Essay on Episode Of Hands
Episode of Hands
The unexpected interest made him flush.
Suddenly he seemed to forget the pain,
Consented, and held out
One finger from the others.
The gash was bleeding, and a shaft of sun
That glittered in and out among the wheels,
Fell lightly, warmly, down into the wound.
And as the fingers of the factory owner s son,
That knew a grip for books and tennis
As well as one for iron and leather,
As his taut, spare fingers wound the gauze
Around the thick bed of the wound,
His own hands seemed to him
Like wings of butterflies
Flickering in the sunlight over summer fields.
The knots and notches, many in the wide
Deep hand that lay in his, seemed beautiful.

It gives evidence of having lived two separate lives, one on top of the other, but neither owning the
upper hand at any time. It is a poem of change, and how things never change as they are expected to
do, nor do they change before our eyes as we would believe, but instead change us in a way that
makes us blind to ourselves. quot;As the fingers of the factory owner s son, That knew a grip for
books and tennis quot;; here is described the man s childhood, and here, quot;As well as one for iron
and leather, quot;, is described his adulthood, with responsibilities and duties to perform.
The style of Hart Crane is nearly unmatched. Here he uses a free verse structure, written as a
Blackwood Article, in a story that depicts an event which is the theme and the subject of the poem. He
uses little rhyme, with any structure, but the words flow from frame to frame as though a rhyme
scheme had been used quite frivolously. There is also a great deal of imagery. A good amount of
emphasis is placed upon the hands, the lifeblood of our interaction with the world, and as the hands
are described against the sunlight we can nearly see a picture perfect masterpiece within our minds
that helps us along in the story. There is also a well hidden hint at imagery here; quot; His own hands
seemed to him Like wings of butterflies quot;, means quite clearly, that he has most recently

A Comparison Of Wildfires And The Santa Ana Winds
Wildfires and the Santa Ana winds are harsh realities of life in California. Brush Fire and The Santa
Ana are pieces that touch upon this pertinent topic. Arguing that the toll taken on civilization in
California by annual wild fires is the fault of the humans affected is California native Linda Thomas.
In contrast, Joan Didion, also a California born author, portrays wild fires and Santa Ana winds as evil
forces that destroy all in their path. Despite these authors diverging perspectives, their pieces intersect
in regards to the basic rhetorical strategies employed. Thomas introduction is written from a personal
perspective, describing how [she] awoke to air so dry that the graze of [her] nightgown against the
down comforter created tiny orange sparks, how [she has] a roaring sinus headache, and how [she
finds herself] beneath a smoky sky the color of fire. Written in the first person, these descriptions
place the audience into the author s shoes creating a bond between each reader and the author;
consequently, the reader has a significant level of trust in the author s ideas. Secondly, Thomas
introduction artfully orients her audience before delving into the main portion of her writing. Words
and phrases such as tiny orange sparks, roaring, and smokey immediately create the image of a fire in
the reader s mind. The Santa Ana begins rhetorically similar to Brush Fire, but there are numerous
aspects of Didion s introduction that differentiate it

How Did Chinese Culture Influence The Wu Wang Dynasty
China is the most ancient nation in history and is considered the leading cultural focal point of East
Asia. China is filled with thriving ethics and morals, strong government, efficient economy, artistic
and a systematic culture. In addition, China has created a powerful cultural existence throughout their
civilization. China has battled and faced conflict of developing a more up to date cultural existence in
the world in comparison to other countries. China has been trying to revolutionize its cultural values in
today s modern age. The concern among traditional culture and the change of modernization for
Chinese culture has been talked about by a great philosopher of recent memory by the name of
Confucius. Confucius knew that China will eventually change because socially every nation will have
interacted with each other, which will ultimately help China have a stable economic growth to thrive
on.
However, Chinese s are subjected to altered their economy and cultural values. Despite their influence
and determination, China did not embark on any progress to a fixed, integrate and cultural system.

The Integrity In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In the book Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain took a challenge between the knight. Sir
Gawain also overcame other obstacles that he has been through. Sir Gawain went through many tests
to prove that he could overcome anything. The knight challenged him, so he could prove that he wasn
t the coward he thought he was. Gawain showed his integrity by being honest and confess his wrongs.
Sir Gawain showed the people of his kingdom how trustworthy he was; however, according to the
book, sir Gawain was described as an honorable person, he showed integrity by admitting to his
wrongful sins, and passing the test he had gone through. One of the tests that he had passed was

The And Implementation Of Rapid Response Teams
Much like the human body, healthcare is a complex system that must be assessed and reviewed
routinely to identify the dysfunctions or parts that are in need of intervention. It is the job of nurses,
doctors and other healthcare professionals to recognize and communicate when there is a need for
change or improvement in order for patients to receive the highest standard of care and optimal health
outcomes. The creation and implementation of Rapid Response Teams were one of the many strategies
initiated in the 100,000 Lives Campaign (2004) instituted by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement
(IHI) in effort to reduce morbidity and mortality in the United States health care system. Rapid
Response Teams (RRT) are groups of specialized, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Carlo Parker, the literature suggests that RRT s are underutilized either by delayed
activation or failure to activate entirely. This underutilization is shown to lead to failure to rescue. The
objective of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses decision making model
during RRT activation and the frequency of the RRT activation (Parker, 2014). Lauri and Salantera
(2002) have identified three decision making models that are utilized by nurses to make clinical
judgments based off of information processing and intuitive humanistic theories (Parker, 2014). The
first model is the analytical decision making, which involves the collection of data, forming a
hypothesis and continuing to collect data until a decision has been reached (Parker, 2014). Secondly,
the intuitive decision making is understanding without rationale (Parker, 2014). The third model is a
combination of the analytical and intuitive decision making. The registered nurses (RN) who
participated in this study were from an acute care unit who had activated the RRT at least once in the
past 12 months. The RN s were between the ages of 24 57, 91% were female, 63% of them held a
baccalaureate or master s degree in nursing and the average time working as an RN was 10 years
(Parker, 2014). The results of the study

Distinguish Between Micro, Mecio And Macro Levels Of Practice
Distinguish between micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice and provide an example for each.
There are various differences between micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice. The micro level
consists of a one on one session with the social worker to strengthen the client s coping skills and self
esteem. The micro is based on an individual level referring to the day to day setting inhabited by the
person and people they live with. It focuses on the individual or family. Examples include finding
housing for the individual, healthcare or substance abuse help. It expands as the person grows. An
example would be drawing a diagram with the individual or family being the focus and everything
outside of that circle would be affecting the family or individual in several ways. The focus is on the
micro level because it pertains to either the individual or the family.
The mezzo level is about the individual s surrounding environment. It pertains to neighborhoods,
schools and other entities. It is about providing services for the neighborhood or community. For
example, the focus may be on making schools aware of certain mental health services and helping
them obtain them.
The macro level is the organization, assumptions, myths, and ideologies of the larger world. The
universe hosting the smaller systems. An example of this would be lobby days; individuals come
together to advocate for a larger scale policy change. Once the change occurs, it will affect everything
within that

The Cut Short Story

The Cut
It was a Friday, I hopped off the bus and sprinted home as fast as I could to pack my clothes in my
suitcase. I regretted procrastinating the night before, because my mom would be home any minute to
leave for Oklahoma. I grabbed my suitcase and flung it carelessly on my bed. I was so excited for my
basketball tournament that I stood on my bed and began packing quickly. Suddenly i remembered that
I left a shirt in the laundry room. I stepped down from my bed and felt something cut through my toe
like butter. I looked down and saw a big piece of glass with blood dripping down the side.
Immediately I knew what happened. With my quick thinking, I grabbed my cell phone and I hopped
into the bathroom. Trying my best not to get blood on the clean carpet. I sat on the edge of the bathtub
and turned on the water. While the water washed the fresh blood, I called my dad on my phone. I
heard his thunderous footsteps coming down the hallway. He swung open the door and wrapped my
foot in a towel.
He helped me into the car as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

but at the same time there was an ominous silence to it. I sat alone with my thoughts until they were
broken by the sound of my name. They helped me inside and looked at my foot once more. Instantly
they decided that I would need stitches. That was what I figured from the very beginning, but still
dreaded the idea. Right before they began the stitches they looked once more and realized the cut
wasn t deep enough for something as drastic as stitches. They simply decided to use skin glue instead.
They glued the skin back together with much less pain and effort that stitches could have caused. I
walked out with my cautiously trying not to break the glue because I never wanted to walk back into

Mori Alliance Essay
During the war that ensued in Japan, the Mori clan faced a tough dilemma. Many of the neighboring
clans in the Southern part of Japan converted to Christianity. This conversion gave these clans
common ground and helped connect them to form an alliance. Mori was not a Christian clan, so this
strong alliance that surrounded their borders was an immediate threat to the safety of their clan and
their goal of becoming shogun. Despite this alliance being an obvious threat, it took Mori several turns
to realize just how powerful this neighboring alliance of Chosokabe, Miyushi, Amako, and Kono was
growing. The challenging dilemma that Mori faced was to convert to Christianity, which was not their
true religion, or to not convert and face possible destruction of their clan. Mori was not comfortable
converting to Christianity largely because the Pope had decided he would charge their clan 2,000 gold

The clans within the alliance of Chosokabe, Miyushi, Amako, and Kono did not convert to
Christianity for religious reasons, but rather to reap the benefits of strong trading alliances with the
Europeans. For example, Chosokabe converted to Christianity to receive gunpowder as well as
reinforcements during this war for Japan. Even clans outside of this alliance in Japan were doing the
same thing that Chosokabe was doing. An example of this would be the clan of Otomo receiving guns
from Portugal for their conversion to Christianity. Mori s refusal to not convert to Christianity was
clearly holding them back economically and militarily. Mori s entrance into the alliance that
surrounded them clearly helped them out somewhat economically but they were not receiving the full
benefits that the other Christian clans in the alliance were gaining. This was not a good look for Mori
within this alliance and would undoubtedly make them the first odd clan out if conflict were to

The Pros And Cons Of Politicians
Government is said to be necessary to the existence of a civilized society but how could one survive in
a society where the Government isn t civil to a nation. They have consistently failed to keep
Bahamians safe and secure. In Bahamian society cronyism, embezzlement, scandals and corruption
have plagued our unsuccessful governments. They must be held accountable thus, circumstances like
these should result in immediate termination of any politician without exceptions.
The unfair practice by Politicians who provides employment and other favors to individuals has been
skeptic for Bahamian. It is common that once Government changes, many of the staff within the
various ministries will also. In June 2012, The Tribune reported that in less than two months in office,
the current Administration decided not to renew the contracts of eighty Urban Renewal employees.
Thus, eighty persons were left unemployed and eighty families affected due to the actions of the
careless Politicians. Many that campaigned and organized rallies for the Progressive Liberal Party
have been compensated with employment in Government agencies. A similar incident had occurred
back in 2007 when the Opposition (Free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What fuels the desire of wanting to go watch a horror film? As a society, naturally, we do not want to
be afraid of the supernatural or even live in a haunted house (perhaps some people do, on the rare
occasion) but why would we want to go watch something that makes it difficult for us to sleep at
night? What drives us out of our way to be scared, indulged in the gory, disfigured monsters?
Normally, we would avoid a scenario to be attacked by a monster or as Carroll pinpointed, attempt to
add some pleasure to a boring afternoon by opening the lid of a steamy trash can in order to savor its
unwholesome stew of broken bits of meat... unrecognizable clumps, riven thoroughly by all manner of
crawling things. (Carroll 2) Analyzing and contrasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The old tendency to dismiss the Hollywood cinema as escapist always defined escape merely
negatively as escape from, but escape logically must also be escape to. (Wood 30) A dream does not
necessarily have to be good or bad, but it is an escape from reality, no matter what form it s presented
in. Reality can seem dull and audiences who choose to go watch a horror movie tend to watch it for
controlling the idea of the repressed, things that cannot be controlled by the conscious mind. The idea
can be represented from outside or inside of the community and then annihilated, further emphasizing
the idea of otherness . The 1920 film can be depicting Europe in the 1920s with the great depression,
economy failure and unemployment soared, Orlok could be a figure of the despair in reality,

clothe themselves in fashionable or immediately accessible garments rather as dreams use material
from recent memory to express conflicts or desires that may go back to early childhood. (Wood 31)

A Rhetorical Analysis Of In Cold Blood
ICB Rhetorical Analysis
Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood, builds the setting of the small town of Holcomb, Kansas.
His purpose is to emphasize that the town of Holcomb is a small town where no one comes and no one
leaves. He includes these details to show the contrast between the town before and after the murders
of the Clutter family to the reader.
Capote begins to describe the setting by referring to Holcomb as a village, unknown to most people,
even fellow Kansans. The effect of this is to highlight that the town is small and secluded. Capote
mentions that the local accent is a barbed wire with a prairie twang, pinpointing that the village is
closed off to the outside world. The streets are unpaved and unnamed; Capote adds this detail to
continue to affirm to the reader that no one comes into Holcomb because the people of Holcomb
already know where everything is and if people did come into Holcomb, they would need to have
named streets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses this detail to emphasize that the town of Holcomb is portrayed as a town that isn t kept up
with and doesn t really try hard to keep a good external appearance. This can also be supported by the
point that the postmistress works in a falling apart office, implying that no one ever uses the post
office. The effect of this ties into how the town isn t kept up as well as how nothing and no one comes

excitement and it has many dramatic scenes which have a very large impact on the audience. The film
the Shawshank redemption directed by frank Darabont is truly amazing as it will make you think

opinion I really enjoyed this film because of the way Andy has entered Shawshank prison, Andy is
brave and an intelligent man who helps others to do the same. However, Shawshank redemption

As when we saw Andy we already knew that he was different from the other prisoners, as he was
dressed differently from the rest of them. He was wearing a suit and this represented that he had
power, but now he s looking a bit scruffy and you can see his power slipping away until it s
completely taken away and then he s dressed like them all, unimportant and powerless. An example of
this is when Andy first arrived to Shawshank prison, he was wearing a suit compared to the others
they were untidy and dirty. The first thing that pops into Reds head, he knew Andy was a brainy,
intelligence young man with less friends. This shows how Andy is hopeful and patient, Andy won t
give up on his dream of living the free life he s entitled to, no matter how impossible it seems. Another
example is when Andy enters Shawshank prison and meets the warden, and the other police men s.
Andy is now wearing the prison clothes like the other prisoners; this shows how Andy is no longer
strong and powerful. He is now stuck in a cell with no friends and is powerless. Andy was different
from most prisoners; he was quieter but he never lost his mind like many new prisoners. He kept to
himself, but many prisoners didn t like that because they thought Andy thought he was better than all
of them. Mentally Andy Deferens was kind of in a weird place. He was sitting in prison, but his mind

Gang-Related Crime Rate Essay
A majority of criminal activities in the U.S are related to gang violence. A common reason for these
crimes is due to poverty, low employment, and no education. On another note, a gang is defined as
being an age graded peer group exhibiting some permanence and establishing a sense of boundaries
through the gang identified territory, style, and such oppositional practices as fighting and criminal
activity (source.). A lot of big cities like Chicago or Philadelphia are considered as one of the most
dangerous cities in America due to a lot of gang violence. In order to prevent these offenses and to
make cities in the U.S safer again, a solution has to be found in order to reduce the gang related crime

A New Methodology For Fingerprints
A New Methodology for Fingerprints The article I chose to research for my final capstone project was
an article that was published by the Forensic Science International and was written by Helio Barros
and Valter Stefani. The title of this article is A New Methodology for the Visualization of Latent
Fingermarks on the Sticky Side of Adhesive Tapes Using Novel Fluorescent Dyes . A little bit of
abstract about what the paper and the experiments are about is that there are three novel fluorescent
dyes that were tested in numerous experiments for the detection of latent fingerprints. These dyes were
tested on different types of adhesive tapes that varied in color. These dyes that were used are highly
selective to fingerprints, do not need any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A method that is used today for the visualization of latent fingerprints is a process of applying a dye
called Crystal Violet. Crystal Violet reacts with the fatty acids and lipids in your sweat and as a result
it produces a purple color. Although this process is used in the forensic science field today, it has its
limitations. The intense purple color of the dye sometimes results in the entire tape being stained and
as a result the entire fingerprint is ruined and can t be analyzed. The people in this article wanted to
find a better solution for the visualization of latent fingerprints that performed better than the methods
that we currently use today. This is where the introduction of the new dyes comes into the article. The
fluorescent dyes that are reported in this article can overcome the limitations that we currently have
with Crystal Violet and other commercial dyes. The Fluorescent dyes that were used in the study in the
article are named HB 7, HB 9, and HB 11. All of these dyes were synthesized and purified in a
laboratory and are currently patent pending. All the dyes used in this experiment are water soluble and
fluorescent in the blue green region when exposed to ultra violet light at 365nm. Alongside the dyes
that were used in this study, four different types of adhesive tapes were also used ranging from
different colors. Tape ID A that was used was Scotch Tape that was

My Life Changing Experience
From time to time I relive this part of my life with an ashamed perspective. It all begins to come back
to me on the morning of December 16th, I awoke after a sleepless night of exercising, flushing my
system with water and with mixed emotions about even prayed. I went through this because four
nights previous I had raved it up at a party smoking a copious amount of weed. This I consider to be
my life changing experience. Generally speaking I ve always been a good kid with high morals and
couldn t see myself to be tempted to drugs or alcohol, especially since my parents said they d kill me
if they caught me doing that kinda stuff. How I got into this mess begins with me being at a happy

idea first came to me when I would see a couple of my friends smoking over the app Snapchat, while I

time they did and he agreed. After that first weekend, I was instantly hooked to it and spent the next
weekend smoking weed with them again. For the most part I was originally doing this to help cope
with my best friend leaving but as time worn on I just grew plain addicted. Furthermore this started to
cause me to make more poor decisions. After becoming accustomed to weed, I would start to buy
bottles of hard liquor for myself. This I would drink after school about every other day during the
weekdays. Recalling back, I think the dumbest I ever done was during New Year s Eve, I went to a
hotel and smoked several times within a few hours, then went to a party to drink. At around one o

How Does Shakespeare Use Gender Reversal In King Lear
Throughout history, society has always looked at itself with certain stereotypes in mind, which
encompass the behavior of classes, roles assumed by genders, or expectations of children. The motif
of role reversal exhibits prevalence in Shakespeare s King Lear. Shakespeare explores this motif to
discuss transformations in class, gender, and parent child relationships. The transformation in the
character of Lear can be traced from his position a king through his downward spiral into madness.
Using this degradation of position in society, Shakespeare establishes the context for both the main
plot and subplot. Initially, Lear overexerts his power as the King. Shakespeare demonstrates Lear s
abuse of power through the banishment of Kent and disinheritance ... Show more content on

The play begins with the reversal of stereotypical gender roles. Shakespeare portrays this reversal
initially through how Lear relinquishes his power and apportions it between his two daughters. In the
time period, it was uncommon for a king to step down prior to his death, even more so to his
daughters. Shakespeare uses this gender reversal for plot construction by initiating the class reversal,
and character development by unveiling Goneril s and Regan s true personalities. Shakespeare also
reverses the gender roles within a marriage. In Albany s marriage with Goneril, Albany does nothing
to prevent Goneril s actions. For the time period, a husband ignoring the actions of his wife was very
uncommon as women possessed less freedom than how Shakespeare portrays it. However,
Shakespeare reverses these initially reverse gender roles through Albany s abnegation of her actions.
Albany s line in 5.3 clearly demonstrates his rejection. Most monstrous! O! King Lear (5.3.191) This
rejection sets Albany apart from Cornwall, who does nothing to prevent his wife from committing evil
deeds. Shakespeare demonstrates this difference through the difference in their deaths; Albany doesn t

However, even if prostitution is legal for sex trade workers who enter this lifestyle freely and
deliberately, it is important to look at the choice and constraints in the performance of this deviant
activity. Is prostitution a form of sexual deviance, a paid work, or a troubled response to childhood
abuse?
Causes of Women entering Prostitution
Most street prostitutes have common backgrounds; they are women and men who come from the
lower socio economic strata, and who are or were greatly dissatisfied with some aspects of their home
life (Lowman, 1992, p.54).
Research on prostitution shows some basic patterns in the family backgrounds of people involved in
prostitution. Often less than 18 years of age, most have few qualifications for other work. Various
reasons can be invoked as to why young adults turn to prostitution; poverty, mental illness,
homelessness, a history of childhood emotional, physical or sexual abuse.
Troubled childhood
Usually, prostitutes leave home at a very early age (67% of prostitutes enter the profession under the
age of eighteen). The average age of sex workers is 13 years old (Silbert, amp; Pines, 1982, p.122).
However, some are as young as young as 11 years old, as Wayne Chamberlain (1998) notes.

but militarism out of all was the underlying (main) cause to the start of one of the bloodiest wars. To
begin, imperialism plays a key role in the start of, WWI. Imperialism is the practice to extend power,

Militarism was the belief or desire of a government or the people should maintain a strong military
and ready to use it when needed and aggressively to defend or promote national interests. Building up
your army can be a major set of to other countries, making them feel as if they are about to get
attacked. Also other countries would want to have more power than the others so they would have a
competition that could lead to war. For example, evidence shows in a chart by Richard Overy, in 1999,
all the countries were building up their armies and navy and spending lots of money on them. This can
cause war because if the other countries saw that another country has a good military they wouldn t
want to be unprepared and they start building up their army and then all hell breaks loose. Another
example written in, The Hammer or the Anvil , by Bernhard von Bulow; he writes, There is no welfare
for us without power, without a strong army and a strong fleet. (Bulow 1). This shows to readers that
they were readying themselves for some kind of war. This shows to readers that militarism is
obviously the underlying cause for WWI, because without a military there would be no

Essay On Concussions In Sports
The effects of too many concussions and other injuries sustained during contact sports can carry on for
the rest of your life if the case is severe enough. Most of the time, however, concussions are very
minor and only require a short time period of rest. If enough concussions do occur during an athlete s
life, say the amount a professional football player or hockey player might have endured, chronic
traumatic encephalopathy could take place. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy occurs when an athlete
endures repeated blows to the head that resulted in concussions or a secondary blow to the head while
the brain is still recovering from a concussion. Usually, the brain returns back to its normal state if it
has the proper testing and time to heal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sports are not for everybody, not only because of talent level, but because a certain mindset is to be
had to be successful at any sport. A commitment is made. Forty hours of practice a week, the average
amount of time spent practicing for football players, all for a one hour game, the average time of one
game of college football, takes dedication. That is not even counting the time spent icing, resting, and
studying the playbook or film, not to mention the school work to be kept up with for college and high
school students. Most athletes have become used to the grind and juggling three or four time
consuming activities all at one time while being successful at each. Waking up at the break of dawn,
following a schedule, and suffering consequences when a bad choice is made creates character and
discipline that is often needed for many little league, high school, and college athletes. The most
important non tangible thing sports teach anyone is how to get back up after falling, how to get
knocked down but get right back up and keep going, how to move on from failure and overcome it,
focusing on the next important part of life. These skills of determination and courage taught through
sports are essential for being successful in any part of life and are hard to come by anywhere

Evaluation Of A Research Topic Using Various Scientific...
Reflection: Action Research There are many ways to approach on solving a research topic using
various scientific methods. Research methods are mainly use in decision making that guide the
researchers to develop and test out their hypothesis to their study. Action research is a type of applied
research that uses systemic approach to evaluate and observe countless solutions to a problem. Action
research is most likely to be used in educational setting, where educators to find and use applicable
information to solve and improve an issue in a collaborative setting (Creswell, 2005). Action research
is unique since it can be done in collaboration with educators with similar goal and mind set. Action
research uses mixed method study where it includes both qualitative and quantitative data. The usage
of systemic approach along with scientific method it enables researchers to gather unbiased
information during data gather and decision making.
Action research is unlike most research method where it conducted in spiraling cycle. Action research
study is done in four different stages; planning, acting, developing and reflecting. This method is done
in a cyclical process unlike most linear studies. This method allows researchers to evaluate, observe
and reflect that data until a plan is developed with an achievable goal that they have in place ( Mertler
2006). There are two types of action research design a practical one and a participatory one. A

Hippopotomonstroesquippedaliophobia
Do you ever wonder what the longest word in the English language is? You might think Surely
hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the lengthiest word ever! . Surprise! It actually has 36
letters in it (you can count) and the largest word ever has 52. Because it is so long and intimidating, it
will be called it as much as possible. Anyway, it is the fear of long words. Which is kind of silly
because it is a very large word. Because that is kind of mean, it is also called sesquipedalophobia.
Although the fear of long words sounds really silly, it feels just as serious as death to
hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobics (people who suffer from it). Thankfully, there are multiple
ways to overcome hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. One way

Problems Faced By Doohickeys U Need And Their Human...
Introduction As a team, we have identified two additional problems that need to be addressed by
Doohickeys U Need and their Human Resource Manager. As a company, Doohickeys U Need, needs
to implement our recommendations to help protect the company from legal action. The issues we
would like to address in this report are as follows: 1. Layoffs and Dismissing Employees 2. Healthy
Work Environment Below are detailed accounts of each problem, with supporting evidence. The
corresponding explanations of our solutions follow each account. As a team, we developed these
solutions that if implemented, should assist Doohickeys U Need in eradicating the issues, and
establish a more productive and safe workplace environment. Problem #1: ... Show more content on

The HR Manager should design job descriptions with employee and supervisory input, listing job
responsibilities in descending order of time involved. These can be used in the hiring process as well,
in particular for the manufacturing jobs that have physical requirements such as the ability to lift 25
lbs . (The Case) Since job descriptions cannot possibly list every single task an employee may be
expected to perform in their work day, other duties as assigned or another descriptor for possible
additional duties should be included. Once accurate job descriptions are in place, performance reviews
should be instituted at Doohickeys U Need. We recommend that these take place quarterly, and that
they be a collaborative effort between supervisors and employees. Employees may be asked to
evaluate their own performance against the job description in place for their position, as well as future
goals for improvement and areas which the employee feels they most excel in. Both the supervisory
and employee evaluation will be placed in the employee personnel file. With accurate job descriptions
and performance evaluations on file, Human Resources will better be able to evaluate employee
performance and decide if discipline problems are part of an ongoing problem with an employee or if
they were a one off or perhaps even indicative of a failure in the system that points to a need for
further training or resources. Solution #2: Temporary/Seasonal

Importance Of Criminal Rights
Are criminals granted too many rights? Ever since the groundbreaking Supreme Court case of Gideon
V. Wainwright in 1963, further rights have been admitted to felons. Now, criminals can conveniently
surpass the harsh rulings of the court and not be found guilty. Even though criminals should be
granted rights during trials, there have been unnecessary decisions passed giving more rights to the
accused.
Before it can be determined whether criminals are granted an excess number of rights, the rights that
the criminals are given must be examined. Felons have the right to the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Habeas
Corpus is the right for the accused to be brought in front of a judge to determine whether they are truly
guilty or not ( Habeas Corpus ). A criminal can now be held for a longer period of time until they are
proven guilty while also be granted a fair trial. Another right given to criminals is the trial by jury.
This is the most important right granted to any felon as stated in Article III of the Constitution and by
the Sixth Amendment. People accused of crimes can now be tried in front of a panel of normal
citizens. The next right given to the accused is the right against self incrimination. According to
Cornell University, self incrimination is defined as the act of implicating oneself in a crime or
exposing oneself to criminal prosecution. The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution protects a person
from being compelled to incriminate oneself. Also termed self crimination;

Human And Environmental Interactions Of The Salem Creek...
Human and Environmental Interactions Each watershed varies depending on location. The Salem
Creek watershed naturally consists of rocks, vegetation, water, clay and loam soils, slopes, and
juvenile aquatic life. Conversely, there is naturally some stream bank and soil erosion. As for human
features, the watershed consists of drainage pipes, sewage pipes, bridges, mounds of cement, and
pollution sources. Most of the human features are generally in the highly urbanized areas of the
watershed, which consists of northwestern portion of Winston Salem, NC. There were also impervious
surfaces bordering both sides of the watershed. On the stretch parallel to Old Salem Road, there was
Old Salem Road on one side of the watershed, and housing and other buildings on the other. With the
portion that is appears near South Main Street, there is a multiuse development and major road
bordering it. There is also cement on the furthest side of the watershed and a sidewalk on the other that
border the wide portion of the watershed that is located in the Salem Creek Greenway.
Many of these impervious surfaces have drainage systems that run directly into the watershed. As
shown above in the center picture, there is direct drainage from the street to the watershed with no
type of filtration, which in return has cause the glistening polluted puddle in front of the drainage pipe.
Salem College as well as Old Salem are large tourists attractions for Winston Salem, NC. In order to

Globalization Is An Increasingly Present Phenomenon, Which
Globalization is an increasingly present phenomenon, which influences almost everyone s life to a
certain extent. Our world is more connected than ever, and not just from an economic point of view,
but from social, political, technological, and cultural as well. Globalization can be defined, analysed,
tackled many ways, but this essay seeks to briefly define globalization, introduce the convergence
diversity debate, and examine the different types of organizational strategic perspectives in China.
The notions of globality can be traced back to the early part of humanity, but the term globalization
itself was not coined until the 20th century. From a social standpoint, it can be defined as:
A social process in which the constraints of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a managerial point of view, there are many implications of convergence. For example, the staff
of multinational firms are often expected to move around the organization s global operations.
Furthermore, Belief in the transferability of techniques has led management to turn elsewhere for
solutions to problems such as organization structures, new market entry, product and process design,
controlling labour and cost reduction. (Needle, pp.147)
On the other side of the debate, divergence scholars instead assert that national culture, not economic
ideology, or technological growth, is (and will continue to be) the dominant force in shaping the
values, beliefs, and attitudes...within a country . (Gupta, V.; Wang, J pp. 69)
The divergence supporters argue that differences in cultural values can be seen as natural barriers to
convergence, and they can only be altered slowly. They insist, that instead of converging on one
model, national states and companies aim to be different, so they can be more compatible on the
global market. Divergence scholars are convinced that management practices cannot simply be
integrated, as cultural differences particularly between Western and Eastern countries are too great.
There is a hybrid model which combines the best features of convergent and divergent ideology, called
cross vergence. It represents a middle way in the values symbolized by the Western and Eastern world.

Ebay Inc. ( Ebay )
EBay Inc. (EBAY) is a leading global commerce platform that enables individuals and businesses to
buy and sell products online. Over the past 20 years, it has become one of the largest online
marketplaces, with over 159 million active users around the world and more than 800 million items
for sale. EBay s vision is one that is enabled by people, powered by technology, and open to everyone
(What We Do). EBay runs a more decentralized commerce system than Amazon and other e
commerce companies. Their purpose is to act as a facilitator of peer to peer commerce rather than
maintain their own inventory and sell directly to consumers. This gives more power to eBay
marketplace sellers and allows for both auctions and fixed price sales. (EBay vs Amazon) With new
startups on the rise such as Etsy, SellSimple, and Threadflip, along with e commerce veterans such as
Amazon or Alibaba, eBay has to continuously work to improve its services to maintain its sellers and
continue to attract a larger consumer base. (Thomas) Using information technology and improved
information systems has helped eBay achieve their goals and differentiate the platform in an
increasingly competitive market.
In September 1995, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar launched AuctionWeb, an open marketplace for
buyers and sellers. Working alone for almost a year, Omidyar hired his first employee in June 1996,
and by July, AuctionWeb had already sold $7.2 million worth of merchandise. In September 1998,
eBay went public.

Thank You All For Taking The Time At Come Tonight
Thank you all for taking the time to come tonight. Before we start I would like you all to use half of
your notes page to write down one word that describes how you have been feeling lately. You may
accompany this with a picture if you wish.
Now put those to the side, as we will need them a little later on.
We are going to start today s PD a little differently. I want you all to have a go at the colouring sheets
that are in front of you. We are going to just do this for 5minutes. During this time I want you to stay
as quiet as you can and let your mind wander.
Ring a bell to regain attention (wait until bell has completely stopped before speaking)
Ok, it is now time to get the word/drawing that you wrote at the beginning of the session and in the
other half repeat the same thing. Write a word describing how you feel and once again you may draw
a picture as well.
Has anyone s responses changed in the last 5minutes?
allow for discussion
As teachers, do you think that those 5minutes would change the behaviours that you see in your
classroom when your students come into the classroom?
allow for discussion
In my presentation today we are going to be looking what mindfulness is, why we should practice it in
the classroom, the benefits and when we should practice it. I will also be providing you with many
practical ways that you can implement mindfulness into your classrooms.
So what is mindfulness?
Professor Jon Kabat Zinn defines it as an awareness that arises

Video Games And Its Effects On Female Characters
Throughout the world women are depicted to be oversexualized among forms of media such as video
games and comic books. The idea of oversexualization towards female characters is that they have
been often drawn and animated in hypersexual ways. Even going as far as viewing them as a sex
object, their revealing body images are eye candy through the eyes of men. Hence women found in
comic books and video games are frequently emphasized by their excessive physical appearances,
objectification, portrayal, and character role.
So, what does oversexualize mean anyway? The term oversexualize defines as to sexualize
excessively, which means to make something of sexual that is beyond degree in this case, a person or
someone of a gender whether male or female can be oversexualized. To begin with, costumes that
female characters wear are far more or less provocative clothes, but mainly towards sexually explicit
ways. For example, Ivy Valentine comes from a video game series called Soul Calibur who is the first
character to have a revealing outfit and in which her costumes appears to be a dominatrix style.
Furthermore, she shows a huge amount of cleavage with her exposed thighs and hips despite wearing
high boots and long gloves which indicates to be a skin display. This brings us to our next reason
about body types. The women s appearances we see in media have been designed to become a perfect
ideal and yet their massive breasts are exaggeratedly drawn to be in the size of basketballs

Globalization and Starbucks Coffee
GLOBALIZATION AND STARBUCKS COFFEE
A. ANALYSIS
1. According to the text, there are three levels that political risk encompasses. And they are firm
specific, country specific and global specific risks. Starbucks is considered a thriving global
enterprise. Although Starbucks has successfully entered, penetrated, and saturated many global
markets, not all attempts have been successful. Starting in 1996, Starbucks has hastily moved into 41
countries fruitfully. However, Starbucks had to pull out of Israel market after opening only 6 stores.
According to our research (Richey, Brenda, July 2006), the following will describe Starbucks
unsuccessful venture into Israel; the four main contributors to Starbucks failure in Israel: politics, ...

When Starbucks removed themselves from Israel in April 2003, they stated that it was due to
operational challenges and not the current economic and political status in the Middle East (Coussin,
n.d.). Starbucks was probably just trying to save their reputation by making this comment and did not
want to sound offensive.
Globalization is an invented term used to show a combination between the local and global
approaches. In theory, they maintain the main features of the brand, but they modify it to meet the
local cultures needs. Starbucks should have looked at KFC s failure entering is Israel as an example of
what not to do. KFC did not realize that the slaughtering of chicken in Israel was totally different from
other countries. On top of that, they were a kosher society that did not eat pork, so KFC attempted to
adapt their pig gelatin chicken coating. A successful example that Starbucks should have followed was
McDonald s success in Israel. McDonalds understood that in Israel food was very important and they
needed to adjust food preparation in order to be embraced. They decided to grill their hamburgers
instead of frying them (Coussin, n.d.). Starbucks didn t manage to adapt themselves to the regional
coffee culture. Starbucks did not modify any of their existing beverages, food products, or pricing.
They should have introduced unique food items like falafels, blintzes, and mandelbrot (Thompson,
2006).

He uses little rhyme, with any structure, but the words flow from frame to frame as though a rhyme scheme had been used quite frivolously. There is also a great deal of imagery. A good amount of emphasis is placed upon the hands, the lifeblood of our interaction with the world, and as the hands are described against the sunlight we can nearly see a picture perfect masterpiece within our minds that helps us along in the story. Brush Fire and The Santa Ana are pieces that touch upon this pertinent topic. Arguing that the toll taken on civilization in California by annual wild fires is the fault of the humans affected is California native Linda Thomas. In contrast, Joan Didion, also a California born author, portrays wild fires and Santa Ana winds as evil forces that destroy all in their path. Despite these authors diverging perspectives, their pieces intersect in regards to the basic rhetorical strategies employed. Thomas introduction is written from a personal perspective, describing how [she] awoke to air so dry that the graze of [her] nightgown against the down comforter created tiny orange sparks, how [she has] a roaring sinus headache, and how [she finds herself] beneath a smoky sky the color of fire. Written in the first person, these descriptions place the audience into the author s shoes creating a bond between each reader and the author; consequently, the reader has a significant level of trust in the author s ideas. Secondly, Thomas introduction artfully orients her audience before delving into the main portion of her writing. Words and phrases such as tiny orange sparks, roaring, and smokey immediately create the image of a fire in the reader s mind. There are various differences between micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice. The micro level consists of a one on one session with the social worker to strengthen the client s coping skills and self esteem. The micro is based on an individual level referring to the day to day setting inhabited by the person and people they live with. It focuses on the individual or family. Examples include finding housing for the individual, healthcare or substance abuse help. It expands as the person grows. An example would be drawing a diagram with the individual or family being the focus and everything outside of that circle would be affecting the family or individual in several ways. The focus is on the micro level because it pertains to either the individual or the family. The mezzo level is about the individual s surrounding environment. It pertains to neighborhoods, schools and other entities. It is about providing services for the neighborhood or community. For example, the focus may be on making schools aware of certain mental health services and helping them obtain them. The macro level is the organization, assumptions, myths, and ideologies of the larger world. The universe hosting the smaller systems. How Does Shakespeare Use Gender Reversal In King Lear Throughout history, society has always looked at itself with certain stereotypes in mind, which encompass the behavior of classes, roles assumed by genders, or expectations of children. The motif of role reversal exhibits prevalence in Shakespeare s King Lear. Shakespeare explores this motif to discuss transformations in class, gender, and parent child relationships. The transformation in the character of Lear can be traced from his position a king through his downward spiral into madness. Causes of Women entering Prostitution Most street prostitutes have common backgrounds; they are women and men who come from the lower socio economic strata, and who are or were greatly dissatisfied with some aspects of their home life (Lowman, 1992, p.54). Research on prostitution shows some basic patterns in the family backgrounds of people involved in prostitution. Often less than 18 years of age, most have few qualifications for other work. Various reasons can be invoked as to why young adults turn to prostitution; poverty, mental illness, homelessness, a history of childhood emotional, physical or sexual abuse. • 24. Essay On Concussions In Sports The effects of too many concussions and other injuries sustained during contact sports can carry on for the rest of your life if the case is severe enough. Most of the time, however, concussions are very minor and only require a short time period of rest. If enough concussions do occur during an athlete s life, say the amount a professional football player or hockey player might have endured, chronic traumatic encephalopathy could take place. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy occurs when an athlete endures repeated blows to the head that resulted in concussions or a secondary blow to the head while the brain is still recovering from a concussion. Usually, the brain returns back to its normal state if it has the proper testing and time to heal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sports are not for everybody, not only because of talent level, but because a certain mindset is to be had to be successful at any sport. A commitment is made. Forty hours of practice a week, the average amount of time spent practicing for football players, all for a one hour game, the average time of one game of college football, takes dedication. That is not even counting the time spent icing, resting, and studying the playbook or film, not to mention the school work to be kept up with for college and high school students. Most athletes have become used to the grind and juggling three or four time consuming activities all at one time while being successful at each. Waking up at the break of dawn, following a schedule, and suffering consequences when a bad choice is made creates character and discipline that is often needed for many little league, high school, and college athletes. The most important non tangible thing sports teach anyone is how to get back up after falling, how to get knocked down but get right back up and keep going, how to move on from failure and overcome it, focusing on the next important part of life. These skills of determination and courage taught through sports are essential for being successful in any part of life and are hard to come by anywhere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction As a team, we have identified two additional problems that need to be addressed by Doohickeys U Need and their Human Resource Manager. As a company, Doohickeys U Need, needs to implement our recommendations to help protect the company from legal action. The issues we would like to address in this report are as follows: 1. Layoffs and Dismissing Employees 2. Healthy Work Environment Below are detailed accounts of each problem, with supporting evidence. The corresponding explanations of our solutions follow each account. As a team, we developed these solutions that if implemented, should assist Doohickeys U Need in eradicating the issues, and establish a more productive and safe workplace environment. Problem #1: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The HR Manager should design job descriptions with employee and supervisory input, listing job responsibilities in descending order of time involved. These can be used in the hiring process as well, in particular for the manufacturing jobs that have physical requirements such as the ability to lift 25 lbs . (The Case) Since job descriptions cannot possibly list every single task an employee may be expected to perform in their work day, other duties as assigned or another descriptor for possible additional duties should be included. Once accurate job descriptions are in place, performance reviews should be instituted at Doohickeys U Need. We recommend that these take place quarterly, and that they be a collaborative effort between supervisors and employees. Employees may be asked to evaluate their own performance against the job description in place for their position, as well as future goals for improvement and areas which the employee feels they most excel in. Both the supervisory and employee evaluation will be placed in the employee personnel file. With accurate job descriptions and performance evaluations on file, Human Resources will better be able to evaluate employee performance and decide if discipline problems are part of an ongoing problem with an employee or if they were a one off or perhaps even indicative of a failure in the system that points to a need for further training or resources. • 28. Importance Of Criminal Rights Are criminals granted too many rights? Ever since the groundbreaking Supreme Court case of Gideon V. Wainwright in 1963, further rights have been admitted to felons. Now, criminals can conveniently surpass the harsh rulings of the court and not be found guilty. Even though criminals should be granted rights during trials, there have been unnecessary decisions passed giving more rights to the accused. Before it can be determined whether criminals are granted an excess number of rights, the rights that the criminals are given must be examined. Felons have the right to the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Habeas Corpus is the right for the accused to be brought in front of a judge to determine whether they are truly guilty or not ( Habeas Corpus ). A criminal can now be held for a longer period of time until they are proven guilty while also be granted a fair trial. Another right given to criminals is the trial by jury. This is the most important right granted to any felon as stated in Article III of the Constitution and by the Sixth Amendment. People accused of crimes can now be tried in front of a panel of normal citizens. The next right given to the accused is the right against self incrimination. According to Cornell University, self incrimination is defined as the act of implicating oneself in a crime or exposing oneself to criminal prosecution. The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution protects a person from being compelled to incriminate oneself. Also termed self crimination; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Salem Creek watershed naturally consists of rocks, vegetation, water, clay and loam soils, slopes, and juvenile aquatic life. Conversely, there is naturally some stream bank and soil erosion. As for human features, the watershed consists of drainage pipes, sewage pipes, bridges, mounds of cement, and pollution sources. Most of the human features are generally in the highly urbanized areas of the watershed, which consists of northwestern portion of Winston Salem, NC. There were also impervious surfaces bordering both sides of the watershed. On the stretch parallel to Old Salem Road, there was Old Salem Road on one side of the watershed, and housing and other buildings on the other. With the portion that is appears near South Main Street, there is a multiuse development and major road bordering it. There is also cement on the furthest side of the watershed and a sidewalk on the other that border the wide portion of the watershed that is located in the Salem Creek Greenway. Many of these impervious surfaces have drainage systems that run directly into the watershed. As shown above in the center picture, there is direct drainage from the street to the watershed with no type of filtration, which in return has cause the glistening polluted puddle in front of the drainage pipe. • 30. Globalization Is An Increasingly Present Phenomenon, Which Globalization is an increasingly present phenomenon, which influences almost everyone s life to a certain extent. Our world is more connected than ever, and not just from an economic point of view, but from social, political, technological, and cultural as well. Globalization can be defined, analysed, tackled many ways, but this essay seeks to briefly define globalization, introduce the convergence diversity debate, and examine the different types of organizational strategic perspectives in China. The notions of globality can be traced back to the early part of humanity, but the term globalization itself was not coined until the 20th century. From a social standpoint, it can be defined as: A social process in which the constraints of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a managerial point of view, there are many implications of convergence. For example, the staff of multinational firms are often expected to move around the organization s global operations. Furthermore, Belief in the transferability of techniques has led management to turn elsewhere for solutions to problems such as organization structures, new market entry, product and process design, controlling labour and cost reduction. (Needle, pp.147) On the other side of the debate, divergence scholars instead assert that national culture, not economic ideology, or technological growth, is (and will continue to be) the dominant force in shaping the values, beliefs, and attitudes...within a country . (Gupta, V.; Wang, J pp. 69) The divergence supporters argue that differences in cultural values can be seen as natural barriers to convergence, and they can only be altered slowly. They insist, that instead of converging on one model, national states and companies aim to be different, so they can be more compatible on the global market. Divergence scholars are convinced that management practices cannot simply be integrated, as cultural differences particularly between Western and Eastern countries are too great. There is a hybrid model which combines the best features of convergent and divergent ideology, called cross vergence. It represents a middle way in the values symbolized by the Western and Eastern world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Ebay Inc. ( Ebay ) EBay Inc. (EBAY) is a leading global commerce platform that enables individuals and businesses to buy and sell products online. Over the past 20 years, it has become one of the largest online marketplaces, with over 159 million active users around the world and more than 800 million items for sale. EBay s vision is one that is enabled by people, powered by technology, and open to everyone (What We Do). EBay runs a more decentralized commerce system than Amazon and other e commerce companies. Their purpose is to act as a facilitator of peer to peer commerce rather than maintain their own inventory and sell directly to consumers. This gives more power to eBay marketplace sellers and allows for both auctions and fixed price sales. (EBay vs Amazon) With new startups on the rise such as Etsy, SellSimple, and Threadflip, along with e commerce veterans such as Amazon or Alibaba, eBay has to continuously work to improve its services to maintain its sellers and continue to attract a larger consumer base. (Thomas) Using information technology and improved information systems has helped eBay achieve their goals and differentiate the platform in an increasingly competitive market. In September 1995, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar launched AuctionWeb, an open marketplace for buyers and sellers. Working alone for almost a year, Omidyar hired his first employee in June 1996, and by July, AuctionWeb had already sold $7.2 million worth of merchandise. In September 1998, eBay went public. ... Now put those to the side, as we will need them a little later on. We are going to start today s PD a little differently. I want you all to have a go at the colouring sheets that are in front of you. We are going to just do this for 5minutes. During this time I want you to stay as quiet as you can and let your mind wander. Ring a bell to regain attention (wait until bell has completely stopped before speaking) Ok, it is now time to get the word/drawing that you wrote at the beginning of the session and in the other half repeat the same thing. Write a word describing how you feel and once again you may draw a picture as well. Has anyone s responses changed in the last 5minutes? allow for discussion As teachers, do you think that those 5minutes would change the behaviours that you see in your classroom when your students come into the classroom? allow for discussion In my presentation today we are going to be looking what mindfulness is, why we should practice it in the classroom, the benefits and when we should practice it. • 33. Video Games And Its Effects On Female Characters Throughout the world women are depicted to be oversexualized among forms of media such as video games and comic books. The idea of oversexualization towards female characters is that they have been often drawn and animated in hypersexual ways. Even going as far as viewing them as a sex object, their revealing body images are eye candy through the eyes of men. Hence women found in comic books and video games are frequently emphasized by their excessive physical appearances, objectification, portrayal, and character role. So, what does oversexualize mean anyway? The term oversexualize defines as to sexualize excessively, which means to make something of sexual that is beyond degree in this case, a person or someone of a gender whether male or female can be oversexualized. To begin with, costumes that female characters wear are far more or less provocative clothes, but mainly towards sexually explicit ways. For example, Ivy Valentine comes from a video game series called Soul Calibur who is the first character to have a revealing outfit and in which her costumes appears to be a dominatrix style. Furthermore, she shows a huge amount of cleavage with her exposed thighs and hips despite wearing high boots and long gloves which indicates to be a skin display. • 34. Globalization and Starbucks Coffee GLOBALIZATION AND STARBUCKS COFFEE A. ANALYSIS 1. According to the text, there are three levels that political risk encompasses. And they are firm specific, country specific and global specific risks. Starbucks is considered a thriving global enterprise. Although Starbucks has successfully entered, penetrated, and saturated many global markets, not all attempts have been successful. Starting in 1996, Starbucks has hastily moved into 41 countries fruitfully. However, Starbucks had to pull out of Israel market after opening only 6 stores. According to our research (Richey, Brenda, July 2006), the following will describe Starbucks unsuccessful venture into Israel; the four main contributors to Starbucks failure in Israel: politics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Starbucks removed themselves from Israel in April 2003, they stated that it was due to operational challenges and not the current economic and political status in the Middle East (Coussin, n.d.). Starbucks was probably just trying to save their reputation by making this comment and did not want to sound offensive. Globalization is an invented term used to show a combination between the local and global approaches. In theory, they maintain the main features of the brand, but they modify it to meet the local cultures needs. Starbucks should have looked at KFC s failure entering is Israel as an example of what not to do. KFC did not realize that the slaughtering of chicken in Israel was totally different from other countries. On top of that, they were a kosher society that did not eat pork, so KFC attempted to adapt their pig gelatin chicken coating. A successful example that Starbucks should have followed was McDonald s success in Israel. McDonalds understood that in Israel food was very important and they needed to adjust food preparation in order to be embraced. They decided to grill their hamburgers instead of frying them (Coussin, n.d.). Starbucks didn t manage to adapt themselves to the regional coffee culture. Starbucks did not modify any of their existing beverages, food products, or pricing. They should have introduced unique food items like falafels, blintzes, and mandelbrot (Thompson, 2006). Global ...
