What Speech Sounds Do You Expect That This Child Will Have...
1. What speech sounds do you expect that this child will have difficulty perceiving?
Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th
Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th
2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why?
I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in
higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range.
Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds.
3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech abilities
and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about
them?
Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with
language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly
because of the age and condition of the hearing aids.
It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even
more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate
hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of
the time. In Julie s case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the

Action research is the process through which teachers collaborate in evaluating their practice jointly;
raise awareness of their personal theory; articulate a shared conception of values; try out new
strategies to render the values expressed in their practice more consistent with the educational values
they espouse; record their work in a form which is readily available to and understandable by other
teachers; and thus develop a shared theory of teaching by researching practice. John Elliott What is

Environmental Issues Of The American Automotive Industry
In conversations globally the environment is a hot topic. Issues with the ozone layer, depleting natural
resources, and health risks associated with emissions and changes in climate coupled with its resulting
natural disasters; have pushed conservation issues into the spotlight. The environmental issues
presented today are not the result of one country, one type, or one industry actions but a communal
failure of a mixture of several. With that said many countries and industries are going through policy
changes to combat environmental issues that will hopefully benefit the environment, the consumer,
and industries.
One industry that is currently undergoing environmental challenges that call for changes is the
American Automotive Industry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lower the miles per gallon (mpg) a vehicle has the greater the amount of fuel needed to reach
destinations. Armed with this knowledge, the United States government, through various agencies, set
forth a plan regulation to be followed by the industry in an attempt to lower vehicle emissions.
On the heels of the 2011 fuel standards Cash for Clunkers that called for a reduction of emissions in
heavy duty vehicles, the Obama Administration has introduced new fuel and emissions regulations
and standards for the whole American Automotive Industry. These regulations, on light duty and
heavy duty vehicles, that have been passed by the administration are a joint effort by the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), The National program for greenhouse gas
emissions (GHG) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Though there are various
procedures the meat of the regulation is that by 2025 fleets of vehicles would need to get an average of
54.5 mpg. By doing this greenhouse gas emissions will be cut by almost 6 billion metric tons by 2025.
This agreement was the first of its kind and garners support from 13 major automakers, which account
for almost 90% of the auto producers in the U.S. The auto producers get a set national fuel standard
and the nation gets less emissions. But as with all changes there are those who are happy and those
who are not. Those encouraging the

Public Sentiment Regarding the Vietnam War
Many of the democrats within the legislative branch turned against Johnson s war. Scholar s conflict
on the reason why Johnson s own party turned against him, some scholars attribute it to the growing
number of antiwar constituents, while other scholars such as E.M. Schreiber, Burstein and
Freudenburg cite the numerous deaths of American soldiers in combat. One democrat by the name of
Eugene McCarthy labeled the entire Vietnam War as an error and describes the Johnson administration
as misguided. McCarthy decides to run for President, but loses in the primaries by a slim margin to
Johnson, further indicating that the antiwar movement was gaining significant momentum. Things

In response to the tragedy and the Cambodia invasion, mass rallies were held in almost every major
city in that month. The elite demographic, which includes doctors, lawyers and other professionals
also flooded into Washington to display their opposition not only to the war but the increasing
domestic violence. The incident dramatically affected Americans and it was further indicated through
public opinion polls, which pointed blame towards the National Guard. To many Americans, the
domestic upheaval following Cambodia and Kent State suggested that the country was becoming
unhinged according to Melvin Small. Newspapers such as the New York Times suggested that the
United States was as divided as it had been since the Civil War. Individuals that would identify
themselves as pro war now felt that the war s cost in terms of domestic consequence outweighed the
benefits of continuing the war. The White House was now in full damage control following the Kent
State shootings. Public opinion polls showed a 31 percent approval for the war following the Kent
State massacre. In response, White House officials anxiously discussed how to contain the uproar.
According to David Anderson and John Ernst in their book titled, The War That Never Ends: Student
Opposition to the Vietnam War, White House officials agreed that it was important to avoid steps that

How Do Greek Gods And Goddesses Act Like Humans
The gods and goddesses in Greek and Roman mythology don t actually behave like divine beings.
They act more like humans with great power and authority. Even Jove, the ruler of all the gods, doesn
t always act like a divine being. The gods and goddesses in Greek and Roman mythology act like
humans, rather than divine beings.
First, the gods have an unrighteous jealousy. For example, Jove has many wives and many sons and
daughters by these wives. Jove s first wife, Juno, is very jealous of Jove s other wives. She is mean to
the other wives; she even turns one of them into a bear. She also tries to kill some of the other wives
sons, this is the case with Heracles, also known as Hercules. Juno sends two large snakes to kill
Heracles, but he strangles them with his bare hands. On one occasion, Jove sends Juno, Minerva and
Venus to a shepherd named Paris, who is told to choose the goddess who is the most beautiful. He
chooses Venus, which makes Juno and Minerva very jealous. Paris is a Trojan, so during the Trojan
war, both Juno and Minerva ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This happens multiple times in mythology. Pluto, god of the Underworld, carries off Proserpine and
makes her his queen. Her mother Ceres goes looking her and discovers that she is in the Underworld.
Jove doesn t completely release her because she eats a pomegranate while she is down there. As a
result, she spends half the year with her mother and the other half with her husband Pluto. In another
instance, Jove disguises himself as a bull and carries off Europa, daughter of King Agenor. The king
sends his son Cadmus to search for Europa, though it doesn t mention if he ever finds her or not. Gods
are not the only ones who carry people off. Aurora, goddess of the dawn, carries off a man whose
name is Cephalus, whose new wife is Procris. He loves Procris very much and resists Aurora s
entreaties and she finally lets him go back to his

Caribbean Beach
Take a second to close your eyes and envision yourself on a beach in the Caribbean islands. You are
laying on the sand, a soft white powder that heats your body on contact. You hear the repeating rhythm
of the majestically moving waves as they collide with the shore. The brisk smell of ocean air and the
pulsing warmth of the sun wraps you in its arms like a mother swaddling her newborn. Now open your
eyes and realize how at peace you are; Nature can bring you enlightenment, it can also be considered a
religion or an oath to live by. We encounter nature in our everyday life. The cotton we wear, the food
and water we consume, and the materials of our daily routine all originate from the earth. We cannot
survive in our world without nature looking over us, providing us and influencing our habits. Although
people say we are apart from nature, we are, in fact one with nature because we feel its presence in
more ways than one.
Many argue that mankind and Nature are separate entities. Humans have altered the already existing
earth by creating a sort of utopia. The beaches are perfectly clean and would fit the criteria for an ideal
getaway but none of that is in matter of fact nature. The beaches, for example, are made in order to
create profit , therefore the image is not real. It s like coloring your hair, it can make you look more
appealing but in reality it is damaging the hair. Palm trees are planted, unnatural erosion occurs and ...

Even though some argue that as humans we cannot be a part of nature because all we do is harm it, the
truth is that this is hypocrisy. If they continue to use and rely on natural materials daily they are going
against their word. If we can say that we do not need water or food to survive, then it is okay to
presume we are apart from Nature. Until that day comes, we might as well indulge in everything our
Earth has to offer, and allow it to fabricate us into healthy, peaceful human

Atrial Fibrillation
The heart is a complex yet delicate organ that operates the body on a regular basis. Without the heart
the circulation system within the body would cease to exist; therefore, we would cease to exist. As
with everything that is complex and works around the clock there are certain issues that can arise for
example, atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is the result of an irregular or fast heartbeat this will often
cause an inadequate circulation throughout the rest of the body. The atrium of the heart will not sync
up to the ventricles causing an irregular or fast heartbeat.
The episodes of atrial fibrillation can come and go or remain permanently and cannot usually be
corrected without surgical intervention. This could be caused by hypertension, ... Show more content

His work led to the evolution of radiofrequency energy catheters, which use radiofrequency energy to
heat the catheter tip and perform a more precise ablation than what was possible with direct current
ablation. (UCSF.(2012). When cardiac ablation is performed the surgeon is targeting the diseased
conductive tissue once this is done, this will assist in correcting atrial fibrillation within the heart.
These surgeries can be either minimally invasive or require an open surgical approach. Cardiac
ablation is achieved through a cardiac catheter this delivers radiofrequency energy or cryoenergy to
the defective area this is considered to be a minimally invasive approach. The electrophysiologist will
insert a catheter into the femoral vein/artery and threads it to the right or left atrium and ventricle.
They will then test different areas of the heart to try and reproduce dysrhythmia upon doing this they
will then ablate the area of the heart where the disturbance takes place. Another alternative would be
an open surgery known as a sternotomy approach this is where a midline incision is made in the
sternum of the chest. Cannulation of the superior and inferior vena cava will then take place for a
cardiopulmonary bypass. The surgeon will occlude the ascending aorta and infuse cardioplegic
solution into the coronary arteries. Once this is done a right and left atriotomy is performed and the
targets are ablated. The atriotomies are closed, the aorta is unclamped, cardiopulmonary bypass is
stopped, cannulas are removed, chest tubes will be inserted at this time and the surgical wound is
closed. Upon completion of the surgery the patient is taken to the PACU and monitored for heart
rhythm issues as well as, bleeding, infection, or any other complications from the procedure. ( Fuller,

The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital Essay
The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital was founded in 1910 by Annie Taylor Dee and her eight
children as a tribute to their husband and father. The hospital was ready for occupancy on December
29, 1910. Unfortunately, by 1914 the Dee family could no longer provide the funding needed to
operate the hospital. Financial appeals to keep the hospital open were made to the Weber County
Commissioners and medical staff but to no avail to save the institution. The hospital was scheduled to
close its doors on November 15, 1914.
In an effort to save the hospital, Annie Taylor decided to write a letter to Elder David O. McKay, a
member of the quorum of twelve apostles of the LDS Church, to petition for his help. Elder McKay
held a meeting with members of the first presidency and presiding bishopric where they decided it
would be a calamity for the hospital to close and were able to establish a plan to save the institution by
bringing the hospital into the LDS Church Hospital System (intermountainhealthcare.org). Hospital
growth and accomplishments followed in the next thirty years. As time passed, the growth of the
hospital required a new facility be constructed. It was suggested that the new hospital be called
McKay Dee Hospital to honor David O. McKay. It became an institution of healing on July 12, 1969.
On November 10, 1971 The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital or The Dee opened a new facility
adjacent to the McKay. These structures served the community until the current McKay Dee

Digestion Reactions Lab Report
Gas Production in Relation to Combustion Reactions
Introduction
Chew, swallow, digest, and pass: these may not seem like anything other than simple functions, but
they are very important when it comes to the process of digestion, as well as, the environment. This is
because all of these actions relate to the subject of gas production. Reactions in which gasses are
formed take place in many aspects of the natural world. Whether it is within the atmosphere or within
the body. A gas that is a perfect example for both of these situations is CO2. In relation to biological
function, CO2 is produced by internal combustion reactions. Combustion reactions are, simply put, the
interaction of a carbon and hydrogen compound with oxygen gas that produces ... Show more content

In this case, digestion is left to bacteria living within the digestive tract (Health and Science Pipeline
Initiative, n.d.). An important example of this bacteria is Lactobacillus Acidophilus, commonly
referred to as L. acidophilus (Robertson, 2017). It is of the Gram positive species and the
Lactobacillus genus (Hammes, n.d.). It can be located in large amounts in the small intestine, where it
assists in the fermentation of indigestible carbohydrates and the production of lactic acid (Williams,
n.d.). Another microbial bacteria that produces lactic acid is Bifidobacterium longum. This bacteria is
of the Bifidobacterium genus and the Gram positive species (Dority, 2017). It is most densely found in
the large intestine. Without regulation of these bacteria, problems can arise, such as difficulty properly
digesting dairy (Williams, n.d.). This is why it is common to be prescribed probiotic supplements after
taking antibiotics, which can kill off this helpful bacteria (Health and Science Pipeline Initiative, n.d.).
Another bacteria, still important but found in less quantity, is Escherichia coli, commonly referred to
as E. coli. It is of the Escherichia species and the Gram negative species (UWLAX , n.d.). Its
functionality in the human body is essential for the absorption of vitamins in the large intestine such

A Journey To Happiness In Rock, Paper, Scissors
A Journey Toward Happiness Happiness is the key to success. While reading the chapter on
confession and how to turn back to God, there was a passage that stood out to me. Every journey
toward something is a journey away from something. This reminded me of the presentation that was
given a couple of weeks ago to the students. The speaker s slogan was Rock, Paper, Scissors . A point
of his speech that stood out to me was about the scissors. The speaker said that everyone need to cut
out the things in our lives that are not good for us if we want to have a successful future. When I read

Ex Machina And Frankenstein
Throughout history, people have made works of art both praising and criticizing the development of
science and technology. The novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, shows an older form of this type of
work, while the film, Ex Machina, shows the modern version of this. In both of the stories a new being
is created, and while in the film the consequences of creating life are somewhat more thought out,
both result in the deaths of the creators and others. This paper is going to analyze how different
aspects of these two pieces compare including: their characters, their stories, and the themes or morals
of the works. Both Frankenstein and Ex Machina involve realizing the complexities of life. They
highlight the strengths and weaknesses of man, and warn of the advancements of the sciences. While
neither are outright saying that science and advancement is a bad thing, they warn of the consequences
of new technologies as well as the lack of understanding and planning. In the end, both of these stories
warn and teach the reader or viewer about the shortcomings of mankind. While there are a few
differences, the characters and the messages conveyed by them in the works, Ex Machina and
Frankenstein, are generally very similar. In both of these works, the reader or viewer s opinion of the
different characters and their actions changes as they are developed. It is ambiguous who the
protagonist is supposed to be in both stories, and initial opinions on who really is on the right side

The Importance Of Equal Pay For Equal Work
Despite the numerous benefits society reaps from equal pay for equal work , there is still a prevalent
gender inequality that persists. Research indicates that Australia s female senior executives earn
drastically less money than their male co workers across all types of pay, not just performance based
(Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 785). It was found that executives who were female, represented 8.2 per
cent of the study sample, earnt approximately 22.58 per cent less in base salary compared to men
during the same sample period (Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 787). Furthermore, if executives were
granted performance based pay, women were awarded roughly 16.26 per cent less in cash bonus and
18.21 per cent less in long term incentive pay (Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 783). Provided women are
awarded less money in all forms of compensation, the idea of women breaking the class ceiling is a
difficult task that seems unobtainable to most. In such circumstances despite entering the workforce,
women may experience reduced motivation to seek management or board positions due to the
extended effort they have to provide over men.
Important gender differences still influence numerous labour market outcomes and possibilities (Farre,
2016). Women s discontinuous labour market participation is a major contributor to gender inequality
within the labour force (Arnarson Aparna, 2010). Women are often forced to exit the labour market for
an extended duration of time due to many reasons such

Themes of Shelley s Frankenstein Essay
Mary Shelley discusses the themes of birth and creation, appearance and the necessity of
companionship, love and acceptance in her novel Frankenstein. The themes that are explored in
Frankenstein are relevant to today s modern world. Shelley challenges readers by endorsing and
confronting attitudes and values in her text through the events, circumstances and outcomes that take
place in the novel, thus causing the reader to reflect upon their own lives and in turn the society
around them. Shelley raises in her text an issue that is on the forefront of discussion in the modern
world, that of man taking the place of God and the role of woman in the creation of life. The modern
world is currently grappling over the concerns of cloning, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main themes in Frankenstein is appearance and acceptance. In today s society and the
society in which Frankenstein is set, people often judge one another solely based on appearance.
Social prejudice is often based on looks. Be it the colour of one s skin, the clothes they wear, facial
features or even ones body expressions. People make snap judgements based on what the eye beholds.
Today s schools are a prime example of this as people are classified instantly and almost unknowingly.
There s a lot of hate around here, Gentry Robler, 16, a sophomore at Santana High. He reels off the
high school cliques: the gothics, the freaks, the dorks, the jocks, the Mexican gangsters, the white
supremacists. Time March 2001 pg. 24 This example of the significance of appearance in modern
society is also echoed in Frankenstein. The parallel between the society in the novel and modern
society is that of snap judgements based solely on appearances. In the novel, Victor Frankenstein is a
perpetrator of such judgements. Victor selected his features as beautiful. Here it is seen Victor s
shallowness as he picked the most perfect body parts and beauteous features, all to be pieced together
in great anticipation. However as one can see, the result is horrific and due to the hideousness of the
wretch that he has created, he abandons him. This same shallowness of judgement due to appearance
again surfaces when Victor accuses the creature of murdering William

Introduction
With technology moving at such a rapid pace, etiquette and ethics have a hard time keeping up. Five
years ago few people had even heard of electronic mail or e mail and even today, whether to add a
hyphen or not it is of trivial debate.
As a society, we hold dear the value of privacy and confidentiality as a basic fundamental right.
Access to the new technology of electronic mail can jeopardize both values.
What privacy rights should employees enjoy, and how can these be reconciled with the legitimate
need of organzations to control and manage their network?

1The Colonists realized, before the revolutionary war, that there was a need to somehow police the
system to make sure that the mail is delivered to the person in which it was intended and that it did not
fall into the hands of someone else, namely the British.
To date, there are more than eighty federal crimes called postal offenses. In fact, there is a special
division of U.S. Postal investigators that have full powers of arrest . . . and we are the only country in
the world that has such regulating powers attached to our mail delivery system. Most Americans know
that tampering with mail not addressed to them is a federal offense. 2
So, if we have such protection for our written paper correspondence, would not the same kind of
protection apply to missives sent electronically?
For a working defintion of electronic mail (e mail), let us use: any technology enabling the non

Ben Franklin would be proud of the expediency of information transferred today, but unlike during his

How did electronic mail begin?
Before the 1980 s, e mail was rarely even heard of. The Postal System developed a system called E

Examples Of Masculinity In I Got You
The difference in I Got You is that unlike your typical love stories, one partner isn t there just to save
the other, but Benjamin helps Jake save himself. He believed in Jake and helped him accomplish
something for himself, he gave him strength and wasn t there just so Jake could coward out and
depend on him. Benjamin helped Jake so that he could survive on his on. In many love stories this isn
t so true. The prince always saves the princess and all she learn is there will be a prince to rescue her
from her problems. For anyone who reads I Got You, they will clearly see that even though the cliché
theme of love conquers all is in the story, they will also see the themes of learning to be true to
yourself, stand up for yourself, and stand up for what you believe in, even when no one else will.
Representations of Masculinity
Being Masculine is something that most of us, even women are very familiar with. When we think of
masculinity we think of toxic masculinity or being hyper aggressive, non emotional, hypersexual, and
violent. For society, that is what masculinity is, toxic. In Jamie Lake s I Got You, there were at least

How The Family Influence In Joyce Carol Oates Where Are...
In Joyce Carol Oates Where are you going, where have you been, family influence is shown to be a
key factor in the molding of a child s character, who they are. Connie, the protagonist of Oates short
story, missed out on this key due to lack in positive family influence. Connie, insecure and vulnerable,
was led straight into the arms of Arnold, because her family belittled her, caused her dual personality
and omitted proper guidance.
First of all, Connie s parents played no role in improving her self image. Connie s mother, having aged
out of her prime, was jealous of her daughter s beauty, criticizing her whenever the opportunity
presented itself. Connie s mother would yell at her younger daughter, Stop gawking at yourself, who
are you? You think you re so pretty? (312). This constant scolding chipped away at Connie s
confidence, leaving her yearning for affirmation, someone to say she is such a pretty girl ... Show

Much like a corrupted computer file, Connie created a new image, one that broke away from the
corrupted indoor Connie, Everything about her had two sides to it, one for home and one for anywhere
that was not home (313). Proving that life could be better, Connie went out shopping or to a movie
often, not because they provided temporary entertainment to kill time, but to watch as boys want her.
One night in midsummer they ran across [to a restaurant], breathless with daring, and right away
someone leaned out a car window and invited them over, but it was just a boy from high school they
didn t like. It made them feel good to be able to ignore him (313). Knowing that someone wanted her
satisfied her need to be praised. However, this left her vulnerable to people who prayed on the
insecurities of others. Arnold Friend was quick to discover the psychological conflict of living a split

Hummbert Love Lolita
I. Question/Issue Throughout the course of the novel, Nabokov mentions and references the theme of
love, specifically when he recalls on Humbert s feelings toward Lolita. As the narrator of the story,
Humbert uses love as a willful and tenacious justification for his pedophilic tendencies toward
nymphets like Lolita. As Lolita is only a young, undeveloped, and immature child, Humbert s desire
for Lolita is not only unreasonable and awkward, but also psychologically and physically obsessive;
he is unlike any other pedophile out here, as he experiences very little satisfaction after fondling ,
kissing , and groping Lolita. In every description and detail of Lolita throughout the novel, Humbert
reminds the readers of his obsessive affinities which he has absolutely no control over and the ones
that constantly keep him wanting to come back for more. As a large portion of the audience of this
novel find the book to have the basis of lust , and a fair amount of other readers believes it has the
basis of love , the question of whether or not Humbert truly loves Lolita comes into ... Show more

1. Although I told myself I was looking merely for a soothing presence, a glorified pot au feu, an
animated merkin, what really attracted me to Valeria was the imitation she gave of a little girl. She
gave it not because she had divined something about me; it was just her style and I fell for it. Actually,
she was at least in her late twenties (I never established her exact age for even her passport lied) and
had mislaid her virginity under circumstances that changed with her reminiscent moods (Chapter 8,

Context: After finding out that his Uncle in the United States had recently passed away and left him
some money to inherit, Humbert moves to America to start a new business life and describes his short
marriage with Valeria from 1935 to 1939. Although she is nearing her thirties, Valeria s appearance

Compare And Contrast Edward Taylor And Housewifery
Religion in many cultures dictates the way you live, think, and write. The Puritans base every part of
their daily life on a stringent plan dictated by their beliefs in God. Most Puritan writers write in a very
similar style; plain poetry style, metaphorical comparing, and a very God driven writing style.
However there are two writers of this culture that stand out , the first one is Edward Taylor and his
poem Housewifery and the second is Anne Bradstreet and her poem To My Dear and Loving Husband
. Out of the two previously listed poets and their poetry Edward Taylor and Housewifery is puritanical
than the other due to its religious tone, use of apostrophe to further exemplify the religious meaning
behind it, and the application and meaning of the metaphors used. The application of certain tones set
how readers will perceive the poem s meaning; so if the tone is lighter, it can either be mentally and or
spiritually enlightening, happy, and or humorous. Quotes from the poems such as Make me, O Lord,
the Spinning Wheel Complete and The Holy Word my Distaff make for me display the poem s very
religious accordance to God and Taylor s beliefs. The tone from Taylor s poem, being very optimistic
and intrinsically religious, is the polar opposite than Bradstreet s. Bradstreet s poem tone is one of
sadness written for her beloved husband to come home. Throughout her poem Bradstreet shows her
sad but loving tone with lines such as I prize thy love more than

Globalization Chapter Summary
Globalization
Globalization has recently become one of the words which define our aera. So what does globalization
mean? When writing this book the author M. Steger must have come across many challenges
associated with writing. The term globalization describes a number of accelerating economic, cultural,
political, and historical and many other processes which are dramatically quickly changing our
society. Many writers who are trying the explain globalization focus mostly of one aspect of the term.
However, globalization is a set of interconnected social processes and the author Steger has realized it.
Therefore he explains many aspects in order to keep his readers constantly aware of the cooperation
between the individual processes which are responsible for globalization as a concept.
The book starts with deconstructing Osama bin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that globalization is a new phenomenon. However, Steger does not agree with this statement.
He claims that whether globalization constitutes a new phenomenon depends upon how far we are
willing to extend the chain of causation that resulted in those recent technologies and social
arrangements that most people have come to associate with fashionable buzzword. (Steger p.18) he
gives us examples of how cultural exchanges can be traced back to the prehistoric period. It began
when prehistoric tribes settled, created villages and were able to defeat or unified wandering tribes. It
continued within the premodern period and inventions such as a wheel which improved transportation
of people and goods and allowed better trade. Later with the early modern period with the rise of the
European centres, merchants, material accumulation and foundation of so called capitalism. The
modern period saw the Industrial Revolution and improvements in technology. Consequently, there is
the contemporary period and its worldwide interdependencies including economic, political or ICT

Medieval Weather Patterns
When exploring Europe, Medieval Europe comes to mind. During the Medieval times, the people
began to take on changes. Growth and recovery became major during these times, especially
agriculturally. Weather patterns, society, technological innovations, and agriculture all play important
roles to each other. When thinking weather patterns, one must think why would weather patterns play
a major role? Weather patterns in Europe changed drastically during the medieval years. Europe would
experience harsh, cold weather and warm weather. During the medieval times, the people had no
measuring systems. The people would use natural findings. Some of the natural findings were lake
sediment, arctic ice, tree rings, and any other things of nature. They also made predictions based on
the farmers techniques, cold springs meant late planting (Johnston, 2016b). Along with natural
findings, human behavior and society was also examined and held relations to weather patterns. ...

The society was split up into the clergy, aristocrats, and the commoners. The religious part of society
were the clergy people. The clergy followed the pope, the head of the church. The aristocrats were the
knights in the society, also known as the men of war (Spielvogel, 2013). And the last of the society are
the commoners. The commoners consisted of peasant farmers (Salisbury, 2016). The commoners
played the biggest role in relations to the weather. Since the commoners were the farmers, they were
affected more than the others. They would sometimes become rebellious and belligerent because of
the weather changes. The weather patterns caused some of the people to switch in moods. Despite the
affects the weather patterns had on the people, they began to become advance in

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Essay
A 54 year old patient named Rod suffered from severe depression since the age of 17. He tried many
combinations of therapy and medications for over 2 decades with no success, however, at the age of
53, Rod went to the Calabasa TMS Center for a three week TMS treatment, and his depression was
greatly improved. Now, he still attends therapy and a routine TMS treatment, and his depression is
cured. He spoke of the treatment in an interview with the center, TMS has eliminated the depression

an alternative treatment to medication for severely depressed persons that uses magnetic currents to

There are very few patients who discontinue treatment because of side effects, and side effects are rare
(Mennitto). Unlike other alternative treatments, TMS is very targeted, and is unlikely to cause seizures
(Fawcett).A TMS study conducted at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, showed a
positive success rate for a majority of the patients, with a small relapse rate (Achieve). The Calabasas
TMS Center, and many other TMS centers, provide many stories of patients who responded well to
treatment, like Rob (Success Story). Overall, TMS is a successful treatment option for the majorly
depressed who have not responded to prior treatment. It works by simulating the brain through
electromagnetic pulses, thus resetting the system. TMS alters neuronal activity in regions of the brain
specializing in mood regulation. As seen in Rob s story, this resetting of the system relieves depressive
symptoms, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a safe, FDA approved alternative to

The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable
John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English
countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the
artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the
city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were
brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life.
Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of
their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers.
From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s
properties that he had grown up on. Sloan, however, was more disposed to painting scenes he saw in
the city, usually involving people from many different walks of life. Even so, a great deal of affinity

The most prominent of these is the differences in composition between them. Constable uses a lower
perspective that is close to the ground in contrast to Sloan s bird s eye view. Constable s perspective
causes the viewer to feel like they are on the same level as the scene he s depicting, while Sloan s
angle causes the viewer to feel as if they are floating somewhere above, looking down on the scene.
Sloan s painting also has a lot more focus on the buildings in his picture; they are right in the
foreground, and they block out most of the view of the sky. The difference of focus can be seen as one
observes and compares that to the more prominent natural components in Constable s piece. The
buildings in his painting are more in the background and don t take up very much space in the picture
compared to the sky, grass, water, and trees surrounding

Junk Low Proteins
Proteins are either complete or incomplete. Those that are complete contain all the essential amino
acids, and dairy products fall into this category. Protein itself is a key macronutrient that helps repair
the tissues and cells in the human body. All dairy products contain protein, but some are higher than
others. The daily recommendation for protein intake is 0.8g per kilogram of body weight. Make this
determination by dividing your weight in pounds by 2.2 then multiplying by 0.8.

Anyone who advices you to eat more animal flesh for more protein and blood is of the old school,
since such nutritional advice would eventually make you SICK.
You are strongly encouraged to leave cows milk and dairy products alone because they would
eventually make you suffer one or more of the chronic diseases mentioned above. Cow milk is
designed to feed baby cows and once weaned, these cows do not chase other mother cows for milk.
Milk unfortunately causes loss of calcium from the bone osteoporosis, but we have been educated

The Old Regulations Regarding Statutory Reform
Executive Summary:
In conducting this report, it became clear that significant flaws were present with the old regulations
regarding statutory reform. These issues created audited financial statements which investors were
never fully confident with trusting, as well as creating many opportunities for the independence of
auditors to be compromised.
For this report, both group work for a presentation, as well as significant individual research went into
finding the relevant content for a comprehensive report. Concluding this report it is evident that the

Graphic Design And Advertising
Graphic Design and Advertising Positive Impact on Our World.
Vision is the art of seeing the invisible ( Jonathon Swift). We have been indulging in the arts and have
used art as a way to express and interact with the people surrounding us. To the carved images on
rocks, and to the cartoons shown on the TV, the evolution of Graphic Design has shown us the
importance of typography, photographers, illustrators etc. have on our society. When paper, ink, and
pencils didn t exist, our ancestors would carve their warnings, messages, and emotions on rocks and
walls. Our ancestors don t realize that such small acts such as these was the beginning of a huge
movement, that wouldn t be recognized until thousands years later. During the 16th century, China
was able to establish a technique called woodblock printing or, the application of ink on raised curved
surface, that allowed multiple text and images to be made quickly. China s wide extension of printing
slowly reached the middle east and caused Europe to start producing woodblock broadsides and
printed books. The first printing press was constructed by Johannes Gutenberg, which was the first
metal movable type to create a large amount of printed books. In the Old days books were very rare,
expensive and were very valuable. The creation of the Printing press allowed books to be done faster,
cheaper and it allowed books to be more accessible to the public. Graphic Design or the art or skill of

  • 2. What Speech Sounds Do You Expect That This Child Will Have... 1. What speech sounds do you expect that this child will have difficulty perceiving? Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th 2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why? I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range. Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds. 3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child s speech abilities and if so, how has this child s family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about them? Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing aids. It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of the time. In Julie s case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Environmental Issues Of The American Automotive Industry In conversations globally the environment is a hot topic. Issues with the ozone layer, depleting natural resources, and health risks associated with emissions and changes in climate coupled with its resulting natural disasters; have pushed conservation issues into the spotlight. The environmental issues presented today are not the result of one country, one type, or one industry actions but a communal failure of a mixture of several. With that said many countries and industries are going through policy changes to combat environmental issues that will hopefully benefit the environment, the consumer, and industries. One industry that is currently undergoing environmental challenges that call for changes is the American Automotive Industry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lower the miles per gallon (mpg) a vehicle has the greater the amount of fuel needed to reach destinations. Armed with this knowledge, the United States government, through various agencies, set forth a plan regulation to be followed by the industry in an attempt to lower vehicle emissions. On the heels of the 2011 fuel standards Cash for Clunkers that called for a reduction of emissions in heavy duty vehicles, the Obama Administration has introduced new fuel and emissions regulations and standards for the whole American Automotive Industry. These regulations, on light duty and heavy duty vehicles, that have been passed by the administration are a joint effort by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), The National program for greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Though there are various procedures the meat of the regulation is that by 2025 fleets of vehicles would need to get an average of 54.5 mpg. By doing this greenhouse gas emissions will be cut by almost 6 billion metric tons by 2025. This agreement was the first of its kind and garners support from 13 major automakers, which account for almost 90% of the auto producers in the U.S. The auto producers get a set national fuel standard and the nation gets less emissions. But as with all changes there are those who are happy and those who are not. Those encouraging the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scholar s conflict on the reason why Johnson s own party turned against him, some scholars attribute it to the growing number of antiwar constituents, while other scholars such as E.M. Schreiber, Burstein and Freudenburg cite the numerous deaths of American soldiers in combat. One democrat by the name of Eugene McCarthy labeled the entire Vietnam War as an error and describes the Johnson administration as misguided. McCarthy decides to run for President, but loses in the primaries by a slim margin to Johnson, further indicating that the antiwar movement was gaining significant momentum. In response to the tragedy and the Cambodia invasion, mass rallies were held in almost every major city in that month. The elite demographic, which includes doctors, lawyers and other professionals also flooded into Washington to display their opposition not only to the war but the increasing domestic violence. The incident dramatically affected Americans and it was further indicated through public opinion polls, which pointed blame towards the National Guard. To many Americans, the domestic upheaval following Cambodia and Kent State suggested that the country was becoming unhinged according to Melvin Small. Newspapers such as the New York Times suggested that the United States was as divided as it had been since the Civil War. Individuals that would identify themselves as pro war now felt that the war s cost in terms of domestic consequence outweighed the benefits of continuing the war. The White House was now in full damage control following the Kent State shootings. Public opinion polls showed a 31 percent approval for the war following the Kent State massacre. In response, White House officials anxiously discussed how to contain the uproar. According to David Anderson and John Ernst in their book titled, The War That Never Ends: Student Opposition to the Vietnam War, White House officials agreed that it was important to avoid steps that would further ... • 6. How Do Greek Gods And Goddesses Act Like Humans The gods and goddesses in Greek and Roman mythology don t actually behave like divine beings. They act more like humans with great power and authority. Even Jove, the ruler of all the gods, doesn t always act like a divine being. The gods and goddesses in Greek and Roman mythology act like humans, rather than divine beings. First, the gods have an unrighteous jealousy. For example, Jove has many wives and many sons and daughters by these wives. Jove s first wife, Juno, is very jealous of Jove s other wives. She is mean to the other wives; she even turns one of them into a bear. She also tries to kill some of the other wives sons, this is the case with Heracles, also known as Hercules. Juno sends two large snakes to kill Heracles, but he strangles them with his bare hands. On one occasion, Jove sends Juno, Minerva and Venus to a shepherd named Paris, who is told to choose the goddess who is the most beautiful. He chooses Venus, which makes Juno and Minerva very jealous. Paris is a Trojan, so during the Trojan war, both Juno and Minerva ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This happens multiple times in mythology. Pluto, god of the Underworld, carries off Proserpine and makes her his queen. Her mother Ceres goes looking her and discovers that she is in the Underworld. Jove doesn t completely release her because she eats a pomegranate while she is down there. As a result, she spends half the year with her mother and the other half with her husband Pluto. In another instance, Jove disguises himself as a bull and carries off Europa, daughter of King Agenor. The king sends his son Cadmus to search for Europa, though it doesn t mention if he ever finds her or not. Gods are not the only ones who carry people off. • 7. Caribbean Beach Take a second to close your eyes and envision yourself on a beach in the Caribbean islands. You are laying on the sand, a soft white powder that heats your body on contact. You hear the repeating rhythm of the majestically moving waves as they collide with the shore. The brisk smell of ocean air and the pulsing warmth of the sun wraps you in its arms like a mother swaddling her newborn. Now open your eyes and realize how at peace you are; Nature can bring you enlightenment, it can also be considered a religion or an oath to live by. We encounter nature in our everyday life. The cotton we wear, the food and water we consume, and the materials of our daily routine all originate from the earth. We cannot survive in our world without nature looking over us, providing us and influencing our habits. Although people say we are apart from nature, we are, in fact one with nature because we feel its presence in more ways than one. Many argue that mankind and Nature are separate entities. Humans have altered the already existing earth by creating a sort of utopia. The beaches are perfectly clean and would fit the criteria for an ideal getaway but none of that is in matter of fact nature. The beaches, for example, are made in order to create profit , therefore the image is not real. It s like coloring your hair, it can make you look more appealing but in reality it is damaging the hair. Palm trees are planted, unnatural erosion occurs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though some argue that as humans we cannot be a part of nature because all we do is harm it, the truth is that this is hypocrisy. If they continue to use and rely on natural materials daily they are going against their word. If we can say that we do not need water or food to survive, then it is okay to presume we are apart from Nature. Until that day comes, we might as well indulge in everything our Earth has to offer, and allow it to fabricate us into healthy, peaceful human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Atrial Fibrillation The heart is a complex yet delicate organ that operates the body on a regular basis. Without the heart the circulation system within the body would cease to exist; therefore, we would cease to exist. As with everything that is complex and works around the clock there are certain issues that can arise for example, atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is the result of an irregular or fast heartbeat this will often cause an inadequate circulation throughout the rest of the body. The atrium of the heart will not sync up to the ventricles causing an irregular or fast heartbeat. The episodes of atrial fibrillation can come and go or remain permanently and cannot usually be corrected without surgical intervention. This could be caused by hypertension, ... His work led to the evolution of radiofrequency energy catheters, which use radiofrequency energy to heat the catheter tip and perform a more precise ablation than what was possible with direct current ablation. (UCSF.(2012). When cardiac ablation is performed the surgeon is targeting the diseased conductive tissue once this is done, this will assist in correcting atrial fibrillation within the heart. These surgeries can be either minimally invasive or require an open surgical approach. Cardiac ablation is achieved through a cardiac catheter this delivers radiofrequency energy or cryoenergy to the defective area this is considered to be a minimally invasive approach. The electrophysiologist will insert a catheter into the femoral vein/artery and threads it to the right or left atrium and ventricle. They will then test different areas of the heart to try and reproduce dysrhythmia upon doing this they will then ablate the area of the heart where the disturbance takes place. Another alternative would be an open surgery known as a sternotomy approach this is where a midline incision is made in the sternum of the chest. Cannulation of the superior and inferior vena cava will then take place for a cardiopulmonary bypass. The surgeon will occlude the ascending aorta and infuse cardioplegic solution into the coronary arteries. Once this is done a right and left atriotomy is performed and the targets are ablated. The atriotomies are closed, the aorta is unclamped, cardiopulmonary bypass is stopped, cannulas are removed, chest tubes will be inserted at this time and the surgical wound is closed. Upon completion of the surgery the patient is taken to the PACU and monitored for heart rhythm issues as well as, bleeding, infection, or any other complications from the procedure. ( Fuller, J. • 9. The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital Essay The Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital was founded in 1910 by Annie Taylor Dee and her eight children as a tribute to their husband and father. The hospital was ready for occupancy on December 29, 1910. Unfortunately, by 1914 the Dee family could no longer provide the funding needed to operate the hospital. Financial appeals to keep the hospital open were made to the Weber County Commissioners and medical staff but to no avail to save the institution. The hospital was scheduled to close its doors on November 15, 1914. In an effort to save the hospital, Annie Taylor decided to write a letter to Elder David O. McKay, a member of the quorum of twelve apostles of the LDS Church, to petition for his help. Elder McKay held a meeting with members of the first presidency and presiding bishopric where they decided it would be a calamity for the hospital to close and were able to establish a plan to save the institution by bringing the hospital into the LDS Church Hospital System (intermountainhealthcare.org). Hospital growth and accomplishments followed in the next thirty years. As time passed, the growth of the hospital required a new facility be constructed. It was suggested that the new hospital be called McKay Dee Hospital to honor David O. McKay. It became an institution of healing on July 12, 1969. On November 10, 1971 The Thomas D. Digestion Reactions Lab Report Gas Production in Relation to Combustion Reactions Introduction Chew, swallow, digest, and pass: these may not seem like anything other than simple functions, but they are very important when it comes to the process of digestion, as well as, the environment. This is because all of these actions relate to the subject of gas production. Reactions in which gasses are formed take place in many aspects of the natural world. Whether it is within the atmosphere or within the body. A gas that is a perfect example for both of these situations is CO2. In relation to biological function, CO2 is produced by internal combustion reactions. An important example of this bacteria is Lactobacillus Acidophilus, commonly referred to as L. acidophilus (Robertson, 2017). It is of the Gram positive species and the Lactobacillus genus (Hammes, n.d.). It can be located in large amounts in the small intestine, where it assists in the fermentation of indigestible carbohydrates and the production of lactic acid (Williams, n.d.). Another microbial bacteria that produces lactic acid is Bifidobacterium longum. This bacteria is of the Bifidobacterium genus and the Gram positive species (Dority, 2017). • 12. Ex Machina And Frankenstein Throughout history, people have made works of art both praising and criticizing the development of science and technology. The novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, shows an older form of this type of work, while the film, Ex Machina, shows the modern version of this. In both of the stories a new being is created, and while in the film the consequences of creating life are somewhat more thought out, both result in the deaths of the creators and others. This paper is going to analyze how different aspects of these two pieces compare including: their characters, their stories, and the themes or morals of the works. Both Frankenstein and Ex Machina involve realizing the complexities of life. They highlight the strengths and weaknesses of man, and warn of the advancements of the sciences. While neither are outright saying that science and advancement is a bad thing, they warn of the consequences of new technologies as well as the lack of understanding and planning. In the end, both of these stories warn and teach the reader or viewer about the shortcomings of mankind. While there are a few differences, the characters and the messages conveyed by them in the works, Ex Machina and Frankenstein, are generally very similar. In both of these works, the reader or viewer s opinion of the different characters and their actions changes as they are developed. It was found that executives who were female, represented 8.2 per cent of the study sample, earnt approximately 22.58 per cent less in base salary compared to men during the same sample period (Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 787). In today s society and the society in which Frankenstein is set, people often judge one another solely based on appearance. Social prejudice is often based on looks. Today s schools are a prime example of this as people are classified instantly and almost unknowingly. There s a lot of hate around here, Gentry Robler, 16, a sophomore at Santana High.
