Silence Of The Lambs Meaning
Silence of the lambs is about an FBI agent trainee Clarice Starling. She is called in for a job to
interview a psychopathic killer Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal the cannibal) in his psychiatric jail cell.
Hannibal Lecter is defined by the president of Baltimore State forensic Hospital as a monster. The
movie consists of regular meetings between Clarice and Hannibal to solve the case of Buffalo Bill
who has killed multiple young women. I think what Jonathan Demme was trying to tell us is about the
good vs. evil in our world. However sometimes evil can be good. Although Hannibal had killed many
people, he still helped the investigators catch a viscous serial killer. Demme did an amazing job the
way he made Clarice represent the good within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title has a very deep meaning behind it. We think of lambs as soft, fragile creatures that need to be
protected. We don t like to picture them crying on their way to the slaughterhouse. In a way that
reflects Clarice. Deep inside I believe Clarice is scared, and she doesn t know what to say or do even
when she s being led to her slaughter. As well Clarice still hears the screaming of the lambs, because
she believes they won t go away until she can save the victims. I understood most of the film, however
after Hannibal attacks the guards he doesn t escape quickly, he takes his time. It seems as though he
gets lost in the music and is brought back to reality when he hears Sergeant Pembry groaning in pain.
Did he dissociate himself or was it just part of the movie? Also what type of mental illness did
Hannibal have? My favorite character is Hannibal Lecter because although not very he tall he was a
strong person. He is intellectually brilliant and he knows a lot about art and literature from all of his
studies. He has an extreme ability to analyze a person and follow details. He is also very sensitive to
the senses and uses them to influence people. He was a very successful man who was known
throughout Baltimore as a highly accredited psychiatrist. However his downfall was that he could
never talk about himself or analyze

Social Action Theories Essay
Social action theories are known as micro theories which take a bottom up approach to studying
society; they look at how individuals within society interact with each other. There are many forms of
social action theories, the main ones being symbolic interactionism, phenomenology and
ethnomethodology. They are all based on the work of Max Weber, a sociologist, who acknowledged
that structural factors can shape our behaviour but individuals do have reasons for their actions. He
used this to explain why people behave in the way in which they do within society. Weber saw four
types of actions which are commonly committed within society; rational, this includes logical plans
which are used to achieve goals, traditional customary behaviour, ... Show more content on

Labelling theory has also been used to apply the interactionist theory to society; the theory, like Mead,
emphasises the importance of symbols and situations in which they are used. The main interactionist
concepts are the definition of the situation if we believe in something then it could affect the way in
which we behave. The looking glass self this was created by Cooley who argues that we see ourselves
in a way in which we think others see us. These concepts have been useful in explaining why people
act in certain ways in certain situations; therefore, the labelling theory is effective in the study of
society.
Overall, in conclusion, there are many different social action theories which can be used in the study
of society, however, not all of them can be applied to all

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER
The name is Kaimana, Athena Kaimana Zarka. While not a bona fide Bond girl, after graduating from

Freak The Mighty Hero Quotes
After reading the novel Freak the Mighty, we notice who the hero is. Both of these characters are keen
ones in this fascinating novel. In the novel Kevin saved Max, but at the same time, Max saved Kevin.
Max saved Kevin in multiple ways. Max gave Kevin legs that he never had. This was figurative, Max
didn t actually donate his legs, but he carried Kevin around to make Kevin feel like he had legs of his
own. Kevin had Morquio s syndrome, in preschool he called himself Robotman because of the leg
braces running up his legs. Max had given Kevin a chance to be normal and be able to do normal
things. At the beginning of the novel, Max got Kevin s ornithopter out of a tree. This act of kindness
resulted in Kevin making a friend that he would never regret making. Max also helped Kevin when he
called for a nurse when Kevin started coughing up his food. Max had warned Kevin to not eat so fast,
but Kevin continued to do so. Even then he still kept his eye on Kevin, which signaled true friendship.
When Max and Kevin went to see the fireworks, Kevin couldn t see. Without thinking, Max lifted
Kevin upon his shoulders. Magnesium! he shouts as the white sparkles glitter down over the pond. We

The Pros And Cons Of Private Security
Private security is growing rapidly throughout several countries. Usually security is militarized to
assist with the rise in criminal activity mostly in the urban areas in Trinidad and Tobago. Although the
private security continues to answer the call when it comes to forces of globalization and privatization
of the challenges of public security and its limited resources (Anyanwu 2012).
The private military companies (PMC) and the private security companies (PSC) are similar when it
comes to services provided for the greater demands for different types of security. Carlos Ortiz defines
private security companies and private military companies as legally established international firms
offering services that involve the potential to exercise force in a systematic way and by military or
paramilitary means, as well as the enhancement, the transfer, the facilitation, the deterrence, or the
defusing of this potential, or the knowledge required to implement it, to clients. (Anyanwu, 2012)
According to Anyanwa, private military companies have been used since 1990 for the industries in
Trinidad and Tobago, but they both lack some ability to meet traditional state protective standards
along with the local police trying to meet the growing demands of security needed. Even though
private security is growing both regional and international, the local agencies are small but still the
majority.
These agencies offer the traditional armed officer and unarmed guards for services. It has

Why I Become A Naturopathic Physician
I want to become a Naturopathic Physician because I wish to help people choose how to be healthy.
Growing up, I dealt with several health problems, one of which I was able to manage with ibuprofen,
but I desired a solution instead of a temporary fix. As a result, I sought the help of my conventional
physician. Instead of working to discover the root of the problem, she simply prescribed a stronger
pain reliever. I then turned to a Naturopathic Physician, because many of my friends were suggesting
that I look into that profession. Thankfully, my Naturopathic Physician and I discovered that daily
supplements would control my major health problem, and we found solutions to my more trivial
problems. The experience taught me that when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a young age, I wanted to be a conventional physician, but as I grew older, I became more
disillusioned with our current medical system. As I became more disillusioned, I was more drawn to
the naturopathic field and the opportunities it presented to treat problems naturally. In addition, I felt
that the naturopathic field offered more personalized care to the patient as they struggled with their
different health problems. The way that conventional medicine practices tries to treat as many patients
as possible in the shortest amount of time. The field seems not to respect the patient as a person, and I
feel like every person should experience a favorable level of respect when interacting with medical
professionals. In addition, I feel that patients should know that their doctor cares for them and their
health, and that is difficult to convey in a 15 minute appointment, especially when compared with a 45
minute appointment. As a Naturopathic Physician, I feel that I will be able to provide my patients with
the care that they deserve.
The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Program at National vigorously prepares students for life as

The Telecommunications Industry Is Evolving
The Telecommunications industry is evolving. In 2006, 98% of the wireless market was held by the
big three, Rogers, TELUS and Bell. Today, due largely in part to recent government action, 25% of the
market that was held by the big three, is now held by other competitors (Industry Canada, 2015). How
are these companies performing in this new, more competitive market? TELUS and Rogers
Communications are the two largest telecommunications companies in Canada and this will be an
analysis and comparison of their recent financial performance.
Rogers Communications, a Summary

Because our last names were close in alphabetical order, we also ended up standing next to each other

The Physics Of Nuclear Power
A pellet of nuclear fuel weighs roughly 0.1 ounces, but yet has the same amount of energy as a ton of
coal (McLeish, 2008, p. 47). Such a small portion of nuclear fuel can produce a magnificent impact.
This strong energy alternative must be closely analyzed to predict the future of its ability. There are
many characteristics that must be taken into account to permit a nuclear power plant to operate
properly.
The process of generating electrical power consists of several precise steps that must be executed
correctly. The four main fundamental elements of a nuclear power plant are reactor, cooling system,
electrical power generating unit, and safety system (Newton Gilman, 2014). Producing nuclear power
originates from a process known as fission, which occurs when atoms split apart and releases energy
that is used to generate electricity. The author states, the splitting of an atom releases an incredible
amount of heat and gamma radiation, or radiation made of high energy protons (Brain Lamb, 2000). A
chain reaction takes place during nuclear fission. It occurs when an atom of uranium 235 is struck by a
neutron, releasing a tiny amount of heat energy. Ultimately the nucleus of the uranium becomes
unstable and splits into two smaller nuclei, meanwhile releasing two or three more neutrons in the
process (McLeish, 2008, p. 8). While dealing with a chain reaction critical mass must be taken into
account. Critical mass is knowing the smallest mass of a fissionable material

Oedipus vs. Hamlet as Tragic Heroes
Oedipus from the drama, Oedipus the King and Hamlet from, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark are two
characters that are different, yet they both share the same title of being a tragic hero. Oedipus and
Hamlet have many characteristics of a tragic hero that separates them in varieties. However, some of
those characteristics show that both characters have and use similar thought processes and methods,
which classify them as tragic heroes of their dramas. The five characteristics of a tragic hero are:
nobility, tragic flaw, peripeteia, anagnorisis, and lastly irony. Both Oedipus and Hamlet hold or have a

Oedipus s tragic flaw is gained once he obtained his greatness and became king. Oedipus s knowledge

tragic flaw was his own intelligence, which later became curiosity for the all the burdens that is be
fallen over his kingdom. He had a troubling obsession for learning the truth, so he could not sit aside
so he went on a menacing quest for answers. Oedipus stated a message that reveled his flaw, Then
once more I must bring what is dark to light, but for my own sake to be rid of evil ( Sophocles 134;

is Oedipus wanted to avoid his fate, but instead his own tragic flaw walked him into it. Even after
Oedipus learned of the truth from the prophecy, his mind continued to deny what was the actual truth.
The prophet spoke these words to Oedipus, I say that you, with your eyes, are blind / you can not see
the wretchedness of your life (Sophocles 196 197). He still ventured on to find the alternative to his
fate and he only became worse. Soon Oedipus s pride corrupted his intelligence increasing his flaw.
He now accused anyone who restated the prophecy and told all they were only after his crown. Hamlet

Analysis Of Aimee Bender s Willful Creatures
Aimee Bender s Willful Creatures is a collection of fifteen short stories each with their own unique
story. Although each story has its own plot and characters, the overall effect produced individually ties
the book together into one single work. Whether the story is about a woman and her potatoes, a girl
who is bullied throughout her life, or a man who has intercourse with single mothers, the problems of
society is enlightened. Bender ultimately shapes her novel into a collection of satirical pieces directed
towards society. Through the individual messages portrayed in the stories, including Dearth,
Debbieland, and Motherfucker, Bender exaggerates and criticizes problems in society. Ultimately, the
satirical aspects of each story connect them with each other and makes Willful Creatures a work of
criteria to humanity. Each story portrays a different assessment of social issues. Take for instance,
Dearth presents a story about a lonely woman and her potatoes that transform into potato children. The
protagonist of Dearth is thrown into a messy motherhood and is forced to deal with taking care of the
newly born potato children ( Willful Creatures ). For a decent amount of the story, the protagonist
resents the potatoes and tries to do whatever she can to get rid of them, such as throwing them outside
or burying them in her yard (Bender 154 and 163). Her neglect and mistreatment of the potatoes are
utilized as a criteria to the ignorance that people feel towards their

Mythical Roles Of Krishna In Mahabharata
In light of recent events (?? What s the name ??) at iitk as well as new clubs like Bhakti Vedanta club I
was forced to collect my thoughts on why I don t find Krishna in Bhagwad Gita, even remotely useful
as an ethical role model. First lets see the historical context in which the book was written. If you are
the sort of person who thinks that _Mahabharata_ was not just a folklore, probably inspired by some
old war around modern Delhi, constantly being rewritten and reimagined in oral transmission over the
years by numerous bards, then I request you to stop reading any further as it will be a waste of time
for both of us. Although I haven t read the _Mahabharata_ in its entirety, I personally find it a fabulous
of epic about the dilemma of power and probably, the most harrowing of the ancient epics. And just
like the Homeric epics, I find no reason, why _Mahabharata_ hasn t been reworked heavily over the
years. My favorite aspect about _Mahabharata_ as a story is there is no single party line on any

Nature_ that humans over the years are orienting away from violence and better moral sense,
extremely compelling. You might say, we had Ashoka and Buddha popularizing non violence much
before that. This is true, but one must realize this was only a tiny blip in the years of wars all over the
land now considered India. I would like to make it clear that my intention is not to offend people but

External Changes And Internal Reforms Of The Last 40 Years
This essay will show that the external changes and internal reforms of the last 40 years have led to the
retreat of the liberal democratic state. Perhaps, these changes and reforms have resulted in the revival
of the state, but overall this has not been the case. This is due to the fragmentation and diminished
accountability stemmed from the internal reform, new public management. Although the issue of
Europeanisation is raised when discussing the state s retreatment, I will focus on the topic of
globalisation. This is because of the loss of power, sovereignty and nationality the state has suffered.
The liberal democratic state has been in retreat due to its fragmentation and diminished accountability
caused by the internal reform: new public management (NPM). NPM is an attempt to reform the
public sector through the application of management techniques used in the private sector. In reality,
NPM is a loose concept, consisting of different economic reforms. (Osborne 2009) While the adoption
of NPM has had many advantages, there have been substantial unintended consequences from this
implementation. This internal reform has resulted in a fragmentation of the state that has led to blurred
and diminished accountability. Rhodes explains that within the UK civil service the role of officials is
increasingly constrained by new management systems and political controls. The obvious outcomes of
these changes are fragmentation and diminished accountability. (1994: 151) This

Musical Instrument Benefit An Individual
Learning to play any musical instrument benefits an individual in all aspects of life, whether it s
academically, socially, physically, or emotionally. Instruments that were created to make musical
sounds are categorized into five main groups; strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and keyboards.
And all it takes is dedication and admiration in order to successfully learn how to play an instrument. I
believe that musicians, those who have musical ability, have an advantage over other individuals who
don t have the knowledge to play an instrument. Becoming a musician, will also open up so many
opportunities that are undeniably gratifying. As a child, from the day I was born until I was capable of
choosing my own genre of music to listen to, my mother has always played classical music around
me, whether it was an attempt to make me fall asleep, or to simply relax her nerves of having to listen
to me constantly cry throughout the day. Out of five children, my mother seemed to have only played
classical music around me and in a sense, I feel that that experience grew with me. Of course, it s not a
direct reasoning, but till this day, being the only child interested in instruments, I feel that the constant
playing of this genre of music influenced my view on instruments. The first appearance, musical
instruments made in my life was during the third grade while my middle school music instructor

The Distribution And Mobilization Of A Groundwater Aquifer
Geochemistry plays an important role the distribution and mobilization of As in groundwater aquifer.
To find the influence of geochemical processes of As mobilization in groundwater of the study area,
the correlation matrix among As and various physio chemical parameter are given in Table 4. Pearson
correlation matrices show that various physio chemical parameters pairs of groundwater samples have
a significant positive correlations such as TDS EC (r = 1.000), TDS Na (r = 0.587), TDS Ca (r =
0.624), EC Na (r = 0.617), EC Ca (r = 0.618), Na Ca (r = 0.564), and K Mn (r = 0.566) respectively.
Similarly some pairs have also shown significant negative correlation such as Mg2+ HCO3 (r =
0.590), well depth Mn (r = 0.518). The concentration of As in groundwater has insignificantly
negative correlated to Fe (r= 0.260), Cl (r= 0.081) and SO42 (r= 0.062), while As has insignificantly
positive correlated to Mn (r=0.185), NO3 ( r=0.111), HCO3 (r=1777), pH (r=0.226), Na+ (r=0.223),
K+ (r=0.227), Ca2+ (r=0.262) and Mg2+ (r=0.199). In this study, an insignificant positive correlation
between As and Mn has observed, while an insignificant negative correlation between As and Fe has
existed in groundwater aquifer (Table 4). This finding is in good agreement with the earlier correlation

Why Did Lans Join Aseann
In 1990s, Laos agreed and joined AFTA in order to join ASEAN, but was given longer time frames in
which to meet AFTA s tariff reduction obligations [7]. AFTA, with its main goal, to increase ASEAN s
competitive edge as a production base in the world market through the elimination, within ASEAN, of
tariffs and non tariff barriers; and to attract more foreign direct investment to ASEAN, used the
Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT) scheme as the main mechanism, which comprises a
schedule for phasing out the tariffs. In June 1993, the two governments (Government of the Lao

South Asian And Indian Societies
Long distance trades played a major role in economic, cultural and religious exchanges that took place
between major civilizations in Europe, Africa and Asia during the pre modern period. Chinese, West
Asian and Indian societies were the first ones to develop major transportation networks. A few
examples of such important trade routes are The Silk Route, The Trans Saharan Caravan Trade in
Africa and the maritime Spice Route. The Silk Road is the most famous trade network in the world
and its complex links across Eurasia is considered the first example of globalization. The network
exchanged not only commercial goods but also elements of civilization such as art, religion,
philosophy, technology and science therefore it was considered a cultural bridge between Asia and
Europe. The Silk Road (130 BCE to 1453 CE) consisted of links of trade routes of about 7000
kilometers, established during the Han Dynasty of China and it is considered the major economic
achievement of this Dynasty. The Han empire was constantly being threatened by the nomad tribe
Xiongnu from the North and at the time of emperor Wudi, it was decided that under the leadership of
Zhang Qian, the first delegation would sent out West in 138 BC in order to form an alliance with the
Yuezhi s peoples who had settled in Northern India, against the Xiongnu. The delegation eventually
brought back information regarding unknown states to the west and of a new breed of horses which
could enforce the Han cavalry against

Lost Girl Analysis
Lost Girl was performed at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre in the F. Loren Winship Building by Texas
Theatre and Dance. Written by Kimberly Belflower, the play engaged the audience through its use of
projection designs, surprise effects, and sedentary set designs and was well received by adults and
students alike. Through these factors, the production was able to relay the message of finding oneself
to the audience, and encourage those who are lost to follow Wendy Darling s path to acceptance.
Primarily, Lost Girl utilizes digitally projected shadows in the play to offer not only a background for
the plot, but also a connection to the movie Peter Pan. As the public is more acquainted with Disney s
version of the animated film, the projection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the narrators stated Wendy wrote letters to Peter , instead of acting out the phrase, a platform
opened above the stage and poured out letters that Wendy wrote. When the sheets of paper cascaded
down, some people let out a gasp of surprise. A few letters even drifted to the front row of seats, and
some were picked up by the audience. In effect, this action allowed the audience to have a three
dimensional interaction with the play. Previously, a performance usually only integrates the senses of
sight and sound, but in this instance people were able to reach out and touch the flying papers. The
surprise effect allows Lost Girl to surpass the traditional theatre space, and to allow the audience a
deeper immersion into the play. From the engagement, the crumpled up papers not only symbolize
Wendy s frustrated attempts in communicating with Peter, but also her incompetence in forgetting the
past. Like a sheet of paper, Wendy was able to momentarily fly, but once she reached the ground, she
was just like any other girl in the world. Through this effect, the play s message is relayed through
surprises, and the public experiences the theme on a deeper level as they not only can see or hear
emotions, but can also physically feel

Maile Meloy s The Apothecary
I am reading The Apothecary by Maile Meloy. This book is about a young girl named Janie who
moves to the United Kingdom after World War II and meets a boy named Ben and his father, The
Apothecary, who can make you tell the truth, turn you into a bird, turn you into salt, make you
invisible, and many other objects. They meet a boy named Pip, and with the apothecary s crew they go
to Nova Zeblam, where the soviets will test their atomic bomb, and test their nets, flowers, and other
objects, to stop radiation and the blow of the bomb, and it works. Janie is the narrator, so the book is
in first person. This story takes place mostly in the United Kingdom, other than a sea and a soviet
island, in 1952, seven years after the world war ended. There are many types of conflict in this book,
there is person vs person (Mr. Danby vs Janie), person vs society (The Apothecary vs Soviet Union),
and person vs self (Janie vs Janie). Pip is a very important character in The Apothecary. Pip is a ...

Cause and Effect
John Henderson Cause and Effect April 14, 2013 Cause and Effect of being a student athlete The
dedication and self motivation required to balancing schoolwork and practice is the most difficult part
of being a student athlete. I find that being a student athlete plays out to be much harder than most
people think. It s very difficult especially at the beginning of the year, when it finally hits you that you
re growing up and finally have to do your own laundry. You re not only getting your self situated as
far as classes go, but also meeting new people. You have to balance all the new tasks in your life as
well as starting new relationships. One obvious cause of wanting to become a student athlete is the
persona. Everyone wants to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is only a fortunate bunch of people that get to put on a uniform to represent something bigger
than them, so as a student athlete you take pride in what you do, and you take advantage in
representing your school every time you touch the field. The most important effect of being a student
athlete is your teammates and your everlasting friendships. You will meet a lot of people being a
student athlete but only a small group of individuals will become your friends to the point you can call
them your second family. That is the meaning of a team. As an athlete you will develop a strong
character and a competitive spirit. You ll become more disciplined and responsible, which will
certainly help you in your professional life. Above all you develop relationships that can be
unbreakable. You go through hell with each other, or as some people like to call it conditioning. You
step on the field and go to battle with one another trusting that the other guys in the game will give as
much effort if not more to win. You ll get on each other s nervous and sometimes get into fights, but
no matter what at the end of the day you ll always have your second family. The effect of being a
student athlete shapes your body, your life, and your mind in good ways. Practicing a sport, going to
classes, doing homework and trying to balance a social life keeps you entertained and far away from
boredom. In addition you will have the chance to experience the amazing feeling of

Jigsaw Vs 3 Movies
In the past 10 years, it seems that every film coming out in the summer is a new film to start a
franchise, or yet another sequel in a franchise universe. Hell, there are films in low budget horror
franchises that are going on their 3rd films. I don t even want to mention there s yet another Saw film
called Jigsaw that is due to be released pretty soon.
Just as I predicted the downfall of 3D films in 2015, I predict that the major success of franchise films
will eventually wither away for a good while. Why? A good thing can only last so long before people
get tired of it. Do you love pizza? Of course you do. Would you love to work at a pizza place where
you get to eat pizza all the time? Hell yeah you would. But after a few months you ... Show more

That is a terrible start for a cinematic universe with the help of Tom Cruise.
What movies we did get this year were some fantastic original films. Baby Driver, Dunkirk, The Big
Sick, and Wind River. All of these films made a lot of money each, and they all got phenomenal
reviews. Why? Because people didn t know what to expect. You can go into a Marvel film and be
wowed by the visuals, but you know they re all paint by numbers with different paint brushes.
Not only are those original films crushing it at the box office, an increasingly growing movement of
horror films are cleaning up at the box office. Like IT, small budget horror films can bring in the
crowds with little money. The movie The Conjuring made $318 million on a budget of $20 million (I
get that it has become a franchise, but they re still low budget and earn major bucks). The movie
Annabelle made $256.9 million on a budget of $6.5 million. I couldn t tell you one person who stars,
wrote, or directed any of those movies. There are a dozen more examples, but you get my point.
What further makes these franchise films start to get weighed down with costs are the actors. No one
really cares about A list actors anymore in films. I don t go see a superhero film because of a certain
actor is in it, no, I go and see it because of the action and comic book story. Have you heard about any
films beyond Iron Man that Robert Downey Jr. did that did well in theaters

The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and...
The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems
Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a
wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in, it
is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and finally
hatred.
Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The
symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one
loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. The placement of nulla at the beginning of the lines gives it great
importance and stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut vulgus
amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for Lesbia also had a
non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love. However the quondam is
significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and Catullus s feeling has since changed.
nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly, ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia
and he can no longer view her with affection even though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is
juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them.
Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem
72 generally creates a strong contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia.
He chooses particularly emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of
Catullus s passion and vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes
how much Lesbia has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria
talis cogit amare magis, sed bene velle minus, is clear and logical, given Catullus s

Seneca Falls The First Women s Rights Convention
Seneca Falls was the first women s rights convention in the United States. The convention took place
at the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls, NY, on July 19, 1848 (Seneca Falls Convention Begins). This
convention was organized by two abolitionist named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton with
the help of Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock, and Jane Hunt. They posted the announcement in
the Seneca County Courier on July 14, 1848. The message said A Convention to discuss the social,
civil, and religious conditions and rights of women will be held... (American Memory). The Seneca
Falls community was open to the idea of changing public roles of women in society. So it was no
surprise when about 300 people responded to the message in the courier. The convention took place
for two days, Wednesday July 19, 1848 and Thursday July 20, 1989. During the two day period the
participants listened to multiple speeches, wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, created 11 resolutions
that proclaimed equality of all people and declared all laws/customs that subordinated women
illegitimate. The first day of the convention was exclusive to women only. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
introduced the Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments was a document that was
similar to the Declaration of Independence written by Stanton, it included a list of eighteen grievances
women faced and eleven resolutions. During the first day the women read and revised the Declaration
of Sentiments. One of

So I was basically on my own. I edited a highlight real, sent it out, and began to try to get in contact
with coaches. I had been quite successful in high school, earning All State awards for both offence and
defense, but had no idea how I would compare to football players at the collegiate level. I would come
to find out that I was very behind in the recruiting process. Most school had already handed out
scholarships and the ones who hadn t were not interested in me. With no offers, I was very
discouraged and felt like giving up on the thought of playing in college. But rather than give up, I
branched out and began to try to get in contact with schools out of state. I looked as far away as
Montana, to Connecticut, to California. I truly had nothing to lose in my pursuit of my dream. I began
to focus more on California schools, because of how much I loved California.
Then, out of nowhere, Azusa Pacific University, a small D2 school calls me and tells me they are very
interested in me and want me to visit. After telling my uncle of the news, he immediately picked me
up from school and drove me out to California, where I would have my first official visit to a
university. To most, this was nothing, but to me it was the world. I loved the campus, the people, and
the school. Although they were not going to offer me a scholarship, I felt confident that this is where I
wanted to go. I applied, got accepted, and planned to begin attending school the following fall.

  • 2. Silence Of The Lambs Meaning Silence of the lambs is about an FBI agent trainee Clarice Starling. She is called in for a job to interview a psychopathic killer Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal the cannibal) in his psychiatric jail cell. Hannibal Lecter is defined by the president of Baltimore State forensic Hospital as a monster. The movie consists of regular meetings between Clarice and Hannibal to solve the case of Buffalo Bill who has killed multiple young women. I think what Jonathan Demme was trying to tell us is about the good vs. evil in our world. However sometimes evil can be good. Although Hannibal had killed many people, he still helped the investigators catch a viscous serial killer. Demme did an amazing job the way he made Clarice represent the good within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title has a very deep meaning behind it. We think of lambs as soft, fragile creatures that need to be protected. We don t like to picture them crying on their way to the slaughterhouse. In a way that reflects Clarice. Deep inside I believe Clarice is scared, and she doesn t know what to say or do even when she s being led to her slaughter. As well Clarice still hears the screaming of the lambs, because she believes they won t go away until she can save the victims. I understood most of the film, however after Hannibal attacks the guards he doesn t escape quickly, he takes his time. It seems as though he gets lost in the music and is brought back to reality when he hears Sergeant Pembry groaning in pain. Did he dissociate himself or was it just part of the movie? Also what type of mental illness did Hannibal have? My favorite character is Hannibal Lecter because although not very he tall he was a strong person. He is intellectually brilliant and he knows a lot about art and literature from all of his studies. He has an extreme ability to analyze a person and follow details. He is also very sensitive to the senses and uses them to influence people. He was a very successful man who was known throughout Baltimore as a highly accredited psychiatrist. However his downfall was that he could never talk about himself or analyze ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Action Theories Essay Social action theories are known as micro theories which take a bottom up approach to studying society; they look at how individuals within society interact with each other. There are many forms of social action theories, the main ones being symbolic interactionism, phenomenology and ethnomethodology. They are all based on the work of Max Weber, a sociologist, who acknowledged that structural factors can shape our behaviour but individuals do have reasons for their actions. He used this to explain why people behave in the way in which they do within society. Weber saw four types of actions which are commonly committed within society; rational, this includes logical plans which are used to achieve goals, traditional customary behaviour, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Labelling theory has also been used to apply the interactionist theory to society; the theory, like Mead, emphasises the importance of symbols and situations in which they are used. The main interactionist concepts are the definition of the situation if we believe in something then it could affect the way in which we behave. The looking glass self this was created by Cooley who argues that we see ourselves in a way in which we think others see us. These concepts have been useful in explaining why people act in certain ways in certain situations; therefore, the labelling theory is effective in the study of society. Overall, in conclusion, there are many different social action theories which can be used in the study of society, however, not all of them can be applied to all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While not a bona fide Bond girl, after graduating from college, I hope to manifest the joint sophisticated elegance of a Kenyon Leading Lady with the consummately seasoned charms of a Hollywood heroine, licensed to write, direct, produce, and perform in comparable blockbuster films; however, I would not turn up my Polynesian proboscis or turn down any opportunity to put that selfsame Pinocchio s nose to the grindstone, in the interest of fabricating an Animated Film, Documentary, Indie, Short, Public Service Announcement, or Television series! If you are a Kenyon alum or College Swimming Diving fanatic, the Zarka name is significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Afterward, tone deaf Christian Missionary linguists haphazardly transposed the phonetically spelled (not) very similar sounding Hawaiian word for diamond, tiamoni, transmogrifying it into Kaimana the same way ancient alchemists endeavored to change base metals into gold unsuccessfully! The correct and proper translation of my Hawaiian name is KAI meaning Ocean or Sea and MANA denoting Power. In the native mother tongue of my Tongan materfamilias, it means Eater of Lightning and Magic. For my former professorial Father and a few erudite College Admission Deans, it is La Pietra High School mascot s official moniker. Flawlessly situated at the base of a volcanic Tuff cone correctly identified by Native Hawaiians as Lēʻahi; incorrectly by peripatetic tourists as Diamond Head; scientifically accurate by geological purists as Calcite Crystal Head; and located in the bygone Dillingham (The Gem) Mansion, the mascot now personifies a private School for Girls. • 5. Freak The Mighty Hero Quotes After reading the novel Freak the Mighty, we notice who the hero is. Both of these characters are keen ones in this fascinating novel. In the novel Kevin saved Max, but at the same time, Max saved Kevin. Max saved Kevin in multiple ways. Max gave Kevin legs that he never had. This was figurative, Max didn t actually donate his legs, but he carried Kevin around to make Kevin feel like he had legs of his own. Kevin had Morquio s syndrome, in preschool he called himself Robotman because of the leg braces running up his legs. Max had given Kevin a chance to be normal and be able to do normal things. At the beginning of the novel, Max got Kevin s ornithopter out of a tree. This act of kindness resulted in Kevin making a friend that he would never regret making. Max also helped Kevin when he called for a nurse when Kevin started coughing up his food. Max had warned Kevin to not eat so fast, but Kevin continued to do so. Even then he still kept his eye on Kevin, which signaled true friendship. When Max and Kevin went to see the fireworks, Kevin couldn t see. Without thinking, Max lifted Kevin upon his shoulders. However, after hanging out with Kevin, Max s grades skyrocketed up and he began to believe in himself. This is because Kevin tended to use advanced phrases when speaking. For example, he would say Television, the opiate of massives. I don t believe that he was aiming to be supercilious, but instead, I believe that that was Kevin s way of improving Max s ... • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Private Security Private security is growing rapidly throughout several countries. Usually security is militarized to assist with the rise in criminal activity mostly in the urban areas in Trinidad and Tobago. Although the private security continues to answer the call when it comes to forces of globalization and privatization of the challenges of public security and its limited resources (Anyanwu 2012). The private military companies (PMC) and the private security companies (PSC) are similar when it comes to services provided for the greater demands for different types of security. Carlos Ortiz defines private security companies and private military companies as legally established international firms offering services that involve the potential to exercise force in a systematic way and by military or paramilitary means, as well as the enhancement, the transfer, the facilitation, the deterrence, or the defusing of this potential, or the knowledge required to implement it, to clients. (Anyanwu, 2012) According to Anyanwa, private military companies have been used since 1990 for the industries in Trinidad and Tobago, but they both lack some ability to meet traditional state protective standards along with the local police trying to meet the growing demands of security needed. Even though private security is growing both regional and international, the local agencies are small but still the majority. • 7. Why I Become A Naturopathic Physician I want to become a Naturopathic Physician because I wish to help people choose how to be healthy. Growing up, I dealt with several health problems, one of which I was able to manage with ibuprofen, but I desired a solution instead of a temporary fix. As a result, I sought the help of my conventional physician. Instead of working to discover the root of the problem, she simply prescribed a stronger pain reliever. I then turned to a Naturopathic Physician, because many of my friends were suggesting that I look into that profession. Thankfully, my Naturopathic Physician and I discovered that daily supplements would control my major health problem, and we found solutions to my more trivial problems. The experience taught me that when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a young age, I wanted to be a conventional physician, but as I grew older, I became more disillusioned with our current medical system. As I became more disillusioned, I was more drawn to the naturopathic field and the opportunities it presented to treat problems naturally. In addition, I felt that the naturopathic field offered more personalized care to the patient as they struggled with their different health problems. The way that conventional medicine practices tries to treat as many patients as possible in the shortest amount of time. The field seems not to respect the patient as a person, and I feel like every person should experience a favorable level of respect when interacting with medical professionals. In addition, I feel that patients should know that their doctor cares for them and their health, and that is difficult to convey in a 15 minute appointment, especially when compared with a 45 minute appointment. As a Naturopathic Physician, I feel that I will be able to provide my patients with the care that they deserve. The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Program at National vigorously prepares students for life as Naturopathic Physician in the alternative medicine field. One unique way that National prepares students is through its integrated classrooms. This integration of students from different programs in the same course allows the students to interact and make connections with other students. Creating connections is ... I quickly turned to see who was calling to me. It was my friend Logan. Logan and I have been neighbors for about 5 years, and ever since he moved we had been really good friends. Because our last names were close in alphabetical order, we also ended up standing next to each other in attendance lines. We were staring out the window wishing we could be outside playing on the play structure or exploring the courtyard when he asked a question that was totally out of the blue. I dare you to pull the fire alarm Logan urged. This took me aback. I turned my attention to the bright red fire alarm with its clear case, just asking to be yanked down with all my might. When Jack and I heard those words we froze, we had never had anything taken away from us we were always asking for more and more until finally the only people that loved us were taken away from us. • 12. The Physics Of Nuclear Power A pellet of nuclear fuel weighs roughly 0.1 ounces, but yet has the same amount of energy as a ton of coal (McLeish, 2008, p. 47). Such a small portion of nuclear fuel can produce a magnificent impact. This strong energy alternative must be closely analyzed to predict the future of its ability. There are many characteristics that must be taken into account to permit a nuclear power plant to operate properly. The process of generating electrical power consists of several precise steps that must be executed correctly. The four main fundamental elements of a nuclear power plant are reactor, cooling system, electrical power generating unit, and safety system (Newton Gilman, 2014). Producing nuclear power originates from a process known as fission, which occurs when atoms split apart and releases energy that is used to generate electricity. The author states, the splitting of an atom releases an incredible amount of heat and gamma radiation, or radiation made of high energy protons (Brain Lamb, 2000). A chain reaction takes place during nuclear fission. It occurs when an atom of uranium 235 is struck by a neutron, releasing a tiny amount of heat energy. Ultimately the nucleus of the uranium becomes unstable and splits into two smaller nuclei, meanwhile releasing two or three more neutrons in the process (McLeish, 2008, p. 8). While dealing with a chain reaction critical mass must be taken into account. Critical mass is knowing the smallest mass of a fissionable material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oedipus s tragic flaw is gained once he obtained his greatness and became king. Oedipus s knowledge contained arrogance, and a metaphorical blindness that fosters his urge for the truth. He had a troubling obsession for learning the truth, so he could not sit aside so he went on a menacing quest for answers. Oedipus stated a message that reveled his flaw, Then once more I must bring what is dark to light, but for my own sake to be rid of evil ( Sophocles 134; 140). His pride and determination clouded his judgment to see the surface of the whole truth. The truth is Oedipus wanted to avoid his fate, but instead his own tragic flaw walked him into it. Even after Oedipus learned of the truth from the prophecy, his mind continued to deny what was the actual truth. The prophet spoke these words to Oedipus, I say that you, with your eyes, are blind / you can not see the wretchedness of your life (Sophocles 196 197). • 14. Analysis Of Aimee Bender s Willful Creatures Aimee Bender s Willful Creatures is a collection of fifteen short stories each with their own unique story. Although each story has its own plot and characters, the overall effect produced individually ties the book together into one single work. Whether the story is about a woman and her potatoes, a girl who is bullied throughout her life, or a man who has intercourse with single mothers, the problems of society is enlightened. Bender ultimately shapes her novel into a collection of satirical pieces directed towards society. Through the individual messages portrayed in the stories, including Dearth, Debbieland, and Motherfucker, Bender exaggerates and criticizes problems in society. Ultimately, the satirical aspects of each story connect them with each other and makes Willful Creatures a work of criteria to humanity. Each story portrays a different assessment of social issues. Take for instance, Dearth presents a story about a lonely woman and her potatoes that transform into potato children. The protagonist of Dearth is thrown into a messy motherhood and is forced to deal with taking care of the newly born potato children ( Willful Creatures ). For a decent amount of the story, the protagonist resents the potatoes and tries to do whatever she can to get rid of them, such as throwing them outside or burying them in her yard (Bender 154 and 163). Her neglect and mistreatment of the potatoes are utilized as a criteria to the ignorance that people feel towards their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What s the name ??) at iitk as well as new clubs like Bhakti Vedanta club I was forced to collect my thoughts on why I don t find Krishna in Bhagwad Gita, even remotely useful as an ethical role model. First lets see the historical context in which the book was written. If you are the sort of person who thinks that _Mahabharata_ was not just a folklore, probably inspired by some old war around modern Delhi, constantly being rewritten and reimagined in oral transmission over the years by numerous bards, then I request you to stop reading any further as it will be a waste of time for both of us. Although I haven t read the _Mahabharata_ in its entirety, I personally find it a fabulous of epic about the dilemma of power and probably, the most harrowing of the ancient epics. • 19. External Changes And Internal Reforms Of The Last 40 Years This essay will show that the external changes and internal reforms of the last 40 years have led to the retreat of the liberal democratic state. Perhaps, these changes and reforms have resulted in the revival of the state, but overall this has not been the case. This is due to the fragmentation and diminished accountability stemmed from the internal reform, new public management. Although the issue of Europeanisation is raised when discussing the state s retreatment, I will focus on the topic of globalisation. This is because of the loss of power, sovereignty and nationality the state has suffered. The liberal democratic state has been in retreat due to its fragmentation and diminished accountability caused by the internal reform: new public management (NPM). NPM is an attempt to reform the public sector through the application of management techniques used in the private sector. In reality, NPM is a loose concept, consisting of different economic reforms. (Osborne 2009) While the adoption of NPM has had many advantages, there have been substantial unintended consequences from this implementation. This internal reform has resulted in a fragmentation of the state that has led to blurred and diminished accountability. Rhodes explains that within the UK civil service the role of officials is increasingly constrained by new management systems and political controls. The obvious outcomes of these changes are fragmentation and diminished accountability. (1994: 151) This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Musical Instrument Benefit An Individual Learning to play any musical instrument benefits an individual in all aspects of life, whether it s academically, socially, physically, or emotionally. Instruments that were created to make musical sounds are categorized into five main groups; strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and keyboards. And all it takes is dedication and admiration in order to successfully learn how to play an instrument. I believe that musicians, those who have musical ability, have an advantage over other individuals who don t have the knowledge to play an instrument. Becoming a musician, will also open up so many opportunities that are undeniably gratifying. As a child, from the day I was born until I was capable of choosing my own genre of music to listen to, my mother has always played classical music around me, whether it was an attempt to make me fall asleep, or to simply relax her nerves of having to listen to me constantly cry throughout the day. Out of five children, my mother seemed to have only played classical music around me and in a sense, I feel that that experience grew with me. Of course, it s not a direct reasoning, but till this day, being the only child interested in instruments, I feel that the constant playing of this genre of music influenced my view on instruments. The first appearance, musical instruments made in my life was during the third grade while my middle school music instructor visited each class demonstrating and introducing the different abilities that ... You can go into a Marvel film and be wowed by the visuals, but you know they re all paint by numbers with different paint brushes. Not only are those original films crushing it at the box office, an increasingly growing movement of horror films are cleaning up at the box office. Like IT, small budget horror films can bring in the crowds with little money. The movie The Conjuring made $318 million on a budget of $20 million (I get that it has become a franchise, but they re still low budget and earn major bucks). The movie Annabelle made $256.9 million on a budget of $6.5 million. I couldn t tell you one person who stars, wrote, or directed any of those movies. There are a dozen more examples, but you get my point. What further makes these franchise films start to get weighed down with costs are the actors. No one really cares about A list actors anymore in films. I don t go see a superhero film because of a certain actor is in it, no, I go and see it because of the action and comic book story. Have you heard about any films beyond Iron Man that Robert Downey Jr. did that did well in theaters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and... The Range of Feelings Associated with Love in Catullus and Lesbia Poems Of Catullus s poems, the Lesbia poems are the most memorable, particularly as they contain such a wide range of feelings and emotions. Whilst we do not know what order the poems were written in, it is tempting to arrange them in a progression from constant love, to confusion and despair and finally hatred. Poem 87 appears to be at the beginning of the relationship between Catullus and Lesbia. The symmetry of the couplets beginning nulla and ending with mea est emphasizes the idea that no one loves Lesbia as much as Catullus. The placement of nulla at the beginning of the lines gives it great importance and stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poem 72 gives another aspect of Catullus s love towards Lesbia, dilexi tum te non tantum ut vulgus amicam, sed pate ut gnatos diligit et generos. Catullus here explains that his love for Lesbia also had a non physical, spiritual quality which would make it an ideal concept of love. However the quondam is significant here, reinforcing the fact that this was in the past and Catullus s feeling has since changed. nunc te cognoui: this phrase is deliberately, and bitterly, ambiguous. But now he really knows Lesbia and he can no longer view her with affection even though he desires her more strongly. Catullum is juxtaposed with Lesbia and both of these names are at the end of a line further emphasizing them. Later in the poem his esteem, dilexi is contrasted with his friendless intention bene velle minus. Poem 72 generally creates a strong contrast between Catullus s sincere love and his hatred towards Lesbia. He chooses particularly emotive lexis to convey this impensius uror, which shows the violence of Catullus s passion and vilior et levior, which by lexical choice and the use of comparatives emphasizes how much Lesbia has fallen in Catullus s eyes. The final phrase of this poem quod amantem iniuria talis cogit amare magis, sed bene velle minus, is clear and logical, given Catullus s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Seneca Falls The First Women s Rights Convention Seneca Falls was the first women s rights convention in the United States. The convention took place at the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls, NY, on July 19, 1848 (Seneca Falls Convention Begins). This convention was organized by two abolitionist named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton with the help of Martha Wright, Mary Ann McClintock, and Jane Hunt. They posted the announcement in the Seneca County Courier on July 14, 1848. The message said A Convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious conditions and rights of women will be held... (American Memory). The Seneca Falls community was open to the idea of changing public roles of women in society. So it was no surprise when about 300 people responded to the message in the courier. The convention took place for two days, Wednesday July 19, 1848 and Thursday July 20, 1989. During the two day period the participants listened to multiple speeches, wrote the Declaration of Sentiments, created 11 resolutions that proclaimed equality of all people and declared all laws/customs that subordinated women illegitimate. The first day of the convention was exclusive to women only. Elizabeth Cady Stanton introduced the Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments was a document that was similar to the Declaration of Independence written by Stanton, it included a list of eighteen grievances women faced and eleven resolutions. During the first day the women read and revised the Declaration of Sentiments. One of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Chauuvet Cave The Chauvet Cave holds the earliest human paintings known in history. Because of its importance, the access to the cave is restricted, except for a few archeologists and paleontologists. However, Herzog s crew got the opportunity to gain access to the cave and film. In general, caves are very sensitive, fragile, and narrow places. If the caves haven t been retouched by man s work, they are very uncomfortable and almost impossible to walk inside. However, it is necessary tot remain untouched or barely untouched so they keep their essence and important aspects such as the paintings. From the beginning of the film, you can notice the low quality of the film; it is very grainy and shaky. However, in the first minutes of the film the narrator explains ... • 34. Memoir Leland Sedberry Professor Fielden 10 February 2014 RWS 305 Memoir Final minutes of the first half winding down, my team was marching down the field with a purpose. Across the gridiron was our rival team, Mayfield, who we had beat the previous year in the state championship game. It was a cold November night and the stage was set, playing on their home field, The Field of Dreams, in Las Cruses, New Mexico in the semi finals of the state tournament. Up 14 0, we had the ball and were trying to score before going into halftime. I was handed the ball for a running play and then it happened. Falling to the ground as if I had been shot, I had completely torn my hamstring. I was in complete shock as I lay on the ground. As the pain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So I was basically on my own. I edited a highlight real, sent it out, and began to try to get in contact with coaches. I had been quite successful in high school, earning All State awards for both offence and defense, but had no idea how I would compare to football players at the collegiate level. I would come to find out that I was very behind in the recruiting process. Most school had already handed out scholarships and the ones who hadn t were not interested in me. With no offers, I was very discouraged and felt like giving up on the thought of playing in college. But rather than give up, I branched out and began to try to get in contact with schools out of state. I looked as far away as Montana, to Connecticut, to California. I truly had nothing to lose in my pursuit of my dream. I began to focus more on California schools, because of how much I loved California. Then, out of nowhere, Azusa Pacific University, a small D2 school calls me and tells me they are very interested in me and want me to visit. After telling my uncle of the news, he immediately picked me up from school and drove me out to California, where I would have my first official visit to a university. To most, this was nothing, but to me it was the world. I loved the campus, the people, and the school. Although they were not going to offer me a scholarship, I felt confident that this is where I wanted to go. I applied, got accepted, and planned to begin attending school the following fall. ... • 35. Ejection Passenger Vehicles Prevent ejection Passenger vehicles are designed to keep people inside the vehicle where they can be protected. People thrown from a vehicle are four times more likely to be killed than those who stayed inside. One of the most common myths about safety belt use is that you are better off being thrown clear of a crash. Statistics prove otherwise. Contact the body at the strongest parts of its structure: For an older child or adult, these parts are the hips and shoulders. For an infant and young children, there is really no part strong enough, so the child restraint supports the entire body to avoid stress on any one part. Spread forces over a wide area of the body putting less stress on any one part. Allow the body to slowly ride down the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
