The Importance of Memory in Margaret Atwood s Handmaid s...
For this essay I aim to show the importance of memory and of remembering the past in The Handmaid
s Tale by Margaret Atwood. The Handmaid s Tale is a speculative fiction first published in 1985 but
set in the early 2000s. The novel was in response to changes in US politics with the emergence of
Christian fundamentalism, the New Right. Atwood believed that society was going wrong and wrote
this savage satire, similar to Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal , depicting a dystopia which she uses
as a mirror to hold up to society. I will be focusing on the main character and narrator, Offred, a
handmaid who mingles memories of her life before the revolution with her rebellious activities under
the new regime (book group corner), as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She forgets where she is and remembers her past life as a waitress. The line between fantasizing about
the past and the harsh reality of her new life breaks down. She smiles blankly at the other Handmaids
and asks them how they are doing. She had a lapse similar to this at the Red Centre where Handmaids
were taught how to act in this new regime. Janine s mental state was frail to begin with and her
automatic reaction to scenes of brutality or stress set off her memories of her previous life. Janine s
breakdown shows how memories affect us. Janine cannot handle the deprivation she is now faced with
compared to the freedoms of her past.
There is a strong link between memories and hope. Raffaela Baccolini discusses this link in her article
The Persistence of Hope in Dystopian Science Fiction. She says that Utopia is maintained in dystopia,
traditionally a bleak, depressing genre with no space for hope in the story, only outside the story.
Offred does not have much, if anything, to stimulate herself with mentally. She is in a bare room with
shatterproof glass that has been made safe to prevent her from committing suicide. Her only escape is
her mind which harbours her memories. She has no hope in her story, which is her life, but she does
have hope

Evolution And Its Main Contributing Species
Introduction This paper will explore the theory of evolution and its main contributing species. The
Australopithecus is the most primitive common ancestor between humans and apes. Though its
contributions to evolution were few, it was still a vital part in evolution being the first ape like
creatures to be known as related to modern humans. Homo sapiens are the first species that share a
genus with modern humans. They are slightly more advanced than Australopithecines. Homo erectus
are one of the better known of the genus Homo. Finally, Homo neanderthalensis, our closest relatives.
The fossils found, the structure and the disappearance of these species will be discussed in further
detail throughout this paper.

(Johanson Edey, 1981) The next fossil of an Australopithecus was found by Robert Broom. Being
larger and more bulky he decided to call it, Paranthropus (towards man) robustus. (Johanson Edey,
1981) This name would later be changed to Australopithecus robustus because in the 1950s all African
ape men were to be known as Australopithecines. They were divided into two categories, a burlier
more primitive type (Australopithecus robustus) and a slender more delicate type (Australopithecus
africanus). (Figure 1) (Johanson Edey, 1981) The most complete fossil of an Australopithecus was
found by Donald Johanson in 1974 at Hadar, Ethiopia. (Figure 2) (Smithsonian Museum, 2016)
Johanson and Timothy White named this new species of Australopithecus in 1978, Australopithecus
afarensis. (Johnson Bjelland, 2011) This nearly half complete skeleton is known as Lucy. (Johanson
Edey, 1981) She was about three and a half feet tall, she had a V shaped jaw and had a tiny brain.
(Johanson Edey, 1981) Lucy s species was more ape like and primitive than that of the fossils found
by Dart or Broom. (Johanson Edey, 1981) Lucy provided a certainty about bipedalism (the ability to
walk upright) that before had only been mere guesses. (Johanson Edey, 1981) Bipedalism was shown
by studying the structure of the fossils found. First noticed by Dart was that the foramen magnum (the
holes where the spinal column nerves connected to the brain) was at the bottom

The Giant Panda Research Paper
The zoo, as an institution, has changed and evolved over thousands of years of human history. And
while zoological gardens have improved immensely, and now appear to have a greater purpose than its
predecessors, it has always, and still is, generating an active debate over its existence. The zoo can be
looked at from several different angles. The zoo holds itself as a conservation community, research
oriented for captive breeding, and an educational center for young minds. All the while working in the
entertainment industry and running their facilities like a business. They contradict themselves with
those different aspects, yet they still manage to somehow find justification for each. The Giant Panda,

An Understanding Of Consumer Behavior Helped Groupon Grow...
1. How has an understanding of consumer behavior helped Groupon grow from 400 subscribers in
Chicago in 2008 to 200 million subscribers in 40 countries today?
A. Groupon Founder CEO Andrew Mason is very good at understanding customers behavior about
shopping. He considered the following factors as the key features to attract customers.
1. People would try something new if the price was low enough (Kerin, R. A., Hartley, S. W. 2017. p.
135) According to Andrew Mason most people prefer to buy a product or service when it is available
at a lower price than It usually does.
2. Convenience: The availability of Groupon local make the people aware of the local deals available
every day. As people no need to travel more distances to buy a product it increases customers
convenience.
3. The Groupon Promise any customer can return a Groupon without being asked a question which
made the Groupon trustworthy.
4. Updating with time: Groupon keep on updating itself providing new deals every time hunting the
right people and right merchandises.
2. What is the Groupon Promise? How does the Groupon Promise affect a consumer s perceived risk
and cognitive dissonance?
A. Any customer can return a Groupon, no questions asked even if they used it if they feel like
Groupon has let them down (Kerin, R. A., Hartley, S. W. 2017. p. 136). According to group on policy
any customer can return an unredeemed voucher for a refund within three days after purchase. Policies

Diversification And Diversification Into The New Markets...
Diversification is entering the new markets with new products and different from those in which the
firm is currently engaged in. It is helpful to divide diversification into related diversification and
unrelated diversification. Related diversification is when a business adds or expands its existing
product markets. The company starts manufacturing a new product or through new market related to
its business activity. For example, a phone company that adds or expands its wireless products or
services by purchasing another wireless company is engaging in related diversification. Under related
diversification, companies want to make easier the consumption of its products by producing
complementing goods or offering complementing services. In a related diversification the resulting
combined business should able to improve return on investment (ROI) because of increased revenues,
decrease costs and reduced investment.
1.2 Examples
a) Brand name
One commonly found resource that is exportable is a strong established brand name like Coca Cola,
Microsoft, Pepsi, BMW and others. For example, Coca Cola spent $4.1 billion to acquire Glaceau,
includes its health drink brand Vitaminwater in 2007.
b) Marketing skills
Usually a firm will lack a strong skill in marketing for a particular market. The frequent motive to
diversify is to export or import a marketing talent. For these cases, Coca Cola s marketing skills are
used to be to bring the plight of polar bears closer to

The Downfall Of The Lehman Brothers
Part A
On September 15, 2008, the infamous investment bank Lehman Brothers was forced to file for
Chapter 11 bankruptcy by the federal court. The firm was entangled in risky business that ultimately
led to its demise because they did not take reasonable care to avoid acts that were foreseeably
damaging to the United States economy.
Established in the United States, Henry Lehman and his brothers, Mayer and Emanuel, formed a
partnership to start a general merchandising business together naming it Lehman Brothers. Soon after
its founding, the Lehman Brothers marked their evolution by turning into a global financial service
firm. The firm grew to be a major player in the financial history of the country, rapidly prospering to
be the fourth largest modern investment and brokerage bank corporation. The Lehman Brothers held a
policy until the 1920 s that only family members were permitted to form legal partnerships among this
firm, then eventually branched off allowing other key members to be carried into the business.
Lehman Brothers continued to develop their financial strategies and invested heavily into the
mortgage market. Once the firm became a practitioner for mortgages, the inflating housing market
became an appealing investment. Consequently, Lehman purchased five mortgage lenders one of
which included BNC Mortgage, a subprime mortgage lender. These mortgages were offered to people
who may not have the finest credit rating or the ability to carry the mortgage should rate

How I Build A Teepee Fire
Data gathered from the National Vital Statistics System says that from 1999 to 2011, a total of 16,911
deaths in the United States for an average of 1,301 deaths per year that was associated with exposure
to excessive natural cold. Many of these deaths could have been prevented if a fire was built to warm
the victim, or a signal for help. In the following paragraphs I will explain how to build a teepee fire to
whomever is reading this. It will cover all the basic skills and techniques needed to build a successful
tepee fire. I will also give some tips and tricks I ve learned over the years.
Frist off to build a fire I need to gather my materials. These materials are as follows: a lighter, rocks, a
place to build the fire, some wood of all different sizes, a pocketknife, and about two handfuls of a
tinder. So now you must be wondering what tinder is? Well it s simple; tinder is a material that you
light to start a fire. Tinder is also considered to be stage one in the fire building process. Which means
it s the first material in the fire to burn, and it needs to light the next level. Materials that can be used
as tinder is newspaper, dryer lint, hay, and cardboard.
You also may be wondering why a pocketknife. Well it s so that if I need to cut something I have a
tool for the job. So after I gather up a lighter, pocketknife, and about two handfuls of tinder. I need to
find a place to build the fire. It should be a place where there is somewhat level ground, and is at least

Elodea Lab Report
The primary productivity of Elodea in response to different wavelengths of light.
The term production initially means the creation or making of something, for instance organic matter.
However productivity is the rate of growth or biomass increase in plants (or animals). This is increase
of biomass or growth in plants, is generally caused by photosynthesis (6 CO2 + 6 H2O Light Energy
C6 H12 O6 + 6 O2), which converts light energy into chemical energy therefore creating new plant
tissues and new compounds and structures are synthesised and cells division. In order for
photosynthesis to occur, a plant requires sunlight, carbon dioxide and nutrients. Gross productivity is
the total gain of energy or biomass per unit area per unit time. It is the ... Show more content on

Therefore the net productivity is the gain of energy or biomass per area per unit time that remains after
the deduction due to respiration (C6 H12 O6 + 6 O2 Energy + 6 CO2 + 6 H2O). Net primary
productivity and Gross primary productivity are for the measurement of energy of autotrophs,
therefore it is only used for plants and works with this equation: NPP = GPP R, where R is the
respiratory loss (Davis Andrew, and Garrett Naggle). My intentions for this experiment are to measure
the primary productivity in the aquatic ecosystem of a pond and see how it changes with different
wavelengths (colours) of light. Since oxygen is one of the most easily dignified elements of
photosynthesis and respiration, a good way to measure primary productivity is to measure the
dissolved oxygen. It would be easier to work using this method because respiration is occurring
simultaneously with photosynthesis, making it complicated to gauge the primary productivity
(LabBench). I will place water containing microscopic autotrophs and Elodea in a closed system and
measure the O2 generation or depletion per unit time with different light exposures in

King Arthur Biography
Arthur was the first born son of King Uther Pendragon and the next heir to the throne. King Uther
died when Arthur was a baby. A magician named Merlin rescued Arthur and took him to a knight
named Sir Ector, who was a friend of the king. There, Sir Ector raised Arthur as a son while raising his
only child, Sir Kay was a knight in training. Nobody, not even Arthur knew he was a prince and the
next king of England.
Without a ruler, the kingdom started to panic and fight over who should be the next king of England.
To settle the argument, Merlin created Excalibur, which was the sword in the stone. Every knight and
noble came from all around and tried to pull the sword out, but all who tried failed. As the years went
by, Arthur grew and one day Merlin introduced himself. During this time Sir Ector taught Arthur how
to be a good squire for his adopted brother, Sir Kay. Arthur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Revival Of Christianity During The Late Roman Empire
The revival of Christianity during the late Roman period was set into motion in 313 CE with the Edict
of Milan, which legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire. Emperor Constantine helped move the
revival along by ordering the construction of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which started around
326 CE, and was completed in 335 CE. Throughout its existence, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher
has been destroyed and reconstructed numerous times, which means that the current Church in
Jerusalem is not the original building. However, the significance behind the building remains. When
the first iteration of the Church was built, it strengthened the legitimacy of Christianity in Jerusalem.

Eusebius described the discovery of the Tomb of Christ as a testimony to the resurrection of the
Saviour clearer than any voice could give (Eusebius, Life of Constantine, ch. XXVIII) Eusebius
description of the discovery of the Tomb of Christ recalls the description of the resurrection of Jesus
himself, and it also emphasized the return of Christianity to the city. The tomb had risen through the
ground and symbolized that Christianity had returned to the holy city and had risen above Roman
paganism (Sporty, 1991, p. 33).
The physical location of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher on the western hill was deliberately chosen
in order to establish the dominance of Christianity in Jerusalem. Sporty notes that the Church was
constructed on a hill that was higher than the Temple Mount (1991, p. 32). This location allowed the
Church to overlook the ruins of the Temple, and symbolized the rise of Christianity in the city while
Judaism was still in ruins. Furthermore, the Church was deliberately built facing the Temple Mount,
which Eusebius described as facing the far famed Jerusalem of old time, and upon exiting the Church,
worshippers would see the ruins on the Temple Mount, preserved for this moment (Sporty, 1991, p.
32). This direction further strengthened the ascendancy of Christianity in Jerusalem, as it allowed the
people to look directly at the ruins of the old religious center of Jerusalem while

sources of cash receipts and disbursements for the brewery. The segmented analysis outlines the
overall profitability of each product line net of tax and amortization. From a cash flow perspective, the

The results from ABC can be used to improve control of overhead while providing valuable
information for strategic decisions like pricing and capacity management. ABC was considered
throughout the preparation of the budget. We first identified the cost objective as the product line
including; Premium Pale Ale, Blonde Lager, Harvest Lager, and Premium Lager. We then identified
activities and cost drivers to complement our objective. They were as follows: Activity Driver(s) Sales
demand Number of cases sold Brewing materials, machinery, and supervision Direct materials used,
Machine hours, Direct labour hours Shipping and logistics Transportation expenses Contract growth
Commissions paid General company administration No cost driver (organization sustaining) Indirect
costs that could not be traced back directly to the income statement were then assigned to cost pools
by activity. The cost for each activity were then divided by the total volume of the cost driver and
assigned to the cost objectives. Ultimately, the use of ABC in its budget processes adds considerable
potential benefit to Desert Valley but will be costly to maintain and monitor effectively. We

Colin Powell s 18 Leadership Principals
General (USA Ret) Colin L. Powell s 18 Leadership Principals
During his distinguished military career, General Colin Powell exemplified what it means to be a great
leader. In a briefing given to the Outreach To America Program, General Powell outlined 18 principals
that all leaders should strive to encompass. After reviewing his brief, three of these principals stuck
out Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off , The day soldiers stop bringing you their
problems is the day you have stopped leading them and Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier .
These three principals resonate with my personal experiences in the military and in leadership.
The first principal, Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off , is something that I
struggled with early in my military career. I was eager to prove myself and accomplish missions
assigned to me at any cost. As my career progressed and I had soldiers assigned to me, I realized that
being a yes man is not always the responsible choice. When the safety and welfare of others is put in
to your hands you must put your own ambitions aside and consider the big picture. Specifically, in my

They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case
is a failure of leadership. I have encountered a few cases of toxic leadership during my career and this
warning sign was present in each of those units. As a leader I make it my personal mission to create a
culture in which soldier s feel comfortable and confident enough in me as their leader to bring forth
their problems. It is important as a leader to focus on the big picture but also not lose sight of soldier
care. At the end of the day, you cannot accomplish the mission by yourself, soldiers are the ones who

Macro Lens
Ever see a spectacular photo of a flower online and wonder the process behind that picture? Well,
professional photographers buy expensive equipment like, lenses, tripods and extension tubes to take
clear crisp photos that have a blurred background. They use composition techniques like the angle of
attack to change the look of their photo. Finally, professionals edit their photos to make colors pop,
brighten shadows and darken highlights. Using good equipment, skill and editing, professional
photographers can create spectacular close up photos. Professional photographers use expensive
equipment to take beautiful pictures. Nice lenses make photos with bokeh (a Japanese word for blur)
in the background, but these are usually pricy. Evin Oke, a professional photographer, says his $700
macro lens is the best money I have ever spent (picturecorrect.com). Macro lenses are designed to take

The human eye finds things of three appealing; this is why many photographers such as Bryan
Peterson use the Rule of Thirds. Shapes, curves, and patterns make a photo more interesting because
they create dimension in a photo. An example of this is if a photographer goes to the market and takes
an apple and places it on top of the pile of oranges. The apple stands out against the oranges patterns,
shapes and curves. A way to create a more dynamic image is to change the angle from which you
shoot. (picturecorrect.com). This is called angle of attack and photographers use it often because it can
change the look of a photo dramatically. Shooting many pictures of flowers may get boring and
repetitive after time, but if a photographer changes his shooting angle, he can create a completely
different photo. Taking visually attractive photos requires a variety of skills to compose the

The Causes Of Black Power

cannot drive out hate; only love can do that . The significance of this quote is to end racism with non

African American equality and civil rights. For example, Margaret Garner, Rosa Parks, and Martin
Luther King Jr. were all influential in the fight for black power. Black Power is a political slogan
aimed at achieving self determination for people of African descent. Martin Luther King Jr. was the
most important voice of the American civil rights movement and the Black power movement, which
both worked for equal rights for all. He was famous for using nonviolent resistance to overcome
injustice similar to Gandhi. Black power was necessary for paving the way for African American
equality, and civil rights that African Americans still fight for today.

African Americans were considered dirty. Slaves were usually bought to work on plantations. While

Water Pollution Vs Stormwater Pollution
Abstract Stormwater pollution impacts the quality of both the environment and human health. It
degrades natural resources, threatens economic prosperity and poses health and safety risks to
communities. Stormwater pollution is the result of urban and industrial runoff getting washed into the
storm drains, seriously affecting all of our nation s water sources. Federal regulations and pollution
prevention measures can significantly influence the quality of our water, our environment and our
health. Introduction Stormwater pollution is a significant environmental and public health issue.
Stormwater pollution has substantial impacts on water quality, posing risks to the health and safety of
residential communities while degrading natural resources and threatening economical revenues.
Stormwater pollution is created when trash, waste and other contaminants are washed into storm
drains. When mixed with rainwater, this toxic mixture flows untreated into local creeks, rivers and the
ocean, polluting waterways and damaging natural resources. This paper will analyze various historical
and regulatory aspects of water quality, discuss some of the major sources of stormwater pollution and
look at the various ways stormwater pollution prevention techniques can be implemented to improve
the quality of our water. Point Source vs. Non point Source Pollution First, it is important to
distinguish between point source and non point source (NPS) pollution.

Analysis Of The Showdown At House Of Blue Leaves Scene In...
Since the 1990 s Quentin Tarantino has been viewed as one of the most iconic directors of modern
cinema. His most praised scenes are always his combat scenes, or the finals scenes of each film. While
there are plenty of good combat scenes in each Quentin Tarantino film, the Showdown at House of
Blue Leaves scene from Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) is by far the most beautiful and impactful. Kill Bill
Vol. 1 follows an female ex assassin The Bride on a brutal
Atkinson 2 revenge filled journey. Within the scene Showdown at House of Blue Leaves, through the
use of mise en scène, sound, and cinematography, Quentin Tarantino beautifully reflects the emotions
and capability of The Bride and her enemy O ren Ishii.
Firstly, through the use of mise en scène, at the beginning of the scene, Quentin Tarantino displays and
manages to symbolize the complete contrasts of how the two characters are feeling. The setting of a
film is the most fundamental featur[e] of mise en scène. (Corrigan and White, 69) The Bride has just
finished maiming and killing 88 fully trained assassins, and now walks out onto the rooftop garden of
O ren Ishii s House Of Blue Leaves. The contrast of the inside of the house compared to the outside of
the house, makes it appear as if The Bride is literally walking into a movie screen, hinting towards the
next scene holding a different tone from the previous one feeling like it is from a different movie. This
indeed happens, as the battle between The Bride and O ren

Why Secondary Schools Should Not Have Recess
Secondary schools should not have recess. There are many reasons why secondary schools should not
have recess. Teachers don t have enough time to teach their kids if there is recess. Kids also need more
time to learn things. If there is recess then they don t have enough time to learn those things that they
need to know. The reason that recess should not be banned because the teachers don t have enough
time to teach their class every thing that they need to teach. In the text it says, He says other teachers

secondary schools shouldn t have recess by telling us how much harder it is for teachers to keep a

score of 83.67, which means the regulation environment in Hong Kong helps the starting of a joint
venture in general. This represents in the sector of paperwork for starting a business, burden of tax
compliance, ease of enforcing a contract and the matters relating to trade.
Political regulatory risks
Hong Kong is a free port and does not levy any customs tariff (i.e. border tax) on imports and exports.
However, Hong Kong levies an excise duty on liquor (with an alcoholic strength of more than 30% by
volume measured at a temperature of 20℃) of 100% of its value(Customs ... Show more content on

Besides taxes, importing Whiskey to Hong Kong is subject to other regulations, such as license or
permits, certificate of origin and health certificate etc (Yuen C. 2010). Whiskey traders in Hong Kong
are required to apply for licenses or permits for the import, export, manufacture, storage or movement,
which implies that traders need to apply for permit before they enter into the market(Yuen C. 2010).
Moreover, importing Whiskey to Hong Kong and selling in Hong Kong are required to provide a
Certificate of Origin, certifying the type, nature, quality and age of the liquor (Hong Kong Customs
and excise department 2016). The regulations in Hong Kong is very strict for whiskey traders in terms
of heavy taxes and additional requirements of importing whiskey. Despite these regulations, sales of
whiskey can still earn profit as they are selling at a premium price compared with beer and wine.
Whiskies are luxury products with high price and targeting at wealthy customers who are not very
sensitive to price. The higher price will offset the cost and generate profits in total.
Political opportunities
Hong Kong is special administrative region of China. Since 2013 China and Hong Kong has signed
the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement(Agriculture Food in China 2015). CEPA allows a zero
percent tariff between Hong Kong and mainland China. So goods can be first imported by Hong Kong
and then re exported into the mainland.

Marriage Between Women And Marriage Essay
The Formality marriage relationships documented in this study all included four stages: 1): Men Dang
Hu Dui 2): partnership, 3): friendship, 4): kinship (as shown on model1: formality marriage
developing model in Chinese guanxi society). Even though nowadays homosexual people have all the
freedom and rights to choose their future husband/wife and register for the same sex marriage in many
nations, Chinese LGBTs Populations is another scenarios, due to the same sex marriage haven t
achieved recognition in law and other complicated social cultural barriers in china, such us the
expectation of marriage as a cultural and familial obligation, filial piety, maintenance of family
offspring and other social cultural norms (Coleman Chou, 2013). Although the Formality marriage is a
rather controversial practice since it violates the core element of marriage based on love and many
other unknown risks may incur. The phenomenon reflects a deeply traditional culture that demands
young people to get married and have children to continue the family line when coming to their
marriage age. Some of LGs choose per formality marriage rather than deceptively marry a
heterosexual partner or become a center of discussion by not marrying. Compared to the other
alternatives, it offers a compensated way to balance the pressures from different aspects(Liu, 2013).
From this research, it implies that the marriage practice in formality marriage is a complicated issues

Oily Skin Foundation
So, now, let s get to the important stuff: Which are the best foundations for oily skin on the market?
Through a lot of trial and error, I have found five foundations which actually satisfy the needs of oily
skin, so I will summarize my reviews in this article. Please not that not all oily skins are the same that
s exactly what makes the process of choosing perfect foundation so difficult. Being a professional
makeup artist, I have found that different clients with oily skin need different foundation, which is
why I made a useful comparison that will help you make the right decision.
Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation
This foundation works perfectly for my skin. It does have a mattifying effect, but it still gives the skin
a nice healthy velvety appearance that looks (well, almost) natural. Although it is quite pigmented and
provides higher coverage, it doesn t give the effect of a mask face. The staying power is extremely
satisfying, but I tend to set it with the Urban Decay spray when the weather is hot.
The best thing about this foundation is that it s water resistant, which means that I can even wear it to
the beach without being afraid of any accidents.
This product doesn t have an overly drying effect, but it still needs a moisturizer under it because
otherwise it will form dry patches. If you tend to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I use this foundation on clients who have really problematic skin that would look even worse with
other makeup products. It literally covers everything, from vitiligo to acne, acne scarring, unevenness
and large pores. The only downside to this product is that it does clog the pores, but it is practically
necessary to use on special occasions for people with such problematic skin. If you are afraid of
looking cakey, that won t happen with this

Kingdom Of God Devine Borges Research Paper
Luciane Borges Engaging in the New Testament
The Kingdom of God The Kingdom of God is unlike any Kingdom of which the World has ever
known, and that s because it s not a wordly Kingdom. The Kingdom of God there will be no end.
Entry into the Kingdom of God is not dependent on one s status, position, one s riches or lack therof.
Luke, along with other gospel writers, points out that One must come to Jesus with an attitude of
uncompromised surrender, absolute dependency, and childlike trust, these are traits of those who have
entered the Kingdom of God. We must be willing to give up everything, if need be; for watever we
would not want to give up would be something that,in a sense, not only competes with Jesus but, in
fact, wins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kinder Transport Outline
Have you heard about the Kinder transport and why it was created? People from all over the Germany
made a plan to save kids called the Kinder transport. The Kinder transport helped kids that were in
countries that were controlled by Hitler. They did this because their parents wanted them to be safe
and not go through any more trouble than they had already gone through. In paragraph 5 it talks about
how the Kinder transport was created and why was it created. The Kinder transport was quite risky
because the people that sent their kids didn t know where they were going. The Gestapo, the Nazi
chief of police, was not to be trusted. Even though that the Kinder transport was made to save the kids
it was still risky because the Nazis were in charge of taking the kids where they needed to be to be
safe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Greek Culture Influence On American Culture
Introduction Cultures are different around the world. There often is multiple cultures in a country.
Greece s culture is different in many ways from other cultures, for example family, tradition and
religion are three of many key factors in Greece(www.everyculture.com). Family, tradition and
religion can be popular values for other cultures too, but all cultures have different values. Families in
Greece are affected by poverty, religion and tradition. In Greece, family is very important, where the
father is the authority figure and the mother is the caring parent. Parents believe that children are their
main priority in the family and treat them with love and respect; parenting them to value religion,
tradition and family life with high expectations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Greece the mothers main goal is to care for the child and that is it they can work but most choose
not to. For mothers in Greece, it is more common for her to stay at home and not work while in our
culture it is common that the mother cares for the child but also works. The father in Greece is
authoritative and provides for the family. In Canada the father and mother are likely to share the
authority role and the role to provide for the family.
Expectations for Children
Expectations for children in Greece are to strive in school and stay connected to their religion and
their family life. Since family life is important in Greece the parents want the children to be close to
every family member. I think that the parents in Greece want their children to be happy but to value
the things they do which is religion, tradition and family. Our culture and Greece culture expect the
same for their children.

Sphere Of Influence
Sphere of Influence
Aung San Suu Kyi influenced the people of Myanmar or Burma, which is East of India. The People of
Myanmar were influenced by her because she spoke up against the harsh rule of dictator U Ne Win
without using violent actions. Suu Kyi became the General Secretary of a new democratic party called
National League of Democracy (NLD). This position helped Suu Kyi speak up against U Ne Win
because of her political power. Being the daughter of someone who influenced Myanmar, former
Commander of the Burma (Myanmar) Independence Army, Aung San, she has gained much popularity
because of her father, but also because she was brave enough to speak up against Ne Win to achieve

Also known as The Lady as she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991; also an outstanding example of
the power of the powerless. Suu Kyi spent her time between 1989 2010 in some sort of detention
because of her efforts to bring democracy to the military which ruled Myanmar. This made her an
international symbol of peaceful resistance in the face of cruelty. She didn t use violent actions to
accomplish her goals which is one of the reasons why she is a great example to many people. Suu Kyi
spoke out to help many people who don t have rights; and also to achieve democracy for Myanmar,
her hometown. Aung San Suu Kyi still today, is fighting for democracy and human rights because she
believes in human rights and will always help and fight for these things. Aung San Suu Kyi, the

Why Do People Fall Under Nazi Rule
Under Nazi rule, most countries could do nothing but comply. They all had to fall under Nazi rule and
do as they said. That meant turning over their Jews and doing exactly as Hitler demanded. Some
people showed moral courage in the face of the Nazis instead, but rarely was there a whole country
that tried to save themselves before falling under German demand. However, there was one country
that didn t comply despite its disadvantage to Germany: Denmark resisted Nazi rule which shows a
great example of a whole country working together to save their people.
When Denmark was invaded during World War II, they decided to try and resist their rule instead of
comply with all of their demands. One of these was trying to take all of the Jews. An example of
saving them was Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz who was a German diplomat. When he learned that
Germany was planning to purge all of the Jews, he warned the country so that they were able to get

There are many stories about a single person or a small group of people who risked their lives to save
Jews during World War II. However, it is rare to see a whole country able to do such an amazing,
courageous thing for people living in their boarders. The Jews got government help to get away from
Nazi rule and not every country did this. This story is inspiring because it shows that even a whole
country and chose to do the right things when faced with an impossible choice. To most countries, it
seemed as if the only thing they could do was comply with Nazi orders and fall under their rule. For
Denmark, though, it was the opposite. They found it impossible to do anything but save their citizens.
This story can give us hope to resist a bigger force and ignore the consequences if it is for a better
cause. This shows how many people can come under a good moral direction: one toward helping
others for the sake of those in

Orem s Self Care Deficit Theory
Orem s Self Care Theory Orem s Self Care Deficit Theory (SCDNT) is complex and contains various
parts that help to explain how self care can influence the overall health status of an individual. The
basics of SCDNT can be broken down into four interconnected parts: theory of self care, theory of
dependent care, theory of self care deficit, and theory of nursing systems (Berbiglia Banfield, 2014).
Each theory can be integrated into how the nurse will interact and plan care for patients. The nurse
meets the patient s self care needs by teaching, demonstrating, and supporting the patient in
performing basic self care practices. Self care can be defined as the practice of activities that maturing
and mature persons initiate and perform, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the nursing actions are developed around self care and produce a therapeutic effect on that
patient. These relationships between the nurse and the patient guide care and help to develop an
understanding of what actions must be taken for each patient. Along with the four theories, Orem also
developed goals to be met with self care using eight requisites. When nurses are assessing patient s
these eight areas should be included in the assessment: maintance of sufficient intake of air, food, and
water, provision of care associated with elimination processes and excrements, maintenance of
balance between activity and rest, and solitude and social interaction, prevention of hazards to human
life, human functioning, and human well being, and promotion of human functioning and
development within social groups in accordance with human potential, known human limitations, and
human desire to be normal (Berbiglia Banfield, 2014). Patient Assessment The patient to be assessed
is a 63 year old male admitted to the hospital for a planned admission for a transurethral resection of
prostate (TURP) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with obstruction. The patient s past
medical history includes: infantile cerebral palsy affecting the right side, sliding hernia that was
repaired, tonsillectomy, and skin cancer at age 2.

Disasters are human made or natural and occur sudden and unexpected. As disasters cannot be

  • 2. The Importance of Memory in Margaret Atwood s Handmaid s... For this essay I aim to show the importance of memory and of remembering the past in The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood. The Handmaid s Tale is a speculative fiction first published in 1985 but set in the early 2000s. The novel was in response to changes in US politics with the emergence of Christian fundamentalism, the New Right. Atwood believed that society was going wrong and wrote this savage satire, similar to Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal , depicting a dystopia which she uses as a mirror to hold up to society. I will be focusing on the main character and narrator, Offred, a handmaid who mingles memories of her life before the revolution with her rebellious activities under the new regime (book group corner), as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She forgets where she is and remembers her past life as a waitress. The line between fantasizing about the past and the harsh reality of her new life breaks down. She smiles blankly at the other Handmaids and asks them how they are doing. She had a lapse similar to this at the Red Centre where Handmaids were taught how to act in this new regime. Janine s mental state was frail to begin with and her automatic reaction to scenes of brutality or stress set off her memories of her previous life. Janine s breakdown shows how memories affect us. Janine cannot handle the deprivation she is now faced with compared to the freedoms of her past. There is a strong link between memories and hope. Raffaela Baccolini discusses this link in her article The Persistence of Hope in Dystopian Science Fiction. She says that Utopia is maintained in dystopia, traditionally a bleak, depressing genre with no space for hope in the story, only outside the story. Offred does not have much, if anything, to stimulate herself with mentally. She is in a bare room with shatterproof glass that has been made safe to prevent her from committing suicide. Her only escape is her mind which harbours her memories. She has no hope in her story, which is her life, but she does have hope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Evolution And Its Main Contributing Species Introduction This paper will explore the theory of evolution and its main contributing species. The Australopithecus is the most primitive common ancestor between humans and apes. Though its contributions to evolution were few, it was still a vital part in evolution being the first ape like creatures to be known as related to modern humans. Homo sapiens are the first species that share a genus with modern humans. They are slightly more advanced than Australopithecines. Homo erectus are one of the better known of the genus Homo. Finally, Homo neanderthalensis, our closest relatives. The fossils found, the structure and the disappearance of these species will be discussed in further detail throughout this paper. Being larger and more bulky he decided to call it, Paranthropus (towards man) robustus. (Johanson Edey, 1981) This name would later be changed to Australopithecus robustus because in the 1950s all African ape men were to be known as Australopithecines. They were divided into two categories, a burlier more primitive type (Australopithecus robustus) and a slender more delicate type (Australopithecus africanus). (Figure 1) (Johanson Edey, 1981) The most complete fossil of an Australopithecus was found by Donald Johanson in 1974 at Hadar, Ethiopia. (Figure 2) (Smithsonian Museum, 2016) Johanson and Timothy White named this new species of Australopithecus in 1978, Australopithecus afarensis. (Johnson Bjelland, 2011) This nearly half complete skeleton is known as Lucy. (Johanson Edey, 1981) She was about three and a half feet tall, she had a V shaped jaw and had a tiny brain. (Johanson Edey, 1981) Lucy s species was more ape like and primitive than that of the fossils found by Dart or Broom. (Johanson Edey, 1981) Lucy provided a certainty about bipedalism (the ability to walk upright) that before had only been mere guesses. (Johanson Edey, 1981) Bipedalism was shown by studying the structure of the fossils found. • 6. Diversification And Diversification Into The New Markets... Diversification is entering the new markets with new products and different from those in which the firm is currently engaged in. It is helpful to divide diversification into related diversification and unrelated diversification. Related diversification is when a business adds or expands its existing product markets. The company starts manufacturing a new product or through new market related to its business activity. For example, a phone company that adds or expands its wireless products or services by purchasing another wireless company is engaging in related diversification. Under related diversification, companies want to make easier the consumption of its products by producing complementing goods or offering complementing services. In a related diversification the resulting combined business should able to improve return on investment (ROI) because of increased revenues, decrease costs and reduced investment. 1.2 Examples a) Brand name One commonly found resource that is exportable is a strong established brand name like Coca Cola, Microsoft, Pepsi, BMW and others. For example, Coca Cola spent $4.1 billion to acquire Glaceau, includes its health drink brand Vitaminwater in 2007. b) Marketing skills Usually a firm will lack a strong skill in marketing for a particular market. The frequent motive to diversify is to export or import a marketing talent. For these cases, Coca Cola s marketing skills are used to be to bring the plight of polar bears closer to ... The firm was entangled in risky business that ultimately led to its demise because they did not take reasonable care to avoid acts that were foreseeably damaging to the United States economy. Established in the United States, Henry Lehman and his brothers, Mayer and Emanuel, formed a partnership to start a general merchandising business together naming it Lehman Brothers. Soon after its founding, the Lehman Brothers marked their evolution by turning into a global financial service firm. The Lehman Brothers held a policy until the 1920 s that only family members were permitted to form legal partnerships among this firm, then eventually branched off allowing other key members to be carried into the business. Lehman Brothers continued to develop their financial strategies and invested heavily into the mortgage market. Once the firm became a practitioner for mortgages, the inflating housing market became an appealing investment. In the following paragraphs I will explain how to build a teepee fire to whomever is reading this. It will cover all the basic skills and techniques needed to build a successful tepee fire. I will also give some tips and tricks I ve learned over the years. Frist off to build a fire I need to gather my materials. These materials are as follows: a lighter, rocks, a place to build the fire, some wood of all different sizes, a pocketknife, and about two handfuls of a tinder. So now you must be wondering what tinder is? Well it s simple; tinder is a material that you light to start a fire. Tinder is also considered to be stage one in the fire building process. Which means it s the first material in the fire to burn, and it needs to light the next level. Materials that can be used as tinder is newspaper, dryer lint, hay, and cardboard. You also may be wondering why a pocketknife. Well it s so that if I need to cut something I have a tool for the job. So after I gather up a lighter, pocketknife, and about two handfuls of tinder. The term production initially means the creation or making of something, for instance organic matter. However productivity is the rate of growth or biomass increase in plants (or animals). This is increase of biomass or growth in plants, is generally caused by photosynthesis (6 CO2 + 6 H2O Light Energy C6 H12 O6 + 6 O2), which converts light energy into chemical energy therefore creating new plant tissues and new compounds and structures are synthesised and cells division. In order for photosynthesis to occur, a plant requires sunlight, carbon dioxide and nutrients. Gross productivity is the total gain of energy or biomass per unit area per unit time. It is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore the net productivity is the gain of energy or biomass per area per unit time that remains after the deduction due to respiration (C6 H12 O6 + 6 O2 Energy + 6 CO2 + 6 H2O). Net primary productivity and Gross primary productivity are for the measurement of energy of autotrophs, therefore it is only used for plants and works with this equation: NPP = GPP R, where R is the respiratory loss (Davis Andrew, and Garrett Naggle). My intentions for this experiment are to measure the primary productivity in the aquatic ecosystem of a pond and see how it changes with different wavelengths (colours) of light. Since oxygen is one of the most easily dignified elements of photosynthesis and respiration, a good way to measure primary productivity is to measure the dissolved oxygen. It would be easier to work using this method because respiration is occurring simultaneously with photosynthesis, making it complicated to gauge the primary productivity (LabBench). I will place water containing microscopic autotrophs and Elodea in a closed system and measure the O2 generation or depletion per unit time with different light exposures in ... The Revival Of Christianity During The Late Roman Empire The revival of Christianity during the late Roman period was set into motion in 313 CE with the Edict of Milan, which legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire. Emperor Constantine helped move the revival along by ordering the construction of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which started around 326 CE, and was completed in 335 CE. Throughout its existence, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher has been destroyed and reconstructed numerous times, which means that the current Church in Jerusalem is not the original building. The tomb had risen through the ground and symbolized that Christianity had returned to the holy city and had risen above Roman paganism (Sporty, 1991, p. 33). The physical location of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher on the western hill was deliberately chosen in order to establish the dominance of Christianity in Jerusalem. Sporty notes that the Church was constructed on a hill that was higher than the Temple Mount (1991, p. 32). This location allowed the Church to overlook the ruins of the Temple, and symbolized the rise of Christianity in the city while Judaism was still in ruins. Furthermore, the Church was deliberately built facing the Temple Mount, which Eusebius described as facing the far famed Jerusalem of old time, and upon exiting the Church, worshippers would see the ruins on the Temple Mount, preserved for this moment (Sporty, 1991, p. 32). Through a lot of trial and error, I have found five foundations which actually satisfy the needs of oily skin, so I will summarize my reviews in this article. Please not that not all oily skins are the same that s exactly what makes the process of choosing perfect foundation so difficult. Being a professional makeup artist, I have found that different clients with oily skin need different foundation, which is why I made a useful comparison that will help you make the right decision. Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation This foundation works perfectly for my skin. It does have a mattifying effect, but it still gives the skin a nice healthy velvety appearance that looks (well, almost) natural. Although it is quite pigmented and provides higher coverage, it doesn t give the effect of a mask face. The staying power is extremely satisfying, but I tend to set it with the Urban Decay spray when the weather is hot. The best thing about this foundation is that it s water resistant, which means that I can even wear it to the beach without being afraid of any accidents. This product doesn t have an overly drying effect, but it still needs a moisturizer under it because otherwise it will form dry patches. If you tend to get ... That meant turning over their Jews and doing exactly as Hitler demanded. Some people showed moral courage in the face of the Nazis instead, but rarely was there a whole country that tried to save themselves before falling under German demand. However, there was one country that didn t comply despite its disadvantage to Germany: Denmark resisted Nazi rule which shows a great example of a whole country working together to save their people. When Denmark was invaded during World War II, they decided to try and resist their rule instead of comply with all of their demands. One of these was trying to take all of the Jews.
