The document describes the steps taken to create a title sequence with falling raindrops for a film. First, a background image was added and text was made 3D. Raindrops were added as particles using an emitter and given motion. The raindrops were shaped and given realistic movement and appearance using filters like Underwater and Crystallize. Focus filters were applied to simulate a rack focus effect drawing attention to the title. Color correction and textures finished the realistic looking sequence.

1. Title sequenceI started by adding the background
image and adjusting the colours to my
liking. I then added the title “time”,
messing with the scale of the text and
turning it into a 3D shape.
I then added a Gassian Blur to the
whole composition to make it seem as
if the whole shot was out of focus.
I started creating the actual
raindrops that are going to be on
the title card. I went onto content
and searched Blur.png, this is an
element that is added to the
composition. I adjusted the levels to
make it darker and then added and
emitter by clicking on to particles.
This is done so I can set the
amount of particles (the
amount of raindrops) in the
frame. Setting the emission
range to 45, so the rain drops
would be going downwards.
Setting the blend mode to Screen,
This applied only to the static
raindrops in the frame. I then
duplicated this group so I could
create the moving droplets, with a
few values being changed along
with it.

2. In order to turn the little orbs (representing the
raindrops) into actual droplets, I had to crystalize
the layer that I was working with.
In order to create the raindrops that are streaming
down the composition, I had to actually create the
raindrop shape, using the ‘shapes’ tool on the
motion.

Once the first raindrop was created, I selected the
'Emitter' button once again, which allowed the
raindrop to multiply. Then by changing a few
values, I managed to achieve a number of raindrops
that were nicely spread out.
Applying the Distortion > Underwater filter allowed
for the raindrops to have more curved and natural
paths/shapes. Adding the Stylize > Crystallize,
allows for the raindrops to appear fuzzy. Other
filters added:
• Colour corrector
• Gassian Blur
This made the raindrops appear more realistic.

3. Then I created an Image Mask for the
Background layer that I duplicated, setting the
layer to 'Luminance' allows the background layer
to be seen through the raindrops layer. Applying
the Glass distortion filter allowed for the
raindrops to appear nicely against the
background. I order to make the raindrops really
stand out I applied the 'Unsharp Mask'.
Moving onto the rack focus of the title sequence,
I applied a 'Focus Filter' to the Background of the
title sequence. I then created a keyframe for the
filter in order to animate it and make it appear as
if the camera if focusing in on the title of the
film. I then added the same filter onto the
raindrops but going in the opposite direction, so
the focus is moving from the raindrops to the
title. Once I applied the filter I adjusted the
colours of the piece using a colour corrector (to
my liking) and then I added a dirty glass texture
to the piece to make it more realistic.
