Boxing The Compass
There are two major possible explanations that can trigger a sea level to rise. First, global warming
that cause melting ice in the mountain, such as mountain polar ice and glaciers ice layers, which
causing water is release into the oceans. Second, as ocean temperatures rise, the warmer temperature
expands and the sea level to goes up. In certain parts of the earth, particularly in low lying stream
areas, local land is sinking, in result of sea levels increase to higher ground. It is worthy of mention
that this theme is actually not new and probably one of the most interesting book dedicated to this
problem is the novel by Sandy Florian. Boxing The Compass by Sandy Florian, bring the theme of
global warming along the journey of a women and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As she mention in her book that ocean predominating this world of ice, and fog, [...] circulating
between its phases, by evaporating, by precipitation, [...] and the downhill flow of rivers, glacier and
ground water that keep spilling thorough (11). Another idea that the author tries to share to her
audience is how time is keep moving forward and nature is getting old along with the time. In her
book boxing the compass Sandy Florian express her deep thought and bringing her audience to
participate in the space and time as the women taking a bath and having a meditation of her past.
Sinking down into her tub, the woman dreams down and out into trackless, timeless ocean waters (75).
Sublimely, the author is precisely to remind in depth of what happen in the past, the she connect it to
the water issue and global warming. For the waters of the world are rising. Come here, come now and
forever, or until you disappear (81). The connection come here, come now echoes through the novella.
In this quote, show Sandy Florian visualizes her concern of unavoidable problem that human species
will face. As far as we know everything that exists in the earth is moving toward the inescapably and
irreversible tragedies of familial loss and climate disaster. It is natural and yet wholly unnatural of

Ordinary People Extraordinary Evil
Phil Zimbardo said in his TEDx talk Where there is good there is bad .There is no such thing called
utopia; we are not living in a perfect world that is full of angels. Bad people exist as evil is a complex
subject that many consider intolerable, which is around us and everywhere since the start of time.
However, some people never realize it is there, because they don t even know what it is and why is it
present. Basically, it is the precise definition of a behaviour that pushes individuals to not care for
others and adopt a detrimental manner. Fred E.Katz mentioned out in his book Ordinary People and
Extraordinary Evil that It focuses on how people behave toward one another where the behaviour of
one person, or an aggregate of persons, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But what is practical is that we must admit that villainy isn t born, it just starts from normal people
actions, as they are easily attracted to it. Fred E.Katz once stated in his book Ordinary People and
Extraordinary Evil The vast majority of killings were actually carried out by plain folk in the
population ordinary people (10) Throughout history we will find that most of the crimes are done by
ordinary people under someone s control to achieve his goals. Therefore, leaders also take a part in
producing evil as Fred E.Katz said in his book Ordinary People and Extraordinary Evil Does not the
responsibility for evil rest with leaders who manipulate their people to do their biddings? (Katz 11).
Furthermore, it is very easy for anybody to be tempted by evil as Phil Zimbardo said in one of his
TEDx talks There is a line between good and evil so good people could be easily seduced to cross that
line . Social , biological and psychological reasons could urge anyone to produce

Characteristics Of The High Renaissance
This research paper looks at the High Renaissance and the artists that it had produced during this
period. During this time period there were three individuals that had dominated the art world. These
three artists are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Even though this paper discusses
about the High Renaissance and the three who dominated it, the main focus of the paper is on
Leonardo Da Vinci. Even though he mad such famous paintings, he was not a prolific painter; he was
prolific draftsman as well as a great engineer, architect, inventor, and scientist. Besides having many
famous paintings, Da Vinci also had thousands of drawings, sketches, and doodles that he is famous
for. The drawings contained many notes of what he was interested. There are drawings of the study of
the human body, of his inventions and just things he see is interesting. In art history, the High
Renaissance period refers to a short period in which there was an exceptional artistic production in the
Italian states. The reason why this part of the Reniasance period is called the High Renaissance is
because it has been seen as the time in which the artistic aim and goals of the Renaissance has reached
their greatest application (n.d.). The High Renaissance style was the dominant art style during 16th
century Italy. Many historians believe that three individuals dominated this time period of art. These
individuals are Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. The oldest of the three was Leonardo
Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci was a universal genius. He was not only just the best painter of the world at the
time, but he was also known as a great inventor, architect, engineer and scientist. Even though he was
great in many fields, he is mostly known from his achievements as the painter of many famous
Renaissance art masterpieces.
Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 near the village of Vinci, which is 25 miles away from Florence.
Da Vinci was the illegitimate son of a local of Florence and a prominent notary Florence, Ser Piero Da
Vinci. Not much of his childhood is known, but as a teen he became an apprentice of Andrea del
Verrochio, the leading artist of Florence and the early Reniassance (2017). Later on Leonardo

Pragmatic Equivalence In Translation
Translation is considered as more deeper than exchanging lexical and grammatical terms . A translator
s main goal is to convey the message of the source text with the same meaning and intention . He can
achieve this goal when he applies pragmatic equivalence. Pragmatic equivalence can be defined as :
the ability of the translator to convey the source language to target language with the same intention of
the text producer and equivalent words and same affection to the reader . Mainly , pragmatics has to
do with the intention of speakers . It studies why sentences are used and studies also the context of
utterance and environment surrounding each sentence used in the situation . Translator should give
attention to different types of beyond meanings that arise from what s literally said , this can go under
term of implicit meaning which has relation with pragmatics . Moreover , Speaker s intentions has to
go with elements of structure and texture . In addition . equivalence has an important role in
translation process . And the translator will achieve his goal of exchange using equivalence . Since,

Nazi Impact on Education and Youth
Nazi impact on education and youth
My program for educating youth is hard. Weakness must be hammered away. In my castles of the
Teutonic Order a youth will grow up before which the world will tremble. I want a brutal,
domineering, fearless, cruel youth. Youth must be all that. It must bear pain. There must be nothing
weak and gentle about it. The free, splendid beast of prey must once again flash from its eyes... That is
how I will eradicate thousands of years of human domestication... That is how I will create the New
Order. Adolf Hitler, 1933.[1]
Naziism had a huge impact on German youth during Hitler s reign of power over the state. The life of
a German child changed dramatically during the 1920 s and 30 s, especially for ... Show more content

On the other hand, however, the group also did not enforce membership as stringently as their male
counterparts did. The League of German Girls was the female part of the overall national socialist
youth movement known as the Hitler Youth. Its proper title was The League of German Girls in the
Hitler Youth. An important part of life in the League of German Girls was to help the girls build
character, and to prepare them for what were supposed to be their future tasks within the Nazi
Volksgemeinschaft, or people s community, by getting them involved in programs that were for the
good of the people , such as collecting for the Winter Relief, helping with the harvest or collecting
medicinal herbs in the fields. But to the girls, many of the League of German Girls activities looked
like lots of fun and like something they really wanted to participate in along with their friends. Many
of the activities were not unlike what youth organizations offer today: BDM members could see
movies or plays at reduced rates, go on field trips, or go away to camp during their school holidays.
They were also able to compete against one another locally, regionally, and nationally in sports and
other competitions.

Angela Merkel As A Positive Role Model For Women
WOMEN
Justin, 16
1. What three qualities/adjectives do you associate with males? Stronger, more carefree, more social
2. What three qualities/adjectives do you associate with females? Intelligent, more clearly expressive,
greater self control
3. What 2 women (living or dead) do you see as positive role models for women? Why? Angela
Merkel is a good role model for women because she is an example of an intelligent woman who has
used her skills to take an effective position of power upon the world stage.
Mother Theresa is a good example of a woman who was strong in faith, and who was take charge, but
still humble and selfless.

9. What do you enjoy most about being male/female? I most enjoy the freedom of style that men
experience, which requires much less time and burden than typical female clothing and beauty. I also
enjoy possessing (some) of the greater athletic aptitude that men have.
10. What changes have you seen/do you think you will see regarding the role of men/women in
society during your lifetime? I think that in my lifetime, for better or for worse, men and women will
become much less defined from each other, and less expected to fit gender roles. I see how this can
benefit, but I worry that the consequences will be much worse. History shows that an ill defined
society tends to fall apart, and I worry that once we cross a certain threshold as a society, that we too
will fall apart.
11. What advice would you give (other gender) to help in the relationships? For men, I would suggest
to try and be more genuinely empathetic of how women are feeling and thinking. It is important to
actually try to understand what your female counterpart is saying, and take that with genuine attention,
concern, and thought.

Angelas Ashes Essay
Although life presents you with many obstacles, if you continue to persevere, eventually you will
achieve success. Angela s Ashes, by Frank McCourt, is a good example of this. Frank is constantly
limited by his poverty. We watch him stick with his goals and eventually accomplish them in the end.
He also watches his mother continually try to stretch the family budget in order to get meager amounts
of food. Death is also very prevalent in this book as Frank and his family have to adjust to the death of
loved ones.
People always say, you can t judge a book by it s cover, and Frank McCourt is certainly an example of
this. Throughout the book, he is constantly denied access to opportunities that will help to ... Show

Throughout Frank s childhood, there were very few times when feeding the family was not a
challenge. Even when Frank s father was working, he would very often drink his paycheck instead of
bringing it home to his family. Frank remembers a time when his father did bring home his paycheck,
and took notice at how proud his mother was when she was finally able to pay the man for her
groceries. She was able to hold her head up again because there s nothing worse in the world than to
owe and be beholden to anyone (23). This is where Frank learns that the ability to pay brings dignity
and self respect. He draws a connection, that when he has food, his family is prospering. Later on in
life, when Frank begins to earn his own wages, he loves the feeling of independence, and dreams of
providing for a family of his own. He works for Mr. Hannon, delivering coal, and makes many of the
other boys jealous of him. He doesn t mind when the boys harass him though, because he has the job
and Mr. Hannon tells him he s powerful (264). Frank connects having a job with being powerful. This
shows how Frank was able to overcome the struggles of hunger and actually taught him the value of
hard work.
Frank experiences his share of sadness relating to several deaths of

The Spanish And Mexican Period
1. The story line I am going to talk about is power and oppression, throughout California s history
there has been many events of power and oppression that has shaped California s history in many
ways. I selected this storyline because I am able to relate many of these events that have happened
throughout history. I will described the Spanish and Mexican period, the Americanization period, the
early 20th century, and the late 20th century to today.
First I will begin with the Spanish and Mexican period 1776 1846, during these period we could see
that there was a lot of power and oppression that started with the Spanish conquest to expand their
colonization. The spanish brought with them christianity trying to convert Native Americans to
become that same religion, the spanish developed a series of presidios, missions, and pueblos in the
lands of Native Americans where they were forced to change their religion, customs, and culture to
become part of the Spanish. Many Native Americans were killed by the Spanish soldiers when they
would decline to change their way of living. The Spanish practice oppression trying to convert this
people into christianity this is an example of the power and oppression the spanish used during these
period of time. After Mexico became independent from the Spanish empire the Mexican government
took control of California and during these period, the Mexican government put an end to the
mission/presidio system. The Mexican government allowed

Why Does Tim Burton Look Evil In Edward Scissorhands
Tim Burton s Essay
Tim Burton makes his character s look evil by using lighting, sound and camera movements. The idea
is to make his characters look mean but there really not, throughout the movie you will be able to see
these characters aren t the bad guy. He also uses joyful music in a dark time. Burton uses camera
movements to make his characters look bigger than other objects and people. Tim Burton uses lighting
to make his characters look evil, he uses low key lighting, and dark lighting, to do that.
Tim Burton uses lighting to make characters look evil. In the movie Edward Scissorhands Tim Burton
uses dark and low key lighting to make Edward look evil. When Edward is first seen he was in low

Tim Burton did this scene to show joy and happiness. He also uses joyful music in his other movie, A

Jack was singing a joyful he was excited cause he thought he was making children happy. He wasn t
though and he would later find out that he made the children scared by trying to be nice and give a
christmas. Tim Burton uses another joyful song during a dark time. Burton does this alot with his
films he is trying to get out that not everything is that dark. Tim Burton uses different camera
movements to make his characters look evil just like in the movie Willy Wonka. In this movie Burton
uses longshot to make Wonka look bigger than other objects around him. I think Burton does this to
show Willy Wonka is big and powerful. Another movie he did creepy camera movements on is
Edward scissorhands, when you first meet Edward the first thing you see is his scissorhands. Tim
Burton uses side angel show his scissorhands so they can really point out to you. I think Burton does

Analysis Of With The Planets, Op 32, By Gustav Holst
With The Planets, Op. 32, composed 1914 1916, Gustav Holst incorporates a wide array of cultural
and scientific references to create musical characters for each of the planets in our solar system. The
scientific connection is immediately clear simply by looking at how Holst chose to order the
movements. While he does not specifically place the planets in order of distance from the sun, they
still follow a pattern that clearly references their positions in space. Mars, Venus, and Mercury open
the suite, being numbers 3, 2, and 1 from the sun (neglecting to count Earth, which does not appear).
Following this are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, being numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 in order. While
an awareness of their scientific positions is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mars and Venus, movements 1 and 2, reflect similar dual scientific and mythological references. Mars
is the god of war, and his musical themes are clearly warlike: A menacing war drum rhythm is present
throughout, with low tones, dominant 5ths, and threatening melodies. Scientifically, Mars appears red
through a telescope a color commonly associated with war, rage, blood, and fighting (for example, the
phrase seeing red means anger, especially violent anger). Venus, in great contrast to Mars, is a soft,
sweet, and loving movement, reflecting the goddess Venus s dominion of romantic love. Through a
telescope, Venus appears white with occasional tones of soft yellow colors that are associated with
softness, light, and comfort (think of our association between the color white and the concept of
purity).
The remaining four movements follow the same pattern. Jupiter, or Zeus in the Greek tradition, is the
god of lightning (depicted holding a lighting bolt) as well as the mostly benevolent ruler of the gods.
His reign in Olympia is associated largely with peace and prosperity, which is reflected in his jolly
musical movement he is the Bringer of Jollity, per Holst. However, in contrast to Mercury, this is a
more stately jollity, reflecting both his enhanced position in the pantheon as well as the planet s
physically large size. A musical sense of storm beneath the surface, of potential power and strong

Future Teach Summary And Analysis
One of the tips I plan to use for myself as a future teach is To create a safe environment, show that you
are human (Koch, 2013, p 173). This is a very important tip for me to use because as a teacher we
always want to make sure that our students feel safe and that as their teacher we want to keep them
safe. The second tip I could use is Who are the student? What types of homes, apartments, or other
forms of housing arrangements do they live in (Koch,2013, p 173). This is another important tip to up
hold as a future teacher because it is important to have a relationship with your students, but to also
learn a little bit about them everyday. The third tip I could use as a future teacher is Offer Choices and
be flexible (Connell, 2013).

Background
Osteoporosis, millions of people suffered worldwide, is a condition where the amount of bone is
declined but its elements remain unchanged, leading to bone fragility and fractures (Garrow, James
and Ralph, 1999). Associated with morbidity and mortality (Holt et al., 2008), hip fractures are
recognized as the most serious clinical consequence of osteoporosis, resulting in an increased
estimated incidence from 1.26 million in 1990 to 2.6 and 4.5 million by the year of 2025 and 2050,
respectively (Gullberg, Johnell and Kanis, 1997). In Europe, the direct expenditure of osteoporotic

However, several randomized controlled trials (RCTs) proved no evidence between CaD and risk of
hip fracture (Smith et al., 2007; Law et al., 2006), suggesting that the amount recommended above
could not meet the needs for the elderly.
Due to prevalence in postmenopausal women and controversy mentioned above, this critical review
focuses on proving relationship between different level of CaD intake and prevention of hip fracture
via RCTs studies.
Search strategy
Pubmed and Web of Science were used in searching relevant articles with the terms calcium and/or
vitamin D , in conjunction with hip fracture . Titles and abstracts were read to select articles included
relationship between dietary and hip fracture. Non relevant articles such as education and management
of post surgery were discarded. Relevant articles should meet following criteria: a) English, b)
postmenopausal women, c) RCT, d) free of osteoporosis. Most of the chosen articles were only
focused on postmenopausal women, whilst the rest few ones focused on both gender.
Review
Fourteen studies were critically reviewed in order to check whether joint or independent effect of
calcium and vitamin D on hip fracture risk or bone mineral density as a result of effect on prevention
of hip fracture.

Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with
conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses while
others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumbleupon William Shakespeare.

Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century.
The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of
Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to
support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir
Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included
Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also
described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the
works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford,
Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess
of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed
that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a
group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of
them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. An example of this is people have

Why Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged
Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home schooling is becoming an increasingly popular choice
of education for parents in the United States of America. Homeschooling refers to the practice of
parents educating a child at home, rather than in a conventional public or private school setting (Hess
and Okun). This can take the form of individual instruction by a single teacher at home or in a small
group setting with combined resources of teachers and materials. It was estimated in a 1999 report by
the U.S. Department of Education that more than 850,000 students were being educated at home. This
number was increasing at rate of 7 to 15 percent annually (Hess and Okun). The numbers are
increasing because of the advantages for home school students. In order to promote individualized
learning, creativity, and self confidence, home schooling should be considered for more students.
Home schooling promotes individualized learning. Individualized learning is a learning environment
where a student and a teacher have one on one teaching situation. The teacher is able to focus on the
individual student. This method is beneficial because the instructor is able to focus and identify the
student s strengths, weaknesses, and needs immediately. This enables the student to know if he or she
is on the right track in the learning process. The student is better able to learn faster and cover more
material. Another reason individualized learning should be promoted is the student is able to have a
more in depth understanding of the content because it is tailored to the individual s learning styles.
These learners benefit because they are also able to get feedback as soon as the instructor examines
the work. This prevents the student from learning the subject incorrectly. Individualized learning is
obviously an advantage for home schooling students. The success of individualized learning is shown
in that some preliminary researcher suggests that children who are home schooled may outperform
their counterparts in public or private schools (Hess and Okun). When children are not in a classroom
full of other students, their creativity can flourish. Gillian Bowditch states that Home educated
children are invariably described as

Essay on The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
Barbara Tuchman s Guns of August is about World War 1. Her book has a unique way of telling this
story. Her books gives explanations for each country s involvement in the war. It describes the
opinions of the Czar and reasons for all of his crucial decisions during this time. It also explains how
Germany was in a tight spot and prepared for war a few years before it actually began. England was
not to worried about the war in Europe because it had it s own problems. The English people didn t
think it was necessary for them to enter the war.
However England got involved to try to protect the weak country of Belgium being attacked by
Germany. Germany was in a very difficult position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
France slightly believed this myth. They formed an alliance with Russia because in part of this myth
and also because it was better for two to face off with Germany than France alone. I like this book
very much because it goes into great detail. She explains vividly the events occurring that were crucial
in deciding the outcome of the war. She also writes in story form just like her other books, and it s
always easier to read a story that study a text book. My favorite thing about this book was that makes
the war seem like a story I ve never read, even though most people know the major events of the war.
Her style of writing keeps you guessing what s next.

Pros And Cons Of Owning Exotic Animals
Bob just bought a new tiger for $8,000. He was mauled the next day. Owning exotic animals is a
horrendous idea all around. For one, they are ridiculously expensive going for around $8,000. Exotic
animals are extremely dangerous and if let loose, will wreak havoc. To add more fuel to this fire of an
argument , give me reasons why you should own exotic animals. Exotic animals are expensive to
absurd level. On page 223 in the editorial, Wild animals aren t pets, For $8,000 a baby white tiger can
be yours. Suddenly, when the tiger grows and eventually kills you, you ll be broke and dead! Think on
that; you saved up at least 8,000 dollars only to be eaten by your pet. The text even goes on to say how
owning a wild animal could be so tragic.

Benefits Of Music Therapy Dementia
##**Can music therapy help treat dementia?** _Living with dementia is not easy, nor is seeing your
loved one suffer from it. Recent studies show that music therapy provides a plethora of benefits for
dementia patients. Music improves cognition, reduces stress, and thereby, makes a patient s life easier
to cope with. Music is probably not going to cure your loved one s dementia, but it can bring
significant sunshine in the patient s everyday life!_ Dementia cannot be categorized as a specific
disease it s rather a set of symptoms that interfere with cognitive abilities like: memory, language,
judgment, communication, and thinking. Usually, dementia starts with memory loss and gradually gets
severe enough to interfere with day to day life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two ways how music therapy works: active and receptive. In active music therapy the
patient and the therapist indulge in lively sessions of dancing, singing and playing instruments. In
receptive therapy, the therapist sings or plays music while patients simply listens to. Sometimes, the
therapist identifies familiar music and creates a playlist in mp3 devices like an iPod for the patient.
While familiar music might give a chance to reconnect with the past, random soothing music helps the
patients to calm down and concentrate. Professional music therapy is the ideal way to go, but

Double Jeopardy And The False Of The Fifth Amendment
The 1999 thriller Double Jeopardy tells the story of well off Libby, her husband Nick, and son Matty.
After awaking to an undeniably incriminating incident involving a missing Nick and Libby herself
covered in blood with a bloody knife, Libby finds herself falsely convicted of her husband s murder. A
plot twist reveals that Nick framed Libby and, with a new identity, stole away with their son to New
Orleans. In prison, Libby learns from another inmate that due to the
Fifth Amendment of the Constitution, if she could find Nick, she could actually murder him and get
away with it. This situation provides an entertaining and thought provoking story, however deeper

Libby was falsely accused and convicted of the crime, which is different than if she subsequently
followed through with committing the crime.
One cannot feel free to take advantage of a false conviction by later taking liberty to commit the crime
because of already standing trial for it. Imagine the potential legal hi jinks if bank robbers could rob a
bank, hire someone to prove they robbed the bank, hire someone else to prove they didn t, and then
rob the bank a second time with impunity. Of course each individual robbery would be a different
crime anyway because each incident took place at a different time and date,

and fun to come up with.
The layman s law resource NOLO answers the question of whether Libby s idea had basis by pointing
out that for the Double Jeopardy clause to have effect, there must be only a single crime in question.
Put more simply, the clause specifies that a defendant cannot be

Beauty In America Research Paper
Just because the definition of beauty in America is to be like a Barbie: tall, slender, and gorgeous, does
not mean that is the same definition in other countries. To be called beautiful in Thailand, one must
have light, fair skin to be labeled as an attractive individual. Instead of spending money on tanning
products like Americans do, Thais spend money on products that have whitening agents in them such
as lemon juice (Magnesi). In Japan, a person who is considered beautiful has a clear, smooth
complexion and stick straight hair (Magnesi). Japanese women that have wavy, or curly hair that
straight haired Americans long for, straighten their hair by whatever means necessary (Magnesi).

Throughout history, the way one defined beauty has changed. In the renaissance, women that were
curvy, and fleshy were considered to be the most attractive. Paintings from the renaissance show
women that would now be considered overweight in our time, but at that time they were considered
the epitome of sexy (CITE). Also, in the renaissance, women believed the lighter the hair, the better.
They strived for a pale face, and deep red lips (CITE). However, the women of the Victorian era were
much different than the renaissance women. They were very conscious about their bodies, and beauty
meant having the smallest waistline humanly possible (CITE). To achieve this small waistline, women
wore corsets. Their corsets were so tight that women could barely breathe, and sitting down was out of
the question (Cite). As for makeup in the Victorian era, only high class women were expected to wear
makeup sparingly. Bold colors were considered to be uncouth, and reserved for prostitutes (cite). In
the 1920 s instead of tight corsets to show off their curves, women wore loose dresses, and some even
bound their chests with a cloth to achieve a boyish look (cite). Going

An employment contract is a written legal document that lays out binding terms and conditions of
employment between an employee and an employer. The employers in ZARA need to makw sure that

the firm as they can talk about issues between each other. An example is when there is a problem with
the staffs pay amount of even the working conditions.
Codes of behavior
This is basically a set of conventional principles that are considered binding on the
employer/employee. This is mainly about what is acceptable behavior in the firm.
Employee involvement techniques
Companies might use these techniques in order to get the staff more involved in decisions being made
for the organization. This may also motivate the staff as they would feel they are also part of the firm
and not just ordinary staff working there.

Southwest Airlines case analysis
1. In what ways might airline customers be segmented? Airline customers might be segmented when
groups with varying needs and wants are recognized. They can be segmented on a number of different
types of things; such as age, gender, location, buying behavior, and demographics.
a. Which segments or niches would you consider Southwest s prime targets? Southwest s prime targets
would be that of business and leisure travelers. Business travelers are less price sensitive than leisure
travelers. They often travel on much shorter notice than leisure travelers. With the price of fuel rising

It also appears that with the stock incentives and the shares rising, that Southwest continue s to be a
rapidly growing firm, (Hartley, 2006).
4. On August 18, 1993, a fare war erupted. To initiate its new service between Cleveland and
Baltimore, Southwest announced a $49 fare (a sizeable reduction from the then standard rate of $300).
Its rivals, Continental and US Air, retaliated. Before long, the price was $19, not much more than the
tank of gas it would take to drive between the two cities and the airlines also supplied a free soft drink.
Evaluate he implications of such a price war for three airlines. Due to the fact that Southwest was
smart in their operation they were able to outwit their rivals. They were able to take the business of
their opponents and offering them fares at a valued price. The big airlines could not afford to keep up
with the legal battles as they were already losing money from not enough passenger capacity.
5. A price cut is the most easily matched marketing strategy and usually provides no lasting advantage
to any competitor. Identify the circumstances when you see it desirable to initiate a price cut and
potential price war. I think that I would initiate a price war when I see that competition needs to be
phased out. There are always new competitors offering some new amenity, but the war on fares will
always come about. It may be a certain season or a certain venue, but there will always be a need for

The Mission Of The Rocket Mission
The Rocket Mission The year was 2515. I walked into a nearby old antec shop where they sold mini
Empire State Buildings, Pyramids, and Eiffel Towers. I went in there to collect a mini Eiffel Tower
that the shop brought in, it had been a tradition that one person in my family would buy an Eiffel
tower each year as a remembrance of my family s story of the Tower, and this year was my year. After
I had walked into the shop and was greeted by a funky scent. It smelled like a mixture of dirty old man
and dust. It didn t take me long before I figured out what the smell was, a small, wrinkly, old man
walked up to me, greeting me with what looked like a bowl filled with dusty candy that must of been
there for 20 years. Trying to be polite I took a candy and shoved it into my pocket knowing that I
would never eat it anyway. The old man must of recognized me because before I had said anything, he
slowly hobled to the back of the shop and came back with something in the basket on his walker. You
must be a member of the Ferguson family, the old man had said in a raspy quiet voice. In reply I said,
Yes I am, how did you know?
You have the facial features of the others that have came in here.
Wow you have a good memory for an old man.
Who said being old causes memory loss.

  • 3. Ordinary People Extraordinary Evil Phil Zimbardo said in his TEDx talk Where there is good there is bad .There is no such thing called utopia; we are not living in a perfect world that is full of angels. Bad people exist as evil is a complex subject that many consider intolerable, which is around us and everywhere since the start of time. However, some people never realize it is there, because they don t even know what it is and why is it present. Basically, it is the precise definition of a behaviour that pushes individuals to not care for others and adopt a detrimental manner. In my castles of the Teutonic Order a youth will grow up before which the world will tremble. I want a brutal, domineering, fearless, cruel youth. Youth must be all that. It must bear pain. There must be nothing weak and gentle about it. The free, splendid beast of prey must once again flash from its eyes... That is how I will eradicate thousands of years of human domestication... That is how I will create the New Order. Adolf Hitler, 1933.[1] Naziism had a huge impact on German youth during Hitler s reign of power over the state. I most enjoy the freedom of style that men experience, which requires much less time and burden than typical female clothing and beauty. I also enjoy possessing (some) of the greater athletic aptitude that men have. 10. What changes have you seen/do you think you will see regarding the role of men/women in society during your lifetime? I think that in my lifetime, for better or for worse, men and women will become much less defined from each other, and less expected to fit gender roles. I see how this can benefit, but I worry that the consequences will be much worse. History shows that an ill defined society tends to fall apart, and I worry that once we cross a certain threshold as a society, that we too will fall apart. 11. What advice would you give (other gender) to help in the relationships? For men, I would suggest to try and be more genuinely empathetic of how women are feeling and thinking. It is important to actually try to understand what your female counterpart is saying, and take that with genuine attention, concern, and thought. Robert, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He also watches his mother continually try to stretch the family budget in order to get meager amounts of food. Death is also very prevalent in this book as Frank and his family have to adjust to the death of loved ones. Even when Frank s father was working, he would very often drink his paycheck instead of bringing it home to his family. This is where Frank learns that the ability to pay brings dignity and self respect. He draws a connection, that when he has food, his family is prospering. Later on in life, when Frank begins to earn his own wages, he loves the feeling of independence, and dreams of providing for a family of his own. He works for Mr. Hannon, delivering coal, and makes many of the other boys jealous of him. He doesn t mind when the boys harass him though, because he has the job and Mr. Hannon tells him he s powerful (264). Frank connects having a job with being powerful. Many Native Americans were killed by the Spanish soldiers when they would decline to change their way of living. The Spanish practice oppression trying to convert this people into christianity this is an example of the power and oppression the spanish used during these period of time. He thought he was actually making kids happy but he was actually making them scared. Jack was singing a joyful he was excited cause he thought he was making children happy. He wasn t though and he would later find out that he made the children scared by trying to be nice and give a christmas. Tim Burton uses another joyful song during a dark time. • 12. Analysis Of With The Planets, Op 32, By Gustav Holst With The Planets, Op. 32, composed 1914 1916, Gustav Holst incorporates a wide array of cultural and scientific references to create musical characters for each of the planets in our solar system. The scientific connection is immediately clear simply by looking at how Holst chose to order the movements. While he does not specifically place the planets in order of distance from the sun, they still follow a pattern that clearly references their positions in space. Mars, Venus, and Mercury open the suite, being numbers 3, 2, and 1 from the sun (neglecting to count Earth, which does not appear). Following this are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, being numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 in order. While an awareness of their scientific positions is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mars and Venus, movements 1 and 2, reflect similar dual scientific and mythological references. Mars is the god of war, and his musical themes are clearly warlike: A menacing war drum rhythm is present throughout, with low tones, dominant 5ths, and threatening melodies. Scientifically, Mars appears red through a telescope a color commonly associated with war, rage, blood, and fighting (for example, the phrase seeing red means anger, especially violent anger). Venus, in great contrast to Mars, is a soft, sweet, and loving movement, reflecting the goddess Venus s dominion of romantic love. Through a telescope, Venus appears white with occasional tones of soft yellow colors that are associated with softness, light, and comfort (think of our association between the color white and the concept of purity). The remaining four movements follow the same pattern. Jupiter, or Zeus in the Greek tradition, is the god of lightning (depicted holding a lighting bolt) as well as the mostly benevolent ruler of the gods. His reign in Olympia is associated largely with peace and prosperity, which is reflected in his jolly musical movement he is the Bringer of Jollity, per Holst. However, in contrast to Mercury, this is a more stately jollity, reflecting both his enhanced position in the pantheon as well as the planet s physically large size. Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century. The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. • 16. Why Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home schooling is becoming an increasingly popular choice of education for parents in the United States of America. Homeschooling refers to the practice of parents educating a child at home, rather than in a conventional public or private school setting (Hess and Okun). This can take the form of individual instruction by a single teacher at home or in a small group setting with combined resources of teachers and materials. It was estimated in a 1999 report by the U.S. Department of Education that more than 850,000 students were being educated at home. This number was increasing at rate of 7 to 15 percent annually (Hess and Okun). The numbers are increasing because of the advantages for home school students. In order to promote individualized learning, creativity, and self confidence, home schooling should be considered for more students. Home schooling promotes individualized learning. Individualized learning is a learning environment where a student and a teacher have one on one teaching situation. The teacher is able to focus on the individual student. This method is beneficial because the instructor is able to focus and identify the student s strengths, weaknesses, and needs immediately. This enables the student to know if he or she is on the right track in the learning process. The student is better able to learn faster and cover more material. Another reason individualized learning should be promoted is the student is able to have a more in depth understanding of the content because it is tailored to the individual s learning styles. These learners benefit because they are also able to get feedback as soon as the instructor examines the work. This prevents the student from learning the subject incorrectly. Individualized learning is obviously an advantage for home schooling students. The success of individualized learning is shown in that some preliminary researcher suggests that children who are home schooled may outperform their counterparts in public or private schools (Hess and Okun). When children are not in a classroom full of other students, their creativity can flourish. Gillian Bowditch states that Home educated children are invariably described as ...
