Essay on Fiat Chrysler
Case Questions 1. According to a major economics consulting firms, Fiat`s ВЁSouth American

Argentina, and Brazil is the biggest market, well ahead of its home country market. In 2011, with

suffered a steep decline rumors began to circulate that Marchionne might move Fiat headquarters

We found innovation, cost reduction and market conditions as key elements supporting a
successful internal strategy and strategic alliance and diversification to be among the most
widely applied strategies for a foreign market penetration and development, while fusions and
licenses were the least preferred. Conclusion: Lots and lots of question marks. It all depends on
how it goes. If Fiat can pacify Chrysler, if the integration of Fiat Chrysler works, if Americans
really buy smaller engine cars, if the new platforms prove successful, if they keep their position
in Brazil and manage to break into Russia and China, if Europe recovers. However, there are
good, solid reasons for hope of a better future. Dark clouds abound, but here and there, there are
rays of sunshine. They are well positioned in some key markets. They ve established a foothold
in North America. They have a big presence and are a player in markets all over the world

more fun than some of the competition and most owners are satisfied. Their new engines are

Samford is a community located in South East Queensland. The main districts in Samford are
Samford Valley and Samford Village. The area is located approximately 21 kilometres north west
of the Brisbane CBD. The Samford region is located in the local government area of the Moreton
Bay Regional Council. Samford has a relatively low population, as it is a small village centred
community, with plenty of green space and most residents choosing rural residential living
(Samford Futures 2011).
Samford has a sub tropical climate, with most of the rainfall occurring during the summer months,
from November to February. Samford is easily accessed from Brisbane by Samford Rd, which runs

Violance in Video Games Essay
Violence
Most of the time violence is considered as the worst when it comes to the bad effects of video
games. A scientific survey (Anderson Bushman, 2001) has found a connection between aggressive
behaviors and playing violent games where more the children play violent games, more tend be
aggressive in behavior. Not only that but also they are more likely to have aggressive feelings and
thoughts plus diminished aiding. It is said that the impact of playing violent games in children is
compounded by the intuitive/interactive nature of the games. Children are remunerated for being
more vicious or violent, most of the time in many games. The demonstration of violence is carried

Necessary Causes Of War
Permissive causes of war are those features of the international system which, while not actively
promoting war, nevertheless allow it to happen (Baylis et al 2002, p. 71). The lack of ungoverned
international system some believe is the root that causes war. There are reasonable arguments for
both.
It has also been found useful to distinguish between necessary and sufficient causes of war. A
necessary condition is one that must be present for it to occur if that condition is not present then
there will be no breakout of war. The existence of arms is a necessary condition of war because
without weapons no war can be fought. It is also necessary for humans to be in organized groups
states, tribes, ethnic groups, nations, or mechanisms for preventing it such as an effective world
government.
A sufficient cause of war is one that, if present, guarantees the occurrence of war. A is a
sufficient cause of B if B always occurs whenever A exists (Baylis et al 2002, p. 27). For example,
if two states hate each other and cannot tolerate co existence then that is a sufficient cause of war
between them. Cause of war can be sufficient without being necessary and vice versa.
Category of necessary and sufficient do not cover all the possible causes of war. There are
unpredictable causes of war that do not fall into these two categories such as a desire of a
statesman to annex territory belonging to neighboring states. As the theory of the war varies among
the leaders,

Should College Athletes Get paid
CaDerius Andrews Ms.Teague Eng.102 30 April 2014 Are college athlete s players or
employees? The idea of paying a college athlete appears to be outrageous to some. The thought of
giving someone money for something they have chosen to do may not appear to be fair. The
greatest concern is where to draw the line. Should the decision be based on the amount of money
and fame the program generates? Why should athletes be treated special and receive compensation
for their contribution to the school? One major factor is that athletes make numerous sacrifices
beyond that of a nonathletic student. Many athletes can t seek employment to help offset the
expenses of college because they are on the field or court for the majority of their day.... Show more

After all, it is the same player, same sport, just a different showground. They devote just as much
time and effort to the team sport as the pros in addition to balancing school and the requirements
of the curriculum. In all honesty this balancing act can be overwhelming and some students may
have family obligations as well, which poses an even greater challenge. College athletes are
exploited by their schools, which make millions of dollars off of them. The NCAA and
professional leagues can work together to institute a plan to compensate these athletes and
remedy all these problems. Student athletes need money just like any other college students, and
many of them need it even more. Many of these talented athletes come from a disadvantaged
background and do not have the financial support needed to sustain from home. They are driven
to do there very best to hopefully change their future and the lives of their love ones. Most
collegiate athletes receive injuries during his or her athletic career. There is an astonishing
750,000 injuries reported per year in the United States. Injuries are the worst part of being a

Socratic Dialectic
A friend of Socrates, Chaerephon, asked the Oracle of Delphi if there is anyone wiser than
Socrates. The goddess answered that there is not. (Plato, p. 50). Aware that he cannot claim
wisdom, but intrigued by the Oracle s answer, Socrates embarks on a journey to find someone
who is truly wise. The method he used to establish someone s wisdom or lack of it has been known
as the Socratic dialectic. Socratesdialectic technique, its aim and its method will be examined in
this paper. The Apology of Socrates by Plato, will be used as a case study to illustrate key points.
Upon hearing the Oracle s answer that no one is wiser than him, Socrates found the literal
interpretation difficult to comprehend. He decided to seek out people who have a ... Show more

And while his method might appear ruthless and hostile, it was essentially ethical in character.
Belief in a purely objective understanding of such concepts as justice, love, and virtue, and the self
knowledge that he encouraged, were the basis of his teachings.
He believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad;
correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Socrates was
not a believer in any specific metaphysical point of view, but he believed that he was appointed by
God to examine himself and others in order to discover who they really are. Thus, he claimed that
the highest goodness consists in the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral
understanding. Wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other
blessing, both to the individual and to the state . (Plato, p 62).
As previously stated, Socrates dialectic aims to determine whether an individual makes justifiable
claims to knowledge by using the method of cross examination in order to draw out a contradiction
or inconsistency in their claims. However, this is not the only aim of dialectic. The Socratic method
is also a means of conversing, developing a dialogue that aims to bring awareness to person s
ignorance of a subject. It aims to free other from ignorance, encourage them on their path to self
knowledge, assist then in leading good, virtuous life and ultimately

Party Systems in Latin America Essay
Party Systems in Latin America
This essay will compare and contrast the party systems of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay
according to Mainwaring and Shugart s Chapter 11 of Presidentialism and Democracy in Latin
America. First, I will discuss majority verses minority government; second, I will discuss the
number of relevant parties; third, I will discuss the level of party discipline with the parties.
In Presidential systems of government, the level of support for the president in congress, either
through a majority or coalitions, influences the success of the regime to get things done. The
amount of parties in a system indicates the likelihood the president will have a majority or be
forced to focus on forming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The President has strong proactive powers to counter this weakness.
In Uruguay, the President has historically been supported by a substantial amount of congress
rendering coalitions unnecessary. According to tale 11.1in Mainwaring and Shugart, the president
in Uruguay has had an average of 45.6% of the seats in the Lower House and 43.8% of the seats in
the upper house. This congressional composition is an ideal amount of support because it allows
checks and balances to work; yet, the president can successfully implement a program. The last
election in Uruguay did not yield this traditional composition. No party received a significant
majority. The votes were split three ways between the Blanco, the Colorado, and the EP
(Progressive Encounter). Whether or not this significant plurality trend will continue is unclear.
The president of Argentina has usually enjoyed a significant amount of support in congress from
his/her own party and coalitions. Mainwaring and Shugart s table11.1 shows Argentina President
to have an average support of 48.3% in the Lower House and 52% in the upper house. Including
coalition partners 49% in the Lower House and 52.0% in the upper house supports the president.
This kind of congressional composition has the ability to inhibit checks and balance by a minority
party. This is the extreme of winner take all politics, majority politics. In the last presidential

China s Scientific Revolution in the Tang and Song Dynasties
The scientific revolution was most notable in the Tang and Song Dynasties which covered a span of
three hundred years. Chinese scientist, doctors and mathematicians made great strides and
important advances in math, science, medicine and astronomy. Some of the inventions that were
made during this era are still represented in Chinese culture today. Among some of the earliest
scientific invention in these eras was the abacus, or what the Chinese called the shadow clock. This
was the world s first known calculator, and has remained one of Chinas greatest inventions. In his
article The Song Dynasty, Toni Zin explains, The scientific development in the Song Dynasty
ranked forefront in the world of the time. The world shaking China s three greatest inventions the
gun powder, compass, movable type printing were invented at that time, which altered the whole
world s civilized rate of progress. The abacus began to be used and had become the main
calculating tool since then. (Zin, pg 4). Gun powder was the greatest invention that the world has
ever known, and it was also one that has cost many lives. During the Song Dynasty, China trade a
lot with the west. This got gun powder in circulation around the world. At the time, no one had
ever seen anything like it. Some even feared it. Eventually, Europeans began to develop their own
gun powder based off of the Chinese designs. With the invention of gun powder came new
weapons. China is known for the first missile, which looked

The Lord of The Rings Universe
Dark, imposing, devious, powerful beyond measure, Sauron is evil personified in the Lord of
the Rings universe. He is the be all and end all when it comes to villiany in the Lord of the Rings
tale. He is a major reason that the Lord of the Rings is regarded as a pinnacle of epic fantasy
story telling. But he is not an overly complex villain, with morally gray motivations that some may
say are required if an evil character, especially the central one, is to be regarded as important and
beneficial to the plot. But the genius of Saurons villaint is his absence of complex reasoning or
motives that could be seen as not entirely evil. His one goal is to destroy the world of men. He can

Gandalf describes how it would corrupt him when Frodo asks him to take it, saying Do not
tempt me! For I do not wish to become lie the Dark Lord himself. Yet the way of the Ring to my
heart is by pity, pity for weakness and the desire of strength to do good. This is an important
aspect of Sauron s evil, as it is shwon throughout the story that while there are many that wish to
do good, they are not strong enough to resist the Ring, or what it would do to them. When these
characters fail, such as Boromir, it allows the reader to see just how twisted Sauron is, and how
heroic and steadfast the other protagonists, such as Frodo must be in order to accomplish their
goals. Frodo isn t the only prominent character to be forced to become someone greater than
who they begin as because of the unstoppable evil of Sauron. Aragorn also comes from humble
beginnings to change for the better. When we are first introduced to his character, he is a ranger.
Quiet, lonely and brooding, no one knows much about him, and he keeps to himself. He
described by Frodo as a strange looking, weather beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall.
This isn t the description one would think of when describing the heir to the throne of the
Kingdom of men, but at the beginning of the story, Aragorn does not fulfill that role. He is afraid
to take responsibility to care for anyone but himself. This is why he is afraid to claim

William Shakespeare s Henry Iv
Throughout the play Henry IV part 1, Shakespeare was able to depict the concept of honor
through many different individuals. Three main characters that Shakespeare choose to display
the concept of honor are Prince Hal, Hotspur and Falstaff. However, each of these characters
interpret the word honor differently. Hotspur has an obsession with honor and believes it s one
of the most important roles a leader has to show. He relates honor to the duties that he serves on
the battlefield and repetition. While Falstaff believes that honor is a word that only stays with
people who have died, therefore he finds no importance in seeking honor. Prince Hal was able to
find a balance between the two which allowed him to show key features in a leader... Show more

However, he has defeated Archibald and taken prisoners which included few with high political
status.Including Mordake, Earl of Fife, and the leader of Archibald s eldest son. King Henry
then begins to express how impressed he is of Hotspurs achievements. In envy that my Lord
Northumberland should be the father to so blest son: A son who is the theme of honor s tongue.
Within this statement the King is implying that Hotspurs father (Northumberland) is blessed to
have such a successful and fearless son, and that he is a perfect example of a man with honor.
This truly shapes the concept of honor that Hotspur takes on through the rest of the play. Since
he has now been so honored by the King for his bloodthirsty acts on the battlefield Hotspur
nearly became brainwashed and allowed his words to shape his every thought. He then made a
plan to ransom Mortimer. In which the King soon refused to do. Hotspur viewed this as a
dishonorable action of the King so he then seeked out to overthrow the King with Northumberland
and Worcester to regain the honor that was lost through the Kings mistreatment to him. This
shows that Hotspur believes he will gain honor by fighting in battles, and even if he dies he still
would die with great honor. Hotspur goes on to say To pluck bright honor from the pale faced
moon, or dive into the bottom of the deep. This projects how far Hotspur is

The Background And Nature Of The Movement For National...
Garibaldi went to the USA, Austria backed out of the war therefore handing Lombardy to
Sardinia. Treaty of Zurich ends northern Italy tension. Tuscany, Modena, and Parma seek
annexation by Sardinia. Italy was scattered during the 1850s but came together in the 1860s and
70s to really become a world power. Piedmont became the unlikely unifying power of Italy. Victor
Emmanuel II was the driving force. Sardinia fought against Russia in the Crimean war and won.
Sardinia was overall different because while being small they managed to get a lot done to further
the unification of Italy.
Explain the background and nature of the movement for national unification in Italy. What role had
Mazzini played? What had happened in 1848 to the unification movement?
After the fall of Napoleon, Italy was controlled mostly by Austria and the Habsburgs. The
movement for national unification in Italy started with revolts and demanding change to the kings.
Nationalists were influenced by other people in other countries that had successfully revolted, for
example like in Spain in 1820. The Kingdom of Two Sicilies was conquered and convinced the king
to establish a new constitution. Mazzini helped with Italian unification by creating a secret society
called Young Italy. The goal of Mazzini s new group was to promote nationalism and convince
people why there should be a unified Italy. In 1848, revolutions all over Italy occurred because
nationalists did not want Austria to have control over them.

growing form of communication and has become more available and less expensive. Based on the
research on long distance romantic relationships the participants criteria were to be between the
ages of 18 21, needed to be heterosexual and have currently or have been in a long distance

of relationship maintenance, such as: telephone calls, Instant Messaging (IM), and e mails. The
results found that conflicts arose, and therefore, telephone calls were preferred for better personal

In the Bobo Doll experiment conducted by Albert Bandura, researchers were interested in testing
children s behavior in response to their exposure to violence. This study was constructed with 72
children, 36 boys and 36 girls from Stanford University Nursery School. Before the study began,
each child was individually scored on his or her level of aggression towards others, as rated by the
experimenter and the child s teacher. Then the children were separated into groups based on a
similar score of aggression. The children were separated into three groups of 24 children. The three

Global Dependence On Fossil Fuel
The proportion of Renewables must increase to around 50% of the energy mix in most countries
and is expected to be over 70% in countries Brazil and Africa. Energy efficiencies and low carbon
energy carriers for heating and cooling can decarbonize electricity, significantly reducing the share
of fossil fuels to less than 50% in the total energy requirement. Sharing best practices across
borders can help transfer innovative technologies and support energy transition plans for many of
the developing countries that are majorly dependent on coal as a primary source of energy. Over
the coming years the dependence on fossil fuelwill have to gradually reduce and much of investment
must go into making this transition possible.
Governments, international corporations and other investing parties that can back up small

Milton s Paradise Lost By Milton
In Milton s Paradise Lost , Milton undertakes a major feat by justifying the way of God to man,
through his re telling of the Bible in an epic poem. His work has been criticized to be of the
Devil s party without knowing it ; however, to take such a binary interpretation of his work
undermines its complexity. It is both true and false that he wrote in fetters for god and liberty for
the devil, as well justified the way he wrote however the primary question arises w as he conscious
or unconscious in his methods.[Introduction of body paragraphs] [Thesis]
To play devil s advocate, one could argue that Milton was justifying, in part, the way of Satan to
man. The reader learns more of Satan compared to a very brief speech from God, as a ... Show more

Although the difference being: The first sort [devils] by their own suggestion fell, Self tempted,
self depraved; Man falls, deceived. By the other first: Man, therefore, shall find grace. The problem
with the theory that Milton is justifying Satan to man is that by book 4 the sympathy for him is
largely lost. He has had the opportunity to repent, he knows what he has done is wrong but he
continues to cause the fall of man. Adam and Eve have no comparison, they don t know what bad
is because they have only experienced good, however Satan has experienced both and still
chooses to do wrong. How can one have sympathy for he who chooses to do what is clearly wrong
consciously.
In Paradise Lost Satan is tempting to enjoy as a character. He is more dynamic, interesting as
well he takes the place of the hero in this epic. Satan s home is hell which Milton s describes
vividly as a dungeon horrible , darkness visible , where peace and rest can never dwell, hope
never comes , torture without end , waste and wild in contrast to basically no description of
heaven. In contrast Gods character in Paradise Lost is depicted as bland, he does not tempt, just
states what he needs to state in the hopes that his people will follow. Appropriate for the situation
for Milton believes God is perfection and does not need to change. The reasoning for this
particular depiction of these characters is found in Milton s ideals. As a Puritan, Milton s valued
simplicity in religion so

Was Rockefeller A Robber Baron Or A Captain Of Industry
John D. Rockefeller: Robber Baron or Captain of Industry? John D. Rockefeller could be thought
of as both a robber baron and a captain of industry because he did many things throughout his
career that would make you believe this. In my opinion, Rockefeller was more of a captain of
industry because he did a lot of philanthropic work after his retirement from the oil business.
Although, he did use illegal and very unethical tactics in order to gain his wealth, and he
completely ran his competitors out of business. He would do anything to gain more fortune for
himself. When people think of John D. Rockefeller, only one question comes to mind. Was he a

Rockefeller was a captain of industry because, unlike a robber baron who is ruthless in their

did create an oil monopoly, which is when a single company or group owns most of a market for
a certain product they are trying to sell, or a company that completely dominates a particular
industry. There are some advantages to creating a monopoly, like the avoidance of duplicated
products being sold. They are also able to avoid competition and be more efficient with the
products they are selling because they can afford to have the latest machinery and technology to
help them. There are also some disadvantages. Consumers can be charged higher prices for lower
quality goods, and the lack of competition could also lead to lower quality goods. Some would
say that this is very greedy because monopolies are usually associated with robber barons, but I
think Rockefeller was an exception to this. As a captain of industry, Rockefeller was in no way
greedy with the money he made from his oil

Selecting The Right Employee For The Workplace
Selecting the Right Employee for the Workplace In today s competitive healthcare industry,
employers must ensure the employees chosen to work within the organization are going to
support the mission, vision and values it sets forth. Selecting an appropriate employee can be a
challenging task for Human Resources (HR) and nurse managers and, therefore, an organization
must have a reliable selection process in place to ensure the best individual is chosen. The
purpose of this paper is to outline the employee selection process at Sunnybrook Health Sciences
Centre and how it was used to recently fill a Nurse Clinician position. The Selection Process
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre cares for over 1.2 million patients each year and employees
over 10,000 people in a wide variety of positions (Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, 2015).
Comprised of a long term care facility dedicated to looking after Canada s war veterans, called the
Veterans Centre (VC) and an acute care hospital, Sunnybrook attracts and employs some of the
most talented people in healthcare. Nurse managers are responsible for determining when they need
to fill a position. When a need is identified, the manager fills out an employee request form
outlining the reasons behind the request, such as retirement or maternity leave. The nurse manager
submits that form to the Director of Operations for approval. Once approved, the nurse manager
submits the form to HR to start the selection process. Sunnybrook posts

The Movement Of Fight For Urban Land Reform
The Movimento de Luta nos Bairros, Vilas e Favelas MLB (Movement of Fight in Communities,
Vilas and Favelas, loosely translated), is a Brazilian social movement that fights for urban land
reform and for the human right of decent living conditions. Thousands of families throughout the
whole country make up the movement, most of them victims of the land and propriety speculation
predatory action. They are gathered in a way much alike what Sidney Tarrow described as a social
movement, having a set up of collective challenges by people with common purposes and solidarity
in sustained interaction with elites, opponents and authorities (Tarrow, 1998).
Successive governments in Brazilian history have been ruling the county solely for the rich. During
the last centuries most part of governmental assistance was directed to owners of big industries,
great landowners and, more recently, bankers and financial speculators, and despite Brazil being
rich in natural resources, the majority of Brazilian society is poor and 11% of the population
still lives under the poverty line (Databank.worldbank.org, 2011). Nowadays, more than 7 million
families are denied access to decent housing and about half of the population is not served with
basic sanitation. According to the UN, by 2020, 55 million people will be living in favelas in
Brazil (UN, 2012).
MLB then proposes the urban land reform as a way to tackle this issue, an instrument part of a
bigger picture, that has to be used by the

Film and Book The Striped Pajamas by John Boyne Essay
Sins of the Father The movie Boy in the Striped Pajamas , based on the book by John Boyne, isn

and the responsibility we have as human beings to distinguish between the two; for it is
responsibility that distinguishes us from every other being. In my opinion, this is an important,
life changing film, with a significant message, and should be seen by all. The movie is told from

purposes. Electronic article surveillance tags uses radio waves to find out whether a customer
had paid for the item. When someone tries to walk out with an item that wasn t paid for, it gets
detected by the reader at the door resulting an alarm. In 1973, the first US patent was issued for
an active RFID tag. A RFID tag is saved with a unique numbers which gets broadcasted by a card
with the transponder. Therefore, the door would unlock when the reader detects the unique
number from the RFID tag. This technology was licensed to different companies, mainly door

The department of Agriculture expands the passive RFID technology to mark cows. The cows

Annotation Of Sophocles Dover Beach
Matthew Arnold begins Dover Beach with a beautiful and peaceful image of a sea at night, but
by the end of the poem he strips away the beauty, and shows the reader the nightmare, and horror
behind the calm ocean. The speaker describes a lovely scene with the water meeting the land, and
the moon glimmering off of the water, which creates a captivating image for the reader. The
speaker even makes the reader imagine the sounds of the beach Listen! you hear the grating roar
(9). This puts the reader on the beach with him, creating a peaceful, and blissful escape from the
world for a moment. The speaker creates an allusion to the an ancient playwright Sophocles, Heard
it on the Aegean, and it brought (16). This stanzaforces the reader to go back in time, and realize the
people that seem so far because of years walked the same beaches, and observed the same seas.

The speaker describes it as sweet, but then he describes Of the night wind, down the vast edges

lonely, confused, faithless world, with feelings of abandonment, and fear. The moon is also a key
part of the night, bringing the light to the night, but the light does not seem completely good either.
Where the sea meets the moon blanched land (9). The speaker seems to be hinting that even the
moon has evil in it; blanched makes the moon seem unnaturally pale, and almost a little like
death. The final two stanza shows the speaker s opinion of the world related to faith, and it
appears that the speaker has lost his faith. And we here as on a darkling plain (35). This is a

The Effects Of Religion On Athletic Performance
Introduction
Many athletes are superstitious, or go through the same series of progressions or habits before
competition, because they believe it gives them luck or a better chance to perform optimally.
Some of these habits, may include praying. The act of praying is a way for an athlete to think
they can attain an edge, so they can compete better. During my time as an intern with Fordham
Athletics, I was given many opportunities to spend time with athletes from a variety of sports. My
interactions with these athletes, as well as my own experience as a college athlete who prayed
before competitions, triggered my interest in the relationship between prayer, and athletic
performance. Does prayer before competition affect the overall performance of an athlete? In this
paper I will examine the effects of religion and prayer on an athlete going into competition, as well
as how it affects an athlete s overall performance.
Literature Review
There has been scarce documentation covering the effects of religion on athletic performance.
Up until two decades ago, articles and research consisted largely of people saying an athletes
religious beliefs had no effect on their overall performance. We have all heard questions asking if
it s necessary for a player to thank God after hitting a homerun, or taking a knee before the game
and praying. These articles were mostly based on the opinion of the author, and not backed by
empirical data. More recent research on this topic, includes a

Measurements in Boundary Layer Flows
Abstract: In this experiment, the velocity profile for a flat plate at zero pressure gradient of a
boundary layer at two different stream wise points were acquired. The investigation was also based
on and how changes in Reynolds number affect the velocity distribution within boundary layers.
Parameters such as the Momentum Thickness, Displacement Thickness, Shape Factor, shear stress
and coefficient of friction was also calculated to gain a better understand of boundary layers. The
experimental values calculated were compared to the theoretical Blasius for laminar flow and
Power Law Solutions for turbulent flow to see how they varied. It was found out the higher the

[5] The boundary layer can also be measured by other factors. One factor is the Displacement
Thickness, Оґ*. It is defined as the distance by which the free streamlines are displaced in the y
direction due to the formation of the boundary layer. The formation of the boundary layer
reduces the mass flow rate per unit area. This is because near the surface the molecules are
travelling slower, meaning less flow rate per unit area is going out compared to coming in. In
order to compensate for this loss in mass flow rate, the external streamlines (free streamlines) will
be displaced. The distance it displaced is the Оґ*. [5] When deriving this equation it is assumed the
flow is incompressible and steady. Another factor is the Momentum Thickness, Пґ. It is defined as
the thickness of a layer of freestream fluid carrying a momentum flow rate equal to the reduction in
momentum flow rate caused by the formation of the boundary layer. Closer to the surface of the
object, the flow is slower. This means that the momentum is also slower. Пґ is a measurement of the
compensation that makes us the momentum flow rate that was lost due to the formation of the
boundary layer. The momentum thickness is useful in determining the skin friction drag on a
surface. [5] When deriving this equation it is assumed the flow is incompressible and steady.
Momentum Thickness is an indication of Drag. Two parameters that

This is a great opportunity to show the interviewer what sets you apart from other applicants and
why you would be a perfect fit for the position. If this is your first time interviewing for this

However, do not let that discourage you. There are other ways to show experience, such as
talking about your experience as a swimmer. When I first applied to be a lifeguard I had no on
the job experience. Instead of letting that intimidate me, I informed them that I was a
competitive swimmer for 6 years and even made it to the junior Olympics. By highlighting your
swimming experience it shows the interviewer that you have previous training and are
comfortable in the water. Another way to show experience is to mention any volunteer work
where you had a leadership role or had to interact with and directed people. A major key to
lifeguarding is supervising others. Volunteer work shows you are capable of handling

important that you described to them the steps you take when handling difficult situations. For
those who have had previse experience as a lifeguard you should describe a time where you had

Radiation Concentration Of Unknown Samples Using A Uv...
etermination of iodine concentration of Unknown samples using a UV Visible Spectrophotometer.
Abstract:
The purpose of this experiment is to use UV/Visible Spectrophotometer to determine the
concentration on three unknown samples of iodine (A, B and C), this is done by measuring the
absorbance of different known concentration of iodine using a UV/Visible Spectrophotometer and
plotting a calibration curve of Absorbance Vs Concentration (as shown in Fig 4). This is used to
find the concentration of the unknown samples as the absorbance was measured using a UV
Spectrophotometer. The wavelength used to measure the absorbance is 287.20 nm and the method
number used was 40 . The concentration of Samples A, B and C are 1.48*10 4M, 1.03*10 4M ...

When a light set at a specific wavelength enters the cuvette which contains the solution that need to
be tested, some of the incident light (I0) is absorbed by the solution, and the rest of the light which
leaves the solution (the transmitted light I) is detected, the amount of light absorbed depends on
the concentration of the solution. The amount of light that goes into the solution and the amount of
light that leaves the solution gives a value of the absorbance (A) of the solution which can be
calculated by using the equation: (A= log (I/I0)). This equation assumes that all the incident light is
either transmitted or absorbed, therefore, reflection or scattering are insignificant. [1]
The quantity of light absorbed is inversely proportional to the logarithm of the amount of light
absorbed by the substance. The amount of light absorbed by a substance is directly proportional to
the concentration of the substance (As the concentration increases, the absorbance also increases
provided that the wavelength is constant). [1]
A=пЃҐlc [1]
Where пЃҐпЂ is the substance and wavelength specific absorption coefficient,
I is the length the light travels through the sample and c is the concentration of the sample. [1]
To comprehend the theory behind how a spectrophotometer works, an understanding of the
relationship between energy and light must be required. Light contains tiny packs

Internal And External Conflicts In Hamlet
Conflict is indispensable to drama. Show that the inward conflicts are equally important as the
outward conflict in the play.
Hamlet faces both internal and external conflicts from the beginning of the play. In the play, the
inner and outer conflicts of Hamlet seem to arise from the death of his father, King Hamlet, by his
uncle, now King Claudius. Since Hamlets life pervades with conflicts as the confusion he faces
essentially becomes the main focus of the play. However, Hamlet contains a diverse set of conflicts,
of which Hamlet s inner conflicts are as prominent as his conflicts with other characters. As Hamlet
deals with dilemmas within himself, other individuals, and the supernatural figure of his father.

The two characters are facing both internal and external conflicts throughout the play. Hamlet s
madness is portrayed through his thoughts as he is says he can kill Claudius at that moment.
Hamlet s innermost feelings towards Claudius is brought out in his sixth soliloquy. Hamlet s initial
thought being Now might I do it pat (3.3.73) displays his willingness to take action and commit the
murder. However, his conscience stop him from committing the murder as he comes to the
realization that Claudius sins will be exempted if he were to die while striving repentance. Hamlet
s desire to punish Claudius is shown as he wants to ensure the dead of his uncle lasts an eternity and
not a moment. This conflict between Hamlet and Claudius allows the development of the play as it
is essentially revolves around the dead of King Hamlet. The struggle between Hamlet and the forces
of nature are brought upon through the interaction with the Ghost. This is an external conflict as it is
a struggle seen through the communication amongst the Ghost and the protagonist, himself. Hamlet
first encounters his father s spirit and contemplates whether or not he is a demon pretending to be
the former King of Dane. The Ghost reveals his reason of death to be due to being poisoned and
murdered by Claudius when he states, but know, thou noble youth, The serpent that did sting thy
Fathers life, Now wears his crown. This further leads to

the fox s body to Minimize surface area that is exposed to the cold air . Their fur changes color
depending on the season, in the winter the coat is white to blend in with the snow and in the
summer it can be brown, cream, or gray. They also have small ears, a short muzzle, and short legs

When Did Jeremiah Call To Become A Prophet
The unusual concept of Jeremiah call to be a prophet was that he had to speak. Jeremiah
chapters1 verse 5 confirms that He was called by God and appointed to be a prophet to the
nations (Oakland, 2017). Jeremiah was not always passionate pertaining to what God had called
him to do. Jeremiah chapter1 verses 7 and 8 confessed that His calling commanded him to speak
with boldness and not to be afraid of those whom he was directed to warn (Oakland, 2017).
Jeremiah acknowledge that it was the truth that would set sinners free. He was also mindful that
hiding the truth would bring further destruction (Tullock and McEntire, 2012). Jeremiah had a
compassion for those who were deceived. He also had a passion to inform the betrayed that there

The Role of Infrastructure in Information Assurance and Cyber Security
The attacks on critical infrastructure have become a growing cause of concern for governments and
private providers internationally whether caused through cybercriminals pursuing financial gain or
by hackers as political acts intended to emasculate governments and companies credibility. The
anxiety around these threats is vindicated, as research exhibits that attacks on the critical
infrastructure are greater than before in both complexity and prevalence and will endure to develop
in the near future. The site management and monitoring have progressed for critical infrastructure
facilities as they have become more increasingly connected to the internet. However, added
convenience of connectivity has turned once limited attack surface of these industries into a fertile
landscape for cyber attacks. Due to the potentially high profile impacts of attacks on critical
infrastructure systems, these industries have become even more attractive targets for
cybercriminals (Cavelty, 2014).
Information assurance is a measure that safeguards and defends information and information
systems through ensuring availability, authentication, integrity, non repudiation, and confidentiality.
In addition, the measures comprise providing for information system restoration through

If Fiat can pacify Chrysler, if the integration of Fiat Chrysler works, if Americans really buy smaller engine cars, if the new platforms prove successful, if they keep their position in Brazil and manage to break into Russia and China, if Europe recovers. • 5. Necessary Causes Of War Permissive causes of war are those features of the international system which, while not actively promoting war, nevertheless allow it to happen (Baylis et al 2002, p. 71). The lack of ungoverned international system some believe is the root that causes war. There are reasonable arguments for both. It has also been found useful to distinguish between necessary and sufficient causes of war. A necessary condition is one that must be present for it to occur if that condition is not present then there will be no breakout of war. The existence of arms is a necessary condition of war because without weapons no war can be fought. It is also necessary for humans to be in organized groups states, tribes, ethnic groups, nations, or mechanisms for preventing it such as an effective world government. A sufficient cause of war is one that, if present, guarantees the occurrence of war. A is a sufficient cause of B if B always occurs whenever A exists (Baylis et al 2002, p. 27). For example, if two states hate each other and cannot tolerate co existence then that is a sufficient cause of war between them. Cause of war can be sufficient without being necessary and vice versa. Category of necessary and sufficient do not cover all the possible causes of war. There are unpredictable causes of war that do not fall into these two categories such as a desire of a statesman to annex territory belonging to neighboring states. Belief in a purely objective understanding of such concepts as justice, love, and virtue, and the self knowledge that he encouraged, were the basis of his teachings. He believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad; correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Socrates was not a believer in any specific metaphysical point of view, but he believed that he was appointed by God to examine himself and others in order to discover who they really are. Thus, he claimed that the highest goodness consists in the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral understanding. Wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the individual and to the state . (Plato, p 62). Three main characters that Shakespeare choose to display the concept of honor are Prince Hal, Hotspur and Falstaff. However, each of these characters interpret the word honor differently. Hotspur has an obsession with honor and believes it s one of the most important roles a leader has to show. He relates honor to the duties that he serves on the battlefield and repetition. Since he has now been so honored by the King for his bloodthirsty acts on the battlefield Hotspur nearly became brainwashed and allowed his words to shape his every thought. After the fall of Napoleon, Italy was controlled mostly by Austria and the Habsburgs. The movement for national unification in Italy started with revolts and demanding change to the kings. Nationalists were influenced by other people in other countries that had successfully revolted, for example like in Spain in 1820. The Kingdom of Two Sicilies was conquered and convinced the king to establish a new constitution. Mazzini helped with Italian unification by creating a secret society called Young Italy. Over the coming years the dependence on fossil fuelwill have to gradually reduce and much of investment must go into making this transition possible. Governments, international corporations and other investing parties that can back up small entrepreneurs, suppliers and local universities in their research and sharing of knowledge across the spectrum of value chain. International collaboration and continuous dialogues between the stakeholders to share both risks and benefits of such collaborations can facilitate knowledge sharing. • 23. Milton s Paradise Lost By Milton In Milton s Paradise Lost , Milton undertakes a major feat by justifying the way of God to man, through his re telling of the Bible in an epic poem. His work has been criticized to be of the Devil s party without knowing it ; however, to take such a binary interpretation of his work undermines its complexity. It is both true and false that he wrote in fetters for god and liberty for the devil, as well justified the way he wrote however the primary question arises w as he conscious or unconscious in his methods.[Introduction of body paragraphs] [Thesis] To play devil s advocate, one could argue that Milton was justifying, in part, the way of Satan to man. Although the difference being: The first sort [devils] by their own suggestion fell, Self tempted, self depraved; Man falls, deceived. By the other first: Man, therefore, shall find grace. The problem with the theory that Milton is justifying Satan to man is that by book 4 the sympathy for him is largely lost. He has had the opportunity to repent, he knows what he has done is wrong but he continues to cause the fall of man. Adam and Eve have no comparison, they don t know what bad is because they have only experienced good, however Satan has experienced both and still chooses to do wrong. How can one have sympathy for he who chooses to do what is clearly wrong consciously. In Paradise Lost Satan is tempting to enjoy as a character. He is more dynamic, interesting as well he takes the place of the hero in this epic. Satan s home is hell which Milton s describes vividly as a dungeon horrible , darkness visible , where peace and rest can never dwell, hope never comes , torture without end , waste and wild in contrast to basically no description of heaven. In contrast Gods character in Paradise Lost is depicted as bland, he does not tempt, just states what he needs to state in the hopes that his people will follow. Appropriate for the situation for Milton believes God is perfection and does not need to change. The reasoning for this particular depiction of these characters is found in Milton s ideals. During my time as an intern with Fordham Athletics, I was given many opportunities to spend time with athletes from a variety of sports. [5] The boundary layer can also be measured by other factors. One factor is the Displacement Thickness, Оґ*. It is defined as the distance by which the free streamlines are displaced in the y direction due to the formation of the boundary layer. The formation of the boundary layer reduces the mass flow rate per unit area. This is because near the surface the molecules are travelling slower, meaning less flow rate per unit area is going out compared to coming in. In order to compensate for this loss in mass flow rate, the external streamlines (free streamlines) will be displaced. The distance it displaced is the Оґ*. [5] When deriving this equation it is assumed the flow is incompressible and steady. Another factor is the Momentum Thickness, Пґ. It is defined as the thickness of a layer of freestream fluid carrying a momentum flow rate equal to the reduction in momentum flow rate caused by the formation of the boundary layer. Closer to the surface of the object, the flow is slower. This means that the momentum is also slower. Пґ is a measurement of the compensation that makes us the momentum flow rate that was lost due to the formation of the boundary layer. The amount of light that goes into the solution and the amount of light that leaves the solution gives a value of the absorbance (A) of the solution which can be calculated by using the equation: (A= log (I/I0)). This equation assumes that all the incident light is either transmitted or absorbed, therefore, reflection or scattering are insignificant.
