The next step was the establishment of subsidiaries in Norway and Finland. After acquiring experience
in the Nordic countries, Volvo started to export its products to countries with greater distance, namely
Holland, Belgium and various countries in South America. As a last step, Volvo established
subsidiaries in Finland and Norway. In the 1950s, further expansion followed. Subsidiaries were
established in most European countries, USA and Canada. In the year 1973 Volvo opened up a car
manufacturing plant in the USA, followed by a second one in Belgium in 1975. Nowadays Volvo has
over 100 export markets, manufacturing subsidiaries in five countries and sales subsidiaries in twelve.
The Uppsala Model Limitations The Uppsala model is the historically oldest entry mode theory
discussed in our paper. One could argue that it is particularly the date of origin that reveals its
limitations. The development of the global infrastructure has not reduced the physical distance;
however, it has certainly helped to overcome it. Furthermore, technological milestones like the
Internet have simplified communication significantly. As a result of these advancements, the cultural
exchange around the world has increased leading to some extent of cultural convergence. Due to these
dramatic changes in logistical capacities, communication technology as well as ongoing cultural
convergence, much of

The third Case Study “Home Depot’s Blueprint for Culture...
The third Case Study Home Depot s Blueprint for Culture Change studied Mr. Robert Nardelli s role
as the CEO of Home Depot. He approached management in an autocratic style, which was criticized
by many. This paper will take a look at how Mr. Nardelli s style follows Kotter and Cohen s model of
change.
It seems that Mr. Nardelli and his team followed some of the steps of the Kotter and Cohen s model,
but not all. There are additional steps that his team could have taken to improve morale and develop
the team further.
Mr. Nardelli views management as top down, command and control style, appreciated by efficiency
managers, but criticized by many. He especially focused on process controls and metrics (including
cost and quality). He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He drew some criticism for this as there was a feeling that he should have promoted members from
inside the team. In addition to bringing in new team members, Nardelli s team chose to cut some
people, which was frowned upon and also criticized (Nussbaum, 2007).
As mentioned, Mr. Nardelli wanted to focus on the military style as the management model (Grow
2006). Out of 1,142 trainees in the leadership program, almost half (528) are junior military officers.
More than 100 of these became store managers (Grow 2006). 13% of Home Depot s 345,000
employees have military experience (Grow 2006).
The key members of the guiding coalition included (but were not limited to):

Implications Of Income Inequality
IMCOME INEQUALITY
Income inequality is the disparity of the income distribution between the rich and the poor within the
economy. Orton Rowlingson, (2007) believes that income inequality is also linked to poverty, where
someone or a household income falls below the national average income which is set by the
government which dictates a person s status. The Gini coefficient is the most common way which is
used to measure income inequality (Fernando,2007). The Gini coefficient measures inequality overall
of the society and compares different incomes from all groups. The country s Gini coefficient is
currently at 0.35. If all the income went to that one person and everyone else received nothing, the
Gini coefficient would be as an equal to 1. So, when the income is shared equally, every person gets
the same, which then the Gini coefficient would equal to 0. the lower the Gini value the more equal it
is for everyone in society. The Degree of Income Inequality
Sachs (2008) states in his book that inequality is one of the distressing crises that the world has seen
over the past 2 decades, even though it has been around for centuries. The Human development report
2002 shown that in the 1820 s, western Europe per capita income was over three greater than the per
capita income of Africa, yet in 1992 it had seen an increase up by 13.2 times. This reflects on a well
known phase that is used by people saying that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer . Over time
this has shown to be a problem where the gap between the rich and poor is just too big to be ignored.
The gap exits either the because the rich are getting even more richer and the poor are getting poorer.
(Slack and Rodrigue 2009) stated that the coefficient ranges from 0 to 1, which says 0 represents the
perfect equality whilst 1 means complete inequality. In some countries around the world the Gini
coefficient ranging from 0.25 to 0.06 (Anon, 2017). Definition Income inequality can happen why two

Limited Liability Companies ( Llc )
Limited liability companies (LLC) in my opinion would be the best way to go to start up a business.
With the ability of choosing which regime of taxation the business will identify with, protection from
liability for the debts accrued by the business, no double taxation on business and member, and having
the business counted as a separate entity, LLCs enjoy many of the benefits that corporations do, while
being counted as a default partnership where new LLC laws do not cover an issue. Opening a
restaurant as an LLC is ideal because of the lesser amount of paperwork that has to be done, and the
ability to have numerous members, permitting LLCs to exercise more efficiency which saves time
advertisement startup capital per member. While LLCs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, sensibly, the name must be unique. No LLC may use an existing name to identify as, to
prevent tax and brand confusion. Secondly, the business must identify clearly as an LLC somewhere
in its brand name. Last, one cannot include a restricted or prohibited word in the name of the
company, such as anything that can identify as a federal or state institution or infers that professionals
are part of the company where there are no such beings. As long as the business follows these three
rules, the business name will be automatically filed with the state, easing the creation of the business
by limiting the amount of paperwork to non duplication. The SBA goes on to state that one must file
articles of organization, which is a simple document that legitimizes your LLC and includes
information like your business name, address, and the names of its members. Following this, it is
prudent to create a business hierarchy, so that everyone involved in the business knows what they
should be doing, and how much of the operation is their responsibility. One should then file the
appropriate documents with the correct federal, state, or local offices, in order to receive a license to
operate. Some states require that new business announce their presence in local newspapers, but either
way, one should hire appropriate staff for the type of business one is beginning. The advantages of
forming an LLC, as stated before, allow members to enjoy tax and liability protection.

“the Role of the Project Manager Is to Command and...
TOPIC: The role of the Project Manager is to command and control. Critically discuss.
INTRODUCTION:
In management, command and control refers more generally to the maintenance of authority with
somewhat more distributed decision making [Command and Control Research Program 2011]. Being
an effective project manager is among the most challenging jobs in the industry for two reasons. First
it requires management skills and abilities different from those required in a traditional functional
management position. Second, there are very few training opportunities available to those moving into
the project management.[ Thornberry, Neal E. October 1987]. This article addresses the roles and
responsibility of a project manager which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Motivation is important because the individual s performance will be enhanced when they have a
sense of pride and confidence in their work. [Fryer, 2004,]
HOW COMMAND CONTROL MANAGEMENT CAN RESULT INTO NEGATIVE EFFECT:
A manager employee relationship is always a two way street. When a manager takes an unnecessarily
authoritative or commanding position with a subordinate, the employee feels less respected, and will
have a decreased desire to contribute. As a result, information flow up to the manager will be
diminished. This will only reduce the manager s ability to make good decisions, even to the point of
reducing their apparent competence.
Under pressure managers are more likely to use a command and control style of leadership during a
recession, but a leadership expert claims that whatever the economic climate, it is the wrong way to go
about improving corporate performance. Scott Watson, managing director of UK and Bahrain based
Summit Consulting and Training, which has trained and supported more than 10,000 executives and
managers in the UK and Arabian Gulf, says autocratic management styles stifle creativity, undermine
staff morale, destroy trust and ruin the potential for any worthwhile collaboration to maximise

Scenario: To open a Lemonade Stand in your local neighborhood.
Its summer time and the most important thing in hot weather is the need to quench your thirst. What is
a better drink then a refreshing Lemonade. Since long I was very much interested in opening a
lemonade stand, which I finally decided to have it implemented before the summer season starts. After
a lot of research and hard work I have come up with a business model that would work efficiently in
generating revenue and also help local community.
Brand:
The brand name that I came up with is a catchy and trendy word which I think represents the product
and justifies the product s need in hot season. The brand name would be GO COOL Real Lemonade.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pricing Strategy:
Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have to keep an eye on
the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and internationally. Even though the
business will be at the peak in summer and will slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the
international prices is a must. The future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by
giving out franchise. So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia
and New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit margin for the
franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are needed to be considered would be
Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities,
etc), 5% franchising fee and 7% profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be
added to the cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough money to
survive in the competitive market.
Global Market:
Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I would prefer to have
local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic lemonade without preservatives as we
promised. Also, opening a franchise will give local people employment, which is also a way to give
back to the community.
If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future

Phineas And Ferb Character Analysis
Phineas and Ferb is a children s television show that is played on the Disney Channel. The show is
about two step brothers, Phineas and Ferb, who are out of school for the summer and are in need of
activities to do during the day. The two boys always feel they have the need to do something new
every day of the summer. They always end up doing something extremely unrealistic and the activities
are almost always dangerous, especially if they were to be performed in real life. Their older sister,
Candace, is always trying to get the boys in trouble for the things that they are doing. There is also a
sub plot to this show which consists of the boys pet, Perry the Platypus, who is an undercover spy who
tries to take down the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I find this to be a big problem. With the representation of no special needs children, this only sends the
message to kids watching this show that only people without disabilities can perform activities. With
there being no view on this at all, this show missed out on a big platform to be able to show that
people with disabilities can do a lot of the things that others can do. Even though the idea of the show
is based around completely unrealistic events and activities, I would have included some sort of
representation of people with disabilities to show that they can do a lot of the same things that people
without disabilities can do. Including people with disabilities would have been a great way to show
children how to be accepting of people with disabilities and teach them that it is important to look past
someone s specific physical or intellectual disability. In one episode, the boys make a beach in their
backyard and invite the entire neighborhood to come and attend a big beach bash. The boys also create
the roller coaster and have a lot of people come ride it. In society, people with disabilities go to the
beach and are able to attend amusement parks; I think it would have been a great thing to include
someone with a disability and show how they are able to be accepted amongst kids. This show targets
a younger age group between

Rule Of Thirds Research Paper
The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional technique for making photos more interesting and
dynamic. It s also perhaps one of the most well known techniques. The rule of thirds states than an
image is most pleasing when its subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide
the image into thirds, both vertically and horizontally. It is actually quite amazing that a rule so
seemingly mathematical can be applied to something as varied and subjective as a photograph. But it
works, and surprisingly well. The rule of thirds is all about creating the right aesthetic trade offs. It
often creates a sense of balance without making the image appear too static and a sense of complexity
without making the image look too busy. What s usually most important is that your main subject or
region isn t always in the direct middle of the photograph. For landscapes, this usually means having
the horizon align with the upper or lower third of the image. For subjects, this ... Show more content

All rules are bound to be broken sooner or later and this one s no exception. A central tenet of the rule
of thirds is that it s not ideal to place a subject in the center of a photograph. There s many situations
where it might be better to ignore the rule of thirds than to use it. You might want to make your subject
look more confronting, for example. Alternatively, you might want to knock things out of balance. It s
important to ask yourself what is special about this subject, and what do I want to emphasize? What
mood do I want to convey? If the rule of thirds helps you achieve any of these goals, then use it. If not,
then don t let it get in the way of your composition. The rule of thirds is a powerful compositional
technique for making photos more interesting and dynamic, and attempting to use this technique
whenever possible gives your images the possibility to be more aesthetically

officials have the ability and backing of the American people to restrict and at times take ones freedom

has on multiple occasions attempted to discredit the capability of law enforcement across America.
Are these constant stories of law enforcement failures having a negative effect on the public s views

Guns Germs And Steel
In Jared Diamonds book, Guns, Germs, and Steel, he outlines the major factors that have contributed
to both European colonization, and subsequent Indigenous defeats, as well as to globalization.
Specifically, I will be expanding on the factors that contributed to Fernando Pizarro s miraculous, and
somewhat unlikely defeat of the Incan emperor Atahualpa at the battle of Cajamarca. Francisco
Pizarro s defeat of the Incan Emperor Atahualpa with only 168 Spaniards compared to an Incan army
500 times more numerous is seen historically as being a success by Diamond. This success can be
seen as being a conglomerate of different attributes rather than one single reason. To begin, the

In his book, Technology, Disease, and Colonial Conquests, Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries: Essays
Reappraising the Guns and Germs Theories, he argues that Cajamarca itself could be considered more
of a coup d etat than an actual battle. As Raudzens explains, according to the Spanish chronicler,
Garcilo de la Vega, the battle was a diplomatic conference, where the guest negotiators happened to
turn on their hosts, when they were themselves most vulnerable. To Raudzens, this battle seems to
have proven nothing about the military power of the Spanish, but rather of their nastiness over the
Incas. Another point expanded on by Rautzens is the Guns and Germs theory propagated by Diamond.
To Rautzen, the technological implications of the battle were a greater factor than that of disease, as
disease did not directly impede on the battle itself. As Garcilo de la Vega described about the battle,
the Spanish s battle tactics consisted of cannon and Gun fire, followed by a charge of 62 cavalry, and
lastly completed with armored men on foot. To Raudzen, many of these points are over dramatized in
many accounts. Both the horses, and the guns of the Spanish inhibited a large shock effect among the
Inca, but their guns could only fire once and were few. As for the horses, the majority of the fighting
was taking place in an urban setting, which limited their maneuvering ability. Also the Incas did
possess body armor, though it was not up to par with that of the Spanish s steel. He also agrees with
most scholars, (e.g. Diamond, Ibid, Hyman and Orish) in that the majority of the fighting took place
with swords. He ends by suggesting that rather than Pizarro s victory being one of a technological sort,
it was one in which was more marginal than

has an influence on glucose levels; If it does, then how much does it affect the levels? What is the
reason that outcome came about? These are just some of the questions that this study hoped to

with approximately 2t of half and half was drank at the same time. Breakfast was done being
consumed between 8:40AM 8:50AM. Blood glucose levels were then tested two hours after breakfast,
which fell between 10:40 10:50AM. Again, this exact schedule was followed for each day a baseline

There are four basic steps to build your new self image and it starts with the Imagination. It is with

something that is simple but it is not easy, it is something that the majority of people require aid with

#2 Decide what you are prepared to give up to get it.

Changes in Arabic Societies During teh 20th Century
The early 20th century saw major changes in Arabic societies, which initiated a new cultural order that
changed the lives of men and women alike. The sweeping changes associated with this period were
catalyzed by a massive immigration from the countryside into the rapidly expanding urban centers of
the region. There exist a variety of contributing factors to this migration: systems of land inheritance
that fragmented land into smaller parcels (decreasing an already declining income per capita); the
world wide economic crisis of the 1930s that further crippled the income of farmers, and the
disappearance of sustainable jobs. As a result, millions of rural dwelling peoples flocked to the cities
where the prospect of employment was most probable. The population of cities such as Cairo grew at
an even faster rate than that of the country itself, surging from 800,000 to 1,300,000 between 1917 and
1937 ( Hourani 335). This rapid increase led to a change in the layout of the cities, forming a variety
of different, class dividing quarters. Furthermore, the inter mingling of a variety of different cultures
and nationalities in these major urban centers stimulated the formation of a new era of social norms,
especially in Muslim societies. During this time of expansion, the general population became more
literate, necessitating a large increase in the number of books issued and printed. Literature of all kinds
was provided to a hungry audience, including textbooks, works of

The Basic Internet and Its Security
What is the basic internet and how do you make it safe? Most people in the world have a computer but
do not know what makes a computer a computer. Most people do not even know what device would
qualify as a computer. The computer is an important part of the twenty first century. The responsibility
of computer users goes beyond internet access. The computer has basic internet and security that is
needed to be followed. The internet guarantees a source of internet access nevertheless; a computers
security is the most important part of being a computer owner or user.
A computer has basic information that must be understood. A computer is a device that can manipulate
information or data. Computers can be a laptop, a tablet, a mobile phone, a server, and your everyday
desktop computer. On a computer you can stream movies, create documents, browse the web, or send
emails. To do these things on a computer hardware and software is needed.
What is hardware and software? Hardware is the physical attributes that make up a computer.
Hardware can be found on the inside and on the outside of the computer. Hardware that is on the
inside of a computer could be the motherboard which is the backbone of the computer. Another piece
of Hardware that is on the inside of a computer is the hard drive. The hard drive is used to store data in
the computer. The Hard drive is the largest data storage device in the

Examples Of Stereotypes In Cold Mountain
Appalachian Literature provides a way to gain insight about the common stereotypes that are applied
to specific gender. In literature, Appalachia men are shown to be valued less than outsiders as a result
of the stereotypes applied to them. They are perceived as lazy drunks and incompetent males, resulting
in outsiders viewing themselves as superior and Appalachian males as untrustworthy. Appalachian
men attempt to prove their worth, while maintaining their pride. In Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier,
Inman, who is from the mountains of Appalachia, goes off to war and leaves the war as soon as the
opportunity presents itself. Regardless of his appearance, during the time of the war Inman presents
himself with pride about where he came from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appearance is now a visual image that is introduced into the stereotypes of men in Appalachia. In the
films Lawless, The Dollmaker, and Songcatcher the men are consistently trying to prove themselves to
outsiders. In the films the men are portrayed as the stereotypical mountain man based on their
appearance and actions. There is a clear distinction between the outsider men and the Appalachian
men, simply by their physical appearance. The way the men dress in the films confirms the
stereotypical idea of how people in Appalachia dress, reinforcing stereotypical ideas that they are
untrustworthy and not equals. The majority of the Appalachian men wore overalls, dirty or torn
clothing, and had dirt on their face. In the eyes of the outsiders, the Appalachian men could not be
trusted because they looked dirty therefore were worth less than outsiders. In comparison to the eyes
of the Appalachian men, those who dressed in more formal clothing could not be trusted. In Lawless,
the Bondurant brothers dressed this way and outsiders believed they are not trustable because they fell
into the stereotype. In The Dollmaker, before the move to Detroit, Clovis dressed the same way, as
well as the other Appalachian men shown in the film. Also in the film Songcatcher, we see the
Appalachian men dress in similar ways. Once Jack Bondurant obtained money to afford to buy new
clothes, he was taken seriously and no longer threatened by the outsiders when he sold the moonshine
(Lawless). When Clovis moved into Detroit and obtained credit or money, he changes his appearance
to conform to the ways outsiders dressed therefore he no longer fit the stereotypical Appalachian man
in his appearance (The

Dilantin Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract Dilantin is an antiepileptic drug by acting on the nervous system and this lab synthesized
pure Dilantin through a multistep process. The first step involves using the coenzyme, thiamine, as a
catalyst to synthesize benzoin. Benzoin is oxidized to benzil using NH4NO3 to regenerate amounts of
cupric acetate, followed by reaction with urea in a base to yield Dilantin. Experimental physical
properties and spectral data were analyzed to show relatively pure Dilantin synthesized. Introduction:
The purpose of this multistep lab is to synthesize the drug Dilantin, which is part of the hydantoins
family of drugs well known for their effects on the nervous system to reduce epileptic seizures.1 The
synthesis will require three steps, starting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For benzil, the IR has sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretch (Table 1) that correspond to the
literature6, however, there is also the presence of an O H peak that is not expected and is due to the
presence of unreacted benzoin. This helps to explain the low yield of Dilantin (20.9%) because not all
of the crude benzil would have reacted as some of it would have been benzoin. The Dilantin was
successfully synthesis as the final product showed N H, sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretches
(Table 1) that correspond to the literature value6, but are less intense explained by the low yield. To
improve the yields of this multistep synthesis the procedure should be modified to allow a longer
reaction time to condense all of the benzaldehyde to benzoin in the first step as 1.5 h is not sufficient
as shown by the TLC. Furthermore, recrystallization should be performed after each synthetic step as
to remove impurities and potential side products that may

Ethics and Research
In 1932 the American Government conducted a study named the Tuskegee Syphilis study, this project
was administered by the US Health in Macon County, Alabama. The Government promises 600 plus
African American citizens access to free medication and access to proper health care. This study
subjects was all tested positive for Syphilis when they enrolled for the study. However, these subjects
were denied medicine and were experimented on to help the Government to better understand the
Syphilis virus. The men in this study weren t aware of the research design and possible danger to them

Tuskegee Syphilis Study didn t tell their subjects any particulars of the research and withheld
information from them. This study also brought up the concerns of the possibility that a person might
feel pressured to agree or might not understand what they agreeing to. (Heintzelman 2003 p.1). The
subjects agreed to free medication, which proposes the question that they might not of understood
what that entails.
Another issue with this is that the Government Doctors also failed to obtain informed consent from the
subjects; they disregarded the human rights of the subjects and committed medical misconduct. These
Doctors failed to provide medication, Penicillin, which was deemed safe by this study, to the subjects.
According to Ogungbure, although the black participants in the Tuskegee Study had no formal school
education, the medical experts were not morally justified to deprive them of their right to know about
the dangerous procedures they would be subjected to, including the painful spinal tap, unimaginable
psychological stress, and constant body piercing. (Ogungbure 2011 p 84)

Performance Environment Occupation Performance Model
Performance Environment Occupation Performance Model
Occupational Therapy, along with many other professions, have models that guide the profession.
These models, known as the Occupational based Models of Practice, guide Occupational Therapists in
the care of clients (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 87). Although there are many models, each model has its
own distinct features and focuses. Similar in many forms, they also have unique characteristics, and
each have a different emphasis. These models have the guiding principles of occupation defined as, a
basic human need, an essential component of human life, organizes behavior, gives meaning to life,
enables a healthy lifestyle, and improves an individual s quality of life (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 127). So
while all of the models are similar in some aspects in terms of occupation, each model is unique in
some aspects as well. The Person Environment Occupation Performance Model (PEOP) is one of the
five models, incorporating a client centered approach to a person s occupations (Cole Tufano, 2008, p.
8).
Focus
The Peron Environment Occupation Performance Model was published in 1991 by Charles
Christiansen and Carolyn Baum. This model is a client centered approach focusing on occupations,
and how these occupations are meaningful to the client. Within this model, it is important for the client
to decide the occupations that are important to themselves. The areas of occupation are,

The First Encounter
Assignment #2
Are we alone in the universe? Scientists have been trying to answer this question for many years. As
of now there has not been any rock solid evidence to prove that there is life outside this world, but
there is an overwhelming amount of people that believe that there is life. People only believe that
there is life outside earth, they don t know there is. It is hard to know that extra terrestrials exist unless
a person has an encounter with one. A person named Claude Vorilhon (Rael) had an encounter with an
alien and was told that we were all experiments to the aliens. The alien insisted for him to spread the

Hiroshima, Japan in 1945, Rael said it was at point where we entered the age of apocalypse. The
fourth belief is an embassy must be built for the arrival of the Elohim. quot;An unannounced and
undesired landing would have enormous political, economic, and social repercussions with disastrous
consequences worldwide. quot; If this embassy isn t built for their arrival, then the welfare of humans
may be in danger. The Elohim will only come to earth when an embassy is built. The fifth belief is that
there are infinite levels of life. Our earth is a small particle in the universe as we are a small part of our
earth, the living organisms in our bodies are small particles of our body, this cycle continues
indefinitely. Rael s message explains that our Earth is only one atom that forms a miniscule part of a
gigantic being. That gigantic being, in turn, is but one individual who lives on a planet that is only one
atom of an even larger being, and this structure exists indefinitely. The sixth belief is that the Raelians

Garry Marvin s On Being Human In The Bullfight
The use of animals for sport, hunting and entertainment is a part of every culture and has been for a
long period of time. Despite more recent efforts to combat the use of animals for human pleasure,
there are still practices that are deeply ingrained in cultures that people are unwilling to give up. In
many cases of humans using animals for their benefit, the animal s welfare is endangered and they are
put in situations that are unnatural and may ultimately result in their death. A prime example of this is
the practice of dogfighting, which is outlawed in many countries but still remains a profitable and
entertaining sport for many. While many people are aware of cruel animal practices such as this across
the world, it is often difficult to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act of a matador taking control over such a large, living being not only exhibits many traditional
masculine characteristics but is also a representation of a human s ability and the power to be able to
control such a wild and uncertain animal. In Garry Marvin s piece, On being Human in the Bullfight
he explains that in a bullfight when the bull is being harpooned by the colorful banderillas and the
matador is performing logical and intelligent moves, the bull is effectively losing its nature and being
tamed. Since the torero is required to follow a set of guidelines for his fight with the bull, he gains
respect for his opponent and skillfully uses practiced movements to defeat the animal, instead of using
modern weapons that would leave no competition. This public spectacle of defeating nature has held
cultural significance in Spain for hundreds of years and has long been a symbol of their country. While
individuals may find this sport offensive and brutal, the long standing it has had in Spanish culture has
ultimately protected the practice from being terminated. Recently, in an article written by Raphael
Minder in the New York Times, he explained that Catalonia had effectively banned bullfighting for
eight years but it has just been overturned. Minder wrote, conservative government of Prime Minister
Mariano Rajoy...introduced new legislation to more clearly define bullfighting as part of Spain s
cultural heritage. For the people who advocate for the games continuance, the use of the bull in the
fight means they are carrying on a century old Spanish culture and productively showing human force

The Themes in Young Goodman Brown
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown the reader finds several themes. These will be
discussed in this essay.
Morse Peckham in The Development of Hawthorne s Romanticism explains what he interprets
Hawthorne s main theme to be:
Once the self has been redeemed from society it can be explored in its own terms, and for this purpose
Hawthorne developed his peculiar use of emblematic allegory. . . . This technique, though Hawthorne

personality and the worlds. . . .Henceforth Hawthorne s theme is the redemption of the self through the

The humor in Young Goodman Brown is not so apparent to this reader as is the love; I refer to the
deep love which Goodman has for his wife, Faith. When he says goodbye and starts down the street,
headed for the forest, the protagonist really feels a deep consideration for Faith s feelings:
Poor little Faith! thought he, for his heart smote him. What a wretch am I, to leave her on such an
errand! She talks of dreams, too. Methought, as she spoke, there was trouble in her face, as if a dream
had warned her what work is to be done tonight. But, no, no! twould kill her to think it. Well; she s a
blessed angel on earth; and after this one night, I ll cling to her skirts and follow her to Heaven.
This love of Brown s continues throughout the tale. Enroute along the path with the sinister fellow
traveler, Goodman repeatedly recalls his feelings for his wife:
Well, then, to end the matter at once, said Goodman Brown, considerably nettled, there is my wife,
Faith. It would break her dear little heart; and I d rather break my own!
Friend, said he, stubbornly, my mind is made up. Not another step will I budge on this errand. What if
a wretched old woman do choose to go to the devil, when I thought she was going to Heaven! Is that
any reason why I should quit my dear
Faith, and go after her?

Volcano s A Volcano Eruption By Cliff Montgomery
Volcano How to Survive Them.
When it comes to surviving, people will take whatever means are necessary to live just a little bit
longer. An example of this could be a point in the movie Titanic. In order to survive the boat sinking,
Rose rested on a piece of furniture that was drifting in the water. As a result, she was one of the few
people to actually be alive and rescued when the boats came back. When it comes to survival, at that
moment in time there is no rule book on what measure one can take to survive but a person should
know the basics. Volcanoes are a good example of this. Volcano s: How to Survive a Volcano Eruption
by Cliff Montgomery s article is effective because it acknowledges what is in a volcano, explain what
to do when a volcano is erupting and provides knowledge about what to watch out for.
In the article: Volcano s How to Survive a Volcano Eruption by Cliff Montgomery , he gives people a
knowledge of Volcano s in depth. Montgomery first starts out giving background information about
places where volcano eruptions have occurred what the effects of those eruptions have done to the city
and the people. Next, he goes into the workshop about how volcano s work and what is exactly inside
of them that does so much harm. Lastly, he mentions is how to protect one s self when the volcano
erupts before and after the eruption.
No one really knows how volcanoes came to be but we know what is inside one. An example of this

You don t want to be in the fight or flight response at bed time. This natural circadian rhythm makes

But why you ask. Why are cortisol levels highest in the morning? For at least two major reasons. One.
Too get you up out of bed and ready to take on the day. Two. Working together with the hormone
glucagon cortisol raises blood sugar levels to power up your muscles and your brain! Remember you
have been fasting overnight and blood sugar levels will be low. The brain demands the body do this
and keep blood sugar levels stabilized.
Cortisol and fat accumulation
A little piece of data you need to know to lose fat. Cortisol breaks down muscle to release amino acids
(the building blocks of muscle) which are then used to make glucose, which is energy for the brain!
Think about this, where do you burn fat? In your muscles right. If you catabolise the very tissue that
burns fat you will lose your ability to burn fat and you metabolism will drop making it more difficult
to burn fat. Oh yes, you will be more tired with low energy. Cortisol also promotes belly fat
accumulation!
Further, cortisol contributes to elevated insulin with is the blood sugar balancing hormone. Elevated
insulin has two effects on fat. One it promotes fat storage. Two it inhibits fat mobilization and
utilization by muscles. Elevated insulin makes you store fat which you can t burn! YUCK!
So why is breakfast so

School Counselor Reflection
As a future school counselor, I can reflect that these past eight weeks, I have a full understanding of
the roles and responsibilities of a school counselor in a traditional high school. Practicum 2 has been
learning experiences that I will remember as I start my new profession. I believe that being exposed

Counseling Helping Relationships Serving students with different backgrounds, personalities, or
beliefs may not be the easiest thing to do, as their thought process may differ. Therefore, it is essential
for school counselors to find healthy ways to build on a school counselor student relationship. There

maintain a relationship with their students. Students can be more willing to open up their thoughts or
accept suggestions when the school counselor is a good listener. A lot of the times, we can think that
we have to do all the talking, but is necessary to step back and listen at the students first. Also, school
counselors must be friendly and easy to approach. Students can feel more comfortable with
individuals they like and accept. In addition, it is essential for all school counselors to appreciate

Gender Stereotypes In The Hollywood Industry
In continuation, the Hollywood industry reinforces gender stereotypes through various forms of
media. The films and advertisements that construct gender stereotypes are perpetuated by the media.
The stereotypes include that men are powerful, successful, and employ women for films and television
shows, whereas women are fragile, underrepresented, and need assistance in order to become
successful. For example, Weinstein was able to manipulate several women that he could give them a
career and help them succeed in the industry in return for sexual favors and his advantage was his
powerful position as a man in the Hollywood industry. In continuation, Trump used his position to
degrade women, for example he called a famous actress Heidi Klum unattractive and not a ten on his
scale of attractiveness. Trump considers his right to be surrounded by beautiful women and cannot
distinguish between a women s value from her physical appearance. After Trump and Weinstein were
accused of sexual harassment, people on social media started a campaign called #MeToo which
allowed women and men from all over the world share their stories about sexual assault and
harassment. The campaign consisted of speeches, protests, and awareness of how many people are
dealing with and experience harassment on a daily basis. The purpose of the #MeToo movement was
simply an attempt to get people to understand the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in
society and to get women, and men, to raise their

A Study On Chemical Reactions
Tony Metz 9/18/14
Prussing School 006/7th
Review of Literature A chemical reaction is the communication (or interaction) between elements
(Green, 2012). Chemical reactions can happen naturally or can be caused by a person. They can even
happen inside of a living being (Newmark, 2000). Some chemical reactions can just happen randomly
and others need different amounts of energy for them to occur. Heat can provide chemicals with the
energy for this to happen. For example, dynamite is extremely sensitive to any shock. When it senses
the sparks of a lit fuse, a fast chemical reaction between fuel and a source that will burn it causes the

Baking soda contains sodium bicarbonate and is an ingredient used in cooking. It can also be called
NaHCO3 (Science Buddies, 2002 2014). It raises bread while in the oven and creates small holes full
of oxygen. The oxygen created is part of the combustion of the chemical reaction. Another way to say
sodium bicarbonate is sodium hydrogen carbonate (Oxlade, 2002). Baking soda can be used to create
a chemical reaction. One common combination including baking soda is the combination of baking
soda and vinegar. This reaction is a main part of my project. Baking soda also has properties that help
keep healthy skin and can protect the body and feet from infections. It has no smell and it is white and
powdery. Baking soda can provide resistance from the common cold and the flu (2014, Organic

(it is a pretty weak acid). It can also be called CH3COOH (Science Buddies, 2002 2014). The pH
scale measures if something is an acid or a base and determines how acidic or basic the substance is.
Its main components are acetic acid and water. Vinegar is used to preserve foods and is also used as a

Atomic Age Pros And Cons
When the words nuclear chemistry come to mind, many mixed emotions surface. On one side, a
picture of devastated cities that were flattened by a bomb capable of freezing the shadows of people
on the streets comes to mind. And the other picture: harnessing exponential amounts of energy, saving
lives, and defeating cancer once and for all. No matter what stance is taken, the Atomic Age has both
turned people against each other, but also has provided grounds for defeating a disease that hits each
and every one of us at home, and that disease is cancer. When weighing the pros and cons of the
Atomic Age, the pros clearly outweigh the cons. This era has brought upon clean, reusable energy,
medical advancements beyond our dreams, and a better understanding of invisible radiation. One of
the greatest proponents of the Atomic Age is the aspect of clean, reusable energy. This method of
obtaining energy was long sought after, and lead to many failures. Prior to this era, cities and other
societies relied strictly on coal, hydroelectric, and natural gases and oils. These all had their faults, or
were negative in many ways. For example, the amount of coal that was being burnt was leading our
supply to last for about another hundred years. As the years progressed and atomic science was being
diversified, the world s reliance on coal was lessening. One of the first major breakthroughs with
nuclear chemistry was the triggering of Uranium 235 to split its nucleus, releasing energy beyond

Possibilities And Challenges Of Interreligious And Secular...
Possibilities and challenges of interreligious and secular dialogue in today s world. According to Zago,
globalization was imminent and interreligious contact unavoidable, leading to religious pluralism. The
tendency was increasing and creating challenge to mission, which would create not only meetings but
also clashes among various religions. He anticipates the need of attitudes and initiatives for
interreligious dialogue, but this Dialogue, however, must not eliminate proclamation that remains at
the heart of mission and is the criterion by which to judge the validity of mission and to promote
discernment in elaborating a theology of mission and dialogue. Religious pluralism presents
challenges and opportunities for Christians to understand their own being, their mission, and
relationship with other religions. Some tensions that may exist in duality are:
fundamentalism/relativism, proclamation/dialogue, identity/openness, inculturation/syncretism, local
autonomy/human rights, and freedom/reciprocity. Fundamentalism/relativism. These tensions could be
beneficial or a problem especially when fundamentalism becomes radical. For instance, the situation

Orton Rowlingson, (2007) believes that income inequality is also linked to poverty, where someone or a household income falls below the national average income which is set by the government which dictates a person s status. The Gini coefficient is the most common way which is used to measure income inequality (Fernando,2007). The Gini coefficient measures inequality overall of the society and compares different incomes from all groups. The country s Gini coefficient is currently at 0.35. If all the income went to that one person and everyone else received nothing, the Gini coefficient would be as an equal to 1. So, when the income is shared equally, every person gets the same, which then the Gini coefficient would equal to 0. the lower the Gini value the more equal it is for everyone in society. The Degree of Income Inequality Sachs (2008) states in his book that inequality is one of the distressing crises that the world has seen over the past 2 decades, even though it has been around for centuries. The Human development report 2002 shown that in the 1820 s, western Europe per capita income was over three greater than the per capita income of Africa, yet in 1992 it had seen an increase up by 13.2 times. This reflects on a well known phase that is used by people saying that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer . Over time this has shown to be a problem where the gap between the rich and poor is just too big to be ignored. The gap exits either the because the rich are getting even more richer and the poor are getting poorer. (Slack and Rodrigue 2009) stated that the coefficient ranges from 0 to 1, which says 0 represents the perfect equality whilst 1 means complete inequality. In some countries around the world the Gini coefficient ranging from 0.25 to 0.06 (Anon, 2017). With the ability of choosing which regime of taxation the business will identify with, protection from liability for the debts accrued by the business, no double taxation on business and member, and having the business counted as a separate entity, LLCs enjoy many of the benefits that corporations do, while being counted as a default partnership where new LLC laws do not cover an issue. As long as the business follows these three rules, the business name will be automatically filed with the state, easing the creation of the business by limiting the amount of paperwork to non duplication. The SBA goes on to state that one must file articles of organization, which is a simple document that legitimizes your LLC and includes information like your business name, address, and the names of its members. Following this, it is prudent to create a business hierarchy, so that everyone involved in the business knows what they should be doing, and how much of the operation is their responsibility. One should then file the appropriate documents with the correct federal, state, or local offices, in order to receive a license to operate. INTRODUCTION: In management, command and control refers more generally to the maintenance of authority with somewhat more distributed decision making [Command and Control Research Program 2011]. Being an effective project manager is among the most challenging jobs in the industry for two reasons. First it requires management skills and abilities different from those required in a traditional functional management position. Second, there are very few training opportunities available to those moving into the project management.[ Thornberry, Neal E. October 1987]. Motivation is important because the individual s performance will be enhanced when they have a sense of pride and confidence in their work. [Fryer, 2004,] HOW COMMAND CONTROL MANAGEMENT CAN RESULT INTO NEGATIVE EFFECT: A manager employee relationship is always a two way street. When a manager takes an unnecessarily authoritative or commanding position with a subordinate, the employee feels less respected, and will have a decreased desire to contribute. As a result, information flow up to the manager will be diminished. This will only reduce the manager s ability to make good decisions, even to the point of reducing their apparent competence. Pricing Strategy: Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have to keep an eye on the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and internationally. Even though the business will be at the peak in summer and will slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the international prices is a must. The future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by giving out franchise. So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia and New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit margin for the franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are needed to be considered would be Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities, etc), 5% franchising fee and 7% profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be added to the cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough money to survive in the competitive market. Global Market: Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I would prefer to have local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic lemonade without preservatives as we promised. Also, opening a franchise will give local people employment, which is also a way to give back to the community. If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future ... The rule of thirds states than an image is most pleasing when its subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide the image into thirds, both vertically and horizontally. It is actually quite amazing that a rule so seemingly mathematical can be applied to something as varied and subjective as a photograph. But it works, and surprisingly well. It often creates a sense of balance without making the image appear too static and a sense of complexity without making the image look too busy. Francisco Pizarro s defeat of the Incan Emperor Atahualpa with only 168 Spaniards compared to an Incan army 500 times more numerous is seen historically as being a success by Diamond. In his book, Technology, Disease, and Colonial Conquests, Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries: Essays Reappraising the Guns and Germs Theories, he argues that Cajamarca itself could be considered more of a coup d etat than an actual battle. As Raudzens explains, according to the Spanish chronicler, Garcilo de la Vega, the battle was a diplomatic conference, where the guest negotiators happened to turn on their hosts, when they were themselves most vulnerable. To Raudzens, this battle seems to have proven nothing about the military power of the Spanish, but rather of their nastiness over the Incas. Another point expanded on by Rautzens is the Guns and Germs theory propagated by Diamond. To Rautzen, the technological implications of the battle were a greater factor than that of disease, as disease did not directly impede on the battle itself. As Garcilo de la Vega described about the battle, the Spanish s battle tactics consisted of cannon and Gun fire, followed by a charge of 62 cavalry, and lastly completed with armored men on foot. To Raudzen, many of these points are over dramatized in many accounts. Both the horses, and the guns of the Spanish inhibited a large shock effect among the Inca, but their guns could only fire once and were few. As for the horses, the majority of the fighting was taking place in an urban setting, which limited their maneuvering ability. Also the Incas did possess body armor, though it was not up to par with that of the Spanish s steel. He also agrees with most scholars, (e.g. Diamond, Ibid, Hyman and Orish) in that the majority of the fighting took place with swords. Changes in Arabic Societies During teh 20th Century The early 20th century saw major changes in Arabic societies, which initiated a new cultural order that changed the lives of men and women alike. The sweeping changes associated with this period were catalyzed by a massive immigration from the countryside into the rapidly expanding urban centers of the region. There exist a variety of contributing factors to this migration: systems of land inheritance that fragmented land into smaller parcels (decreasing an already declining income per capita); the world wide economic crisis of the 1930s that further crippled the income of farmers, and the disappearance of sustainable jobs. As a result, millions of rural dwelling peoples flocked to the cities where the prospect of employment was most probable. The population of cities such as Cairo grew at an even faster rate than that of the country itself, surging from 800,000 to 1,300,000 between 1917 and 1937 ( Hourani 335). This rapid increase led to a change in the layout of the cities, forming a variety of different, class dividing quarters. There is a clear distinction between the outsider men and the Appalachian men, simply by their physical appearance. The way the men dress in the films confirms the stereotypical idea of how people in Appalachia dress, reinforcing stereotypical ideas that they are untrustworthy and not equals. Performance Environment Occupation Performance Model Performance Environment Occupation Performance Model Occupational Therapy, along with many other professions, have models that guide the profession. These models, known as the Occupational based Models of Practice, guide Occupational Therapists in the care of clients (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 87). Although there are many models, each model has its own distinct features and focuses. Similar in many forms, they also have unique characteristics, and each have a different emphasis. These models have the guiding principles of occupation defined as, a basic human need, an essential component of human life, organizes behavior, gives meaning to life, enables a healthy lifestyle, and improves an individual s quality of life (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 127). So while all of the models are similar in some aspects in terms of occupation, each model is unique in some aspects as well. The Person Environment Occupation Performance Model (PEOP) is one of the five models, incorporating a client centered approach to a person s occupations (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 8). Focus The Peron Environment Occupation Performance Model was published in 1991 by Charles Christiansen and Carolyn Baum. This model is a client centered approach focusing on occupations, and how these occupations are meaningful to the client. As of now there has not been any rock solid evidence to prove that there is life outside this world, but there is an overwhelming amount of people that believe that there is life. People only believe that there is life outside earth, they don t know there is. It is hard to know that extra terrestrials exist unless a person has an encounter with one. Despite more recent efforts to combat the use of animals for human pleasure, there are still practices that are deeply ingrained in cultures that people are unwilling to give up. In many cases of humans using animals for their benefit, the animal s welfare is endangered and they are put in situations that are unnatural and may ultimately result in their death. A prime example of this is the practice of dogfighting, which is outlawed in many countries but still remains a profitable and entertaining sport for many. The act of a matador taking control over such a large, living being not only exhibits many traditional masculine characteristics but is also a representation of a human s ability and the power to be able to control such a wild and uncertain animal. In Garry Marvin s piece, On being Human in the Bullfight he explains that in a bullfight when the bull is being harpooned by the colorful banderillas and the matador is performing logical and intelligent moves, the bull is effectively losing its nature and being tamed. Since the torero is required to follow a set of guidelines for his fight with the bull, he gains respect for his opponent and skillfully uses practiced movements to defeat the animal, instead of using modern weapons that would leave no competition. This public spectacle of defeating nature has held cultural significance in Spain for hundreds of years and has long been a symbol of their country. While individuals may find this sport offensive and brutal, the long standing it has had in Spanish culture has ultimately protected the practice from being terminated. Recently, in an article written by Raphael Minder in the New York Times, he explained that Catalonia had effectively banned bullfighting for eight years but it has just been overturned. Minder wrote, conservative government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy...introduced new legislation to more clearly define bullfighting as part of Spain s cultural heritage. For the people who advocate for the games continuance, the use of the bull in the fight means they are carrying on a century old Spanish culture and productively showing human force over the ... The films and advertisements that construct gender stereotypes are perpetuated by the media. The stereotypes include that men are powerful, successful, and employ women for films and television shows, whereas women are fragile, underrepresented, and need assistance in order to become successful. For example, Weinstein was able to manipulate several women that he could give them a career and help them succeed in the industry in return for sexual favors and his advantage was his powerful position as a man in the Hollywood industry. In continuation, Trump used his position to degrade women, for example he called a famous actress Heidi Klum unattractive and not a ten on his scale of attractiveness. Trump considers his right to be surrounded by beautiful women and cannot distinguish between a women s value from her physical appearance. After Trump and Weinstein were accused of sexual harassment, people on social media started a campaign called #MeToo which allowed women and men from all over the world share their stories about sexual assault and harassment. The campaign consisted of speeches, protests, and awareness of how many people are dealing with and experience harassment on a daily basis. According to Zago, globalization was imminent and interreligious contact unavoidable, leading to religious pluralism. He anticipates the need of attitudes and initiatives for interreligious dialogue, but this Dialogue, however, must not eliminate proclamation that remains at the heart of mission and is the criterion by which to judge the validity of mission and to promote discernment in elaborating a theology of mission and dialogue. Religious pluralism presents challenges and opportunities for Christians to understand their own being, their mission, and relationship with other religions. During the uncontrolled riots on that traumatic night, over 100 Jews lost their lives, there was more than 30,000 Jews arrested and sent to jails or concentration camps, 2,000 Jewish community buildings and synagogues were destroyed, and over 7,500 Jewish stores were looted (Schwartz 50).
