Comparison Essay On My Truck
My car and my truck are complete opposites of each other on paper, but there are some similarities
they share. The truck is a blue 1974 Chevy C10, and the car is a red 1998 Chevy Cavalier. In my
opinion my car is safer, but the truck is cooler. I will be contrasting the body styles, the safety features,
and the technical differences. I will also be comparing the basic features. First of all, the body styles
are completely different. Well, the truck has a blue body with a body on frame type of construction. It
also has a two piece body, the cab and the bed. The car has a small, red, stream line body designed for
aerodynamics. It has a uni body design, meaning the body and the frame is one thing. body on frame
means that the body sits on the frame and is removable. Secondly, the safety features on the car are
vastly superior to the ones on the truck. The car has breaking points all over its body, so that in a
wreck it will be damaged worse to soften the impact. The truck just has a rigid steel body designed to
stay intact, while that s better for repairs, it s not better for injuries. My car also has airbags, anti lock
brakes, and a three point seat belt. The truck has a two point seatbelt also known as a lap belt. The car
is remarkably safer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The V shape helps with making the engine smaller while keeping the same amount of power and
torque, while the truck has an inline 6 cylinder, meaning the cylinders are in a straight line making just
a little bit more power and torque than just a regular V6 . The car is fuel injected indicating that the
fuel in injected into the engine on start up and allows it to make better performance. The truck has a
carburetor, helping it to put fuel in the

Bunkering In Nigeria Essay
The Political Economy Of Illegal Bunkering In Nigeria
By
Kòmbò Mason Braide (PhD)
Port Harcourt, Nigeria
Demonise Diabolise:
The Niger Delta has been a source of illicit international business deals (like the trans Atlantic slave
trade), as far back as the 15th century. Today a new form of syndicated criminal proclivity is
threatening the very foundations of Nigeria s petroleum industry, and by extension, the Nigerian
economy, as well as putting tremendous pressure on Chief (General) Olusegun Obasanjo. That
problem is the illegal bunkering of crude oil and/or its derivatives.
The term bunkering , (whether legal or illegal) has been thoroughly abused, demonised, and misused
in Nigerian parlance, so much so that the mere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the criminalisation of bunkering operations, the unstable, inadequate, and unreliable
domestic refining capacity, and a miasma of simplistically conceived national energy policies, among
several other reasons, account for this unique anomaly in Nigeria. Actually, ships prefer not to come to
Nigeria and bunker because of the high port charges, related miscellaneous illegalities, called levies ,
and official extortions like mandatory but illegal military task force approvals .
The Origins Of A Dysfunction:
Before 1973, petroleum products pricing was not uniform in Nigeria. The retail prices of petroleum
products were dependent on the point of sale, relative to the only primary distribution depot then, at
the Shell BP Refinery, Alesa Eleme, near Okrika, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In October 1973, the military dictatorship of General Yakubu Gowon decreed uniform pricing of
refined petroleum products for the Nigerian market. Subsequently, the Petroleum Equalisation Fund
(PEF) Decree No. 9 of 1975 was promulgated. To date, it provides for the uniform pricing of all
petroleum products throughout Nigeria, irrespective of distance from point of production. The Board

Values Of Christianity And Paganism In The Wanderer
Most scholars think The Wanderer first appeared as a piece of oral poetry during the 5th or 6th
century, a time when the Germanic Pagan culture of Anglo Saxon England was undergoing a
conversion to Christianity. It contains traces of both traditional Germanic warrior culture and of a
Christian value system. The speaker for much of the poem is a warrior who has had to go into exile
after the slaughter of his lord and relatives in battle. Now, he contemplates what the experience of the
exile teaches him about life.
For most of the poem, the speaker expresses traditional Germanic beliefs about how a wise man
should act, the inevitability of death, and mankind s inability to change his fate. The poem is
bookended, though, by the Christian idea of the possibility of God s favor and grace, which the
speaker holds up as the only possible refuge from all the misery he witnesses. The relationship
between fate in Old English, wyrd and God s grace is not clear in the poem; the presence of both
might be evidence of The Wanderer s position at the meeting point of Christianity and Paganism.
The Wanderer is both a lament for all the things the speaker and people more generally have lost, and
also a reflection on what wise men learn from their life experiences. With this dynamic duo, The
Wanderer combines parts of two traditional genres of Old English poetry: the elegy, or lament, and the
wisdom poem. These two genres aren t unrelated, since Anglo Saxon poets believed that

Essay on The Theme of Hypocrisy in The Catcher In The Rye
The Theme of Hypocrisy in The Catcher In The Rye
In the novel The Catcher In The Rye, the protagonist Holden Caulfield views his surroundings with
hypocrisy and contempt in an attempt to avoid the corruption of adulthood. Holden places himself
above the crowd because he believes everyone acts phony. In the process, Caulfield reveals his true
problem: his refusal to change.
Holden fears adulthood because it brings responsibilities and trouble. He believes all adults possess an
aurora of phoniness. His disgust of everyone around him reveals his fear of growing up. Holden
exhibits insecurity, so to make himself feel better, he exercises the power to condemn people for the
way they behave. Holden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trouble is, you wouldn t (Salinger 172). Because the aging process is inevitable, Holden abhors
the idea of growing up and becoming a phony himself.
Change is inevitable and is a constant phase that Holden cannot conceptualize. Holden s fear of
change can be exemplified by the Museum of Natural History. Like the museum, he wants everything
to be unchanging and as simple as possible. He talks about the immutable statues by saying, Certain
things they should stay the way they are... I know it s impossible, but it s too bad anyway (Salinger
122). By admitting his fear of change, Holden also reveals another important aspect of his life: his loss
of childhood innocence. The only thing he can talk about without contempt is kids. Allie, his deceased
brother, is continuously mentioned in the book, as well as the many interactions Holden has with
Phoebe. Although he is continuously deriding others around him, he humbly admits to his sister that
the only thing he could envision doing is saving kids, What I have to do I have to catch everybody if
they start to go over the cliff [...] I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it s crazy, but that s
the only thing I d like to be (Salinger 173). Holden s love for kids is the only

Modernism And Postmodernism
Modernism is very troublesome to define with clarity because of the fact that the term revolves around
various genres of movements be it artistic or philosophical. Nonetheless, there are some primary
beliefs of the Modernist genres that appeal in someway or the other to the various movements and also
the writers.
Modernism in general can broadly be described as the deviation from the ancient and classic manner .
(Johnson, J., The New Royal and Universal English Dictionary, Millard, 1763). It is the radical
movement away from the past in search of new styles of expression. It refers to a reforming
movement away from the traditional forms in various fields like architecture, art, music, and literature
during the late 19th century and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1997.)
As post modernism was a direct reaction to modernism, the two along with their respective theorists
often criticize each other and often justify their views in various debates and discourses.
Habermas and the Unfinished Project of Modernity is a collection of essays, which show us the
discourse between modernism and Post modernism. Jürgen Habermas is a German social theorist who
is also a strong defender of modernity. He vigorously counteracts various criticisms made by post
modernist theorists on modernism. Many intellectuals in the modern day have become skeptical about
the emancipatory potential of modernity but Habermas still believes and continues to insist on the
idealistic utopian potential of modernity as the child of enlightenment . As modernism take has
influences from democracy and reason, Habermas sees it as an unfinished project. By this Habermas is
trying to state that there is still so much to be done in the domain of modernism before contemplating
a move to the post modern world.
Marx influenced Habermas as he had an association with the Frankfurt School of social thought, but
nonetheless believed that Marx s views needed to be thoroughly changed in order to make them
genuinely contemporary and modern. Considering this, Habermas came up with two important
theories namely The Theory of Communication, and The Theory of Rationalization of System and
Life world. In his theory of communication, Habermas assigns himself to redefine the Marxian

Theme Of The Metamorrphosis And It s A Wonderful Life
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life, directed by Francis Copra,
don t seem to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature classes,
and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of
unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosis and It s a
Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation where
they see what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys they went
through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences. George s transformation in It s a
Wonderful Life starts with James Steward s character George s unhappiness. His job, which he never
wanted to get stuck with in the first place, is going bad, and he feels like nothing he does makes any
difference. He is about to get blamed for something he didn t do and is backed into a corner. This is
when George s transformation begins. His unhappiness is compounded when his business is failing
and he is blamed. He is threatened with prison and ruin. He is unable to keep it together for Christmas
Eve. He sees his life as a life of sacrifice for his friends, family, and the good of the town, and he sees
it as all for nothing. All his efforts are leading to his ruin. When he goes home after the money is
missing, and after realizing all the implications that are attached to that, the stress is compounded by
his family. His daughter is sick, the piano is playing the same thing over and over. He is bombarded
with questions and the problems pile up until he loses his temper. He feels that he has the weight of
the world on his shoulders and it is all crashing down. Nothing he does is good enough, and nothing
he has done would stop him from going to prison if he couldn t come up with money. That is when he
remembers his life insurance. If he died the bank would be taken care of and his family would be
taken care of. If he died he wouldn t be stuck in the same old town, with all the responsibility. He
stands on the bridge ready to jump and wishes he had never been born, He gets his wish and is shown
what life would be like

The Right to Bear Arms Essay
The Right to Bear Arms How many of us want the U.S. government to have the right to tell us what to
do, and when w can do it. There are probably not many who would agree that the government should
have that right. Though having gun control laws is not to that extreme, some would say it is the first
step. Growing up in a small town, and also growing up with guns my whole life I was one of those
people who did not want gun control laws. Then after reading two articles that discussed this topic I
found that I have been ignorant about this subject. I read the articles that discussed gun control by J.
Warren Cassidy and Nan Desuka. In the first article The Case for Firearms by J. Warren Cassidy, the

Desuka also argues that owning a handgun is not protected under the Second Amendment The Second
Amendment may be fairly paraphrased thus : Because an organized militia is necessary to the security
of the State, the people have the right to possess weapons. But the owners of handguns are not
members of a well regulated militia ( 424). In this essay the author is banning of some handguns. After
reading each article and analyzing them, I found the Desuka essay to be a better composed essay for
several reasons. The first reason the Desuka essay is more effective than Cassidy is, because Desuka
tends to be more of a believable authority than does Cassidy. Cassidy at the time of the essay was the
NRA S ( National Rifle Association ) executive vise president. The NRA is the biggest advocate for
the right to bear arms. In his essay, Cassidy seems to be more involved in trying to sell memberships
for the NRA than trying to show why there shouldn t be any gun control laws: There are better ways to
advance our society than to excuse criminal behavior. The NRA initiated the first hunter safety
program, which has trained millions of young hunters. We are the shooting sport s leading safety
organization, with more than 26,000 certified instructors training 750,000 students, and trainers last

The Microsoft Monopoly Essay
The Microsoft Monopoly
I. Introduction
United States vs. Microsoft is one the largest, most controversial antitrust lawsuits in American
history. Many claim the government is wrongly punishing Microsoft for being innovative and
successful, arguing that Windows dominates the market because of the product s popularity, not
because of malpractice by the parent company. Others argue in favor of the government, claiming that
Microsoft s practices conflict with the free market ideal. There are many arguments for both sides of
the lawsuit, but what the case really comes down to is this: does the government have the right to
interfere in today s marketplace? Or is Microsoft violating laws that are rightfully imposed by the
government? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

another operating system, DR DOS, was released by a company called Digital Research. Critics claim
that this operating system never had a chance at gaining a fair share of the market because Microsoft
deliberately slowed DR DOS s sales by announcing a better version of MS DOS was on its way
(Newman).
Windows, a program that was created in 1983, but did not change the market significantly until 1990,
has grown to control 94.1% of the operating system market (Newman). This has required other
companies in the software industry to make all of their applications Windows compatible. Critics
claim that Microsoft systematically eliminated all competition of other operating systems and software
manufacturers. Microsoft also controls a large part of the software industry. According to sales from
April 2002, Microsoft sold 89% of office software to consumers (Washington Post). Microsoft
bundles these applications with the Windows operating system, which is, according to them, an
effective technique. Critics assert that this forces other makers of office software, like Corel, to lose
business, because consumers will not buy another application if one is already pre installed. Critics
point to the proposed 1995 merger between Microsoft and Inuit which ultimately failed. Inuit is the
maker of the best selling money management

The Importance Of Flag Burning In The United States
There has been a lot of controversy weather during the American flag is right or not. In this certain

people feel it s wrong to burn the country s flag, others say it isn t since it is protected by the first

high court ruled that flag burning was protected under the constitution and you will not get arrested if
you participate in this. This part of the first amendment has been brought up many times because many
people have different stand points. In both cases Texas v. Johnson in 1989, and US v. Eichmann in
1990 the Supreme Court ruled that flag burning was a form of symbolic speech protected by the First
Amendment. The ruling came after an appeal from Gregory Johnson, who had been convicted by a

A Report On Solar Thermal Energy
Solar Thermal Energy
Introduction
Solar thermal technology uses the sun s energy, instead of fossil fuels, to get cheap, environmentally
friendly thermal energy. This energy is employed to heat water or different fluids, and can also power
solar cooling systems. Solar thermal systems vary from solar PV systems that generate electricity
instead of heat.
World Solar Market
The world has giant solar energy resources that haven t been greatly used so far. Alternative energy
presently accounts for a tiny share of world primary energy consumption, however its use is projected
to extend powerfully over the outlook amount to 2030.
The highest solar resource potential per unit surface area is within the Red Sea area. Australia
conjointly has higher incident alternative energy per unit area than the other continent within the
world. However, the distribution of solar energy use amongst countries reflects government policy
settings that encourage its use, rather than resource availability.
Australia receives a mean of 58 million PJ of radiation per annum, close to 10,000 times larger than its
total energy consumption of 5772 PJ in 2007 08. In theory, then, if only 0.1 per cent of the incoming

Basic Bargain Analysis
The term basic bargain became a relevant term in American during 1947 to 1975 better known as the
Great Prosperity. The country was providing the workers with enough money to buy what they had
produced. This bargain wanted to make sure that the pay of the workers coincided with their output
(p51). It was during this time that mass production and mass consumption went hand in hand. This
was also a time that brought the nation to more than halfway to perfect equality (p43). One might say
that the term basic bargain was one greatly understood by Henry Ford. He was able to understand that
those who work are also those who buy. Being able to contribute to the cycle of buying the goods and
services that others produce, is the main reason Ford increased his assembly line workers pay to five
dollars per eight hour day. He was also able to understand that if those employees earnings were not

The problem that halted the growth of the economy is not the lack of jobs but the little pay that is
received to do these jobs. There will be a cycle that comes where there are plenty of jobs and then
times where the jobs are scaries, but again that is not the issue. The issue occurs when Americans have
to take those jobs but accept a lower pay from what they were making before. We see many people
going to college and making out on Wall Street, but while they are making their share of the ecomoinc
growth, those are the bottom are struggling. If we were able to regrow the economic and redistrube
this wealth we can invest the money into educational programs, pubic universities, job training, and

The Canterbury Tales Research Paper
Timeless tales are treasures of our lifetime. We draw lessons from the works of literature that reflect
our experiences. Through reading stories we could find connections that may or may not justify our
actions. Stories that we could relate to may give us an idea on how we perceive our actions, which
questions our view on morality as well. In The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, there is a tale
that covers how we must be careful of the things that we will say, because our words are as powerful
as a sword. The Manciple s Tale of the Crow narrates the story of Phoebus. Phoebus possesses the
ideal characteristics of a man handsome, brave, and talented. He has a pet, a white crow that speaks
and sings more beautifully than a nightingale. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given the time when this works are written, people then have a very good sense of their religion,
upholding the standards of their time. In contrast, people committed acts that are considered immoral,
like adultery. In this tale the storyteller built the idea that one should not tell the truth if it only hurts
the other, which could possibly worsen the situation.
Another issue that is associated in this tale is how women are perceived during that time. Phoebus
caged his wife because he is jealous. This situation may be the reason why his wife had an affair.
Nonetheless, this poses inequality in terms of how women are treated.
As a whole, this tale represents the justification of a certain act given its possible outcomes. In which
in the story, the crow should have not told Phoebus the truth for it will only worsen the situation. One
must critically examine the situation whether a response should be established immediately.
The Canterbury Tales may be written for us to realize the different things that are around us. This
collection of tales may awaken a part of our minds that is unconscious a part that could be triggered
through the use of common themes with underlying

Animal Testing in Drug Industry
Animal Testing in Drug Industry: Is It Appropriate or Not?
Millions of people were killed by incurable diseases, such as smallpox, rabies, et cetera before the
18th century due to lack of knowledge in developing drugs and vaccine at that time. People caught by
the diseases were hopeless because they knew that no one could help them. In the mid 1800s, animal
testing was introduced to drug industry by Edward Jenner (Trueman, 2002). His brilliant discovery in
developing smallpox vaccine by using animals helped a lot of people and gave hope to the medical
field that incurable diseases were not incurable anymore. Although he was not the first man to use
animal in experiments, his success made animal testing become commonly used in drug ... Show more

Verbal language is not the only means of communication. We can notice a person s emotions without
him saying anything because of non verbal language or body language he expressed. If we can
examine body language in human, then we are also able to observe non verbal language of animals. In
accordance to Charles Darwin in his book, The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals,
many of the non verbal reactions of human in expressing emotions are identical with those of animals
(Darwin, 1873). Thus, there is no reason that one, especially a scientist who has conducted a lot of
experiments with animals, does not know whether an animal is suffering from mental pain or not. As
psychological pains caused by animal testing offends the tested animals welfare, alternative methods
must be used to replace animal testing.
Animal testing not only afflicts animals being used, but also our society. A lot of harsh protests and
terrorism have been done against animal testing. Those actions have caused many public losses.
Plenty of innocent people have died; many unrelated private companies have been accidentally
involved in the damaging acts, and numerous public facilitations have been ruined in those actions
which are usually conducted by animal lovers organizations. Animal Liberation Front (ALF) is one of
the most extreme animal rights advocate organizations. According to FBI, ALF has been causing
1,200 vicious acts since 1900 and millions of dollar

Globalization And Mass Migration Is A Diverse And Dynamic...
Globalisation and mass migration means that Australia is a diverse and dynamic place. In Australia,
many refugee background students experience difficulties adjusting to their new environment and
school settings. The increasing diversity in Australian schools present various challenges for not only
refugee students and their learning experiences, but for teachers as well. Therefore, the consideration
and evaluation of educational research is crucial, so that educational practices and pedagogies are
informed by research for the benefit of students learning and development. With the increase of
refugee background students there has been a need for the implementation and evaluation of strategies
and policies in order to establish appropriate ways to engage with the complex issues around refugee
background students transition to education. This can be seen through the creation of the Refugee
Action Support Program (RAS) that was designed to provide tutoring to students from refugee
backgrounds in Western Sydney schools. In regards to educational policy, the Multicultural
Educational Policy aims to respond to the cultural diversity of New South Wales by committing
schools to providing opportunities that enable all students to achieve equitable education and social
outcomes ( Multicultural Education Policy, 2016). Such programs and policies reinforce that Australia
recognises the increasing cultural diversity and needs of refugee background students in Australian
schools. In

The Story Of An Hour And The Story Of An Hour
Women are taught from a young age that marriage is the end all be all in happiness, in the short story
The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin and the drama Poof! by Lynn Nottage, we learn that it is not
always the case. Mrs. Mallard from The Story of an Hour and Loureen from Poof! are different
characteristically, story wise, and time wise, but share a similar plight. Two women tied down to men
whom they no longer love and a life they no longer feel is theirs. Unlike widows in happy marriages
Loureen and Mrs., Mallard discover newfound freedom in their respective husband s deaths. Both
stories explore stereotypical housewives who serve their husbands with un stereotypical reactions to

Popular opinion credits media with great power to shape not only what the average individual thinks
about, but also how they think about those subjects. This paper examines research in the fields of
Political Science, Psychology, Economics, and Communications to determine what, if any, effect
media has on American politics. An individual s perception of what is important is influenced by the

Regardless of the methodology used, studies support the finding that the more prominent an issue is in
the media, the higher the perceived level of importance by the general public. Thus, the subtle
influence of public opinion toward a candidate or platform can be achieved by increased coverage of
topics where the candidate has succeeded (or failed). The candidate need not be directly named in the
coverage for the perception of their ability to be effected. Mention of a subject in the media on a daily
basis over a period of a month can be more powerful than one urgently worded message. Historical
Overview In the early 1900 s, scholars discounted the influence media had on an individual s political
choices as being minimal (Entman, 1989). The primary method for media contact during this time was
newspapers and magazines, and the presentation of news was primarily confined to clearly defined
presentation of fact or opinion. Technology was minimal, so the time between an event s occurrence
and the media s coverage reaching an individual could range from days to months, depending on
distance and available delivery methods. Over the years, communication techniques have become

In Salman Rushdie s hands, political satire and caricature easily administer with fairy tale fights of

magic realism popularized by Salman Rushdie inclined a large number of Indian novels. According to

Rushdie s use of magic realism as a narrative technique is very pertinent as he portrays the
postcolonial life in his novel. The Magic realism can therefore be seen as a contrivance binding Indian
culture of the past to the contemporary multicultural interface. Rushdie used fantasy as a method of
producing intensified images of reality. He uses this intensified images of reality in Midnight s

Memory In Frankenstein
Whether good or bad, past memories can either motivate people to change and grow or cause people
to remain stagnant. This is especially true for Madame Ranevsky, Lopakhin, and Firs from The Cherry
Orchard, by Anton Chekhov. The Cherry Orchard is a comedic play about a widow, Madame
Ranevsky, who is in the process of losing her beloved cherry orchard due to the debt that she has
collected following the emancipation of the serfs in 1861. Madame Ranevsky, Lopakhin, and Firs all
have different memories of the past. Both Madame Ranevsky and Firs have good memories of the past

hand, has bad memories of the past because of being born into a family ... Show more content on

Madame Ranevsky does not want to cut down the orchard because of the memories it holds, regarding
her parents and childhood. Madame Ranevsky s shows her fondness for the estate when she points out
that her life would have no meaning if it were sold. In other words, the good memories memories of
her pure and happy childhood (12) is what is keeps Madame Ranevsky from accepting Lophakin s
plan. She feels that her memories would be ruined if the orchard is destroyed. In fact, Madame
Ranevsky acknowledges this attachment to orchard due to the good memories. She tells Lopakhin:
Oh! If only I could free my neck and shoulders from the stone that weighs them down! If only I could
forget my past! (12). Madame Ranevsky makes the point that her feelings regarding the past is
weighing her down and preventing her from accepting Lophakin s plan, so her debts can be relieved.
The past that Madame Ranevsky is referring to is her happy childhood memories at the orchard.
Hence, Madame Ranevsky s happy childhood memories attach her to the orchard and makes her not
want to lose it. Because of this conundrum, Madame Ranevsky essentially does not think about
anything else throughout the play b besides whether or not the orchard is going to be sold. Instead of
focusing on ways she could move on or try to save the

Special Education Inclusion
Parents never want to hear that their child has a life altering disability that will require additional
assistance with special services. Roughly thirteen percent of public school students are receiving
special education services. Barbara Boroson, a Scholastic author on Autism Spectrum Disorder, asks
the special education inclusion population, How has education evolved from exclusion to inclusion
(Boroson, 2017). The issues with special education inclusion have been going unnoticed for many
years and now is the time for a change. Special education inclusion is an issue because it bears against
social and educational values. People all around the world have tried to fix these issues, but their
attempts have been unsuccessful. They have tried making amendments to include special needs
students in general classrooms. They have also tried to create ways to individualize criteria for each
student. These attempted solutions have not created a final answer but led us to find the perfect way to
solve inclusion s problem.
The problem with special education inclusion is involved in the amount of education each student is
receiving. Putting students with special needs into a general education classroom is minimizing how
much they are actually learning. Distractions that come with special needs kids are not allowing other
students to fully participate and listen in class. Teachers can only do so much with what their school
districts allow, which leads to another problem.

What Is The Theme Of Not Without My Daughter By Betty...
The novel Not Without My Daughter is a book by Betty Mahmoody which gives us an insight into the
hard and tainted life the author herself went through being a wife and mother in a stringent patriarchal
society in which a woman is reprimanded and punished for having a voice. The social experiences,
where two societies meet and unite in the ties of marriage are delineated in various scholarly works.
One such work which concentrates on the social experiences in connection to marriage is the book

At the point when a person fitting in with a Western society weds a person who has experienced
childhood in Islamic society, both the people try to adjust to each other s culture. Case in point in the
book Not Without My Daughter, Betty who was brought up in Western society tries to absorb into the
way of life of her Iranian spouse. She goes with her spouse to Iran to spend a two week excursion
there. As she is mindful of the way that a lady is required to cover her head in Iran, she utilizes a scarf
to cover her head even before coming to Iran. She likewise permits her little girl to be named Mahtob,
which was an Iranian name. Through these endeavors, Betty tries to turn into a piece of the way of life
to which her spouse had a place. Betty s marriage was a union of Western society and Islamic society.
Albeit there were numerous distinctions in the way of life of Betty and her spouse Moody, they lived
agreeably after their marriage. Living in America, Betty and Moody drove an upbeat and placated
wedded life. In a marriage where the life partners fit in with diverse societies, it is critical that every
mate adjusts and comprehend the way of life of other companion. In a house where two societies exist,
the kids are raised in a social domain which is affected by the way of life of the mother and father. The
conduct and thinking about the youngsters show the impact of both the way of life. The meeting of
two societies in a marriage has beneficial outcomes and negative impacts. It relies on the life partners

Dear Diary
I am standing alone in a lake. The water is still, and there is no one with me nothing containing any
life... and yet I still feel like something is observing me. I can t hear anything or see through the thick
blanket of fog that carries an air of melancholy across the marsh. I am standing alone in a lake.
Until I open my eyes.
Tranquillity leaves me and I am transported to a place where there is no adequation; where hierarchy

hunched, avoiding any eye contact my desperate attempts to deter the despot for one day at least.
Despite my efforts, there was no escape, as seemingly within the second of having that naively
optimistic thought, a cruel, callous voice demanded I surrender my broach. Fear spiked, as it always
did, but with it came something else, an alien emotion ... Looking back now, I see that it must have
been the cumulative effect of months of torment that brought me to the realisation that at this point I
had reached the nadir of my life. Deriding cackles pierced my ears and this time I recognised the
emotion, fury. It burned through my veins, along with the memories of the past to form a feeling of
overwhelming power. I met the daggers that would usually invoke terror, and calmly, I said No.

Factors That Affect The Activity Of Amylase
Introduction
According to Oxford Dictionary, metabolism is the set of chemical processes that occur within a living
organism in order to maintain life. From these processes, organisms are allowed to develop and
reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. Metabolism is usually divided
into two categories, which are catabolism breaks down large molecules and anabolism uses the energy
to construct components of cells. The role of metabolism is to deploy starch or lipids stored in
endosperm so the germination can take place. Thus, the energy was formed (catabolic) and new plant
material as the seed germinates was synthesised (anabolic). The aim of the experiment was to
enucleate amylase from barley and utilizing it for the catalyst of a biochemical reaction thus
investigating throughout seed sprout the activity of amylase. Before the experiment, it is hypothesized
that the higher the activity of amylase, the higher the sprout rate of seed. How high and radicle change
in length can be used to observe this case. Therefore, when Benedict s test is carried out, the solution
is still blue for the inactive seed and the concentration of brick red precipitate plants growing from
seeds.
Method
To prepare for extracting amylase from germinating barley seeds, used mortar and pestle to grind 10
grains into a fine paste and added 10ml of buffer, to enucleate the amylase into solution. Then filtered
the extract into a 100ml beaker, and recorded the volume.

  • 2. Comparison Essay On My Truck My car and my truck are complete opposites of each other on paper, but there are some similarities they share. The truck is a blue 1974 Chevy C10, and the car is a red 1998 Chevy Cavalier. In my opinion my car is safer, but the truck is cooler. I will be contrasting the body styles, the safety features, and the technical differences. I will also be comparing the basic features. First of all, the body styles are completely different. Well, the truck has a blue body with a body on frame type of construction. It also has a two piece body, the cab and the bed. The car has a small, red, stream line body designed for aerodynamics. It has a uni body design, meaning the body and the frame is one thing. body on frame means that the body sits on the frame and is removable. Secondly, the safety features on the car are vastly superior to the ones on the truck. The car has breaking points all over its body, so that in a wreck it will be damaged worse to soften the impact. The truck just has a rigid steel body designed to stay intact, while that s better for repairs, it s not better for injuries. My car also has airbags, anti lock brakes, and a three point seat belt. The truck has a two point seatbelt also known as a lap belt. The car is remarkably safer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The V shape helps with making the engine smaller while keeping the same amount of power and torque, while the truck has an inline 6 cylinder, meaning the cylinders are in a straight line making just a little bit more power and torque than just a regular V6 . The car is fuel injected indicating that the fuel in injected into the engine on start up and allows it to make better performance. The truck has a carburetor, helping it to put fuel in the ... • 3. Bunkering In Nigeria Essay The Political Economy Of Illegal Bunkering In Nigeria By Kòmbò Mason Braide (PhD) Port Harcourt, Nigeria Demonise Diabolise: The Niger Delta has been a source of illicit international business deals (like the trans Atlantic slave trade), as far back as the 15th century. Today a new form of syndicated criminal proclivity is threatening the very foundations of Nigeria s petroleum industry, and by extension, the Nigerian economy, as well as putting tremendous pressure on Chief (General) Olusegun Obasanjo. That problem is the illegal bunkering of crude oil and/or its derivatives. The term bunkering , (whether legal or illegal) has been thoroughly abused, demonised, and misused in Nigerian parlance, so much so that the mere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the criminalisation of bunkering operations, the unstable, inadequate, and unreliable domestic refining capacity, and a miasma of simplistically conceived national energy policies, among several other reasons, account for this unique anomaly in Nigeria. Actually, ships prefer not to come to Nigeria and bunker because of the high port charges, related miscellaneous illegalities, called levies , and official extortions like mandatory but illegal military task force approvals . The Origins Of A Dysfunction: Before 1973, petroleum products pricing was not uniform in Nigeria. The retail prices of petroleum products were dependent on the point of sale, relative to the only primary distribution depot then, at the Shell BP Refinery, Alesa Eleme, near Okrika, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In October 1973, the military dictatorship of General Yakubu Gowon decreed uniform pricing of refined petroleum products for the Nigerian market. Subsequently, the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF) Decree No. 9 of 1975 was promulgated. To date, it provides for the uniform pricing of all petroleum products throughout Nigeria, irrespective of distance from point of production. The Board of the Petroleum ... • 4. Values Of Christianity And Paganism In The Wanderer Most scholars think The Wanderer first appeared as a piece of oral poetry during the 5th or 6th century, a time when the Germanic Pagan culture of Anglo Saxon England was undergoing a conversion to Christianity. It contains traces of both traditional Germanic warrior culture and of a Christian value system. The speaker for much of the poem is a warrior who has had to go into exile after the slaughter of his lord and relatives in battle. Now, he contemplates what the experience of the exile teaches him about life. For most of the poem, the speaker expresses traditional Germanic beliefs about how a wise man should act, the inevitability of death, and mankind s inability to change his fate. The poem is bookended, though, by the Christian idea of the possibility of God s favor and grace, which the speaker holds up as the only possible refuge from all the misery he witnesses. The relationship between fate in Old English, wyrd and God s grace is not clear in the poem; the presence of both might be evidence of The Wanderer s position at the meeting point of Christianity and Paganism. The Wanderer is both a lament for all the things the speaker and people more generally have lost, and also a reflection on what wise men learn from their life experiences. With this dynamic duo, The Wanderer combines parts of two traditional genres of Old English poetry: the elegy, or lament, and the wisdom poem. These two genres aren t unrelated, since Anglo Saxon poets believed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay on The Theme of Hypocrisy in The Catcher In The Rye The Theme of Hypocrisy in The Catcher In The Rye In the novel The Catcher In The Rye, the protagonist Holden Caulfield views his surroundings with hypocrisy and contempt in an attempt to avoid the corruption of adulthood. Holden places himself above the crowd because he believes everyone acts phony. In the process, Caulfield reveals his true problem: his refusal to change. Holden fears adulthood because it brings responsibilities and trouble. He believes all adults possess an aurora of phoniness. His disgust of everyone around him reveals his fear of growing up. Holden exhibits insecurity, so to make himself feel better, he exercises the power to condemn people for the way they behave. Holden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trouble is, you wouldn t (Salinger 172). Because the aging process is inevitable, Holden abhors the idea of growing up and becoming a phony himself. Change is inevitable and is a constant phase that Holden cannot conceptualize. Holden s fear of change can be exemplified by the Museum of Natural History. Like the museum, he wants everything to be unchanging and as simple as possible. He talks about the immutable statues by saying, Certain things they should stay the way they are... I know it s impossible, but it s too bad anyway (Salinger 122). By admitting his fear of change, Holden also reveals another important aspect of his life: his loss of childhood innocence. The only thing he can talk about without contempt is kids. Allie, his deceased brother, is continuously mentioned in the book, as well as the many interactions Holden has with Phoebe. Although he is continuously deriding others around him, he humbly admits to his sister that the only thing he could envision doing is saving kids, What I have to do I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff [...] I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it s crazy, but that s the only thing I d like to be (Salinger 173). Holden s love for kids is the only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Modernism And Postmodernism Modernism is very troublesome to define with clarity because of the fact that the term revolves around various genres of movements be it artistic or philosophical. Nonetheless, there are some primary beliefs of the Modernist genres that appeal in someway or the other to the various movements and also the writers. Modernism in general can broadly be described as the deviation from the ancient and classic manner . (Johnson, J., The New Royal and Universal English Dictionary, Millard, 1763). It is the radical movement away from the past in search of new styles of expression. It refers to a reforming movement away from the traditional forms in various fields like architecture, art, music, and literature during the late 19th century and the ... As post modernism was a direct reaction to modernism, the two along with their respective theorists often criticize each other and often justify their views in various debates and discourses. Habermas and the Unfinished Project of Modernity is a collection of essays, which show us the discourse between modernism and Post modernism. Jürgen Habermas is a German social theorist who is also a strong defender of modernity. He vigorously counteracts various criticisms made by post modernist theorists on modernism. Many intellectuals in the modern day have become skeptical about the emancipatory potential of modernity but Habermas still believes and continues to insist on the idealistic utopian potential of modernity as the child of enlightenment . As modernism take has influences from democracy and reason, Habermas sees it as an unfinished project. By this Habermas is trying to state that there is still so much to be done in the domain of modernism before contemplating a move to the post modern world. Marx influenced Habermas as he had an association with the Frankfurt School of social thought, but nonetheless believed that Marx s views needed to be thoroughly changed in order to make them genuinely contemporary and modern. Considering this, Habermas came up with two important theories namely The Theory of Communication, and The Theory of Rationalization of System and Life world. • 8. Theme Of The Metamorrphosis And It s A Wonderful Life The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life, directed by Francis Copra, don t seem to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature classes, and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosis and It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation where they see what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys they went through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences. George s transformation in It s a Wonderful Life starts with James Steward s character George s unhappiness. His job, which he never wanted to get stuck with in the first place, is going bad, and he feels like nothing he does makes any difference. He is about to get blamed for something he didn t do and is backed into a corner. This is when George s transformation begins. His unhappiness is compounded when his business is failing and he is blamed. He is threatened with prison and ruin. He is unable to keep it together for Christmas Eve. He sees his life as a life of sacrifice for his friends, family, and the good of the town, and he sees it as all for nothing. All his efforts are leading to his ruin. When he goes home after the money is missing, and after realizing all the implications that are attached to that, the stress is compounded by his family. His daughter is sick, the piano is playing the same thing over and over. He is bombarded with questions and the problems pile up until he loses his temper. He feels that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and it is all crashing down. Nothing he does is good enough, and nothing he has done would stop him from going to prison if he couldn t come up with money. That is when he remembers his life insurance. If he died the bank would be taken care of and his family would be taken care of. If he died he wouldn t be stuck in the same old town, with all the responsibility. He stands on the bridge ready to jump and wishes he had never been born, He gets his wish and is shown what life would be like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are probably not many who would agree that the government should have that right. Though having gun control laws is not to that extreme, some would say it is the first step. Growing up in a small town, and also growing up with guns my whole life I was one of those people who did not want gun control laws. After reading each article and analyzing them, I found the Desuka essay to be a better composed essay for several reasons. The first reason the Desuka essay is more effective than Cassidy is, because Desuka tends to be more of a believable authority than does Cassidy. Cassidy at the time of the essay was the NRA S ( National Rifle Association ) executive vise president. The NRA is the biggest advocate for the right to bear arms. In his essay, Cassidy seems to be more involved in trying to sell memberships for the NRA than trying to show why there shouldn t be any gun control laws: There are better ways to advance our society than to excuse criminal behavior. The water is still, and there is no one with me nothing containing any life... and yet I still feel like something is observing me. I can t hear anything or see through the thick blanket of fog that carries an air of melancholy across the marsh. I am standing alone in a lake. Until I open my eyes. Tranquillity leaves me and I am transported to a place where there is no adequation; where hierarchy takes over and all beings abide by it. If you enter this place and you begin the journey deficiently, you will never be accepted into this complex community they call school. Date I gasped for air between sobs. I knew without a single doubt that there was not even a semblance of the most miniscule of smiles on my face but that I did, in fact, bear the dejected expression of a prisoner as he ambles towards the gallows. Scuttling innocently through the twisting corridors I bore the same expression; head down, shoulders hunched, avoiding any eye contact my desperate attempts to deter the despot for one day at least. Despite my efforts, there was no escape, as seemingly within the second of having that naively optimistic thought, a cruel, callous voice demanded I surrender my broach. Fear spiked, as it always did, but with it came something else, an alien emotion ... Looking back now, I see that it must have been the cumulative effect of months of torment that brought me to the realisation that at this point I had reached the nadir of my life. Deriding cackles pierced my ears and this time I recognised the emotion, fury. It burned through my veins, along with the memories of the past to form a feeling of overwhelming power. I met the daggers that would usually invoke terror, and calmly, I said No. Date With my newfound sense of worth the desire to exact some kind of revenge for being so subjugated was inexplicably tempting. • 30. Paranthropus Boisei Paranthropus boisei is also known as Australopithecus boisei. Paranthropus boisei lived in Eastern Africa in countries such as Ethiopia at the Konso and Omo River basin, Kenya at Koobi Fora, Chesowonja, and West Turkana, Tanzania at Olduvai Gorge and Peninj, and Malawi. Paranthropus boisei lived about 2.3 to 1.2 million years ago. Paranthropus boisei is also known as being the most robust of the robust australopithecines. Paranthropus boisei had human like features including a strong sagittal crest that assisted in chewing by having a large bottom and top jaw, with large molars and premolars. Paranthropus boisei also had flaring cheekbones and a cranial capacity that was 100 cc larger than in the last genus homo within the last one million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... KNM ER 406 was found in Koobi, Kenya in 1969 by Richard Leakey and H. Mutua and they said this finding was about 1.7 million years old. This finding was a complete adult male fossil finding. KNM ER 732 A was found in Koobi Fora, Kenya as well by Richard Leakey and H. Mutua, but in 1970. This finding was known to be 1.7 million years old as well and was a partial cranium of a female paranthropus boisei and gave more insight that there was sexual dimorphism in this early species. The finding OH 5 was nicknamed the Nutcracker Man, which was found in Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania in 1959 by Mary Leakey. This finding was 1.8 million years old and is the most famous finding. It was the complete cranium of a male. Peninj Mandible was a well preserved jaw that was found in Tanzania at the Lake Natron region by Kamoya Kimeu. There was a finding made in either 2010 or 2011 in Tanzania at Olduvia Gorge that composed of bone fragments such as the ulna, tibia, and femur that gave more information regarding the post cranial structure of paranthropus boisei. These findings helped prove that paranthropus boisei was sexually dimorphic, more ruggedly built, showed signed of bipedalism, and had some aboreal behaviors. After looking at many physical pictures and pictures of their skull, paranthropus boisei do have resemblance of human characteristics. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Factors That Affect The Activity Of Amylase Introduction According to Oxford Dictionary, metabolism is the set of chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life. From these processes, organisms are allowed to develop and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. Metabolism is usually divided into two categories, which are catabolism breaks down large molecules and anabolism uses the energy to construct components of cells. The role of metabolism is to deploy starch or lipids stored in endosperm so the germination can take place. Thus, the energy was formed (catabolic) and new plant material as the seed germinates was synthesised (anabolic). The aim of the experiment was to enucleate amylase from barley and utilizing it for the catalyst of a biochemical reaction thus investigating throughout seed sprout the activity of amylase. Before the experiment, it is hypothesized that the higher the activity of amylase, the higher the sprout rate of seed. How high and radicle change in length can be used to observe this case. Therefore, when Benedict s test is carried out, the solution is still blue for the inactive seed and the concentration of brick red precipitate plants growing from seeds. Method To prepare for extracting amylase from germinating barley seeds, used mortar and pestle to grind 10 grains into a fine paste and added 10ml of buffer, to enucleate the amylase into solution. Then filtered the extract into a 100ml beaker, and recorded the volume. 5 ml ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
