Organized Crime Definition
It is very difficult to give one unified definition for the term 'Organized Crime'. Similarly it is very
difficult to give one concise definition for the term 'Organized Crime Groups'. The conventional
definitions of the organized crime does not provide us with any single definition for such groups but
provides us with certain characteristics that are most commonly found in the criminal groups also
used synonymously with the criminal enterprises. The FBI defines a criminal group or a criminal
enterprise as a group of individuals with an identified hierarchy, or comparable structure, engaged in

money or dues from a shopkeeper for the protection of his/her business by the mafia. For example,

A counterculture is a subculture that rejects the major values of the larger society and replaces them

In summer 2008, the pictures of Naples' trash crisis spread worldwide. By that moment, I had been
working on my thesis research, a journalistic investigation entitled "The other side of Ecomafia ",
for six months. It was the first time I worked on environmental issues, but I immediately realized
that it would not be the last. The problems my land was going through in those years awakened an
interest in these topics in me, which rapidly became a passion. Therefore, at first I was focused on
the illegal trafficking of waste, but, step by step, I deepened and widened my horizons,
concentrating on other environmental issues, such as climate change, and pollution.
In the past few years, I also understood the huge impact environmental journalism can have on
policy makers, entrepreneurs, and the society at large. It is the best tool to raise awareness of
ecological issues, and build an environmentally friendly culture. Conscious and mindful people are
conscious and mindful consumers and voters, and, eventually, better citizens. During the months of

through the analysis of case studies. Furthermore, I will also discuss the differences and similarities
between professional crime and organized crime. White collar crime is the use of deceptive acts to
solely benefit oneself, often leaving many victimized. Within this paper, I explain which theories
best clarify why individuals partake in these criminal behaviors, and preventative methods. In
addition, I will state my opinion on the severity of white collar crime and organized crime.

COMMENTARY. The reason I chose this article was because I find anything with Europe
interesting. I went to Germany as a class trip with my German class my senior year of highschool

Today, these criminal organizations are not only active in Italy. For more than 100 years (mainly in
the early 20th century), they have spread all over the world, especially on the east coast of the
United States, with the migration of Italians. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great

Even women involved in Mafia related activities were not taken seriously when they were arrested
and taken to trial. They had a certain concept that the Mafia was conservative and machoistic.
Women were just seen as lacking the power to actually be in the Mafia. If a woman was featured in
