Jamuna vasanthakumaran plans to create a front cover and context page for their school magazine as practice for their media course's music magazine project. This will allow Jamuna to gain experience with software and layouts before the real music magazine. Creating a sample magazine first will help Jamuna understand the software better and feel more confident creating an effective music magazine for the target audience. While the school magazine may not be as polished as the music magazine, it will help Jamuna develop techniques and improve.

2. I am going to create a front cover and a context page for my school magazine (preston
manor) at the start of my course of my media. I am going to do this because it will be a
great example and I will have an idea before I start to create my music magazine. This
allows me to understand the different ways to get around all the software and
computers so I would be able to finish the tasks for the music magazine easily. This will
also help me gain confidence and knowledge of the software in order to make a much
better and effective music magazine for my target audience. I think is a very good idea
to make a example before getting in to the real process of making a proper magazine as
I will benefit hugely from doing this. The techniques that I will use in this magazine will
develop into the music magazine. This is one of first project in this course so I do not
think it will be really successful as my music magazine because this is just a aim to
improve more and make a very impressive and useful music magazine.

To get an idea of what I was going to
create I needed to sketch out a basic
plan of my school magazine. This helped
me a lot in making my front cover on the
computer. During the process of making
the front cover I changed the layout a bit.
This was fine because my sketch was only
a plan of what I was going to do.

5. The main image
This is one of the picture that I used for my front cover of my school magazine, I
had to crop out the background of the picture to only show the student only in
the front cover. I used the tools from the Photoshop software that allow me to
crop out the image probably without leaving any pieces of the background
image. This makes the magazine have more effects as it is a school magazine
and mainly the audience will be interested in seeing a student on the cover and
by cropping the background it shows that

7. What I have learned?
Making the school magazine really helped me get around the software that I planned to
use in my music magazine. It also gave me practise for working out the layout of a typical
magazine. You will find that my music magazine has a lot better features than my school
magazine. It has much more techniques that a normal magazine would have. This is because
once I finished my school magazine I had gained a lot of experience of using the software
and creating a user friendly and cool magazine for my intended audience. I had more of
an idea of to what a conventional music magazine would look like and was confident that I
was going to improve.
