The internal information system of a business can be classified ito the four major parts:
1. Marketing information system : Marketing information system supports the decision making
regarding the four marketing mix whic are price, product place and promotion. It helps
marketing planning, promoting and sellling the goods and services of the company. It also helps
in identifying the current marketing trends, the various needs and requirements of the customers
to serve them better. Some of the major fuctions of marketing information system are the pricing
decisons and sales forecasting. pricing decisions are important as it will determine the total
revenue generated for the company, sales forcasting is the way of estimating the future.
2. Mnufacturing information system : Information system plays an important role in
manufacturing process. The manufacturing information system includes product design and
engineering, product scheduling, quality control etc.two of the major tools which are used for
product design and engineering are CAD(Computer aided design) and CAE( Computer aided
engineering). Product scheduling ensures that appropriate combination of man material and
machine are provided at the appropiate time for the right production of the goods.
3. accounting and financial information system : The accounting and financial information
system helps in keeping a track of the various transactions of the company. It takes the stock of
the flows of money and others assets in and out of the organization. The various functions of
accounting and financial information system are financial forcasting and planning, financial
control, funds management and internal auditing etc.
4. Human resource information system : The human resource information system performs
various taks such as keeping the track of the employees and their performnaces, fetching the
information to the employees regarding the various benefit palns,helping the managers to
evaluate his subordninates and other employees etc..
Information system is a combination of people, equipment, database and application programs, machine procedures which are organized in such a way that it enables the control over a function or process in an organization.
