Family Is A Powerful And Meaningful Word Family
What is Family? According to the online dictionary family is all those persons considered as
descendants of a common progenitor. I view family in a whole different perspective. The word family
is a powerful and meaningful word. To me, it means people who accept you for who you are where
there s no hatred or judgement and love you unconditionally. A dog or pet can simply become family.
A person who you can count on through your emotional or financial distress can also be family.
Growing up my parents and siblings weren t always supportive or loving. I m the youngest and pretty
much seeked love and attention elsewhere which made me view my friends, colleagues, pets, and
counselors as family. I didn t have much of a childhood my parents had a lot of personal and financial
issues and eventually they became a part of my issues as well. I became depressed to the point school
was no longer a priority. I failed my classes hung around with the wrong crowd and no longer cared
about my life or future; somehow my teachers observed everything and became my mentors I felt the
love they had towards me and how they wanted the best for me. I grew close to them and start
questioning my own family and why they didn t have the urge to help me or understand me and how
much harm they have caused over the years. With the help of my teachers I became to make a slight
progress, but with the environment I was in I no longer had the strength to live at home. By the age of

Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, And Deceit
Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, and Deceit Many people believe lying is just a bad habit, but
that is not true. Lying is a part of human nature, no matter if it is a big or small lie, everyone has lied
before ( Lying: Bad Habit Or Human Nature? ). Everyone has different reasons for deceiving others,
but that does not change the fact that everyone has lied at some point. Human nature keeps the world
from achieving complete perfection, and Shakespeare allows this idea to be the foundation that his
plays build off of. The human nature of deception is found as a common theme in Shakespeare s
Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare uses these plays to communicate to his audiences
that sometimes in order to find the truth you have to use trickery and manipulation; thus creating the
idea that deception can be evil or harmless depending on the circumstances and the intentions of those
who are trying to decieve. Hamlet elucidates the dangers that deception can provoke in relationships
and shows the consequences of lying. Shakespeare shows his tangled opinions about deception
throughout Much Ado About Nothing by using manipulation to help benefit others and destroy
relationships; this allows Shakespeare to further show his idea that deception can be used for good and
evil. One of Shakespeare s main themes that is seen throughout many of his plays is deception; this
brings more dramatic components to the audience. Hamlet is a play that is solely created around a

Short-Term and Long-Term Memory Loss
Forgetting in Short Term and Long Term Memory: The memory of human beings is similar to that of
computers because it allows individuals to store information for later or future use. However, the
storage of information in humans involves three major processes i.e. encoding, storage, and retrieval.
The encoding process basically involves transforming data into meaningful form like association with
an existing image, memory, or sound. This is followed by holding on to the information through a
physiological change, which is the actual storage of the information. The final stage in this process is
retrieval where the stored information is brought out, which is a reversal of the encoding process (
Memory, Intelligence, and States of Mind , 2011). Since humans are more complex, they have three
different memory storage abilities i.e. sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory.
Short Term and Long Term Memory: Short term memory is the process with which information in the
sensory memory is transferred to a person s awareness or consciousness. The information becomes
currently active in the individual like talking to a friend, reading an article, or writing a paper. While
short term memory lasts longer then sensory memory, it still has very limited capacity (Cowan, 2009).
In contrast, long term memory is relatively permanent and virtually unlimited with regards to storage
capacity. The permanence of this type of memory storage capability originates from the fact

Atrocities And Liberation Of Concentration Camps
The Atrocities and Liberation of Concentration Camps If you combine sadistic Nazi soldiers, a license
to kill, and twenty six million people whom they took their aggression out on, you have the Holocaust.
From torture to murder, the concentration camp prisoners experienced almost every despicably,
inhumane act one can imagine. Hitler s Nazis will never be able to justify this ultimate example of
cruelty and unfairness. Although the Holocaust occurred nearly seventy years ago, the world will
never fail to remember the horrible acts that were committed against millions of innocent people in
concentration camps. Whether the camps establishments were for labor purposes, or simply because

Next, every bit of their hair was shaved off with electric razors and shearing machines. That hair was
used to make clothing that the guards and their dogs would wear. To finish off this disinfecting
process, the deportees were then taken into a shower room and were immersed in a phenol solution.
Those who lived, for many had died because they weren t able to stand or became unconscious, were
given wool rags to wear and wooden sandals that caused inflammation. Paper clothing that the
deportees had made was taken, and some had resorted to trading in their food for clothing, only to
have it confiscated shortly afterward (Whissen 5 13). Housing assignments for the prisoners were then
issued. The prisoners barracks, which were designed to house half the people who were stuffed into
them, were filthy and full of vermin, as one of the women assigned to them stated: When we arrived,
the sleeping accommodations appeared to be quite nice; the beds had been neatly made, and on each
straw mattress there was a small, blue white coverlet that was almost pretty. But unfortunately our
contentment did not last long. When we turned down the corner of the coverlet, we saw that the
mattresses and covers were crawling with vermin. My blanket was filthy. (Inside the Concentration

Summary Of The Limits Of Friendship By Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova s essay The Limits of Friendship, analyzes the impact of social media on close
relationships, addressing the people impacted by social media use. This essay published in The New
Yorker, a weekly magazine with scholarly authors, to inform the public on social media s impact on
our lives. She finds that social media has created a dependency on technology and online interactions.
Konnikova strives to inform that social media is decreasing close relationships, and persuades that it
will impact our future. She argues on the impact of increased dependency on social media on the
Dunbar number, hindering the development of future generations. Konnikova succeeds using strong
logic and scientific reason as well as appealing to emotions; however, she fails to prove her credibility
over the topic and instead relies on the credibility of Robin Dunbar.
To develop her argument, Konnikova supplies the reader with logic by using real life examples. One
example being notifying the audience of the research that the Dunbar number correlates with brain
size because it is simple to understand that group size and brain size flow together (par 1). Konnikova
applies Dunbar s historical findings to validate the size of a standard group (par 4). Showing the
reader that the Dunbar number accurately functions in society. Another example is her use of
clarifying the Dunbar number by examining Christmas cards in relation to social networks (par 5).
This enables the reader to have an

How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Maggot Movement
The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Maggot Movement. Environmental Systems and Societies
Planning Lab Gaurav Iyer
Research Question
To what extent does temperature affect the movement of Maggots?
Introduction
This Experiment aims to analyze the behaviour of the maggots in a particular temperature. Behaviour
of the maggots is defined as the way they respond to their surrounding and environment. Maggots are
organisms which react by quickly and a series of varied reflex reactions are shown and adapted. These
kinds of actions are very important for keeping itself in a particular environment to live. Therefore, it
would be expected that all maggots react in the same way to show a particular behavioural trend.
Temperature is an environmental factor that will affect the maggot s behaviour. The temperature in the
environment helps the maggots determine their rate of metabolism and its internal temperature. These
organisms move according to the environmental temperature. A trend can be found to show the effect
of temperature on the rate of movement of maggots.
Hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At higher temperatures, chemical reactions such as metabolism happen more faster because of the
increase in kinetic energy of the particles. As metabolism supplies the organism with energy, there will
be more energy produced at high temperatures. Thus, at higher temperatures the maggots will move
more quickly as their pacy rate of metabolism gives them energy to do so. Also, if the temperature is
too high for the maggots, there will be a decrease in the metabolic speed because of killing of enzymes
which will cause the maggots to move

How Should Marianne Barner Respond To The German Video...
How should Marianne Barner respond to the invitation for Ikea to have representative appear on the
upcoming broadcast of the German video program? The invitation to appear and be part in a live
discussion on the upcoming program is a complex situation, analogous to interviews made for
politicians close to elections. Even though, the environment is not the most favorable, every space is
essential, and it is an opportunity for IKEA to assume their responsibilities and take ownership of the
problem publicly, as they did when the issue of child labor was brought to their attention during the
Swedish documentary. Additionally, the company will have the chance to explain to the public opinion
all the actions that IKEA has been taking to fight against child labor, including the incorporation of a
clause to all supply contracts that stated that if the supplier employed children under legal working
age, the contract will be cancelled (Chistopher A. Bartlett, 2006). Furthermore, the appointment of an
independent third party to monitor child labor practices at its suppliers in India and Pakistan

delegation of recent trips to India. Not to mention, the partnership with the Rugmark foundation. And

The University Of Alabama And University At Birmingham
Deciding on a four year university to transfer to can be a very stressful decision. Talking to recruiters
from many different schools has revealed one thing; they all believe their school is the best. Recruiters
are not going to disclose the problem areas of their programs, nor highlight areas where other schools
are stronger. Therefore, leaving students to compare and contrast, everything the schools offer, and
attempt to make an informed decision. When comparing the different electrical engineering programs,
it seemed that every school claimed to be the most innovative, and had the ability to offer the most
opportunities to their students. When looking specifically at the University of Alabama and the
University of Alabama at Birmingham it became evident that their programs were very similar. Both
schools require the same computer and engineering seminar classes and both require that their
students achieve a C or higher in their math and science courses. Where they truly stood out from one
another is in their transfer requirements, the organizations available on campus, and the cost of
attendance. As a transfer student, one of the most important aspects of choosing any college is making
sure that all of the requirements can be met. The University of Alabama requires that to transfer in, the
student must have maintained a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, which is a C average. They also require that to
be classified as a transfer student versus a freshman student,

How Did Myths Influence Ancient Greek Society
Introduction Mythology in Ancient Greek society was extremely important. Myths are traditional,
socially powerful stories, usually about life, death, the afterlife, the world, humans, good and evil and
the gods. Greek myths had many purposes in ancient Greek society that still hold value in today s
society. Myths did shock and entertain their audience but they also explained phenomena, taught
lessons and values and allowed a connected between humans and the gods they worshipped. Myths
were used to explain phenomena as ancient Greeks had no scientific knowledge of the world and
wanted an understanding. Ancient Greeks were religious and felt a need to worship their gods is many
ways. Ancient Greeks felt strongly attached to their myths and held them at high value. Paragraph 1
Shock and entertain Myths entertained audiences and shocked them into believing certain things. As
there was no written record of stories, making their stories shocking and entertaining created ease in
remembering. The logic of the stories was accepted for entertainment purposes no matter how illogical
it was. Story telling was their form of entertainment. To entertain their audiences to the greatest extent
the stories were shocking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stories told to children were adjusted to suit the adults needs. As there was no written record
anyone could adjust the myths however they wanted. The myth of Pandoras box is an example of a
myth teaching a lesson. Pandora, a tempter to mankind disobeyed the instructions to not open the box
that she was given. Her disobeying her instructions lead to all evil being released to harm humans
(Donn, 2016). This story clearly teaches the lesson to listen to the instructions that you are given or
else harm will occur. Many gods in ancient mythology are half man, half best this displays that there
are two sides to humans and not to trust everyone freely as there is likely to be a side to them that isn t

Most stories have a simple plot development and setting. They follow the development of exposition,
rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution (also known as Freytag s pyramid). They also stick
to one setting. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge has a different plot development and setting
changes than most stories because it has two expositions and rising actions, no falling action, and

John Lennon s Influence On American Culture
The Beatles does the name ring a bell? All You Need is Love , Hey Jude ? The four members, Paul
McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and John Lennon were idolized and known all around the
world. Everywhere they went they were huge influences with everything they said and did. From the
time of formation of the English rock band The Beatles in 1960 up until his assassination on
December 8th, 1980, John Lennon was a tremendous influence to society as an antiwar activist and a
musical legend.
John Lennon had always been a hardcore hippy while he was part of The Beatles, however, after their
breakup in 1970 and his marriage to Yoko Ono, peace and helping fight against the Vietnam War
became his main focus. He d explored many religions, but decided love, peace and music were what
he put his whole heart into. His lyrics were his feelings and his beliefs. In 1975, Lennon s single

by the US Court of Appeals and Lennon s residency in Manhattan was made permanent the following

The study evaluated the academic, social/emotional, family and physical health well being of
immigrant children with a development for support plans based on the individual needs which build
on skills. The study used a multi method approach with qualitative and quantitative data including
multiple methods of measurement. In addition, longitudinal data was conducted as the intervention
delivery was carried out over a various amount of years. The authors did not over interpret data
discussion. They highlighted the developmental support systems theory that by aligning the child,
family, school, and community assets are critical for promoting positive development. The theory was
compared to the current study intervention linking a positive correlational data to academic
performance, and ELL and English proficiency first generation learners. The study did have internal
validity but rules out potential sources of bias; noted as a limitation. The authors addressed other
limitations; such as there was no potential sources between group variations (family migration, extent
of language isolation, etc.), the inability to precisely measure achievement gains (intervention need for
scientific steps to better guide the support to the barriers of learning), the inability to determine how
many years is enough support and whether the intervention might produce diminishing effects on
achievement once support is withdrawn. This study supports a school practice model and advances the
topic for the development of support plans for all socially disadvantaged students by attending to each
child s developmental strengths and needs; supporting cognitive, social, emotional and physical
growth; and aligning resources for families, schools, and communities in a culturally competent
approach. If I were the authors, I would want to know whether any of first generation students

Comparing The Federal Reserve And Monetary Policy
The Federal Reserve and Monetary Policy The Federal Reserve has three tools to help maintain and
make changes within money supply and policies. The first tool and most popular tool is open market
operations. The Reserve uses this instrument to regulate the rate of federal funds within the system,
which is merely the rate in which banks borrow reserves from other banks. With this tool, they can
alter the interest rates and amount of money on the open market. Therefore, the Reserve can
essentially control the total money stream, whether that is expanding and contracting it. The second
tool used by the Federal Reserve is the discount rate. The discount rate is the rate of interest that

Why Do Exotic Animals Be Kept As Pets
Not Allowing Exotic Animals to be kept as Pets Throughout humanity there has been an unstable
number of exotic animals to the world. To the point of where people started thinking it would be smart
to keep them as pets. For example, such as a snake, tiger, or a giraffe. Most people have common
sense enough to know those types of animals are not meant to belong as a pet. But there are a few
people who think differently. Exotic animals do not stay cute and adorable forever. Most of the people
fail to realize that the animals seem innocent when young but grow into problematic adults (Toto). To
top it off, an exotic animal is quick to turn on another creature, human or not. They turn vicious and
are very dangerous even though they may not look like it. They get very territorial over what is theirs,
and they want stuff when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They get easily angered and will pounce no matter what they are up against. Those types of animals
are quick to get into fights with other animals around their neighborhood or even the people around it.
Having one in one s home can also leave damage to furniture, children, and other household objects
(Leith). Additionally, wild exotic animals carry many diseases. They are carries of unknown one s that
may not even be known to a man yet. The only way to knowing if the animal has a disease is to be bite
by it, and after that it is probably going to be too late to do anything about it then. One is at very high
risk of contracting a disease while keeping a wild animal around. Furthermore, it is illegal to keep
these types of animals, to a certain extent. It is mainly illegal to keep them in one s possession without
precise paper and license to do so. One will be fined highly if caught with an exotic animal without
the correct papers that allow the animal to be in a human s care. Allowing exotic animals into one s
home is a safety hazard to the public, that one should

Coachella Valley Drought
Water On Mars, But Not In California
The Coachella Valley is a civilization built by water, sustained by water, and requires an awful lot of
this rapidly diminishing resource. As a hub for tourist activities such as golfing which use copious
amounts of water just to stay operational, the Valley must address California s growing drought. One
would think that California should be the last state experiencing a water shortage because it is
bordered by the largest body of water in the world, the Pacific Ocean, however this is not the case at
all. Because the Pacific is an ocean, its water must be purified which is a long and expensive process,
and because of the hot and dry natural climate, California is especially prone to drought, no matter

The response to this statewide disaster requires the combined efforts of all state agencies and the state
s model mutual aid system to address. In support of this unified effort, all state agencies with a role in

Why was Peter s visit to Cornelius controversial?
The controversial came from Peter s realization that Jewish customs forbidding contact with Gentiles
were inconsistent with following Jesus (10:28). When Cornelius and other non Jesus received the

V. Why were many early Christians leery of Saul?
Because Saul was persecuting Christian and other Jews who accepted Jesus as the Messiah (8:1 3). He

The Samurai s Garden
In every walk with nature one receives far more than one seeks. The Samurai s Garden is a book that
encompasses the beauty and importance of the natural world through many individuals experiences.
Tsukiyama expresses the belief that humans need help from an outside force, so that they can be
relieved from their grief and misery. In the novel, The Samurai s Garden, Gail Tsukiyama conveys the
theme that in order to heal, people need nature; she accomplishes this through her use of Sachi, Matsu,
and Stephen. Sachi is one of the most compassionate, yet strong characters in the novel. Throughout
her life she has endured shame, loss of loved ones, and internal pain, but everyday she chooses reality
and exists among all this turmoil. However, her pain is alleviated because of the garden she so
tenderly cares for. This small piece of nature gives her the strength to go on and slowly heals her from
the burdening sorrows she carries around. Tsukiyama states, I could see in her face, what I had seen a
hundred times in Matsu s when he worked in his garden: a perfect calm (127). After Kenzo commits
suicide due to finding out about Matsu and Sachi s relationship, Sachi feels desolate and ... Show more

Stephen is different in the way that nature not only cures him spiritually, but also physically. Tarumi s
fresh air and dry climate treats his tuberculosis, but also his inner being. Tsukiyama states, As I
relaxed, a sense of freedom emerged which had been buried under my illness (14). Stephen gains
independence and latitude because of the ocean as well as Matsu s garden. Whenever a loss strikes
him, he feels as if he could always come back to the tranquility of nature and find his composure once
again. Nature s influence on Stephen allows him to heal from not only his disease, but also tragic

Security Orchestration Research Paper
Alternate Title: Is Security Orchestration Merely Another Term for Automation?
It is always interesting to attend a CISO roundtable. Cybersecurity discussions provide the opportunity
to learn, experience thought provoking scenarios and share our problems and triumphs. I recently
attended a roundtable that focuses on security automation and orchestration. When the question of the
difference between the two was posed, no one could provide a concrete answer. The best answer that
anyone could offer was that orchestration is just a fancier synonym for automation. Both terms are
currently being used quite a bit and almost interchangeably, but they are not synonyms.
To learn more about how most people are defining the terms security orchestration, security workflow
and security automation in the real world, I decided to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By order, they meant predictable, repeatable and consistent results. They want a system that allows
them to see their processes documented as well as tracked, but this is more about playbooks than
integration with security tools.
Requirement: Automation
Automation includes both task automation and playbook automation. Task automation is primarily
about managing alerts, especially responding to false alarms and routine responses. Playbook
automation concerns dealing with alerts in a logical sequence through task automation. For example,
in a phishing attack, triage might include performing a reputation check on the IP across the different
feeds or hunting for malicious IPs throughout the environment.
Orchestrating Security
Thus far in this post, the discussion has been focused on workflow and automation. When these steps
are woven into a solution that includes human analysts, you have security orchestration.
Unfortunately, few vendors have been able to offer a solution that will encompass enough of the SOC

Supraventricular Tachycardi A Case Study
Supraventricular Tachycardia The heart is a muscular pump about the size of a fist. This muscle is
continuously pumping blood to the circulatory system at a rate on average of 100,000 times a day.
Arrhythmia s can cause an abnormal rhythm to this rate because of a change in the heart s electrical
system. These arrhythmias can either cause the heart to beat too slowly, bradycardia, or tachycardia,
where the heart beats too fast. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is one specific form of tachycardia.
When a person develops SVT it causes the heart tissue to develop activity similar to a pacemaker in
the upper chambers, or the region above the ventricles (AHA, 2015). This produces an abnormally fast
heartbeat. Understanding this condition is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Short term treatment can include the use of vagal maneuvers. If these are not successful at halting or
slowing the abnormal rhythm then calcium channel or beta blockers may be used. Long term
treatment can include agents that block the atrioventricular node or class IC or III antiarrhythmics.
Procainamide, ibutilide, flecainide, propafenone, and amiodarone can all be used to control the rhythm
in patients (Carnell, J., Amandeep, S., 2008). For those patients that experience persistent episodes of
SVT can have a catheter ablation procedure (Colucci, R et. al., 2010). A catheter ablation is a low risk
procedure with a 90% success rate. This procedure uses radiofrequency heat in order to kill the area of
the heart in which the irregular heartbeat is originating. The purpose of killing this area is to resort the
heart back to its original rhythm. With this procedure, the abnormal tissue can be destroyed without
causing any other damage to the heart. A doctor performs the catheter ablation by placing a sheath into
the groin. The sheath is then filled with electrode catheters. Through these catheters, the doctor is able
to send small electrical impulses, which helps locate the damaged tissue. Once the abnormal tissue is
located the catheter is placed in that spot so that the radiofrequency can be sent into the tissue. This
area is usually 1/5 of an inch (AMA, 2015). After the catheter ablation procedure, all of the abnormal
tissue should be repaired and the patient should not experience anymore SVT episodes. They are then
also able to return to normal daily activities within a few

Summary Of Convergence Of The Twain
Convergence of the Twain
The Titanic, born from human greed and wed to fate s punishment, is a modern icon of decadence.
However, Hardy re imagines this icon in his poem The Convergence of the Twain. Instead of an
explicit critique of the ship s ostentatious vanity, Hardy sees The Titanic s sinking as the judgment for
its vaingloriousness and a product of the ship s conception, development, and wedding to fate.
The poem s organization emphasizes a contrast between different states of the ship s existence. In fact,
the author answers how the ship came to being sunk as the poem progresses. The ship, which came
Deep from human vanity/ And the pride of Life that planned her , falls out of grace In a solitude of the
sea . After the source of its vitality is engulfed by death ( Steel chambers, late the pyres/ Of her
salamandrine fires ) , the ship finds itself in an underwater hell where Cold currents thrid, and turn to
rhythmic tidal lyres , and grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent creatures profanate what were once
Jewels in joy designed . An inhabitant of this hellish habitat, seeing this gloriousness in vain in such a
deprecated state, asks: What is this doing here? The speaker answers this question by describing how
destiny prepared a sinister mate... A shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate and how In shadowy
silent distance grew the Iceberg too... as the smart ship grew In stature, grace, and hue . Then, the ship
and the iceberg finally converge being anon twin halves of one august event at the discretion of
destiny, also known as The Spinner of the Years . The organization of the poem implies a metaphysical
statement; fate is the master of all, and servant of none. It doesn t matter how Deep from human vanity
or how many Jewels in joy designed characterize mankind s power; It is all under the jurisdiction of
fate.
Imagery provides Hardy a vehicle to define essential aspects of the relationship between mankind and
nature. The author argues that fate works beyond the authority of mortals; Only it decides to match the
ship and [The] shape of Ice in an ... intimate welding of their later history . In fact, The convergence of
the twain comes only Till the Spinner of

Tutankhamun Masks
1. The mask of Tutankhamun ( )
This mask of Tutankhamun is an example of the highest artistic and technical achievements of the
ancient Egyptians in the New Kingdom. Covering the head of the wrapped mummy in its coffin, the
mask ensured more protection for the king s body. The exact portrayal of the king s facial features
achieved here made it possible for his soul to recognize him and return to his mummified body, thus
ensuring his resurrection. The head is covered by the royal headdress and the forehead bears the
emblems of kingship and protection: the vulture and uraeus, or cobra. The gold sheets used in this

The royal mummy of Tutankhamun was found inside this coffin. In all three of the coffins,
Tutankhamun was represented identically with the nemes headdress and the ceremonial beard, folding
his arms as his hands grasp the insignia of royal power the heqa scepter in the left and the nekhakha
flail in the right. From Tutankhamun s forehead a cobra and a vulture stand out, emblems of Wadjet
and Nekhbet, the two tutelary deities of Lower and Upper Egypt. Although Tutankhamun s two
innermost sarcophagi are displayed in the exhibition, the outermost one still holds the mummy of
Tutankhamun and resides in his tomb in the valley of the kings.
5. Tutankhamun s Royal Thrones ( )
Along with his other furniture, Tutankhamun s tomb included two of his royal thrones into his tomb,
to simulate that he was the ruler of Egypt and that no pharaoh will ever truly be better than him. It has
multiple gods on it, who appear to be serving Tutankhamun meals or giving him royal gifts.

Mycenaean Civilization Essay
Mycenaean Civilization
The Mycenaean civilization flourished for four hundred years in the late Bronze Age before collapsing
in to small bands of subsistence farmers. Some historians attribute this decline to the Sea People who
terrorized the Egyptians, Anatolians and the Hittites. But could a mysterious people who left no
archeological proof of their existence really bring about the collapse of entire civilizations?
Mycenaean civilization is characterized by the large palace like buildings that they created. These
huge structures contained dozens of rooms used for a variety of purposes.
The rooms were used for everything from industry to meeting places and even sleeping quarters. The
main function of these palatial buildings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Greek warriors depicted on Ramses III reliefs demonstrate that Mycenaean must have been carrying
out raids . The Mycenaean economy depended on surplus in order to trade. To maintain that surplus,
their society had to always be expanding. This made their social structure somewhat delicate and it
eventually led to its collapse. The collapse was not because of a single invasion though, many factors
led to it. Mycenaean civilization collapsed because of its overdependence on trade and its inherent
aggressive nature and was catalyzed by invasions and natural disaster.
The most common reason that historians give for the decline of Mycenaean civilization is that they
were invaded by foreign peoples. The two most common people that are credited with this are the
Dorians and the Sea People. The Dorians moved in to Greece from the north west in the late Bronze
Age. Coarse pots, not as artfully crafted as Mycenaean pots, have been found in Korakou, Asine, and
Mycenae . These pots have been found alongside Mycenaean IIIC pots and is evidence that the
Dorians arrived in small waves and were integrated in to Mycenaean society . The Dorians were not
terrible invaders that brought about the end of Mycenaean society, instead they were immigrants. The
term Sea People seems to apply to many different tribes of men. Pharaoh Merenptah refers to the
Aqaiwasha as Sea People in his victory over the Libyans in 1210bce .
Ramses the third uses the term Sea People in the

Swimming Is The Best Physical Activity
Swimming Colby Homan
December 22, 2015
Mr. Brinkman
English 9
Did you know 65 percent of people in the United States do not know how to swim? If you think about
it, swimming is a great way to keep in shape. There are very few injuries in swimming and it keeps
you healthy. When you swim you are expanding your lung capacity, using most of your body, and
strengthening your muscles. Swimming is the best physical activity for you and your body. I hope you
learn something about my topic and maybe try it out sometime.
History
At first, swimming was one of the seven agilities of knights during the Middle Ages. The knights
swam with armor on them. If a person told a swimmer in Greece that they couldn t swim or they were
bad, it was taken as an insult. The Greeks didn t have swimming in the ancient Olympic Games, but
they liked to do it for fun. Swimming officially became a sport in the late 19th century. In 1896,
swimming first became an olympic event. (Marcus Sheridan, Riverpools and Spas) In the Olympics,
swimming was started just for men, but in 1912 they let the women participate. Australia is the most
passionate nation in the world for their swimming. Historians found items to hold this true: the crawl
stroke or the modern day freestyle was first done by the American Indians and the colonists used their
idea. The Cave of Swimmers has drawings of a people doing breaststroke. In Japan, swimming was
one of the noble skills of citizens. (Kyle Boshoff,

Kinsey Review
In the movie, Kinsey, it was obvious that society had a lack of knowledge about sex and about people
s sexual activities. Alfred Kinsey changed the way that people thought about sex. He did an important

the movie it showed Kinsey reading a script from the bible where boys were supposed to control their
nocturnal emissions, a natural and uncontrollable act of puberty, or they would be looked down upon
by God. A quote from the movie it is the lord s work to help youth fight and resist temptation. I agree

Essay about In Defense of Direct Perception
In Defense of Direct Perception
ABSTRACT: My goal in this paper is to defend the claim that one can directly perceive an object
without possessing any descriptive beliefs about this object. My strategy in defending this claim is to
rebut three arguments that attack my view of direct perception. According to these arguments, the
notion of direct perception as I construe it is objectionable since: (1) it is epistemically worthless since
it leaves perceived objects uninterpreted; (2) it cannot explain how perceived objects are identified;
and (3) it is ill prepared to assign objective content to perceptual states. What is involved in the claim
that one directly perceives an object? The notion of direct perception that I propose to ... Show more

Clearly, this is a form of what many people would call indirect perception. It includes such cases as
perceiving something on the basis of, or by means of, perceiving something else. And, I submit, if this
is what it means for a belief to mediate one s perception of an object, it follows that there are, in fact,
such things as direct perceptions, and that the object of a direct perception is an undescribed object.
For, to begin with, any chain of inferences has to start somewhere; and, eventually, there has to be a
belief, state of mind, or state of the world, of which one is aware, without one s having been aware of
some other belief, state of mind, or state of the world beforehand. Such a belief, state of mind, or state
of the world is directly, that is, noninferentially, perceived. Furthermore, suppose that the object of a
direct (noninferential) perception is a described object. Since, once again, any description of an object
is expressed as a belief, and since we are assuming here that the way for a belief to mediate one s
perception of an object is by means of an inference, this means that the belief expressing the
description is playing an inferential role in perceiving the object which contradicts our assumption that
the object of perception is uninferred. And so, by reductio, the object of a direct

Upon approach to the West side of the business, I observed three white males squatting on the curb

Effects Of Justice In Snow Falling On Cedars
Crime can be defined as any action or omission which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law.
The representations of crime in fiction has developed and changed dramatically over centuries
according to shifts in values and perceptions. Each of the three texts Snow Falling on Cedars, Oceans
11 and Shift , explore different aspects of crime, centred around the duality of good and evil through
the redefinition of justice. Societies are always changing. This means that texts will always embody
different values according to their context and can influence the meaning and message of the texts.

The Contingency And The Resource Dependence Paradigms Play...
Both the Contingency and the Resource Dependence Paradigms play a vital role in business. Though
they have similarities, the also have differences. The following essay will describe these components.
First, the contingency paradigm, a closed system, considers uncertainty and how changes in the
environment affect the internal aspect of the firm (Tolbert Hall, 2009, p. 162). The elements can
include items such as size and technology, as it relates to customer demand to name a few. Another
example might be that a small firm would function better in a centralized fashion verses a large firm
that would benefit more from a decentralized method, whereas, fast paced environments may require
high technology and slow paced industries do not. The point here is that there is not one best practice
for leading or structuring a firm, hence, the company should fit within the environment depending on
internal and external factors (Long, 2014). It is important to note, hhowever, coordination can become
problematic in this theory. For illustration, let s say some environmental factor cause a company to
change structure from a simple structure to a more complex one. Problems with coordination in the
separate departments could present itself as communication and interaction is vastly different. The key
here is for the firm to adapt to the environment, as well as, integrate the activity to make a seamless
whole and reduce uncertainty. In fact, the best way to organize should be contingent upon

Public Transportation In The Kitchener-Waterloo Region
Public transportation has come to be something that many people of all backgrounds, ages, and
statuses rely on. Without public transportation, it would be very hard for many to get around,
especially students. It really is hard to imagine a world without public transportation, however, there
once was a time.
Before 1886, there was no public transportation in the Kitchener Waterloo region, then known as the
Berlin Waterloo region, before Berlin was renamed to Kitchener. Without your own means of
transportation, likely a horse drawn vehicle, you would have to travel by foot, meaning you probably
could not travel too far. However, when horse drawn streetcars were brought to the region, this all
changed for the residents.
The Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company was established in 1886 and finally opened its
railway in 1888. The original line ran along King Street to Cedar Street (now known as Bridgeport
Road) and also branched out to the Grand Trunk Railway Station. The line spanned about 4km and
had a half hour service. There were eight cars and 17 horses, as well as three covered sleighs for bad
winter weather, meaning the service was year round. This streetcar service greatly improved the lives
of many living in the city, as it was an easier and less expensive way to get around (footnote).

extensive damage to both the lines and rails. Ironically enough, the railway had been scheduled to
close just four days later on December 31, so the costs to repair were not justifiable, and trolleys went
into service not long after to replace the streetcars, along with the introduction of the bus lines a few
years

  • 2. Family Is A Powerful And Meaningful Word Family What is Family? According to the online dictionary family is all those persons considered as descendants of a common progenitor. I view family in a whole different perspective. The word family is a powerful and meaningful word. To me, it means people who accept you for who you are where there s no hatred or judgement and love you unconditionally. A dog or pet can simply become family. A person who you can count on through your emotional or financial distress can also be family. Growing up my parents and siblings weren t always supportive or loving. I m the youngest and pretty much seeked love and attention elsewhere which made me view my friends, colleagues, pets, and counselors as family. I didn t have much of a childhood my parents had a lot of personal and financial issues and eventually they became a part of my issues as well. I became depressed to the point school was no longer a priority. I failed my classes hung around with the wrong crowd and no longer cared about my life or future; somehow my teachers observed everything and became my mentors I felt the love they had towards me and how they wanted the best for me. I grew close to them and start questioning my own family and why they didn t have the urge to help me or understand me and how much harm they have caused over the years. With the help of my teachers I became to make a slight progress, but with the environment I was in I no longer had the strength to live at home. By the age of 15 I had ran ... • 3. Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, And Deceit Shakespeare Uses Manipulation, Lies, and Deceit Many people believe lying is just a bad habit, but that is not true. Lying is a part of human nature, no matter if it is a big or small lie, everyone has lied before ( Lying: Bad Habit Or Human Nature? ). Everyone has different reasons for deceiving others, but that does not change the fact that everyone has lied at some point. Human nature keeps the world from achieving complete perfection, and Shakespeare allows this idea to be the foundation that his plays build off of. The human nature of deception is found as a common theme in Shakespeare s Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. Shakespeare uses these plays to communicate to his audiences that sometimes in order to find the truth you have to use trickery and manipulation; thus creating the idea that deception can be evil or harmless depending on the circumstances and the intentions of those who are trying to decieve. Hamlet elucidates the dangers that deception can provoke in relationships and shows the consequences of lying. Shakespeare shows his tangled opinions about deception throughout Much Ado About Nothing by using manipulation to help benefit others and destroy relationships; this allows Shakespeare to further show his idea that deception can be used for good and evil. One of Shakespeare s main themes that is seen throughout many of his plays is deception; this brings more dramatic components to the audience. Hamlet is a play that is solely created around a world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Short-Term and Long-Term Memory Loss Forgetting in Short Term and Long Term Memory: The memory of human beings is similar to that of computers because it allows individuals to store information for later or future use. However, the storage of information in humans involves three major processes i.e. encoding, storage, and retrieval. The encoding process basically involves transforming data into meaningful form like association with an existing image, memory, or sound. This is followed by holding on to the information through a physiological change, which is the actual storage of the information. The final stage in this process is retrieval where the stored information is brought out, which is a reversal of the encoding process ( Memory, Intelligence, and States of Mind , 2011). Since humans are more complex, they have three different memory storage abilities i.e. sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory. Short Term and Long Term Memory: Short term memory is the process with which information in the sensory memory is transferred to a person s awareness or consciousness. The information becomes currently active in the individual like talking to a friend, reading an article, or writing a paper. While short term memory lasts longer then sensory memory, it still has very limited capacity (Cowan, 2009). In contrast, long term memory is relatively permanent and virtually unlimited with regards to storage capacity. The permanence of this type of memory storage capability originates from the fact ... Atrocities And Liberation Of Concentration Camps The Atrocities and Liberation of Concentration Camps If you combine sadistic Nazi soldiers, a license to kill, and twenty six million people whom they took their aggression out on, you have the Holocaust. From torture to murder, the concentration camp prisoners experienced almost every despicably, inhumane act one can imagine. Hitler s Nazis will never be able to justify this ultimate example of cruelty and unfairness. Although the Holocaust occurred nearly seventy years ago, the world will never fail to remember the horrible acts that were committed against millions of innocent people in concentration camps. Next, every bit of their hair was shaved off with electric razors and shearing machines. That hair was used to make clothing that the guards and their dogs would wear. To finish off this disinfecting process, the deportees were then taken into a shower room and were immersed in a phenol solution. Those who lived, for many had died because they weren t able to stand or became unconscious, were given wool rags to wear and wooden sandals that caused inflammation. Paper clothing that the deportees had made was taken, and some had resorted to trading in their food for clothing, only to have it confiscated shortly afterward (Whissen 5 13). Housing assignments for the prisoners were then issued. The prisoners barracks, which were designed to house half the people who were stuffed into them, were filthy and full of vermin, as one of the women assigned to them stated: When we arrived, the sleeping accommodations appeared to be quite nice; the beds had been neatly made, and on each straw mattress there was a small, blue white coverlet that was almost pretty. But unfortunately our contentment did not last long. When we turned down the corner of the coverlet, we saw that the mattresses and covers were crawling with vermin. My blanket was filthy. • 6. Summary Of The Limits Of Friendship By Maria Konnikova Maria Konnikova s essay The Limits of Friendship, analyzes the impact of social media on close relationships, addressing the people impacted by social media use. This essay published in The New Yorker, a weekly magazine with scholarly authors, to inform the public on social media s impact on our lives. She finds that social media has created a dependency on technology and online interactions. Konnikova strives to inform that social media is decreasing close relationships, and persuades that it will impact our future. She argues on the impact of increased dependency on social media on the Dunbar number, hindering the development of future generations. Konnikova succeeds using strong logic and scientific reason as well as appealing to emotions; however, she fails to prove her credibility over the topic and instead relies on the credibility of Robin Dunbar. To develop her argument, Konnikova supplies the reader with logic by using real life examples. One example being notifying the audience of the research that the Dunbar number correlates with brain size because it is simple to understand that group size and brain size flow together (par 1). Konnikova applies Dunbar s historical findings to validate the size of a standard group (par 4). Showing the reader that the Dunbar number accurately functions in society. Another example is her use of clarifying the Dunbar number by examining Christmas cards in relation to social networks (par 5). This enables the reader to have an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Maggot Movement The Effect Of Temperature On The Rate Of Maggot Movement. Environmental Systems and Societies Planning Lab Gaurav Iyer Research Question To what extent does temperature affect the movement of Maggots? Introduction This Experiment aims to analyze the behaviour of the maggots in a particular temperature. Behaviour of the maggots is defined as the way they respond to their surrounding and environment. Maggots are organisms which react by quickly and a series of varied reflex reactions are shown and adapted. These kinds of actions are very important for keeping itself in a particular environment to live. Therefore, it would be expected that all maggots react in the same way to show a particular behavioural trend. Temperature is an environmental factor that will affect the maggot s behaviour. The temperature in the environment helps the maggots determine their rate of metabolism and its internal temperature. These organisms move according to the environmental temperature. A trend can be found to show the effect of temperature on the rate of movement of maggots. Hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At higher temperatures, chemical reactions such as metabolism happen more faster because of the increase in kinetic energy of the particles. As metabolism supplies the organism with energy, there will be more energy produced at high temperatures. Thus, at higher temperatures the maggots will move more quickly as their pacy rate of metabolism gives them energy to do so. Also, if the temperature is too high for the maggots, there will be a decrease in the metabolic speed because of killing of enzymes which will cause the maggots to move ... How should Marianne Barner respond to the invitation for Ikea to have representative appear on the upcoming broadcast of the German video program? The invitation to appear and be part in a live discussion on the upcoming program is a complex situation, analogous to interviews made for politicians close to elections. Even though, the environment is not the most favorable, every space is essential, and it is an opportunity for IKEA to assume their responsibilities and take ownership of the problem publicly, as they did when the issue of child labor was brought to their attention during the Swedish documentary. Additionally, the company will have the chance to explain to the public opinion all the actions that IKEA has been taking to fight against child labor, including the incorporation of a clause to all supply contracts that stated that if the supplier employed children under legal working age, the contract will be cancelled (Chistopher A. Bartlett, 2006). Furthermore, the appointment of an independent third party to monitor child labor practices at its suppliers in India and Pakistan responsible of conduct random audits. As well as, the validation of the problem from IKEA s delegation of recent trips to India. Not to mention, the partnership with the Rugmark foundation. • 10. The University Of Alabama And University At Birmingham Deciding on a four year university to transfer to can be a very stressful decision. Talking to recruiters from many different schools has revealed one thing; they all believe their school is the best. Recruiters are not going to disclose the problem areas of their programs, nor highlight areas where other schools are stronger. Therefore, leaving students to compare and contrast, everything the schools offer, and attempt to make an informed decision. When comparing the different electrical engineering programs, it seemed that every school claimed to be the most innovative, and had the ability to offer the most opportunities to their students. When looking specifically at the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham it became evident that their programs were very similar. Both schools require the same computer and engineering seminar classes and both require that their students achieve a C or higher in their math and science courses. Where they truly stood out from one another is in their transfer requirements, the organizations available on campus, and the cost of attendance. As a transfer student, one of the most important aspects of choosing any college is making sure that all of the requirements can be met. The University of Alabama requires that to transfer in, the student must have maintained a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, which is a C average. They also require that to be classified as a transfer student versus a freshman student, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, longitudinal data was conducted as the intervention delivery was carried out over a various amount of years. The authors did not over interpret data discussion. They highlighted the developmental support systems theory that by aligning the child, family, school, and community assets are critical for promoting positive development. The theory was compared to the current study intervention linking a positive correlational data to academic performance, and ELL and English proficiency first generation learners. The study did have internal validity but rules out potential sources of bias; noted as a limitation. The authors addressed other limitations; such as there was no potential sources between group variations (family migration, extent of language isolation, etc.), the inability to precisely measure achievement gains (intervention need for scientific steps to better guide the support to the barriers of learning), the inability to determine how many years is enough support and whether the intervention might produce diminishing effects on achievement once support is withdrawn. This study supports a school practice model and advances the topic for the development of support plans for all socially disadvantaged students by attending to each child s developmental strengths and needs; supporting cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth; and aligning resources for families, schools, and communities in a culturally competent approach. This muscle is continuously pumping blood to the circulatory system at a rate on average of 100,000 times a day. Arrhythmia s can cause an abnormal rhythm to this rate because of a change in the heart s electrical system. These arrhythmias can either cause the heart to beat too slowly, bradycardia, or tachycardia, where the heart beats too fast. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is one specific form of tachycardia. For those patients that experience persistent episodes of SVT can have a catheter ablation procedure (Colucci, R et. al., 2010). A catheter ablation is a low risk procedure with a 90% success rate. This procedure uses radiofrequency heat in order to kill the area of the heart in which the irregular heartbeat is originating. The purpose of killing this area is to resort the heart back to its original rhythm. With this procedure, the abnormal tissue can be destroyed without causing any other damage to the heart. A doctor performs the catheter ablation by placing a sheath into the groin. The sheath is then filled with electrode catheters. Through these catheters, the doctor is able to send small electrical impulses, which helps locate the damaged tissue. Once the abnormal tissue is located the catheter is placed in that spot so that the radiofrequency can be sent into the tissue. This area is usually 1/5 of an inch (AMA, 2015). However, Hardy re imagines this icon in his poem The Convergence of the Twain. Instead of an explicit critique of the ship s ostentatious vanity, Hardy sees The Titanic s sinking as the judgment for its vaingloriousness and a product of the ship s conception, development, and wedding to fate. The poem s organization emphasizes a contrast between different states of the ship s existence. In fact, the author answers how the ship came to being sunk as the poem progresses. The ship, which came Deep from human vanity/ And the pride of Life that planned her , falls out of grace In a solitude of the sea . After the source of its vitality is engulfed by death ( Steel chambers, late the pyres/ Of her salamandrine fires ) , the ship finds itself in an underwater hell where Cold currents thrid, and turn to rhythmic tidal lyres , and grotesque, slimed, dumb, indifferent creatures profanate what were once Jewels in joy designed . An inhabitant of this hellish habitat, seeing this gloriousness in vain in such a deprecated state, asks: What is this doing here? The speaker answers this question by describing how destiny prepared a sinister mate... A shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate and how In shadowy silent distance grew the Iceberg too... as the smart ship grew In stature, grace, and hue . Then, the ship and the iceberg finally converge being anon twin halves of one august event at the discretion of destiny, also known as The Spinner of the Years . It doesn t matter how Deep from human vanity or how many Jewels in joy designed characterize mankind s power; It is all under the jurisdiction of fate. The collapse was not because of a single invasion though, many factors led to it. Mycenaean civilization collapsed because of its overdependence on trade and its inherent aggressive nature and was catalyzed by invasions and natural disaster. The most common reason that historians give for the decline of Mycenaean civilization is that they were invaded by foreign peoples. My strategy in defending this claim is to rebut three arguments that attack my view of direct perception. According to these arguments, the notion of direct perception as I construe it is objectionable since: (1) it is epistemically worthless since it leaves perceived objects uninterpreted; (2) it cannot explain how perceived objects are identified; and (3) it is ill prepared to assign objective content to perceptual states. Clearly, this is a form of what many people would call indirect perception. It includes such cases as perceiving something on the basis of, or by means of, perceiving something else. And, I submit, if this is what it means for a belief to mediate one s perception of an object, it follows that there are, in fact, such things as direct perceptions, and that the object of a direct perception is an undescribed object. For, to begin with, any chain of inferences has to start somewhere; and, eventually, there has to be a belief, state of mind, or state of the world, of which one is aware, without one s having been aware of some other belief, state of mind, or state of the world beforehand. Such a belief, state of mind, or state of the world is directly, that is, noninferentially, perceived. Furthermore, suppose that the object of a direct (noninferential) perception is a described object. Since, once again, any description of an object is expressed as a belief, and since we are assuming here that the way for a belief to mediate one s perception of an object is by means of an inference, this means that the belief expressing the description is playing an inferential role in perceiving the object which contradicts our assumption that the object of perception is uninferred. Environmental Analysis Of Hwy 19 ( Walmart ) On the above date and time, I was conducting an area, check of, 8701 Us Hwy 19 (Walmart) in my marked patrol vehicle when I smelled a strong odor consistent with marijuana coming from the West side of the grocery entrance. Upon approach to the West side of the business, I observed three white males squatting on the curb next to a green Jeep utility consuming alcohol from a dark color bottled labeled Bud Light. As I exited my patrol vehicle and proceeded toward the three subjects, the odor of marijuana became stronger. While present with the subjects Walmart Manager Kathleen Ritz arrived on scene and advised that she would like to have the subjects trespassed. Ritz further advised that all of the subjects had been drinking alcohol in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. The Contingency And The Resource Dependence Paradigms Play... Both the Contingency and the Resource Dependence Paradigms play a vital role in business. Though they have similarities, the also have differences. The following essay will describe these components. First, the contingency paradigm, a closed system, considers uncertainty and how changes in the environment affect the internal aspect of the firm (Tolbert Hall, 2009, p. 162). The elements can include items such as size and technology, as it relates to customer demand to name a few. Another example might be that a small firm would function better in a centralized fashion verses a large firm that would benefit more from a decentralized method, whereas, fast paced environments may require high technology and slow paced industries do not. The point here is that there is not one best practice for leading or structuring a firm, hence, the company should fit within the environment depending on internal and external factors (Long, 2014). It is important to note, hhowever, coordination can become problematic in this theory. For illustration, let s say some environmental factor cause a company to change structure from a simple structure to a more complex one. Problems with coordination in the separate departments could present itself as communication and interaction is vastly different. The key here is for the firm to adapt to the environment, as well as, integrate the activity to make a seamless whole and reduce uncertainty. In fact, the best way to organize should be contingent upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Public Transportation In The Kitchener-Waterloo Region Public transportation has come to be something that many people of all backgrounds, ages, and statuses rely on. Without public transportation, it would be very hard for many to get around, especially students. It really is hard to imagine a world without public transportation, however, there once was a time. Before 1886, there was no public transportation in the Kitchener Waterloo region, then known as the Berlin Waterloo region, before Berlin was renamed to Kitchener. Without your own means of transportation, likely a horse drawn vehicle, you would have to travel by foot, meaning you probably could not travel too far. However, when horse drawn streetcars were brought to the region, this all changed for the residents. The Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company was established in 1886 and finally opened its railway in 1888. The original line ran along King Street to Cedar Street (now known as Bridgeport Road) and also branched out to the Grand Trunk Railway Station. The line spanned about 4km and had a half hour service. There were eight cars and 17 horses, as well as three covered sleighs for bad winter weather, meaning the service was year round. This streetcar service greatly improved the lives of many living in the city, as it was an easier and less expensive way to get around (footnote). Through the ... Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the end of the streetcars in the Kitchener Waterloo region. On December 27, 1946, a severe winter storm hit the area causing extensive damage to both the lines and rails. Ironically enough, the railway had been scheduled to close just four days later on December 31, so the costs to repair were not justifiable, and trolleys went into service not long after to replace the streetcars, along with the introduction of the bus lines a few years ...
