Drafting Tools
 These are tools used in technical
drafting
 It can be use to draw or manipulate
the given item
Pencil
 Most important tool
 A writing implement or art
medium constructed of a narrow,
solid pigment core inside a protective
casing which prevents the core from
being broken or leaving marks on the
user’s hand during use.
Architectural Pencil
 A special type of pencil used for
architectural drawing
 Has a variation of grades
 9H is the highest grade or degree of
the pencil
Ruler
 Also called as “line gauge”
 An instrument used
in geometry, technical
drawing, printing, engineering and
building to measure distances or to
rule straight lines.
T-Square
 A technical drawing instrument used
by draftsmen primarily as a guide
for drawing horizontal lines
 A T-square has two components -
the long shaft called the "blade" and
the short shaft called the "stock" or
"head". 
Compass
 A technical drawing instrument that
can be used for
inscribing circles or arcs
Beam Compass or Divider
 A compass with a beam and sliding
sockets or cursors for drawing and
dividing circles larger than those
made by a regular pair of
compasses.
Protractor
 A measuring instrument, typically
made of transparent plastic or
glass, for measuring angles. Most
protractors measure angles
in degrees (°). 
Scale
 Usually used for measuring
 Reducing or enlarging the
measurement of the drawing
Scale
Eraser
 Use to erase unwanted marks on the
drawing paper
 Usually made up of rubber
Sharpener
 Use to sharpen the lead of the
pencils
Triangles
 Used to project lines from a
horizontal base
 30 x 60 x 90 Triangle
 45 x 90 Triangle
Drawing Board
 It is where the drawing paper will
be placed
 Measures 24 inches x 36 inches in
length
 Has a smooth surface
