they feel God wants them to read. Through this freedom to read the word of God for themselves. The people can share their ideas on what the verses in the bible are trying to interpret, and come to a better understanding, within themselves, on what their purpose in life is. As the main bonding agent to the people and their community, God was the factor that would determine a person s fate after death. In the Puritan religion, they believed in ... Even though the wealthy were seen as being favored by God, they were also expected to help the poor, to show they were still humble and wanted to see their fellow man prosper as they did. with the rich helping the poor, this showed that both parties are still equal and are still judged by the same God. • 50. On Behalf of Paper For centuries, people have read and learned on paper. It has loyally served man as the ideal vehicle for conveying our thoughts, feelings, and ideas. In recent years, an opponent has risen: computers. The computer brought the world to our fingertips, to the palm of our hands, but is this competitor superior? Should we drop the written and printed empire that had dominated and quenched our thirst for knowledge for so long? Paper has served an ever changing world well, constantly adapting and morphing into new and improved forms. Even in a world where consumers demand eco friendly products, paper has adapted. Paper remains important and practical despite a growing demand for their electronic counterparts. Paper has become one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We threw out scraps. By the time I moved on, everything was recycled. We even urged customers to use paper that had at least 10% post consumer product. Although paper has been harmful to the environment in the past, it has become the most recycled material in the country. This recyclable product is a practical and eco friendly vehicle for conveying information. Despite common belief, America s forests are not being destroyed to satisfy a large demand for paper or any other wood product. According to the USDA Forest Inventory, the area of forest in the United States has increased by 13 Million acres since 1987. Before 1987, the national forest area had been declining since settlers landed in the new world.. During this extensive period, forests were decimated and any business associated with forestry gained a stigma. This stigma has carried on. The forest inventory data clearly shows a change in 1987. A nearly five century trend was reversed. The reversal of deforestation has been attributed, in part, to paper mills and other paper production facilities largely contributing to the roughly 1.8 million acres of trees planted every year. The forests of America are growing once again. The sustainable practices adopted by those who produce paper has helped to make it an even more practical and eco friendly product despite a lingering stigma. Paper lends an important role in fine motor skill development, a role that computer devices lack the ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
