7. Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to
          the full product?
Throughout my project I have been really keen to
learn some of the skills that goes into creating a
magazine; I feel as if I have learnt a lot in order to
gain the skills required for this product…
Comparing my Prelim task to my final front cover, I think
there’s a major change in terms of quality; my music
magazine’s front cover is so much better and more
professional looking than my school magazine which I
think is obviously much better, by researching into a
number of magazines that have a similar target
audience to me; this helped me incorporate ideas into
my magazine that I knew would appeal to an audience
of over 25 year old’s. Design wise, I’d say that there is a
noticeable difference between the two as I’ve used
more advanced and creative programmes. I think that
my school magazine has an amateur look to it and I
would hope that my music magazine looks a lot more
professionally designed, which is what I was trying to
achieve. I have definitely picked up some useful skills in
  design.
Comparing the two contents page, my music
magazine contents page is more detailed and again
more professional looking; the colours are definitely
increasingly more appealing than the school
magazine’s but I do take in consideration that my
school magazine was aimed at both boys and girls
so the colour schemes would then differ. My music
magazine’s contents page is more organised and
neat by being split into a number of different
sections to make it easier for the reader to allocate
what they want to find and what they can expect in
this magazine, unlike my school magazine.
On the whole, I’ve learnt that through my research
into a variety of magazine how you can neatly lay all
your information out and how you can attract a
certain target audience via the information you
include in your magazine, your colour
schemes, fonts and the pictures you intend to use.
Also I’ve considerable become more confident with
using a variety of programmes which helped me
 achieve all of this.
