School Desegregation
Throughout the history of America issues around race have brought great debate and augments.
Being a nation birth from ideals of freedom and undeniable human rights America has failed in
being truthful to its founding. The treatment of African American is an atrocity that stains the
history of our nation s past. Steps have been made to heal the injustice, but they are just steps. In
this essay, I will be discussing school desegregation focusing on the landmark and controversial
Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Educationand the effect is had on the nation and even
the world. Many people ignore the fact school segregation has not been fixed. The Supreme Court

against the State of Minnesota because of the injustice and segregation of school. It accused the
State of Minnesota has allowed the schools of Minneapolis and St. Paul to become hyper
segregated and with this hyper segregation unequal opportunities in the classroom. The plaintiffs in
the civil action lawsuit Alejandro Cruz Guzman, et. al. v. State of Minnesota et. al. are the parents
and children in the Minneapolis Public Schools and St. Paul Public Schools. In the civil action suit,
the defendants were the State of Minnesota and many head government officials in the Minnesota
Department of Education and other elected officials. The main claims of the plaintiffs were that the
segregated and unequal schools break the Education Clause of the constitution of Minnesota which
required the state to give all students equal public education. Along with breaking the Constitution
of Minnesota, the segregated schools of Minneapolis and St. Paul violate the Minnesota Human
Rights Act, which states it is unlawful to discriminate education on base of race and socioeconomic
standing. The inaction of the State of Minnesota is a violation of the rights of the children of
Minneapolis and St. Paul. Segregation in the Twin Cites and the surrounding suburbs is undeniable
and is unfair to the victims of segregation, the

The Death Of Two ( The Great Gatsby )
The death of two (The Great Gatsby)
The auburn hued leaves crunched with every miserable footstep. They scattered the ground in a
haphazard manner, not dissimilar to the state of the thoughts swirling through the mind of the lone
man, disconsolate and determined to regain a semblance of balance in his life. He strode
purposefully towards his vengeful destination. With his worn out greased overalls and his intrinsic
grey flat cap, he passed through the elaborate, elite fields of West Egg, also known as the land of
new money , embarking towards this mansion.
Located at the very end of West Egg, bordering the sound, rested the extravagant white mansion.
Stealthily, he moved towards his target, Jay Gatsby. For all George Wilson was concerned, he had
been contemplating whether or not this man was responsible for the tragic death of his beloved
wife, Myrtle. He walked further: to within the rear of the luxurious pearl white mansion. An old
piano, sat as to enamel Gatsby s supposedly elite position. Gatsby s abode was embellished with
unique russet velvety walls and glazed coffee wooden floorboards. After Wilson s entrance, via an
unlocked rear door, he imagined himself taking a drink with his girl in such a fine room, but that
possibility did not exist. This man named Gatsby had ruined it all for him.
George was a simple kind of guy. He always dreamed of living in West Egg with his wife; he
wanted the best for Myrtle. Wilson removed a crystal clear glass from a coffee table

Conflict Management Style With Others
Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with others, be it;
personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate to the conflict.
Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of
your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It
helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal
conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the
middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More
frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and
resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . (Steve
A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about us as humans. It is an
important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living a healthy life. Our particular path
decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could be resolved quickly with everyone feeling
content. However, our non verbal behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is
usually related to unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). I participated in a conflict
management style quiz that was created by Reginald Adkins to see what style I followed. The style
that I tend to follow is Harmonizing.

Hegemony Model Of Political Discourse
The next example worth looking at is another cartoon by Bengough entitled Renewing The Lease
(See Fig.2). The context of this cartoon was that though John A. Macdonald had resigned, he
launched a new campaigning in the 1878 election with his signature policy platform, the National
Policy , which was centred on Protectionism (e.g. tariffs on American manufacturing goods) the
completion of the CPR ( Scandals and Changes. Par. 24). In addition to scandals, elections also
provide an opportunity to discuss the influence the press has in politics, not as representatives of
popular political sentiments, but of private political ambitions. The political cartoon is a powerful
device in this situation as through its seemingly innocuous humour,... Show more content on

The background of this cartoon was that, despite the surmounting allegations of Ford s
inappropriate and potentially illegal activities, he maintained a considerably strong base of
supporters known as Ford Nation . Despite the size of Ford s political base, the cartoon attempts
to satirize them for their unwavering support. Indecently, the side of the cartoon they are placed
on could very well be interpreted as a subtle way of critiquing right wing populists as a whole.
With this in mind, the couple on the left (in both senses of the word) would then represent what
the cartoonist would propose to be the mainstream voting population. This cartoon would then be a
clear example of an incorporation resistance struggle between the two political communities where
the presumably dominant left (seen as rational and responsible voters) subsumes the subordinate
right into their political narrative by oversimplifying their ideological significance to an absurd
faction in Torontonian politics with an unreasonable allegiance to a corrupt yet celebrity like
mayor. Considering the central image of the billboard, the cartoon could also be taken to be a
critique of the legal system as the fact that Rob Ford has not been arrested for his illegal dealings.

Relationship Between The Stamp And Currency Act
Before the American Revolution, Great Britain ruled its colonies in North America. The ruling
government imposed strict taxes via its acts of parliament. Most of these taxes raised revenue for
the British troops and settling debts arising from the Indian and French war (1756 1753). This
paper provides details of the Stamp and Currency Acts.
The Stamp Act
On March 22, 1765, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act which became effective on
November 1, 1765. This act implemented a direct tax requiring the colonies to use stamped papers
on all printed materials (George). The printed materials had a revenue stamp to facilitate tax
collection. Colonies paid the stamp tax using the British currency. The colonies used paper money
that could not pay the stamp tax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The printed materials included newspapers, legal documents, and magazines among others. On
April 1763, George Grenville became British prime minister replacing John Stuart ( Stamp Act 1765
). Grenville appointed distributors of the stamp in the colonies, some of them included local
colonists. George Grenville initiated the Stamp Act.
The act faced a hostile reception where residents of major colonies protested against the act and
aired their concerns. Stamp distributors were in serious trouble. For instance, protesters hung
Andrew Oliver on an elm tree on August 14, 1765. He distributed stamps in Massachusetts.
Violence continued in critical colonies such as Rhodes Island and New York.
On October 1765, representatives from different colonies met in New York to discuss on
petitioning the Stamp Act. The meeting was known as the Stamp Act Congress. The
representatives provided proof that the parliament did not have the right to tax them. Meanwhile,
protests continued, and so many people lost their lives ( Stamp Act 1765 ). On March 18, 1766,
the royal assent repealed the act.

Unit 2.7m Carty Meats Project
The €6.7m Carty Meats project involved a 3,720m2 extension to the existing factory. This
was my first exposure to CFA piled foundations. I led a successful value engineering exercise to
change the basement and exterior retaining walls specifications from RC concrete to precast
concrete, saving valuable time on the construction programme and reducing H S risks during
construction. I co ordinated the logistical planning for the 324m3 basement concrete pours and
643m3 ground floor slab. The external retaining wall was over 5m high, I was involved in the
design by Sisk to tie the wall to the back fill material. Dowel bars were chemically fixed to the wall
and welded to A393 steel mesh which was incorporated into a poured screed on top of the backfill
every metre. I prepared the O M manuals and project handover files.

The Break Up Analysis
Whether you eat a whole tub of chocolate ice cream while crying or you party like a rock star all
weekend while drinking, a break up is a break up. If you re the person who eats a whole tub of
chocolate ice cream, you probably accompanied it with romantic movies. Although they are
comforting for the time being, they always leave you to wonder, why didn t my break up didn t
have a happy ending like the ones in the movies? In Peyton Reed s 2006 romantic comedy, The
Break Up, it portrays the realistic events and feelings of a failed relationship. In comparison to
other romantic comedies, this film seems to stand out because it teaches the audience the lesson
that not all break ups leads to make ups.
In The Break Up, the main purpose is to show the realistic events of a toxic relationship between
Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn
). Brooke is a very classy art dealer and Gary, in
Brooke s eyes, is just a tour bus driver. The first scene shows how the couple met a Chicago Cubs
baseball game and Brooke was actually on a date with another man. The scene ended with Gary
asking her to go out sometime and the following scene is a slide show of all of Brooke and Gary
s pictures together, portraying that even perfect relationships have their own issues. The couple has
a big argument right off the bat in the third scene, Brooke feels neglected and unappreciated by
Gary. On the other hand Gary, feels that Brooke is controlling, a perfectionist, and he can never

Iso Files For Intel Based Pcs
Where to Get the Official Kali Linux Images
ISO Files for Intel based PCs
In order to run Kali Live from a USB drive on standard Windows and Macintosh PCs, you ll need a
Kali Linux bootable ISO image, in either 32 bit or 64 bit formats.
If you re not sure of the architecture of the system you want to run Kali Linux on, on Linux or OS
X, you can run the command
uname m at the command line. If you get the response, x86_64 , use the 64 bit ISO image (the one
containing amd64 in the file name); if you get i386 , use the 32 bit image (the one containing
i386 in the file name). If you re on a Windows system, the procedure for determining whether your
system is 32 or 64 bit is detailed on Microsoft s site.
The images are available both as directly downloaded .iso files or via torrent files.

Over the years I ve seen many changes in real estate investing. Currently, I m seeing a subtle but oh
so ever present transition in real estate investing. It involves a shift in the way folks think about
their real estate investment, a movement towards being more dispassionate, a movement away
from qualitative and being more focused on the quantitative. Folks historically look at property
differently than they do other investments. They look at their rental properties with the same
viewpoint that they look at their home, with some pride of possession.
You would not look on your technology stock with pride of possession, unless maybe it was
Apple stock and you used to be a Macophile. But with real estate, there has a tendency to not only
take pride in your properties, but to extend the stock analogy a buy and hold mind set.
What I am both seeing and recommending is a shift away from that. For one thing, if you go into
RE investing with that disposition, it will break your heart. You can not think about investment

Comparing Donatello s David And Goliath
The story of David and Goliath is inspirational. It is about a courageous shepherd called David,
who s rescued Israel by defying a colossal giant called Goliath and killing him with a slingshot and
a bag of stone rocks. Donatello and Gianlorenzo Bermini made each a sculpture showing David.
Each sculpture differs from each other starting with material, size, and style. One important thing to
consider is the material used to create these statues. Donatello s Davidis nude and made of bronze.
Definitely, Donatello made it to history with this first male free standing statue that was entirely
unsupported, also Donatello captured the emotions in the statue. Whereas, Bernini s David is
half clothed and made of Marble, also the energy seen on donatello s David is not projected on
bermini s David. Bermini was more of an action men, and projected David with an ideal body.
Donatello s David is shown more weak and incapable of causing the killing of a giant. I would say
Donatello s sculpture is more realistic than the idealization statue of Bermini s David.... Show more

Donatello s David measurements are about 5 feet and 2.25 inches .While Bermini s David is at

was more life size statue. They both had different styles and were made in different stages in life,
for example Donatello s David was made during the Renaissance period, whereas, Bermini s David
was made during the Baroque period. Which have a lot to do with the way they sculptured David

Welfare Causes Poverty in America Essay
There seems to be an increase in poverty in the United States and there are so many theories
behind why this might be a problem. It seems as if Society as a whole wants to blame this social
condition on Society itself. I believe that the problem of poverty lies within the actual individuals
that are experiencing poverty. There are a few reasons why people experience poverty. They are
as follows: One, the liberal welfare programs that were started in the 1960 s, two, individualslack
the characteristicof power and individuality, three, anti social behaviorand the idea that poverty
passes from one generation to the next. The liberal welfare programs were started in the 1960s to

It seems as if they were unable to say no to the provided or shall I say free support and unable to
say yes to the ability to gain and be able to support their selves. It was so much easier to have
someone to do it for them. Not only did they lack integrity but they lacked the power and
confidence needed to make it on their own. These individuals knew that the government has
been and will continue to support them so they became even lazier. These individuals became
lazy and began to involve themselves with only individuals of the sort, which developed into
anti social behavior. Once the anti social behavior sets in we can t train these individuals to
assimilate into society, we can t train these people to be like you and me. We can t train these
people to be normal. I classify normal as someone who is willing to support or at least try to
support themselves on a regular basis. If I can work to support me, my family and you why can t
you work to support you , this includes your family also. Children are indeed a product of their
environment.
Being a product of your environment can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing depending on
your environment. In the eyes of poverty I do believe that it is a bad thing because poverty seems
to be passed on from generation to generation. You can t expect the next generation to be any better
than the last when they aren t able

Religious Connotation In Life Cycle By Bruce Dawe
With consumerism overtaking society, religious expression is also one of the key aspects that
Dawe comments on in Australian society. Bruce Dawe demonstrates this through figurative
language and the use of religious connotations through his poem, Life Cycle . Dawe shows his
readers that sport in Australian has an impact on society; he simply suggests this through the use of
archaic language, beribboned cots, as it formalises and elevates the tone of the poem. In this poem
Dawe communicates to the responder that the religionof Victoria is football. He demonstrates that
even in infancy football is infused into life, Carn... Carn... as the readers would read this as, Come

From Giovanni Pancari s Migration To America
In 1935 my great great grandfather named Giovanni Pancari immigrated from Italy to America
by a ship named the Saturnia and arrived in Ellis Island. The streets were always crowded in
Manhattan which was where most Italian immigrants lived in 1935. Other locations are the
Bronx, Brooklyn, and nearby towns in New Jersey. In Manhattan, Mulberry Street was heavily
populated with Italian culture. Many people spoke Italian and owned Italian shops. Working
conditions were horrible and had very low wages. Child labor was common and the children
could work in factories, mines, farms, and as newspaper sellers. The men that worked usually
received $2 a day which was just enough to survive on. If children and women worked they would

A Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti )
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection involving any part of the urinary system, which
includes the urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidneys. UTIs are the most common type of healthcare
associated infection (HAI). Between 15 25% of hospitalized patients receive urinary catheters
during their hospital stay (Drekonja, 2010, p. 31). A urinary catheter is a drainage tube that is
inserted into the bladder through the urethra. A catheter associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI)
occurs when bacteria enters the urinary tract through the catheter and causes infection. Common
signs of UTIs are urgency, frequency and dysuria. These voiding symptoms will not be present in
patients with indwelling catheters. Symptoms that may help classifying a CAUTI would be fever
or hypothermia, suprapubic tenderness, or costovertebral angle pain or tenderness (Tillekeratne,
2014, p. 13). Catheter associated urinary tract infections cause increased healthcare costs, length of
stay, morbidity, and mortality. Infections can be acquired in many ways such as, on insertion of the
catheter via cross contamination or accidental catheterization into the vagina, not ensuring aseptic
technique, catheter care and maintenance, and cross contamination when emptying the drainage
bags. There are many ways to decrease the risk of catheter associated UTIs and nurses play a major
role in reducing these risks in order to prevent harm and save lives. To improve clinical care and

Phanerozoic Eras
The earth has been around for 4.6 billion years, and over this time 99.9% of all of the species that
have existed on earth have gone extinct. (Barnosky, et al) Palaeontologists characterize mass
extinctions as times in Earth s history when the Earth loses more than three quarters of its species
in a geologically short period of time. This has occurred 5 times over the past 540 million years,
and scientists are now suggesting it is happening a 6th time. We are in the midst of a sixth mass
extinctionthat has the potential to wipe out many species of importance, and humans have a
profound impact on it.
Essentially, there have been 5 mass extinctions during the history of life on earth. (Wake,
Vredenburg) And, the time the earth has existed has been divided up into eons, eras, periods, and
epochs based on the geologic strata of that age. (Impey) There are two eons, the Pre cambrian and
the Phanerozoic. In the Pre cambrian there are 3 eras, the Haydean, Archean, and the Proterozoic.
In the Phanerozoic, there are the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic Eras. In the Paleozoic, there
are seven periods, the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Mississippian, Pennsylvanian, and
Permian. Then for Mesozoic there are three periods, Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous. In the ... Show

Chapter Notes On The Night Essay
Chapter 1: The encounter It seemed to be another typical day. Windy, but warm. I honestly
thought today couldn t get interesting at all. Until I met Wisp and the angels. I was in the park, just
sitting on the bench reading my book when I began to hear a strange whirring noise. I looked up
from my book to see a what seemed to be a police box. It wasn t there before... and this is Georgia!
Not England. I saw the doors begin to open and I shoved my face back in my book. After about a
minuet I heard footstep coming closer to me. I looked up to see a woman who seemed to be about
20 years old in front of me. She had short dark brown hair with a pink flower in it. She also wore a
lab coat that seemed to be a bit large for her with a pair of glasses in a pocket and a pink scarf the
same color as the flower. Excuse me but... what year is it? She asked me. Um... 2016. I
responded with a confused tone. Who was this lady and how does she not even know the year?
2016... quite a year if I do say so myself! She said excitedly. Well... thank you! She then walked

The Socratic Seminars
One topic that went quite unexplored during the Socratic Seminars was how we all individually
incorporated quotes seamlessly into our essays. As a result, I would like point out that there are
multiple ways to seamlessly fit quotes into sentences, such as informing the reader about how the
character feels about the event, what exactly the character is talking about, and beginning the
sentence containing the quote with paraphrasing. For example, I included as an example in my
essay, Secondly, Ashleigh questions her father s plan on page 4 of Ashes, That s a lot of money.
What if Mom finds out? I inform the reader as to how Ashleigh is feeling about her father s plan.
It s simple for the reader to see that Ashleigh is skeptical about

I Watched It Die By Teresa Sandoval
She watched it die.
At the top of her apartment complex, above families and lovers, perched a figure on the ledge of
the rooftop. It stood above layers of humanity in that complex, liveliness indicated by the lights
shining through the different curtains and blinds covering most of the windows of the complex.
The figure stepped closer to the edge, its head turned to Teresa Sandoval. The silhouette reminded
her of a woman: the harsh wind pulled back its hair and a sheet cascaded down the building.
The smell of red wine and smoke stung her eyes. Teresa stood underneath the one working
streetlight on the entire street: all the other lights flickered. As the figure moved closer to the
edge, the lights flickered even more. The buzzing grew louder. Teresa s cheeks were red from the
alcohol she had downed only fifteen minutes earlier and the cold wind slapping against her cheeks.
She leaned against the pole, her burning eyes still fixed on the shadow as it halted right up to the
ledge. She glanced quickly at the pavement in front of her then right up to the figure. The moon
shone brightly behind the figure, long black hair illuminated. As it walked closer, the lights behind
the windows at the feet of the figure were killed. She felt like she was at a shootout with an
unknown enemy. She pretended the sweat slicking her neck was from the hot desert air, that her
eyes were stinging from the sand flying to her face. Teresa scratched her wrist, a habit of hers when

Persuasive Speech On Cell Phones
Did you know that the cancer government, the federal communications commission s says that
hundreds of millions of Americans uses cell phones, and cell phones can cause you to have
brain tumors? Did you also know that both adults and children spend most of their time on
phone? When using your phone, it might give you a neck problem because in respect to cancer,
concern focuses on whether cell phones might increase the risk of brain tumors in the head and
neck area. But let me tell you something, as many of us use our phones daily, do we ever stop and
think it might affect our body? No because we are so into social media and playing games that
we don t have time to think that it s going to affect us. People say that phones are safe and other
say they aren t. I say that they can be safe at some time it can also depend what you do, and how
long you use it for. Therefore, many of us get distracted easily and it s pretty hard to get back on
track. In 1973, the first portable cell phone was discovered, due to the cause that cell phones
may not be safe at some time cell phones are also very important because in case of an
emergency you will have a device with you. A second argument is that, do children those that are
under age of 10 necessarily have to own a device? How is it even right for children to use
electronicsat their age? Whenever am outside and when I pass by kids using electronics, their
little fingers tapping on that pricey miniature screen instead of holding the hands of their parents
or whoever else is accompanying them. But now, many kids ignore us and focus on their
electronics, and this is not fair. About an hour or two is fine for them. But what I had realize
when am in parties is that their parents give their little kids electronics so the adults can have fun
and drink. This is the argument that I trip about because you shouldn t give a kid an electronic
instead you should take your kids to the park or something, keep them distracted from an electronic
that can ruin their vision. Another thing that I realize is that half of you parents don t check what
your kids are doing and watching. Well this phone issue basically goes for everyone. But since kids

Comparing Tyram-James Rumble Fish And The Outsiders
Things are rough all over. S.E Hinton quoted in her book The Outsiders . Rumble Fish and The
Outsiders are both very similar books. Although there are many differences. Some major differences
between the main characters, Rusty James and Ponyboy, are love, strength, and confidence.
In both books, Rusty James and Ponyboy look up to and love their brothers greatly, but they
reveal their love separately. Rusty James expresses his love by trying to act just like his brother,
Motorcycle Boy. In other words, he acts cool, tough, and tries to be a leader. Ponyboy and his
brothers bond is so great that Ponyboy doesn t need to show much more love unlike Rusty James
and Motorcycle Boy.

Physical Contact In Olympic Hockey
Did you know that woman can t check or have any physical contact in olympic hockey! Hi I will
be showing you guys some similarities and differences between NHL hockey and Olympic hockey.
Here is some history about the sport of hockey, hockey is the oldest ball and stick game, it dates
back to 2000 BC in persia, the name hockey comes from the french hocquet or shepards crook
which is a crooked stick used to hit a ball, ice hockey was introduced into the olympics in 1920,
the first all women s team played in the 1998 olympics. Man that was some interesting
background history now we will move on to some events that are different between the two. In
the NHL there is no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd there can only be 1 winner unlike the olympic hockey you
can win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The awards are different too like in the NHL you win MVP(Most
valuable player), Stanley Cup, and the Conn Smythe Trophy, the player awarded for the conn
smythe trophy is the most valuable player for the season. There are 21 total trophies players can
get awarded arranging from MVP to the National cup. Did you know that Canada has won 8 gold
medals and is the current holder for most hockey medals in the olympics. Now i will be telling you
the differences in the rules ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rinks are 210 feet long and 98 feet wide. In the NHL teams can dress 18 players and 1 goalie on the
ice, but in the Olympics you can have 2 goalies on ice and dress 20 players, another weird rules
are goalies can t play the puck behind the net, if they do they will get a 2 minute minor for
goaltender infraction, but in the olympics goalies can play the puck behind the net. Now we will

Marywood s Core Values In What Teachers Make And A Good Man
I have decided to compare the novel A Good Man with the poem What Teachers Make because
both have similar and different ways of showing some of Marywood s Core Values. A Good
Man is about Mark Shriver and his father and how his father had done many good deeds while
alive. These good deeds inspired Mark to become the person he was. In the poem What Teachers
Make, it is merely about how a teacher tries to prove a point that all teachers in general have a
greater purpose than most people believe. Both are great pieces of writing that show three of
Marywood s Core Values: Respect, Empowerment, and Excellence. Although both pieces of
writing have a strong way of portraying respect, they are done in different ways. In Mark Shriver s
book A Good Man, Sargent Shriver and his wife show respect by reaching out to black people and
people with disabilities. Sargent would always find a way or people to stop being racist towards the
blacks and trying to treat them as equal as everyone else. The same goes for Sargent s... Show more

Both talk about the excellence achieved in their careers and lives. In Mark Shriver s book,
Sargent was known as a good man by basically everyone he knew. This was because Sargent
always did good deeds for others and was a very selfless person. He was a big inspiration to his
son and many others. There was not one person that hated him. This tells us that Sargent has lived
an excellent life with so many achievements and selfless acts. In Taylor Mali s poem, the narrator
explains that teachers are more than just someone who just teach because they need to make a
salary. The examples the narrator gives of him and how he helps students, shows that he is an
excellent teacher and that there are many more out there. He states that he actually tries to make a
difference which is the unique quality that many people tend to notice in great

Essay On Horse Slaughter
Horse slaughter and whether or not it should be legal in the US has been an ongoing debate.
Horse slaughter can be a touchy subject for people. People have very strong opinions about it
whether you are for it or against it. In this essay I will explain my views on the matter of Horse
slaughter in the US.
Horses have been a part of man s life for a very long time. The relationship between man and horse
first began at the time of the horse s domestication between 4000 and 3500 B.C. They have been
by our side to help us complete agricultural tasks as well as recreational uses for thousands of
years. While the USDA may classify the horse as livestock, many Americans consider the horse to
be something more along the lines of a companion animal.

Kleenmaid Group Case Study
I FACTS
The Kleenmaid Group was a retail whitegoods business which operated a chain of Group owned
and franchised stores across Australia. Each of the 14 companies within the Kleenmaid Group went
into voluntary administration and were placed into liquidation on 25 May 2009. Mr Andrew Young
(the Defendant) was a director of numerous Kleenmaid companies at the time of the collapse. The
Defendant pleaded not guilty to the following charges:
Count 1 Westpac Fraud
Counts 2 to 19 Insolvent Trading
Count 20 Dishonest Transfer
The Crown case in relation to the Westpac fraud is that the Defendant dishonestly acquired a loan
of $13 million for a Kleenmaid company called EDIS Services Logistics Pty Ltd in November
2007. In relation to the insolvent trading counts, the Crown contends that, during a period from mid
2008 until before the collapse, the Defendant dishonestly failed to prevent EDIS Services Logistics
Pty Ltd from trading while it was insolvent. Finally, the Crown claims that the Defendant committed
a further dishonest act, by causing $330,000 to which the creditors of the Kleenmaid Group were
entitled to be transferred to an entity of which the Defendant was a shareholder.

The Role Of Fate And Fate In The Aeneid Vergil
Throughout The Aeneid Vergil addresses a number of themes, one of which is the role of fate and
destiny in a person s life. As the story progresses, Vergil continue to reinforce the idea that Aeneas
fate is controlled by Gods as opposed to his own actions. Vergil opens with an explanation of Juno s
anger and the conflict between the Gods; this introduction suggests that, although the story is
primarily about Aeneas, the Gods will continue to play an integral role shaping the story. This is
furthered reinforced by the fact that Juno hates Trojans; her hatred foreshadows Aeneas gruesome
fate, as he is a Trojan. After book 1, the role of the gods only becomes more clear as Aeneas
begins to experience direct interaction with external forces, all of whom encourage Aeneas to do
something, whether it be fleeing or leaving Dido. The fact that the Gods order Aeneas to do certain
actions clearly illustrate their role in determining Aeneas future, fortifying the idea that people do
not control their own fates. Books 4 and 6 both clearly illustrate the forceful role the Gods have in
determining a person s fate as well the lack of control a person has over their own destiny.
According to Vergil, we do not have control over our own destiny. Vergil has referenced this idea
multiple times throughout The Aeneid; in book 4, lines 330 361 are one instance when this concept
arises in the text. This passage follows the visit Mercury made to Aeneas, warning Aeneas that
Jupiter wanted him to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Refracting Telescope
Introduction: The refracting telescope or the refracting lense inside, is really useful at seeing
distant objects, making them appear larger and closer then it actually is, for e.g, it is mostly used
for astronomers to look around space, having an eye on most planets.
What happens when the light travels from one medium to the other: The light travels everywhere,
hitting everything and at the same time reflecting at a certain angle.. When speed of light is
normally being discussed, it is mostly being referred to its maximum speed that it can hit, and that
is the speed of light in a vacuum. Having no air or any other mediums, the light has no obstacles,
letting it free to go everywhere at its speed, which is 3.00 x 108 m/s. When an medium ... Show

Especially when wanted to be build in larger size and larger lense. The cost of the refracting
telescope runs to about $500 to $2000 per inch of the objective lense.
Another disadvantage is that the refracting telescope don t focus the colours very well because the
light just bounces of and creates different colours that are just bending and refracting
everywhere, focusing different colours at different points. Makes it really hard to make it to focus
and to bring them all together and see the proper colorful picture that is wanted. This is also known
as chromatic aberration. This could be solved by using the coated lenses to reduce this problem to
the minium.
If the lense is a bit more thicked, most light won t even be able to breach through, as well as not
giving in any colours to create the virtual or the real image.
Advantages:
The refracting telescope lense doesn t need much cleaning as they are very well sealed inside its
build.
After the first alignment, they are really needed to be re done since they are more resistant to the

How Is Henry David Thoreau A Transcendentalism
Henry David Thoreau
Being unique has always been valued in modern American Culture. Especially in the age of
smartphones and social media, people are encouraged to take the untrodden path. In the 1800s,
being unique was not as popular as it is today. People with different views than the majority, were
seen as not ideal. Henry David Thoreau s writing and abolitionist views pushed the boundaries that
surrounded the ways of protesting, writing, and thinking during his time. He was a
Transcendentalist that took different approaches on ways he looked at nature and society. His
works and actions inspired passionate and revolutionary reformers such as Martin Luther King Jr.

Child Protective Service And Mental Health Problems Essay
Introduction Being able to cope within a family is very important. Family members can cause
great strain on each other, especially, when individuals of such family suffer from mental health
problems and disability. After reading Andrea s case study, it is very clear that this family has a
lot going on. A mother and father who are both unemployed as mom suffers from anxiety and
depression, which have led her to be hospitalized a few times due to attempting suicide and dad
who is now 33 years old and had an accident at the age of 14 which left him with only one good
functioning hand. They raise a son by the name of Vincent, who is now 9 years old, however, he
is autistic and also suffers from chronic asthma. Andrea has custody of Vincent furthermore, she
is unable to care for him because of her illness and with her many visits to the hospital which
have caused her to become hospitalized. This has left an impression on child protective service as
they feel she is an unfit mother because she is unable to control her illness. Even though Andrea
loves her son dearly, she is aware that with her conditions she might not be able to care for him,
even though Vincent was so attached to her. Vincent was eventually taken from her and place with
The Department of Child Protection in order to ensure his safety. One theory I believe can be
useful within this case study is FamilySystems Theory. This theory helps families to understand the
root of their problem rather than blaming the issue

Essay about Analysis on Movie Water
CRITICAL ANALYSIS ON MOVIE WATER by Nadzirah Nur
In my opinion, Deepa Mehta is a courageous and bold director to produce a movie Water which is
intended to affront the tradition and living style of Indians back then. She displays how every
character brings up almost perfectly similar kind of stance which is because of the doctrine and
beliefs that have been set in their minds for a long period of time. The practice inherited from one
generation to another generation which later becomes the tradition of Indian community. I could

Changes can be made at any time as long as it is for the sake of our happiness. However, how can
Indian women in this movie pursuit their happiness when they think they are deemed to suffer after
their husbands death as a symbol of devotion to husband?
Frederick and Mary (2012) documented on their blogs regarding Deepa s response upon the
significance of water in this movie. Deepa said,
Water can flow or water can be stagnant. I set the film in the 1930s but the people in the film
live their lives as it was prescribed by a religious text more than 2000 years old. Even today,
people follow these texts, which is one reason why there continue to be millions of widows. To me,
that is a kind of stagnant water. I think traditions should not be that rigid. They should flow like
replenishing kind of water.
I personally agree that traditions should not be rigid. It can be changed as long as we never
forsake our solid ground, forgetting of who we are and where we are from. We are born to seek
and to create a better life, guided by religions to ensure that we do not go astray. If accepting
changes are simply called defiance, what should women oppression be called? I am clueless. On
the other hand, I understand that water is the element of purity in this movie. It is shown that all
Indians come to the bank of Ganges River to clean their bodies from sins or bad luck in particular.

How Does Malcolm X s Influence On Religion
It was an absolutely fascinating to read about this man s life his upbringing, life of crime,

which his attitude toward the White race changed near to end of his life. Malcolm X or El Hajj
Malik al Shabazz was not the history to the world but he is our proud and someone whom we
should learn something from. His courage and firm belief in Islam is something really amazing I
must say. I believe that all he did was talk.
Among the gists that I have learnt from his story are the fact that he learnt a lot from his past
experiences and his surroundings. All the exposure and racial pride and anger that went with it
has lead him to educate and reconstructed himself and also lead him to get involve with the
Nation. I totally believe that his attitudes, personality and charismatic values is shaped from all
the life experiences that he had gone through. For example, he learnt to be heard and recognized

Courage is defined as the quality of mind or spirit enabling one to meet danger or opposition with
fearlessness. According to Atticus Finch, one of the main characters in To Kill a Mockingbird
,
Courage is when you know you re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and you see it

When Atticus took the case, he went up against Maycomb, a generally prejudiced town, in order
to defend Tom. He understood that taking the case would make him an object of ridicule and that
no one would forgive him for believing a black man s word over a white man s. Even his own
sister expresses disapproval at his decision, practically telling him he was bringing disgrace to the

Standing up for his morals and ethics was more important than what people thought about him.
From the very start Atticus knows he will not win the case however he does his job and finishes

Atticus s strong sense of morality and justice motivates him to defend Tom Robinson with

John Smith believed that success in such adventures requires individual initiative and commitment.
His journey began working with his dad in his shop up until the age of 16. After his father had

The Ottoman Empire and Judaism
The reason the Jews went to the Ottoman Empire was because the Christians persecuted them
because of their different beliefs. The Jews were so scared of what the Christians might do they
wanted to settle in a safer place which the Ottomans offered them. The Ottomans offering them land
was the best thing the Jewscould have asked for. The Ottomans offered the Jews protection, offered
them communal autonomy and tolerated their religious practices. The Ottomans at the time had a
rule about non Muslims having to pay a tax, which is called the Jitza. The Muslims considered
Jews and Christians dhimmi or the people of the pact. The dhimmi we issued to pay the jitza, and
where forced to follow these rules; prohibition against carrying fire arms, against riding horses,
against building new houses or worship or even repairing old ones, against proselytism, against
building homes higher than Muslim ones, and they must wear distinctive clothing. Even after all of
these rules the Jewish community still thrived in the Ottoman Empire. The population of Jews in the
Ottoman Empire was very distinct and was coming from different places. The most noticeable and
most studied among the Jews in the Ottoman Empire were the Sephardim. The Sephardim had great
political and cultural influence on the Ottoman Empire. The Jews became very valuable to the
Ottomans because of the ties they had with Europe. Europeans brought new languages and

The Bayeux Tapestry was produced shortly after the Conquest of England in 1066. Shichtman
writes that throughout the Middle Ages both churchmen as well as secular writers were attempting
to come to terms with a conception of time and history still undergoing revision. This Tapestry tries
to grapple with recording history in the Middle Ages, as it details the Story of William the
Conqueror defeating Harold the Earl of Wessex at the Battle of Hastings. While the Tapestry depicts
numerous men, who participated in this historical event, the artist only include six women in the
Tapestry. This essay will examine how the female figures depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry
relate to
how women were viewed in society following the Conquest. I will formally... Show more content

Kraus states that as for the woman merchant, all legislation of the Middle Ages concurred in
granting her full civil status, even if married. And the artisan s wife paid her own poll tax, and
Kraus continues later that there was equal division of his possessions between male and female
descendants was a right that was written into most communal charters. Women lived as equal
members in society if they worked or had land. These charters provided women with wider
aspirations in an otherwise male dominated society. The Doomsday Book recorded that three
hundred and fifty women held land in the time of Edward the Confessor. Henrietta Leyster
records how a Yorkshire woman named Asa held her land separate and free from the lordship
and power of Bjornulfr her husband, even when they were together, so that he could neither give
it, nor sell it, nor forfeit it. After their separation, she withdrew from her land and possessed it as a
lady. In order for a woman to keep her privileges, she must first have land. This was only the case
for Anglo Saxon women, as Anglo Norman women could not make wills or hold land. After the
Conquest, however, women gained equal rights with men, as they both lost the right to bequeath

Being a nation birth from ideals of freedom and undeniable human rights America has failed in being truthful to its founding. The treatment of African American is an atrocity that stains the history of our nation s past. Steps have been made to heal the injustice, but they are just steps. In this essay, I will be discussing school desegregation focusing on the landmark and controversial Supreme Court case of Brown v. The plaintiffs in the civil action lawsuit Alejandro Cruz Guzman, et. al. v. State of Minnesota et. al. are the parents and children in the Minneapolis Public Schools and St. Paul Public Schools. In the civil action suit, the defendants were the State of Minnesota and many head government officials in the Minnesota Department of Education and other elected officials. The main claims of the plaintiffs were that the segregated and unequal schools break the Education Clause of the constitution of Minnesota which required the state to give all students equal public education. Along with breaking the Constitution of Minnesota, the segregated schools of Minneapolis and St. Paul violate the Minnesota Human Rights Act, which states it is unlawful to discriminate education on base of race and socioeconomic standing. They scattered the ground in a haphazard manner, not dissimilar to the state of the thoughts swirling through the mind of the lone man, disconsolate and determined to regain a semblance of balance in his life. He strode purposefully towards his vengeful destination. With his worn out greased overalls and his intrinsic grey flat cap, he passed through the elaborate, elite fields of West Egg, also known as the land of new money , embarking towards this mansion. Located at the very end of West Egg, bordering the sound, rested the extravagant white mansion. Stealthily, he moved towards his target, Jay Gatsby. For all George Wilson was concerned, he had been contemplating whether or not this man was responsible for the tragic death of his beloved wife, Myrtle. He walked further: to within the rear of the luxurious pearl white mansion. An old piano, sat as to enamel Gatsby s supposedly elite position. Gatsby s abode was embellished with unique russet velvety walls and glazed coffee wooden floorboards. After Wilson s entrance, via an unlocked rear door, he imagined himself taking a drink with his girl in such a fine room, but that possibility did not exist. This man named Gatsby had ruined it all for him. George was a simple kind of guy. He always dreamed of living in West Egg with his wife; he wanted the best for Myrtle. • 5. Conflict Management Style With Others Conflict Management Style When considering your conflict management style with others, be it; personal or professional, we tend to use the style that seems appropriate to the conflict. Managing conflict is a difficult task that we all face during our life time, but becoming aware of your own characteristic style could help determine why conflicts result exactly the way they do. It helps determine what is a healthy outcome, or not? Each circumstance is different! Interpersonal conflict is very common with many relationships. It occurs when two people can not meet in the middle or agree on a discussion. Cooperation is key to maintaining a healthy debate. More frequently; when dealing with members of your own family, issues arise that include conflict and resolution. During this process our true conflict management style appears out of thin air . (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). Our behavior or conflict style tells a lot about us as humans. It is an important piece of life s puzzles, and how we go about living a healthy life. Our particular path decides where conflict will lead to, or if it could be resolved quickly with everyone feeling content. However, our non verbal behavior could indicate when a person is upset or anoid. This is usually related to unmet needs or goals (Steve A. Beebe, 2008, p. 191). I participated in a conflict management style quiz that was created by Reginald Adkins to see what style I followed. The style that I tend to follow is Harmonizing. ... The background of this cartoon was that, despite the surmounting allegations of Ford s inappropriate and potentially illegal activities, he maintained a considerably strong base of supporters known as Ford Nation . Despite the size of Ford s political base, the cartoon attempts to satirize them for their unwavering support. Indecently, the side of the cartoon they are placed on could very well be interpreted as a subtle way of critiquing right wing populists as a whole. With this in mind, the couple on the left (in both senses of the word) would then represent what the cartoonist would propose to be the mainstream voting population. This cartoon would then be a clear example of an incorporation resistance struggle between the two political communities where the presumably dominant left (seen as rational and responsible voters) subsumes the subordinate right into their political narrative by oversimplifying their ideological significance to an absurd faction in Torontonian politics with an unreasonable allegiance to a corrupt yet celebrity like mayor. Considering the central image of the billboard, the cartoon could also be taken to be a critique of the legal system as the fact that Rob Ford has not been arrested for his illegal dealings. ... The ruling government imposed strict taxes via its acts of parliament. Most of these taxes raised revenue for the British troops and settling debts arising from the Indian and French war (1756 1753). This paper provides details of the Stamp and Currency Acts. The Stamp Act On March 22, 1765, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act which became effective on November 1, 1765. This act implemented a direct tax requiring the colonies to use stamped papers on all printed materials (George). The printed materials had a revenue stamp to facilitate tax collection. If you re the person who eats a whole tub of chocolate ice cream, you probably accompanied it with romantic movies. Although they are comforting for the time being, they always leave you to wonder, why didn t my break up didn t have a happy ending like the ones in the movies? In Peyton Reed s 2006 romantic comedy, The Break Up, it portrays the realistic events and feelings of a failed relationship. In comparison to other romantic comedies, this film seems to stand out because it teaches the audience the lesson that not all break ups leads to make ups. In The Break Up, the main purpose is to show the realistic events of a toxic relationship between Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn ). Brooke is a very classy art dealer and Gary, in Brooke s eyes, is just a tour bus driver. The first scene shows how the couple met a Chicago Cubs baseball game and Brooke was actually on a date with another man. The scene ended with Gary asking her to go out sometime and the following scene is a slide show of all of Brooke and Gary s pictures together, portraying that even perfect relationships have their own issues. The couple has a big argument right off the bat in the third scene, Brooke feels neglected and unappreciated by Gary. Currently, I m seeing a subtle but oh so ever present transition in real estate investing. It involves a shift in the way folks think about their real estate investment, a movement towards being more dispassionate, a movement away from qualitative and being more focused on the quantitative. Folks historically look at property differently than they do other investments. They look at their rental properties with the same viewpoint that they look at their home, with some pride of possession. You would not look on your technology stock with pride of possession, unless maybe it was Apple stock and you used to be a Macophile. But with real estate, there has a tendency to not only take pride in your properties, but to extend the stock analogy a buy and hold mind set. What I am both seeing and recommending is a shift away from that. For one thing, if you go into RE investing with that disposition, it will break your heart. It is about a courageous shepherd called David, who s rescued Israel by defying a colossal giant called Goliath and killing him with a slingshot and a bag of stone rocks. Donatello and Gianlorenzo Bermini made each a sculpture showing David. Each sculpture differs from each other starting with material, size, and style. One important thing to consider is the material used to create these statues. Donatello s Davidis nude and made of bronze. Definitely, Donatello made it to history with this first male free standing statue that was entirely unsupported, also Donatello captured the emotions in the statue. Whereas, Bernini s David is half clothed and made of Marble, also the energy seen on donatello s David is not projected on bermini s David. Bermini was more of an action men, and projected David with an ideal body. Donatello s David is shown more weak and incapable of causing the killing of a giant. I would say Donatello s sculpture is more realistic than the idealization statue of Bermini s David.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 14. Welfare Causes Poverty in America Essay There seems to be an increase in poverty in the United States and there are so many theories behind why this might be a problem. It seems as if Society as a whole wants to blame this social condition on Society itself. I believe that the problem of poverty lies within the actual individuals that are experiencing poverty. There are a few reasons why people experience poverty. They are as follows: One, the liberal welfare programs that were started in the 1960 s, two, individualslack the characteristicof power and individuality, three, anti social behaviorand the idea that poverty passes from one generation to the next. It seems as if they were unable to say no to the provided or shall I say free support and unable to say yes to the ability to gain and be able to support their selves. It was so much easier to have someone to do it for them. Not only did they lack integrity but they lacked the power and confidence needed to make it on their own. These individuals knew that the government has been and will continue to support them so they became even lazier. These individuals became lazy and began to involve themselves with only individuals of the sort, which developed into anti social behavior. Once the anti social behavior sets in we can t train these individuals to assimilate into society, we can t train these people to be like you and me. We can t train these people to be normal. I classify normal as someone who is willing to support or at least try to support themselves on a regular basis. If I can work to support me, my family and you why can t you work to support you , this includes your family also. Children are indeed a product of their environment. Being a product of your environment can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing depending on your environment. In the eyes of poverty I do believe that it is a bad thing because poverty seems to be passed on from generation to generation. UTIs are the most common type of healthcare associated infection (HAI). Between 15 25% of hospitalized patients receive urinary catheters during their hospital stay (Drekonja, 2010, p. 31). A urinary catheter is a drainage tube that is inserted into the bladder through the urethra. A catheter associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) occurs when bacteria enters the urinary tract through the catheter and causes infection. Common signs of UTIs are urgency, frequency and dysuria. These voiding symptoms will not be present in patients with indwelling catheters. Symptoms that may help classifying a CAUTI would be fever or hypothermia, suprapubic tenderness, or costovertebral angle pain or tenderness (Tillekeratne, 2014, p. 13). Catheter associated urinary tract infections cause increased healthcare costs, length of stay, morbidity, and mortality. Infections can be acquired in many ways such as, on insertion of the catheter via cross contamination or accidental catheterization into the vagina, not ensuring aseptic technique, catheter care and maintenance, and cross contamination when emptying the drainage bags. There are many ways to decrease the risk of catheter associated UTIs and nurses play a major role in reducing these risks in order to prevent harm and save lives. (Barnosky, et al) Palaeontologists characterize mass extinctions as times in Earth s history when the Earth loses more than three quarters of its species in a geologically short period of time. This has occurred 5 times over the past 540 million years, and scientists are now suggesting it is happening a 6th time. We are in the midst of a sixth mass extinctionthat has the potential to wipe out many species of importance, and humans have a profound impact on it. After about a minuet I heard footstep coming closer to me. I looked up to see a woman who seemed to be about 20 years old in front of me. She had short dark brown hair with a pink flower in it. She also wore a lab coat that seemed to be a bit large for her with a pair of glasses in a pocket and a pink scarf the same color as the flower. Excuse me but... what year is it? She asked me. Um... 2016. I responded with a confused tone. Who was this lady and how does she not even know the year? 2016... quite a year if I do say so myself! She said excitedly. Well... thank you! She then walked back to the Police Box. Suddenly I got the strange feeling of someone watching me. I never had had that feeling before until now. It stood above layers of humanity in that complex, liveliness indicated by the lights shining through the different curtains and blinds covering most of the windows of the complex. The figure stepped closer to the edge, its head turned to Teresa Sandoval. The silhouette reminded her of a woman: the harsh wind pulled back its hair and a sheet cascaded down the building. The smell of red wine and smoke stung her eyes. Teresa stood underneath the one working streetlight on the entire street: all the other lights flickered. As the figure moved closer to the edge, the lights flickered even more. The buzzing grew louder. Teresa s cheeks were red from the alcohol she had downed only fifteen minutes earlier and the cold wind slapping against her cheeks. She leaned against the pole, her burning eyes still fixed on the shadow as it halted right up to the ledge. She glanced quickly at the pavement in front of her then right up to the figure. The moon shone brightly behind the figure, long black hair illuminated. As it walked closer, the lights behind the windows at the feet of the figure were killed. • 26. Persuasive Speech On Cell Phones Did you know that the cancer government, the federal communications commission s says that hundreds of millions of Americans uses cell phones, and cell phones can cause you to have brain tumors? Did you also know that both adults and children spend most of their time on phone? When using your phone, it might give you a neck problem because in respect to cancer, concern focuses on whether cell phones might increase the risk of brain tumors in the head and neck area. But let me tell you something, as many of us use our phones daily, do we ever stop and think it might affect our body? No because we are so into social media and playing games that we don t have time to think that it s going to affect us. People say that phones are safe and other say they aren t. I say that they can be safe at some time it can also depend what you do, and how long you use it for. Therefore, many of us get distracted easily and it s pretty hard to get back on track. In 1973, the first portable cell phone was discovered, due to the cause that cell phones may not be safe at some time cell phones are also very important because in case of an emergency you will have a device with you. A second argument is that, do children those that are under age of 10 necessarily have to own a device? How is it even right for children to use electronicsat their age? Whenever am outside and when I pass by kids using electronics, their little fingers tapping on that pricey miniature screen instead of holding the hands of their parents or whoever else is accompanying them. But now, many kids ignore us and focus on their electronics, and this is not fair. About an hour or two is fine for them. But what I had realize when am in parties is that their parents give their little kids electronics so the adults can have fun and drink. This is the argument that I trip about because you shouldn t give a kid an electronic instead you should take your kids to the park or something, keep them distracted from an electronic that can ruin their vision. Another thing that I realize is that half of you parents don t check what your kids are doing and watching. Well this phone issue basically goes for everyone. In the poem What Teachers Make, it is merely about how a teacher tries to prove a point that all teachers in general have a greater purpose than most people believe. • 33. The Role Of Fate And Fate In The Aeneid Vergil Throughout The Aeneid Vergil addresses a number of themes, one of which is the role of fate and destiny in a person s life. As the story progresses, Vergil continue to reinforce the idea that Aeneas fate is controlled by Gods as opposed to his own actions. Vergil opens with an explanation of Juno s anger and the conflict between the Gods; this introduction suggests that, although the story is primarily about Aeneas, the Gods will continue to play an integral role shaping the story. This is furthered reinforced by the fact that Juno hates Trojans; her hatred foreshadows Aeneas gruesome fate, as he is a Trojan. After book 1, the role of the gods only becomes more clear as Aeneas begins to experience direct interaction with external forces, all of whom encourage Aeneas to do something, whether it be fleeing or leaving Dido. The fact that the Gods order Aeneas to do certain actions clearly illustrate their role in determining Aeneas future, fortifying the idea that people do not control their own fates. Books 4 and 6 both clearly illustrate the forceful role the Gods have in determining a person s fate as well the lack of control a person has over their own destiny. According to Vergil, we do not have control over our own destiny. Vergil has referenced this idea multiple times throughout The Aeneid; in book 4, lines 330 361 are one instance when this concept arises in the text. What happens when the light travels from one medium to the other: The light travels everywhere, hitting everything and at the same time reflecting at a certain angle.. When speed of light is normally being discussed, it is mostly being referred to its maximum speed that it can hit, and that is the speed of light in a vacuum. Family members can cause great strain on each other, especially, when individuals of such family suffer from mental health problems and disability. A mother and father who are both unemployed as mom suffers from anxiety and depression, which have led her to be hospitalized a few times due to attempting suicide and dad who is now 33 years old and had an accident at the age of 14 which left him with only one good functioning hand. However, how can Indian women in this movie pursuit their happiness when they think they are deemed to suffer after their husbands death as a symbol of devotion to husband? Frederick and Mary (2012) documented on their blogs regarding Deepa s response upon the significance of water in this movie. Deepa said, Water can flow or water can be stagnant. I set the film in the 1930s but the people in the film live their lives as it was prescribed by a religious text more than 2000 years old. Even today, people follow these texts, which is one reason why there continue to be millions of widows. To me, that is a kind of stagnant water. I think traditions should not be that rigid. They should flow like replenishing kind of water. I personally agree that traditions should not be rigid. It can be changed as long as we never forsake our solid ground, forgetting of who we are and where we are from. We are born to seek and to create a better life, guided by religions to ensure that we do not go astray. If accepting changes are simply called defiance, what should women oppression be called? I am clueless. On the other hand, I understand that water is the element of purity in this movie. It is shown that all Indians come to the bank of Ganges River to clean their bodies from sins or bad luck in particular. Similarly, in Islam, Muslims need to take wudhu ... • 40. How Does Malcolm X s Influence On Religion It was an absolutely fascinating to read about this man s life his upbringing, life of crime, induction into the nation of Islam while in prison, his career, his family and the manner in which his attitude toward the White race changed near to end of his life. Malcolm X or El Hajj Malik al Shabazz was not the history to the world but he is our proud and someone whom we should learn something from. His courage and firm belief in Islam is something really amazing I must say. I believe that all he did was talk. Among the gists that I have learnt from his story are the fact that he learnt a lot from his past experiences and his surroundings. All the exposure and racial pride and anger that went with it has lead him to educate and reconstructed himself and also lead him to get involve with the Nation. I totally believe that his attitudes, personality and charismatic values is shaped from all the life experiences that he had gone through. For example, he learnt to be heard and recognized by making noises and yelling at others or else everyone will ignore him. So, as time develops, Malcolm X has understood so many things and that the things differ him from everybody was his awareness and bravery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 41. Courage in to Kill a Mockingbird I wanted to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun. What kinds of heroism and courage are shown in To Kill a Mockingbird? Discuss. Courage is defined as the quality of mind or spirit enabling one to meet danger or opposition with fearlessness. According to Atticus Finch, one of the main characters in To Kill a Mockingbird , Courage is when you know you re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. (pg.121). Harper Lee clearly portrays the theme of courage in her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. One likes to think of a hero, as strong, brave, and meeting all challenges head on. When Atticus took the case, he went up against Maycomb, a generally prejudiced town, in order to defend Tom. He understood that taking the case would make him an object of ridicule and that no one would forgive him for believing a black man s word over a white man s. Even his own sister expresses disapproval at his decision, practically telling him he was bringing disgrace to the family. Nevertheless, no matter how much his reputation suffered, he did not change his mind. Standing up for his morals and ethics was more important than what people thought about him. From the very start Atticus knows he will not win the case however he does his job and finishes what he set out to do. Atticus s strong sense of morality and justice motivates him to defend Tom Robinson with determination, giving it all he has. He shows this when he says, Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try and win. (pg.82). He says this to Scout after she comes home from school angry at Cecil Jacobs for making fun of Atticus in the schoolyard. Atticus tells her to fight with her head instead of her fists. He wants the people of Maycomb to hear the truth about Tom, That boy may go to the chair, but he s not going till the truth s told. (pg.159). Atticus is putting everything a man holds dear, dignity, respect, honor and status, on the line to protect Tom. He later shows more bravery when he goes to the jailhouse to ... His journey began working with his dad in his shop up until the age of 16. After his father had passed, he attempted to run it on his own, but that didn t last long; so he joined the French Army. The Natives, who originally possessed the land, were very hostile towards the new comers in the beginning, but after a while Smith organized the settlers to where they could defend their selves from them once he leaves to continue on to new settlements. Unfortunately when he returned the place was basically in chaos. Despite the chaotic environment Smith took control of Jamestown s defense. Under his command, the fort was strengthened and armed guards were put into place to watch over the settlement. Throughout Smiths efforts, it took a long time before the new colony could stand up on its own. He had to repeatedly trade with the Natives for resources but in the end, without his strong leadership, Jamestown would ve been lost. Today s new age practices is very similar to Smiths . • 43. The Ottoman Empire and Judaism The reason the Jews went to the Ottoman Empire was because the Christians persecuted them because of their different beliefs. The Jews were so scared of what the Christians might do they wanted to settle in a safer place which the Ottomans offered them. The Ottomans offering them land was the best thing the Jewscould have asked for. The Ottomans offered the Jews protection, offered them communal autonomy and tolerated their religious practices. The Ottomans at the time had a rule about non Muslims having to pay a tax, which is called the Jitza. The Muslims considered Jews and Christians dhimmi or the people of the pact. Even after all of these rules the Jewish community still thrived in the Ottoman Empire. The population of Jews in the Ottoman Empire was very distinct and was coming from different places. The most noticeable and most studied among the Jews in the Ottoman Empire were the Sephardim. The Sephardim had great political and cultural influence on the Ottoman Empire. Shichtman writes that throughout the Middle Ages both churchmen as well as secular writers were attempting to come to terms with a conception of time and history still undergoing revision. This Tapestry tries to grapple with recording history in the Middle Ages, as it details the Story of William the Conqueror defeating Harold the Earl of Wessex at the Battle of Hastings. While the Tapestry depicts numerous men, who participated in this historical event, the artist only include six women in the Tapestry. And the artisan s wife paid her own poll tax, and Kraus continues later that there was equal division of his possessions between male and female descendants was a right that was written into most communal charters. Women lived as equal members in society if they worked or had land. These charters provided women with wider aspirations in an otherwise male dominated society. The Doomsday Book recorded that three hundred and fifty women held land in the time of Edward the Confessor. Henrietta Leyster records how a Yorkshire woman named Asa held her land separate and free from the lordship and power of Bjornulfr her husband, even when they were together, so that he could neither give it, nor sell it, nor forfeit it. After their separation, she withdrew from her land and possessed it as a lady. In order for a woman to keep her privileges, she must first have land. This was only the case for Anglo Saxon women, as Anglo Norman women could not make wills or hold land. After the Conquest, however, women gained equal rights with men, as they both lost the right to bequeath ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
