Capital Budgeting
The main principle of the capital budget is to channel the total distribution of state expenditures for
public services. To present the greatest possible outline of current and planned capital investments and
assure state governments ability to borrow will not increase nor decrease. This paper will discuss how
the debt capacity of state is established and then discuss and assess the effect of repaying or
reorganizing current debt commitment. This paper will also discuss different funding substitutes that
can be used to support debt commitment. This paper will utilized the City of Toledo, whose capital
budget is a 4 year plan, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Lee, Johnson, amp; Joyce (2008), Capital budgets assist in deciding how much of each
type of investment is necessary, and assist in evaluating available revenues (including loans) to
finance those investments.
States and most local governments do not use current revenues to pay for their capital projects. For
example, the construction of prisons, school building, or public university. These projects are usually
financed from bond revenues. The purchasers of the bond lend the funds to the states that are
necessary to finance the project. States, in turn, pledge to pay the bondholders the principal of the loan
plus a stipulated rate of return according to Gosling (2002). According to Lee, Johnson, amp; Joyce
(2008), In the United States, although some local governments borrow from banks for temporary
operating funds, the main source of debt finance is the issuance of bonds.
Determining Debt Capacity
The City of Toledo has a bond insurance practice, and funds which contains working with fiscal
working groups in planning of the Order, disclosure information, and the organizing of the bond
transactions. The City of Toledo has numerous different fund, as well as the General Fund, the Capital
Fund and several others. All revenues and disbursements flow into and out of one or more funds (City
of Toledo, 2014). The vast bulk of the attention paid throughout the budget

Caltron Financial Ratios
III. Analysis Performance of Caltron Ltd. over the three years of operations as compared to the
industry averages figures. Financial ratios approach is used to better understand the overall health of
the company. Financial ratios can be divided into five categories. There are: 1. LIQUIDITY OR
SOLVENCY RATIOS a. Current Ratio Theoretically, current ratio of 1 means that the company have
cash and cash equivalents that are equal to current debt. Current ratio above 1 defines that company
has sufficient cash and cash equivalents to pay back the current liabilities. While current ratio below 1
define that company lack of cash and cash equivalents to pay back the current liabilities. In 2001
Caltron Ltd. has the current ratio of 2.99 and it proved that it has high liquidity due the current ratio
higher than industry average of 2.7. During 2002 Caltron Ltd. has current ratio of 1.89, which is below
the industry average but still manageable where any current ratio above than 1 still consider good
liquidity measure of the company. However, in 2003, Caltron Ltd. has current ratio 1.39 which is
lower than the previous year. Caltron Ltd. has a slight higher current ratio in 2001 as ... Show more

The Pros And Cons Of Blue-Sky Research
By blue sky research, Sir John Vane means researching and spending time partaking in activities that a
person is genuinely interested in, not wasting time on activities with a goal of reaching an end product
or result. Rather than using research as a means of self indulgence, Sir John Vane uses the notion of
blue sky research to instead participate in what one is interested in. Advantages to blue sky research
include the development of Bayer aspirin and its effects on society today. Through genuine interest,
Felix Hoffman was able to stumble upon the creation of aspirin, something beneficial to millions
today. Ian Frazier connects blue sky research to playing in the woods with an explanation of marginal
activities. Marginal activities are activities that certain members of society, depending on their place or
age, participate in with genuine interest and enjoyment. For example, an adult would not be seen
playing in the woods, as opposed to a child. Inversely, a child would not be seen studying about the
stock exchange. With these supposed cultural constructs, Ian Frazier reminisces about when he would
play in the woods with genuine interest and satisfaction. Ian Frazier s marginal activity connects to Sir
John Vane s blue sky research through the fact that both include genuine, satisfying activities that
enrich the community. As explained in Sir John Vane s essay, Blue Sky Research, such research
[holds] great promise for the community, helping reverse today s urgency to show a return, (346).
Because of Frazier s enjoyment, playing in the woods was not a rushed activity, connecting to blue sky
research and helping push Sir John Vane s philosophy.
I agree that without such research, society would indeed be poorer, as would be our health. Blue sky
research is needed for the betterment of society today. Without a genuine interest or satisfaction in an
activity, one would not have a place or fit in society. Going to work somewhere dreadful may be
possible through the eyes of some, but those same people still go somewhere after work fueled with
enjoyment and genuine interest, ready to be partake in a hobby and start the highlight of the day. The
specific activity, however, is usually up to the person

The Case Of British Airways
Discussion Board # 1
Johan Rivera
Liberty University British Airways (BA) is a company that encountered several difficulties back in the
1970 s and 1980 s. The poor performances of the organization, was leading the company to failure.
BA was offering a service that even though it accomplished the mission of the company, was not
providing customer satisfaction. The organization was not taking into consideration the needs of the
costumer and was not providing an acceptable customer service experience. Productivity at BA in the
1970s was strikingly bad, especially in contrast to other leading foreign airlines (Jick, Peiperl, 2010,
p.28). Due to numerous changes, the company increased their revenues and became a respectful and
well know organization.
Re Energizing
In the reading Re energizing the Mature Organization , the authors provide several stages that
organizations can approach in order to achieved success in organizational change. The case of British
Airways, can be related to this article because the company went through the changing challenges that
allowed the organization to overcome the idea of failure. BA understood that in order to increase sales
and remain competitive, they had to develop new strategies and concepts that would re energize the
company. Mr. Colin Marshall, Chief Executive of British Airways, took the responsibility to grow and
re stablish the costumer services department. As a leader, he provided tools that allowed employees to

How Does Rap Music Affect Human Behavior
This paper will explore and discuss the effects of rap/hip hop music on the behavior of adolescents in
the Unites States. The issue revolves around the possible negative impact of rap music on young
minds, due to the use of profanity, reference to killing, sexually graphic verses, and inappropriate
videos that are common in such music. The problem is seen to be pervasive, and quite controversial,
receiving attention from researchers, academics, and parents who worry about how such music can
influence teens and impact their safety. Some believe that rap has had a positive influence on teens,
while others believe that it promotes violence (Jackson, 2015). This paper will attempt to explore the
link between music and human behavior in general, and then focus specifically on whether listening to
rap/hip hop can be detrimental for adolescents. Music is a means of communication and leisure that is
consumed by and influences numerous individuals and households. People are exposed to countless
songs and genres on a daily basis through radio, television and streaming media. Originally, music
was just a way to express emotional feelings, have fun, or make a political statement. In current times,
however, music is a major industry, kept fresh with new musicians and recycling of different genres. A
popular genre among teenagers is rap/hip hop music, which is known to contain open references to
drugs, sex and violence. This is particularly concerning since teenagers listen to

Liberal Arts Degree Benefits
The use of a liberal arts degree is considerably useful and you should certainly strive towards one. The
professor in this essay believes that the perception of getting a liberal arts degree is commonly
misconceived as being a degree for hobbies and not for the workforce. The argument centers around
the many uses of a liberal arts degree that offer people multiple opportunities for them to find a career.
The point of this essay is to evaluate and provide facts of the uses of these degrees and how these
degrees will help you in the workforce.
The earning of liberal arts degrees is not simply luxury that you can t afford, rather it s a skill that is
earned and used in everyday life. The common misconception that the author goes into is that liberal

When in reality there are plenty of jobs looking for certain employees with these acquired set of skills.
The idea that you get a degree just to get a high paying job is a very misguided suggestion. The reason
why this is the case is that most people when they earn their degree they will immediately get a high
paying job. The process of getting a career is what makes enticing other people to get a liberal arts
degree difficult. It sends the wrong message saying that you have to get a job in a said career
immediately after you graduate. The author brings up that the problem with this sentiment is that most
great jobs don t even exist yet. It is proven that by getting a liberal arts degree will allow you to gain a
well established job in due time. Think of it as an investment into education except the education that
you are investing are the things that you enjoy doing in life and most likely a job will be created for

Astonishing Strength Characteristics of Stone Thrower Wales Defects in Graphene under Compressive

ABSTRACT: One atom thick sheet of carbon discovered this century is flaunted not just for its
electrical properties but also for its physical strength and flexibility. The bonds between carbon atoms
are well known as the strongest in nature, so a perfect sheet of graphene should withstand just about
anything, but to use it in real time applications, we have to understand the useful strength of graphene.
So for, researchers have looked extensively at graphene s electronic properties and tensile strength,
nobody, had taken comprehensive measurements of its ability to withstand a compressive load. We
find that, counter to standard reasoning, graphene sheets with Stone Thrower Wales (STW) defects are
able to bear high compressive stress as compared to pristine graphene. We show that this trend can be
understood by considering the critical bonds in the seven and five membered carbon rings which bears
the maximum compressive stress. Graphene with STW defects is stronger in compressive strength
point of view because they are able to better accommodate these strained rings. Our results provide
guidelines for designing graphene with STW defects to obtain maximum compressive strength, so that
we can get the benefit of this

Lamarck s theory is the theory of inheritance acquired characteristics.
His theory explains that an animal adapts and evolves to their environment then this was passed down
to their offspring (Quinton, Cash, Tilley, Craven, 2012)
Darwin s theory states that animals grow up and develop through the process of natural selection and
inherit variations that increases their chances for survival of the fittest they then pass this onto future

Llamas are most common for living on farms and zoos they are generally fed grains pellets and grass
hay also fibre is an essential in llama s diets. Llamas are very social animals and live with other llamas
in a herd people use llama to make wool and llama wool is very soft and lanolin free. Llamas are very

Representation Of Women Research Paper
The ways we see women in our society are still as inferiority gender. We have altered modes of
portraying women s, but the result has been the same for a long time, and digging down all those
aspects that make women inferiority, we may find beauty as a reason not sufficient but necessary,
which explain that. Beauty as an instrument that may account for women s inequality, and its relation
with hierarchies and social roles.
This essay explores some forms what understudy women s subordination, specifically, the idea of
representation of beauty as a social construction like gender. Beauty has been and will be something
that we categorize, as a result, we create social patterns, which change over times, but it maintains a
close link with gender roles and stereotypes. Those dynamics that women must follow. Instead of
trying to understand the modern way of being beautiful, just only in the idea of physical features, I
will show how beauty has different meanings in western culture as way of performance or acting.
Beauty is something that women want to posses. Beauty has been a subject that has not had a specific

Magical Realism In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Does The Metamorphosis belong under the magical realism genre? The Metamorphosis by Franz
Kafka is a short story describing the transformation of a lonely traveling salesman, Gregor, to a
gigantic insect. Besides describing Gregor s physical metamorphosis, the story also depicts Gregor s
mental metamorphosis from a human to an insect. In addition to Gregor s personal metamorphosis,
Kafka illustrates Gregor s family s transformation from tolerating Gregor to treating him with hatred,
disrespect, and disgust. In Bruce Holland Rogers s article What Is Magical Realism, Really? , he
defined magical realism as having repetitions in time and combining magical and ordinary elements.
Throughout Kafka s description of these events, it is clear that The Metamorphosis should be
categorized under magical realism because it combines magical and realistic elements and uses
repetition of time and distortion of identity, similar to many other magical realism works such as
Axolotl by Julio CortΓ‘zar and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Magical realism stories combine realistic and magical details to illustrate a real world with imaginary
elements. For example, in A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , the old angel has huge buzzard
wings, dirty and half plucked, forever entangled in the mud ( A Very Old 1). The wings are clearly
magical elements, but they are forever entangled in the mud , a realistic element. This entanglement
between magical and realistic elements is a common literary device found in magical realism.
Therefore, Kafka s combination of magical elements, such as Gregor s insect body, and realistic
elements like Gregor s family and bedroom, supports the classification of The Metamorphosis under
the genre of magical realism. When Gregor woke up from unpleasant dreams in the beginning of the
story, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect (89). This is clearly a magical
element, as it is obviously impossible for a human to turn into an insect in one night (or any amount of
time). Although Gregor goes through very dramatic changes, his regular human bedroom remains the
same. Aside from having an insect body, Gregor s surroundings, such as his

Animal Testing Should Not Be Banned Essay
An animal is taken, injected with all kinds substances, then killed from the tests ran by researchers.
Meanwhile, an old woman is laying on her death bed waiting for the same researchers to find a cure
but dies before researchers can succeed. Which scenario do you think is worse? This is a difficult
question and may not have an answer. Animal testing has been around for centuries starting with early
Greek physicians around 384 BC. These Greek physicians included Aristotle, Erasistratus, and Galen,
who all created huge contributions to medical history. Throughout history animal testing has helped to
cure many diseases including polio, diabetes, smallpox, and many more. These cures have helped save
thousands of lives and would not have been possible without the help of animals. However, these
contributions did not occur without the cost of hurting animals in the process. There have been some
laws, like the federal food, drug, and cosmetic act, that requires safety testing of drugs on animals
before they can be sold. Both animal lives and human lives are affected by animal testing in many
ways, making this topic very important. 100 million animals die each year due to animal testing but
there are also many diseases that haven t been cured, making animal testing necessary. Animal testing
has both saved lives and taken them away. Us humans have to decide how many animal lives are
worth the knowledge gained. In this paper I will address and analyze two alternate perspectives,

workers are being monitored by machines in a factory lending credence to his view of human
enslavement by technology. At the time of making the film, America was going through high
unemployment rates, and corporate downfall as a result of the great depression. Hence, the idea of

Many film critics have argued that these two films resemble each other even though they were

ruthless upper class. The ordinary man is seeking to live in a normal environment where there are no

human beings and do all the work. The machines even subdue the humans. In both films machines are

a capitalistic society do not control businesses. Furthermore, in both films the government is unable to

Maybe even doing something with blocks and learning how to do math. Working with children bring a

Elementary teachers teach the same students the entire year but they teach a variety of subjects. Such
as math, reading, writing, social studies, and even science. One good thing about being an elementary
teacher is you are able to make the children s schedule as you want and being to keep them interested

Anglo Saxon Hero Research Paper
The Anglo Saxon Hero Today, the world defines a hero as someone who is kind, smart, and includes
everyone. In the Anglo Saxon era, Beowulf, a character from the epic, Beowulf, embodies many of the
qualities that the Anglo Saxons considered when defining a hero. Beowulf fights in his first battle of
the epic against Grendel because he continually murdered sleeping men in Hrothgar s beautiful hall,
Herot. Once Grendel is defeated, his spiteful mother comes to seek revenge, so Beowulf battles and
kills her as well. In Beowulf s last battle, he fights an angry dragon. During the battle, Beowulf is

Beowulf continually shows his bravery through how he dares to battle the undefeatable. I ve never

if the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (42) Beowulf is so confident and brave that he is
wondering if the fire breathing dragon will have the courage to face him, a human. Showing qualities
of an Anglo Saxon hero, Beowulf enters his final battle with pure courage. Beowulf s bravery when
going into his first and last battles proves him to be heroic according to the qualities the Anglo Saxons

Essay about Advice to Choose the Best Cleaning Company
When it comes to cleaning the floors in your home, there are a plethora of companies to choose from.
Most of them use the same technology. Many of them do a good job, but there are some companies
that would rather take your money than make you a raving fan. Here are five ways to be sure you are
working with the right carpet cleaning company.
1. Don t Select a Company Based on Their Cheap Ad Prices.
Often, people are lead to believe that they are going to get a quality job at an incredible discount when
they call the company whose coupon they clipped out of the Sunday paper. These ads are nothing
more than a gimmick to get the company through the door. Once they get in there, they will use bait
and switch tactics and try to convince you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A competent carpet cleaner is going to take you on a walkthrough of your own home where they can
discuss problem areas with you. They will discuss areas where their services should be able to help,
where they may not work. The carpet cleaner should meet the expectation that they themselves set. If
they do not meet the expectation, they need to return and take care of those problem areas free of
charge.
If they still cannot fix the area to the expectations they set, they should, without question, refund your
money.
4. Do Your Homework
Anyone can tell you anything you want to hear to get into your home. You can either take their word
for it, or you can ask them for references, client testimonials or businesses that are referring their
business out to other clients. Call the Better Business Bureau to find out if their business is in good
standing with the community. You can also check with local chambers of commerce and other
business organizations.
You do not have to just take their word for it. There are plenty of other carpet cleaning companies to
choose from.
5. Always Remember: Safety First
The carpets are usually going to be cleaned during the day when the breadwinner is at work. The
home will either be empty or only one spouse will be at home. It is of upmost importance that you
know that the company you are inviting into your residence does background checks and screens their
employees. You want to be sure your family is safe

Criminal investigative analysis is a process of reviewing crimes from both a behavioral and
investigative perspective. It involves reviewing and assessing the facts of a criminal act, interpreting
offender behavior, and interaction with the victim, as exhibited during the commission of the crime, or
as displayed in the crime scene. BAU staff conduct detailed analyses of crimes for the purpose of
providing two or more of the following services: crime analysis, investigative suggestions, profiles of
unknown offenders, threat analysis, critical incident analysis, interview strategies, major case
management, search warrant assistance, prosecutive and trial strategies, and expert testimony.[7] In
addition to the above services, the BAU staff produced the Child Abduction Response Plan to assist
investigators faced with these investigations. Recently, the BAU released The School Shooter: A
Threat Assessment Perspective report to guide school administrators, teachers, parents, and law

The Revolving Door

¬¬¬¬¬The Effects of the Revolving Door
For five years, Mr. Larry Lavender served as the chief of staff for Representative Spencer Bachus on
the House Financial Services Committee. In 2012, Lavender was recruited by a law firm representing
JPMorgan, a banking and financial institution, and left the committee. Although this move disbanded
his professional link to Bachus, the two still maintained a personal relationship, and Lavender also
communicated with former colleagues without seeking any official favors or actions (Revolving
Door). Because of the relationship between Lavender and Bachus and through efforts made behind the
scenes, JPMorgan avoided testifying against one of their clients in the House of Representatives. This
sequence of events illustrates what is referred to as the revolving door , which is a system that shuffles
former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists . In this system, former
public office holders become lobbyists because they already have relationships with people they have
worked with or for in the past. Within the practice, there has been evidence of corruption through the
manipulation of bans and the undermining use of professional interactions. The spinning of the
revolving door prompts government officials to make laws that reflect the preferences of industry
lobbies rather than the will of the people As the revolving door continues to spin more

Uruguay Outside The Box Research Paper
Uruguay Outside the Box: A Guide to Its Unconventional Experiences If you ve read about Uruguay,

is part of its charm, visiting is less about museums and monuments, and more about its unconventional
experiences. Here are just a few of them. Montevideo Carnaval Uruguay has distinct separations
between Church and State. As such, its Carnaval has nothing to do with Mardi Gras, the day before

Uruguay eventually abolished slavery, but candombe prevailed and evolved into municipally
sanctioned Carnaval. If candombe is the soul of Carnaval, the Lubolos, Murgas and Pariodistas
comprise its voice. Lubolos are white men who paint their faces black, and sing songs about missing
the African homeland and the challenges of pleasing their masters. Unlike North American minstrel
shows, the Lubolos do not mock slavery. Instead, their acts represent an apology for the atrocities of
their ancestors. Murgas use musical theater to satirize government leaders. Pariodistas work the
crowds while performing impersonations of politicians and other prominent individuals. Inspired?

Why I Want To Be A Paramedic
For as long as I can remember, I have always admired the selflessness and bravery of Emergency
Medical Technicians and Paramedics. My admiration intensified when I was injured in a vehicle

why I want to become an EMT/Paramedic. For example, being in the emergency responder field
requires you to work in an unpredictable and fast paced environment and be able to be alert and ready
at any moment of the day. To some, this may seem daunting or intimidating, but to me, it is what
makes the job exciting. It means that every day on the job I will encounter different adventures and

Medical involvement included pharmacological intervention. An infusion of Sotalol 40mg was
administered intravenously at approx 0930 over thirty minutes with continuous cardiac monitoring.
Sotalol, an antiarrhythmic drug, depresses the sinus heart rate, decreases atrioventricular conduction,
decreases cardiac output and decreases systolic and diastolic blood pressure (Bryant, Knights, amp;
Salerno, 2003). As the patient was already hemodynamically compromised, a bolus of fluid
(Gelofusion 500mls) was administered prior to the Sotalol infusion. The aim was to increase the
circulating volume and raise blood pressure. Vital signs remained stable during the infusion, however
the heart rate was neither converted to sinus rhythm or reduced to a normal rate.
At 1130 a second antiarrhythmic drug, Amiodarone 150mg, was administered via intravenous
infusion. Its action is unknown however is thought to prolong the action potential duration (Siddoway,
2003). Similar to the Sotolol no effect was noted with the rate or rhythm. The patients blood pressure
remained low, 96/67 and heart rate fluctuating between 100 130 beats per minute. The patient was
asymptomatic with his blood pressure but remained sweaty and lethargic. He received further
intravenous fluids whilst the medical officer discussed his presentation with the cardiology team.

statues quo or equilibrium will change. ( Kaminski, 2011, Force Field Analysis). This theory helps
managers identify if a change is needed or not Unfreezing Phase The first step is to cause awareness or
an urgency. Hold a meeting and let employees/staff know that management is going to update
equipment and switch to electronic medical records. You can use a couple different ways to create this
urgency and dispel negativity. The first is benchmarking. According to Benson ,1995 Benchmarking is
a continuous process by which an organization can measure and compare its own processes with those
of organizations that are leaders in an area. You can use bench marking to explain how other doctor s
offices have started to use EMR and profits have doubled. Inform staff about the benefits of using
Electronic Medical Records. For example, EMR S will create space savings and will produce less
waste, it will improve diagnosis and treatment, it will also help to reduce errors. And finally, it will
help to increase productivity. Next open the floor to questions and ask employees/staff if they have
any concerns. Management should dispel any restraining forces. Address any concerns staff may have
and be sure the staff feels like their voices were heard. But don t spend too much time on addressing
concerns because this will be seen as weakness. It is important to keep the lines of communication
open and honest, which creates a sense of

fundamental to economic development and welfare of society. To reach levels similar to those of

addition, there is still a large number of people (more than a billion, according to estimates from the

global society need more resources to provide this growing demand for sustainable hydrogen energy

Schools in Texas suffer a large amount of dropouts, some believe the students are to blame and other
believe it is the teacher s/school. However, schools are not the reason for students failing out because
teachers would much rather support and help their students rather than fail them. There are multiple
reasons why students are failing due to where they stand in society, how they are socialized
throughout their lives, and the social forces that influence their decisions as students.
According to the Social Forces note sheet, social forces are the most influential aspect of society and

The socialization review guide states that self concept is based on our idea of others judgement and is
a big part of who we are. Teacher want to see their students graduate rather than failing. Being a senior
in high school, teachers are very supportive and are always open to helping their students because
teachers want to see their students be successful. However, that can negatively affect a student s self
concept. Although the teacher is helping the student, the extra attention given in class could result in
peer judgement which impacts the student s self concept. Peers jump to conclusions thinking that
student is stupid because they are asking for helping or staying after class. Which can be beneficial but
shortly after the student begins to believe that they are stupid and peers lower the student s self
esteem, and it starts to affect their school work negatively. Maybe being that the students stops asking

The Benefits Of Prostitution
According to Bishakha Datta, 71% of prostitutes said they had entered the sex work willingly. I
believe that prostitution should be legalized for many reasons I will explain below. After looking at
trusting articles, I found that legalizing prostitution would improve medical and health issues, make
prostitution a safer environment, and create less violence and make it more police friendly. Doctors
have pushed the government to regulate and legalize prostitution. If the government would legalize
prostitution, prostitutes would have to take medical exams (Hayes Smith and Shekarkhar, 45).
Prostitutes will have to undergo many things during a health and medical exam and this will not only
effect the now, but also their future as a prostitute. Under legalization, the state will require prostitutes
to be licensed and subject to routine medical screenings for diseases. Any prostitutes found to be ill
will be unable to return to work until the problem is treated and, if it untreatable, her license will be
revoked (Hayes Smith and Shekarkhar, 50). The main purpose of legalizing prostitution is to make it
safer for the women and clients in this profession. One disease that has effected many prostitutes is
HIV. Research has been done and they found that prostitutes who work in indoor prostitution,
compared to street prostitution were not as likely to be exposed to HIV (Hayes Smith and Shekarkhar,
49). Indoor prostitution researchers have even found that sexually transmitted

Case Study On Stroke
1.1. Stroke:
Stroke is a common, serious and global health care problem; it s the third most common cause of
health and first cause of adult disability (12). The rehabilitation is the major part of his care (13).
Stroke is a neurological deficit caused by an acute focal injury f the central nervous system (CNS) by
a vascular cause: a cerebral infraction appears with overt symptoms or intracerebral hemorrhage with
no symptoms (10%) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (5%) (14).
The most impairment that can be regarded as a loss or limitation of function in movement or limitation
in mobility and muscle contraction, is the most common and widely recognized impairment caused by
stroke. The movement of face, arm, and leg of one side of the body are the structures affected by the
motor impairment after stroke and affected 80% of patients. Motor impairment can be caused by

On the fateful September day nine years ago, Bush s first inkling of the unfolding tragedy came as he

my mind raced far from the classroom. Who could have done this? How bad was the damage? What

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Lee, Johnson, amp; Joyce (2008), Capital budgets assist in deciding how much of each type of investment is necessary, and assist in evaluating available revenues (including loans) to finance those investments. States and most local governments do not use current revenues to pay for their capital projects. For example, the construction of prisons, school building, or public university. These projects are usually financed from bond revenues. The purchasers of the bond lend the funds to the states that are necessary to finance the project. States, in turn, pledge to pay the bondholders the principal of the loan plus a stipulated rate of return according to Gosling (2002). According to Lee, Johnson, amp; Joyce (2008), In the United States, although some local governments borrow from banks for temporary operating funds, the main source of debt finance is the issuance of bonds. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Blue-Sky Research By blue sky research, Sir John Vane means researching and spending time partaking in activities that a person is genuinely interested in, not wasting time on activities with a goal of reaching an end product or result. Rather than using research as a means of self indulgence, Sir John Vane uses the notion of blue sky research to instead participate in what one is interested in. Advantages to blue sky research include the development of Bayer aspirin and its effects on society today. Through genuine interest, Felix Hoffman was able to stumble upon the creation of aspirin, something beneficial to millions today. Ian Frazier connects blue sky research to playing in the woods with an explanation of marginal activities. Marginal activities are activities that certain members of society, depending on their place or age, participate in with genuine interest and enjoyment. For example, an adult would not be seen playing in the woods, as opposed to a child. Inversely, a child would not be seen studying about the stock exchange. With these supposed cultural constructs, Ian Frazier reminisces about when he would play in the woods with genuine interest and satisfaction. Ian Frazier s marginal activity connects to Sir John Vane s blue sky research through the fact that both include genuine, satisfying activities that enrich the community. As explained in Sir John Vane s essay, Blue Sky Research, such research [holds] great promise for the community, helping reverse today s urgency to show a return, (346). Because of Frazier s enjoyment, playing in the woods was not a rushed activity, connecting to blue sky research and helping push Sir John Vane s philosophy. I agree that without such research, society would indeed be poorer, as would be our health. Blue sky research is needed for the betterment of society today. Without a genuine interest or satisfaction in an activity, one would not have a place or fit in society. Going to work somewhere dreadful may be possible through the eyes of some, but those same people still go somewhere after work fueled with enjoyment and genuine interest, ready to be partake in a hobby and start the highlight of the day. The specific activity, however, is usually up to the person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rajasekaran Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India ABSTRACT: One atom thick sheet of carbon discovered this century is flaunted not just for its electrical properties but also for its physical strength and flexibility. The bonds between carbon atoms are well known as the strongest in nature, so a perfect sheet of graphene should withstand just about anything, but to use it in real time applications, we have to understand the useful strength of graphene. So for, researchers have looked extensively at graphene s electronic properties and tensile strength, nobody, had taken comprehensive measurements of its ability to withstand a compressive load. We find that, counter to standard reasoning, graphene sheets with Stone Thrower Wales (STW) defects are able to bear high compressive stress as compared to pristine graphene. We show that this trend can be understood by considering the critical bonds in the seven and five membered carbon rings which bears the maximum compressive stress. Graphene with STW defects is stronger in compressive strength point of view because they are able to better accommodate these strained rings. Our results provide guidelines for designing graphene with STW defects to obtain maximum compressive strength, so that we can get the benefit of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They always spoke about how much Mrs. Banks enjoyed the outdoors and how they wished she could go outside if only for a little while. This is when I found the perfect time to perform my act of kindness. I work every Saturday and Sunday, when management is not in the facility, so it made it easy to do this with Mrs. Banks. With help from a few of my fellow nurses we bathed Mrs. Banks, bought her a new sundress, and carefully lifted her into a recliner chair with wheels that allowed her to be easily manuvured. • 15. Magical Realism In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Does The Metamorphosis belong under the magical realism genre? The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a short story describing the transformation of a lonely traveling salesman, Gregor, to a gigantic insect. Besides describing Gregor s physical metamorphosis, the story also depicts Gregor s mental metamorphosis from a human to an insect. In addition to Gregor s personal metamorphosis, Kafka illustrates Gregor s family s transformation from tolerating Gregor to treating him with hatred, disrespect, and disgust. In Bruce Holland Rogers s article What Is Magical Realism, Really? , he defined magical realism as having repetitions in time and combining magical and ordinary elements. Throughout Kafka s description of these events, it is clear that The Metamorphosis should be categorized under magical realism because it combines magical and realistic elements and uses repetition of time and distortion of identity, similar to many other magical realism works such as Axolotl by Julio CortΓ‘zar and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Magical realism stories combine realistic and magical details to illustrate a real world with imaginary elements. For example, in A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , the old angel has huge buzzard wings, dirty and half plucked, forever entangled in the mud ( A Very Old 1). The wings are clearly magical elements, but they are forever entangled in the mud , a realistic element. This entanglement between magical and realistic elements is a common literary device found in magical realism. Therefore, Kafka s combination of magical elements, such as Gregor s insect body, and realistic elements like Gregor s family and bedroom, supports the classification of The Metamorphosis under the genre of magical realism. When Gregor woke up from unpleasant dreams in the beginning of the story, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect (89). This is clearly a magical element, as it is obviously impossible for a human to turn into an insect in one night (or any amount of time). Although Gregor goes through very dramatic changes, his regular human bedroom remains the same. Aside from having an insect body, Gregor s surroundings, such as his ... Meanwhile, an old woman is laying on her death bed waiting for the same researchers to find a cure but dies before researchers can succeed. Which scenario do you think is worse? This is a difficult question and may not have an answer. Animal testing has been around for centuries starting with early Greek physicians around 384 BC. These Greek physicians included Aristotle, Erasistratus, and Galen, who all created huge contributions to medical history. Throughout history animal testing has helped to cure many diseases including polio, diabetes, smallpox, and many more. These cures have helped save thousands of lives and would not have been possible without the help of animals. However, these contributions did not occur without the cost of hurting animals in the process. There have been some laws, like the federal food, drug, and cosmetic act, that requires safety testing of drugs on animals before they can be sold. Both animal lives and human lives are affected by animal testing in many ways, making this topic very important. 100 million animals die each year due to animal testing but there are also many diseases that haven t been cured, making animal testing necessary. Animal testing has both saved lives and taken them away. Us humans have to decide how many animal lives are worth the knowledge gained. The Revolving Door Amanda Stevenson Dr. Woodiwiss PO 101 11 December 2015 ¬¬¬¬¬The Effects of the Revolving Door For five years, Mr. Larry Lavender served as the chief of staff for Representative Spencer Bachus on the House Financial Services Committee. In 2012, Lavender was recruited by a law firm representing JPMorgan, a banking and financial institution, and left the committee. Although this move disbanded his professional link to Bachus, the two still maintained a personal relationship, and Lavender also communicated with former colleagues without seeking any official favors or actions (Revolving Door). Because of the relationship between Lavender and Bachus and through efforts made behind the scenes, JPMorgan avoided testifying against one of their clients in the House of Representatives. This sequence of events illustrates what is referred to as the revolving door , which is a system that shuffles former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists . I believe that prostitution should be legalized for many reasons I will explain below. After looking at trusting articles, I found that legalizing prostitution would improve medical and health issues, make prostitution a safer environment, and create less violence and make it more police friendly. Doctors have pushed the government to regulate and legalize prostitution. If the government would legalize prostitution, prostitutes would have to take medical exams (Hayes Smith and Shekarkhar, 45). Prostitutes will have to undergo many things during a health and medical exam and this will not only effect the now, but also their future as a prostitute. Under legalization, the state will require prostitutes to be licensed and subject to routine medical screenings for diseases. Any prostitutes found to be ill will be unable to return to work until the problem is treated and, if it untreatable, her license will be revoked (Hayes Smith and Shekarkhar, 50). The main purpose of legalizing prostitution is to make it safer for the women and clients in this profession. One disease that has effected many prostitutes is HIV. • 36. Case Study On Stroke 1.1. Stroke: Stroke is a common, serious and global health care problem; it s the third most common cause of health and first cause of adult disability (12). The rehabilitation is the major part of his care (13). Stroke is a neurological deficit caused by an acute focal injury f the central nervous system (CNS) by a vascular cause: a cerebral infraction appears with overt symptoms or intracerebral hemorrhage with no symptoms (10%) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (5%) (14). The most impairment that can be regarded as a loss or limitation of function in movement or limitation in mobility and muscle contraction, is the most common and widely recognized impairment caused by stroke. The movement of face, arm, and leg of one side of the body are the structures affected by the motor impairment after stroke and affected 80% of patients. Motor impairment can be caused by ischemic or hemorrhagic injury to the motor cortex, premotor cortex, motor tracts, or associated pathways in the cerebrum or cerebellum (15). One of the common undesirable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to motor training, the kinesthetic, extero ceptive, visual and attention information can be modulated; it s useful for arm function rehabilitation when it increases. The healthy hemisphere does not play a univocal role after a stroke. The spontaneous upper extremity neurological recovery after a stroke can occur through contralesional motor cortex recruitment. This bi hemispheric reorganization allows the healthy hemisphere to efficiently contribute to a uni manual motor task by the paretic arm. The motor facilitation observed in the bilateral mode could be explained by the fact that the healthy hemisphere removes its inhibition upon the lesion hemisphere. Furthermore, the corticospinal fibers stemming from the healthy hemisphere, no decussated and aimed for proximal motricity, could be recruited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Pros And Cons Of European Exploration In my opinion, the benefits of European exploration did not outweigh the consequences. To support my opinion, this essay will include three topics that each show both pros and cons. Those topics include the Columbian Exchange, Smallpox, and Columbus s voyages. First, the Columbian Exchange took place between the old and new world. The old world gave the new world things such as horses, pigs, and cows. They also gave the new world wheat, sugar, rice, and coffee. Also, the Columbian Exchange resulted in cultural division. Lastly, the Columbian Exchange caused many Native Americans to die from European diseases. Another reason that I think that the pros don t outweigh the cons is that Smallpox had killed many people. • 38. Benjamin Bush Informative Speech On the fateful September day nine years ago, Bush s first inkling of the unfolding tragedy came as he walked into a classroom in Florida to read to a group of young children. On the short walk from the motorcade to the classroom, Karl Rove mentioned that an airplane had crashed into the World Trade Centre. That sounded strange. I envisioned a little propeller plane horribly lost, writes Bush. But then his national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, called to tell him that what he thinks is a small plane is actually a commercial airliner. I was stunned. That plane must have had the worst pilot in the world. How could he possibly have flown into a skyscraper on a clear day? Maybe he had a heart attack, writes Bush. The president may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The president looks as though he has been paralysed by shock. For seven minutes he sits there before a group of children, immobile while America was under attack. But Bush says he was thinking. I looked at the faces of the children in front of me. I thought about the contrast between the brutality of the attacks and the innocence of those children. Millions like them would soon be counting on me to protect them. I was determined not to let them down, Bush writes. The reading lesson continued, but my mind raced far from the classroom. Who could have done this? How bad was the damage? What did the government need to do? Bush finally leaves the class and is ushered into another room to watch TV coverage of the attacks. The president s first impulse is to get on television himself. I watched in horror as the footage of the second plane hitting the south tower replayed in slow motion. The huge fireball and explosion of smoke were worse than I had imagined. The country would be shaken, and I needed to get on TV right away, he says. He drafted a few words longhand and duly appeared to begin: Ladies and gentlemen, this is a difficult moment for America ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He grew up with stomach problems and anemia, which kept him sick and away from multiple activities during his early childhood. Before Cousteau s mass of great career accomplishments, he began his fascination with water at the age of four years old, when he first learned how to swim. According to SeaSky.org, in 1930 Cousteau had joined the French s navy and graduated as a gunnery officer. Shortly after his graduation, Cousteau had joined the navy s information service, where he swiftly became vastly interested in the photography business. With Jacques being a part of the navy, he would continue to travel around the world to numerous places. Cousteau s traveling around the world had allowed him to shoot film in some of the greatest and glamorous places around the Indian and Pacific oceans.
