The Organizational Management Report ( Omr ) Or Omr...
Introduction
The purpose of this assignment is to help me make a decision in my workplace on whether we
should provide the Organizational Management Report (OMR) or OMR summary or both
version reports to each organization who eligible to receive a report. There are two factors that
we need to consider before we make the decision. The first factor is time. How long will it take
us to populate five hundred and twenty full versions OMR and OMR summary? Our office has
promised to provide the report by the second week of October. The second factor is the ability to
understand the report. The majority of the managers and leaders find an OMR is a little
overwhelming since the OMR has a total of forty pages. The majority of the manager and leaders
do not have much time to spend on the report. On the other hand, there are organizations that want
to have an OMR which allow them to manipulate the data and create their own survey report.

this is an employee survey report, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has set a policy of a

Increase in current liabilities Substantial increase in current liabilities weakened the company s
liquidity position. Its current liabilities were US$2,063.94 million at the end of FY2010, a
48.09% increase compared to the previous year. However, its current assets recorded a marginal
increase of 25.07% from US$1,770.02 million at the end of FY2009 to US$2,213.72 million at
the end of FY2010. Following this, the company s current ratio declined from 1.27 at the end of
the FY2009 to 1.07 at the end of FY2010. A lower current ratio indicates that the company is in a
weak financial position, and it may find it difficult to meet its day to day obligations.
Opportunities:
Global demand for coatings market The growing market for global coatings will certainly benefit
the company. Market analysts expect the global coatings market to reach US$98.69 billion by
2015. This expected increase is primarily due to economic activity, rapid industrialization, and
increasing demand from automotive and construction sectors in developing countries. The Asian
market is also forecast to increase at a compounded annual growth rate of 4.2% through 2015. Being
a manufacturer of paints and coatings, the company can tap this growing market.

Being A Man In The Wonderer And Beowulf

To Be or Not To Be .. a Man
Being a man during the medieval period meant a lot more than being a man in the twenty first
century. There were certain expectations, and above all, different aspects when it came down to
what being a man was. Some things that are very evident are kinship, brotherhood, male to male
relationships, and bonding. While reading The Wonderer and Beowulf, it is very easy to pick out
spots where these different aspects are shown. So, how exactly do we know how these acts are
being portrayed?
While reading Beowulf, right off the back the reader can get a sense of what being a man means.
There is a bond of unity from the very beginning. Brotherhood and kinship go hand in hand
because even though Beowulf did not need any help from the men who traveled with him, they all
stood by him and were there for moral support. The relationships between men seemed like they
were a lot more important, than those with women. Not only are women rarely mentioned during
this time, but when they were, they were often portrayed as damsels in distress. This is where
kinship and brotherhood go hand in hand. Just because these men were not of the same bloodline,
that did not make them any less of a family. There was always constant support, especially for
Beowulf, and no one ever really went against each other.
The bonding between men can be seen in two different ways in Beowulf. One way it can be seen
is the fact

The Sarbane-Oxley Act (SOA) Essay
INTRODUCTION
The Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act was signed into law by
President Bush on July 30, 2002. The law is now known as The Sarbane Oxley Act (SOA). The
SOA has eleven titles within the act and numerous sections, pertaining to ethics, accounting,
financial reporting, responsibilities of officers, whistleblower protection, and increased criminal
penalties built upon prior securities laws. SOA is the most comprehensive securities legislation
written since the 1940s. In the early part of the twentieth century companies did not have the
sophistication and abilities of the modern company in regard to information technology, number of
accountants, advisors and analysts. This legislation is a big step ... Show more content on

Sections 302, 304, 306, 402, 403 and 406 are designed to improve the ?Tone at the Top? of
companies. The sections are primarily geared towards the CFOs, CEOs and other company
officers. An example is under section 302; the CEO and CFO need to personally certify
financial documents pertaining to annual and quarterly reports. Section 304 forces management
to return bonuses earned if the financial documents were inaccurate as a result of misconduct.
Section 306 states company officers cannot trade during pension fund blackout periods. Section
402 prohibits insider loans. Section 403 mandates electronic filing of insider transactions. In
other words, if the CFO decides he should sell his stock, the immediacy of the sale would have to
be reported or filed with the SEC. Section 406 forces a company to have a written code of ethics
for the CEO, CFO and the staff. www.sec.gov/news/press/2003 89a.htm. Further scrutiny of the
legislation also reveals that section 1106 allows increased criminal penalties under the Securities
Exchange Act of 1934, this changes the maximum of 10 years to 20 years imprisonment and the
$1,000,000.00 fine to a $5,000,000.00 fine. The tone of leadership is important for the wellness of
an organization. As stated, ?Tone at the Top? is a start, the leaders must be ethical and act

having to visit the front desk. This capability was first demonstrated by Clarion Hotel Stockholm
whose goal was to solicit feedback from guests and employees regarding the use of NFC phones for
a variety of services [38].
In the Clarion pilot, selected hotel guests received a Samsung mobile phone with NFC
technology and digital keys software from ASSA ABLOY They booked their hotel rooms the
usual way and received confirmation on their mobile phones. Before arrival, they were texted a
link for on line check in, after which a digital hotel room key was delivered to their phones. Upon
arrival, guests skipped the check in line, went directly to their rooms, and opened their doors by
holding their mobile phones close to the door locks. Upon departure, the doors locked
automatically, and guests checked out by touching their phones to a lobby kiosk, which completed
checkout and deactivated their room keys [38].

Telephone To Heaven
No Telephone to Heaven by Michelle Cliff was published in 1987. This novel is primarily set in
Jamaica and the United States from the sixties to the eighties. Michelle Cliff engages with the
history of colonialism, slavery, and racism as well as resistance to these institutions throughout the
novel. The author also explores the theme of violence due to colonialismin her novel. Michelle Cliff
depicts a theme of violence that existed in Jamaica through three of her main characters Clare,
Christopher, and Harry. In Cliff s narrative, both her characters and the events that take place are
buried with the forgotten history of the Caribbean in order to understand the violence that persists
in Jamaica.

In the eighteenth century, it was known as the Land Of Look Behind, in reference to the caution
required of English soldiers who traversed the area to root out the Maroons (Foyd 12; 41). As long
as there was slavery there was also resistance, in the form of revolts and escapes. In places where
the natural habitat provided spaces to hide out long term, escaped slaves created communities of
their own and were often known as Maroons (Brown). Cliff alludes the Maroon tradition of
resistance in several occasions throughout the novel. However, Cliff also depicts a historical
accuracy about the Maroons. In Chapter 4, Cliff writes, Others people of the bloodlines of the
Maroons came to their small houses and gathered around (Cliff 106). By Michelle Cliff writing
about their small houses she wanted to portray them as self sufficient and people who practiced
sustainable agricultural practices (Brooks and Clark). However, according to Mohan, the repeated
references to Nanny, the maroon insurgent, whom Cudjoe betrayed, seeks to change the trifling
representation of female against colonial and patriarchal violence in colonial and nationalist

Essay on How Social Tensions Led To Wit
The history of witchcraft during seventeenth century New England is inherently a history of direct
confrontations within communities where relationships become tainted with suspicion, revenge
and anger. The documents in Witch Hunting in Seventeenth Century New England have retold the
events and stories of Puritan New England to give the modern reader an understanding of the
repressive social institutions of religion and family structurewhich were controlling factors that lay
behind the particular cases discussed in the book. However, in order to really interpret the structure
of witchcraft, it is important to consider that social tensions(most likely a dispute or argument)
combined with personal or familial bad luck, were the root of... Show more content on

A situation that demonstrates this is the case of Blanche Bedortha and her painful fits. Blanche
blamed her ailments on Hugh based on an argument between him and Rice Bedortha, her husband.
When having her fits, Blanche distinctly recalled the dispute and at once suspected that Hugh had
used witchcraft on her (Hall 36). This demonstrates that Hugh was considered troublesome, and to
accuse him of witchcraft would be the perfect punishment or reprisal.
Actions of a person can also cause social tension among the town. The way a person behaves,
acts, and responds can differentiate from the ordinary to the weird. In Puritan society, anything out
of the normal is very suspicious, especially when someone does not react to a situation they way
society would. Many people were accused of witchcraft because they behaved abnormally to a
death of a family member or a neighbor. When Moxon s child died, Hugh did not have any emotions
or sympathy. This attitude combined with the past argument that they had, Moxon immediately
accused Hugh of witchcraft. Again, this case happened again when his wife Mary accused him of
witchcraft. This was due to the fact that Hugh once more had no emotions when his kids died.
When accusations were released, the accused would in no way regain their social standing ever
again, even if they were found innocent after a trial. Magnified suspicions and distrust increased the
social tension between the accused

Myth Of Truth Analysis
Truth has always been a very vague and grey area for many people, it s something that cannot be
agreed on by every single person. Each person has their own set of past experiences that have built
upon their morals, values and ethics. This ties in with their overall idea of why they view truth and
lies in the way that do. Professor Hedrick is interesting in the way that she teaches literature through
the historical point of view, proving background information that enables students to build upon this
background knowledge and find the interpretation for that piece of literature. Much like our
differing viewpoints on the concepts behind truthand lies can be connected to differing
interpretations over a certain work of literature. But when truth... Show more content on

introduced and throughout the interview Professor Hedrick stuck to her stance of truth depending
on the person in question. Our journey through life has heavily influenced the ever changing stance
over truth. Knapp, et all, Lying, 57 Throughout the interview she spoke about her seeing changes in
the students, in their ideas, how they evolve in just a semester. Ethics to her is like a scale, it needs
to be constantly adjusted, adapted and balanced. Much like her students writing styles, she sees
their speech, their viewpoints over the world change drastically in just a semester, some students
regress and others thrive. Their interpretations open up and they come up to her with what they
thought but she is no stranger to the lies students tell. In her long career, she has had many
outlandish lies told to her, what students will do to get out of trouble or an extension on an exam
or extra credit. The idea of lying to an authority figure that could end in severe consequences is a lie
that many students would not think of before but when they enter the college scene, they change;
some students would do anything to get a little extra credit. It s part of her job to be vigilant for
the possible lies students may tell in an attempt to take advantage of her. This

Comparison Of The Assad And The Syrian Uprising
It is important to note that these two case studies share a number of similarities that are worth
pointing about before emphasizing their distinctiveness. Firstly, both the uprisings in Tunisia as
well as the Syrian conflict both belong to the arena of collective political action, that is rather than
individual acts of political dissent. Secondly, they are employed by organized opposition
movements representing an oppressed minority of the disempowered majority, engaged against the
unjust action of the state and institutionalized violence they exert. Thirdly, each operate outside the
bound of conventional political channels such that they are non institutional. Arguably, the most
important similar factor is that the both belong to the larger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This movement can arguably be seen as the largest challenge to the Assad regime in more than 40
years of their rule. During this period , the regime steadily increased their brutality of backfire,
killing more civilians. What began as peaceful protests turned into demonstrations of tens of
thousands of people across the country by the end of July of 2011. Solidarity among different sects
was evident with people from diverse ethnic, social, and religious backgrounds participating. One of
the activists remarked, no one was thinking of religion, ethnicity, or status. It was all about
demanding freedom and supporting each other. The nonviolent protest movement won government
concessions with the dismissal of the governor of Daraa, the release of hundreds of politics
dissidents, the grant of citizenship rights to the Kurds, and the removal of the 48 year old
emergency law. This however, all changed with the advent of the Free Syrian Army and the shift to

Magazine Advertising And Gender Stereotypes
My thought process when collecting my magazine ads was that I wanted to showcase the
various age groups of each gender. Many magazines have a specific audience in mind meaning
that magazines aimed towards a young teen would not be as explicit as a magazine aimed
towards a grown woman even though they might both contain the same message. I collected
samples from three prominent magazines for females: J 14 (age range 8 14), Seventeen (age range
10 21), and Cosmopolitan (age range 18 34). I also repeated the process and collected samples from
magazines aimed at males: Sports Illustrated for Kids (age range 8 15) and ESPN (age range 15+).
I collected four ads per female magazineand three ads per male magazine for a total of twenty ads.
Each magazine that I used was from 2016 in order to ensure that the ads were relevant because of
how genderroles have changed over time. The limitations for my sample include the fact that not all
magazines aimed towards females are strictly about beauty and fashion. There are many other types
of magazines that appeal to women such as cooking, health, and dГ©cor.... Show more content on

Analytics In Basketball
There is a field in the sport of basketball that is growing at a rapid pace. That field is called
analytics. Nearly every team in the NBA now has an analytics department. However, it is important
to fully understand analytics before applying that knowledge to the sport of basketball. Analytics is
the discovery and communication of meaningful patterns in data (Stolbunov 1). Analytics being
used in sports is simply called sports analytics. Even though analytics has its flaws, it has had a
major impact on team building in basketball using statisticslike player efficiency ratingand effective
field goal percentage. There are many important statistics used in analytics, but a couple are used to
very great effect. One of the most important statistics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In baseball, the book Moneyball revolutionized the way that the whole sport looked at analytics.
Basketball has a comparable situation. The book Basketball on Paper dives into the numbers
behind the sport (Haefner 10). In this book, author Dean Oliver states there are four main
statistics to tell which team will win, and also states of how much importance these statistics
are. He says that a team s shooting is forty percent of winning, turnovers are twenty five percent,
rebounding is twenty percent, and and free throws are fifteen percent (Haefner 11). One of the
fathers of analytics in basketball claims that shooting is far and away the most important
statistic in the game. However, in order to know how a team is performing in this category, the
team must be compared against other teams. Doing this is extremely easy. If comparing two
teams playing each other, the opposing team s effective field goal percentage is simply
subtracted from the team being observed (Haefner 15). A golden example of the utility of
effective field goal percentage is the Golden State Warriors. This team has broken records for
three pointers made, and recently won seventy three games in a single season. The Warriors
have an advantage on almost every other team in the NBA because of the vast amount of three
pointers that they take (Dizikes 2). The ease with which effective field goal percentage can be
used and its direct correlation to which team wins the game makes it possibly the most useful
statistic in the game of basketball. However, while shooting does have a direct correlation for
team performance, it does not always have a major impact on how a single player

Pros And Cons Of Australia s Adversarial System
In the 21st Century many things have been called into question. Among those things is the
adversarial system that Australia s Rule of Law system follows. The argument stands that the
adversarial system is too aggressive in its approach to the legal system. Would Australia benefit
more from the adversarial system changing into the inquisitorial systemor would it be more
beneficial to create a hybrid of the two. This essay will aim to discuss the advantages and

Moving from system to another in such a drastic way would not benefit society, but as it is

inquisitorial system slow but needed integration in Australia law is the Victorian Coroner s Court.
These integrations show a great start in approving our existing law practices. The inquisitorial

Alice Walker Setting
The use of a literary technique such as setting can play a significant role in developing the main
conflict within a storyline. Purposefully, writers will incorporate setting in order to establish the
main conflict or plot within the text. In addition, the use of setting can further extend the reader s
knowledge and understanding of the message pertaining to the situation that the author is
conveying. Consequently, the setting can be a critical element that helps the readers understand the
main conflict presented by the author in a story. Further, the setting has a tremendous influence on
what happens in the story since it plays a role into the reason as to why the conflict occurs. The

In The Flowers, the major conflict of the loss of innocence due to the sight of the dead man is
depicted through the use of setting. As mentioned previously, the mood of the short story
towards the conflict is a dark mood. Further, it could be inferred that the historical era was
between the 1870 s to the 1950 s. This can develop the conflict because it creates a reason as to
why or how the conflict came to be. In other words, the setting is the cause to the effect which is
the conflict. The conflict of The Flowers, was mentioned earlier to be the loss of innocence due
to the sight of the dead man. This can be presented within the text in paragraph 8 when the writer
states, Myop laid down her flowers. From this quote, it can symbolize Myop s growth to
youthfulness due to her sincere and mature actions. However, the sight of the dead man and the
rope hanging on the tree can show Myop s loss of innocence since she had experienced an
unpleasant situation where she must grow mentally in order to conquer her emotions. The
historical era inferred to be around the 1870 s to the 1950 s can give a reason as to how the
conflict started which was the lynching of the man. The idea of lynching, which can be inferred
from the description of the noose hanging from the tree, had occurred in the United States from the
1880 s to the

Sham acupuncture is needles being inserted at non acupuncture sites to make the patient think they
are getting true acupuncture (Scharf et al., 2006). The study included 1007 participants who were at
least 40 years old, had symptoms for the past 6 months of chronic knee pain, and given confirmation
of osteoarthritis of the knee. The participants were randomly selected to one of the three groups:
conservative therapy, traditional Chinese acupuncture, or sham acupuncture. Each group received
six physiotherapy visits as well as their specific interventioin treatment (Scharf et al., 2006). The
conservative treatment group contained 316 participants who received ten consultation visits to the
practioners and given diclofenac or rofecoxibe as needed (Scharf et al., 2006). Throughout six
weeks the TCA and sham acupuncture group received ten acupunture treatments both using the
identical type of acupuncture needles. Diclofenac was also given to the particpants of the TCA and
sham acupuncture group if their pain was not at a level of comfort. There were 326 particpants in
the TCA group and 365 in the sham acupuncture group (Scharf et al., 2006). At the 13th and 26th

Essay On The Movie Goodfellas
For a second I thought I was dead, but when I heard all the noise I knew they were cops. Only
cops talked that way. If they had been wiseguys, I wouldn t have heard a thing. I would have
been dead ( Goodfellas 00:50:47 59). This is something that Henry Hill said when he is caught
by the police. Before this happened, Henry is trying to get some drugs on an airplane. There
were many events that lead up to Henry being detained by the police; he tried selling guns to
someone, he made dinner for his friends and family, and then he made a visit to his mistress.
While Henry is driving to each place, he is troubled by a helicopter that was following him.
Goodfellasis a film that was released in 1990, and the movie was directed by Martin Scorsese.
The movie is a popular one by all of the awards that it achieved. It is also based on a true story. The
visual elements that are used in this movie affect how the viewers see it. Throughout the movie, the
director uses music, camera angles, and lighting to contribute to the overall effect of the movie.
To start, the movie is centered around the character Henry Hill. Henry Hill is a gangster, and he
wanted to be one ever since he was a kid. He got a job working with the local gangsters as soon
as possible. He kept this away from his parents because he knew that they would not like it. Henry
eventually met with the people he would work with, and they were Tommy DeVito and Jimmy
Conway. The film progresses by showing all of the events that

The Spinal Cord and Spinal Cord Injury
INTRODUCTION The spinal cord is a major channel in the body where motor and sensory
information travels from the brain to the body. It has white matter that surrounds a central gray
matter. The gray matter is where most of the neuronal cells are located. Injury to the spinal cord
will affect the conduction of information across any part of the spinal cordwhere the damage is
located (Maynard et al., 1997). This will often result in permanent disability of a certain muscle or
region of the body (Meletis et al., 2008) and a loss of tissue where the damage is located (Peng et
al., 2009). As of now, there is no treatment for spinal cord injury expect for steroids. All steroids

It is thought that during damage to the spinal cord, high levels of ATP are released that can activate
the P2X7 receptor. In pure cultures, P2X7 receptor antagonist are thought to provide protect against
the effects of P2X7. This is due to blocking the receptors instead of trying to stop the inflammatory
effects. Because the antagonists can selectivly mediate the activation of P2X7, it is the perfect
candidate for the therapeutic treatment of spinal cord injurys (Domercq et al., 2009).
Stem Cell Research Stem cells are located in the spinal cord and they are hard to identify
(Konstantinos et al., 2008). Human embryonic stem cells have advantages that other cell types do
not contain. They have a large capacity for differentiation and for expansion. They also help in
remyelination. However, studies have shown that human embryonic stem cell derived
oligodendrocyte progenitor cells can help in neuroprotection, homeostatic maintenance, suppressing
inflammation, and promoting the regeneration of axons. (Sharp et al., 2010). Most of the neural
stem cell potential is in ependymal cells (Meletis et al., 2008). Transplanting these oligodendrocyte
progenitor cells just one week after the injury showed widespread oligodendrocyte remyelination
throughout the white matter (Keirstead et al., 2005). Most spinal cord injuries in humans

Who Is John Stuart Mill
Freedom of actions within society, and the rights of the individual vs the rights of the collective, are
argued by many enlightened thinkers. In comparing thoughts of John Stuart Mill when he discusses
the rights of the collective vs the individual and his idea of the harm principle one can come to
understand that government is not able to control peoples actions unless they are causing harm to
other individuals. Throughout the paper, I wish to draw on Mill s other works including
Considerations on Representative Government by Mill, and On Libertyby Mill as well as secondary
external sources regarding the rights of citizens, and the universality of rights. I will draw on

however, one argument against his theory of the harm principle is that every individual has
different levels of morality and freedoms.
John Stuart Mill s idea of the harm principle argues that the government may only justifiably
interfere in individual actions to prevent harm, or the threat of harm, to others, or to the greater
community. Mill s argument is designed to protect the greater collective society from what he
states are individual actions that could prove to be detrimental for the state, including the use of
addictive drugs and suicide. Mill states that this is the only time that the government should
interview with the actions of the individual within society because of it, for Mills, is an example
that would bring a concern to others, and harm. Similar to Mills is Frances Declaration of

The Creation Of Islam Throughout Ad 662
The creation of Islam in AD 662 spread very widely within a century and brought on a whole
cultural phenomenon . Muslims contribute to knowledge through the creation and addition of
Arabic numerals, positional notation, algebra, calculations in astronomy, medical analyses, and
new poetry techniques. Islamcontributions to design are distinctive, richly colorful, and highly
imaginative. (Newton 30) The militant Arabs took over Syria, and then took over Egypt in AD 640.
Sixty years later they spread to the south Mediterranean coast, reaching the Atlantic. Through
similar interests of conquest, the Arabs were drawn into Spain. The Muslims traveled across the
Strait of Gibraltar in AD 711. Despite resistance from southern regions, they conquered
successfully. (Jellicoe 40) By AD 712, Muslims occupied Seville and Cordoba. The Muslim part of
Spain stands independently and survives for eight centuries. (Newton 31) Muslims arrive in Spain
and influence regions knowledgably, architecturally and through use of the land. Despite the later
Spanish Christian revival, areas in the South of the peninsula, Cordoba and Seville still contain
layered Islamic attributes. The space extending past the architecture is an opportunity that engages
so many aspects. Architecture must go beyond architecture and rewrite its definition to embrace
the challenges of society, responding with a new critical discourse on social and technical levels
(Serageldin 11 12). Muslims were able to

Essay on Environmental Laws vs. Economic Freedom
Sustainability
Vega Gordilio and Alvarez Arce (2003) states economic freedoms exist in the following
conditions; property acquired without the use of force, fraud, or theft is protected from physical
invasions by others. Economic freedoms exist when individuals are free to use, exchange, or give
their property to another as long as their actions do not violate the identical rights of others (Vega
Gordilio Alvarez Arce, 2003). Environmental laws are established by the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) who works with state, federal, and other government agencies to issue limitations on
individuals and organizations in order to protect the environment, endangered species, and others
from harm (Coons, 2009).

Providing society with an increase of economic freedom will likely increase harm to the
environment (Ozler Obach, 2009). Ozler and Obach (2009), states that the less freedom afforded for
capitalism through government regulations, the better the ecological footprint. Government
penalties and regulations require businesses to dedicate funds and resources to avoid harming the
environment. Endangering the ecology presents the choice of saving lives or spending money.
Almost everyone would vote to save lives but in many cases businesses will vote for legislation that
will increase the organization s bottom line (Smith Jeffreys, n.d.). Government intervention is
needed for the protection of the environment, which subsequently protects the human race.
Federal air quality regulations, regulatory protection for endangered species, federal programs for
the cleanup of hazardous waste sites, the Clean Water Act, and Federal mandates for automobile
fuel efficiency, are just a few of the laws imposed by the government to protect the environment.
Many of government programs are costly for businesses and some even counter productive.
Government intervention is called for when market activities impact environmental quality (Frazier,
2003).
Fulton (2010), states that the heavy environmental regulations have actually strengthened the
economy. The regulations imposed by the government put pressures on private business to comply.

Introduction:
Synthetic chemistry and compounds are everywhere in our lives, and without them we would never

impossible to accomplish, as synthetic chemistry opened the doors of creativity and innovation,
for example if you got sick in the 1400 with smallpox you would of died in a 2 4 month but now
we can easily treat it with synthetic drugs. Today I will be talking about the use of synthetic

A Master Mind By Napoleon Hill
The term mastermind is a current buzzword among entrepreneurs. Although it might be nice to
have a supergenius like Lex Luthor on your side, the term mastermind, in the context of
business, has nothing to do with comic book supervillains. The term was first coined by
Napoleon Hill in his famous 1925 book The Law of Success. In the book, a master mind (two
words at that time) was his way of describing the benefits of cooperation among business
colleagues. The book itself was a good example of the power of a mastermind, as it was derived
from interviews with over 100 of the most highly successful millionaire business people at that
time. Fast forward to the 21st century, and the term is still popular, although the meaning has
changed somewhat. Today the term mastermind refers to a group of entrepreneurs that come
together to lend support and share various resources of knowledge, contacts and opportunities.
There are many kinds of masterminds. Some have membership dues and some are free. Some
are more specifically geared toward specific industries or demographics, while others are
completely open. There are large online groups that interact through social media and small local
groups that meet in person. When a group of talented people with the same goals come together,
there are many ways they can help each other. Masterminds are a primary example of this dynamic
at work. Consider the following reasons why you should join a mastermind. Collaboration People

Such a character can be thought of as someone watching from the sideline, having an unknowing
effect on another s life, and it is those characters who are in the background who are often
overlooked. Although such characters may not have carried out significant actions, their role can be

After years of suppressing the past, Boy s conscience is finally aligned with the present. Dunstan
becomes a significant factor of influence in the actions of Boy Staunton because of his emotions.
As Dunstan was tortured by his guilt, morally, he knew it was only right to tell the truth. As a
result, Boy eventually confesses. Similarly, Horatio too acts as Hamlet s second conscience. When
Hamlet, Horatio, and Marcellus are met with the ghost, Horatio displays his worry over Hamlet,
informing him on how Hamlet should choose not to follow the ghost, providing such reasons:
What if it tempt you toward the flood, my lord,
Or to the dreadful summit of the cliff
That beetles o er his base into the sea,
And there assume some other horrible form
Which might deprive your sovereignty of reason,
And draw you into madness? (1.4.69 74)
In this scene, Horatio s conscience is evident as it displays his unease over Hamlet s safety.
Compared to Dunstan s emotion of guilt, Horatio experiences fear for Hamlet s safety and attempts
to convince Hamlet to not follow the ghost in fear that he will draw Hamlet into madness. It is this
particular moment in the scene that demonstrates the significance of the fifth s conscience. Later in
the play, it is proven to be true that Hamlet has in fact fallen into madness. Both Horatio and
Dunstan display the aspect of acting

Glycemic Index
The glycemic index is a good measure of how carbohydrate containing food affects a person s blood
glucose levels. In was originally introduced in 1981. The general rule for Glycemic index is that
low glycemic index food was digested and absorbed slowly and high glycemic index food are
rapidly digested and absorbed. These two factors result in different glycemic responses from the
body (Sun, O Reilly, Li, and Wong, 2013, p. 1001). It is because of these reactions that many
people have become interested in seeing how the different glycemic index of foodwill help athletes
during exercise. One of the main ways people use the glycemic index for exercise is in their pre

yes, there are sports that do not necessary need a lot of endurance for, but in training most sports
last long enough that you do need some endurance. It is still beneficial to allow you to have
some form of energy to be able to use while exercising. If someone wants to be a good athlete
their ability to sustain prolonged submaximal exercise is primarily determined by fuel
availability (Wong, Siu, Lok, Chen, Morris, Lam, 2008, p. 23). The need to allow your body to
be able to perform at its greatest level all comes down to how you fuel it. When fuels with foods

Outsourcing Repairs On Major Aircraft Components
Outsourcing Repairs on Major Aircraft Components: The Financial and Time Saving Benefits.
Executive Summary
For decades airlines have turned to third party Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities
and contractors to take on the tasks of performing maintenance on their fleet of aircraft s. But over
the past few years, airline companies have been relying on these facilities more and more due to
the supply and demand of air travel. Third party MRO s provide a service of outsourced labor to
perform maintenance on the aircraft s, which allows airline companies to focus on other things.

Sacrificing an aircraft to be out of commission for a couple weeks is more cost effective than
having to perform lengthy maintenance procedures such as engine overhauls and phase
maintenance by our crew. Third party companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman,
and even Rolls Royce are used to do certain types of maintenance and troubleshoot problems for
airline companies. A 1997 General Accounting Office (GAO) report estimated that one half of the
maintenance performed by United States airlines is actually outsourced to repair stations, creating
an extremely competitive environment within the third party aviation maintenance industry (FAA,
2003.) Not only does outsourcing maintenance save money in the short term, it also saves money in
the long term.
Many third party organizations are providing long term service contracts with airlines so that they
can feel secure and know that the cost for parts and labor will not fluctuate throughout the years.
This is why many airlines have created alliances and service agreements with many Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and third party Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) stations
to perform their maintenance and servicing. Another benefit of outsourcing is that it allows the
airlines to cut back permanent maintenance personnel. This saves them money by reducing paid out
salaries for long term workers. As head of the Maintenance department with

The Three Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion
The boxer rebellionв€’the fight between China and Western countriesв€’has been a debate since the
end of 1901. Many people have been wondering how the war happened and what were the reasons
that lead to it. Although many researchers have shown the causes they have found, there will be
other research that disagrees with them. This paper mainly supports the claim that suggested the
three major causes of the boxer rebellion, and refutes the point that the new technologies and
innovations that the West had introduced helped Chinabe more developed. It will define three main
elements that leaded to the boxer uprising which are the personal and religious belief of Chinese
people, the rise of Christianity, and the support of Qing dynasty. As the result of the Opium wars
and Sino Japanese war, Chinese had suffered defeat, and more of foreigners came by to transform
and try to rule the country (Chandler, 2012). China had been changed since the arrival of
foreigners after the Opium wars and Sino Japanese war. Some Chinese accepted the changes and

The And Sacking Of The Greatest Metropolis
The plundering and sacking of the greatest metropolis (Constantinople) in the Christian world.
Surely, this was not the result that Pope Innocent III had in mind when he called upon the leaders
of Europe in 1198 in an attempt to convince them to retake the Holy Land (Jerusalem). Since the
death of Saladin, PopeInnocent believed they were at a moment of weakness and it was a great
opportunity to take the Holy Land (Robinson). However, they would never get there. Short of
resources and men the crusaders took deals with the Republic of Venice and Alexis the IV. These
deals involved them invading Zara and Constantinople, fellow Christian kingdoms (Robinson). The
irony of such actions is astounding, considering their original mission of taking the cross in the
name of Christianity. The 4th Crusade was an eruption of tensions between the West and the
Byzantine Empirewhich was caused by the barbaric, greedy, and hypocritical nature of the Western
leaders and crusaders and would leave a devastating impact on the future of Byzantium. The
relationship between Byzantium and the West was severely severed by the time of the 4th crusade.
There were still animosities from the West regarding the Schism of 1054 when the Orthodox
Church split from the Catholic Church (Phillips). There were tensions caused by invasions by the
fighting between the two parties in decades previous, and also by the mannerism of passing

The Kingdom Of Heaven And Jesus s Mission On Earth
One dominant study from the New Testament has been The Kingdom of Heaven as it is believed
to be the central theme within the novel and Jesus s mission on earth. The phrase Kingdom of
Heaven is supposed to be the Kingdom of God, in which those who are spiritual believe in his
existence in their hearts leaving this kingdom as the place where God is unfolding his divine
plans (Walvoord, 2015). Christians believe that God is the creator of all things and sovereign over
the universe however the Islamic faith believe that God sent prophets to teach his laws and one

Mainstreeter Law Case Paper
When starting a new law firm, there are a variety of expenses. Some are a one time start up fees,

The office space Mainstreeter Law hopes to purchase is a two story house in which the entire
first floor has been converted into a traditional 3 office layout. The second floor is a 2 bedroom
apartment that is totally separated from the first floor offices and includes its own entrance in
the back. The location and size of this office are ideal. It is in downtown Sauk Centre, and the 3
offices allow Mainstreeter Law room to grow. At $159,000, it is a substantial investment, however,
because Mainstreeter Law is buying instead of renting, they will be able to build equity with each
payment. The monthly mortgage payment on a 15 year fixed loan with a rate of 4.18% would be

John Feinstein s Cover-Up
John Feinstein in his book, Cover Up, strongly posits the point that all people should not just
take what is given, but to do further investigation to find out the truth behind all things in life.
John Feinstein uses author s purpose widely in order to get the reader to understand his overall
them of the book. In this book the NFL has come under some heat for drug testing and
suspensions. Two young reporters, age 14, choose to do their own investigation. Susan and Steve
both decide to do their part to expose the NFL and hold their feet to the fire about the massive
scandal. On page 89 the one of the characters are asking a reporter a series of questions about
suspensions and other things concerning the NFL. Now, the author s purpose in... Show more

Without this vital element in the book the entirety of the book and its qualities could not be held
together no matter how good the author could write. Foreshadowing, mystery, suspense, and even
justice could not work in adhesion without timing, fluency, and quality. I m kind of a magician. I
wave my magic needle on Sunday s and everyone plays. Eddie Brennan wouldn t have seen the
last two months without me. (92). The character Susan is still in her interview with her boastful
reporter. He says that many players take pain killing shots to get them through the winter months.
By doing this they are able to avoid checkups and secure their place on the starting line. The
player that he is referring to, Eddie Brennan, used illegal painkiller cortisone shots to get through
the months of February and January on a bad knee. This would allow him to keep playing, stay on
the starting line up, and fastened his contract for longer thus making him more money. This type of
evidence is revealed in just the right timing for both the readers and the characters and allow the
plot to flow smoothly and continue on. If this essential piece of evidence was exposed later then
the characters may not have come up with their arguments for their case when they expose the NFL

Describe and Explain the Different Forms of Church...
Describe and explain the different forms of church governance in Zimbabwe
Governance is a set of policies, power and structure by which the rights, powers and privileges of
people are processed and protected. The term government refers to the management, administration,
rule or direction, control, command, authority or leadership which processes and sees to the
implementation of these policies. The Church government is set to manage and control the
privileges of the children of God e.g. prosperity, healing etc. Simplified, it is the organization pattern
by which the church movement or congregation rules, controls or directs itself. Even in the church

In this form, authority is vested on the congregation as an independent body with no person or
organization above it except Christ. It emphasizes on democracy and the leaders are selected
solemnly based on relationship to the congregation. Their structure consists of Pastors, Elders and
then deacons. The leaders responsibility is to implement the decisions which would have been
carried out by the church body. The system is based on Act 15:1 2 And certain men which came
down from Judea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of
Moses, ye cannot be saved. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and
disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should
go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question. They say the church is the one
that sent this delegation to Jerusalem to enquire on the issue of circumcision. They therefore
believe that the congregation runs the church by appointing and sending elders. They also use Act

and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

which it fits. Their power to discipline as a congregation is based on 1Co 5:4 5 In the name of our

Ohio State University Traffic Investigation Report
Introduction
Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors on campus is one of the Ohio
State University s greatest concerns. As one of the most common and dangerous threats to student
safety, traffic safety is always a vital consideration. Due to pedestrian complaints, the universityhas
directed their attention Woody Hayes Drive and Olentangy River Road. The team has been
appointed to approach this issue using a spot speed method. The purpose of this experiment was to
collect and evaluate traffic speed data in the area in order to determine if further action from the
university is necessary to improve traffic safety.
The next section, experimental methodology, describes how the experiment was setup, carried out,
and the conditions in which the experiment took place. Section 3 displays the results that were
obtained from the experimental procedure, as well as provides a brief description as how the data
were evaluated. Section 4 attempts to create a logical interpretation as to what the results mean, as
well as identify any potential errors that may have skewed the results. Finally, section 5 summarizes
the report, and suggests conclusions for the results posed throughout the experiment and potential
solutions to errors discussed in section 4.

To determine this interval, a ruler was used to find two points on the curve in Figure A1 whose

cumulative percent limits of 88% and 15%. The difference between the two percent limits
determined the percent of vehicles traveling within the pace. This yielded 88% 15%=73% of total

Human Development Reflection
The birth and growth of mankind are magical. During these eight weeks study, I found the huge
interest in lifespan human development. This course taught me the roots of human beings. Until
now, I realized how human was born, and I also learn a lot about human development and
possible diseases in each period. Besides, I learned the research process. They are really wonderful
knowledge and helpful to me!
The three thing I interested is research methods, the collaborative gene, and prenatal development.
First of all. I learned research methods from the video lecture. That is the first time I ve heard
about a detailed explanation of research methods. I was really interested in it because it is very
important for us. The higher education level we are, the more research we need to do. As what I
ve learned, research has seven methods. The first step called: defining the problem . That means
at the really first time when we do research, we should know what we want to know via this
research. We need to come up some research question in our mind. The second step called:
reviewing the literature . In this step, we should read some previous studies which are related to
our topic. The literature must be trustable, and for journals, peer review is the better choice. The
third step called: forming a hypothesis . This step tells us after we are familiar with the previous
research, maybe we can form a hypothesis in our mind. Actually, I have a little question about
this step. Is this hypothesis based on the gap in the previous? The fourth step is choosing a
research design. This is a step that organizes our research method. We need to think about who is
the participants, when and how well we collect data. The fifth step is collecting the data. This
step is kind of do your research plan what you prepared in the fourth step. There are many ways
we can choose to collect data. Such as questionnaires, online survey etc. Next step is analyzing the
data. This step is kind of tell the readers our research results. For here, we should determine if our
hypothesis was true, false, or inconclusive. Also how the result similar to your thought. The final
step is drawing conclusions. I think this is the most important part because you

Essay On The Movie Metropolis
Metropolis is a silent film about a modern city. The people are divided into the lower class and the
upper class. The people who belong in the lower class lives in the city of workers and the people
who belong in the upper class lives in the city of Metropolis. This science fiction film was directed
by Fritz Lang. He also wrote the screenplay together with Thea von Harbou, who was also the
writer of the novel where the movie originally came from. This film was produced by Erich
Pommer and was released in 1927.
The film started with presenting both sides in that futuristic city. The city of the workers, where the
lower class work and operate the machines that supplies power, and the city of Metropolis, where
the upper class are living their prosperous life. When Freder, the son of the master of Metropolis
was in the pleasure garden, he caught sight of the children with their teacher, Maria. Freder was

Integrating Virtual Teams And The Development Of Employee...
Structuring Virtual Teams Introduction With the increasing progression of modern technology, and
the paramount development of employee expectations, society has seen great shifts in
globalization. Organizations have created new and innovative ways to teamwork, and many of
today s organizations have transformed their views from traditional teamwork, to a new
phenomenon in that of virtual teams (Daft, 2012). Due to globalization, organizations have become
cross functional, and utilizes modern technology such as e mail, instant messaging, video
conferencing and other information technology platforms to collaborate and perform organizational
tasks (Daft, 2012). In recent years we have seen an influx in the development and usage of... Show

Work Design Option Because of the challenges faced by virtual teams, many organizations that
utilize them encounter significant obstacles to effective work processes (Piccoli Ives, 2004). Team
leaders must understand that a properly designed virtual team, with a solid team structure provides
the foundation for effective team performance and offers a viable strategic approach (Prasad
Akhilesh, 2002). Although there are various views on virtual team structures and their
effectiveness, research suggest that there are no specific criteria s to distinguish teams in terms of
their virtual structures, as a result, the most common way of understanding virtual team structures
is through the observation of their organizational chart (Prasad Akhilesh, 2002). However, due to
globalization, and the fact that many virtual teams today are comprised of individuals in various
geographical locations, virtual team designs go far beyond a typical organizational chart. Virtual
leaders should understand that an effective work design must address the contextual elements, and
the process and procedures that individual team members bring to the team (Prasad Akhilesh,
2002). McLean (2014), suggest that there is no true effective approach to virtual team structures
(McLean, 2014), therefore, it is vital that team leaders realize that paramount to the success of the

Essay on Voodoo Speech
What Will Be Covered
Today, I m going to be talking about the roots of voodoo and what it actually is, the two types of
voodoo, voodoo rituals and superstitions, and why voodoo is perceived as a negative or
controversial topic.
What Is Voodoo?
I m sure everyone has their own perception of voodoo inside their head. Most people think
includes black magic, evil spirits, and causing harm to others. However, voodoo is actually a
complex tradition of faiths and beliefs that combine into an overall world full of religion and magic.
It is believed to have started sometime around 1724 in Africa, Haiti specifically. Today, there are
still people in parts of the United States that believe in voodoo and practice it. Voodoo embraces the

New Orlean Voodoo Rituals
New Orleans voodoo rituals differ from those of Haitian voodoo because of their emphasis on
voodoo queens, gris gris, superstitions and spells. Voodoo queens were central figures to voodoo
in the United States. They looked over ceremonial meetings and ritual dance while also obtaining
income by making charms, amulets and magical powders that were guaranteed to have special
healing powers. The most legendary voodoo queen was Marie Laveau because of her special
powers and ability to do exorcisms. She quickly overthrew the other voodoo queens of New
Orleans. Gris Gris is a voodoo amulet which is believed to protect whomever wears it from evil
and will provide them with good luck. New Orleans voodoo is also known for their superstitions,
however, they aren t central to the actual faith. These superstitions are just resulted from ancient
Louisana voodoo tradition and have influenced the faith.
Why is Voodoo shown in a Negative Light?
I m sure before I talked about voodoo, you expected something totally different. I, myself,
thought voodoo was actually all about black magic and evil spirits. However, voodoo is not
actually negative. When the early Haitian slaves came over to different parts of the world, they
also brought over their faith. However, because they were black and their religion was not
recognized, it was prejudged as evil. The priests were known as witchdoctors, the Loa were thought
to be evil when in reality, the

Montaigne s Skepticism Argument Of Constant Flux
Montaigne s Skepticism Argument of Constant Flux This skeptical argument is based around the
premise that there is no constant existence. This means that there is no unchanging being nor
nonbeing object. Everything is changing, growing, learning, multiplying, and moving. With
constant movement comes constant changeof both the known and the knower, and since there is no
being nor object that does not change, both the person and their judgement continue flowing, which
then allows nothing to be established for certain (MP, 13). Human nature is constantly in the
middle of being born and dying, and are subject to passing from one change to another as humans
grow, learn and change. Everything is either coming into being and growing, making it a current
incomplete substance, or it is beginning to die. An example that helps one to understand this
argument is the concept of a woman birthing a baby boy (MP, 14). This baby is always changing,
every moment of every hour of each day. At first the infantleaves the mother s womb as an
unformed infant, then becomes a suckling infant completely dependent on its mother. He is
continuously learningthat when he is hungry or needs to be changed, he simply needs to cry. He
learns to laugh and make noises, sit up and crawl. Eventually he learns to walk and talk and then
one day the baby boy is not a baby anymore. He is a boy, and then a youth, next a mature man,
then a man, and finally a decrepit aged man (MP, 14). This change seemingly

Disability narrative is a significant type of writing that presents life experiences and point of
views of people with disabilities, either in first or third person. Autobiographies are an effective
method of communication for disabled people to express their opposing viewpoints to the ethical
and logical views of the disabled in the society (Couser). Georgina Kleege, an English professor at
the University of California Berkeley and has written many personal essays, books, and literature of
this type of writing to expand her thoughts of disabilityrepresentation to her readers. One of her

Instead, she starts out the letter by describing her uneasy morning with conflicting snow,
technological problems, bad attitude of reader, etc in great detail (186 189). She took almost
her first half of the paper describing her unfortunate day. Thus, her first intention was to entertain
and engage her readers, making them want to read on. After the readers understand what s
going on, there s a shift in the structure. In the middle of the essay, she states, which brings me to
the present moment and to you, Helen Keller...This is precisely why I m writing to you (189).
Kleege moves on to her main point on why she is writing to Keller and what she wants the
readers to learn. She wants to tell Keller and the remaining audience that she s angry about the
world being inaccessible to her because of her blindness. Even more, she s unable to complain
about it because of people s judgemental views in comparing her and Keller. People would indeed
say something similar to why can t you be more like Helen Keller, especially since you re really
nowhere near as bad off as she was. (190) People would view her as an unreasonable person for
complaining. With the entertaining and then concerning structure, Kleege provides them a relaxed,

  • 2. The Organizational Management Report ( Omr ) Or Omr... Introduction The purpose of this assignment is to help me make a decision in my workplace on whether we should provide the Organizational Management Report (OMR) or OMR summary or both version reports to each organization who eligible to receive a report. There are two factors that we need to consider before we make the decision. The first factor is time. How long will it take us to populate five hundred and twenty full versions OMR and OMR summary? Our office has promised to provide the report by the second week of October. The second factor is the ability to understand the report. The majority of the managers and leaders find an OMR is a little overwhelming since the OMR has a total of forty pages. The majority of the manager and leaders do not have much time to spend on the report. On the other hand, there are organizations that want to have an OMR which allow them to manipulate the data and create their own survey report. Identify Decisions A. Brief background on the proposed project and challenge/problem you are trying to address My colleagues and I are responsible for the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS). Since this is an employee survey report, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has set a policy of a minimum ten employees in each organization completed the survey in order to eligible to receive a raw data survey report called Breakout Report (Annual Employee Survey Guidanc, 2008, p. 8 para 1). Increase in current liabilities Substantial increase in current liabilities weakened the company s liquidity position. Its current liabilities were US$2,063.94 million at the end of FY2010, a 48.09% increase compared to the previous year. However, its current assets recorded a marginal increase of 25.07% from US$1,770.02 million at the end of FY2009 to US$2,213.72 million at the end of FY2010. Following this, the company s current ratio declined from 1.27 at the end of the FY2009 to 1.07 at the end of FY2010. A lower current ratio indicates that the company is in a weak financial position, and it may find it difficult to meet its day to day obligations. Opportunities: Global demand for coatings market The growing market for global coatings will certainly benefit the company. Market analysts expect the global coatings market to reach US$98.69 billion by 2015. This expected increase is primarily due to economic activity, rapid industrialization, and increasing demand from automotive and construction sectors in developing countries. The Asian market is also forecast to increase at a compounded annual growth rate of 4.2% through 2015. Being a manufacturer of paints and coatings, the company can tap this growing market. • 4. Being A Man In The Wonderer And Beowulf Allica Cardona Dr. Scaggs English 2322.102 25 September 2017 To Be or Not To Be .. a Man Being a man during the medieval period meant a lot more than being a man in the twenty first century. There were certain expectations, and above all, different aspects when it came down to what being a man was. Some things that are very evident are kinship, brotherhood, male to male relationships, and bonding. While reading The Wonderer and Beowulf, it is very easy to pick out spots where these different aspects are shown. So, how exactly do we know how these acts are being portrayed? While reading Beowulf, right off the back the reader can get a sense of what being a man means. There is a bond of unity from the very beginning. Brotherhood and kinship go hand in hand because even though Beowulf did not need any help from the men who traveled with him, they all stood by him and were there for moral support. The relationships between men seemed like they were a lot more important, than those with women. Not only are women rarely mentioned during this time, but when they were, they were often portrayed as damsels in distress. This is where kinship and brotherhood go hand in hand. Just because these men were not of the same bloodline, that did not make them any less of a family. There was always constant support, especially for Beowulf, and no one ever really went against each other. The bonding between men can be seen in two different ways in Beowulf. One way it can be seen is the fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The law is now known as The Sarbane Oxley Act (SOA). The SOA has eleven titles within the act and numerous sections, pertaining to ethics, accounting, financial reporting, responsibilities of officers, whistleblower protection, and increased criminal penalties built upon prior securities laws. The author also explores the theme of violence due to colonialismin her novel. Michelle Cliff depicts a theme of violence that existed in Jamaica through three of her main characters Clare, Christopher, and Harry. In the eighteenth century, it was known as the Land Of Look Behind, in reference to the caution required of English soldiers who traversed the area to root out the Maroons (Foyd 12; 41). As long as there was slavery there was also resistance, in the form of revolts and escapes. In places where the natural habitat provided spaces to hide out long term, escaped slaves created communities of their own and were often known as Maroons (Brown). Cliff alludes the Maroon tradition of resistance in several occasions throughout the novel. However, Cliff also depicts a historical accuracy about the Maroons. In Chapter 4, Cliff writes, Others people of the bloodlines of the Maroons came to their small houses and gathered around (Cliff 106). By Michelle Cliff writing about their small houses she wanted to portray them as self sufficient and people who practiced sustainable agricultural practices (Brooks and Clark). • 8. Essay on How Social Tensions Led To Wit The history of witchcraft during seventeenth century New England is inherently a history of direct confrontations within communities where relationships become tainted with suspicion, revenge and anger. The documents in Witch Hunting in Seventeenth Century New England have retold the events and stories of Puritan New England to give the modern reader an understanding of the repressive social institutions of religion and family structurewhich were controlling factors that lay behind the particular cases discussed in the book. However, in order to really interpret the structure of witchcraft, it is important to consider that social tensions(most likely a dispute or argument) combined with personal or familial bad luck, were the root of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A situation that demonstrates this is the case of Blanche Bedortha and her painful fits. Blanche blamed her ailments on Hugh based on an argument between him and Rice Bedortha, her husband. When having her fits, Blanche distinctly recalled the dispute and at once suspected that Hugh had used witchcraft on her (Hall 36). This demonstrates that Hugh was considered troublesome, and to accuse him of witchcraft would be the perfect punishment or reprisal. Actions of a person can also cause social tension among the town. The way a person behaves, acts, and responds can differentiate from the ordinary to the weird. In Puritan society, anything out of the normal is very suspicious, especially when someone does not react to a situation they way society would. Many people were accused of witchcraft because they behaved abnormally to a death of a family member or a neighbor. When Moxon s child died, Hugh did not have any emotions or sympathy. This attitude combined with the past argument that they had, Moxon immediately accused Hugh of witchcraft. Again, this case happened again when his wife Mary accused him of witchcraft. This was due to the fact that Hugh once more had no emotions when his kids died. When accusations were released, the accused would in no way regain their social standing ever again, even if they were found innocent after a trial. Magnified suspicions and distrust increased the social tension between the accused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Myth Of Truth Analysis Truth has always been a very vague and grey area for many people, it s something that cannot be agreed on by every single person. Each person has their own set of past experiences that have built upon their morals, values and ethics. This ties in with their overall idea of why they view truth and lies in the way that do. Professor Hedrick is interesting in the way that she teaches literature through the historical point of view, proving background information that enables students to build upon this background knowledge and find the interpretation for that piece of literature. Much like our differing viewpoints on the concepts behind truthand lies can be connected to differing interpretations over a certain work of literature. But when truth... Our journey through life has heavily influenced the ever changing stance over truth. Knapp, et all, Lying, 57 Throughout the interview she spoke about her seeing changes in the students, in their ideas, how they evolve in just a semester. Ethics to her is like a scale, it needs to be constantly adjusted, adapted and balanced. Much like her students writing styles, she sees their speech, their viewpoints over the world change drastically in just a semester, some students regress and others thrive. Their interpretations open up and they come up to her with what they thought but she is no stranger to the lies students tell. In her long career, she has had many outlandish lies told to her, what students will do to get out of trouble or an extension on an exam or extra credit. The idea of lying to an authority figure that could end in severe consequences is a lie that many students would not think of before but when they enter the college scene, they change; some students would do anything to get a little extra credit. It s part of her job to be vigilant for the possible lies students may tell in an attempt to take advantage of her. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparison Of The Assad And The Syrian Uprising It is important to note that these two case studies share a number of similarities that are worth pointing about before emphasizing their distinctiveness. Firstly, both the uprisings in Tunisia as well as the Syrian conflict both belong to the arena of collective political action, that is rather than individual acts of political dissent. Secondly, they are employed by organized opposition movements representing an oppressed minority of the disempowered majority, engaged against the unjust action of the state and institutionalized violence they exert. Thirdly, each operate outside the bound of conventional political channels such that they are non institutional. Arguably, the most important similar factor is that the both belong to the larger... During this period , the regime steadily increased their brutality of backfire, killing more civilians. What began as peaceful protests turned into demonstrations of tens of thousands of people across the country by the end of July of 2011. Solidarity among different sects was evident with people from diverse ethnic, social, and religious backgrounds participating. One of the activists remarked, no one was thinking of religion, ethnicity, or status. It was all about demanding freedom and supporting each other. The nonviolent protest movement won government concessions with the dismissal of the governor of Daraa, the release of hundreds of politics dissidents, the grant of citizenship rights to the Kurds, and the removal of the 48 year old emergency law. • 12. Magazine Advertising And Gender Stereotypes My thought process when collecting my magazine ads was that I wanted to showcase the various age groups of each gender. Many magazines have a specific audience in mind meaning that magazines aimed towards a young teen would not be as explicit as a magazine aimed towards a grown woman even though they might both contain the same message. I collected samples from three prominent magazines for females: J 14 (age range 8 14), Seventeen (age range 10 21), and Cosmopolitan (age range 18 34). I also repeated the process and collected samples from magazines aimed at males: Sports Illustrated for Kids (age range 8 15) and ESPN (age range 15+). I collected four ads per female magazineand three ads per male magazine for a total of twenty ads. Each magazine that I used was from 2016 in order to ensure that the ads were relevant because of how genderroles have changed over time. Nearly every team in the NBA now has an analytics department. However, it is important to fully understand analytics before applying that knowledge to the sport of basketball. Analytics is the discovery and communication of meaningful patterns in data (Stolbunov 1). Analytics being used in sports is simply called sports analytics. Even though analytics has its flaws, it has had a major impact on team building in basketball using statisticslike player efficiency ratingand effective field goal percentage. There are many important statistics used in analytics, but a couple are used to very great effect. One of the most important statistics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In baseball, the book Moneyball revolutionized the way that the whole sport looked at analytics. Basketball has a comparable situation. The book Basketball on Paper dives into the numbers behind the sport (Haefner 10). In this book, author Dean Oliver states there are four main statistics to tell which team will win, and also states of how much importance these statistics are. He says that a team s shooting is forty percent of winning, turnovers are twenty five percent, rebounding is twenty percent, and and free throws are fifteen percent (Haefner 11). One of the fathers of analytics in basketball claims that shooting is far and away the most important statistic in the game. However, in order to know how a team is performing in this category, the team must be compared against other teams. Doing this is extremely easy. If comparing two teams playing each other, the opposing team s effective field goal percentage is simply subtracted from the team being observed (Haefner 15). A golden example of the utility of effective field goal percentage is the Golden State Warriors. This team has broken records for three pointers made, and recently won seventy three games in a single season. The Warriors have an advantage on almost every other team in the NBA because of the vast amount of three pointers that they take (Dizikes 2). The ease with which effective field goal percentage can be used and its direct correlation to which team wins the game makes it possibly the most useful statistic in the game of basketball. However, while shooting does have a direct correlation for team performance, it does not always have a major impact on how a single player ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Among those things is the adversarial system that Australia s Rule of Law system follows. The argument stands that the adversarial system is too aggressive in its approach to the legal system. Purposefully, writers will incorporate setting in order to establish the main conflict or plot within the text. In addition, the use of setting can further extend the reader s knowledge and understanding of the message pertaining to the situation that the author is conveying. Consequently, the setting can be a critical element that helps the readers understand the main conflict presented by the author in a story. In The Flowers, the major conflict of the loss of innocence due to the sight of the dead man is depicted through the use of setting. As mentioned previously, the mood of the short story towards the conflict is a dark mood. Further, it could be inferred that the historical era was between the 1870 s to the 1950 s. This can develop the conflict because it creates a reason as to why or how the conflict came to be. In other words, the setting is the cause to the effect which is the conflict. The conflict of The Flowers, was mentioned earlier to be the loss of innocence due to the sight of the dead man. This can be presented within the text in paragraph 8 when the writer states, Myop laid down her flowers. From this quote, it can symbolize Myop s growth to youthfulness due to her sincere and mature actions. However, the sight of the dead man and the rope hanging on the tree can show Myop s loss of innocence since she had experienced an unpleasant situation where she must grow mentally in order to conquer her emotions. The historical era inferred to be around the 1870 s to the 1950 s can give a reason as to how the conflict started which was the lynching of the man. It has white matter that surrounds a central gray matter. The gray matter is where most of the neuronal cells are located. Injury to the spinal cord will affect the conduction of information across any part of the spinal cordwhere the damage is located (Maynard et al., 1997). This will often result in permanent disability of a certain muscle or region of the body (Meletis et al., 2008) and a loss of tissue where the damage is located (Peng et al., 2009). Because the antagonists can selectivly mediate the activation of P2X7, it is the perfect candidate for the therapeutic treatment of spinal cord injurys (Domercq et al., 2009). Stem Cell Research Stem cells are located in the spinal cord and they are hard to identify (Konstantinos et al., 2008). Human embryonic stem cells have advantages that other cell types do not contain. They have a large capacity for differentiation and for expansion. They also help in remyelination. However, studies have shown that human embryonic stem cell derived oligodendrocyte progenitor cells can help in neuroprotection, homeostatic maintenance, suppressing inflammation, and promoting the regeneration of axons. (Sharp et al., 2010). Most of the neural stem cell potential is in ependymal cells (Meletis et al., 2008). Although it might be nice to have a supergenius like Lex Luthor on your side, the term mastermind, in the context of business, has nothing to do with comic book supervillains. The term was first coined by Napoleon Hill in his famous 1925 book The Law of Success. In the book, a master mind (two words at that time) was his way of describing the benefits of cooperation among business colleagues. The book itself was a good example of the power of a mastermind, as it was derived from interviews with over 100 of the most highly successful millionaire business people at that time. Fast forward to the 21st century, and the term is still popular, although the meaning has changed somewhat. Today the term mastermind refers to a group of entrepreneurs that come together to lend support and share various resources of knowledge, contacts and opportunities. • 34. The And Sacking Of The Greatest Metropolis The plundering and sacking of the greatest metropolis (Constantinople) in the Christian world. Surely, this was not the result that Pope Innocent III had in mind when he called upon the leaders of Europe in 1198 in an attempt to convince them to retake the Holy Land (Jerusalem). Since the death of Saladin, PopeInnocent believed they were at a moment of weakness and it was a great opportunity to take the Holy Land (Robinson). However, they would never get there. Short of resources and men the crusaders took deals with the Republic of Venice and Alexis the IV. These deals involved them invading Zara and Constantinople, fellow Christian kingdoms (Robinson). The irony of such actions is astounding, considering their original mission of taking the cross in the name of Christianity. The 4th Crusade was an eruption of tensions between the West and the Byzantine Empirewhich was caused by the barbaric, greedy, and hypocritical nature of the Western leaders and crusaders and would leave a devastating impact on the future of Byzantium. The relationship between Byzantium and the West was severely severed by the time of the 4th crusade. There were still animosities from the West regarding the Schism of 1054 when the Orthodox Church split from the Catholic Church (Phillips). There were tensions caused by invasions by the fighting between the two parties in decades previous, and also by the mannerism of passing crusader armies in Byzantium in 1095. It is in downtown Sauk Centre, and the 3 offices allow Mainstreeter Law room to grow. I was really interested in it because it is very important for us. The higher education level we are, the more research we need to do. As what I ve learned, research has seven methods. The first step called: defining the problem . That means at the really first time when we do research, we should know what we want to know via this research. We need to come up some research question in our mind. The second step called: reviewing the literature . In this step, we should read some previous studies which are related to our topic. The literature must be trustable, and for journals, peer review is the better choice. The third step called: forming a hypothesis . This step tells us after we are familiar with the previous research, maybe we can form a hypothesis in our mind. Actually, I have a little question about this step. Is this hypothesis based on the gap in the previous? The fourth step is choosing a research design. This is a step that organizes our research method. We need to think about who is the participants, when and how well we collect data. The fifth step is collecting the data. This step is kind of do your research plan what you prepared in the fourth step. There are many ways we can choose to collect data. • 48. Montaigne s Skepticism Argument Of Constant Flux Montaigne s Skepticism Argument of Constant Flux This skeptical argument is based around the premise that there is no constant existence. This means that there is no unchanging being nor nonbeing object. Everything is changing, growing, learning, multiplying, and moving. With constant movement comes constant changeof both the known and the knower, and since there is no being nor object that does not change, both the person and their judgement continue flowing, which then allows nothing to be established for certain (MP, 13). Human nature is constantly in the middle of being born and dying, and are subject to passing from one change to another as humans grow, learn and change. Everything is either coming into being and growing, making it a current incomplete substance, or it is beginning to die. An example that helps one to understand this argument is the concept of a woman birthing a baby boy (MP, 14). This baby is always changing, every moment of every hour of each day. At first the infantleaves the mother s womb as an unformed infant, then becomes a suckling infant completely dependent on its mother. He is continuously learningthat when he is hungry or needs to be changed, he simply needs to cry. He learns to laugh and make noises, sit up and crawl. Eventually he learns to walk and talk and then one day the baby boy is not a baby anymore. He is a boy, and then a youth, next a mature man, then a man, and finally a decrepit aged man (MP, 14).
